Reviews:
Ok… first off, the fanned frets are amazing. The extra scale is incredible… If you need it. The tonal qualities are insane! The pickups and electronics are on point. The finish is stunning. The neck… well… it took me a while to feel comfortable with it. It’s “chunky.” I had a hard time getting it set up to make it feel good. The string height from the factory Was really high!Bassgurl3369
I played one of these in a guitar shop in late 2019 and fell in love with it. This bass just fits my hands, plays effortlessly, and has perfect balance. You might think that the fanned frets would be an issue but if anything it adds to the comfort. Out of the box, it was set up really well and the intonation was spot on.Mark
Overall: I purchased this bass and the darkglass preamp from zZounds as a cheaper alternative to a Dingwall. As far as sound goes, it’s awesome. A ton of midrange and enough bass to shake the house down. Treble is a little harsh at times with the stock preamp. My only complaint is the tuners. They don’t hold as well as I’d like. But overall a solid 4/5.

Premium built guitar with very attractive price tag (sale). Beautiful maple top, comfortable neck with roasted maple fretboard, lovely sound. Only pots feel cheap and tone change pot in passive mode could be improved as it's far from the smoothness experienced on for example my other bass guitar which is Fender Precision.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

Reviews:
Really good bass in meaning of sound, total appearance (only small manufacturing broke acceptable for me) and all the specific features it has: light weight, handfull knobs, plastic base for keeping right hand in the place. Before actual purchase I already have studied few posts and video reviews, and keeping in hand then playing had prove all of it. Will have to get using smaller dimensions between strings while playing left hand as the neck is not wide and very comfortable, so it's just a matter of practice. Was a little in doubt before as it's the first fretless for me, but after trying I absolutely love it.
The good: 5-string fretless that is a real bang for your buck. The neck is thin and plays fast. Tri-wing tuners are convenient. Ebony fingerboard is smooth (although scratches slightly as you play). Limited knobs make volume and tone control straight-forward. The action is great; I would even set the string height lower. The ramp helps, however gets in the way if you want to experiment w/ slapping on a fretless. Beautiful tone, although that is subjective. Not so obvious: Neck is maple, NOT matching the body color. Pickup is NOT contoured like the ramp (as on the GWB1).The bad: The QC for Ibanez was horrible. The pickup/preamp was blown, right out of the box. There was a chip in the finish near the battery compartment. A small dimple in the finish on the front of the bass. Rather than take the matter up with MF, I decided to take the bass to an authorized Ibanez repair shop. I have played this bass for one day, and have not seen it in 5 weeks. Hoshino (Ibanez) says it will take another 4 weeks for my pickup replacement to arrive to the repair shop from Japan. I still recommend this bass however, caveat emptor (let the buyer beware).Heerul

Reviews:
Sound: I own a lot of basses, and many are high dollar-instruments: Warwick Neck-Thru Katana 5 string, Fender American Elite Jazz Bass V, Fender American Elite Precision Bass (IV),1962 Hofner Reissue 500/1, Rickenbacker 4001 Bass. You get the idea. I purchased an Ibanez SRSC805 Bass about a year ago. First, the negatives: When I took it out of the box it looked unfinished (and not just a body without a finish). There was still sawdust in the crevasses of the bass. The natural unfinished wood made the instrument look cheap. There was no sealer, nothing, just raw wood. Two coat of Tung Oil with a good buffing after both coats absolutely made the Burled Poplar and Purple Heart and Maple woods "pop"! Now the bass is beautiful. I tried to setup the instrument to my liking, which is a low action with no fret noise or muted notes. I know exactly how to do this. But the instrument string height above the fretboard could not be set low. The strings buzzed and/or were muted at the first and second frets. Design flaw I imagine. The neck is slightly pitched up from the body of the bass. Want low action? Pitch the neck slightly down from the bass body. The truss rod placement and end-connection at the head of the bass may be flawed. Meaning; the neck is not uniformly adjustable by the Truss Rod. I was frustrated. Ibanez advertises that the SRSC805 has the "fastest action in its class". Whatever that means? Well it does not.But now the good news: The string height above the fretboard can be set to a reasonable clearance that is within professional expectations. It is light and ergonomic, and it sounds magnificent! I have never had a bass that is so very balanced in tone, from string- to-string and at any fret position as the Ibanez SRSC805 is. With most active, five string basses, you set the EQ for a nice full, but clearly articulate low B and E strings. But then the high notes on the D and G strings are thin and metallic sounding and are softer by significant and annoying decibel levels. The Ibanez SRSC805 does not have this annoying trait. The bass has exactly the right mix of clear articulation and "stringy" sounding sustain. I love this bass. And most of my $60,000 worth of bass collections now sits in storage while I and the Ibanez are having a fine-hot time. It is the best sounding bass I own. Get one, live with the flaws. You will not be dissapointed. Features: Everything is great, except for the neck. The neck is not the same as other SR Basses. The neck needs to be stiffer. The truss rod placement is wrong. The pitch of the neck; up from the body should be changed to a downward pitched neck. Ease of Use: Fantastic sounding bass! Very ergonomic. WOW! Quality: All of the components are very good. But the instruments has some flaws that could be remedied with design adjustments. Ibanez will probably never read this evaluation of the bass. Too bad. They should listen. The bass could be so very much better. Value: Yes. Manufacturer Support: I have not contacted Ibanez. The Wow Factor: Once the wood is finished, the instrument is beautiful to look at. Overall: See below.Dr
I bought this bass as my first 5 string. I own Japanese Ibanez bass and vintage Ibanez guitar. Japanese made are always better. What I like about this bass the the great sustain it has and overall the looks is really nice. But being made in Indonesia I was skeptical, I was right. Maybe I'm nip picking but craftsmanship is a little low for the price point this bass is at. Probably because of the type of wood being used. The abalone inlay on my bass is a slightly off, the individual bridge are all not the same height compared to the pictures online. overall the bass sounds great and is playable despite the little details I'm picking on,. but would I recommend this bass? Yes but do check details if you care about it. I kept mine because the little details doesn't effect the playability or sound of the bass. being made in Indonesian, don't expect it to be the same as Japanese made Ibanez.Ash
I play 8 to 10 gigs a month in the D/Ftw metroplex. I bought this bass in may. What a joy to play ! I get incredible tone through my acoustic 450, no effects. The neck is awesome, the whole feel is great. Its light so after 4 hours i dont feel tired. Plus is a beautiful bass. I highly recommend this bass. Love it !Barry

Reviews:
This rating is based on my experience dealing with PMT after receiving the bass not as described. I ordered a bass described as brand new but received one that had clearly been used. After multiple occasions of failing to call back despite promises and a long chain of antagonistic emails they appear to be making it as difficult as possible for me to simply exchange the bass. This is in part due to the questionable practise of not actually carrying some of the stock that they sell. I’d offered to drop off and exchange at a store but this was refused and their preferred method is that I waste an entire day waiting for a collection then another day at some point in the future awaiting a delivery in order to correct their initial mistake. I have been offered nothing in the way of an apology let alone compensation for the considerable extra faff!DL
Luminous side dots absolutely do not work! Hard to see the abalone against the roasted maple. Otherwise a good bassDbass6cat
For the longest time, I have been in search of a short multi-scale fanned fret bass. I looked into Dingwall and they were just too expensive and would not make a 30-32" multi-scale. Then I saw this at NAMM and flipped out! it has everything I wanted – 5 string; multi-scale; passive/active electronics with adjustable mids; and the maple neck smells like maple syrup and plays like butter! I had it set up and changed the strings to Ernie Ball Slinky Colbalt and life was good! It is so versatile so I can go from a jazz gig to a Metal show. It truly is my dream bass.Joe B
