I have been playing for 50 years, and have played many electric guitars, some very expensive. This guitar is an amazing value,and plays better than some of the More expensive. The pickup is adequate, and with better strings it frets well. Blow the speaker out on that little amp, after all it's basically free. plug in to a good amp and you can make it sound surprisingly good For 80 bucks, just do it!Dano
Basically, it's a good guitar. I recommend to newbies and intermediate player. The head, neck and body are good. The finish is smooth just like mirror. The amp is good working as well as pick-up. Only one thing that i had been noticed are those fret-wires sharp-edge or burrs (top & bottom). I used small pile with lightly stokes to create chamfer at the edge, it takes me a couple of minutes to do that. It's fun to play this guitar.cyriescoba-0
It's no wonder Gibson is having financial difficulties, this guitar is a prime example of why. Purchased and delivered for around $75? Are you kidding me? Delivered? Gibson's main line guitars are priced beyond value these days. The other line they own, Epiphone, now makes some higher end guitars considered Gibson's near equal, while they are practically paying me to buy this. Subtract the costs of final delivery to my door, shipping from China to US, the extras like the flimsy gig bag, strings, DVD and the adorable amp(with KICKSTAND), they probably have about $30 in this guitar as it leaves the factory. Considering that, there is no better guitar made anywhere than this beautiful but awful guitar. Beautiful finish, solid feel and… well it is pretty. After a couple hours of filing away at frets that were sharp enough to cut skin on the edges and as level as a gently rolling MOUNTAIN RANGE, a restring with better strings, setting the action, tightening tuners and bridges and trying with almost no success to intonate it, I have a guitar that plays way outside it's price range. I'd say it plays more like a $100 guitar than the $30 guitar that Gibson sent. Sadly some may stumble upon this guitar kit as a starter, a way to learn guitar. In that respect, I hope it doesn'tstymie and stifle young potential talent who may not realize that the guitar can be improved upon, as the way it came out of the box would likely do. It sounded horrible, with good reason. Loose tuning pegs and bridges not being snugged along with crappy strings and a downright dangerous fretboard will do that. On the other hand, now it looks pretty AND sounds pretty… well OK, prettier. It's not a Gibson, it's not even an Epiphone, it's a Maestro. If you want to learn how to become a luthier, this starter set rocks.vc_computing

the neck wasn't leveled the frets were sharp on the edges, the six string neck set up higher than the 12. the electronics were cheap and micro-phonic. either neck didn't seem to have a finish on them. even as a beginning guitar it wouldn't be good without a lot of work.harrisonguitars08
This guitar is very nice in appearance but the playability is a bit lacking. The tuning keys on the 12 string were stiff and binding. The volume knob for the 12 string had a wiring problem. when I would turn the volume up,(10) for the 12 string the 6 string volume would be down quite a bit. So when I switched to the 6 string I had to put the volume knob on 8 for the 12 string to get full volume for the 6. I keep all my volume knobs on 10 and adjust my overall volume from the amp. There's supposed to be separate volume knobs for this guitar but like I said there was some kinda wiring glitch. Other then this it was very nice and the sound was exceptional.merw.tom

I owned and played one of these semi-pro for a decade back in the '80s because it was a hassle switching from 6 to 12 string guitars and always having to redial the amp for the different pickup outputs. The heavy mahogany body (and it IS heavy, especially neck-heavy, the reason for the 4 rating) produces crystalline sound with excellent articulation and sustain and the output between necks is well-balanced. The 1275 gave me the versatility and ease of switching (one switch) that I wanted and a sound I loved. My single-neck 12s have been Rics. The 1275 lacks the Ric "jangle" but that's a minor drawback. I also owned a Carvin koa doubleneck: decent 12 string half, totally useless 6 string, but it was well-balanced weight-wise. I played a BC Rich "Bich" doubleneck and the thing is an ergonomic nightmare and didn't sound nearly as good as the Gibson. I installed a belt hook on my strap for the 1275 keep the necks from falling down when I let go and it worked well. If you want a doubleneck, get the Gibson.Jerry

Pickguard looks perloid in the picture and solid white is what I got. Upper neck has NO pickup selection. I know because I took it apart and all 3 upper pickups are wired directly to the output!! The knob in the middle, should be a blend pot that allows one to have one, both or adjust volume between the 2 necks. What the factory did was McGeyver a regular volume pot to try to do the same thing that kinda works, but not very well. 6 string neck on the on I recieved was very unstable! If you push one way or another, you can hear it go out of tune. 12 string neck is actually a little better, but the string break angle at the nut is ridiculous and pulls at the nut. I had to glue the nut in place (should have been done at the factory) to keep the strings in their proper place. Now I know at this price point for this type of guitar, you might have to put some work in, but some basic stuff should be ok from the jump and quality control sucks. I am a tinkerer and 40 year guitar player. So I know some things and know how to fix stuff. Good Luck if you get one of these that is playable out the box!!Rodd

I got this guitar just for fun and wanted to play around with a type of guitar Ive never played with before. However, when I plugged it in there was no sound coming out from the 7 string side and I quickly realized there was no switch to change between the necks. I opened up the back of the guitar and it looked like the wiring of the 7 string went straight to the volume pot of the 6 string. I dont know what to do about this and Im kind of disappointed, but Im not surprised because its only a $350 guitar. It should be fixable and for the price it was, it was definitely worth it. If anyone knows how to fix this let me knowgreberm_0
