Plays beatifically. Really nice sound through headphone or output jack. Not quite like a classical guitar – sustain is longer, a bit more like an electric guitar, so sometimes a need to dampen strings when you wouldn't need to on a 'real' guitar. Easy to play – I was pleasantly surprised I did not have to adapt my position in any way. OK, I got mine 5 or 6 years ago, because my arthritis was making steel string acoustics too difficult. The slightly wider neck and nylon strings have extended my career. I use it two ways, first, it's great for solo work, fingerstyle. I also play it with a pick, for jazzy and Willie Nelson country style. There's little feedback at normal volume, and it has a great tone. Just played out with it, and got many compliments on the sound.TGB
The picture on the AMS website doesn’t do the guitar justice, as it’s much more beautiful than that! The tuners are typical Godin proprietary, as they look good, and are smooth and stable in operation. I play with many alternative tunings, and am very happy with their smooth use. When running straight through my Roland Jazz Chorus 40, I can get any sound I expect from it. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get a GR-55 soon to experiment with all the synth sounds! With the exception of the heavy total weight, this guitar is perfect for my use.John K.
I've been Jonesin' for a nylon string guitar to add to my arsenal. I tried several, but the thing that I kept coming back to was the intonation issues inherent in a traditional design. So, I started looking for a nylon string that had different compensation on the saddle pieces. I came across this Godin, and since I already have two 13-pin synth access guitars, this seemed like a perfect match. When it arrived, I was surprised to find that it's actually a solid body guitar with some chambering. I mean, I knew it was a slim body, but I thought it was a slim hollow body. In retrospect, this has some advantages and some disadvantages… First of all, this is NOT the guitar that you're going to grab to sit around the campfire with your friends. It's as loud as a normal electric guitar that's not plugged in. The advantage, of course, is that you can jack this up as loud as you please in performance without worrying about body howl type feedback.Doug

It's exactly what you expect. Not quite a classic guitar but will get the job done. I was thinking the smaller neck would be easier to transition to from electric but I'm thinking it may be a little too narrow for me now. I guess I'm use to the feel of a real classical guitar neck and with nylon strings this neck feels too small. Not the manufacturer's fault, the guitar is exactly as described. I could see this being good for someone who's never played a classical guitar though. Tuner and electronics work great and it's a great guitar for the price but if you've played a real classical guitar the neck may feel a little cramped.GT6L6

This is the entry level NTX model. The SDOTD price was a genuine and honest discount. But, the product description was confusing and possibly misleading. It describes an "A.R.T. System61" that is not installed on this guitar. The pickup system on this guitar is the System73. The System73 is a common under-saddle piezo strip configuration. The System61 is the Yamaha proprietary technology that is installed on all other NXT models. There is a noticeable 'runout' effect between the top halves of the sound board. Otherwise, the seam between the halves is impossible to discern. In fact, there were no seams, joins or gaps visible anywhere on the outside of this guitar. The neck and head stock are a work of art. To reiterate, the top is two spruce planks, the back and sides could be Okume or Nato. Yamaha does not list these woods as being laminated. Okume is an African hardwood and Nato is from South America. Both are considered acceptable mahogany substitutes. My guitar was made in China and sounds good enough given my untutored ear. The guitar has a truss rod, the 'urea' saddle is angled and uncompensated. My intonation and string height did not need adjustment. The NXT500's 'Slim' neck and nylon tones make this guitar hard to put down. Its also very light. I have several other steel string acoustics but I played this guitar exclusively for over a week, mostly unplugged. It plays well in my living room with a Fender Acoustasonic 15. The on-board tuner and rear-pointed tuning keys were convenient and comforting. I used them both a lot… btw, do nylon strings ever break in? The SKB-30 Deluxe Thin-Line guitar case fits this guitar perfectly. I purchased a “blemished” until and it took me running my finger tips over every square inch of the guitar to figure out what they were considering a blemish. It turned out (at least I think) that the clear finish had a scuff on the bottom of the guitar that cannot even been see unless the light hits it at just the right angle. As far as playability, that guitar sounds great. I read as much as I could find before I pulled the trigger and like others stated, it is a tad bit bassy but not unpleasantly so. The nylon strings are a bit soft but that’s to be expected. This is my first classical guitar and I am greatly satisfied with all the aspects of my purchase from the appearance, sound and value for my money as well as another great experience from American Musical Supply. From the headstock to the body of the guitar, this classical guitar is a unique eye catcher. The color of the white ebony on Cordoba 45 seem so mellow yet so vibrant in color variation. The solid European spruce top definitely contrasts very well with the ebony fretboard that is as dark as black coffee brewed in the morning. This is a serious upgrade for a player looking for a Spanish made guitar with superior quality without breaking the bank (For a Spanish made guitar). The only gripe I have is the factory strings. I personally play with light tension strings since I thin twigs for fingers, so if you don't have much finger strength or thick sausage fingers then I'd highly recommend getting a guitar set-up with light nylon strings from your local luthier.Peter R.

I purchased this guitar for my son who starts to learn how to play. It is a very cheap entry guitar but has a wonderful sound. As it has open pore finish, it has a little bit dry sound and may be weak in its durability. But Cordoba has found a good balance between sound and price. I strongly recommend Cordoba C1M to beginners.Andy
Excellent sound, finish, and feel. Perfect– from young students to experienced guitarists — sized right for smaller hands. Even the neck is slightly downsized at 1.88 inches, as opposed to a more standard 2 inch nut width. Enhanced by Savarez 500 CJ high tension strings, this instrument rings out very well, especially for a 3/4 sized guitar. When you order your Protege C1 (or C1M) it might be a good idea to order a set of replacement strings at the same time. I did. Don't be fooled by the 3/4 designation. Actually, the 24.2 inch scale length is not that far off of many full scale instruments. My Fender dreadnought has a 25.3 inch scale length. These high tension strings on this short scale guitar feel very similar to normal (medium) tension strings on a full scale guitar. I installed my under-the-strings pickup so I can plug into an amp in larger rooms. Sounds great!

So I originally wanted to buy a Taylor T5 because they feel so good and sound so awesome. This guitar sounds just as good as a Taylor T5 and about the third of the price. And its appearance is just absolutely beautiful. I was all set to upgrade the strings and set it up to my own preferences but once I started playing it it was just perfect. This is my first classic style guitar. Its heavy, really heavy, I thought it would be light to pick up. Its really well made. The pick up are great and very bright. Shipping strings are good. No case or cover, box was well done, awesome even. Has a nubone nut, had to lube quite a bit for tuning. I feel like its a bit over priced, but that might just be me. Again, its solid, like you can smack someone with it and it won't care. I love the head stock. I got this because my hands are falling into ruin from diabetes. I'm trying really hard to find a falt for it, its just a beefy hard core classic style guitar. Volume is pretty low. If your getting into nylon strings i'd recommend it. So after about 40 years of playing music and traveling everywhere I had never actually owned and played a hybrid acoustic guitar. I wanted a Taylor T5, so sweet. $2000 was more than I wanted to give to add to my collection of 30 guitars already. My I caught this gorgeous ESP Telluride acoustic electric guitar. Playing it acoustically was nice but running it through an amp I was extremely impressed with the overall sound quality specially wearing a suit of quality headphones such as you would use in a recording session. I had about a third of the price of the T5 the quality is exceptional, not as good as a T5 before the price it is well worth it. Im really digging this guitar. I needed a travel guitar for some upcoming trips and went through the rungs. Tried the martin backpacker and traveler rm sp, but neither met my needs. The martin limits you to 15 frets and the rm sp wasnt that much smaller than my Taylor GS mini. Weve got a young one and traveling with him brings a whole slew of extra things that have to be included in a trip. My wife was not having us give up one of our carry-ons for a guitar and case. The ultra-light is perfect, and I can throw it in my back pack (in its case) with just a little of the neck hanging out. Thus, not having to give up a carry-on. Its perfect. Went with the electric too over the acoustic/electric version because of the tune-o-matic type bridge and saddles. Stellar product. Lastly, the size and sound unplugged are perfection for playing around on with others in the room and not bothering them. It actually makes me play more now.
I never knew why some guitarists have a favorite guitar and even name them. (I own several higher-end guitars and to me, they're just tools.) I purchased a black Traveler Ultra-Light some time in 2019 thinking it was a "cheapie" but good enough to stuff in an overhead bin of an airliner whenever I traveled. I was certainly impressed at how the guitar played and how well it was made, despite the low price. Since then it's been with me everywhere. But that's not how it came to be my favorite guitar. Last November I was hospitalized for 4 days. Because of Covid going around, I couldn't have visitors so I asked my wife to bring me my Traveler so I wouldn't be bored to death. That's when I fell in love with this little guitar. Because I had my own room and because my vitals were checked every hour, I spent a LOT of time playing. And because of its size and how light it was, I could play it in bed. AND it kept my mind off of what I was going through… a big plus for the road to recovery. Today, I purchased my second one in Torino Red and ordered some blacked-out locking tuners so I can keep it at my other place out of state. As for the black one, I'm not leaving that anywhere…. it's staying here with me!
I love this little guitar. I bought mine from the GC store. I have Taylor GS mini for my RV, but it's still too big and too loud in a small rv with others. I saw the Traveller guitars and thought I'd go to a GC and try it out. I'm too new at this so got the GC sales person to play so I could hear the difference using a big amp. The ones with the pickups were hot and a little bitey for me as I only really play acoustic. The Piezo pickup acoustic sounded mellow and it was on the guitarathon sale for 100 dollars off. That tipped it for me. It's small, extremely light and when unplugged, extremely quite quiet. It's so small, I'm finding that I pick up this one more than the regular guitars. Bear in mind, it's not acoustic or electric, so it's not going to sound like anything else. I bought a headphone amp and also use a regular amp when I can be loud. When practicing unplugged at night, it's loud enough for me, but nobody else can hear it. Also, I've found that if I press it tightly to my side, the lower notes reverberate in my chest. With the acoustic pickup there is no tone or volume controls, so everything has to be done through the amp. I'm getting used to that. With no body and only the wire bottom, it takes a little time before it begins to feel normal. The only negative is if I don't hit the notes perfect, I can get some fret buzz. All in all, it's so different from any other guitar, I would suggest trying it in person first. You will either love it or hate it. And remember it's a small travel guitar you can also use regularly. Play it both amplified and unplugged and see if you think it will work for you.Mike

I purchased this guitar for my son who starts to learn how to play. It is a very cheap entry guitar but has a wonderful sound. As it has open pore finish, it has a little bit dry sound and may be weak in its durability. But Cordoba has found a good balance between sound and price. I strongly recommend Cordoba C1M to beginners.Andy
Excellent sound, finish, and feel. Perfect– from young students to experienced guitarists — sized right for smaller hands. Even the neck is slightly downsized at 1.88 inches, as opposed to a more standard 2 inch nut width. Enhanced by Savarez 500 CJ high tension strings, this instrument rings out very well, especially for a 3/4 sized guitar. When you order your Protege C1 (or C1M) it might be a good idea to order a set of replacement strings at the same time. I did. Don't be fooled by the 3/4 designation. Actually, the 24.2 inch scale length is not that far off of many full scale instruments. My Fender dreadnought has a 25.3 inch scale length. These high tension strings on this short scale guitar feel very similar to normal (medium) tension strings on a full scale guitar. I installed my under-the-strings pickup so I can plug into an amp in larger rooms. Sounds great!

I was looking for a good beginner's guitar, and I wanted something with nylon strings. I did a pretty extensive search in order to find an instrument that was relatively inexpensive yet had some degree of quality. I read reviews on this particular model, and most seemed to be pleased. I was able to purchase one that, I'm guessing, had been returned, and I was very pleased with both the reduced price and the condition/quality of the guitar. The guitar itself has a very beautiful and mellow tone. It stays in tune, only requiring minor adjustments from time-to-time. I would not recommend this for young people or those adults with smaller hands, as the neck is somewhat wider than one might expect. All-in-all a very fine instrument for the price.Swewpa
This is the best beginner/student classical guitar there is bar none. It's full size and the intonation is spot on, the tuners (whilst basic) are fully functional and consistent. The bridge saddle has 3rd string compensation and is set to a low-ish action. Putting a new set of EJ45's opens up the sound considerably (don't play with the crappy strings that are on it). Great second or studio guitar for the experienced player. Stick it in a half decent case and you'll have a fantastic holiday guitar for around £150. The spruce soundboard already sounds good and will improve with age. Buy, play it – chuck it about. – it's very well made and robust. Finish is shiny and cleans with a wipe. Buy it today.Warwick M.

I use my C10sp mainly to study and play classical music at home. I own another classical which I use for gigs. I don't want my C10SP to get bumped up and scratched. The sound is well balanced with excellent bass and crisp trebles. The intonation is perfect across the fretboard. The action was standard so I lowered a bit to my taste. The wood is beautiful, the spruce top has a nice color with bear claw marks that makes it unique. The rosewood back and sides has a nice color with a beautiful rose/brownish grain. The tuners are beautiful as well and functional as it keeps the guitar tuned very well all the time. The C10SP is an excellent classical guitar at an incredible price.Guitarmonsterz
I just purchased my Cordoba C9 Parlor, and I'm so excited. Since I previously owned a Taylor GS Mini with steel strings, I was looking for a smaller size guitar with nylon strings. I tried several smaller-feel, nylon guitars (Cordoba Cadete 3/4 Size, Cordoba C5 CET Thinner Body and F7 Paco Flamenco Guitar). The first guitar I tried, the Cordoba Cadete, felt too small. The Cadete is smaller than my Taylor GS Mini. The second guitar, the Cordoba C5 CET, had a slimmer body and a thinner neck. Both of these characteristics made the C5 CET easier to play. However, I felt that its sound was slightly compromised due to its slimmer body. The third guitar I tried, the F7 Paco, was very light and comfortable, but I wasn't akin to playing flamenco, so instead I went with the Cordoba C9 Parlor. I could not be happier with my purchase. Though the D string broke within 3-days of owning my new C9 Parlor, Sam Ash's staff replaced the string same day. Additionally, the C9 Parlor comes with Cordoba's polyfoam case. Please note that this polyfoam case is not a Humicase. Although the case is beautiful, it is heavy and the straps are a flimsy. I wish Cordoba would make a smaller, lighter polyfoam case with more comfortable and durable straps.Dulci
Overall: It is a pleasure and privilege to own the Cordoba C-10 cedar classical guitar because it has the most beautiful balance across the strings. Clearly, this depends on your playing style, and the strings you choose to use. On this instrument i use "rectified-lightly polished bass" strings. While they may not last as long as unpolished strings, the sound they produce is well worth the extra expense and restringing. I can best describe the sounds from this guitar/string combination as lyrical, poetic, and warmly human. No string requires compensation while playing, not even the intrusive G, as this is not clear nylon, but has a mixture of another compound to help "tame" this unruly member.The frets are nearly perfect, with only one area near the sound hole on the low E and A, that is rarely played by anybody, though I will have it remedied eventually. The neck is straight, fingerboard true ebony, and the saddle was perfect out of the box at 2.5 mm and 3. mm clearance at the 12th fret on the 1st and 6th strings. At this low string height, I do have to be sure that strings are constantly tuned up to avoid any buzzing, but that is a small price to pay for such fine and easy play ability.It is so gratifying to find a product that meets its billing, and the stated philosophy of Cordoba's CEO to "bring fine guitars within everybody's reach." That is absolutely true of this guitar, as the first entry into a true classical guitar it proves to be worthy of far more than its cost.Kudos must be extended to zZounds as well for their "pay and play" plan which makes such a great instrument available to mere mortals. Now that I've played this guitar, the cost has become irrelevant.Finally, the most ineffable feature of this guitar only becomes apparent when you play, especially during soft passages, as you pay attention to the celestial aroma of cedar wafting through your consciousness. I do like the sound of spruce-top guitars, but find that most are stuck in "bright to brighter" tones, and they cannot come down to a warm fireplace beside a beautiful guitar played for a beloved wife. This is an inexpensive, decent-quality, full-size classical style of guitar that's aimed at getting more people to play guitar by addressing the more frequent complaints as to why they don't – hurt fingers from no callouses or too small hands or hand fatigue or arthritis or injuries, etc. Steel-string acoustic guitars require a level of hand and fingertip pain for a fair amount of time before any gains are noticed. That's probably why so many people become turned off to playing them. Epiphone shrewdly addressed that with this series of easy-to-play guitars. This is not a classical guitar that's designed for use by professional musicians, on stage or for learning serious classical styles but rather a full-size guitar that encourages more people to learn to play one or for guitarists to just have fun with sitting on the couch, songwriting, learning new songs, etc. And, given its low price, few if any tears might be shed should it one day get lost, stolen or damaged. The 1.75" width nut gives fingers – short, weak, thick or hurt – a bit more room to maneuver on the lower portion of the neck without the unwanted rubbing of adjacent strings and the lower tension strings it comes strung with make fretting clean sounds much easier without hard pressing, squeaks or buzz. This additional room is helpful for learning finger-picking, too. The two strap buttons, although not typical of a classical guitar, are a nice feature as they add greater flexibility for the guitarist as to how he or she prefers to play it. The sound is clean, I'd say very good, and although I'm surely no classical guitarist, this PRO-1 is what it is and what it was designed to be – an easy to hold, easy to play, affordable guitar that should encourage more people to play in spite of hand size, age, injury, physical limitations, etc. While there are many 3/4 size classical guitars out there that also offer easier playing, this Epiphone PRO-1 is a full size model that does the same at a great price.Old guy with a new guitar
When shopping for a first guitar for your child (or yourself) it's confusing. The sales staff will usually direct you to the solid top Yamaha FG or FS series. Tone and quality wise, those are great guitars but they also come out of the box in need of a good setup to be playable up the neck. With the PRO-1 line, Epiphone has worked hard to deliver a reasonable factory setup on one of their most inexpensive models. I can not overstate the benefit this brings to the player! A few other things that stand out for this price range: We also get NuBone nut and saddle on all pro-1 models (this is the material Taylor and other top of the line builders use on their models). The NuBone nut makes a big difference in tone. Also it's a short scale which I think makes it easier to play, the neck is a slip D profile which makes it easy to get your hand around. Tuners at 18:1 ratio not 14:1, that's a first for a guitar in this price range and you get a humidifier and free lessons. If you play the least expensive PRO-1 model against anything in the budget acoustic room at Guitar Center (for those floor plans that separate budget from high end) you notice it's easier to play than anything else…. There is a solid-top version that comes with electronics if you must have a solid top, the truth is having a solid top is overrated on most budget guitars. All solid wood construction does sound different, but when you mix a solid top with the laminated back and sides, it's just hit and miss. If you stick with playing your first guitar won't be your last, and you're more likely to keep playing if you have an instrument that sounds good that is also very easy to play. For that the PRO-1 is your best bet right now.Jeremy
For the price this is a very nice sounding and playing guitar. I have owned higher end acoustic guitars in the past, and just needed something to do some occasional acoustic recording and playing when friends came by. It isn't quite up to the Takamine that I had (but it was also well over 10x the price of this one!), but it sounds great! I did swap out the strings, but that's to be expected. Overall, it is a good looking and nice playing/sounding guitar for a very, very reasonable price.Dave

If you're an electric player wanting to try a nylon electric, this is a good guitar to get started on. The nut isn't as wide as a traditional classical guitar and the fretboard is radiused. The controls are also in a more traditional location for electric players so you can still do your volume sweeps and such. In terms of the downsides (from an electric player point of view), the nut is a little high. The one I have measures 3.1 mm at the 12th fret, but the saddle can be sanded down a bit if needed. I wouldn't go too low though because nylons tend to vibrate more than steel strings. Another downside is that classical roundwound nylons are very noisy. The squeak can be very loud, especially when amplified. Also, polished strings (akin to flatwounds on electric) can be very expensive. Overall, it's a great guitar and it's not too expensive. It's less than the current Godin offerings and will more than likely be less expensive than a Tim Henson signature nylon from Ibanez. Also, it may not be for traditional classical players – the advantages I listed as pros for electric players may not be to the liking of more traditional players.Stan
50 yr Pro. I have owned several high dollar guitars throughout the years and this one excited me the first time I plugged it in! It plays like butter and is very comfortable. I wasn't concerned about just acoustic sound because I am always plugged in. It's not acoustically loud but is sufficient for practice. However, when you plug it in it's in another realm. What a marvelous guitar. I came across this guitar by accident but I am so glad I did. My aging keft hand appreciates the slightly thinner neck compared to most nylon strung guitars. The EQ and blend controls allow for subtle nuisances intone to be dialed in. It amplifies beautifully and is surprisingly loud played acoustically. Im only playing a couple songs on acoustic with my band so I bought this to save wear and tear on my "good" acoustic. you can crank it up without fear of feedback. although it doesn't play or sound as good, its a fair trade off. it is what it is and it performs as I expect.kensoftail
It's a nice looking guitar, solidly built. Pros: Sounds fantastic plugged in, the finish work on the neck is decent for the price range and looks very classy in the gold and black with white binding. The headphone switch is great, wish it had a little built in reverb though. Cons: It only comes with one strap button in the back, you have to add another one to the uppermost curve by the neck if you want to play it standing up. Nobody is going to use one of those stupid acoustic straps that tie on the headstock with this guitar. The nut needs finish work, it comes very high and makes the strings go sharp when you try to play a G to a D. File the nut grooves down and it plays pretty good. It's a little on the heavy side even though it's a chambered body. The fret ends stick out and are sharp, you need t file those down yourself or you'll cut your hand up sliding down the neck. Personal preference, the neck is a bit thick, and I wish it wasn't a painted neck since it slows you down. All in all it's a pretty good deal for the price.rockingjon

The alvarez cadiz classical armrest acoustic-electric guitar evolved from an intense study of some of the worlds great spanish luthiers such as ramirez and torres. everything about them is carefully considered and purposefully chosen. the body shape is slightly taller, narrower, and more elegant than past alvarez classicals. the soundbox is more lightly built, with graduated tops, and each brace is custom cut and sanded with 4 varying widths in total. the bracing design gives a slight nod to jose ramirez iii's asymmetric architecture in the fact that the cadiz guitars have a treble bar. this helps to stiffen up the treble side of the top a little more, which helps give these guitars a very round, bell like treble response on the first three strings. alvarez keeps the bass side of the top light by using slightly thinner braces, which contribute to its very open, clear and strong bass response. unlike traditional classical guitars, the hybrid models do have a trussrod to allow for relief to be adjusted on the radiused fingerboards. cadiz models are also made with a spanish heel neck joint. ramirez and other great luthiers also influenced alvarez when it came to choosing their scale length. the cadiz scale length is longer than the standard 650mm (25.6") you will find on many classical guitars. at 662mm (26.06"), this scale length raises the tension a bit, which helps deliver more energy into the soundbox for better response and projection.

When I went shopping for an upgraded acoustic steel string, I had no idea that my favorite guitar I picked up would end up being a classical hybrid. I had never played a nylon string guitar. I kept coming back to this amazing Alvarez in the store, and had a huge smile on my face every time I played it. It is so comfortable, and the sound is so lovely. I can't quite believe they could build a guitar of this quality for the price, the build and finish are excellent, what you would expect on a guitar costing far more than this. In usage, the neck has the same width as a standard classical but the depth of a steel string, coupled with the thinner body and light weight it makes this guitar extremely comfortable to play. The sound /tonal quality is also excellent, though perhaps due to the thinner body it is "quite" compared to standard classical, this was easily resolved by fitting carbon strings. The only real criticism is there is no dot at the twelfth fret and with the longer neck it can take a bit of getting used to if you are a novice player Overall this is an exceptional guitar for the price, novice or professional, this guitar has something for everyone.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
Overall: You've read reviews by guys who have been playing 40 years and owned every imaginable alternative to the guitar in the ad. Yep, I'm that guy. And this Alvarez CC7CE blows away every other guitar in its category. The tone is balanced, vibrant and responsive, never tubby. Fit and finish flawless. And right out of the box it is the best factory set up on a nylon string I've seen (3mm at the 12th fret, .090 at the first fret, 10mm at the bridge). I did smooth and polish a couple of fret ends and degloss the neck. But Alvarez has done their research and the slightly longer 660mm scale, thinner top and Ramirez-style bracing sing with D'Addario hard tension strings. Very glad I pulled the trigger on this beauty!Mark

I have been playing classical since age 12, I am now 72. I have found this instrument to be most comfortable and responsive to my needs. I still have my first guitar that was purchased by my parents in 1954. As I play for my own pleasure and an occasional recital, I have found much satisfaction with this product. My son gave it to me 2 years ago for a birthday present. This instrument "fits" me perfectly. The neck is of perfect dimension for my left hand and fingers. As I transitioned from my first guitar to this one, I found it to be so comfortable. As I do not use much, if any, amplification, it is nice for large rooms like church buildings or recitals. Overall: This was my first time ordering from zZounds. I wanted a cheap nylon string to play around the house and Ibanez makes decent low cost guitars. The guitar showed up and the box looked to be opened previously, the tape was cut. I immediate noticed the fretboard was extremely dry, to the point that the radius of the fretboard was concave, not flat, it had cracks, and all of the fret ends on low E side and high E side were sticking way out. I boxed it right back up and sent it back the next day. I'm no stranger to working on guitars but this was not worth the effort. Too bad, the guitar itself sounded decent but I highly suspect this guitar was stored in a poor environment hence why the fretboard was severely dried out and the radius of the board literally changed shape.Customer service etiquette was lacking as well but I got a refund. If you buy anything from this place, a bit of advice, use PayPal, as I did. The refund process seems to move faster if you report an issue via PayPal.
I have several classical guitars, and this was the least expensive. It has become my go-to guitar for gigging, including a few spots for TV. At home, this Ibanez is the one that was always out of the case on a stand, ready to pick up whenever. So it became comfortable, but then noticeably reliable. It stays in tune. The electronics sound better than the Fishman on another that I have, particularly the bass response. The tuners (particularly the low E) have withstood routine changes to drop D a few times while playing, without obvious sign of wear. When I first started gigging I used another great sounding guitar but then changed to the Ibanez to protect the other(s) from bumps, weather, people, and other hazards. If something terrible happened to my guitar collection, probably the first replacement might be this Ibanez.Tim - ATL

OK, I got mine 5 or 6 years ago, because my arthritis was making steel string acoustics too difficult. The slightly wider neck and nylon strings have extended my career. I use it two ways, first, it's great for solo work, fingerstyle. I also play it with a pick, for jazzy and Willie Nelson country style. There's little feedback at normal volume, and it has a great tone. Just played out with it, and got many compliments on the sound.TGB
The picture on the AMS website doesn’t do the guitar justice, as it’s much more beautiful than that! The tuners are typical Godin proprietary, as they look good, and are smooth and stable in operation. I play with many alternative tunings, and am very happy with their smooth use. When running straight through my Roland Jazz Chorus 40, I can get any sound I expect from it. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get a GR-55 soon to experiment with all the synth sounds! With the exception of the heavy total weight, this guitar is perfect for my use.John K.
I've been Jonesin' for a nylon string guitar to add to my arsenal. I tried several, but the thing that I kept coming back to was the intonation issues inherent in a traditional design. So, I started looking for a nylon string that had different compensation on the saddle pieces. I came across this Godin, and since I already have two 13-pin synth access guitars, this seemed like a perfect match. When it arrived, I was surprised to find that it's actually a solid body guitar with some chambering. I mean, I knew it was a slim body, but I thought it was a slim hollow body. In retrospect, this has some advantages and some disadvantages… First of all, this is NOT the guitar that you're going to grab to sit around the campfire with your friends. It's as loud as a normal electric guitar that's not plugged in. The advantage, of course, is that you can jack this up as loud as you please in performance without worrying about body howl type feedback.Doug

The Córdoba GK Studio Negra is a rare gem among acoustic classical guitars. Once you hold it and hear the incredible tones it offers your ears, you not want to put it down. Pure ear candy that plays like soft golden butter as you easily slide your fingers on the fretboard and bend the strings. After playing many other acoustic and classical guitars over the years as a professional musician, the GK Studio Negra was ‘the one’ I’d been searching for. It just feels good and the woods are so well balanced not only in tones but beautifully designed. It’s truly a work of art and has much character. The value is unbelievable for what you get because this remarkable guitar plays and has the appearance of one three times it’s cost. This was my upgrade from a Lucero 150se and what a difference it made. In terms of playability there's no comparison, the Cordoba is superior in every way. Start with the tuners/nut which are perfectly smooth allowing you to make small adjustments even on steel strings. Playing the Cordoba is simply easier and there were things I could not do well on the Lucero due to the thickness of the wood neck. Mind you I'm not talking about the nut width which is 50mm on both, I'm talking the actual thickness of the wood neck itself below the fret board. The slimmer profile of the Cordoba meant reaching certain chords easier, changing chords faster, and giving my hands the ability to put pressure when needed. The factory strings on the Cordoba appear to be superior as well although I would still upgrade them if you can afford it; the steel strings on the Lucero wore out at about 85hrs. No fret noise of any kind on the Cordoba (so long as you play the chord right) whereas on the Lucero I would get buzzing on frets 5 & 6 from both 5th and 4th strings with anything other than light strumming, even with perfect finger placement. The sound of the Cordoba is more sharp, crisp, and clear than the Lucero. My only con is that the shallower body does create a slightly more "twangy" sound than I'm used to but its a negligible difference I quickly settled with in exchange for the other qualities. You get what you pay for. This is a very solid guitar for the price. I would recommend nothing less for serious beginners.Joe T
This guitar is great. I've had no real qualms with it so far, albeit I've only had it since April 1st. I used to play about a decade ago, but life happened and I stopped playing consistently. I bought a Jasmine S34-C about a month back to start up playing again, but it didn't revitalize my love for guitar quite like this one did. I had only played an acoustic before up until I picked up this GK Studio. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it. The ebony/gold tuning keys look very refined and the guitars "negra" or black style looks sooooo good. The contrast between the lighter and darker colors does a lot for me. The sound(for me) is just right. Not too soft, but not excessively punchy. I am not someone to perform at gigs as I've only ever played at home, but this guitar definitely has made me want to give it my all and try new things! When things finally get back to 100% here in the states I'll be giving this guitar a shot at a few spots. I've seen a few reviews online that suggest that this is a great gig guitar as well and has a great sound when plugged in so I can't wait to try that out even more so! The only (minor)thing I can think of that I would call a "con" is the Fishman tuner built onto the side of the guitar. I have not had a chance to test out the different options when it is plugged into an amp, but the on-hand guitar tuner setting can be a bit fidgety at times. Its not anything severe as I usually just tune by ear, but I personally only use it for a guide to get back to standard when I'm done messing about with other alt. tunings. I wouldn't say it docks a star from this review, but its just something to look out for if anyone is wondering about it.Ruben S

I have played guitars in this price range and have never been impressed until this guitar came out. I played it because I know Yamaha will not put their name on just anything. Wow was I amazed! My first guitar, which brand shall go unmentioned, was priced around $330-350. No way did it even come close to the warmth of the low strings or the snappy nylon sound of the high strings like this one does. I have several guitars of diffent styles but was lacking a nylon acoustic. I wanted to study some classical and flamenco music. I didn't want to make a huge purchase on something I wasn't going to get extremely invested in, so my guitar teacher recommended the Yamaha C40 Gigmaker. It is perfect! It's been several months now and still plays and sounds great. An amazing value for the dollar. So every now and again when I get the itch, it's there and ready for me.
