An impressive sounding device but I haven’t been able to get it to work yet. The software package that comes with it on CD is dated and doesn’t work with Windows 10. The drivers on CD are old too. So you have to get the new drivers from the Behringer web site. Then you have to get a sound software package. Audacity is too simple so I signed up for Pro Tools free, but it wouldn’t install the audio drivers. Then you need the Behringer USB link and then try to get the lot to work. I couldn’t. DJ City offered me a refund but I’m going to persist. I also bought a Jam for the iPad and that worked within minutes.Richard W.

Drivers are no longer available at the vendor site. The fact that even this business can not provide concrete installation instructions that result in this device working should be enough to scare anyone off this product. I bought one of these with the intention of purchasing more for my classroom. Once I figured out how to use it (not hard), I fell in love. The app they recommend isn't the best which made it seem harder to use initially, but there are soooo many other amazing apps that work with it (I prefer the tonebridge app since it models any song effects you can think of and is free and foolproof). Now the device is super easy to use and I love how I can toggle between sending the feed into an amp or exclusively into headphones. I play the bass guitar which can interfere with someone upstairs from me who might be trying to listen to the tv. I bought this thinking it would be really awesome to use as an interface to get some good pedal and amp modeling without all of the gear. I am not an Apple user, but I do have a Macbook I use for work purposes. I tried to find Amplitube to use and it is not able to download the app to Macbook. It has to be either iphone or ipad. I used it with the built in garageband app and there is a lot of feedback and static that comes through the speaker when using the pass through fx. I am a little sad about this as I had high hopes.Scott
I've known about the iRig series for over 10 years, and I wanted something that would simplify recording my guitar, keyboard, and electric violin, so I took a chance and purchased the IK Multimedia iRig 2 audio interface. I expected it to work fine with my iPad Mini (generation 1) and my iPhone 7 (using Apple's Lightning to 3.5mm adapter), though I also assumed that it would not work when I tried connecting it my Lenovo laptop's headset input. To my surprise, it actually did work with my laptop. I have yet to really tap into the iRig 2's fullest potential, and I still need to group all of my audio input apps into one folder on both iPhone and iPad, but so far, I'm very pleased with the IK Multimedia iRig 2.jayoders1986

I guess when I buy a product from Musician's Friend that is advertised as compatible with iPad, I expect it to be compatible with my IPad. But apparently the plug is different on the newer IPad and won't accomodate the older plug included in the package. So it's utility to me as a tool to use with an iMac and my IPad is reduced by half. The worst part is that when I brought it to MF's attention, the best they could do is tell me to contact Apple. Otherwise, it works fine on my iMac, but I still can't recommend it.Kevin0211
It works with Jamup, Sonoma 4 track, and Garage Band. It does not work with Amplitube. I think the limitation is not the device, but the apps and medium to where it's going. You are not going to get professional results from an Ipad. What you will get is nice quality demos – and this device gives you the best conversion going in. Garage band's guitar modeling is good for cleans and terrible for overdrive (fizzy and digital). Jam Up is the best sounding guitar modeling app, but I can't use it to multi track like I can in Garage Band. Sonoma 4 track is where you can really hear how well this device converts to digital. Hopefully more quality apps will surface where I can get the full potential of this device in one app. I like it, but felt is was a tad overpriced. Pretty straight forward. It's an input device, but the gain setting is important so you can adjust depending on our guitar pickups. Sound quality is great considering the medium in which the signal is being recorded (iphone and ipad). Build quality is ok, plastic. Probably could not take real heavy abuse but we shall see. It's apogee, so it's pricey. Is it worth the price? Not quite, but since there are no other choices to rival the sound quality- I don't really have a choiceSmitty-c3F2p
35+ yrs. as a musician, 10 yrs. independent recording artist. This is by far the very best quality when using an iPad in conjunction with Garage Band or other recording software. The secret to the quality is that this is plugged into the lightning port not the headphone port, this makes all the difference in the world. It's 3x's the price of other similar pieces, but it also delivers 10x's the quality of signal without having to put up with noise or glitches. If it cost too much to afford right off the bat, save your money and wait to buy this before wasting your money on the other designed pieces. I bought this for recording because I don't play keys very well. I reached out to Fishman about a couple of questions to help set it up and they were really helpful. I wouldn't use this for live because it's very sensitive and the MIDI usually needs a little editing to do exactly what I wanted it to, but it really saves me a lot of work. Got this Amplug Blues today plugged it into my Strat and it sounds great! and I highly recommend it! Now is it perfect? the answer is the usual NO. I think it can be improved on as follows. 1. Put a little color on the dials… the plastic is all black and the plug can rotate to different orientations. Would really be nice to have the dials stand out better with different colors. 2. Change the AA batteries to USB rechargeable Lipo battery. No reason to burn batteries when you can recharge! 3. My main change request is to have Bluetooth Audio In because you plug in the Amplug and then connect headphones (great for practicing). But to add audio to jam to you need to connect another cable to the Aux jack. So for me it just get's to be too much. Since nearly everyone has a smart phone it would be great to use Bluetooth for the Audio In so you can wirelessly play jam track and stuff without needing the 2nd cable. I regret, that I was mistaken in my previous review. I had claimed that the sound was great – but, that some functions were missing, after about a month of use. That is not true. I re-read the slightly, confusing, manual. The unit itself is – slightly, confusing* – but, it does work the way it is supposed to. In fact, you have a serious selection of effects – at least, three levels, of each one of, three effects – far more than other units in this category of headphone amplifier. The sound is incredible – the thing's got, big, b*alls! – and that, in itself, is worth five stars. Amazing job!

Firstly, the sound is heavily determined by your pickups and what headphones you use. I use this to practice in the mornings when it's too early to use my valve amplifier. I play mostly metal and shred. I have used this device with a range of guitars. The one I use most is equipped with an EMG85 and an EMG60. Active pickups through this device results in a significant amplification of unwanted string noise, when using the high gain setting. For me, this is positive – it teaches me to slow down and focus on proper technique. If you dial back the gain, this "issue" goes away. The built in effects also sound very good. The only thing I would change is the sensitivity of the volume knob. 3 is already loud enough, and 10 is deafening. If you accidentally knock the wheel, you're going to hurt your ears. Keep in mind, the positive Star ratings above are based on price: For the money it is a very good piece of equipment. Yes, it is made of a thin plastic, but as long as you aren't careless with it, that should not be an issue. The battery life could be better: I get around 14 hours out of it, maybe shorter. This is with no effects. I have replaced the provided batteries with Duracell now, so this may increase. If they had a more expensive version with more rugged materials, I would buy it without hesitation

I purchased this guitar when it was $95 off full price. So that kind of makes it a worthwhile purchase. Definitely not worth full price in my opinion. Poorly packed with insufficient padding in the box allowed two of the strings to be bent during shipping. I assume this happened during shipping. They wouldnt send bent strings right? Thankfully they provided back up strings… The nut is very poorly crafted. You can visibly see burrs and imperfections in the nut that cause the strings to ring out of tune on certain parts of the fret board even after tuning. The pick-up selector nob fell right off first time I adjusted it. I will have to glue it myself. When the notes do play out true the triple pick ups sound better than the Peavy beginner guitar I used to have– Which only had two pickups and came in a similar starter package but was about half the price as this guitar. I think if I research how to fix some of the issues I can make it playable. But this guitar is far from playable out of the box. Fairly poor quality control.Cody
I was looking forward to ordering this as my first guitar after taking some classes a couple years back. The shipping was remarkably fast–however, when the product arrived the amp was completely broken. Upon plugging the guitar into the amp and strumming, it would make a horrendous scratching, broken sound. Plucking strings has the exact same effect, and occasionally the amp will cut off after a second of playing. I've tried adjusting the dials, turning overdrive on and off, I even bought a new cord thinking that was the issue to no avail. To make matters worse I have called the customer support number multiple times asking if I could recieve a partial refund, or ship back the amp for a functioning replacement–every time I'm left on hold before the call disconnects, if I can even get through to begin with. The only reason this isn't a one star review is that the guitar itself works fine and looks beautiful! I wouldn't reccomend buying the full set if they don't bother to make sure one of the most essential parts is functioning before shipping however.James B.
I worked outside for my father for a good many weeks while the guitar was on sale, and when I got it, I had mixed emotions. After a few days, the gig bag started to rip and now theres a big hole in it. Its still usable, but it isnt really well made. Also the bag isnt really protective. Its more decorative. The strings on it and the other ones were both junk, my local guitar shop guy told me that himself, but strings are moderately priced, and most of the time they last a while, so thats not much of a deal. The amp is lower end, and the cable that plugs into the amp and the guitar started to show copper wire around 2 weeks after purchase. It still works, but it should have lasted longer. And the stand on the amp didnt hold up at all, the plastic on it broke and now it wont angle so the sound comes at your face. But other than that its a good purchase, i would just suggest to just buy the guitar alone, and buy the amp separately, instead of the kit, but that may get expensive, so check out those options and compare them to this product and decide for yourself. My local guitar shop guy told me that the guitar itself is great quality though, but there are more expensive guitars out there, its a great guitar to start out with. Another side note, not relating to the quality of the guitar, but for beginners, how to learn how to play it fast. I suggest buying Rocksmith 2014 with this for PC, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, Xbox One and other game consoles. Although it is expensive, the cable that comes with it counts as $20 dollars of it, and it actually surprisingly works! I started playing the game in late june or early july this year and I learned pretty quickly, to the point where I am now thinking about combining lessons and the game together to speed up the learning process even faster. I am not an Apple user, but I do have a Macbook I use for work purposes. I tried to find Amplitube to use and it is not able to download the app to Macbook. It has to be either iphone or ipad. I used it with the built in garageband app and there is a lot of feedback and static that comes through the speaker when using the pass through fx. I've known about the iRig series for over 10 years, and I wanted something that would simplify recording my guitar, keyboard, and electric violin, so I took a chance and purchased the IK Multimedia iRig 2 audio interface. I expected it to work fine with my iPad Mini (generation 1) and my iPhone 7 (using Apple's Lightning to 3.5mm adapter), though I also assumed that it would not work when I tried connecting it my Lenovo laptop's headset input. To my surprise, it actually did work with my laptop. The Line 6 sonic port is very well built as you'd expect from Line 6 and comes with a lightning connector and a connector for older versions of ipod/iphone/ipads. It's very simple to use, just plug it into your Apple device, plug a guitar in to the input and fire up the app. Output can be to headphones, speakers or any other device with an auxiliary input (including amplifiers, PA's etc). It can also be used in conjunction with any app that uses the core audio bus, so you can record to garageband, use ampkit, amplitube, the name but a few. It's not supposed to go this way. I'm supposed to exchange $100 for a scarcely tolerable practice toy that ranks 1.75x give or take below my mediocre expectations. I'm supposed to struggle with whether to return it now or just learn to deal with it. It had been so long since going otherwise that I'd totally forgotten that once in a super rare while, maybe b/c my good deed count + sum of past sufferings punches thru some magic karmic threshold and a shockingly good thing happens. But after downloading the app and < 10 min of tweak to build a deliciously melting, studio quality Robin Trower flanged OD, I realized somebody's really looking out for my health and well being. I'm very happy with this product but only after a long struggle figuring out how to get it to work with my 2019 iMac running macOS Catalina 10.15.6. Initially it seemed it wouldn't work but then I figured out that you have to give the iRig HD2 FULL DISK ACCESS permissions in System Preferences – SECURITY & PRIVACY not just FILES and FOLDERS. I've owned an Ultra-Lite for many years and all the comments are spot on — these guys are fun to play, and an excellent road (and studio) companion, for sure; they also stay in tune, have excellent neck and hardware, and stand the test of time and trekking. I recently had an opportunity to handle the Travel-caster model, and it was a real pleasure to play and would definitely recommend it. The value of all of these guitars is their absolute lightness and compactness and the quality of products in general seem very reliable as far as i can tell. I really am happy to give a shout out to this company and their line of products. Kudos! I'm still looking at the possibility of nabbing another of these fine products sometime in the near future.
The travelcaster deluxe is everything I wanted it to be. It's a Strat, plain and simple. It has a proper maple fretboard and correct scale length. I was able to play it everyday in the hotel and it performed wonderfully. Sounded great acoustic or through a headphone amp. Went through airport security without a problem and fit easily in the overhead compartment.I don't know what else to say. I love it!!
I'm about 15 minutes into this guitar, and after going it with a fine tooth comb, I have it adjusted and it sounds great. The shape is a little adjustment, but I plan to take it on vacation with me. I've been winding my own pickups for 11 years, and I thought I would want to do a pickup swap with it. Well, that's not needed. These pickups are loud and strong. Neck feels good too. I'll probably need to polish the frets because they feel a little rough, but initially this has exceeded my expectations.

I use if for Bass guitar, far superior to Vox AmPlug MK 2 Bass and cheaper Bassment which both have a lot of background hiss (and poorer sound in my opinion), although it is move expensive. Takes a bit of getting used to having to use the App for settings etc but so much more versatile, check out the 'Mightier Amp' app as an alternative to the official 'Mighty Amp' app. Bluetooth connectivity for audio (jam tracks) a big plus. Design is good, when plugged in it is very unobtrusive and does not get in the way. I only use it for playing with headphones so can't comment on Audio Out/Recording features. Can't see me using Vox AmPlug Bass again!krisb372

This is the perfect accessory if you're a Logic Pro user who plays guitar an wants to use the built-in Logic Pro amps and effects. That said, I bought this more for the ability to control the Logic transport controls via the dedicated Apogee foot-switches. I use a Line 6 Helix and an iRig I/O stomp for recording more than Logic's own amp and effects components, and also often record using actual amps and effects (mic'd), but this offers transport controls along with the added bonus of dedicated foot-switches for amp/effect or other Logic midi-controllable stuff. Plus, I got mine for $199 as a "refurb" from Apogee (it was brand-new!), but it's still worth it at full price of $399 for what it does.stratman351
The device came in original package in outstanding condition. Since it is built very well, it can handle a lot of use. Easy set up with Logic Pro X and my apple mac mini (About 10-15min).
