Pedal Steel Guitar Seats For Sale (2024 Update)

I bought this as a Stupid Deal of the Day. I wasn't expecting great quality — just a serviceable instrument. Alas, even there I was disappointed. There were minor annoyances like absolutely no documentation — no manual in the box; no manual on-line; nothing. I still don't know what the little allen wrench that came with it is for. When I picked up one of the legs it fell apart. There is a press-to-fit collar that holds the screw which allows adjusting the length of the leg. It wasn't actually pressed onto the shaft it was supposed to be attached to. A little brute force (before I attached the leg) solved that one. The real problem, however, came when I managed to assemble it anyway in spite of these minor glitches. Within moments of me setting it up on it's legs, one of the legs fell off. Actually the metal plate into which the leg screwed fell off. Luckily I still had all the packing material because I hadn't actually managed to completely unpack it. I called Musicians Friend. They were very helpful and immediately sent a RMA and a return label. Back it went.Bill, W.

Excellent product, I found it to hold tune and appears fairly sturdy. Strings are adequate for practice will experiment with others later, but not bad. I ran this through my Fender Deluxe reverb and found very little hum. Practically none and this surprised me as it is a single coil pickup. My only grip is the legs, I could not even get them to screw in, but then I didn't plan to use them in the first place, this instrument is best in your lap. The legs will come in handy if there is a noisy cat in the alley, or I need something to sink a boat (they are fairly heavy and seem decent, except, they are impossible to screw into the dang guitar!) Overall I would highly recommend as a first lap steel for sure.Mike

I've played electric/acoustic/bass for over 25 years, but got curious to try a lap steel because I've always loved the sound; I know what a quality instrument should feel like, and this definitely met or exceeded my expectations. I tuned up to C6 easily, and the single-coil pickup gives a nice bright tone that is consistent in volume from string-to-string. I haven't noticed any hum from the pickup at normal practice volume, and no grounding problems. I expect I'll change the strings soon, but that's a personal preference. A few people mentioned tuning problems; the tuners aren't the best, but I'd suggest pulling on each string when you first get it, to get any extra slack out of them. After that, mine holds tune perfectly fine. It packs up really neatly in the included gig bag, which does hold the detachable legs as well. The gig bag doesn't have much padding, but should be perfectly fine for storing the guitar when not in use. If you need to gig with the instrument professionally, I'd suggest getting something more solid, but this is a fantastic option for someone looking to learn on, or for studio use where you're looking for some different tones.Sam A

While Ive been a professional musician for over 35 years as a guitarist, Ive never played lap steel, so I wanted a good first guitar that was solid yet affordable. This is it! Be aware this will need some work. Raised pickup with more foam, leveled saddles, re-cut grooves, lowered bridge with pan head machine screws in place of adjustable posts. After all of that, it works great.melody1876

I've been getting into sim racing since early 2020, and finally decided to upgrade from my desk to an actual chair with a mount for my wheel. This is definitely the best, most comfortable, most versatile, and biggest value chair you can get for your money. Since I'm just getting into sim racing, I didn't want to spend a lot on a setup, and this worked perfectly. It's super comfortable, and offers plenty of adjustment. The only issue I have with it is that since I use a wheel clamp, it was a little tricky to get my wheel mounted since the mounting plate is a little small. Because of this, my wheel (Thrustmaster TMX) has to be mounted hanging a little bit off the mounting plate on the side closest to the driver. However, I haven't experienced any issues with it being wobbly or unstable, so not a big deal. Shipping was free overnight to NJ, definitely would recommend B&H for fast shipping and good prices.Andrew

Pros: Folds into a reasonably small packages (can hide this in the cupboard, even with the steering wheel installed). Pretty comfortable (at least for an hour or so).Feels surprisingly sturdy given it looks quite flimsy. Cons: Gearshifter mounting position doesn't exist (contrary to one of the advert images). Need to buy Playseat® Gearshift Support… which is a bit naff in all honesty, or look at other 3rd party options.The adjustability is minimal. It is fine for adults (i.e. adjust the horizontal placement of the pedals), but it certainly wasn't adjustable enough to enable my 4 year old to hold onto the wheel and reach the pedals.Ali

When researching foldable racing cockpits, I was torn between this Playseat Challenge and the Next Level Racing GT Lite. On paper, the GT Lite is the better seat because it's more adjustable and comes with a shifter mount, and is a bit cheaper too. Reviews also seemed positive. My main concern was how compact it'd fold up, but I figured I'd try it out first since if I liked it, it should meet my needs out of the box. I knew immediately when I received it that it wasn't for me. I'm thin and of average male height, and it felt way bigger than it needed to be. Worse, although it does have a technically more robust adjustment mechanism than the Playseat Challenge, this comes at the expense of making it quite tedious to fold/unfold. And due to its size, it takes up a lot of space when folded (which I knew going in, but it was even bigger than I expected). Finally, the included shifter mount is located too high/forward for me to even reach it easily (at least, with the Fanatec shifter I plan to buy), let alone find it natural/comfortable. So I returned it the next day and ordered the Playseat Challenge. My experience with the Challenge has been the opposite. It fits me well and is more comfortable to sit in, sets up easily and although the adjustments are mostly velcro strap-based which isn't as robust as the GT Lite's mechanism, the velcro is strong and large and shows no signs of slippage or failing anytime soon. The benefit of this approach is that folding/unfolding the rig is super easy and requires no changes to the adjustments. And because the rig is smaller, it folds up smaller. I also find the seat itself more comfortable and contoured. There's even some basic lumbar support in the form of a (you guessed it) velcro strap behind the seat that can be tightened. I still find a need to add a pillow for long sessions to improve this, but it's nice that there's something. It does not come with a shifter mount, but since I found the GT Lite's to be unusable, this isn't really a negative. Plus, since the Challenge has been around forever, there are plenty of DIY approaches to mounting various shifters, so considering I would've needed a DIY solution either way and would have a harder time finding ideas for the newer GT Lite, I actually consider the shifter situation to be a bit better with the Challenge, for me at least. My biggest complaint is that the pedal mount doesn't have a hard mount plate like the GT Lite and instead depends on another velcro strap. This works and the pedals are secure enough, but I do find my heels sometimes get caught on the velcro. This could be improved with a DIY scheme I'm sure, and the velcro placement can be moved around to minimize the heel issue, but I do feel this is a weakness. I was also worried about using the Challenge at a desk-mounted monitor. I have a 40 4k TV as my PC monitor and was worried it'd be too high for the Challenge, which sits a few inches lower than the GT Lite. Although it isn't ideal, it's really not bad at all and ensures the steering wheel doesn't obscure the screen. I also plan to dabble in some VR racing, which of course won't have this problem. In conclusion, I'm really happy with my purchase and would say that unless you're a large and/or tall person, the Playseat Challenge is the foldable cockpit to buy.Brian

Very easy to use and built like a tank. I had to watch a few demo videos to learn how the controls worked and interacted but it didn't take but a few minutes. Playback quality is very good with tons of storage for created loops. My only issue is with what Boss calls "Drum Tracks". There's only 10 of them and their sound quality is piercing. You can load your own via the usb connection though. Also, it only stores wav files from external sources so converting songs you only have as mp3 etc. to wav is an extra step I could do without. I might just be nitpicking because otherwise it's a great looper with more features than most people will ever need. I'd highly recommend it to anyone.ethan1957

I bought this to compare to my ditto pedal. Its not nearly as simple to use, despite what people say. Okay, it might just be me, but the ditto is more intuitive to use. After you record the first loop, it automatically begins recording the overdub. With the ditto, it goes to pause when you complete a loop. So, yes, its a Boss pedal and built like a tank. But for me, its 50/50 with the ditto. You have to make your own decision about this one.jonaha650

Have been nothing but pleased with the Boss RC-1 loop pedal. I currently use it in conjunction with my Digitech RP1000 and it has really allowed me creative freedom while practicing. I bought this since the RP1000 only has a 20 second looping feature, while this one can go as long as I need. I like how you can easily layer riffs on top of one another, delete when you make mistakes, and stop altogether with just the stomp of the pedal. It's amazing. Nothing else to say. Looks cool, went together easy but the legs are not even close to even. It teeters like crazy! I've tried to shim it but I'm just chasing my tail. I bought it with rewards so I have like 10 bucks into it and it's not worth the time to return it. I'll likely saw the legs even myself and then it will be a perfect stool.Ken M

Basic chromed-steel tubing stool with a padded, rotating seat. Nice looking red & black Fender logo on the seat. Has a ring around legs about 10 up from floor that makes a nice foot rest when playing guitar. Does take some assembly but all required hardware & good instructions are supplied. They even provide simple tools used for assembly. Tip – hang on to the tools. It will need to be retightened a couple of times after initial assembly.leftyfader

Sound: The sound on this board is amazing, I fee it’s also very responsive to your playing and you get that responsive feedback. Makes me feel like it’s easier and more joyful to play my guitar. I will say this you have to tweak settings to get your sound typically the pre made ones aren’t the best. Overall: Ok so first off I’m new to this thing, I never thought I get away from tube amps, but….this headrush caught my attention and I love it! I like the simplicity of it and it produces great models plus sounds really authentic for what it does. I will recommend pairing with headrush frfr108 or frfr 12 or a frfr (Full range flat response) speaker instead of an amp. That way you get the absolute most out of this. I got the headrush frfr108 and it’s sounds amazing! too. As far as the headrush’s competition I haven’t used them yet. But end of the day it’s all personal preference. First off, DO NOT judge the tones of this pedalboard by the preset rigs, they're pretty bad. Build new rigs from scratch and you will discover what this unit is capable of producing. It's not overloaded with every effect pedal out there, but there is more than enough to get any tone you want from Jazz, Country, Rock, Metal, and Blues. For overdriven and distorted tones, it may seem like you only have a few pedals to choose from, but once you combine them with all the various amps, cabs, mics, and impulse responses, you have hundreds of tones in your sound pallet. As for modulation and delay effects, it has all you need to produce any tone. Real Amps and FX Loop – In addition, you can use any of your favorite effects in the FX loop of the pedalboard. It also works great with tube amps and can work in a "four wire" setup with your modulation and delay effects going through the amplifiers FX loop. You can also run into the PA and to a stage tube amp simultaneously. Virtual Amps and IR's – The amps and impulse responses sound fantastic. I have several vintage tube amps and I am able to reproduce the same tones of mic'ing up those amps from this pedalboard directly to the PA or a recording desk. It has the easiest user interface of any of the pedalboards out there. If you can use a smartphone or tablet, this will be very easy to learn. One of the best features is the ability to assign the footswitches to any pedal or multiple pedals (scene function), or do either toggle or momentary mode. In addition, the mini screens for each footswitch change when you assign it to different pedals so it's easy to see what effects you are turning on and off in live performance. In addition, you can name a scene footswitch anything you want (e.g. Clean, Crunch, Solo, etc.). Makes live performance very easy, no more stomp pedal dancing. Set Lists – Organizing rigs into set lists to match your gigs and you can organize your rigs into groups based on type, song, genre, etc.Tod

Overall: First of all, I am pretty sold school when it comes to amps and effects. A simple tube amp pushed with a couple of tube screamers, the on board reverb from the amp itself, and some modulation like delay and chorus. I joined a band a few years back that was about to go into the studio to record an album the year before covid struck. As a result, I ended up buying a Pod HD500X as a way to try to consolidate the effects that I might need all in one unit. I used it mainly as a "pedal board" in front of the [tube] amp as if it were my old analog board full of individual pedals. Needless to say, the recording project got pushed back because of the pandemic, and I was stuck at home, with a lot of time to play around with the processor. It was "good" but it left me wanting an easier to use option. As you could imagine, what that kind of time on my hands, I did a lot of floating around the internet just looking at possible modelers. All of the names. Kemper, Helix, Axe FX, Fractal, and this HeadRush board. Out of everything that was out there, the HeadRush board seemed to be VASTLY easier to try to figure out. Pushing my late 40s now, I don't really 'enjoy' learning new technology the way I did in my teens and twenties, so I didn't want a steep learning curve just to be able to use this thing. I spent a day while it was being shipped looking over youtube tutorials as to how to use it. Only took me a few hours of messing around with it once it got here to dial in the tone that I had on the HD500X. If you can use your cell phone, you can figure this board out. The effects sound convincing and the amp models really seem as good as the competition's offerings (even if this board doesn't have quite as many jammed into it). We are about three weeks out from going in to start laying down the guide tracks for this LP [finally], and this will make things much easier to navigate when each little tone will be more heavily scrutinized. The ability to tweak it on the fly will save time (and thus MONEY) in that studio environment. No deep dives into large menus to try to make a minor adjustment. Gives me a lot more freedom to just try to play my parts instead of worrying about the setup itself. I think this board is a bit underrated as far as the amps and cabs as well. I still will be running it to my amplifier and mic-ing it up as I do still like the "feel" that tubes give when playing. But who knows, I may use some of the sims as well. Built like a tank. A bit heavier than I had expected. Should hold up well under live applications (though that was actually not a problem with the 500X either). I highly recommend this unit if you want to get something that doesn't take a degree from Berklee in sound engineering to get started making music.Kenneth

For someone who has recently started learning guitar and not in a position to own a classic or boutique tube amp yet, HX Stomp has transformed my learning experience. While not a cheap pedal to buy its much cheaper that its direct competition but with equal sound quality and flexibility. Its also much cheaper than buying a proper tube amp. Being a new player, it allows me to explore all manner of different amps to find a sound I like so when I eventually do buy a tube amp I’ll know exactly what I like. The size of the unit is just perfect for fitting onto a pedalboard and sounds amazing along with my existing pedals before it in the chain or in the Stomps FX Loop. Matching the tones of the songs I’m leaning is both fun and just amazing how close I can get in a few simple steps. It also lets me experiences how different the guitar feels to play through different style amps. With just simple fretting techniques I’m sounding like I’m an 80’s rock star which is something my small practice amp couldn’t even begin to reproduce. The sound quality and variety of tones available from sweet and clean to pure filth is a complete joy to use. My wife also loves it as she can no longer hear my daily practicing as now playing through headphones is so simple.GARETH W.

This unit is amazing value for money, so many tones available through the choices of effects amps and cabs it is almost overwhelming! There is however an amazing online community of HX Stomp users who share a huge amount of expertise so it was very easy to get up and running with the pedal. Brilliant. Only thing you should be aware of is that sticking it on a pedalboard isn’t the easiest thing in the world, it’s quite highly powered and the connector is non standard so you would need an adaptor to run it on a pedalboard. But again a quick search online will provide all the information you need.Michael H.

If you are looking for a good practice amp modeler that is compact and has quite an array of effects and amps than the Pocket Pod should do the trick. I gig regularly and felt the Pocket Pod would be ideal for gigs where I didn't want to haul my tube amp around. Sound wise I'm not disappointed in hooking my pocket pod up to a sound board. However, where this product ultimately fails is there is NO On/Off switch! To activate the pod you plug your guitar directly into the input jack and it comes on. Once on you pretty much have to leave the guitar plugged in for your entire set or risk getting a loud pop through the PA system. And leaving the pod plugged in makes the pod get very warm and drains your batteries. I have a circuit breaker guitar cable so I can switch guitars without getting the dreaded pop in the PA system. I'm sure the people at Line 6 cut out the On/Off feature to save room. But I've never seen any piece of equipment that can't be turned off with a button. Satisfactory sounds but more headaches than it's worth for gigging musicians.O'neil Blues

For the price of this pedal you get your money's worth and then some. I've used it extensively with four and five string basses, active and passive pickups, a standup bass and even a strat and a Les Paul. Additionally I've run it through Fender, Behringer and Hartke Amplifiers, solid state and tube. I also ranit direct into the board of my PA. The pedal is dynamic and responsive and the controls give you a lot of tone shaping capabilities. The dual output is a great feature that fit nicely into my effects chain and dual amp setup, giving me sitting routing options. Can't really think of any bad thing to say about it.azrielmordecai

So many tones from this box it's hard to settle on one and stick with it. As a recording effect it'll cover tones from classic rock to QotSA with tons of bass punch and screaming high's. As a live effect I'm running it on front of a foundation drive pedal for extra overdriven goodness. I like tube amps. That’s a fact. I’m too old to change my mind. No one is ever going to make a solid state amp that I’m going to enjoy as much as a tube amp. That being said, I like this amp too. It’s not going to replace a black face fender or $3000 boutique build. But it is great to have around for an impromptu jam or small club show. I keep it on a pedal board with a few dirt boxes, some modulation pedals, and a e.q. I can get a pretty great tone from it with the right settings. Plus I’ve got a 1 year old that takes a lot of naps, and this thing gets real quiet. I plug it into a 1×15 can and noodle around at home or with friends and it does the trick, especially if you put a little reverb and low gain o.d. In front of it. Is it worth $400? To me yes. It’s a small solid state amp with superb cleans and does what it’s suppose to do well. But I’ve also got tube amps for a more harmonically rich tone. I wouldn’t buy it as my main amp, but for small gigs and ease of use it’s a total winnerNik

Honestly thought I was settling with this guy and assumed I’d be returning it for something with more power. Boy was I wrong. This little dude powers my orange PPC412 with zero issues and is super loud. I’m currently using the helix stomp as my live rig to the powerstage and right to the cab. I’ve got the volume set not even at 20% and it can be heard over another guitarist, bassist and drummer. 10/10 recommend this guy.David Scott.

So I got an idea to build a fly rig basically everything I need in a pedal bag. I ordered the on-stage pedal bag from MF which is perfect heavy construction and and quality bag with just a few pedals and the right distortion pedal the power stage plugged directly into a cabinet 412 or 212 actually sounds so much better than my other amps. Because I like the power stage I am actually going to get a backup and sell my other amps because I don't need them anymore. What a great idea just a pedal bag and the guitar that's all you need I highly recommend the powerstage 170 I did research on other brands and decided to try this with the built-in 3-band EQ you can do some quick tweaking on the Fly for whatever room you are playing in. Honestly I don't write reviews but this pedal is such a game-changer I had to post one. So pick one up you won't regret it and check out the affordable on stage pedalboard with bag.Stevo179

Like everyone else on the internet said, the instructions are terrible but who cares about that. It was super easy to figure out and put it together. This being a lower end simulator chassis, the build quality was impressive and worth the three hundred something moneys I gave Walmart. I would recommend this. Two thumbs way up. I'm running the Logitech PS4 wheel, pedals, and stick shift. The holes line up and bolt to it. The bolts to mount the three were not included with the GTR Simulator or from Logitech. I used spare IKEA bolts.NiceGuy

I am using the GT001 for home recording and so far am extremely pleased with it. It is very compact and so can go either on a desk surface or the floor. I do not use this for playing out, but it seems to be built like a truck; for gigging, the only problem I would anticipate is its light weight. Unlike many very small devices that tend to have a lot of "secret codes" to remember in their user interfaces, this one is very intuitive and easy to use. I replaced a Line6 POD X3 with this (because of reliability issues and the clunky Line6 user interface), and find the Boss unit much easier to dial in. For those who like a printed manual, the one supplied is small but pretty good, and it's easy to find what you want. The GT001 controls are thoughtfully designed, and the display is quite useful despite being rather small. The presets are nicely done, although (as has been mentioned here) they tend to be heavy on the distortion. Happily, this is easy to change. The ability to change details of each effect as well as their order in the signal chain is good, and nicely implemented in the user interface. For recording, the ability to grab both the clean and effected signals is a big plus. In all, an excellent piece of gear at a very reasonable price. In case it's not clear from the sales page and from what others have written, this unit is the GT100 in a (much) smaller package, for much less money. If you're intending to use it for recording, this is a clear choice and a real bargain. If you are going straight from this unit to an audio interface or computer, the interface is USB only (no Firewire or Thunderbolt), but works just fine.Bob

I was looking for something portable with decent sounds to record rough ideas. As usual with most modeling stuff, the cleans and fx are great but the od/high gain presets are just ok. Note: I havnt deep edited anything yet so may be able to create decent dirt. One thing i really dont like is the amount of grounding hum this thing produces on high gain settings. This product is amazing! Anyone who wants an audio interface/DI box/re-amp box should get this. This is ideal for beginners and seasoned musicians alike and will fulfil so many of my recording needs. One negative which is why I didn't give full marks. NO USB CABLE! For the price point and compared to cheaper audio interfaces this product should come with a USB cable or at least have it clearly advertised that a USB cable is not included. It's very well-engineered in build quality – quieter at high gain than most, but…the LEDs are too bright (on a dark stage you can't see beyond them to the controls), the 4 wiring option cuts out the amp reverb (Fender Supersonic) when the V4 is kicked in, and although Channel 2 is good for solo's the Ch1 is a bit fizzy for crunch. Overall disappointing, and does not sound as good to me as my HT Dual pedal made by a certain company from Northampton.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

Initially I struggled to find a sound that I liked from this pre-amp, probably because I am not a great Marshall fan but I persevered and by knocking back the mids a bit and playing with the bright switch, I eventually found the sound I was looking for. I am using this in a 4-cable configuration with a V4 'The Jack' amp, which is itself a fantastic piece of kit.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

Very well built. Overall sounds excellent with some issues. Single set of tone controls doesn't work well as the 2 channels are distinctly different. Doesn't do clean well at lower gain; you need plenty of headroom and it then cleans up OK. Will probably need a clean preamp of some sort to switch to for clean. Noticeable audio pop when switching channels. If you want that Plexi-type sound this will do the trick.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

Overall: This is a heavy duty pedal with so many different great sounding amps and effects that I don't even know where to start. Well built is an understatement. The build of it screams professional. from the chassis to the knobs and expression pedal this thing feels Pro in every way.The amps are fewer than most companies offer but BOSS went the quality over quantity route here. From crystalline cleans to all out brutal and everything in between. The drives are excellent and so are the modulations, delays, and reverbs. I find them superior to my Helix actually. There's not enough room in this review box for me to go over everything I love. A couple things I do not love..There's no poly pitch in this unit. The assigns can be confusing at times especially when it comes to assigning the expression pedal. It was ok once I wrapped my head around it but it was definitely and obstacle I had to overcome. Overall this unit is well worth the 599 price tag. I have owned many modeling units for many years and this is one of the best I have had.Robert
