Ibanez 6 String Acoustic Guitar For Sale (2024 Update)

There are hundreds of reviews on this guitar, of course some good and some bad. The good reviews (4-5 stars) far out number the rest. Although I’ve read some really, really bad ones. I suppose every guitar maker churns out a turd on occasion when mass producing affordable beginner (read inexpensive) guitars.
I can only tell you about my particular guitar.
It is fantastic, it’s beautiful, sounds amazing (plugged in and acoustic), plays amazingly well, stays in tune, the tuners are smooth and work as you would expect on a much more expensive guitar. The neck is perfect, the action is great (Martin MA540 Authentic Acoustic Light strings 0.054-0.012). I haven’t a single complaint I can’t say whether the quality has gone up or down in the last few years. Mine is an earlier production model about 10 years old. They’re relatively common , You can find a nice used one locally in most cities for under $150. That way you can play and give it a thorough inspection before you buy it. Check your local Guitar Center, try it, return it if you don’t like it, my bet is you will love it.Larry Daniels

I usually don't leave negative reviews. This guitar is beautiful, it sounds amazing. However, I just can't believe that guitar center would let this be shipped. The neck seems fine but every fret divider is razor sharp. It's so uncomfortable that I have quit playing it. Living in a small town it's very expensive to return stuff, so I guess it will just sit for now. To guitar centers credit, I have shopped there for many years and never been disappointed. But gee guys, why wouldn't you be checking this stuff? If I picked it off your wall I would never buy it unless you fixed it for me. Sorry but this sucksJohn

Tried out two of these at the local store looking for a first guitar for my son. Both sounded pretty good for the price point, but both had problems with the neck and really terrible frets. Terrible like not safe for children or unsuspecting adults – they both had sharp edges sticking out the whole length of the neck. Between that, some minor string buzz, a crazy high 9th fret on one, and iffy intonation on the other, it just didn't seem worth getting either of them. What's the point of getting a low priced guitar if you have to spend $100+ getting it worked over to make it playable? I suspect that the neck binding makes it difficult for the factory to really get the frets properly dressed and still pass cosmetic inspection. It may be I just had the bad luck to find the two worst examples of this model in the same store, but I suggest you move up notch in price range and you will be happier with what you get.triple.ratrider

. Now let me set the scene… I am a guitar lover (I can even play a little too) and a quality professional so My expectations are somewhat higher than most looking at this product. An absolutely beautiful instrument, this is my second SA360 and although they are no longer. Made in Japan, be assured they have not lost any of the build quality or attention to detail. The guitar was really well set up, is great to play, feels good in the hand and sounds the bee’s knee’s. If you are looking to start out in guitar playing get yourself an Ibanez Gio to start as a first upgrade from that, then the SA series is where you want to be at.Timbo

Overall: Normally I don't write reviews unless I stumble upon something exceptional, and this guitar is no doubt something else. I've been doing research over the past year to find my dream acoustic guitar, something that I'll cherish for a lifetime. I'll start off by sharing that I'm not an Ibanez guy per se, although I am a big fan of their craftsmanship for their electric guitars, I've mostly played HSS Stratocaster's before settling down to my Studio Les Paul. Up until now the only acoustics I've had were beater guitars, with the exception of a Luna Acoustic which was a gift I could never quite take to because of the small neck profile and scale. A few months ago I was lucky to run into an Ibanez AW54 Artwood (non electric, no cutaway) at a local guitar shop and was blown away by the sound and tone, it had the same richness and warmth as a mahogany Martin and Taylor (both cost over a grand) but with way better action and feel. At that moment I was sold. I needed to get the AW54CE.This morning I was pumped to find the guitar arrived after 2 days, free shipping. Even though the temp outside was 40 degrees (big concern), the guitar was well-packaged and insulated. Taking it out of the box I felt like a kid on Christmas. The pictures you'll find floating around the internet don't do this thing justice. Not one flaw or blemish anywhere to be found. And the one thing that shocked me the most, the neck and bridge needed absolutely zero adjustment. The action was flawless! There was already a battery inside, so after an hour of letting it acclimate, I just tuned it up and was absolutely floored by the tone. Holy crap. I still can't believe I can rip on this thing like my Les Paul, with no action set up whatsoever! I'm now sold on Ibanez products. The craftsmanship between the setup, the bridge, the special pins, tuning heads, attention to detail with the neck, I could go on forever. But I'll leave you with this. If you're in the market to drop a couple hundred on an acoustic, and you want QUALITY that will hopefully last you a lifetime, look no further. This is the guitar you've been dreaming of.Christopher

Having played bass for 28 years I never thought I'd actually enjoy playing an acoustic guitar. I grabbed this as a barley used guitar for my daughters to learn on. Even if they don't follow through and get tired of it, I'll keep it for myself. The wood and finish are what caught my eye, as the mahogany and ovangkol match my 1206E nicely. But I was blown away when I realized how good it sounded both unplugged and amplified. Aside from a minor cosmetic issue (glue in center of book matched top seam) it was WELL worth the price they were giving away this used acoustic. It still had the pickguard wrap on it! I can't wait to reveal it to the girls for Christmas. A beautiful sounding piece of eye candy. As long as I don't ever need the two-year protection plan, I think this might be the second best guitar investment I've ever made.Matthew

Overall: I purchased this guitar in February and it arrived unplayable. I was unable to review for this reason. Due to living in a remote location and being disabled it was to dificult to exchange, however, zZounds was very prompt at trying to help me return it. Unfortunately my caregiver had to throw away all the packaging. So my fault I couldn't return. I have purchased many ibanez guitars and this was the first time I had a problem. However, it's pretty obvious ibanez knew about this when sending the guitar to zZounds. So a little disappointed. So I'm unable to try this guitar, however, zZounds was very prompt and the customer service was great. I just can't return it and that's my fault. I would still recommend this guitar and zZounds.Kenneth

Looked good online but like someone else said it's like a toy I should have listened. I was told since I didn't like it I would have to pay return shipping and ups quoted me eighty five so I called guitar center and they said I could return it there. This is a great value. I am very impressed with Ibanez acoustics. Other guitars that I've played that are this inexpensive haven't compared. Sound is nice and bright. Highly recommend.Jason F.

I was looking for a travel guitar that sounded half way decent. I saw the Ibanez and checked out some clips on You Tube of folks playing it. Sounded pretty good. The thing is well built, has clean bracing and a rosewood neck and bridge. One piece back with false center purfling (painted on). Bound top and bottom. Ogonkol wood, likely a laminate. But pretty darn decent tone and sustain. Mine came with very low action, and very light gauge strings. So I plan to shim the bridge saddle. Likely not capable of handling strings of anything but a light gauge. Tuners are OK, some have reported trouble with them. But that is probably more to do with string gauge than the mechanics. The neck is small for those who have played a full size guitar and are now switching. I play mandolin, too. So its an easy change to this size of neck. Tuned a fourth up from standard, and as was pointed out previously, essentially a requinto tuning. Overall as very decent little travel instrument for an extremely reasonable price. I was looking for a tiny guitar because of pain in my right shoulder even from playing my Taylor GS Mini guitar. I chose this instrument because it's so small, I like the sound of steel strings, my fingers on the left hand are already calloused, and especially because the neck is much more narrow than that of the many nylon string models – less cause for pain in the left hand. At first, the neck was so narrow that I couldn't fit my fingers to form chords and thought I'd have to return it. With continued practice, however, it became easy to play. Now, it's so much fun to play, I can't stop. I thought I'd retune it to E to E like a guitar because it would be too much trouble to transpose all my songs to a different key, also that it would be too hard to play with other people. Now I realize, it's no big deal. If, for example, they play in C, I play in G, always 5 notes up. I've fallen in love with the unique sound – sort of like an autoharp or banjo. The people that I play guitar with love that it adds another quality of sound. It's not just another guitar. It's also a pretty little instrument. I highly recommend it.jeannie7is

This thing is really excellent. I was totally surprised at how much I liked it, given my bad experience with the EP9. I loved the EP7, but had to part with it. This is my favorite of the three, with one exception: The strong paint smell, which I have noticed on several Chinese guitars lately. Well, if the guitar is going to kill me with chemicals, then at least I'll enjoy the heck out of playing it. (My EP7 smelled really good… kind of like a cedar chest, Don't know if it was because of the guitar or the previous owner, but a smelly guitar can be a buzz kill… or in the case of the EP10, practically give you a buzz! I'm sure that the smell will eventually go away, which is why I am still giving it 5 stars.John

Overall: My Ibanez EP5 Steve Vai Acoustic Guitar, is my first grab when jamming or writing. I've played simultaneously against 3 other acoustics with larger bodies and the tone & projection cuts though with clarity. Unplugged you will not get a big boom bass, but solos come through loud & clear. This guitar replaced an Ovation which was much louder but not as bright. The thin line body is very comfortable and neck perfect for fast solos. It is an incredible value for the price. The black finish shows wear easy. I take it to beach parties and events without a case and does not need to be babied.Louis

Been playing it for a couple of weeks. My feedback. 1. Bajaoo Service The delivery and packaging was to my expectations. 2. The guitar Ideal for someone who has relatively less longer fingers. I used to play on a yamaha c40 which has a std 52mm nut size, whereas this comes with a 46 mm one, so the stretching is comparatively smoother. 2. Retuning of strings is a must before each session, but after a few days the strings seem to retain their tone, which is the case with all guitars. 3. Due to the thin soundboard, the sound is not very projecting but good enough for soloing in a medium sized room. However, the tone for me is acceptable. 4. The preamp works well after connecting to my kustomsound amp if one really needs amplification. There is no on/off switch, so the battery may have to be removed if you are not using the amp. 5. It is artfully finished in terms of its looks. 6. Would be a good buy for someone playing the steel guitar which usually have a 43mm nutsize and wanting to move to a nylon guitar. My overall experience with this guitar has been good so far.Nikhil D.

SATISFIED BUYER has had this only three days now and after one eaay to do truss rod tightening, I got the action nice and low, I AM VERY HAPPY WITH IT!!! I usually sit and play solo electric guitar at gigs using a Godin 3 voice XTSA. But it is too valuable to take to open mics and got damaged once at an open mic. I have toyed around bought and sold about 5 low cost acoustics I found around here, but they all caused thumb joint pain and hand fatique. But the access to the 12 through 18 fret was alnost impossible. I play up the neck often, and this Ibanez Talman finally allows me to focus on the "playing" and not on muscle fatique or joint pain. The neck, sound and features are really outstanding considering the price. The neck is "suberb" for a $200 budget guitar. Although it has a small and thin body, and the volume is "less" than a teaching or jumbo I LIKE IT. It is easy to position comfortably while sitting or standing. Even the 15th fret and above is easy to access, it plays wonderfully.buzzura

This guitar arrived set up right out of the box. No truss adjustments necessary. String action at the second and twelfth frets spot on. The instrument is a perfect fit for me. The size is slightly smaller than a full size guitars but definitely not a toy. Great for travel with a thin neck which makes play ability a dream. Plug it in to an amplifier and the magic happens. Good for small venues and also practice. I had an issue with the electronics but Studio Gears solved it in a timely and professional manner. A thumbs up for the Ibanez Talman TCY10E & Studio Gears. I have been playing classical since age 12, I am now 72. I have found this instrument to be most comfortable and responsive to my needs. I still have my first guitar that was purchased by my parents in 1954. As I play for my own pleasure and an occasional recital, I have found much satisfaction with this product. My son gave it to me 2 years ago for a birthday present. This instrument "fits" me perfectly. The neck is of perfect dimension for my left hand and fingers. As I transitioned from my first guitar to this one, I found it to be so comfortable. As I do not use much, if any, amplification, it is nice for large rooms like church buildings or recitals. I have several classical guitars, and this was the least expensive. It has become my go-to guitar for gigging, including a few spots for TV. At home, this Ibanez is the one that was always out of the case on a stand, ready to pick up whenever. So it became comfortable, but then noticeably reliable. It stays in tune. The electronics sound better than the Fishman on another that I have, particularly the bass response. The tuners (particularly the low E) have withstood routine changes to drop D a few times while playing, without obvious sign of wear. When I first started gigging I used another great sounding guitar but then changed to the Ibanez to protect the other(s) from bumps, weather, people, and other hazards. If something terrible happened to my guitar collection, probably the first replacement might be this Ibanez.Tim - ATL

Outstanding value in this Ibanez guitar. First off, it's beautiful to look at it. Blue or the black, you can't go wrong. They are both attractive (I bought the black one). Neck is smooth as butter. Sounds great plugged into my little Blackstar amp and just as good unplugged. The gear seems like something you'd find on a higher priced guitar. The tuners and EQ are top notch. Really couldn't be happier with the guitar, the price and the service from AMS. They promised 2 day shipping and they delivered.Eric

Overall: Great for playing in the living room, I've strummed pretty hard on this and it can take it. Everything works great on it. Stays in tune good. Frets probably need filed like everyone else is saying but I'm very happy with it.Joe

Sound: I changed the settings as I always do when purchasing a guitar, and if course had to retune until the string memory was suffice. I haven't had to retune it since (after 3 weeks … Of course some minor tuning was needed). The eq helped get more low end that I desired. Features: I like the truss rod feature, I changed the tuners to some more appealing Gibson deluxe tuners. The frets needed a little filing but minor tweaks and adjustments are almost always necessary to obtain desired playability. Most (inexperienced) People want straight out of the box perfection, I suggest bringing any new guitar to someone that knows what they're doing and tell them what you want. My brother worked for Gibson custom shop as a guitar tech and let me know that most companies rely on quantity and not so much perfecting every guitar as everyone's idea of perfect is different. I dont often review products I buy on eBay and I buy things on here every month. I have never heard of this Parlor Style until recently and I Started playing heavily before the Internet was really a thing so maybe thats why because I just stumbled across them accidentally. I wouldve bought one of these a long time ago if I knew they existed and its budget price absolutely dirt cheap, for an extremely premium guitar and Im not exaggerating this in any way. The smaller size of everything makes it so its not work to play it, plus its got a really Unique set of sounds that Ive never really heard from another acoustic. The great low price on top of the quality, it feels like this guitar is built more solid then the typical Dreadnought and it was delivered like two or three days earlier than it was supposed to and Im going to definitely get another guitar soon. I like the smaller body styles now that Ive kind of discovered them I want to look into owning some. Im going to hopefully go through the same seller. I had some questions and they were very prompt in responding they had good customer service and I look forward to working with the seller again and I highly recommend this seller and this instrument, weather your a pro or beginner and anything in between its an amazing guitar Id give it 10 stars if I could!!! I bought this guitar for taking on road trips to save space primarily for family sing-alongs and practicing. Obviously, I didn't expect it to have as deep and rich a tone as a dreadnaught, but the tone does seem a little "tinny," which may just be an artifact of the small sound box. Fine for small venues or practice. The finish around the sound hole was a little rough, but otherwise the finish was very nice and smooth with a high gloss finish. Once it was acclimated to the temperature and humidity in my home, it stayed in tune. No problems "out of the box" with string-to-fretboard spacing and no luthier adjustment was needed.The Professor

for the money and the price it is a gr8 couch guitar. run some scales, practice some chords or just play them. it has good playability and action. the tone of the sound is good for this price range & one could say, not bad in general. only critique is that the g,b & e strings sound a bit thin. the other ones are fine. very happy with the guitar for a cheap, more then decent couch ax. oh, gr8 inlay & binding went into the guitar as well.prestame

Easy to tune and holds the tones. I played around with tuning from Standard to Chicago tuning without changing the original strings. Doing just fine with the new tuning. Compared the string gauges that came on this tenor and found them to be within range of "light" strings for regular guitar. Nice!Sherrie

This is, I think, the least expensive acoustic tenor guitar of MF. But it does what it is designed to do at a great price point. Out of the box it was certainly playable, but I did two things to mine a) a little nut slot filing as they were a bit high, which is better than too low~! and b) I sanded down the saddle bottom 1/16". Now it plays great. The tuners aren't great but hold tune well, compared to most ukes (yes, I know this is a tenor, but they are close in size) I've played. This is a great guitar for those who are just trying to have a tenor to goof around on, as anyone who gets serious would want to move up to a better instrument. I'm having lots of fun with mine. Would be fine to take to jams.backporchmusic
