This was a replacement for a club PA 'monitors' amp that died. Every musician who plays in this club operated the PA themselves and as we all know, every musician in an electronics genius – NOT, so simple is better. Once it is set up, the Peavey IPR2 3000 has the on / off switch and channel 1 & channel 2 volume controls. The Peavey IPR2 3000 also has the horsepower to power 4 passive 12" floor monitors well. Very light weight which is a positive for me. I think I should’ve went with more power as I’m using this amplifier to power 2 Peavey QW4F speakers. Bass amps over 1000W are very expensive with the price about double for 1500W vs. 1000W. I needed a high performance bass amp that I could afford and after doing quite a bit of research online, I chose the Peavey IPR2 3000. I have a 4U rack w/tube preamp & power conditioner and use Ch A for my 4,5&6 string basses and Ch B for my bass synths. I used the rig live for the first time this week (medium size gig) and I must say the sound quality is studio grade at 4 ohm loads/ch. Plus the amp can expand to 2 ohm loads/ch (double cabs!) and includes patch outputs for subwoofers for large outdoor arenas. Thanks to AMS "rock star" program, I'm very pleased with this purchase! This amp can deliver excellent price/performance in many more applications than just DJ or PA use.

I have bought and sold several amps over the past few years, and I think this one's the keeper. It reminds me a bit of the katana 50 in that it has lots of features – but it is far easier to figure out how to use. I wish it had a slightly smaller footprint, for portability's sake, but the sound and usability make up for it. I also wish manufacturers would provide more useful documentation, but there are lots of helpful videos on the web. From clean, to crunch, to filthy – and some Fender Vibratone if you like – this amp can do just about anything.CR

This is peavey's earlier realization of the classic 50 amp. i bought this about 4 years ago when i left for college and it has served me well as a gigging amplifier. i just put new tubes in about a week ago and the amp is sounding great. i'm mostly a jazz player, so i never really utilized the drive channel, nor has the amp been played very hard but both channels are functioning perfectly. it's a used amp from the 90's so you'll definitely notice checks and small tears in the tolex, a missing chickened knob, replaced handle, and a new heavy duty power cable. the amp has its stories but has been playing strong for me since i got it. i put the vw logo on the front for extra swag, but i can take that off if you would prefer, the big band i played with called it "the van." it's heavy, loud, and plays well with pedals. happy playing!

I got this in on Wednesday, took it to church, set it up and played through it that night. I am very pleased with the clean sound. I don't know much about dirty sound as I only play clean… But it seems like it's easy to get about any sound you want! This amp is easily up there with my Bassman and Blues DeVille 4x10s, with plenty of power and headroom baby. Good value due to lower price point. Built right, sounds warm and clear, but gets thick and growls too, nice wet reverb. I got a great condition level 1 – mint deal on this monster tweed tonal heavy hitter. What a surprise this amp is! Sounds every bit as good as the best clean amp ever produced, The F*nder Super Reverb, but actually has a little extra warmth. Got this amp for playing in the bedroom. I'm playing an Epiphone Les Paul Vintage Edition guitar via a VOX StompLab SL1G. I've been able to get good sound through the amp with some nice warm tones. Beefed things up a bit with some grunge and it handled it very well. At higher volumes the speaker remains clear and free of cracking as I have had in other smaller amps.
