Better than any locking tuner, you just have to measure the string to the second peg above the one you're using, cut it and put it in. When you get to the unwound ones, clip a little shorter (can't tell you how to measure, I figured it out by trial and error. I would estimate 3 wraps by sort of wrapping it loosely, then cut). Perfect match to the vintage F tuners made on the great strats of yore, you can age them to match by fuming the finish with muriatic acid. Place the tuners on an upside down bowl in a piece of tuperware with an inch or so of acid. Seal the lid. Place in a bath of hot water, and the acid will heat and evaporate. After 10 – 15 minutes check the level of chrome removal. You can always do more, but you can't easy put chrome back on. Rinse with cold water when you're done. RAWK ON!!!!ki_jaybones
I love these tuners. They look cool, they hold tune well. I would not upgrade to these for any guitar that doesn't already have them. Use these for repair/replacement only if you have a guitar that comes with these machines (Eric Clapton, 50s reissue strats). American standards, deluxe and mexican strats all use a different mounting method and have a different peg hole size which is why they provide you with those bushings. If you use these to replace the stock Ping tuners you must be able to drill and tap the machine screw mounting holes. The bushings do not set tight in the existing tuning machine peg hole. I used a drop of super glue to hold the bushings in place to the head. I did use these to make a black MN MIM strat look more like Eric's blackie, so it is not impossible to use them, just know you will have to drill new screw holes and tap them for mounting. Be very careful to not drill all the way through the head and with brass mounting screws. There are no extra screws. It is very easy to bur the brass phillip screw heads beyond use. After your holes are drilled use a pick guard screw to thread hole, then use the provided mounting screw for the tuning machine. I drilled and tapped holes to install one machine at a time to more easily manage alignment of machines from one to the other. After I was done it looked factory issue and worked the same. I put a drop of oil between the peg and bushing before stringing to ease peg binding against the bushing.
I build custom Strat/Tele's so this may not apply to all but…. Like others said this peg uses press-fit front bushing style similar to low cost Squire Strat. For standard diecast pegs I drill 10 mm diameter holes on peg head. I use aftermarket necks with 8 mm diameter hole (I remember it is same as low cost Squire). What I do on 8 mm holes for this peg is I drill 4 mm deep 23/64 (9.1 mm??) diameter counterbore holes to accommodate the bushings. I strongly recommend using drill press not hand drill for this. Also for a better support of peg shaft, I made Teflon sleeves to fill the peghead holes of 8 – 10 mm with silicone grease. One minor issue I have is peghead of some aftermarket Tele neck is a little undersized so I need to file the end peg (High E) a bit to fit.Basement Blues

Working on the brakes of my Terratrike Rover in my garage, there have been many times, I have been unable to see the scale because the wrench is upside down as I reach to the fastener that needs tightening. A good number of allen wrenches – of THIS SIZE – will properly adjust the Truss Rod of your American Fender Stratocaster. BUT . . . !, the long sides of this particular 'wrench will provide you with 2 very important qualities: 1 ) This 'correct length' allen tool wil reach down into the truss rod channel without scraping against the wood of the peghead. The 'normal' right-angle allen tools are just barely long enough to fit into the truss rod nut, and when you're searching for that fitment, it's very likely that the run-of-the-mill allen tool will scrape and scratch the wood around the truss rod channel. This one is long enough to clear that channel opening. 2 ) For around 2 bucks, you can rest assured that this tool WILL fit properly into the five-sided truss 'nut. There's no chance that you'll 'booger up' the brass ( a relatively soft metal ) with an allen tool that sorta' fits. If the tool you're using is just a bit loose in the hex nut, you'll fairly quickly round-off the inside corners. Once this is done, you and your Stratocaster will have a date at the local Luthier shop. It's virtually impossible to take out a stripped hexagonal truss rod nut. So, buy this tool. This was known as "The Book" back in its day. Lots of pros got started with this book. I had one back in the 70's when I dabbled in pedal steel. Took up the instrument again and just had to have this again. I have purchased this only for the engraved Kluson Delux on the back. and noticed the quality is worse than Wilkinson which made in Korea and Goto which made in Japan and Taiwan. even the price is not good as the competitors on the market. do not buy Kluson again. it's my advice to myself51nocaster
I MUCH prefer these over the stock ping tuners that came with my classic series 60's strat…unfortunately I didn't read the fine print that said "uhhh btw, you have to buy our adapter's SEPARATELY in order to fit modern guitars"….So I just spent probably 4 hours trying to make these things work before reading that….Wasted so much time, why the h3ll didn't they just include the freaking adapters! I bought a Squier Bullet Stratocaster HSS with Tremolo Limited Edition Electric Guitar Black Metallic. The tuning keys on these are not stable at all. I modified those stock tuners with these Fender vintage tuners. The spacing is perfect, although I did have to drill 11/32 into the existing hole so that the new tuners would fit. The only thing(and it's cosmetic), is that the previous tuners left holes on back of headstock. The new tuners did not cover up the existing holes. But as I said before, merely cosmetic.. man, this instrument plays beautifully and stays in tune!Guitarjon

The pedal is high quality and works well. Solidly built and should last a long time. The power supply has major issues and is unusable. It was picking up all kids of signals which made the pedal unusable. It doesn't matter if you have one or more pedals in the chain. I tried a different, non Roland power source and had no issues. I called MF and they were very cooperative and shipped me a complementary power source since the bundle is on backorder currently. Same issue with the power source, slightly less interference but unusable nonetheless. Bottom line, buy the pedal, skip the bundle.flatrat
The tuner is great. I bought the bundle on sale so the tuner was less than it would've been buying it on its own. I only gave it three stars because the daisy chain is unusable. There is a whirling electronic sound when plugging in the extra pedals. any kind of gain or volume it makes it even worse. I've tried multiple variations on the set up with the same outcome each time.Larry
This tuner seems to lock onto the frequency more quickly when I change strings and react faster to turning the tuning pegs, compared to another brand I used previously. I like the large letters and bright screen also, much easier to read in daylight though it might be intrusive in a dark setting. Only minor complaint is that the unit is so small that at first I had trouble turning on/off without pushing the buttons on the opposite side. I figured it out soon enough though.Eric

The pedal is high quality and works well. Solidly built and should last a long time. The power supply has major issues and is unusable. It was picking up all kids of signals which made the pedal unusable. It doesn't matter if you have one or more pedals in the chain. I tried a different, non Roland power source and had no issues. I called MF and they were very cooperative and shipped me a complementary power source since the bundle is on backorder currently. Same issue with the power source, slightly less interference but unusable nonetheless. Bottom line, buy the pedal, skip the bundle.flatrat
The tuner is great. I bought the bundle on sale so the tuner was less than it would've been buying it on its own. I only gave it three stars because the daisy chain is unusable. There is a whirling electronic sound when plugging in the extra pedals. any kind of gain or volume it makes it even worse. I've tried multiple variations on the set up with the same outcome each time.Larry
This tuner seems to lock onto the frequency more quickly when I change strings and react faster to turning the tuning pegs, compared to another brand I used previously. I like the large letters and bright screen also, much easier to read in daylight though it might be intrusive in a dark setting. Only minor complaint is that the unit is so small that at first I had trouble turning on/off without pushing the buttons on the opposite side. I figured it out soon enough though.Eric
