I bought this item for my daughter for her birthday and she loved it, it came to our door on time, it was playable and very attractive, unfortunately a relative with a drug problem stole it within a day and we haven't been able to afford a replacement. It would be wonderful if BCP would be willing to ship another to us, but either way, very good product. I'll buy another one in time when we are able to afford it.Steve H.

I have a Stratocaster that I have been learning chords and following the lessons in a book that is instruction for learning scale. Got this to put on my acoustic/electric and my strat. I have been doing MIDI Guitar for over 20 years and the GK-3 pickup system design is the evolution of the species… It is compact and relatively easy to install if you take your time to read the installation guide and have patience, making sure you get the correct distances and pick-up to string tolerance. Most folks will be able to fit this on a guitar in about an hour or less, and get good results. It is important to follow the directions to insure that you get the best tracking response. I used the provided spacers with adhesive-tape to mount the pick-up because I do not want to drill into my guitars for permanent mounting. Roland provided enough sizes of spacers to get the pick-up to string tolerance just right, along with the radius adjustment and the included gauge, I was able to get a really nice set-up. Having years of experience with the Graph Tech Hexaphonic piezo pick-ups and Ghost MIDI pre-amp as well as the earlier versions of the GK MIDI pick-ups and the early Shadow pick-up system. The GK-3 does the job very well… The pre-amp/switching housing is nicely slim and the mounting system is excellent, unobtrusive, easy to install and does not permanently attach to the guitar. No worries about damaging the finish… (Speaking about the Acoustic set-up): After careful installation and matching to my AXON AX-100 system, the tracking is excellent… Pretty amazing to have MIDI tracking on an acoustic! Initially it seems that it produces less false triggers as compared to the Ghost pick-ups/Hexaphonic on a solid-body electric, which are excellent, but the GK-3 system tracking just seems to be a bit more solid, especially with 32nd notes on low-E… With the AX-100 I had to crank the individual string sensitivity levels up to get good string balance as compared to the Ghost/Hexaphonic pick-ups… (The GK-3 will not work for guitars using Silk & Steel or Nylon strings).Lynnwood guy

I use this through a Roland GR-33 (older version of GR-55) that goes to a synth amp and I also have a separate guitar signal from the same guitar that goes to my guitar amp. I can get amazing synth pad tones behind the guitar. Many people wonder if my band has a keyboard player because they can't figure out where the cool synth tones are coming from live. The GK3 opens up a world of possibilities to guitarists who are open to experimenting!neenernouche

I highly recommend the GK3 pickup for use in combination with the Roland GR55. It's an awesome interface for anyone who wants to use their guitar as a MIDI controller. Some problems with a coating on the pin connectors on the cable cause some strings to lose sensitivity, this can be remedied by using de-oxit and by inserting and reinserting both ends of the connector into GK3 a few times. Also the small cord coming up from the pickup is not attached very well and is in a location where your hand continually rides while playing, the small piece covering the cord will eventually work its self off breaking solder connections as a result. I have three guitars with GK3 pickups and one with a GK2. I have always enjoyed plugging straight into my amp with the GK3 pickup through the GR55 Roland guitar synthesizer. Morgan HardistyMORGAN

I had great expectations of this and was very happy with the sounds (and excellent tracking) I initially got with the software. The latency was horrible though, and eventually I upgraded my computer (even changed to Mac platform as it did not work out at all on my Surface Pro). By the time I did this, the "legacy sounds" that were provided with the unit were phased out of support. Although I bought the unit early enough to still have the right to use them, they will no longer work and are completely unsupported. This makes the unit nearly worthless. The software they provide now is very poor, and to add to that it is very difficult to install and you have to jump through endless hoops to authorize it through third parties, having to load software package upon software package to authorize. There is no guarantee that those third parties will continue to support the software, either. The unit does not even come with basic GM sounds. The support from Fishman is hit or miss. Sometimes they will pick up the phone and sometimes they are inexplicably absent for weeks at a time. Email support is perhaps worse. I would recommend you avoid this product unless or until the company gets its act together and provides their own software (in addition to the basic FTP interface, which, BTW, does not support VSTs). Note: the FC-1 controller is not necessary. If you get a USB to MIDI adapter you will be all set, and you can control the patches with the switches on the unit or some other type of MIDI controller which really is the thing to do. Flipping through scores of sounds one by one by one is impractical. If you are already MIDI-literate and are willing to spend considerable additional sums on hardware and/or software to make this work, I'd say give it a try. But don't expect to jump into this from being an effects-literate guitar player without setting aside substantial time and money to make this in any way a practical part of your rig.Nicky T

This was easy to setup, and is well designed. It fit my guitar well, and wasn't hard to get working. The software on the other hand, was a huge hassle. The USB stick installer did NOT work, and I had to find all the software online, which was tricky. The website requires you to download all the software from the manufacturers website, which left me running around dozens of different websites, trying to find all the installers. I still don't know if I got them all, there was no way to tell what came with the dumb thing! Despite what they'd like you to believe, the midi packs included are very minor. It's just the typical assortment of synth sounds, like you'd get from any cheap keyboard or software synth. Mostly cartoonish and not useful. I thought it was going to come with a bunch of cool sounds. Nope. Once I got the software working, I gave it a try. While it was able to translate my playing to midi, relatively well, the tracking wasn't the best. If the pickup wasn't right near the strings, it would glitch out. Also, the velocity was way off, and varied widely. Furthermore, the fret position it detected was not accurate to what I was playing. Also, the pickup is curved slightly. My strings are flat, and not curved, so that didn't help. None of my guitars have curved strings, not sure why this is curved. This worked decently. I'd say it's worth a quarter of what they're selling it for. That's how much I'd say it's worth. The price is just too much for something that doesn't work well, and has poor quality software. You're better off buying a cheap tabletop keyboard controller that works than this half-functional toy.Alex C

It's an itty bitty little thing. It's so lightweight it almost floats away! It was perfectly set up out of the box, it arrived with no damage. First, I tuned it. (It was close, whoever set it up musta tuned it before shipping). It's got very accurate tuning pegs, not like a Squier or Glarry, with slack in the pegs. Then I sat down and ran through some scales, and strummed some chords. It's got a fast playing neck. I can play faster on this guitar, than any I've tried, and I've played hundreds of guitars from an American Fender 52 reissue Telecaster, down to the terrible cheap electric guitars of the 1960s. Anyway, I finally got around to plugging into my Blackstar Fly 3 battery amp, and wow those Mitchell humbuckers are HOT! I love this little thing, it's going to be my main axe, and I'm going to order it a new hard shell case, so it stays looking great.The Volkswagen Cowboy

For the most part; this a pretty nice beginner's guitar. It has nice features that aren't usually found on cheaper guitars. I was very impressed with the body contours, pickup arrangement, sealed tuners, & string through body. I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my son. I paid a little extra for expedited shipping & it arrived less than 48hrs after I ordered it! Everything was great until I tuned up the guitar & found that the claims that "every guitar receives a stateside set up" are entirely false. The ends of the fret wire are extremely sharp; there's no way that I'd let a child attempt to play this without first filing down/ dressing the frets to avoid gouging your hands. It seems to stay in tune fairly well; which is rather surprising as the neck is NOT properly bolted to the guitar body. There is a relatively large gap between the neck & body- large enough to see daylight! The gap is likely due to common machine assembly w/ poor quality control. I'm somewhat excited to see how well this guitar will play after I disassemble the neck, drill the body holes 1/16" larger, file the frets, & reassemble w/ some higher quality strings. Even with the additional work that's necessary; it's still a rather nice guitar & definitely cheaper than a project guitar. Last time I checked; it was around $20 or so to have a guitar set up by a Luthier- so it still works out to be a decent buy if you bought it & paid to have it set up. I'm just rather disappointed that the only problem with the entire transaction is a very simple issue that could be avoided w/ a couple tweaks of the CNC machines spitting these out by the 100's…Jonathan

I am quite fond of short scale guitars, and I rate this one quite high on the list of must haves! Frets are adequately dress, it is quite light, finish (walnut satin) is excellent. Playability is quite good, intonation is spot on, even the pickups are ok, though I did change them out on mine, along with putting some shielding paint in the pickup and control cavities and swapping out the potentiometers (none of this was necessary, but you know how us guitarists can be!). The kind of music I like is 70s rock, 80s and 90s metal, I don't play clean much – always some grit coming outta the amp! I got this on sale, so it was well below $100. Not sure what else to say, but if you are on the fence about getting one of these, either for yourself or a young, aspiring rocker, just pull the trigger, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Main thing to keep in mind on this is playability and setup are very good for a guitar in its price point even at full price, maybe even twice the price. Is it perfect? No, but it doesn't need to be, just needs to be good and it is. Just get the darn thing. it's a fun guitar to play, looks and sounds good as well.Scott

Overall: I had the system professionally installed in a Cordoba F7 Paco nylon string guitar and could not be happier. The crisp tone from the under saddle pick up is great and when I blend in the microphone I am to achieve a very realistic tone that’s easy on the listeners ears. I also use the Fishman Platinum Stage DI to shape my tone. When used together it’s a fantastic and rich clean sonic tone. Thanks Fishman & zZounds.Victor

I have experiences with various pickups, mostly the passive kind, that have left me wanting. The last kind, also a Fishman, had a rubber covering for the sound hole that interfered with my finger picking, and then having the cord dribble out from the front of the sound hold left something to be desired too. This unit, though on the pricey side, is just what the doctor ordered. Clear, crisp tone – sounds like your guitar! And you get to play to your heart's content with whether you want the pickups or the mic or both to capture that sound. I can tell you that you can probably spend the rest of your life seeking that "sweet spot" for the position of the condenser mic. Not that it's not there, just that I think you'd need a really really good set of ears to discern the difference.jefbu_1398

When you buy this system, they want you to have a tech install it, however, if you have a little knowledge about these systems and know how to handle a few basic tools, you can easily install it yourself! The sound quality is great, it will feedback thru the mic, so be careful when adjusting the mix and the volume, the Phase switch will get rid of most of this! Bought it for my Martin DST and sounds wonderful through my tube amps! With this system you will not need a dedicated acoustic amp!Orting

The Jamstik Studio guitar is a quality built 3/4 scale electric guitar with a midi bluetooth interface. It works well with jamstiks creator software and with third party IOS apps for midi.jehi_117022

MIDI outputs on 3 strings after 4 hours of adjustment and new strings. Bluetooth connectivity is non-existent. Doesnt work at all. The bridge is something youve never seen before and you get to learn setup and tuning all over again- and it doesnt even work that well. Good luck pulling out a tool to tune your strings. Installation worked as advertised – not difficult and worked first time without further adjustments. Could use some high-quality instrument patches – had to buy them from Big Fish. Can do a fine quality impression of horn or string section for us keyboard non-experts, but need the sounds. I do not use the iPad app, just use it in DAW.Jamie

Im not crazy about it..It does track quickly. Secondly you dont have to bolt it in.. Thats the good, Im not to crazy about the sound libraries that come with it. Ive not found much that I can use. I can use it with my other midi packs…thats good. You do have to go into your DAW and clean up transients after recording.. I give it a C…Better than nothing! I bought this for recording because I don't play keys very well. I reached out to Fishman about a couple of questions to help set it up and they were really helpful. I wouldn't use this for live because it's very sensitive and the MIDI usually needs a little editing to do exactly what I wanted it to, but it really saves me a lot of work. Just got my guitar yesterday. Here are my thoughts. The packaging was decent and in the original Mitchell box. The guitar itself was in excellent condition and it was brand new. The piece is a beauty. It feels good only two issues. One is that the fret ends are a bit rough and second the truss rod cap was a bit loose. Other than that the guitar is beautiful. It plays very decent and I am a beginner so won't be able to give a very technical input.Numair

I have a few Mitchells, and none are bad guitars, though I have had to work on every single one of them, and this one was no exception. The guitar itself has a decent feel, and the pickups aren't horrible. I did have to do some big neck adjustments and file down some frets to get rid of fret buzz and dead frets. After some time working on it, I do enjoy playing it. It's really good for sitting around practicing if you want to save mileage on your more expensive guitars. I cannot say however that I would recommend this guitar unless you know how to work on it.Gorden

I bought this for my daughter and am experienced at guitars set ups. Out the the box its ok for a beginner. But Not for me. So I adjusted the neck and action. Intonation was way off. Neck adjusted easily. Action I was able to get to 1.75mm at 12th fret on low e with no fret buzz. Same as my ESP guitar. The guitar did intonate perfectly. Pickups are fine for a beginner. After a good set up I would play the guitar. Pickup is just ok. If you are a serious player then this guitar could be great as a beater. Proper set up. Vuy a used Seymore Duncan off ebay and throw in the bridge for cheap. Rough up paint and spray the finish with a can up duplicolor and clear coat it. Im considering getting one for myself and doing all of the above. I would have less than $200 in it. I guitar I keep on stand, not case and grab to play. If I ding it up I don't care. The neck was a little rough. I hit with 7000 grit paper and the neck is fast and good. Or if they lower price on other colors to $99 I might buy one of each color.dwsguitars

I bought one of these several months ago. Ok I'm not good guitarist so take that into into consideration but I have player series strat and have always played strat style guitars and I'm not saying i love this guitar more than the Fender I love them both but as far as the guitar is concerned she got so much potential tonally. I have no complaints about the ascetic she beautiful sexy gorgeous took a little getting used to the weight and contours compared to the strat there is adjustment period but she just rocks. I never played a Gibson but if this guitar had Gibson I guess it be a little better but also 2grand more. If I have any complaint is she is finger print magnet always wiping down get some dunlop 65 and microfiber cloth. The Glossy neck won't appeal to all but I can deal with it. Fret work perfect. I'm not a gigging musician but i have no doubt she gig worthy. Oh also, get the pro coverage cause I found out ALL Les Paul are extremely fragile at the neck,It has to do with the angle of the neck, Google it, do your research on owning a led Paul little different than strat anyway the guitar is 600-GREAT VALUE then with 2 years pro coverage plus tax it was under 900 or somewhere around there. And if you get a bad quality then ask for another cause it is coming from Asia so there is variability in workmanship but mine is PERFECT. If I ever get rich maybe ill buy a Gibson but for now this satisfy my Les Paul needs. I wanted an alternative to my strat to emulate Slash sound lol I need to work on my technique but this definitely rocks a Les Paul sound. I did see a review or 2 that liked the sound of the 1950 better but I played them both and liked the 60s better but check them both out the inspired by Gibson line is definitely worth the money if you want a Les Paul without breaking the bank. I have bought several guitars in the 100 to 300 range. I was surprised on the quality of this guitar and felt it was superior to many other brands in this range. From neck joint to fret polish & leveling and finish this guitar is quality except the tuners, however the guitar stays in tune and rarely goes out. The neck is not a Fender Strat or Tele neck so don't expect it to play like one, Its its own thing. It is not wide at the nut so if you need a wide neck at the nut it may not be for you. I find it fine and would not consider it narrow. The neck is slightly fatter than a Squire neck but it is still a C shape and a bit thicker as you go up the neck to higher frets. It plays great. Its set up well for Rock and Blues playing, neck adjusted with a light bow and strings set low (but not to low to buzz). Bridge saddles are stainless steel and this make the strings ring out bright and loud even when not plugged in. Intonation was spot on. Frets are tall enough to allow for string bending (there not super low). As regards pickups this is a personal thing. Pickups are very basic and do okay, one may want to upgrade them to ones own liking other wise there fine.pchapm

I was hesitant when ordering the guitar, but after I received it worry washed away from a single glance. I'm not good at instruments, I never played anything than doing ukulele club when I was a kid so I didn't expect myself to buy a guitar. It's delicate and beautiful, feels great to hold and sounds just as good. I do not regret buying this guitar at all, in fact I'm greatful that I'm able to own it. It's a beautiful guitar and really well made. I bought it for my 9 year old daughter and she loves it. I don't know anything about guitars as I'm a pianist myself, but her guitar teacher was absolutely delighted with it. It's definitely worth paying the extra for the upgrades. I can definitely see it lasting her as it feels really solid, and the knobs and twiddly bits etc feel really solid. I genuinely can't get over how nice it is. Sound: A sign of a good electric guitar is how well it sounds unplugged. This 1000BV is loud, full, and sustains very well before it's even plugged in. I bought the 1000BV with EMG pickups. Most people associate EMG with metal, and yes it goes a long way in that genre but they are equally adept and great sounding for blues, jazz, rock, and clean tones. I am very happy with the tonal versatility of this guitar. Cleans are clear and full, heavy drive has the chunk you want, and in between they just growl like they should. Features: I appreciate the locking tuners and Tone Pros bridge. The tuners are ESP branded but are smooth and seem to stay in tune quite well. The TOM bridge was easy to adjust and lock back into place.Active pickups are a matter of taste. I chose EMG because I like the sound they give, and I already have another guitar with the Duncan JB's. Ease of Use: The guitar came out of the box set up perfectly to ESP specs. Having said that, ESP thinks low action is 2mm at the 12th fret for low E, and 1.5mm on the high. This is way too high for my tastes. Adjusting the truss rod, string height, and intonation was a breeze. In a world filled with Floyd Rose, you lose appreciation for how easy a TOM bridge is to work with!The neck is definitely thinner than a Les Paul, but not super thin like a Jackson or Ibanez neck. It is similar to the PRS Wide Thin carve. Very playable if shredding or legato is your thing, and equally comfortable with the thumb over style. The neck finish is matte and feels as smooth as an unpainted neck. Moving up and down the fretboard is comfortable and easy. Quality: The quality of this instrument is superb. I have gone over it with a fine tooth comb and cannot find even the slightest imperfection in fit and finish. If you were to hand this to me blindfolded, I would easily believe it to be a guitar costing twice the price. It was that good. Fret work was spectacular and on par with my American PRS CE-24. Rolled off edges, no burrs or sprouts, smooth all the way up and down the neck. Value: This guitar is a tremendous value. For a list price of $899 you get every penny worth and more. I would put this up against any American made instrument costing 2 or 3 times more. High quality name brand components installed on a beautifully constructed instrument are what this guitar is about. Manufacturer Support: I have not had to deal with ESP directly yet, but they did suspend my account from their support forum for no known reason lol That's why everyone has more than one email right 🙂 The Wow Factor: It's an unassuming looking guitar that would fit on stage playing metal or smooth jazz. It sounds amazing clean or dirty and is a great alternative for someone who loves the traditional look of a single cutaway guitar but desires a more playable neck and less heft. Overall: I had been eyeing this guitar for quite awhile. I admit that when I found out production of the 1000 series moved from Korea to Indonesia I was very disappointed. The internet is full of horror stories about instrument quality dropping after models start getting produced in different countries, especially after having a great reputation for quality at the previous factory. I wavered back and forth and had second thoughts even after ordering. Thankfully zZounds has a great return policy so I took a chance.I AM SO GLAD I DID!!!!!!!If you are looking for a solid body single cut guitar you HAVE to give the EC-1000 a look. For half the money of most other domestic single cutaways you get a great playing and great looking guitar that is just a joy to play. Where do I start? I love everything about this guitar and it is my favorite that I own. If you’re looking for something that sounds very sweet and beautiful clean, this is not the guitar for you. That’s not to say that you can clean it up a bit with maybe some stereo chorus reverb or delay but as this guitar stands on its own, it truly suits one purpose for me , it is true metal madness euphoria. Not only do the pick up scream but this guitar is not only beautiful but constructed perfectly. It is the best most comfortable neck I’ve ever played and it is rocksolid!!! The satin finish on the back of the neck makes it effortless to slide up and down. I’m typically not a fan of gold on guitars but with the black matte finish it actually is pretty sharp and not too Goddy in my opinion. I am mediately replace the strings on this guitar with some nice thick ones for drop C tuning. Even with the 24.75 scale it Plays drop tuning nicely without string floppige. As long as you have the right strings on this exit is no problem. This current model has the EMG pick ups. I am seriously considering getting another EC 1000 with the Pegasus sentiment pick up combo. It’s a little heavier than I thought it would be but in a good way. This guitar is perfectly balanced and the body is definitely thinner than a Les Paul. That’s one thing I didn’t like about Les Pauls is it was thick bulky heavy and a baseball bat neck. I honestly couldn’t be more pleased with this guitar. Love the EC 1000 and the great service I always get at American musical supply. I’ll be honest, i’ve went through about half a dozen brand new guitars and returned every single one of them except for this one. I believe I am pickier than most, if I spend $1000 on a guitar I want to fall in love with it and not settle. If you like playing James Taylor and Crosby stills and Nash I suggest you look elsewhere. I bought this LTD EC-1000 after playing it at the shop for over an hour. This guitar delivers in spades the metal tone I was looking for. (I tried against Duncan Seymour version) With the right setup, it will CHUG! The chugs that is produced is so satisfying and inspirational to downstroke riffs like Papa Het for hours. Action is set at 2mm low E and 1.5mm at high E. A bit higher than I am used to but easy to get used to. This guitar is a beauty and plays and sounds great! You can't go wrong!Kalyan R.

I bought the Dimarzio Super Distortion in that I want a passive pick up on my back up guitar. ( I have active EMG pickups in my ESP LTD Les Paul style guitar). After I finally got the new pickup installed I was able to play and WOW, this thing is killer. To the distortion/overdrive and cleans this pickup is by far one of the best pickups I've played by far. While I love active pickups I think I'm going to install Dimarzio on my main guitar. DiMarzio is legendary and rightfully so, they are the best!DN

I bought this to go in the bridge position of an Ace Frehley replica Les Paul.. This is the pickup that Ace used back in the 70’s when KISS was in their heyday.. No disappointment at all with this pickup.. It is HOT and sounds just like it’s supposed to!! Thick sounding lows, crunchy mid tones, and screaming highs.. Harmonics are GREAT.. maybe not as pronounced as an active pickup, but for ceramic magnets it gets the job done. If you’re into classic hard rock or even early 80’s metal this pickup will suit you fine. This is the first DiMarzio pickup that I’ve ever used.. but it won’t be my last. I’ll be ordering another for a Paul Kossof/Dave Murray replica strat that I’m working on.Glenn N

My GR 20 is broken. I thought GR 55 a new product would be more better. I primarily use the brass and wind instruments synthesizer. The GR 20 was the best. I bought the Jamstik and attempted to connect to the Logic Pro on my IMac. It was terrible even thought Logic Pro has a great brass and wind synthesizer sampling. But the interface with Jamstik was horrible. Than I bought this GR 55, it is more complicated to use in comparing with GR 20. But the wind and brass synthesizer sampling doesn't even come close with the GR 20. After spending all that money, I went on reverb and bought another used GR 20. Now my music is alive again. I don't understand why the newer product is worse than the older model. It is shameful that Roland discontinued GR 20. GR 55 is good for those who likes to plays with different synthesizer functions. I don't need that. I just love the GR 20 sounds.Steve

I've had this unit for just over a year and can't believe how great this unit is. I saw a couple negative reviews and really don't understand where they were coming from. The default patches are really fantastic and the editing makes it a "no-limits" device. I use mine in my home studio, I like doing a lot of classic rock which includes a lot of later Beatles, Moody Blues, Eagles and the like, not into heavy metal so much but this would easily be my choice over my Zoom effects processor. The editing isn't nearly as hard as it first appears, the initial setup was actually more challenging, I have a pair of GK-3 on a Tele and a Strat as well as a Godin Multiac Nylon SA, all three have great response time but the Tele and Strat do have to be played exceptionally "clean" which isn't a bad thing and actually helps my overall playing because I am conscious of that fact. I run a separate line out from the guitar out to a Fender Mustang GT 40 (and no I do not use the speakers in the GT40 but rather run a line out from the headphones jack to my mixer) anyway the two played together present outstanding combinations and give single takes for tracks on the recorder a whole new influx of sounds. The string instruments are incredible, the violins and cellos so very realistic when combined with a "light foot" on the pedal to control start and stopping of notes played. The wind instruments sounded somewhat generic until I mastered the pedal effect, although I must say that the "breath" sounds with the flute have pushed me into some Jethro Tull that I never thought I would be able to replicate. The cons that I would mention would be with the piano patches, they sound poor but I have been tweaking with it and am getting closer to the Grand Piano sound I need, again these must be played very cleanly. The depth of editing is amazing, the reverbs, chorus, delays, panning and gain/distortion are as good as any pedal I've ever used. Great Tool and actually reasonably priced.Ken10652

The PC drivers for the GR-55GK apparently unload/uninstall after switching the device off and have to be reloaded from the Internet as far as I can make out. This takes up to 10 minutes which causes confusion when using a DAW. There is also a residual 'GR-55 unknown device' left lurking in Win 10 Device Manager. I would prefer to simply download the Win 10 drivers and install them once. Other than the driver issues the kit is working as expected but a bit of a learning curve as yet.Reviewed by guitarguitar custome

I bought this guitar because I wanted a new toy and because of the price – I figured I didn't have much to lose. I have three other guitars, two of them Jackson, that I play frequently, and I always wanted a guitar of this style. The natural finish is attractive and unusual. I like that. The pickups are ok, but the electronics leave a lot to be desired. The fingerboard craftsmanship is lacking attention, at least on the one I received. There are unfinished areas and one of the inlays is missing a small section. I don't know what strings they send over to China to put on this thing, but they are complete garbage. Putting some new strings on improved things a lot. This also suffers from some fret buzz. The guitar comes setup pretty well. The intonation seems to be spot on and the truss rod is adjusted properly. Action is set surprisingly well, considering the price of the guitar. However, as I mentioned above, this results in some fret buzz. I'll work with that a bit later. The neck has the same feel and playability as my higher-end Jacksons, so that's a plus. Overall, I don't think you could go wrong with this in the low price range. I'd recommend inspecting the guitar closely upon receipt to double check quality control. I wouldn't recommend this as a first guitar, unless an experienced guitarist is available to inspect. It's also not a guitar that's easy to sit and play, which is something to consider. If you get a good one and it's setup properly, this is an excellent guitar for ripping out some metal riffs or just having fun. Just don't take it too seriously.Matt

I received my guitar about three days ago, and overall I am very happy with my purchase. The guitar looks awesome – I love the wood finish with gold hardware, and have received many compliments on the instrument's overall appearance. It is incredibly light, weighing in at just about 7 pounds, making it the lightest guitar I have ever owned. I love the feel of Jackson necks, and this guitar is no exception. It has a fast action that makes speedy riffs a breeze to play. Access to the higher portion of the fret board is incredible, thanks to the V body shape. This is my first Flying V guitar, and I will definitely need to get used to handling the unique body shape as I play. Now for a couple cons that made me drop my rating from 5 to 4 stars: this guitar is top heavy. I have never owned a top-heavy guitar before, and it is super inconvenient to play standing up. You have to put in a constant effort to keep the guitar level as you play. I personally like to play with my guitar at a 45-degree upwards angle, which is much more difficult to do on this guitar then on any of my other well-balanced instruments. While the natural wood body looks awesome, it feels as if it would be easy to damage. But as long as you're careful you shouldn't run into any issues. I ordered this guitar online, and was not happy with the experience Guitar Center delivered. It said that the instrument was in stock and ready to ship, but after three days I still hadn't received a shipping confirmation in my email. I reached out to customer support and found out that the guitar was actually not in stock and I would have to wait three additional weeks before my guitar would ship. That was a bummer. All in all I would recommend this guitar, and am happy I added it to my collection!Darin

My fiance purchased this guitar for me as a early Christmas gift around october 2019. After the usual string change adjustments and tuning it sounded great and played great. Only real issue is neck dive but with this body shape you expect it and can be corrected by moving the strap button placement to the back plate or near by depending on your choice i left it and rest the top horn inside my leg like you see dimebag with his ml and many others with the v shape and non traditional shapes like the warriors king Vs and so on. I personally love the Rhoads shape and the natural finish. Other than some minor changes and upgrades knobs Tusq Nut Locking tuners and a Seymour Duncan bridge pickup upgrade and a good setup this guitar is my daily player out of the 6 i own its become my favorite im looking to buy another honestlychuck thomas

I purchased this Dean ML based on my appreciation for Dime and simply because teenage me committed to owning one someday. I found a pic that I took with Dime which reminded me of being in the front row watching him jam away on his Dime Slime years ago. For me, this purchase was primarily motivated by nostalgia, expecting build quality to be sort of, ok. I have to say, this guitar exceeded my expectations. Slight disclaimer: I purchased this item knowing I would immediately upgrade most of the hardware and adjust things to make it more comfortable for my playing. 1) It is a fantastic base instrument. It plays fairly well as sold. This was my first experience with a Floyd Rose Special. Also, it will definitely be my last. I played it stock for about 2 weeks to get a good feel for it before changing anything. It’s a great playing guitar. 2) Every review I saw said that the finish was amazing and pictures just couldn’t do it justice. I agree. They did a great job on the neck and body of this guitar. It’s flawless. 3) Everything was to spec on mine. Action, truss rod, intonation, fret, bridge and pickup height, all perfect. My fretboard had a somewhat excessive amount of dye on it but nothing too crazy. The nut on mine was clearly cut too deep leaving the high e in permanent sitar mode with fret buzz. So, quality control could be an issue. For my needs this wasn’t a problem as I had already decided on replacing virtually all hardware with new parts that I had on hand from a project that I decided not to restore. 4) The pickups sound great. The Dime Slime nailed the Pantera tones, not surprising. I was surprised by the classic/southern rock and soloist tones I was able to get with minor eq adjustments. Clear and warm through the drive/distortion. It does jazz and country pretty well too. It has a very balanced sound to it which I was not expecting. I’ve played it on three different amps with the same results. Great. This is a great buy. A solid guitar as is. However, in my case, this guitar didn’t really come to life until I did what I did: OFR Hot Rod, brass block,springs, some shielding, etc. Now, what really irritates me is that it plays a lot better than a few of my guitars that were either at or almost double the cost of the Dime Slime. Not a V type of player. I like Wilco, the Pixies, the Smiths, Stone Roses, Courtney Barnett, etc. So when I saw Ryan Adams rocking a V by that other manufacturer that starts with G, I started thinking about the V body style. I liked this model because it was at the right price point and had the tradition V body style, if you don't think too much about the headstock. This guitar probably hasn't gotten any love because I don't see it as your typical Dime type guitar, and its not your typical vintage Flying V. The pickups are not high enough gain to get love from the shredders and the Headstock probably turns some people off. What I found is a pretty great guitar with some help. First, the action was high. I lowered the bridge significantly. The good news is that the frets are good I didn't run into any buzziness after lowering the action a little lower than I thought I could get away with. Next, the pickups needed adjustment. They were pretty low. I brought them up a little and found that the sound filled out and got chimey like it should. I adjusted the pole pieces to match the fretboard radius and viola! Most of these guitars have good pickups and don't need an immediate change. Folks, you need to learn how to properly adjust your guitar pickups! Then figure out if you need something different. PS adjust these pickups on a clean channel, you need to hear the guitar not distortion. Long story short, this is a great guitar. It shouldn't be your main axe, but its a great conversation piece that sounds better than it should. I feel like I discovered a diamond in the rough. P.S. The guitar is really light and comfortable to play with a strap.Fred

This p/u strat set is smooth and balanced with that clear vintage sound in all 5 positions, but I think they are overpriced. If I need a set in the future I will look for something more reasonable.altothoma-2

I have guitars by Gibson, Fender and Ibanez etc but this is my first ESP and I cannot think why I have never bought one before. A stunning guitar with exceptional playability and a stunning finish, along with the evertune bridge it is a joy to shred and then be able to play chords knowing that everything is staying in tune – an awesome bridge on an awesome guitar. Sound: It sounds great for metal. You can't go wrong with EMG's as long as you have a reputable amp and/or effects processor as part of your overall sound. Features: The obvious best feature is the Ever Tune system. I was highly impressed at how in-tune and intonated this guitar was out of the box. The string action was a little high though. Ease of Use: The Ever Tune system is not the easiest to grasp. It was rather frustrating. It shipped perfectly in tune and intonated like I stated above. However, I wanted the string action lowered just a little bit. Once you lower the string action, you have to go through all the steps from the beginning to get it in tune and intonated. I mean, once it's in…it doesn't come back out. But, there are a lot of steps getting to that point. Once you do, one more step is thrown into the mix, which is adjusting the degree of your string bend. Not fun at all. Because once you got it to where it sounds good, the intonation is out of whack again. So, this system will take a while to master. Quality: The build and finish of this guitar seems pretty good. High quality tuners and electronics. There was minor fret buzz but I adjusted the string height to make it go away. But, i didn't like the how high I had to keep it in order for there to be no buzz. For $1049, I feel it should play much better than it does. I have a Jackson Soloist around the same price that blows this out of the water as far as playability. And is equal to the ESP's sound/tone. Value: I feel this is a $600 guitar with an overpriced and complex tuning system attached to it. And come on….an expensive guitar like this doesn't come with a case? Obviously, seeing this for the first time was impressive, all shiny and new. I just didn't feel like I was playing a $1000+ professional guitar. Overall: I bought this guitar from zZounds a few weeks ago. First of all, I love the way it looks. When I opened the box, the strings were set very high from the fretboard. I had to lower the bridge to remedy this. It buzzed and fretted out. So I changed the stock strings which were Gibson 10s to D'Addario 9s. It helped but it still buzzed a lot. Thankfully, when plugged into an amp the buzz doesn't pick up. It plays well, but it feels sort of cheap. An almost plastic feel.I swore I would never buy a Chinese guitar. I own a Jackson USA King V, a Gibson USA 60s Tribute SG, a made in Japan Jackson Dinky, a made in Japan Ibanez Prestige, a made in Japan Edwards/ESP V, a Mexican Strat, a Korean made Fernandes Vortex and a Korean made Wolf "Les Paul"You can feel the difference in quality, BUT…It is a nice guitar, even though $900 is a little steep for a guitar that is made in China.Chris

My first electric guitar was an ebony v made by epiphone. I lost track of it over the years and was feeling nostalgic when I saw this one online at American Musical. They were out of stock at the time so I asked to be notified when more came in. Anyway, a few weeks later they were back in stock and I ordered it as soon as I got the notification. Shipping was fast and it came in brand new and in great shape. Looks good and it is just as good as I remembered. Epiphone makes great guitars so don't be a guitar snob because it isn't a Gibson. If you want a V, this is a great guitar. Looks good and price is very fair. Rock on.J Madsen

Takes a while to get used to because of the asymmetrical neck, but once you do it’s very comfortable to play. The volume and tone controls are incredibly responsive. As for the build quality it’s pretty good, with some elements being outstanding, in particular the hardware, specifically the tuners, bridge and tail piece, and the volume and tone knobs. Very impressed so far. The only potential downside is that it’s very particular with guitar straps, I’m lucky because I have a few so could try different styles before settling on one. I’d recommend either one with triangular ends (fender style) or a wide soft leather strap.Jay M.
