what a great bass! It's beautiful, light, and sonically versatile. the different pickup modes have 3 radically different tones which makes this bass right for lots of situations. I've seen some reviews that mentioned so issues with some fret roughness but mine showed up in perfect condition. I couldn't be happier with the bass. I also want to mention the customer service. I used the chat feature to confirm whether this bass came with a bag or case. the agent let me know that it does not but pointed me to the bundle that includes the bag and they set me up with a price I could not pass up. once I completed the purchase the item was shipped within 90 minutes. This is a great short scale bass. It is a quality instrument. The finish is excellent. Playability straight out of the box was very good. Nicely set up.I love the pick-ups and the ability to blend the two with their individual volume controls. Great range of tones available. It looks good too ! Highly recommended. Really good guitar for nirvana type music. Only issue is that you need to set it up for it to be playable but once it's set up it's a great instrument. Pickups are pretty articulate but not to bright either just perfectly balanced. If you get one I recommend to lock the bridge down to improve its tuning stability and sustain. Note it DOES NOT sound like a kc style mustang, it has its own sort of sound to it. Fretboard is pretty nice same with the low radius which I prefer. Overall it's one of my favorite guitars I've ever bought and I cannot recommend it enough if you play grunge and nirvana music.Preston

Sound: Today's guitars are all made on cnc's unless you get something like a US made G&L, those are cut out with bandsaws and routers, like fenders in the 50s up to the 70s. The neck pocket in mine is very clean and neat, the body routing is very clean, the frets were nice out of the box, no misaligned screws or parts, no blemishes in the finish or anything. Features: The least useful feature for a majority of people will be the rhythm circuit, it has its own volume and tone pots and is neck pickup only, with a much darker tone than the neck pickup on the lead circuit, leave the switch in the down position, and you never have to worry about it unless you want an old school jazz guitar tone. Then push that switch up. (It does old jazz guitar really well) Ease of Use: The jazzmaster has quite a bright bridge pickup, makes it well suited for surf, or spaghetti western guitar, but it also means distortion on the bridge pickup will cut through rather well. the neck pickup is strat like, but bigger and thicker. Like a strat neck pickup on steroids. Both pickups together results in a sweet soft sort of quack tone, due to the pickups being so far apart, it's not the same as a strat quack tone, but its very nice sounding. Then of course there's the neck only rhythm circuit which is very much like an old jazz tone (hence the name Jazzmaster)The pickups are generally higher output than most other fender pickups, and work well with distortion. A lot of people still think jazzmaster pickups are p90s. Nope, real jazzmaster pickups are roughly the same size, but thats where the similarities end. They don't even sound similar. This confusion is furthered by the old mexican player jazzmasters, the j mascius, and others that have P90's. Quality: Fender mexico didn't skimp on the electronic parts, the pickups are very much like a mid 60s jazzmaster in sound, even down to the gray bobbins and enamel coated coil wire. Pots are CTS, both switches and the jack are switchcraft, just like they are supposed to be. They should last forever. The trem is built well, but not exactly the same as the old ones, the trem arm is screw in, it really should be a push in arm, like all the old ones. Also, I think the hole of the trem arm in the top plate is way way too big, it only needs to be slightly bigger than the trem arm collet.The tuners are kluson like split shaft, loke fender used from the very earliest days until 68, they're not made by kluson but it doesn't matter the design is too simple to screw up. The frets are vintage, they're always described as tall and thin. They're not tall, but they are thin, it is a 60s styled guitar after all. But I think a lot of people used to 9.5 and flatter radiuses will have problems, it's a 7.25" radius fretboard, requires a bit higher action but a half hour or so of playing, you get used to it. It also has a truss rod nut at the heel of the neck, its a correct feature for all fender's prior to 1971, but man was that a bad design choice on leo fender's part. You either have to loosen the neck a lot or take it completely off to adjust neck relief, and hope you got it right.Now when I got my guitar I took it completely apart (I always do). What I found on the inside could be improved. First was an excessive amount of wire. There is a lot of wire in a jazzmaster, but they didn't even bother cutting the pickup leads to length. Both pickups had about a foot of unnecessary lead wire, so I fixed that.The other issue was a bad conductive paint job in the cavities. The jazzmaster is an electrically noisy guitar, they need all the shielding they can get. The conductive paint was one thin coat, and didn't even go up the sides of the cavities, it wasn't doing anything. From 1958 to the end of the original run around 1980 each jazzmaster had brass tubs in all the cavities, all soldered together and grounded. I don't expect that in a new jazzmaster, but they knew then that it needed shielding. The pickguard in 58 was also gold anodized aluminum, which was excellent for shielding. But the anodizing wasn't good, and the gold wore off after a few months so and looked awful. In 59 fender switched to plastic tort pickguards, with a thin pickguard sized aluminum shield underneath. Anyway I properly shielded the cavities. Also the pickguard only had aluminum tape for the toggle switch to the jack, and another piece for piece for rhythm circuit switch and pots. That ain't going to do it. I added more shielding, put it all back together and it was a major improvement. Recently I decided to see what a proper gold anodized aluminum pickguard would look like on ice blue metallic, and its VERY cool, looks like a 1960s california speed shop modded my guitar, might put some tele knobs on it sometime.I also made another modification, I had a 65 reissue trem and bridge laying around, so I put them on it. To start with this review I would like to point out in two different sections. The buying experience with the shop and the guitar set up. 1-The buying experience was great, fast shipping, very well package, tracking feedback. No complaints at all. The guitar, as I said before, came really well package, in two cardboards and bubble plastic. 2-The guitar set up: Out of the box, the guitar set up is horrible, and let me tell you again, horrible. The worst guitar set up I have ever received. My guitar which was "inspected" by a music technician before being shipping to me. I do not know what type of inspection was that but sincerely I think the guitar was not by any means checked. It arrived with crazy fret buzzing through all the neck, gritty frets (almost impossible to do bendings), Sharpen fret edges that felt like knives cutting my fingers, super dry fretboard( I can understand this because of the Indian Laure fretboard), no neck relieve at all ( Truss rod adjustment is needed if you want to play any music with this guitar), the tremolo bridge was rattling like crazy, all strings out of intonation, not to confuse with out of tune. All these things made the playing experience awful. Now I understand why there are so many B-Stocks of this guitar. I thought that being a Chicago Music Exclusive (FSR) product will be take care much better. Do not get me wrong, this is a heck of guitar for the money but be prepared to spend an extra 150 bucks to make this guitar useable. IJ D.
My wife got me this guitar for Christmas and it has more than exceeded my expectations. I had a Fender Jaguar MIJ candy apple red back in the early 90s and it ended up missing. I’ve been waiting for a guitar like that again as it was my absolute favorite guitar to play. I saw this one online and told her this is the one I’d like to have to replace my other Jaguar. I LOVE the tone on these as they give so much depth to the mid and high ranges. The notes just ring so much depth. I must say it sounds even better than I remembered. The matching headstock is another positive for me and sold the look of the guitar. While the tremolo is a little different than I remember (tremolo bar screws in vs push into place) it is probably a better thing that it is that way now. American Musical has always shipped our orders in a few days and didn’t disappoint my wife when it showed up just a few days after ordering and was ready to play directly out of the box. First impression is that this is a quality instrument, it feels very solid and well-crafted. No sharp fret ends or any other flaws (except for a fair amount of debris under the pickguard). It's hard to beat the classic combination of Alder, Maple and Rosewood for a sound that rings out loudly unplugged. I debated between the Vintera, Squier CV and the Performer models because these are the current vibrato-equipped Mustangs – in the end, the new and improved vibrato sold me on the Performer. I bought the Vintage White (butter-colored) and it weighs 7.7 lbs – I've seen this model as low in weight as 7.1 lbs. If the Sonic blue had competition stripes, that would have been my favorite. Out of the box, the setup was perfect (though I did put in a Stew Mac .25 neck shim to raise the bridge some – action-wise, it didn't need the shim, but helps with the trem action), and the urethane off-gassing potent. The Mustang, being on back-order for so long (I waited 3 months from order date), was probably just assembled when I received it on 12/7/21 (August and October '21 production dates are seen in the photo of neck pocket and neck heel). Besides being the only US production-run Mustang, it has the aforementioned revised vibrato – which is super smooth and stays in tune very well. [I did put on a set of locking tuners I had on hand, but I'm sure the stock ones are fine, too.] The obvious welcome revision is the nylon arm sleeve that replaces the screw-in type; it holds the arm in place at any angle. As well, the Performer body has a new rectangular rout, and larger spring routing, under under the tremolo (so, not interchangeable with a vintage unit or guitar without modification) – accommodating a metal plate that reinforces the fulcrum point of the two spring-tethered vibrato posts. This plate is attached with 3 larger screws on the face of the vibrato, giving it a slightly different look from the vintage Mustang vibrato/tremolo.The Fender script is also gone, maybe giving the initial appearance of a plain, cheaper import trem unit? Once removed from the body, the new vibrato feels heavy and substantial. The electronics are interesting – the spirit of the Mustang tone-control quirkiness lives on in the new Performer series Mustang. As a pickup set, they're well-matched and mine register 8k ohms for the neck pickup and 8.5k ohms for the bridge. Unlike a typical tone control that makes the guitar sound increasingly bassy as you roll off the treble, the Greasebucket circuit makes the pickups sound fuller as you roll the tone back – you're not losing the top-end until the very end of the tone range, like on 2. On 10, with the treble all the way up, the sound is very thin (maybe a substitute for the out-of-phase position found on a traditional Mustang?), and can be harsh if the volume knob is also all the way up – rolling the volume back to 8 will clean up the pick-ups. String attack is pronounced with the Yosemite set. The guitar sounds best with the tone rolled back 3/4's of the way, especially the bridge, imo – that's unusual and it gives the pickups a unique character and full sound, or not, depending how you set the tone circuit – from thinner to fuller is really the tonal range of the control set. Therefore, you might not get the immediate sonic versatility of a Strat or Tele (or, vintage-wired Mustang), but you do get cool sound-shaping controls that function differently compared to a normally wired guitar. As well, the Mustang has a more compact and intimate playing area, and with the very responsive vibrato that stays in tune, it's a lot of fun to play. The modern neck with its c-shape, 9.5" radius, medium jumbo frets and satin finish – will be easy to play for lots of different styles of music. String tension is pretty elastic, but still I'm fine with the 9's it comes with (it's what I normally use) as they work well with the spring setting of the trem – mine is set for the least amount of spring tension from the factory. I would imagine as you go up in string gauge you would want to take off the vibrato unit and move the spring position up 1 or 2 spots on the post. **I appreciate the included – made in Vietnam, embroidered Fender logo – light-duty – deluxe gig bag. There aren't a lot of short-scale case options out there and it fits this guitar perfectly, though not a super lot of protection. In the end, Fender has reimagined many aspects of the Mustang: upgraded vibrato; new electronics; medium-jumbo frets; satin finish neck. And, as an American made instrument it retains the traditional Rosewood fretboard, another plus (mine was dry and needed conditioning – to be expected from the fret install process and clean-up). I'm very pleased with this US produced guitar and the way it sounds, plays, feels – and looks!Jon
Really good guitar for nirvana type music. Only issue is that you need to set it up for it to be playable but once it's set up it's a great instrument. Pickups are pretty articulate but not to bright either just perfectly balanced. If you get one I recommend to lock the bridge down to improve its tuning stability and sustain. Note it DOES NOT sound like a kc style mustang, it has its own sort of sound to it. Fretboard is pretty nice same with the low radius which I prefer. Overall it's one of my favorite guitars I've ever bought and I cannot recommend it enough if you play grunge and nirvana music.Preston
I was looking for an American-made Mustang and came across the American Performer series. I purchased the antique white version. It's more of a buttercream yellow than white. I was really surprised by the quality because I'd only previously played MIM models that weren't always great. The tremolo tail piece is different than the Strat and Jazzmaster systems. It's very sensitive and has incredible range. I see why some like to block it up because it bends at the slightest touch, but it works very well and stays in tune for the most part. Sound is great, both clean and crunch – it's very versatile. It's also very light and manageable. It's becoming one of my favorite guitars and I have an American Pro Jazzmaster, a MIM Tele, MIK Esquire, and a Gibson 335. My only quality gripe is the frets are a bit rough on the edges. I like the jumbos, but seems like they need a bit more smoothing over. Other than that the setup was great out of the box, tuners are great, and I like the greasebucket tone.Rojo

I honestly feel that the Jeff Beck Stratocaster is the best value guitar that Fender offers today. For just a couple hundred dollars more than an American Professional Stratocaster you get an upgraded, hot rodded, American made Stratocaster second to none! Anyone that knows the history of the Jeff Beck Signature Stratocaster knows that it inspired the Stratocaster Plus of the late 1980s. Roller nut, locking tuners, cutaway heel, noiseless pickups, tweed hardshell case, and American made for just a little more than the American Pro?! Duh! Despite all the upgraded "value" I keep going on about, the Jeff Beck Signature Stratocaster plays great! My model needed slight tuning straight out of the box but the action and intonation was perfect. Remember, these are standard production line guitars, not Custom Shop pieces. Whoever is doing the assembly and final setup of these guitars really takes pride in their work! I highly recommend this guitar regardless of your opinion of Jeff Beck. Jeff Beck happens to be my favorite guitar player and I always wanted a white Stratocaster with a rosewood fingerboard like the one he plays and was on the cover of the Wired album. This is the first Signature guitar I have ever bought and I could not be happier.Ty
The Jeff Beck Strat is one of the nicest guitars I’ve ever played. This is a top quality, ultra high end player. The maple neck and rosewood fingerboard simply purrs. The c shape neck is instantly comfortable even if you’re used to thicker necks or wizard necks. Everything is top quality; high end schaller locking tuners. Two point modern trem, and AMAZING sounding pickups!!! You can plug this guitar straight into an amp with no pedals and she sings. Sounds like liquid gold. Not to mention how beautiful she looks! First the good. Neck is straight, properly fitted, and I really like a set radius as opposed to compound. The D profile feels "right" to me. Set bridge (screws vs pivot) is also a huge plus. Trem bar is a flat profile, where its closer to the body, instead of 2 inches too far out. The bad. Tuning machines are slotted too high, and a little wonky/loose. Fret ends are smooth , but not the cut, if that makes sense. So when you run your fretting hand up or down it'll catch on the burr from not smoothing out the neck side(s). The trem springs are way too loose/springy for an off the shelf guitar. Annnd it's really noisy. I expected some hum from vintage pickups but good god. This is something I'll have to deal with straight away. The gnarly. The sound and playability is simply ok out of the box. Not near enough "quack" for what its designed for. Namely doing Hendrix tunes. Barely there, really. All in all. I kinda knew it was going to take around 3-500 to get it where I wanted it. But it is a great starting point for hot-rodding/customization purposes. The headstock does take some getting used to!Bob
Sweetwater did right by me, setting up my Hendrix signature guitar with loaded pickguard with Seymour Duncan signature Hendrix pickups, bone nut, and pleking. Delivered double boxed, and in tune! Wow! Service was above and beyond at Sweetwater. The tones out of this guitar are killer, that is without any boxes! They have made themselves a lifetime customer! Overall: This guitar is modeled after the "Jimi at Woodstock" white Strat, and is a great looking guitar that captures that vibe. But, I also needed something I could gig with. The reverse headstock is great because the longer wound strings have a little more tension, and the shorter G,B, and highE have less tension for great, smooth bends. The C shaped neck isn't super fat, but very comfortable. It gets a lot of attention in a live setting. I actually took mine to Bethel NY and stood on the original Woodstock field, and played "The Star Spangled Banner" on the spot of the original stage with a little battery powered amp. Talk about Bucket List things to do. 😉 A great guitar with vintage tone, easy playability, trem holds tune surprisingly well, not too heavy, and captures that 1969 vibe while being a true gig-worthy guitar. This guitar as a whole is perfect- the neck is the BEST I've ever played. The body and the matte black – sweet!!!! I have one and I modified it though from a one volume to two independent and a kill switch and different pups – I'm NOT a signature fan. This guitar as a whole is VERY underrated and sure beats out the Meteora when it comes to anything off the cuff. Plus you get a ton of case candy and a GG case black and white fabric. Hence why I will get another . Trust me – you will love this axe !! Who cares if Jim Root put his name to it – he doesn't even play this model. I got my 1st Tele back in 1972 to temporarily replace my injured 335 (Neck break) caused by an overzealous drummer during a gig in Keflavik Iceland (Mark, if you see this , I forgive you). But for reasons long forgot, I never liked.it and soon traded it for a Strat. I never touched another Tele for a long time. Fast forward to 2018 when I got re-introduced to the Tele Elite model while testing out amplifiers at a local music store and was immediately taken it under its spell. The tone, new contoured body shape, compound neck and superb playability made it hard to put down until I was forced to do so leave when the store closed for the night.. I went home and ordered it on line thru MF"s parent company.as they didn't have the color I wanted in stock. . It arrived about 5 days (overseas delivery) and has been my "GO-TO" axe ever since. I've had it now about 1-1/2 years now and my original opinion has not faltered. I agree with all of the 5 star reviewers and opinions which are right on the money. I don't need to carry two or three guitars to gig anymore. I can play almost any genre with it and get all the sounds and tones I need And, importantly to me, its easy on these aging hands and creaking body parts. My only gripe, if you can call it that, is that Fender discontinued the Elite model a few months after I got mine in favor of their new Ultra line. Okay, I get that a company has to continue to provide new and exciting products to keep up with the market trends. I haven't tried the Ultra's yet and can't comment on them. But, I find it hard to believe they could improve upon an almost perfect Tele.. You can still buy the Elites from distributors and can now get some very good deals at very attractive price points. I would buy this model again. For now, my Elite is my top dog in my arsenal.Will J
Overall: Jim Root, showing his love for Fender's classic body shapes, while also creating wonderfully tortuous, turbulent, and high gain guitar tones, have came together in a perfect blend of classic, and modern metal. His take on the Jazzmaster really only takes after its namesake in shape. Switching from alder to mahogany body material, dual, active humbuckers from EMG, the 81/60 combo is capable of earsplitting high gain tones all the way to creamy leads and even clear, sultry cleans. With only one volume knob, this Jazzmaster is ready to rip, and most definetley is NOT your grandpa's Jazzmaster. The satin black finish evokes mean, evil looks, with the blank fretboard finishing the clean, stripped down look. This axe took the JM body style and brought it to modern metal in a big way. 25.5 inch scale allows for lower tuning, to bring those growling, booming riffs to life without the "string flap" you can get with shorter scales, and the active EMGs provide clear, articulate riffing in high gain situations. If you're after a classic look, while melting the faces off of the folks who are within earshot, then this awesome signature series is everything you have dreamed of. With locking Fender tuners on an oversized 70s headstock , tuning is stable and steadfast when smashing on those aggressive , ripping metal riffs. 10 out of 10 in my opinion, rapidly becoming my go to workhorse guitar, because this thing has everything a modern metal player could ever want.Mikey

I've owned several Strats over the years, including a 1968 (my first real guitar) and a Custom shop with Ibarra pickups. The Eric Johnson is as good or better for me than any of them. I play mainly blues-based classic rock, Hendrix, Clapton, Zeppelin, Beatles, etc. I've had this white-blonde with maple fingerboard for a little over two months at this writing. The larger-than-usual neck is outstanding–much like a Custom shop. Although the 12" radius isn't as comfortable for chording as the standard, rounder 9.5", it provides a more consistent feel for fast playing, runs, etc., imo, because my fingers don't need to adjust to the larger curvature. It's like a classical guitar in that respect. The pickups with their staggered pole pieces sound lovely–almost vintage sounding with loads of classic character. The neck position is honky, midrangy, not smooth like normal Strats, so it cuts. Where I might have preferred the neck position on other Strats, I prefer the 4th position on this one, which has the fat smoothness appropriate for mellower rock rhythm or fills. The middle pickup (without tone control) is louder, and a great go-to for a quick volume and tone change for solos. 2nd position is quacky and biting, great for distorted solos that cut, and the 1st (bridge) position is good for higher gain leads (with the tone rolled back a bit) or for twangy country licks. I've never much liked the bridge pickup on Strats, but this one is less harsh than usual, and with the tone rolled back to 5 or 6 is definitely usable. I'm leaving the tremolo with five springs on, flat to the body for tuning stability; but I do miss being able to whammy in both directions rather than just downward. The staggered tuners undoubtedly help maintain tension, and a bounce on the whammy bar resets intonation pretty well, though not perfectly (this could be due to other factors such as the nut, string gauge, etc.), so I don't use it much. I'm using NYXL9544 (the 9.5 "half-size" gauge).Tanuki
Very nice guitar that is era correct. Has flash coat nitrocellulose finish like original 50's strats that is thinner than other model ej strats. Even has correct '54 patent pending stamped saddles and smoothed headstock corners. These are slightly heavier than alder body EJ strats and doesn't have as deep of contours but is correct for '54 models. Neck is dead on with '54 profile, very slightly larger than previous models. It is listed that it has quarter sawn neck but mine isn't, it is more between flat and rift sawn like original '54. You can tell that fender went through some effort, likely from ej's request, to make these as close as possible to original'54 specs. Only non '54 items are pickups and Bakelite knobs but "Virginia" had these changed out.N. Collins
Beautiful white blonde finish, silky smooth neck finish. The soft V is quite round and is a robust neck, but the V keeps it from being ball bat. If you really like the "Modern C" you may find the neck a little large. It's certainly comfortable to play, and I like it a great deal, even though most of my other guitars are modern C's or similar. So, maybe you won't. I've found that I like larger necks more the longer I play, and the resonance of this neck is just a great feeling. Hard to explain, but it seems more alive than most strats I've played. Some folks have found the neck sticky, but I didn't think that at all. Plays amazing right out of the gate. Intonation was perfect out of the box and setup was just fine, although I may play with it a little for my personal preferences. Tuning stability is good. Came with all of the springs installed on the bridge, so the trem bar was not even usable, but with one spring removed, it allows the trem to be functional while still keeping the bridge hard against the body for better resonance and stability. Pickups are amazing. I have some strats with Texas specials and I've had just about every pickup out there, but these are just perfect. Sounds like a strat should sound, and the "in-between" positions are more usable and pleasing that on any other strat I've ever played. Volume knob reacts perfectly and really changes presence and drive in a predictable fashion. Break up is sweet, and can get quite crunchy on the bidge. Neck is just a perfect blues tone with lots of options to shape character with volume and tone. The treeless headstock is nice…I've had better tuning stability for my plain strings than other strats, and I didn't find the plain strings dead or lacking in any way. This is certainly my new favorite guitar. I don't really know how much having no trem pocket cover on the back of the guitar helps tone, and it kind of looks unfinished without it, but I don't know that I'll bother to add one. Overall: This is my second review. I’ve owned three Clapton Stratocasters. I’ve been gigging quite a bit with them. I play classic rock, country, some heavier stuff GNR and stuff like that. I tried to use this guitar for these extensive cover bands. I’ve done maybe 50 shows with the Clapton Stratocaster. I’ve learned a few important things. Here’s some pros and cons: The mid boost really pushes an amp. I mean it pushes. This guitar comes in hotter than my Gibson Les Paul classic and my 2016 standard. You need almost no gain to get break up with this guitar. This is very important to know if you are considering this guitar. The mid boost is always active even when turned down, so the guitar is really hot. That being said, the mid boost compliments certain drives and distortions amazingly well. I’d have to say that’s my favorite thing about the guitar. The mid boost makes most gain channels sound really amazing. I was so hooked on this guitars overdriven sound that I initially bought 3 of these guitars and dropped all my old gear. You could almost use it for Van Halen type sounds. Just be careful because it will push it until it gets muddy depending on your rig. Here’s some real important cons:The mid boost is 25 decibels. That’s a lot. I find that if I have it all the way up the rhythm sounds awesome , but then I cant go any higher in volume for leads without a boost and then you’re getting way too much break up. Of course you call roll off the mid boost for your rhythm but that causes so many inconsistencies in your volume during a show that it gets cumbersome. I mean you cant tell if your knob is at 3, 5 or 7 when on stage in the lights and All that. On top of that, if you don’t roll that mid boost down before you go back to your clean channel, you better watch out because you’ll blast everyone with so much volume it ain’t funny. You can’t get a good clean sound without turning the mid boost down. Basically you have to think that Clapton does not use pedals or clean/ dirty channels. He is using a dimed amp and just this mid boost knob. For most of us pedal users and channel switchers this doesn’t really fit our needs. Be aware ! Here’s my biggest complaint:The volume pot on two of my three Strats went to complete crap within the first 6 months. I mean the volume pot is junk. Do not overturn it or even try to use use it. It will start popping and cracking and no amount of cleaning will fix it. Trust me this is a serious issue that has seriously made me not want to play this guitar anymore. Again if you watch Clapton you’ll see that he doesn’t really use the volume knob so he probably doesn’t notice. The high strings above the 12th fret area can’t be bent very much without fretting out. Especially the first string. If you watch current Clapton live enough just look when he bends really high, you’ll see that it won’t sustain. This is probably due to vintage small fret wire combined with the radius. Similarly the high E string is likely to break if bent to a full bend. On top of that, the high E string is so close to the edge it slips off the neck a lot , and you’ll find your self pushing the saddle in as far as you can. Seriously the high E string is almost useless on this guitar.
Sound: I can get any sound I want just through the pickup selector, tbx and midrange boost controls, and the master volume takes it over the edge for extra crunch. Playing by myself I preferred the middle pickup, but in a band situation the neck pup cuts through brilliantly with lovely clean treble twang. This is a great guitar for biting blues or rock tones, or dial it back for a nice soft clean tone. I mostly play through a Blackstar TVP 60 or Marshall DSL40, but I keep both mostly clean where it's just starting to break up, which I can control by my attack. Features: The best feature for me is the playability of the neck. The satin finish combined with the low vintage frets is just super smooth. I played about a dozen different Strat models before finding the EC, and once I played it there was no other choice to make. The noiseless vintages pups are a breeze, and the controls do everything Fender claims. Ease of Use: The EC just fell to hand for me immediately, like no other guitar I'd played before or since. 'Nuff said. The pups allow me to keep tight control on feedback only when I want it. Quality: This is a pure quality instrument, and I love everything about it. Having said that, after 2 years there's quite a bit of fret wear from bending, so I'll need to refret with stainless steel wire for longer wear. The volume pot has started to get a bit dirty and noisy, so it needs a clean, even though I've only played in clean environments. Value: Worth it's weight in gold. I have not played another guitar that makes me want to buy it. Manufacturer Support: Haven't need manufacturer support, but in Australia I have Fender-registered luthiers. The Wow Factor: This is EC's guitar, as close as I'll ever get, which is a big selling point. But sheer playability, quality, and value for money, plus pride of ownership, make it simply the best. Arrived in great shape. So far, I love this guitar, and despite all the videos I watched and reviews I'd read, I was still amazed at the sheer number of tones you can get out of it. With the mid and treble boosts, you can really go from "typical strat" tones to get incredible sustain and hit the front of the amp quite hard to get good breakup.Pros:- American Strat quality, fit and finish is good, rolled fret board, etc.- The electronics – endless variety of tones. Not great for modern metal or hard rock, but anything else will work.Cons:- This would be a hard guitar to work into a live venue if you play with other guitars as well. It is LOUD, so much louder than my Les Paul or anything else I own that I have to play with the levels and EQ on the amp. In my house, no big deal. At a gig, that may be tough. That said, I don't own other guitars with active electronics, so maybe other active pickups are also this much louder?- Requires you to unscrew the back plate to change the battery. I'm sure this keeps costs down, but on my active basses it's a lot easier to open the battery compartment without screws. Make sure you have a full battery before a gig.- I was surprised at the amount of set-up I had to do to get rid of fret buzz. Given the amount of distance in shipping, time in warehouses, temperature/humidity differences, etc. my guess is that it was probably fine when it left the factory, but it's the first guitar I've bought online that had so many strings/frets buzzing. Luckily a couple turns on the saddle screws fixed it all without appreciably raising action.Neither good nor bad: – The neck profile is unique to the Clapton. It feels like "a more playable vintage profile" to me. It's definitely not a modern profile. You'll either like it or you won't 🙂 I found it really easy to adjust to, and it seems to work great for "thumb over"- The bridge is similarly vintage, and comes blocked. If you really want the newer Fender bridge, you are out of luck. Given my set-up experience (above), I'm not convinced I could just "remove the block" and have it playable without additional set-up.- Tweed case looks amazing, but is not form fitting like the new TSA case that comes with other American Fenders. I wanted a tweed case, and I don't fly with my guitar, so not a big deal to me.Overall I feel like I made the right choice in buying a Strat, and I can't put it down. I have wanted an American made Strat for the longest. Not just any American Strat, but The One built to my specs from the looks right down to the pots and of course the feel and sustain. This is it and AMS made it easy and in reach just as they've helped me to make other musical dreams to come true! This guitar feels great, sounds amazing, beyond my hopes & expectations, and even the price tag was a pleasant surprise! Tech has come a long way, but in a lot of ways we've lost craftsmanship. Well, not out of Corona California. Crisp tones, nuanced variation, and that wonderful Fender sustain! I have some other expensive guitars, which I love, but at under their price point the Professional II is going to be a close lifetime friend. If you are looking at these and don't need boutique trimming of the Ultra line or the royal treatment of the Custom Shop, look no further and pay no more. This is my second American Stratocaster. My first is from 2007 and it has a rosewood fretboard. I wanted a maple neck strat as well. I bought the Miami blue version and love it. To me, Strats are each very unique in the way they play and sound. My other Strat has Dimarzio Area pickups in it (which I love), so I’m having to get used to the stock single coils. I love the bridge, but to my ears the neck pickup it too muddy. The trem system is good, and the overall construction is good. I had to re set it up because I use heavier strings. I may end up changing pickups before it’s all said and done. Only time will tell. I wish Fender would have put Locking tuners on from factory! That’s a must for me.Justin
I purchased this guitar about 3 weeks ago (working with Zach), it has quickly become my favorite guitar I own. The full rosewood neck is incredibly smooth and the the deep C shape is extremely comfortable. I mostly play through a Helix Stomp and have been really happy with the sound and tone variability I can get with it using the various pickup selections especially with the push/push for adding the top pickup to the mix for positions 1 and 2. The pictures in the listing look great, but it looks much better in person. The pictures have a lot of light which makes the blue appear lighter than it would in a normal room. The picture where the guitar is positioned in the case is a great representation of the color in a normally lit room.Kevin

Received my Olympic white lead iii a few days ago, tuned and tweaked a bit and fired it up. I play direct into a Bose L1 model ii with boss me 70 and speaker emulation. I do this because at our church we play direct in so that’s my set up. This guitar sounded very nice but a tad thin so I changed out the strings to fender 10’s and wow! This little beast came to life! Very nice almost vintage tone and beautiful resonance with the alder body. Not really a coil split fan but has a nice Tele/Strat quack to it. At this price point you can not go wrong. GET ONE, GET ONE NOW!
The guitar came in faster than expected. The service at Sam Ash was excellent, and the salesman was very helpful with putting my order together. After unboxing, I looked the guitar over closely before plugging to my amp. The fit and finish was flawless. The neck relief, string action, and pickup height were spot on. Then I plugged in and cranked up. This guitar comes with Player Strat pickups, and Player Strat neck. And it flat out Rocks. Everyone says the Korean guitars are so good for the money. This is the first Acoustic/electric that I have owned that I actually love playing. The action is great even with the large gauge acoustic strings on it. Comes with a very nice gig-bag/case. I love the way the neck and back of the guitar looks. I also love the Strat 5-way switch that selects the degree and type of acoustic sound. The only downside with this guitar is the cover that serves as a cover for the electronics and pick guard. It looks cheap, more like a decal than a cover. I think Fender can do better on this detail for the price of the guitar. However, if you can get past that then it is a fine playing and sounding guitar. I have owned several Acoustic and Acoustic/Electric guitars. The action on even high-priced acoustics was so terrible I just ended up selling them. I also do not like the large back ends of most acoustic and acoustic electric guitars, but this guitar is small and easy to play. I would give it an A-.Bill
The research I did on trying to learn more about this instrument via general internet, YouTube, assorted standard Music Company's like Sam Ash; Sweetwater; Guitar Center; Alamo; and other assorted Music Guitar critics provided a good array of opinions and product test results that produced a positive majority with impressive perspectives for the instrument I purchased. The Fender American Acoustasonic Stratocaster Acoustic-Electric Guitar Cocobolo I purchased from Sam Ash was not a disappointment. Aside from the 10 different options of Guitar unique sounds it provides from Acoustic and Electric mixes. The one-of-a-kind Cocobolo wood identifies a further fingerprint in supporting its own private one-of-a-kind signature sound with relationship to the Cocobolo wood unique to it alone. That just blows me away with how special the sound of specialty signature sound it produces with the ten different built in technical sounds the Fender Guitar company developed with this special edition. I feel overwhelmed in learning to continue how to play this guitar. It allows me so many more possibilities with playing soft country to hard rock a really strong guitar enjoyment experience.Guitar Enthusiast
Overall, I am very happy with this guitar. It exudes classic Fender looks and tone. The quality and craftsmanship are decent for the price point. I have a US Tele and, after putting some TLC into this player strat, it feels and plays almost as good as the Tele. I would give it five stars if it were not for fretwork that was needed. Body – The finish and surf pearl color are gorgeous. The wood grain is barely visible (raised) so I would not say the finish is flawless, but the grain is very subtle and adds character in my opinion. The routed cavities for the electronics (top) and the tremolo springs (back) are precisely cut and clean. The electronics cavity was even finished with black paint. Neck – The finish and appearance are great. However, all 22 frets had sprouted; some as much as 1/32". I can't say this is a craftsmanship issue as the frets were probably fine when it was assembled. It must have been a very high humidity environment, though. Nevertheless, after painstakingly filing and redressing all 44 fret ends it feels good. The frets themselves were well seated and leveled. The 3rd and 11th frets were a few thousands of an inch high, but not enough to cause any buzzing issues. The frets were well rounded and polished. Hardware – The tuners are just okay. One of them feels a little rough turning, and they seem to have a low turning ratio making it very touchy to dial in perfect pitch. The 2-point fulcrum tremolo bridge seems like a better design than the traditional (six screw) bridges, but I did not test it. I prefer to block them for more stable tuning, which worked great with this bridge. I have upgraded electronics I had planned to install in this guitar, but the stock pickups aren't bad. They are very quiet and have good tone – there is no rush to replace them. Setup was a breeze. Truss rod adjustment was smooth, nut slots were to spec, and intonation was perfect. The action needed adjustment since I blocked the tremolo, but that was easy.Dave S.

I am a huge Nirvana fan and was living in a figurative cave for a long while so when I finally opened my eyes and knew about this signature KC guitar, I knew I wanted it badly! The overall craftsmanship is great considering it is a MIM but many MIM's nowadays are great too. The only "cheap" part on this guitar is the synthetic nut but that can easily be replaced. The Dimarzio PUPs really scream! The neck is very smooth and playability is awesome! I took it to a guitar tech who set it up. He said he had to shim the neck because the TOM bridge is not stock to the guitar which is no problem and he also had to do a minor fret dress on a few that were a but off.JR
I have played guitar since age 12 or 13. My first guitar I purchased and took lessons at the store was a Fender Squier I believe I can't remember exactly. After that I had to upgrade from a squire.I couldn't stand a squire and never will again. After that I purchased a nice Fender strat. I can remember I kept searching stores looking for a guitar like Kurt Cobain played in Nirvana. And after this guitar purchase I have found the guitar I've been wanting since way back!!! All I can say is WOW!! I am astonished at how great a guitar this is. I recommend this guitar to anyone. The guitar is not just for Nirvana fan's. And you can go spend way over thousands of dollar_s for a vintage strat. To me this guitar looks better and the quality is great and sounds different than a Strat but of course it's a KC Jag. I would love to have a particular vintage strat but not for the vintage prices no way on this earth. The guitar is great with distortion. I recommend to buy this guitar. I've owned the classic player JM before and later I realized I hadn't given jazzmasters a real shot because that guitar just looks like a jazzmaster but is very different from the guitar Leo wanted me to be playing. In terms of the tradeoffs that are made to get to the classic player pricepoint and audience (for example p90's instead of real JM pickups , lack of shielding). I even thought the bridge changes on the classic player were but I really wanted to get more string tension. Then I finally discovered the real story. Leo wanted JMs guitar to have all the trade offs in the original, and if you play with heavy strings (11's or higher) you can see the original specs make the guitar come to life. The only problem is the original USA models are pricey. The TVL is made in Mexico with the same parts as the USA and the same decide. It has the right pickups and everything. It comes with 10's but trust me and put 11's on it and give it a few weeks. This guitar is yet another example of the genius of Leo Fender. It sounds and plays fantastic and it inspires me. I've owned so many guitars you wouldn't believe me if I told you the number. The original spec Jazzmaster is right up there with or even surpasses with the Tele, Strat, LP, SG, and Firebird designs. And this TVL gave me that all at a reasonable price. This the only non-usa guitar I have that I can honestly say is right up there in quality with my other USA guitars. I only made one small tweak to it. The frets were very good for a Mexican Fender guitar. I I made two adjustments to turn this guitar into a dream. First a little light filing to round out the corners of the frets (the corners that sit above the binding). A youtube video will show you how to do it. It took me 15 minutes to take my time and do it right. Second I took some ultra fine steel wool and took the gloss of the back of the neck. Now if I handed this guitar to you, you would not be able to tell the difference from the AVRIJEB
Overall: This was my first jazzmaster ever. I'd wanted it for a few years but didn't quite have enough information to justify the somewhat steep pricing. So I researched as the reviews slowly rolled in over time. I sing backup and play for the local church and was aware of a slight learning curve with this guitar. I had to really get used to the rhythm circuit's function while trying to stay on pitch with the singers. There were parts of songs where I wanted to activate it while singing, but couldn't look down, so I anxiously fumbled around to feel for it. But after a few sessions, I'm glad it's there and have adapted to its placement. There's a bevy of YouTube videos with gorgeous demos that just drip with tone perfection, actively going back and forth in turning the circuit on and off. To add onto that, a main reason I remained intrigued was the wide variety of tones you can get out it. The vintage pickups are remarkable. I believe they are (I forgot where I learned it) overwound, so the signal punches out pretty hot, so be gentle when you first plug in. There's tremendous string separation, and great articulation. I like to play swells with multiple layers of reverbs with shimmer, and bending the tremolo arm at just the right time definately adds another texture on top of them. Keep in mind that this guitar does not come set up out the box. The pickups were unscrewed way too high, the neck was pretty dry, and the strings were not in tune. If you know how to do a decent setup, you're covered. There's nothing confusing going on here. But if you're unsure, just take it to your friendly neighborhood guitar tech, and that's that. Fender swapped out the saddles with the mustang bridge, which is fine, since players had been doing that for years. But I still had to do that tape trick for a bit to keep the thing secured. PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! If you're really considering this guitar or any other jazzmaster or jaguar for that matter, don't do it unless you can also commit to upgrading to the Mastery bridge. You'll be happy that you did so. I cannot speak high enough praise to their product. On top of the stability and durability of them, they actually add sustain to your playing. Google it and find out for yourself. This is just my humble opinion. But now let me talk about what everyone already knows. We can all agree that this is arguably one of the most visually stimulating guitars on the planet. Trust me, as great as the photos are, they do not do this guitar justice. When I first opened the box, I just sat there, appreciating its splendor. I almost felt that I shouldn't touch it. The oxblood body with matching headstock are an immaculately wonderful union, and the rosewood fretboard with pearloid inlays are perfectly in sync between the two. The vintage tuners were a completely new thing to me, but a quick tutorial brought me up to speed. The hardshell case is good quality, very secure fit inside, next to a large storage compartment for my other accessories and strap. The price point is a bit high for what you're getting out of the box, what with upgrading saddles, and not arriving in playing condition. In my opinion, 1,199.99 should've been the highest recommended retail. But to my knowledge, a lot of detail goes into this guitar's design, so maybe Fender is trying to cover some internal cost, I don't know for sure. Take that in with a huge grain of salt. I'm not putting it lightly when I say that this is not what I would call a value guitar. But when you consider all the other aspects, you are getting tons of valuable features. People drool over this thing wherever I take it, I always find what I'm looking for when tweaking effects and amp models, and the sound is undeniably without flaw after adding the mastery bridge. I would recommend this guitar to the seasoned player who can either play confidently, or can adapt easily from guitar to guitar. This shouldn't be with a novice player who is still learning, or is still building player confidence. I bought this guitar about four months ago now and I absolutely love it. I had mainly considered this model and the american vintage while looking for a jazzmaster and ended up choosing this one because it had the same hardware, electronics, and pickups as the american vintage at a much cheaper price, and in my opinion looked even better than the av. I also own a Gibson Les Paul Classic Custom and Explorer 120, and this guitar holds it's own with those even being made at the Mexican factory as a more budget guitar. This guitar is a great deal, and you get a lot for what you pay. I was expecting to like the guitar mainly for cleans, but it sounds fantastic for classic rock and even metal along the lines of Mastodon, The Sword, etc. The pickups are also super versatile with each of the four positions sounding very different. I got it thinking I'd use it for one particular sound and was very happily surprised. Also, this is the first guitar that I own with a trem, and I've never liked trems on other guitars I've played before so I wasn't expecting to use this one. After playing with this trem a bit I found it was very usable and also relatively stable. The only changes I made to the guitar was swapping the mustang bridge for a Mastery bridge and swapping the the strap buttons for Schaller strap locks. The stock bridge was good, but I prefer the Mastery. Other than that, everything was great stock. Overall, the finish, frets, binding, and setup are pretty great. The finish looks amazing in person, the pictures online that I've seen really don't do it justice. It goes great with the block inlays, binding, and tortoise shell pickguard. Fender and TVL did a great job with this design. The neck profile feels nice, and it's probably the lightest guitar I own making it the most comfortable to play.Andrew

I just got a grey aerodyne SSH strat. I've never gelled with a fender before. After playing my first gig with this thing I'm so impressed. The neck is amazing. Looks are a amazing. The weight is perfect. That top contouring is so comfortable. The controls… I thought I would want to swap the metal knobs out for traditional plastic knobs because they were smooth, however I had no issues making adjustments to the volume and tone mid song… and they look amazing. The knobs are staying. The pickups. wow. just wow. The traditional strat sounds are here, but they offer more to my ears. More aggression when I needed it. The neck and middle pickups worked perfectly with that bridge humbucker. Switching to the bridge for leads was so satisfying. The sound guy came over after we finished and complimented my tone. He asked me what pedals I was using, and was surprised when I told him I just used delay and reverb. Everything else was the amp and adjusting the controls. These pickups… even when I roll off the tone they somehow still retain clarity. The right kind of clarity. I've played other strats, even American strats (but never custom shop), and these aerodyne pickups are in a league of their own. Overall: Wow, I love this bass……From the moment I received this bass, it has been my go to axe. The pickups are excellent and very aggressive, yet keep that P bass type tone. Both pickups have proven to be very articulated in the mids and not to boomy in the lows. Just perfect for my taste. The highs are very clear but not too disjointed from the mids and lows. I use Rotosound 77 flatwounds. I did change the crappy bridge to a Hipshot Kickass bridge.Now, lets talk about the neck. I do agree that the neck is a little heavy but if you are sitting down, that should not be a problem. If you are standing up then you should be using a 3" wide strap. That rule goes for most Fender style basses. The neck is wide because it projects a P style tone that can only be accomplished by this thick neck type. If you pick up a 50's type P bass you will notice very quickly how thick the neck is, yet some bass players won't play anything else.Tone, sustain and playability. That is what you get with this bass. It's definitely not a bass for everyone but this bass is a kickass bass if you are comfortable with it.The frets were perfectly dressed and the fretboard had a nice finish. If you look at the shape of this Jaguar bass you will notice a lot of real estate in the slab of the body. This, along with this neck makes a perfect combination for sustain and presence which you can feel through your chess as you play it. Overall: Wonderful instrument, the best I've owned. Setting the intonation was the hardest for me of the guitars I've owned, but once it is setup it is wonderful. The quality is amazing. I have never owned a Fender before and it is the best I have had. The vibrato arm sends it out of tune if you try dive bombing lulz Not really a complaint, just a fact. I am not too impressed with the pickups (they produce what seems to be a lot of telecaster sound) but that is not a problem either because I always swap the stock pickups out anyways. I love the 24 inch scale, I feel like the 22nd fret in not necessary though on this short scale, the additional fret pushes the frets closer together and would makes some chords harder to pull off that need lots of fingers on the same fret. Luckily for me i have small hands and fingers so not an issue. I still love this guitar and plan to keep it forever.Justin
If it wasn't so beautiful looking and if it didn't sound so good I wouldn't have played it so much. Now I can't return it without significant restock fees and shipping. My opinion is that the guitar I received has a major problem. I haven't completely sorted it out but here it is: significant static pops come through the amp when I touch or rub a a place on the pickguard near the selector switch. My guess is there is either a bad solder joint or two wires pinched together. So I have to pack the thing off to a Fender repair shop for warranty work. I've owned many guitars both new and old and this is a first. Yes it is the lowest cost offset one can buy with the name Fender on the headstock. But I've several less expensive Squiers that were perfect. The quality of the components and the fit and finish of this guitar seem great. Now to get the static fixed. I had heard that MExican Fenders were very well made, not the electronics on this one.vinny71

My wife thought the Inca silver guitar was beautiful. I thought it was very unique looking and assumed that since it was made in Japan, it would be very high quality. The Gotoh tuners are incredibly difficult to turn. Hopefully this is an anomaly. I could try to loosen them but I expect a guitar like this to need nothing from the start. Also the guitar would not hold tune and yes, the strings were stretched. The tremelo bar requires an allen wrench (provided) to install and remove. Although I'm no guitar tech, it looked as if the two fulcrum screws were not tightened enough. Regardless, even when not using the tremelo, just the heel of my hand resting on the bridge would make the guitar squirrelly. This was very frustrating. The low E string had a buzz on the lower few frets and I broke the high E string my 2nd day of playing it. I've gone years without breaking a string on other guitars and I just do whole step bends, nothing more. The pickups sounded fine, the TBX tone control is not something I claim to understand, but it sounds ok. The guitar is not very versatile – kind of a one trick pony good for cranked up crunch guitar, which I was ok with. The 12" radius and jumbo frets? Not very comfortable IMHO. Kind of a tiring guitar to play. I wanted to like this guitar, but again, I refuse to start out with it needing work so it 's going back and the days of me assuming that Japanese quality, or at least quality control, are over.Kelly G.
I was in the market for a Fender guitar so as I browsed I saw a beautiful Telecaster that I really liked but it didn't have a whammy bar so I continued to browse, then I saw this beautiful Stratocaster and it was love at first sight. Plus it plays and sounds great. I'm loving it! 👍🏻Clarence
This is a monster of a guitar! You get so much for your money! First off, the feel of this guitar rivals American build quality. The neck has that rolled edge feel to it with more of a satin back. The jumbo frets feel absolutely perfect. If you had told me that this was made in the US, I certainly would believe it based on the feel and quality of construction. The features are so cool on this guitar! While it has two humbuckers, the coil split turns both of them into single coils. Normally, split coil humbuckers do not sound like single coils, but both of these pickups are so good. The split neck pickup has that woody, full tone to it, just like a good quality single coil. The humbuckers have a good throaty feel to them, they are great for rock tones, but they have a vocal quality to them that gives them a really great character even when they are clean. This TBX tone control is an amazing addition and is what makes this guitar so crazy versatile. It has a notch that lets you know it is a halfway. This is like using a regular 250k tone pot. It sounds great with both the humbuckers and the split coils. But, when you take the tone to '10', it enhances both treble and bass by engaging a 1000k pot. It gives a higher gain, somewhat scooped tone. This is great for rock, blues, grunge etc. Just an amazing tone to me! To sum up the tone, this guitar sounds amazing playing high gain rock as well as playing John Mayer licks. It is seriously that versatile. I have never played a guitar that can cover so much tonal territory. The other appointments are absolutely top notch. This guitar has a bone nut, graph tech type saddles, and super high quality gotoh tuners. The crazy thing about this guitar is that I feel that I have just purchased two high quality guitars for a price that is less than one american strat. Gorgeous clean single coil tones, AND heavy, thick humbucker tones all in one unit. I can't recommend this guitar highly enough!Mike
