Reviews:
Just took delivery of a used Hofner shorty bass in black. Lovely instrument. Fit and finish was fine. I had to do a little bit of intonation setting which took no time. The neck is better than expected. Frets are finished properly and the neck has a nice satin finish. Its not to wide, not too thick and feels great. The pickup delivers and even sound across the strings. There are no dead spots. Volume and tone controls work great and the knurled knobs feel very good. I was able to dial in some of my preferred sounds using the VPF control on my Markbass Blackline 250 going through a Markbass NY604 cabinet. I was also liking the sounds going through an Eden World Tour preamp. Im looking forward to rehearsal tomorrow using the Eden directly into an EV ZLX 12 powered cabinet. The bass came professionally packed and really appeared to be new. Love the padded Hofner gig bad with the logo on it. All in all a great small, inexpensive (but not cheap) bass for practice, performance and especially travel.Miguel404
First of all, this bass is just what I wanted for practicing when traveling. Compact, 24 frets, decent electronics and comes with a gig bag. Intonation was pretty good too. I did adjust the intonation, but that's really only because I'm kind of fussy about intonation. One thing I will say is I had never experienced "neck dive" until I owned this bass like. in the resting position, the bass headstock will point right down to 5 o'clock. Since this is a practice instrument, I made some modifications. I put weight in the body cavity, but the body cavity is not huge, so with extra weight, I could get the neck to hang in the resting position at about 3 o'clock. I next removed the front strap pin and drilled a 3/8" in diameter hole 2" into the body at the same angle as the strap pin screw. I purchased 3/8" aluminum round stock and cut it to 7.5". 2" would insert into the body and 5.5" would remain outside to mount the strap button while extending out to nearly the 12th fret. I painted the round stock black (primer and paint). I mounted (drilled and epoxied) the strap button on the end of the round stock. I think epoxied the extender into the body. It looks pretty darned good and now the bass balances perfectly.Kevin1014
I have to say I’m so impressed with my new Hofner Shorty ct Bass. I’m used to gigging for years with Monster weighted P basses so the Shorty is such a relief. …. Like Air. Because body is so small it does allow this neck dip everyone cites but with a strap and playing on stage it’s not a problem. The quality and finish is flawless and was Lucy to get a Rosewood neck on mine not one of those horrible Jotoba Cites ones (Though fully understand we have to save planet somehow). The guitar sounds like any Bass circa £300-£500 bass and means you can leave your Musicman and Fenders at home in Studio. Great for touring Bassists who just want easy gigging experience. Well done Hofner!

Reviews:
Okay this product is good. The pickup is fine and it's a great amount of fun. BUT: The fret work is terrible. Really. They stick out of the neck, and it feels like playing with sandpaper on your fingers. Terrible rash after half an hour of playing, still has not worn off. Also the action is really bad and the second fret is buzzing like crazy on mine. I need to get that fixed, but I hoped to get it working right off the box as I am travelling a lot and don't have time to take care of my guitars (which is why I took this one). Overall if the item and the object is really fun and smart and cool (you really get that "cool" factor when playing live and people notice and start laughing at your baby-sized guitar. Also includes a "cute" factor for those who are into that.) But the quality is really poor and needs quite a bit of work to be really useful without cutting your hand. Also a mild annoyance, but the headstock is not blue. I selected this one because the picture showed a blue headstock and it looked cooler than the black one. I got the black one. Minor annoyance, still an annoyance. I would not make this choice again I think, or be prepared to go to the guitar store and invest an additional 100 dollars in fret work and proper setting.pauwohre_0
I purchased this guitar a few years ago and it is my go-to ever since whether I am at home or while traveling. I have rather small hands and not very good stretch so it makes playing my other guitars rather painful after an extended period of time. I like playing this guitar because even though it has a full scale fretboard, everything just feels smaller in my hands when I play it. The width of the neck is smaller than my other guitars makes it easier for me to reach and my hands don't get as fatigued as easily. The sound is great! I only play for fun and have a small 100W amp but it sounds excellent no matter whether I'm playing metal or jazz. The only problem I have with it is there is a little bit of fret buzz when I am playing certain notes. It is not really a problem with the instrument itself. I ordered this by mail and never had it set up after it arrived. I am not comfortable doing it myself so I will have to take it into the store whenever I get the chance. I am sure that once I get it adjusted properly, I will have no problems with it. I love this little beast.Sordesco
A solid four stars. Travel guitars all have their limitations and this one is certainly no exception. But despite those limitations this instrument fulfilled its needs on a recent trip. Which is why I waited to write this review until after it was used for its intended function. It's size and weight were convenient for traveling through airports and overhead bins. It was durable despite being mashed by other carry on luggage. It was fun to play through Vox classic rock plug in amp with ear buds but difficult to stay in tune. Also used a basic leather strap with rough suede to compensate for awkward weight distribution. This kept the strap from sliding in that the guitar is neck heavy. All travel guitars like the Traveler series suffer the same malady. The Neck is straight as an arrow and the action is very good. Haven't changed the strings yet but the stop tailpiece is adjacent to the pickup which may make string changes difficult. All in all, I would not gig with this guitar but for the money it served its purpose preparing for a gig upon my return. A good value overall with some limitations.Rockinvet
8. Traveler Guitar Pro-Series – Antique Brown
Product Details:
October 92. the one that started it all. the pro-series represents traveler guitars original production model and remains a standard of innovation and design for travel guitars. the proprietary in-body tuning system uses standard tuning machines relocated into the body, eliminating the need for a headstock. as a result, youll have the same full-scale playing experience youre used to on an instrument thats 28% shorter and 64% lighter than a typical full size electric. the standard against which all travel guitars are measured if you have ever wanted to have both an acoustic and electric guitar in one, the pro-series is for you. it features a custom piezo pickup (like standard acoustic/acoustic electric guitars) and a single-coil electric pickup, so you can play a breadth of tones and styles with just one instrument. the 24 -inch scale neck-through body sounds great through acoustic and electric amplifiers, or through its unique internal resonant pickup system with the included stethophone headset, which allows for private listening without batteries or an amp. the lap rest is detachable for easy transport, so guitar and included gig bag fit easily in an airline overhead compartment.

Reviews:
I started taking lessons again after a long break. I bought this to take with me on my trips, as an airline pilot I'm on the road constantly. It's perfect to sit in my hotel and play, and the size makes it easy to travel with. The neck is a great size and the action right out of the box was perfect. I can plug in the headphone amp and play no matter what time of the day or night it is. I'm glad I picked this up.
I have always wanted a guitar small enough and rugged enough to take on deployments and military exercise. It is quiet enough to play in open bay barracks while others sleep, or I can tune out the clowns and play in my rack using the stethophone headset. This Pro-series Traveler Guitar is everything I was looking for. As a bonus it has already stood up to the beatings of my 3 year old son who broke my last guitar within 24 hours of purchase. I don't think I will ever need another guitar; but you know how it goes.
Ordered this because I do a lot of traveling for work and play. Hated taking my main guitars on any trip due to theft and damage risk. This beauty is just what the doctor ordered. I originally had Sweetwater put heavier electric strings on it to toughen up the sound. Big mistake. Changed the strings to light acoustic bronze ones from Elixir, and that made it nearly perfect! The stethophone is my favorite method of playing. The true acoustic sound is as huge as my Ovation Celebrity Elite, without the volume to disturb others. When I plug in a VOX headphone amp or other headphone, the pickup cranks out like a Strat on bridge position. When plugged into a serious amp, all doubts about this guitar's capabilities disappear immediately. The sound is everything any of my Strats or SGs can pump out, period. I would gladly play this axe in any situation. The quality is excellent. I have had it for about 4 years now, and I never travel without it. Even on a motorcycle trip, it can be easily carried in backpack mode or strapped to saddlebags. When strapped to the saddlebags, it does not interfere with riding in any way. Would give 10 stars if I could!

Reviews:
Great little guitar for grabbing on the fly, and playing without disturbing anyone, anytime, anyplace. Has enough adjustment to set up for good playability, and the build quality is good. The 4 internal amp modes are good enough to practice a variety of styles, albeit without any gain adjustment (only volume and tone). The only drawback so far is that it doesn't seem to allow for bypass of the amplifier to get a natural analog signal out to a separate amp or other interface. It seems to require the powered internal amp at all times, even in the "bypass/clean" setting. Removing the batteries kills the output signal altogether, even in the "bypass/clean" setting, which I expected to default to passive electronics. This is majorly disappointing since the noise picked up through the small internal amp is always injected into the signal no matter what. They need to add a bypass switch which allows for passive operation when desired or necessary. Don't run out of batteries at your gig!
I wanted something small, not so much for travel but for playing around the house. My main requirements were that it was comfortable to play seated, well balanced without a strap, and small enough to play on the couch. The headphone preamp was the main feature that made me decide on this model over the others. Turns out it's actually comfortable to play seated, and an unexpected bonus is not having the headstock, I can set it down pretty much anywhere without worrying about knocking it out of tune. I also find the tuners to be more convenient than the normal arrangement, since I can pluck a string with my right hand then turn the tuning peg without going anywhere. The frets all look good, no cosmetic issues anywhere. I seem to be getting just a bit of fret buzz on the 4th string around 5, but I'll wait a few weeks to see if that changes with the environment. Oh, and when playing on the overdrive or distortion settings, the sustain is just unreal, I wasn't expecting much for the size. Bonus is it's small enough I think I may be able to play it in the passenger seat on road trips when the wife takes turns driving!
Bought an EG-1 custom at Guitar Center. Got it home, plugged the headphones in and was pleasantly surprised. Then… plugged in the Amp and though WOW!! This little guy is on point. The fit & finish, tone, features & initial setup were impressive. It's PERFECT for what I needed. I'll enjoy being able to tote this around & also put in carry-on with me. Excellent Job Traveler, It's evident… ya'll take pride in your build quality.

Incredible instrument….so rewarding playing and owning something actually built by human hands. Gorgeous finish and great feel.Ian
I just love the weight and tone of this bass. I bought my 1st one in 1964 and have had several others since. The only minus is that it is so connected to Paul it doesn't look as cool with other players. The tone and ease of playing make up for the McCartney cool factor. Would recomend for anyone who wants a bass that sounds great and is easy to play………Rivets
owning the Hofner is a dream come true, especially the Vintage 1962. I also have an an Ignition, Union Jack, which I purchased last year. I use the Ignition when I go to my lessons and if we are playing outside. My Vintage 1962 I also use practicing at home or when I play inside or with the church group.

the guitar is excellent .every thing about this guitar is that it is the design and the sound is really goodsm-5669
Well the name really says it all…VeryThin. It is approximately the same width and length of a 335 or Casino buy much thinner. This makes it fit much more comfortably, especially when sitting. The pickups sound great through my Epiphone Valve Jr cab and speaker as well as through my ZT lunch bucket amp. Finish is great and the action was well set from the factory. This would make a great addition to any collecti9n and should be seriously considered when looking for a semi-hollow body.yoda133
So far fairly happy with this purchase. The input jack initially had a loose connection causing the signal to cut out if the lead was jiggled. I've tightened the nut and the problem seems to be fixed for now. Wiring issues would require specialist attention as they are rather inaccessible.djaichai

I am enjoying the bass. I started playing it right out of the box. I assumed I would play it for a few days, then have it set up. But after playing it for a while, it may not even need a set-up. Glad I found it.whiskeyjackstudio

Reviews:
The perfect travel guitar, great for working out tunes, busking, small jams without having to set up or carry an amp but becomes an awesome guitar when you get that moment when you can plug into an amp…..just one thing tho, the supplied strings are not great and I'm not fused about the case either. Change the strings asap for a great sounding and improve playability. Enjoy.David S.
Great guitar ! Fun to play ! Very happy ! Thank you very much !weet-bix2000-4
Nut made out of chewing gum. No adjustment available on the neck so unable to set neck relief. High E struggled to be heard over the other strings even when adjusted. Inbuilt speaker sounds like any other 9v practice amp… 50/50 good sounding/bad sounding. Short scale length a bit narrow for large handed players. Apart from all that.. if you were to spend some money and time on it sorting what you could and adding a few upgrades it would make a great grab and go guitar… they come in a great range of colours and are really fun… but out the box they are disappointing. Been playing 46 years. I love this. Well worth the moneyplanet--d
Light and very unique looking. It has a regal appearance not to mention a rich sound. I'm glad I purchased it.maatw-62
This guitar looks great & plays well. The only downside is the pickups have a rather loud buzz to them. I understand the single coil noise but I thought these were humbuckers. Regardless, it looks cool & plays well.africamissionary
15. Traveler Guitar Ultra-Light Electric Travel Midnight Black
Product Details:
The ultra-light electric travel guitar is the smallest, lightest full-scale electric travel guitar from traveler guitars. the proprietary in-body tuning system uses standard tuning machines relocated into the body to create a guitar that has a full-scale neck, yet is substantially shorter than full-size electrics. the lack of a headstock and a small, ergonomic body allow the guitar to be 28% shorter and 68% lighter than a full-size electric, all while preserving the same full-scale playing experience youre used to. complete with a high-output dual-rail humbucker (midnight black version has a duncan invader style single-coil pickup) and a standard 1/4 inch output you can plug this directly into your favorite amp or recording device. the guitar weighs just over three pounds and is only 28 inch long, so it can go where you go. the lap rest can be stowed for storage and transportation, allowing the guitar to fit easily in an airline overhead compartment in the included gig bag. the traveler guitar ultra-light traveler electric guitar is the perfect solution for traveling players unwilling to compromise on scale length, but still looking for the smallest and lightest solution available.
Reviews:
Im really digging this guitar. I needed a travel guitar for some upcoming trips and went through the rungs. Tried the martin backpacker and traveler rm sp, but neither met my needs. The martin limits you to 15 frets and the rm sp wasnt that much smaller than my Taylor GS mini. Weve got a young one and traveling with him brings a whole slew of extra things that have to be included in a trip. My wife was not having us give up one of our carry-ons for a guitar and case. The ultra-light is perfect, and I can throw it in my back pack (in its case) with just a little of the neck hanging out. Thus, not having to give up a carry-on. Its perfect. Went with the electric too over the acoustic/electric version because of the tune-o-matic type bridge and saddles. Stellar product. Lastly, the size and sound unplugged are perfection for playing around on with others in the room and not bothering them. It actually makes me play more now.
I never knew why some guitarists have a favorite guitar and even name them. (I own several higher-end guitars and to me, they're just tools.) I purchased a black Traveler Ultra-Light some time in 2019 thinking it was a "cheapie" but good enough to stuff in an overhead bin of an airliner whenever I traveled. I was certainly impressed at how the guitar played and how well it was made, despite the low price. Since then it's been with me everywhere. But that's not how it came to be my favorite guitar. Last November I was hospitalized for 4 days. Because of Covid going around, I couldn't have visitors so I asked my wife to bring me my Traveler so I wouldn't be bored to death. That's when I fell in love with this little guitar. Because I had my own room and because my vitals were checked every hour, I spent a LOT of time playing. And because of its size and how light it was, I could play it in bed. AND it kept my mind off of what I was going through… a big plus for the road to recovery. Today, I purchased my second one in Torino Red and ordered some blacked-out locking tuners so I can keep it at my other place out of state. As for the black one, I'm not leaving that anywhere…. it's staying here with me!
I love this little guitar. I bought mine from the GC store. I have Taylor GS mini for my RV, but it's still too big and too loud in a small rv with others. I saw the Traveller guitars and thought I'd go to a GC and try it out. I'm too new at this so got the GC sales person to play so I could hear the difference using a big amp. The ones with the pickups were hot and a little bitey for me as I only really play acoustic. The Piezo pickup acoustic sounded mellow and it was on the guitarathon sale for 100 dollars off. That tipped it for me. It's small, extremely light and when unplugged, extremely quite quiet. It's so small, I'm finding that I pick up this one more than the regular guitars. Bear in mind, it's not acoustic or electric, so it's not going to sound like anything else. I bought a headphone amp and also use a regular amp when I can be loud. When practicing unplugged at night, it's loud enough for me, but nobody else can hear it. Also, I've found that if I press it tightly to my side, the lower notes reverberate in my chest. With the acoustic pickup there is no tone or volume controls, so everything has to be done through the amp. I'm getting used to that. With no body and only the wire bottom, it takes a little time before it begins to feel normal. The only negative is if I don't hit the notes perfect, I can get some fret buzz. All in all, it's so different from any other guitar, I would suggest trying it in person first. You will either love it or hate it. And remember it's a small travel guitar you can also use regularly. Play it both amplified and unplugged and see if you think it will work for you.Mike

Reviews:
This is an absolutely great guitar!! It's small size is deceptive but it sounds like a full size guitar 100%. I have the black one and it is super easy and convenient to take around and get some practice in when a full size guitar is not practical. The way the designer scaled everything down, it doesn't feel weird going between a full size and this one. I took mine on vacation and have used it as an extra layer when tracking guitars during recording. Also, it is great for little people, young players, or players with smaller hands. Highly recommend!!Rendez, P
In general the Guitar is nice the only issues I have with this Guitar is the fret sprout is terrible, like shred your fingers bad. I was disappointed greatly by this. A guitar at this price point should have a better quality neck and finish. I have no issues with the quality of the rest of the guitar. I own other brand traveler guitars and the necks on the others are better. Improve the finish work on the necks and you will have a good product. Samiamyourhandyman
It’s very small but plays true. Good components and very well put together. Holds tuning. Lovely neck. And…. Very pretty to my eyes. Am chuffed to bits with it.Amitava K.
