I picked this up for my son so he could practice around the house. Killer stocking stuffer! When the son is away the dad will now play. I started playing my Mustang Bass through this and it did the job. It's a small amp, not a practice amp. This is perfect for camping trips, rocking at the office or kicking it in the backyard. Oh yeah and you can plug in 1/4 headphones and keep the concert to yourself. It runs on a 9-volt battery or you can plug in a 9-volt adapter.SERGIO
Took a chance on this and purchased it without every playing it. Watched video reviews on it and gave it a shot. Yes, I know that it's small in size, smaller than a kids lunchbox but I hoped it'd produce quality sound and what I got was muddy sounds at increased volumes. It's not clear sounding and my goal to play through an amp is to sound good and I felt if I actually played this in front of people, the muddyness would make me sound amateurish. So, for what you pay for this, yes, you get amplified but it's not real great quality, unless you're a metal player because you don't get a clean sound from this. I rate this 3 stars because it's convenient to have a portable battery operated tiny amp that you can plug into and get sound from, however, the quality almost makes you not even want to play it.Jesse
This ain't no micro cube or vox. This less than 20$ & runs on 1 9v battery or 9v plug in the wall.(transformer not included)& Holy Friggin' Smokes does this baby perform.Monster overdrive tone & super bright, clean tone.Headphone input.Probably exceeds 60 decibels, which is beyond city ords. could get U a fine it's so damn loud. My Strat Squire sounds soooo Fender good out of this lil sucka & my electric/acoustic, sooo crisp.Ultra light to carry around.I've been using the JOYO mini,I love it,plug in,no chord, fun but this Fender mini is a bit more.More tone options and louder.I've yet to find out how quick it eats batteries. The JOYO burns them up fast.Get the rechargeables. Also the JOYO has an MP3 input. This doesn't. I run guitar strap thru the handle so the chord is like non-existent or U can old school it and have a 10 or 20 ft chord. So light it can be pulled over by the chord. These mini amps also pick up radio signals. When I turn them on I can hear radio stations at certain angles. So get 1 for the road. It's all about the fun.annoyingted1

Great quality for the money. The speaker is surprisingly loud, clean sound. Can also be used with electric guitar.yurersho_4
This amp is stylish and well-made and has just enough volume for practice with a small uke group. At full volume and with the gain on half, it is equivalent to my Vox Pathfinder Bass (10W) on 4. The gain at 3/4 gives it more volume but the sound starts getting a bit bright and jangly for the passive pickup u-bass. I'm using with it. Might be ok for a bass guitar. I attached an old guitar strap to the screw-in side buttons which works really well for carrying it.danners17
Great little amp. Perfect for acoustic electric bass ukulele when running on rechargeable batteries. Ac. Has a hum when volume up a bit. Annoying! Would be absilutly perfect if it has an Out socket for recording. Thanks package d well and deluverered lightning speed 1 day, to door. Very delighted.ukulele-65

Reviews:
I bought this amp to use in a limited space and at a low volume for very low cost. It obviously doesn't compare to a normal size amp in quality but for being a practice amp it is perfect. Many reviews across the web say it loses power or sounds bad after a short time, but its literally as simple as changing the battery in my case. The manual even says to change the battery if there is an issue with sound, and the battery that comes with it isn't really the best and doesn't last long. It has great sound at a low and mid range volume for the little power it actually has but when you ramp it up it does sound a little distorted but not bad at all for $23-$29. Hopefully my review helps someone get a decent product!Lucas
While you certainly could use it in the studio for certain alt/auxiliary tones and/or layers and achieve fantastic results (producer/artist discretion advised), It's not meant for that. It's meant purely for being able to enjoy playing electric, untethered, while wandering about randomly and/or practicing. …Whether outdoors or indoors. …At home, in the park, around the neighborhood, at a camp site or a BBQ, wherever. Perhaps even during your breaks at work. It's not meant for playing in a full band situation (especially with drums), nor is it meant for getting a half-stack sound (or even normal combo-amp sound), for a fraction of the price, during a high-end studio session or full-on concert. It's a fantastic tool, meant to serve a single purpose. Choose and use your tools accordingly.Cristyn, E
mini-amp works great as a travel amp, or playing early in the am when ppl are sleeping lol it fits perfectly inside my hardcase, along with my electric guitar, headphones, tuner, cables, etc. performs as expected.. dont look to be amazed at its performance lol but for practice/travel its the perfect amp. has a heavy grind for chunky metal riffs. doesnt pick up the p[inch harmonics that great, but they do come through. the clean setting is great, too, and for a tiny little fkr it really kicks pretty good! had my finacee yelling at me to "turn that fkn thing down!" so, lol, it hits pretty hard for a small little guy.. but like i said, dont expect it to put out the tones of a line 6 spider IV or a Marsall half-stack cuz it aint capable for that. it isnt designed for gigs lol so dont expect that kinda sound. but, i love this mini-amp; its my new best friend!da.davc.mcoumykeiu

Reviews:
Sound: I bought the Ampeg Microvr Head originaly with one Ampeg 2-10" cabinet as a part of matched set, as most people do – about three months a later I bought another cabinet – so now I'm often running two of the same cabinets and the head together. When you plug in the second cabinet the rig gets noticeably louder in this set up, and also appears to have a much more deeper bass tone(if you want it). Adding the second cabinet added $300 to my rig – but if you can afford it, the sound is far superior to just the single cabinet, and gives you a lot of flexiblity. For smaller indoor venues like playing bass behind people with pugged in acoustic guitars, I run the head with just one cabinet and it sounds fine – both tone and volume wise. When I playing along with a drummer most of the time I opt for using two cabinets rather than just one. At higher volumes – like playing with a drummer it just sound stronger and fuller in every respect than by using just the single 2 10" cabinet. I'm either running a recent custom C.F. Martin Acoustic/ Electric Bass guitar, or a Fender Precession Bass, through the rig – depending on who and what I'm playing on music wise. It works excellent with either instrument and I am very happy with the set up. Even with just one cabinet you won't be dissapointed. Features: Happy with everything that it came with feature wise. Didn't like the stock power cord that came with because it was very stiff and hard to wind up – Ampeg should switch vendors and get a power cord supllier that could offer them a more felxible cord of the same quality that you cound wind up easier. Ease of Use: Tone controls are easy to figure out and use. Rear connections on the amp are simple, straight forward and easy to use, and hook things up. I often use a Martin acoustic bass guitar with this rig – so I use a Fishman DI preamp in between my bass and the amp – this being done basically to help control feedback at higher volumes (especially when playing out door gigs) and to fine tune the tone on the acoustic bass a bit more. My Fender bass sounds fine with out the Fishman preamp and the controls on the amp head work well with it – giving you many mutiple tone combinations depending on how you set them. Also my Fender fretless bass sounds really good through the amp and the matched speaker that you will most likely buy with the head. Quality: Quality seems very high. After about two years of owning and active giging – it is holding up extremely well. Over the last year or so I have taken it out on local gigs about twice a week, So it's been out of my house more than a hundred times so far, and there haven't been any issues so far – all this in all kinds of weather and temperatures. I had black vinyl covers made for the head (from a custom amp cover innernet company)and for both speaker cabinets as soon as I bought everything – so even aften trucking the units all over the place for quite awhile now they still all look fresh and brand new. The power cord that came with it was very stiff and always hard to roll up – so I bought an after market cord on a website cord supplier that was more flexible and easier to wind up. I've used the after market power cord every since. The head has a fan in the back that runs whever the unit is powered up, that when you first get the amp drives you crazy – because it appears to sound so loud. Truth is though while you may hear it running in your house when practing – you never do at gigs. At any gig the room and enviroment background noise easily drown it out right away – you just never hear the fan running at all. When I first got it I though something was wrong with the fan – there wasn't. Its an Ampeg thing – that is the low fan noise in a quiet background setting. Keeps everything cool inside the head – so you can certainly live with it. I got used to it after awhile and don't even notice it anymore. No one has ever commented to me anywhere about any fan noise coming from my amp. So don't think something is wrong with the fan when you first get the head. Value: The original outlay (about $600 for the head and one matching cabinet) is a bit steep compared to several other small bass amps on the market out there – but you get what you pay for I guess. Due to the price saddly – alot of bass players might not be able to buy one and will go with something cheaper out there. Before buying this I looked around for about two months at other rigs on the innernet, at music stores, and at othet musicians' bass rigs when watching them perform. This unit was replacing a Hartke Kickback 12 – which I used for about three years for the same type of smaller gigs – which is for more low volume type of dealsthat I play at – where you don't have to worry about shaking the room and making the paint peel of the walls when you hit your low E string on something like Springsteen's "Pink Cadillac". I still feel that I made the correct choice and am happy with the head and the speakers matched for th
Sound: I own the Microvr amp and 2 210svtav cabs. I bought the second cab after I got the Mircovr set up. The sound sound you get from this things for the money blows anything else out their out of the water. To get the rated 200watts performance you need a 2nd cab as the load with one cab is 8 ohms at 150 watts. Light weight portability and small footprint size are a plus especially if your space chanllenged. This thing rocks. Features: This is a no frills set up. Has what you need to have great sound with a headphone jack to play practice in a low noise enviroment. Ease of Use: It has a 3 band eq section that you can dial in easy to find a sound you like. Its no svtpro 7 but for the money you will not find a better amp in its class. Quality: This amp is made solid. Mimics the old school look of the 70s svt lineup. Value: With anything you purchase you wish you could get it for less thats just the way it is. But for the money you will not find a better sounding and well made rig in this class. The Microvr and 210 svtvr cab set up is da bomb. If you want portability light weight and the best sound get this AMPEG. Manufacturer Support: I have had no issues with this amp. I have owned it for about 2 years now and play on it alot. Its an AMPEG. The Wow Factor: This thing looks great sounds great and its and AMPEG. Overall: I will always have this amp. Its perfect for travel to other locations and has enough head room for small venues and recording situations and the sound is truely amazing.
Sound: For the money you can't beat the tone this thing has. Features: Not a lot of frills. What is there is great tone and eq abilities. Ease of Use: Plug and play. Quality: Have been exceptionally happy with all my ampeg products. Value: Low cost of the combination of the amp and 210 cab leaves you wondering how you can pay $600 for what you usually pay $2000 to sound like. Manufacturer Support: Loud Technology experience has been fine as I have only needed a few parts and was treated well. The Wow Factor: I am buying another extension cab because I can leave one at practice and one at the recording studio and just carry the amp back and forth. If I wish I can run them both with the amp. Overall: Best Tone for the $

This amp is FUN. The sound quality is great, and it is packed full of amp models, effects, and pre programed drum loops. That combined with a 40 sec looper, and it's become the most effective practice tool I own. And it's so simple, I don't need a bunch of equipment, it's all in the amp. For me, it brings the fun back to practicing.Russ
This amp has a great range of sounds, including some earthy grungey stuff, and weird vocoder setting. The most all-round versatility of this unit is a combination of the Rhythm section, the separate input and control of the Mic, and the Looper section. With up to 10W of output this unit can entertain more than just yourself. I like the tri-select of output power, (especially when the missus wants to watch tv!). The footswitch to select between effects, rhythm and looper is more essential rather than desirable, yet it cost me another $100+ to buy, which seems like a lot for just switch (although it's heavy duty). The only other downside is the rhythm tempo switch, which needs a guess in the time between button presses to alter timing. This would be better done and made more repeatable with a rotary switch. Great little portable unit, and my new GoTo.David M. C.
7. M-Audio Bass Traveler Portable Powered Headphone Amplifier
Product Details:
Bass traveler is a portable headphone amplifier with two 1/8-inch headphone jacks that lets two people listen at the same time to the same signal. many personal digital music players have a limited output for driving high-quality headphones—which may have a higher impedance, a lower passband voltage sensitivity or both—but bass traveler has a 2-level gain switch to boost the signal level, so the sound is always crisp and clear. it is ideal for use with virtually all headphones from 16-100 ohms. the sound quality from the typical headphone jack on a portable device or coming from the standard-issue soundcard found in virtually every computer leaves a lot to be desired. bass traveler delivers a marked upgrade in sound quality, compared to just plugging your headphones directly into your unit’s headphone jack. this unit connects easily to any device that has a standard 1/8-inch output jack. a rotary on/off/volume control makes it easy to operate. the long-lasting built-in rechargeable lithium polymer battery provides several hours of uninterrupted listening enjoyment. there is an led indicator for power on, battery charge, and low battery indication, and battery charging is done through the convenient micro usb port.

Reviews:
I bought this headphone amplifier to increase the volume coming from the headphone jack in my Samsung Galaxy 2 tablet. It did not do that to any noticeable degree. But what it did do was increase the quality of sound. The sound is deeper and richer, with an enhanced bass note. But no noticeable increase in volume. I tested it with Sennheiser PXC 250's, Sennheiser PXC 350's, as well as 3 pairs of lower-end portable Sony's, Philips, & Panasonic's. So, is it worth $30 for enriched sound & enhanced bass notes, with no increase in volume? No. It would be worth it for $15, but not $30. Which is all moot, because what I really need is an increase in v o l u m e. This may work great as a volume improvement for cellphones (I don't know), but in my experience it provided no volume improvement for a tablet.boondawg666
If you are looking for a product to make your headphones louder then this is not for you…The unit has almost unity gain and cannot realistically make a single headphone any louder. Bit of a design flaw. Where it can be useful is if you wish to run 2 headphones off of a single source and the source cannot provide enough drive for 2 headphones but is ok with one set connected. I bought this unit to use on a plane as my Kindle Fire cannot drive mine and my partners noise cancelling headphones (Bose QC2 / Sennheiser ) to an adequate level on flight. The Bose headphones are very sensitive and normally have to be used with the flight adaptor to reduce the sound to a usable level. No volume control is possible at the headphones. The Sennheiser are less sensitive and do include a volume control but I struggled to find a combination that suited both of us with a simple Y cable. With this unit I can whack up the volume on the Kindle and use the M-Audio unit to feed the Bose headphones without the flight adaptor and then use the volume control on the unit to get the levels correct. Whilst I could have made a unit to do this the M-Audio device is both neat, very small and well constructed. I would anticipate that this will be a lot easier to get through flight security check in than ahome made amplifier!!! The M-Audio unit can increase the Bass level to cater for ear buds. Not really a problem for the Bose headphones. Since purchasing the M-Audio unit I have opened it up and changed a pair of resistors from 12K to 68K in the NFB loop to provide an appreciable level of gain. Much better and of course the volume control sits about half way. A good product?? Very much so if you wish to drive two or more headphones and your source is limited in drive capability.pichacker
The unit is very easy to use, and the sound quality is great! I consider it to be a very inexpensive solution to a very common problem. With the compact size it is easy to conceal or store. Charging is super easy also, just plug in to your laptop or home computer USB port. The dual headphone ports are a great addition also, two can enjoy the experience at the same time. I only use my unit for short periods of time so I can't give an accurate description on battery life, I can only hope it meets or exceeds the other features this unit has to offer. Over all I am very pleased.jarautos

First off I'm an old school Sound Engineer. This little Amp does it all. It has so many uses even though it is so simple. It will teach you to learn to use the controls on your guitar better. Unlike several modeling amps this little piggy takes most stomp boxes GREAT!! Maybe he best feature is its Pre Amp Out which allows you a line into the PA or it will blow you away going into the input of your tube amp giving you a realist boost over any stomp box. At low volumes using the proper guitars pickups sparkling cleans. and this Piggy was made to be dirty. Best tool to have as a back up. Great traveling amp. Battery Life is goes a long way just get rechargeable and carry a small battery recharger in its little closed stash compartment. I don't recommend using the power cord. I'm sure there are some youngsters that differ with me but the old schoolers that like it raw and understand how to dial in their tone without playing with mods will dig this amp/fuzz box. If you have a nice clean tube amp but want some growl and extra volume pre amp this baby into your amp. I have several pedals and over drives and most all become thin bringing up the volume compared to this. it just gets thicker and more meaty as you increase the vol. My buddy are blown away with what comes out of the PA with this little Piggy and just a couple of effects my 86 RAT with this work well together.Cool mixes
I have the tweed covered version of the legendary 7-100, so it sounds the same as the leatherette covered version. I was very surprised at the rich tone of this amp. I am using it with 6 AA's not the power supply (dont know what difference that makes tonally) and it sounds like a tweed champ. You can get clean tones that have just a touch of twang with single coils or weaker humbuckers (gretsch) at a lower volume and form 1/4 of the way up you get progressively more and more tweedish ( let's face it-tweed breakup is basically distortion that fuzzes up as the gain increases) type distortion. With a tele you are in rolling stones territory, and with a humbucker equipped guitar you are in Neil Young land. It is awesome for recording, just stick your mic in front and go! It takes pedals well also. I love the simplicity-no time spent tweaking controls, plug in and rock. That said; this is not an ideal amp for a young beginner guitar player. A young kid will not appreciate what this amp gives. But for experienced players who like a "tweed' tone at a dirt cheap price this cannot be beat. Also, dont listen to the nonsense from guys who own one of the "original" ones that these new ones are no good-that's crap. The circuit has not changed regardless of who constructs it.padraic9143
Mr. Chatter is a great. The Pignose sounds line a vintage amp that gives you vintage guitar sounds from the 60s and 70s. This is a real analog amplifier not digital modeling The. Pignose is hand made and a quality piece of gear that will give many years of enjoyment with its rugged construction and quality components. The Pignose is surprisingly loud and versatile. The output jack allows you to send the Pignose to an amp or power amp/PA. I recommend getting the wall wart to save battery usage for outside use. Even the adapter fits inside of the Pignose. I got the original brown and it goes with home decor very easily. The Pignose can do cleans, overdrive and fuzz tones and does well with single coil pickups. The Pignose is very dynamic and you need to use your volume knob and hand to control the amp, like a real tube amp. Inwish I got a Pignose years ago. It is not a gimmick … its a real quality amp for children, adults and recording professionals.tnak4528

I purchased This Gnome for my 110 Custom SSB studio cab to help keep the load light, I love it! It has a smaller footprint than my Stomplab2b and has more than enough headroom. The cab is loaded with an eminence b102 8 ohm. So I'm getting about 120watts from it and it's plenty to jam at home with or in a Practice Session/studio time.Isaac
Just been using it in my house. I have a Hardke Hy-Drive 12 inch cab and it sounds great.I have not played with a drummer yet so I cant say how it holds up to gig levels of sound. It feels like it will be fine. I bought it mainly to go direct to computer and to have a small amp for portability. I wish these were available back in the eighties when I turned pro. All the heavy gear back then was such a pain to load at 3:00AM. I dig it!!MThomas

Nice pure sounding amp. Not harsh at all and quite honest and responsive.Tommy W.
I'm enjoying the Vox VX50 as a practise Amp, it's small, light and quiet but has a nice tone. I can play it anytime without upsetting the neighbours. The only improvement I could suggest is maybe to simplify the controls, bass, mid, treble and volume is enough, spend the extra on speaker quality and power. Overall good though.Jason S.

Wonderful piece of kit. Extremely versatile with some great eq and it looks good too!Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
The Palmer Pocket Bass Amp is the perfect solution for those times and places where practicing through an amp is not possible. It's preamp system is excellent, and the ability to use an external audio source (e.g. backing track, MP3 file) to learn new songs is very helpful. I also have to note that this little box is not JUST for bass guitars. I am successfully using it with acoustic/electric and electric guitars for practice. It's a great value – lots of features packed into a small footprint for not a lot of money.timonbass

Just love the way the compressor kicks in just when you raise the gain or go nuts on the strings.Srikanth J.

Still early…I have not tried all of the advertised features. But instead of useless sounds, the factory presets are a set of very nice clean tones. Of course, the small, light box with 300 watts was what brought me here to begin with. As a bonus, I found that I can switch tones with my small midi controller (midi mouse) to give me a 16 channel amp. Love it. Cant wait to try all the other features.the-blues-man
Absolutely love this amp! Easy to customize, great tones. My only complaint is the lack of available rack ears, and the wired foot switch. Although I’m going to get a MIDI foot switch, the 4 button wired would be perfect for most gigs, and has a nice small footprint.Al and Tamara Hayes

I can’t say enough positive things about this amp. Starting with the sleek look, the small size of this amp is super convenient. I live in NYC so I travel by foot/train with the amp a lot and it’s nice to not have to lug around a 50 pound amp. The beautiful thing is that no power and no sound is sacrificed by the size of this amp. I play in a technical death metal band tuned to G# and this thing produces those low notes extremely well. I love it!Justin
After 5 years and hundreds of bar gigs together my trusty Rumble 500 head started acting up. I would turn it on and nothing, unless I popped a string, then it would pop on and pretty much stay on so I still gigged with it but in the world of GAS this is more than enough reason to get a new amp. Am I wrong? So I sold my backup rig which was a 77 Ampeg V4 and set out both TB and YouTube on the dreaded amp comparison ride. At the end, I was about to buy a Mesa Boogie WD-800 but then some reviews of the EBS Reidmar 750 swayed me at the last minute. I ended up returning that amp right away, out of the box the power light worked in the morning trial but was non working at the evening trial. That and I could not get a sound out of it that I liked. It also felt like the master volume pot had an unusual audio taper to it so it was too loud at 2! Also the on board compressor was a bit weak to me. Im sure its a great amp as many have said but not for me. So the search continued and I ended up on an unlikely choice. Unlikely in that if you told me I was going to be all giggly about how awesome my new PEAVEY bass amp was I would have maybe been a little disappointed as I have just a trace amount of brand snobbery. I played through a Demeter prior to the Rumble, Ill have you know! Snort..Snort So I ended up getting the MiniMega. Just from last nights show alone Im sold and in love with this beefy little gem. I went straight from the PO to the gig and just plugged it in, did minimal EQing and loved it from start to finish. The on board compressor works very well and seems to be designed to affect the highs more than the lows which is really nice, seems to be weighted just right for bass. I play American Standard Ps only for the record. Today I played with it at home and its really about perfect for what I do (rock cover bands) and is so flexible I cant imagine a situation where it wouldnt fully deliver. The EQ is super powerful but with the right frequencies so theres a wide variety of GOOD sounds. . Ive had very powerful eqs on amps before but they gave me a huge array of not so great or just so so sounds. Im sure many of you know what Im talking about. The KOSMOS knobs are cool too. The outer is a sub harmonic synth and the inner one I would describe as make my neck sound like a stand up knob. Probably not what Im going to find in the manual if I ever look but thats what it sounds like to me. Very cool indeed. Seriously, I turn the knob and my neck gets extra woody sounding, like an upright. Im not kidding about there being a lot of cool and useful tones in this thing. The extra power over the Rumble 500 was noticeable and nice. Then the guitar player chimed in on the first break, dude, that amp blows your old one away by far! I would highly recommend you try one of these if you are shopping for that perfect all around bass head. You can always return it if you dont like it but youll likely be blown away like me. The one I purchased was discounted as B-Stock but I cant find anything sideways on it at all. Purchased it from ebay seller proaudiostar. Value wise I would easily say it'srileyboyjim
From the start, the packaging is very attractive when it arrives. Head comes with a hand bag style carrying case, which is a nice bonus. Form factor is nice and compact and weight is at 7-10 lbs at most. This unit is perfect for easy travel. Sound wise, this head is clean and powerful. The lows can be a bit overbearing and when you dial it back to tame, it seems the taper off and thin out a little too soon so it can be hard to dial in the sweet spot at times. I found it best to dial in with the punch button disengaged. If you have a bass with an active EQ, this slight issue can be resolved much more easier. Otherwise, this amp has a wide range of tones and is well worth the price of admission. The Kosmos feature is cool but was not useful for my primary purposes of playing live. It was cool to hook up via D.I. to my interface, jam on my 7" computer monitors and shake the house!Henry

Reviews:
I bought this amp to use for practice at home, and to do some recording into an audio interface. To my surprise this amp gets quite loud, I suspect it will hold its own in a jam session or even a small gig. Tone on both the clean channel and with SGT engaged is excellent, SGT level goes from very low (slightly dirty, warmer tone) all the way up to full distortion – can't wait to play a rock solo with this.Isaac D
This is a great little combo at a terrific price! It gets quite loud without unintentional distortion, the SGT gives a nice, warm distortion effect, and the features include a balanced XLR output (for easy connection to a mixing board), plus 1/8" headphone output and aux input, so you can play along with music in your headphones and not disturb others. It's solidly built, but still very lightweight.Darren S.
This is a great practice and small gigging amp for the price range. Built well as only to be expected by Ampeg. To be honest though, I think my Fender Rumble 40 has better tone with same size speaker and lighter in weight for a lesser price. I love the option of having both amps because I keep one at church and one in the spare bedroom for private quiet practice as both have that feature..not to take away from this Ampeg at all, I love the looks of the checkered tolex and color better than the silvery Fender grill. Another Great amp added to my other two Ampeg, Hartke and Fender rigs.ampfreak-m.r.
