This is the 3rd action gauge I've purchased, after returning the first two because they were inaccurate. This gauge is accurate and feels solid. My only gripe is what appears to be a typo on the back of the gauge, 'guitar' is spelt 'giutar' three times. The measurements are also etched into the steel, unlike the other gauges where they were printed on. 10 seems steep for a bit it steel with some measurements etched into it, but after trying to cheap out and getting a faulty gauge twice I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this.axdx9x

I have a couple of these d'Addario gauges and they are accurate and easy to use. Some of the cheaper brands that you find on the internet often have rulers that do not line up with the edges or the printed lines are not clear or straight. I've never had problems with d'Addario.Ken

The only thing puzzleine me is why is it more money for the vintage tree with onw metal spacer and one nylon spacer and on tree, than the pack which I bough that has two trees and two metal spacers? i also thought that the screws provided are longer than what i remember my 56 strat or even the screws from the 60's were. made it harder to instal. I drilled it with a 1/16 drill but one be careful not to go to deep but you have to go deep enough of you can't screw it in tight. otherwise it works just fine.Mike

If you look in any guitar tech's toolbox you will undoubtedly find two tools that are used in almost every setup and repair – a fret rocker and a string height gauge. the fret rocker is used to identify high frets that are preventing the string action from being set as low as possible. the string height gauge is used to make sure the action is set as accurately as possible based on the player's preferences. what about quality you ask??? to ensure our tools are the most accurate on the market, skyscraper guitars' fret rockers are cnc milled (not water, plasma or laser cut) out of aircraft grade aluminum. the edges are then hand lapped through 4 grits of abrasive on a machinist's precision surface plate. the resulting tool has edges that are within .0005" over 12". this is a microscopic level of precision that results in accurately detecting imperfect frets. once the edges are perfectly flat, our fret rockers then undergo a hard anodizing process that ensures they will provide a lifetime of service in the hands of any discerning guitar player, repair tech or custom builder. if you want uncompromised quality, this is the tool for you.
