Having been messing around with an acoustic for far too many years I decided to treat myself to an electric, and started the search for an amp. I had a few options but went with the Crush 20RT and haven't regretted it. For its size the sound quality is great, and the eq controls allow you to get a nice range of distinct tones. Having the dirty volume away from the gain dial takes some getting used to, but isn't a deal-breaker, and if you find the rather small switch to swap between clean and dirty channels a bit fiddly, you can pick up a foot switch which connects nicely on the back of the amp. Built in reverb is nice, but if you are big on using reverb I'd imagine you'd want to get a dedicated pedal. Tuner seems hit and miss, and again more accurate results will be obtained via a stand alone product. Both good features to have, especially as a starter amp. Overall, highly recommended!Kevin E.
This is definitely the best sounding practice amp I've ever used. The gain channel has several different levels of gain, all sound great. Anywhere from a slightly crunchy overdrive sound to sizzling distortion. I've never had an amp this size handle metal tones so well. The clean channel handles distortion pedals well and maintains the tone of the amp, and if you wanna add a little something extra, putting an overdrive in front of the dirty channel really pushes the mids through. All very impressive for an 8 inch speaker.

Now let me first state that Guitar Center is the only place I'd buy this from, to try it out and return it to the store. Guitar Center is the BEST. This little amplifier is the WORST. I bought this specifically for it's cabinet output and the fact that it can run on a 9 volt battery. I own four other mini amplifiers, two of them are pedals and the other two are Blackstar Fly 3 (with the extension cabinet.) Here's the crux of my review: The Blackstar Fly 3 is louder and sounds far better than the Orange Crush Mini, even if that Crush Mini is powering a larger speaker cabinet (a 2×10, in this case.) So yes, two 3" speakers in the Blackstar are louder, and the sound quality is far superior to the Orange Crush Mini driving a 2×10" cabinet. The Crush Mini's 3" speaker is unusable, sounds very tinny and is very low volume. Now, I also have two pedal amps that run on 9 volts, an Electro Harmonix 5mm and a VHT Redline 6. The 5mm is amazing, and the VHT is very good also. So if you want to drive a cabinet with a pedal size amp you can put in your pocket, try the Electro Harmonix 5mm. The VHT Redline is also very good and has the added features of an aux in jack and headphone out jack. An adapter cable to use a battery can be had (I have a few of them.) Avoid the Orange Crush Mini, the Blackstar Fly 3 is far superior.John

The tone is very mid focused. It cuts nicely in a mix. The low end is tight & mild, not flubby. The onboard reverb is not bad, definitely usable. It's part of the master section, after the effects loop, so it's included in both the speaker output signal and the direct output signal but not included in the effects send output signal. Silent recording using the effects loop send will not include the onboard reverb. The clean channel has a lot of clean headroom but also provides a nice tube-ish type breakup tone when maxed out. I tested the clean channel with several overdrives and distortion pedals, it takes pedals well. I wish the clean channel was a little less mid focused. Using an EQ pedal in the effects loop should help resolve. The effects loop is nice, clean and quiet. The XLR direct output with cab sim does not sound great on it's own. Using the direct out with impulse responses made a huge difference. Sounds great when using with IR's. The master volume knob controls both the direct output and the speaker output. For silent recording, I imagine you can run the amp without a speaker connected. Seeing that the power amp is class A/B, it should be able to operate without a load, no issue… but I would double check with Orange support before doing so. Overall great amp!!Jason

I live in an apartment building, and it's just not realistic to crank up my large tube amps while I'm at home. So, I searched for a small combo to use at home. I just needed something small with a great sound, for practice and songwriting. I looked at all of the usual contenders, but the form factor and name brand of Orange really caught my eye. I've played Orange tube amps before, but never one of their small practice amps. I set up this amp on my bookshelf, roughly at eye level. And wow, this amp sounds unbelievably amazing at home volume levels. I can play at a volume which I enjoy, without disturbing my neighbors. I can get an amazing tone without having to crank up my volume. This amp takes pedals so extremely well. I do not use the onboard distortion, but rather I just use my favorite distortion pedals. I simply cannot say enough about how awesome this amp sounds. I strongly suggest, however, that this amp needs to be at a higher elevation, ideally at the same elevation as your head. My amp is roughly 6 feet off the ground, on the top shelf of my bookcase, and it sounds incredible up there compared to having it on the ground. Time will tell regarding its durability. But, I don't plan on taking it out of my house or playing at live settings with it. I envision that it will just stay on my bookshelf permanently. I don't even adjust any of the knobs, now that I have it dialed in. I just turn it off and on.OrangeNYC
First one I ordered arrived D.O.A. That should have been my warning sign to get something else instead. Guitar Center was nice enough to quickly send a replacement, though. The replacement arrived and all was well for about 3-4 months. Amp didn't sound bad but it wasn't spectacular or anything. Decent distortion, nice clean tone. Basic. But now the replacement amp is dead too, for no reason that I can discern besides faulty workmanship or bad parts or something. It sat plugged in and never got moved the entire time, wasn't cranked to 11 or anything like that…it just, like, gave up. I probably had less than 10 hours total on the thing. My advice would be to avoid this one and buy something else.Just a Guitar Guy

Edit: she takes pedals like a total champ and I only say this because I am using very very cheap Chinese mini pedals and a boss metal zone. Lot of my other small amps dont like all the cheap pedals plugged in but the orange can handle all.
Edit 2: I've accidentally dropped the amp from about 4 feet twice now and she hasn't broken. Was 100 percent sure it was gonna be busted but it's fine. Tough little guy.Duncan Whopper

As others have written, I too chuckled when opening the box. It’s smaller than I thought it’d be. However, it can crank. Teamed it up with an Orange PPC12 and scared the neighbors dog. I play a Rockerverb onstage and figured hey I'll grab a micro Terror for the studio when I'm working on demoes and practicing. Everyone raves about how it does the Rockerverb thing so hey why not? Don't bother. At best it's a little practice amp but I honestly like my Hotone Heart Attack better. This terror is kind of scratchy and just a little league sound. I love Orange amps but this one pales in comparison to the classics. I guess you get what you pay for but I expected more than this.jq127
I bought this with a ppc108 cabinet – as my review for that cab says, I was very surprised how good and powerful they are together. I thought I would eventually get a larger cabinet for it, but i would only need to if using it for a live performance with a full band. (might be able to get away with ppc108 with a quiet drummer…) For just playing by myself or jamming with other guitar/bass players it is more than enough. This amp can get you great classic rock tone – but I play all styles of music and generally more jazz and hard rock sometimes into the metal range – and this sounds great for that as well. For full on metal you might want to add your favorite distortion pedal but the tube overdrive of the amp itself sounds fantastic! I haven't tried myself but this thing can drive a 4X12 cabinet pretty well according to videos that I've seen. It really sounds like a slightly scaled back version of a full amp head. for the price you will not be disappointed. You could definitely use this for amateur recording – probably professional recording as well but by then you've probably got a bigger amp. Any one who wants a tube amp to mess around with but doesn't have a lot of money to throw around should check this out – or if you just want something very portable. Note that this is a hybrid, it has solid state power and one tube for the preamp, but don't be afraid, it sounds great! It's louder than you might expect and although with the ppc108 it dosen't have extreme low end, it still has good low tones when used with six string guitars in standard as well as C tuning and I have used it with an 8 string guitar, which flops a little on the low string but with a larger cabinet would probably be fine. I highly recommend this amazing tiny amp. Watch some youtube videos if you aren't convinced. For portability the ppc108 cabinet works very well with this and still sounds very nice, but again you can power larger cabinets including 4X12.valvetuber42

Purchased the Orange Crush RT35 through Musicians Friend. The amp on its own is a joy. However, the send and return used with a pedal board loaded w/o overdrive properly transports this amp on the Clean channel to an extreme I've experienced on a tube amp level. I used a Walrus EB 10 parametric pedal then a reverb, delay and slight echo at the end of the chain. The amp incredibly warmed, thickened and boosted the tone to one that competes with any of the high end tube amps I have ever used. Totally shocked! I will experiment with the overdrive on the dirty channel and an OD on the front end very soon. I expect good results. For the money and it's being a solid state, it is super impressive and a great value. I did do a lot of research and comparison, took the plunge, and the payoff was more than I could expect. I just A/B'd it with a 40 watt Fender Hot Rod Deluxe (with this set-up) in a studio and it definitely held its own and, I feel, it sounded better. It's a budget amp so you can't expect it to do the same as an expensive one. With that said it just doesn't punch above it's weight, it's punching well above it's weight. I have a pre tube amp that has some tubes in it's pre amp, that isn't quite a full tube amp and this isn't quite a full tube amp either or on the face of i an any tube amp, being it's solid state, but it does sound as warm as the pre tube I have, so that's a bonus for me, I prefer warmer tones. So that means not only heavy rock/metal but some very nice bluesy soft rock tones as well. Bult in reverb sounds really nice. The tuner is perfect, no faffing around trying to dial in the tuning. Best tuner on a lower end amp yet and better than my clip on one I have. It has 4 stages of gain, if you will. So pretty versitile. The amp is loud. I never run it in the house over 3 on the volume. It has one volume for clean but the dirty dial is for the gain volume. And it's adjusting this and the gain knob that gets you all your tones for the not clean sounds Two seperate channels with a simple EQ to use for both. Amp is sturdy as you like, well built. And the clincher is the return and send loop on the back., which works very well, a lovely clean loop. The most surprising thing was you associate orange with rockier sounds but this is a nice clean amp too. I might even prefer the clean channel actually. My advice is see reviews for it. There is one thats 20 or so mins long and shows you all the settings and the tones you can find. No brainer for the price and probably worth 100 quid more if you ask me but don't say I told you so or they will put up the price.R O.
I admit I've cycled through several practice amps – a couple of Fender Champions, Marshall MG, Orange Crush Mini, Strymon Iridium, a bunch of headphone amps, etc. This one is a winner. I've always heard good things about Orange quality and longevity. I like the Orange clean sound but I admit it's not for everyone. I play ambient guitar, mostly clean, with some overdrive from pedals. You'd think Fender would be my thing, right? Nope, the Champions just don't sound good compared to the Orange Crush amps. Plus, this combo amp is built like a tank. At the moment I'm running a stereo rig with the Orange Crush 35 and a Marshall MG15 (modded with speaker out pushing a Marshall 1×12), both on clean channels only, and it sounds really good. A brilliant wee amp, which packs a hell of a lot more than the 20w on the spec. You can really crank it. I was sceptical before I bought it, seeing it’s more marketed to the ‘metal’ players among us. I play some metal, but hard, bluesy overdriven tones is what I like to play more than metal. It can really go for the scooper mids metal tone as well as a lower end bluesy tone. So it caters for all. I bought this as a little practice amp that I can use primarily as a clean pedal platform at home for late night playing, and it works fantastic for this. Better than I'd hoped. It's very, very loud, so I used an EQ pedal in the FX loop with the level slider all the way down. The Orange dirt sound isn't totally my thing but I do like to mess around with it now and then, and this thing scratches that itch without having to spend a bunch of money on a bigger Orange head. Quite surprised at how great this is. I've tried some other solid state clean pedal platform solutions, and this Micro Dark has probably been the best of them. For context, I hit it with a Friedman BE-OD, Wampler Pantheon, & Spark Booster and all sound just as they are intended to sound. It's a great amp for very little money for sure!KC

It's not to say this is always a bad, I know people that love this amp for doom, stoner and sludge metal for high gain and other that love it because they're not modern metal players that need a tight response.5. In order to get this amp to play modern metal that actually sounds good(not an Ola Englund post processed video with great pickups and speakers) you'll need a Tube Screamer(or a good Tube Screamer clone), at least a 112 cab and preferably an EQ ion the FX loop to iron out any bad frequencies. Didn't love this shirt as much as I love my other CR gear. It came as a free add on with another piece of apparel I purchased. The side pockets make the cut a bit strange and it runs a bit small on me. I wear almost everything in an XL with an occasional L. I like a little room in my active wear – especially for more aggressive trail riding or casual urban rides. If I wanted tight gear, I'd buy regular bike jerseys. Love this amp. I got it for a portable grab and go that's loud enough to be heard over drums. It's a million times easier to move than my head and cab, and it's plenty loud when you crank it. It was easy dialing in tones in both channels. The clean channel is good, but not spectacular. The reverb choices help a lot. I'm not a reverb guy, but I actually love the reverb on this amp. If sparkling cleans are your priority get a JC120. The dirty channel is a monster. Add some hall reverb and you have a killer Van Halen tone. Turn off the reverb and you have Pantera up the wazoo. The voice of the world speaker sounds pretty decent. As you turn up the amp the tone stays generally the same, and doesn't get muddy. I put a Celestion 75 watt creamback, and a heavy gauge speaker cable in mine and it's phenomenal sounding now. Fat and full at low volumes, and when you crank it the punch and clarity get better the louder you go. Get this amp. Sounds great straight out of the box. Upgrade the speaker and you'll have a pro grade sounding amp that will destroy anything in its path.Lank Dangle
This is stellar I had no idea just how good it would be. Looks great in black – I was so close to an orange Orange but a just preferred the understated looks of this… The clean channel is punchy and I've had no trouble dialling in a great bright clean sound with my Les Paul on 10 its just before break up my Tele sounds sublime through it. The dirty channel can go crazy, but that's not my thing. I've got a nicely screaming tone available but tend to roll the guitar volume back to 7/8 sounds good… cleans up around 6 and is very useable. It's a keeper the reverbs are good I'm running around 2 maybe just 3 using plate. The master volume is good dosen't suck the tone when low so very useful for playing at home. I've push some drive pedals into the front but I love the dirty channel so have been using that on its own. With my looper I'm using the dirty channel creating a loop with the guitar vol backed off and then pushing the amp with the guitars vol control for lead. it's so much fun sounds ace.Nicholas C.

I've played for 44 years on stage, recorded, collected guitars and amplifiers, I am a guitar tech, sound engineer, touring musician, also I have one set of ears! I have played almost every giggable amp made, and every guitar sound from humbuckers to single coils. I love this amp because in one beautiful box at 60w I can get almost any sound that I want, I dont care if I can plug into a toaster through a 4×12 cab, if it sounds great, it is. If your guitar is set up, your cables are good, your amp is properly grounded, and your strings are clean, you do not have to get into the I need 21 pedals thing, just plug in, maybe have a few pedals, and turn it up!!!! Tubes sound great, but with all the pcb problems a lot of amps do not have the mojo that they did back in the days of craftmanship. This amp is the modern choice for me, at a great price, It sounds fantastic, no tube swap, failure, pcb burn through, or babying. This amp reminds me of old tube amps I played in the 70s that were made in the 60s get one, I got mine price reduced. Stamp into Orange 1×12 loaded with Vintage 30. Guitar into MXR Noise Clamp then Distortion III. Analog Chorus and Reverb (the only thing that's primarily digital in my rig) in the Stamp's effects loop. Wired so that the preamp section of the Stamp is in the Noise Clamp's loop as well as the Distortion III. I'm not going totally clean on the Stamp, using the Distortion to boost it and the Chorus is always on to give it a "wetness" to the signal (rate and depth can be on zero). The Stamp and Distortion III give this gnarly midrange voicing (with its tone knob around 11:00) that makes me feel like I'm playing through a cranked stack though I'm actually at bedroom volume. The sound is warm and huge with no shrill highs yet killer upper midrange cut. It's easy to see that this would compete with an acoustic drum set and seriously cut through a mix.
These are WAY CQQL little amps! The only thing that I changed out on mine is the 12AX7 tube inside. I removed the stock JJ tube and installed a Tung-Sol and OMG! So much more Volume, Sustain, Clean Clarity, Note Articulation and Headroom – NO MUDDINESS! Get this, while you are in there changing the tube, you will notice a mini Tube Gain Trim Pot. I backed mine all the way to the left then set it to half way up and this works perfect for me cuz I use it for Cleans and use Pedals for the rest. It still has plenty of Gain though on its own. This is my 3rd Orange Product. I also own the Micro Dark Terror and LOVE them Both. Try one out today! Soooo Affordable and real tube Tone! Can't wait to get home from work and WAIL on it some more!!!
I bought this as a practice amp along with a 108 cab. My live rig involves a lot of pedals including using an fx loop and there are very few practice amps out there with a loop. I love the twin volume switches for boosting, and it sounds great clean as well as driven. Having a DI out makes it more versatile but bear in mind you’ll need a longer than usual speaker lead (I found out after that Orange make a 20’ speaker cable: worth buying. I should point out that this can get very loud so good for small gigs too. Only two issues, I would like an extra switch to turn the loop on and off (like I have on my Marshall origin) and I have found it gets quite noisy with the fx loop connected. This may be down to my cheap power brick on my pedal board but never had this issue with my Marshall. There are other pedal sized amps out there but this is one of the cheapest and definitely worth the money. Slightly more than a tiny terror but that doesn’t have the fx loopDaniel C.

I play a Rockerverb onstage and figured hey I'll grab a micro Terror for the studio when I'm working on demoes and practicing. Everyone raves about how it does the Rockerverb thing so hey why not? Don't bother. At best it's a little practice amp but I honestly like my Hotone Heart Attack better. This terror is kind of scratchy and just a little league sound. I love Orange amps but this one pales in comparison to the classics. I guess you get what you pay for but I expected more than this.jq127
I bought this with a ppc108 cabinet – as my review for that cab says, I was very surprised how good and powerful they are together. I thought I would eventually get a larger cabinet for it, but i would only need to if using it for a live performance with a full band. (might be able to get away with ppc108 with a quiet drummer…) For just playing by myself or jamming with other guitar/bass players it is more than enough. This amp can get you great classic rock tone – but I play all styles of music and generally more jazz and hard rock sometimes into the metal range – and this sounds great for that as well. For full on metal you might want to add your favorite distortion pedal but the tube overdrive of the amp itself sounds fantastic! I haven't tried myself but this thing can drive a 4X12 cabinet pretty well according to videos that I've seen. It really sounds like a slightly scaled back version of a full amp head. for the price you will not be disappointed. You could definitely use this for amateur recording – probably professional recording as well but by then you've probably got a bigger amp. Any one who wants a tube amp to mess around with but doesn't have a lot of money to throw around should check this out – or if you just want something very portable. Note that this is a hybrid, it has solid state power and one tube for the preamp, but don't be afraid, it sounds great! It's louder than you might expect and although with the ppc108 it dosen't have extreme low end, it still has good low tones when used with six string guitars in standard as well as C tuning and I have used it with an 8 string guitar, which flops a little on the low string but with a larger cabinet would probably be fine. I highly recommend this amazing tiny amp. Watch some youtube videos if you aren't convinced. For portability the ppc108 cabinet works very well with this and still sounds very nice, but again you can power larger cabinets including 4X12.valvetuber42

Orange amps in modern day are great. This amp has a TON of power. The clean channel is great and you can mix it with pedals no problem. The distortion is good you can mix a lot of levels to get a desired sound and the built in reverb is great they really made this amp for the plug in and play people that just love to turn it up. Tone Monster that's true analog solid state. I really like the clean and overdrive tones. But I do use pedals on this amp for high gain. I use the Boss Metal Zone in the effects loop and straight in. I also use the MXR Fullbore Metal pedal too. I like them both with this amp. I use them in the clean channel and on the dirt channel with the gain turned down and since you have more EQ controls on the dirty channel you can get more tones out of the amp. I think the Orange Crush Pro is an excellent amp, I have the 120 watt head for home use and at practice I use the CR-60 pro combo amp. They sound both the same but with the head I am running it head through a 212 Mesa Engineering cab with Celestion Vintage 30 speakers. This sounds huge and a wall of sound but I will not lie the 112 Combo CR60 pro sounds really good too and that's because the cab is a well made 3/4" plywood enclosure. You can feel the air more with the combo amp and it sounds great cranked or at bedroom levels. I like what I bought, the 112 Crush Pro 60 watt combo amp is a excellent buy and if you know what you want out of it you will enjoy the amp. The cleans are great and the reverb sounds really good. The dirt channel is great for dirty blues or rock n roll but for that high gain I use pedals.*forty6and2*

This is my second Orange after having a OR15 a few years ago. The sound was good but I couldn't get it to clean up enough. This Rockerverb has a clean channel so that soled that. The MKIII is supposed to be brighter than the previous version but it needs to be dimed to be Shiney. Distortion sounds great

So, I don't shred, I am not anywhere close to being a metal guy or a classic rock guy which orange amps are known for. I play alt rock/shoe gaze and I took a big leap of faith on this amp. Never heard it live before and really just based my ideas off of reviews online. This amp is beyond what the reviews show and sound like. It literally took me about 15 minutes to dial in an amazing sound. It adapted to my pedals perfectly and I have't even started playing the the FX loop option. I don't have cheap pedals so the amp really has to have a pure clean sound for them to shine like they need too and this amp not only did that but made my pedals sound better than even I expected them too. It's heavy and it's expensive but I will never look back and wonder if I made the right decision. It is more than I could have hoped for. I am running it through a vox 2X12 with green backs for a cabinet. Great sounds and great amp!!!!John
I've played a lot of amps through the years. Including this guy I now own 6 that I've kept and let me tell you this thing covers the spectrum. This is the 3rd Orange I've owned, always felt the others shined in one area but missed somewhere else. Not the case with the Rockerverb Mark 3. Both channels are fully usable and I don't have a single complaint. I usually use a pedal for reverb but the reverb in this amp works incredibly well. It's also plenty loud enough for any situation. Amazing amounts of headroom. The built in attenuator works very well. You pay a premium for an amp like this but it's absolutely worth every penny. I literally cannot stop using it. If you find yourself struggling to decide if you should make the investment just stop and do it. You'll thank me later. A huge thanks to Jake and all the guys at Sweetwater for having this in stock and getting it out to me earlier than expected. Killer customer service as always!

I'm running my Epi Thunderbird through one of these bad boys and the tone is incredible. It's warm and luscious, yet somehow punchy and articulate at the same time. The parametric mid EQ is a great tool that allows you to sculpt your tone for any situation. The bi-amp setup is brilliant, the distortion on this thing sounds absolutely fantastic. It keeps up with a full band no problem. Perfect for a small venue. The DI out is post-EQ and fx, and sounds super full, seriously almost as good as a mic'd up cab. I knocked off a star for two reasons. The main reason- it does not come with a footswitch. A little annoying, considering the price of the amp.. Also there is not a volume for the dirty channel, so it's a little tricky to get your levels right when switching between clean and blended channels. I bought this all because i wanted something a little louder than my rumble 40 and a different sound. Though i do like the tones i can get, my rumble 40 is significantly louder!! For my purposes this amp just has way to much gain. Anything above 8 o'clock you're basically in fuzz territory. I've been in the music scene my whole life, grew up in a family of musicians, along with cousins, uncles and aunts that played too, some are still playing! My younger days as a kid I started off playing drums then in my late thirties played the guitar then ukulele. As I'm now in my middle sixties staying home with this COVID19 thing, there wasn't a lot to do so now I've concentrated on getting a new toy, a Fender Jazz Bass. I'm new to the instrument so my toughest decision was deciding on what bass amp to get, did a lot of research and ended up getting this Orange crush 100 bass combo. This is a very good looking unit, love that Orange, what I like about this amp is the dials, pretty straight forward, plain and simple and it features the pretty little icons above them, can't go wrong with that and 100 watts is just perfect for just "at home" playing but if I had to take it out for some jam sessions there would be more than enough power to be noticed. I've had this amp for about 1 1/2 months still playing with the settings, I Iike the "tuning" LED feature that is built in the amp, now the cons; 1: kind of on the heavy side weighting in at 53 lbs a bit too much for me I guess just being lazy, and 2: being that I live in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, "Hawaii" there was NO FREE SHIPPING and it cost an arm and maybe part of a leg for this thing to get here. Otherwise go out and get yours…ALOHA!

Great sounding amp, sparkling cleans and dirty sounds like a valve amp. I have a Bassman 59 and you can get overdriven tones without having it at meltdown volumes unlike the Bassman. Dont get me wrong you cant get the glassy valve feel of the Bassman but the driven sound is unlike any other amp Ive heard for the money so Im well pleased.saxomanblues

What can I say? This amplifier is amazing, the tone is massive, the gain stages are perfect. The attenuator dials the volume back perfectly without changing the overall structure. This will not be a long review. It would be repetitive. Yes warmth available for clean channel, nice reverb, great dirty channel. Cleans right up with your volume control. You heard all these before. Some things that I prefer over any other amp. The dirty channel sings. No pedals needed. That's why I bought it. I had a Friedman Dirty Shirley 40w Combo. I thought that was great. Tried many amps and when playing a strat always needed pedals. Went crazy with them too. Name it I probably tried it. Lots of boutique too. Not cheap. Fender DRRI / Vox AC15 C1 and X / goodsell / Bogner/ Marshall/ Hughes Kettering/Morgan even Orange OR s. You get the idea. I'm sure you've been there. It's hard to find a good reverb that matches a tank like a fender in any outboard pedal. Even in a good transparent loop. You don't want to put the time based before the input you want it in the loop. It just seems to work best. But you love those single channel sounds. Well I too what worked best for classic rock/ Jazz/ blues/ and hard rock. Took my Friedman and did the ultimate a/b. Sorry should have you tubed it. Took the Orange RVM3 and used it on the Friedman cab. I wanted to hear if the amplifier section was better especially compared to the Friedman with and without pedals. Because you can adjust the tone of your clean and gain channels separately Orange won that fight. Gain vs gain for best clarity and note definition Orange even with pedals in front or gain maxed on the Friedman. The best feature which seems to really kill the lot is the attenuator built in. Lowering volume without killing tone. I will admit I like a creamback speaker with this head vs the vintage 30s orange uses and wish they made the open back in the USA instead of China. But it is a nice cab regardless. So if you listen to this head try it with different cabs. If you are looking for a great head. Yes it's heavy I put it as a con for those who gig. But you do get what you pay for.JAZman
Bought one of these in black from Tanner at the Alpharetta GA store back in June. Saved up for almost 2 years to finally get one. It sounds incredible! The clean channel sounds nice and chimey, as good as any Fender amp you'd want. The dirty channel can do anything from light grit to fully saturated metal textures. The reverb sounds great. And sometimes the reverb on amps only sounds good in one spot on the dial. This one, it sounds right anywhere you set it. You can get a light reverb, some regular everyday medium reverb, and it also does that long droney surf-echo kinda thing really well too. It's my favorite amp. I tried out all of them, and I could've bought any of them, but I chose THIS ONE for a reason. It's the best. The only cons I can say for it: It's VERY heavy. I was previously using an all tube 240w stereo rackmount setup that was miserably heavy. This amp is pretty much just as heavy. The amp lacks a little treble, especially at low volumes. At high volumes (what this beast was born for) it hits that treble spot perfectly. Many people might be tempted to swap out the tubes immediately thinking they are cheap or low quality or bad sounding or whatever else. I'd urge anyone to wait though. After you get a few hours on the tubes, they do sound better. If you still don't really love it, THEN do a tube swap. But why waste money if you don't have to. Give the stock tubes a chance first. They're actually pretty good. Mine came with some chinese made rebranded ones, and they're great. If you're a "mad scientist" kinda player with tons of pedals, this might not be the beast for you. This is an old-school kinda tube amp, and it sometimes doesn't make your pedals sound like you think they should. The preamp of this amp will react to small changes in signal strength from modulation pedals and might not sound as wonderful as you'd like. It has a tube buffered effects loop, and you should definitely USE IT for delays and reverbs.Michael
