Reviews:
Had my reservations about buying this, a cheap headphone amp, as I have had others in the past and the o/d or distortion always sound awful. Don't get me wrong it isn't replacing my Marshall amp, but for a really portable and handy headphone amp it is great. I can use this, and move, whilst the kids are in bed, no more having to be 2 mtrs from my big amp….. As a practice and experimenting tool I love this!gastall1978
2. Blackstar Amplug2 Fly Headphone Guitar Amp
Product Details:
The blackstar amplug2 fly guitar headphone amp is the perfect silent practice solution for any guitarist. battery-powered, these headphone amps are super compact allowing you to carry real blackstar tone wherever you go, perfect for when inspiration strikes. on the fly there are three channels on the amplug2 fly guitar with clean, crunch and lead tones. each has the tone shaping capabilities offered by blackstar's patented isf feature to ensure you have every sound you need. the clean chimes nicely and has a warm break-up when pushed, the crunch has a classic tone 'hot-rodded' with clarity and definition and finally the lead setting gives you a harmonically-rich, mid-boosted overdrive that's great for heavy riffing and lead playing. infinite shape feature this patented technology allows you to sculpt your sound to the exact tonal signature you prefer. at it's lowest setting, isf allows for an 'american' characteristic with a tight bottom-end and aggressive mid-range tones. turn it higher and you get the quintessential 'british' sound characteristic, less aggressive and more 'woody'. nine built-in effects can be selected on any channel, with three each of chorus, delay and reverb, great for adding texture to your tone when practicing. anytime, anywhere the amplug2 fly has a foldable input jack that rotates 180 degrees, ensure it will fit into any guitar body type. with 17 hours of play time from two aaa batteries you can play for longer and the handy auto power-off feature means that after 30 minutes of no signal the unit will automatically turn itself off. the blackstar amplug2 fly guitar headphone amp is a fantastic little unit that will suit the newbie guitarist wanting to play late into the night, or the veteran player looking to warm up backstage or flesh out ideas in between shows.
Reviews:
So I am writing this review after using it for a week straight and my conclusion is this: great sound for your buck. I've been reading some of these negative reviews and it's unbelievable that these reviews leave you thinking that this device should sound and act like a $500 amp but in all reality it is not. It's a practice amp used for those situations where noise level is an issue. It has great tones and great effects. Yes it's very limited, but you're not locked in to any one tone. Roll of on the gain and you have some Texas blues tones. As for the effects, they are good. Not the best, but good. If you're looking to jam out and practice your chops just get it. Don't listen to those negative reviews.
Seems as well built as the other options I've seen. Better tonal range than Vox and better than having to buy 2 or three devices. First impressions were not that good but as I've used it a bit more I can see me getting more used to it. I probably expected to much and was basing my hopes on the FLY amps. I think the effects are too limited to be worthwhile and would prefer Blackstar to focus on better amp tone. Still, I'm happy with it and for the type of device this is I know of nothing that sounds better. If I lost it I would probably look at the latest options but as it stands this is still the one I would buy. I think all of this type of device are over priced when you consider what a small amp costs but for portable practice in a small space it can't be beaten. This Blackstar amplug is in my opinion the best VFM option available.Paul S.
Amazing bit of kit for the price! Clean, over drive and distortion channels in a small box the amps to headphones perfectly! Can’t really comment on the effects as not really tried them out! But if you need a tiny portable amp that connects to your headphone for practice i would throughly recommend! Just noticed it even has aux in so I can listen to my Fender tutors without having to have 2 different sets of headphones on the go!!! Total novice managed to get it working in 3 minutes without reading the instructions!Mike

Reviews:
I recently a BOSS Katana Artist MkII amplifier (which I have reviewed elsewhere) and love it. However, it is somewhat of a pain to connect my phone and studio headphones to it to do a little nighttime jamming – both of those require cables, which makes setup and teardown enough pain that I don't want to do it. When I heard of the WAZA-AIR, I found it is almost exactly a Katana in convenient headphone shape. To be clear, I love this thing. It sounds good enough that I will play it and it is a snap to get started. I traded a Fender Mustang Micro for the WAZA-AIR, and the two are not even in the same ballpark. To be fair, the Mustang is about a third the price, so I'm not surprised, but if you are struggling to get a good sound from a Mustang – and if you have the cash – the WAZA-AIR is likely to do what you need. The software and firmware are…finicky at times. There are a few oddities that I can't explain that differ from the Katana software. For instance, it appears that I cannot use both a Booster and the Modulation at the same time. I don't get that. I can still connect a wireless MIDI controller to the WAZA-AIR, and that might open up more possibilities. It's also another investment, and I'm still trying to determine if being able to hit a pedal is worth it. Overall, I do recommend the WAZA-AIR. It sounds great, the convenience can't be beaten, and it is just very solid and feels right. There are a couple of strange parts that – so far – do not detract enough from the experience for me to try to change them. If you are reading this now, I recommend you give it a try. You'll probably be impressed.Robert
I have both the Waza Air Guitar and Waza Air Bass and like them both. The headphones are comfortable and it's great to be wireless. Like others have mentioned, I do lose the Bluetooth signal from the transmitter to the headphones every now and then, but it isn't too bad. The intermittent loss of Bluetooth is easy to compensate for by just unplugging the transmitter from the cable jack, on either the guitar or bass, and re-plugging it in. Each time, when I first start using them, I'm careful to put the headphones on my coffee table, turn them on, and let them stay still for a little while, as not to confuse the gyros. They mention letting them stay still for a short while in the online information, and it seems to work, as I have not noticed the drifting others have mentioned. I do sometimes get a brief bit of static, but this is mostly on the Waza Air Bass set, and was possibly or partially due to some fret buzz I had before I got a good set up on the bass. The static might also occur a little bit more when the Bass is in active mode rather than a passive Bass mode. The thing I love about the Waza Air's is the ability to practice at all hours and not make too much sound that would bothering my neighbor. I've used the Mustang Micro guitar headphone amp, which is great too, but I like the cordless operation of the Waza Air. The Waza Air Bass is probably one of the few good solutions for headphones to use with a bass, as there aren't many other options. The Waza Air Guitar is a great solution for guitar, and though there are other options for guitar, so far I like using the Waza Air Guitar better. Since I have both the Bass and Guitar versions of the Waza Air I also have a total of two charge cables to charge both the transmitter and headphones at the same time, which I like. I mark the different components with a piece of Artist tape so I don't mix up the Guitar and Bass versions. I also am careful to charge each of the headphones with the correct original cable for each one. You cannot use the unit and charge it at the same time however. The transmitter often needs no charging after one use and seems to charge very quickly. The headphones take a little longer to charge and do not have as many hours of operation per charge as the transmitter. They say the headphones get about 5 hours of use per charge and the transmitter about 12 hours of use per charge. That said, I have never depleted the charge on either unit during one usage. I use my older standard Apple iPhone chargers (cubes with the green dots that are USB A connections) to charge the units, as they say not to use a rapid charger. Overall, I think both the Waza Air guitar and Waza Air Bass are great and I'm very happy I have them. They are a bit pricy, but not too bad, if you consider that you are getting a transmitter, a receiver, and headphones all included. Your experience might vary but I'm glad I got them, think they are great, and love practicing whenever I want.
I am not sure, but I don't think anyone has ever invented this. It's just headphones that connect to your electric guitar wirelessly, right? In fact, I was just thinking of this, before I discovered these on Sam Ash – because i was sitting there, tangled in headphone wires, guitar cables, and I wondered – can't somebody do this wirelessly? So I did a search, and voi la! Here's the other thing – inside the phones, it sounds like outside the phones. In other words, these are not JUST wireless guitar headphones – they are wireless amplifier headphones. The one thing I don't like – and maybe someone knows the answer – but, the controls, through the app, are pretty limited. Or at least, it's not like a amp modeler, like Spark. But then, Spark is not like Amplitube – actually models hundreds of real amplifier setups – from the real world. If the WAZA could pair up with something like Amplitube, it would be over the top.kronikole

Everything about this amp is so easy! Download the app, turn it on, connect and enjoy. Not a huge selection of amp models, but they are very solid, diverse and with all the fx available you can definitely key in the sound you want – on your smartphone screen. Wireless feature and battery life are both great.
I was impressed from the moment I hooked this small tabletop amp up. It’s got big sound for such a small package. The app is decent too, but could use some more songs to jam with. I think that overall this is a fun way to work on your music late at night or when the mood and inspiration hits. It’s loud, but not so much as it would bug any neighbors or house guests. I use it just as a Bluetooth speaker as well to jam out to my favorite tunes. I would highly recommend this little beast of an amp for its tight bass response and it’s amazing functionality. Cool AF!DJ Lewis
Good for busking and practice with nice tones. The wireless and drums are nice features . Good size for traveling and no need for outlet with rechargeable battery. The jam tracks and artist's songs are limited but you can stream any songs you want via Bluetooth. The price was reasonable as well.Doug

NUX Mighty Plug is a very cool gadget, easy-to-use and the phone/tablet, Android app is great for tweaking your guitars voice to the sound you desire, I have only had it for about 3 hours now and already very familiar with the Mighty Plug and the app. There are many reviews on YouTube that will teach you to use it in no time. The sound may not be 100% perfect but let's face it they have put a guitar amplifier and many effects on the end of a plug which isn't much bigger than a matchbox Worth the money I'm sure I'm going to have a lot of fun with itfnewbery
Great sound and easy edit from the phone app. Built it drums for practice/warmup. It also uses backing tracks but I haven't figured out how to have them play through the plug (they play in the phone). Also have another brand plug amp, this sound much better with added effects and multiple voicings. Rechargeable makes it better than my other battery unit. Could easily be a 5 star, except for the confusion with the backing track( not explained well) and possible longevity issues with the battery down the road.B.R.Williams

amazing value – wide range of soundsmovinghousehome
I use if for Bass guitar, far superior to Vox AmPlug MK 2 Bass and cheaper Bassment which both have a lot of background hiss (and poorer sound in my opinion), although it is move expensive. Takes a bit of getting used to having to use the App for settings etc but so much more versatile, check out the 'Mightier Amp' app as an alternative to the official 'Mighty Amp' app. Bluetooth connectivity for audio (jam tracks) a big plus. Design is good, when plugged in it is very unobtrusive and does not get in the way. I only use it for playing with headphones so can't comment on Audio Out/Recording features. Can't see me using Vox AmPlug Bass again!krisb372

Reviews:
What a great sounding mini amp. I've had to use headphone mini amps for the last 15 years due to time constraints and location of practice area. I didn't want to use the precious practice time I had just to set up full size amp for only an hour or so and then return everything back to storage area. It was so much simpler and convenient just to plug a mini amp into my guitar, put on head set and play. Down side was always the quality of the mini amps I was using. I was getting them for around half of what a vox cost.. I always wanted a vox but they were expensive. After joining mf rewards club and making several purchases I bought my vox for about half price by applying my points to the purchase. I should have never waited. This vox is 10 times better than the cheaper brands. As soon as I opened the packaging and held it in my hand I could feel the quality. When I first plugged it in and started playing I got really upset. Not at the mini amp but at myself for waiting so long. I highly recommend buying this mini amp. Trust me. It's really worth it and you'll be glad you did.Horn
I have enjoyed playing with this headphone amp quite a bit. It is lightweight, has a lot of features for the price and is easy to use. The one set back I have experienced, is that the plug in jack does not lock in a position, it has loosened with use. I can reccomend this type of amp for anyone who wants to practice with volume and effects that should not disturb others. I will likely purchase other styles of this headphone amp in the future.
Cannot praise this device highly enough. It sounds great, and is ridiculously versatile for such a small device, comprising not only Gain, Tone and Volume controls, together with three levels each of effects options Chorus, Delay and Reverb, but also Clean, Crunch and Lead. Two AAA batteries are required (included), and give hours of usage. Just plug it into your guitar, attach headphones (decent pair of over-ear type are best, but don't need to be expensive) and, if wishing to practice over a track by your favourite band, simply attach an appropriate device such as a tablet or 'phone. If you require to free your amPlug2 sound from the confines of headphones, Vox also offer a mini, 2 watt, amPlug2 amp/speaker to which you attach your amPlug2 and play out loud (but not loud enough to annoy the neighbours. The wonderful Vox 50 watt amp/cab stack Mini Superbeetle Audio blue tooth speaker also doubles as a guitar amp, complete with amPlug2 compatibility, but at full volume, this would definitely annoy the next door neighbours, and possibly those further afield. The amPlug has given me new found freedom to play and practice without needing to wait for opportunities where it can be done without audibly intruding on the personal space of others in the household. I have subsequently invested in the equally good Classic Rock amPlug2 (and which, on balance, I prefer), together with both the aforementioned Vox Mini amPlug2 cab/speaker and Superbeetle Audio blue tooth amp/speaker stack. Basically, the freedom afforded by the amPlug2 headphone amp has reinvigorated my love of guitar playing, and I try to squeeze in some practice time on a daily basis. I even felt enthused enough to unnecessarily treat myself to a new guitar. This amPlug2 is real value for money, but it has inadvertently cost me a small fortune.johnclark1954

Reviews:
The Vox AC30 G2 headphone amp is a fun piece of equipment. It is quite versatile in the sense that it has a line out, so you can record though your software, analog equipment or whatever you are using to record guitar. There are half a dozen built in guitar effects, which can be activated by pressing the FX button. The LED will light up a different color based on which effect is activated. This amp is powered by 2 AAA batteries. This amp sounds like the classic Vox AC30; it has a classic 60's and 70's British rock sound. So it's not gonna sound like an overdriven Marshall stack with that heavy mid guitar sound. It will get kind of a Brian May type of sound. This is a fun amp, and it is perfect for practicing quietly . The durability seems weak, it's lightweight plastic, so it will take time to evaluate the longevity of this headphone amp. But so far so good.tom
First off, I'm a dabbler and not a professional. I bought this so I could practice on my electric guitar without disturbing everyone else. For that purpose it is excellent. The package comes with a small instruction pamphlet which is tucked into the folded cardboard backing. It's easy to miss it. You need the instructions because it's not obvious how to operate the device without them. But the instructions are easy to download as a PDF from the manufacturer's website. You're not going to replace all your pedals with this inexpensive device but it does include an impressive array of built-in features such as tremolo, reverb, distortion, tone and (I haven't tried it) Rhythm. It does a great job of mixing the AUX input with the input from the instrument. I use it with my laptop and Band in a Box. Adjust the AUX level at its source (the laptop or player) to an acceptable level and then use the controls on the amPlug to adjust the volume of the instrument to your taste. Listening to the resultant sound through headphones is impressive.gixxernaut
If you want the straight up Brit Grit of the VOX AC30 this little device delivers great sounding tones. It sounds very good clean, and GREAT with gain added. The distortion from the gain is tight, very bluesy, and provides the crunch for classic rock. I have played an Epiphone 335, a Gibson SG, and Fender Strat through the device and each instruments sounded good. But, the amp really brings out the blues tomes on the Gibson and Fender. The amp gets LOUD, maybe too loud if you care about damaging your hearing. I like my music loud enough to hear it, feel it, and be inspired by it, and I can accomplish this with a minimal volume adjustment. There are three effect settings; tremolo, reverb, and delay, but they are basically useless to me because i don't use effects, and the effects cannot be adjusted to serve any useful, or musically desirable purpose. For example, a little bit of delay can be cool, but the delay on this device is enough to make you dizzy, and the same can be said for the tremolo function. Reverb too… who uses reverb anymore? I am a hard core blues and classic rock guy and I think reverb is dated… I am spoiled though, I play through Fender tube amps and bells and whistles are not really my thing. All i need is myself, my guitar and red hot tube amp and I am good to go. And the from this standpoint the VOX AC30 gets the job done very well. (It) is fragile and one must be careful handling (it) and the guitar while (it) is attached to avoid breaking (it), but if you are careful (it) is just fine. By the way, (it) connected to the guitars I mentioned earlier without any problems. If you want to jam like a mad man without bothering anyone, this is the device to get. It is good for clean guitar playing style, and for those who want to rock out. Not for heavy metal or thrash nonsense, but very good for solid blues and classic rock. Get one!Jim in the Box

2 issues with this product. 1. The app that can be used on iOS and android is a bit buggy. I think it is way more buggy for ios users specifically. The major IOS issue is getting the app to connect to the device in iOS. That took a lot of work and trickery. When used on my android the app seems to work ok. Manufacturer doesn't seem to be updating the app. You can get the app functions to work still but it require some persistence of tweaking and figuring out where the app bugs occur. BUT you don't need the app for the device to function. The app is just for extra features 2. EQ/effects doesn't work for LDAC or USB dac mode. my guess is because it would require more processing power to process high quality sound and take away from battery life. Other then those 2 issues mentioned. It is a great device. Sounds great to me especially when your able to get the eq to work. The eq is 10band and has a custom option with sliders. Also other sound processing options within the app if you are able to get it to work in iOS. One of my tricks to configure the eq in an android device first and then connect to iOS then the device will be using the same settings if you were unable to get the app to connect to iOS. This is my second one because I lost the other one.Adio
Most of us take zoom calls or google meet, btr5 works the way it should there, no problems. But with android phones, on normal or whatsapp calls, call volume is very low. This issue is still persistant from 2020. I have two btr5 2021, one purchased in 2021 and one just now, both have very low volume for calls. It works great on google meet though, so I'm guessing, its a software problem that will never be fixed. If you look for only audio quality on bluetooth, its okayish, as usb dac its acceptably good (Though not even close to something like hip dac or that fiio dacamp of similar price) My fiio fh3 gets acceptably loud on calls as they have low impedence, high sensitivity of 114db, otherwise any other iem of high impedance would not be much audible while taking calls. For reference, my sennheiser hd598cs and hd660s can't be used for calls but are otherwise loud for music listening on btr5.ashish c.
Absolutely amazing nugget! After hearing about this stout DAC/AMP online, and finding a bargain deal on my first audiophile headphones (Senheiser HD650's) I figured I'd give this a go, as I didn't have a good DAC or amp. And honestly, I'm blown away. This nugget (which is WAY smaller than I thought it'd be!) Sounds outstanding with anything you plug into it, and even sounds great with my HD650. I'm just waiting on my balance cable to come from the US so I can test the balanced output, but I imagine it'll be just as outstanding as the rest of it. AND DID I MENTION. NOT ONLY IS IT A GREAT USB DAC/AMP. ITS ALSO BLUETOOTH. YOU CAN MAKE CALLS WIRELESSLY WITH HD650'S? Awesome, awesome machine, and a great first purchase, not just from addicted to audio, but an awesome entry to high quality audio gearAndrew V.

Reviews:
Been testing this DAC for the last 2 days. Connected my FIIO iEH with 2.5mm balanced input to this DAC. There is a significant improvement to the soundstage and the separation of instruments are quite noticeable. The sound is also well balanced, making listening for longer hours quite comfortable. Being portable means I can reserve my AK Kann for streaming hires audio to my amplifier 😄. I felt the audio quality almost matched the much expensive AK Kann. Also this can pair 2 mobiles at once which means I have the convenience of using both ios and Android. The android immediately selected AptX HD format on pairing. Just a note that the DCT option made a very subtle and not a very discrete change to the soundstage. Overall a very good experience, especially for this price.Rajesh N.
I was purchased the AK XB10 DAC in sale cost at 3k. At this price range i think this worth, so I consider it. After Using a weak I was writing the review. My Usage: 1. I was connected this DAC to my Moondrop Aria IEM. 2. I was listened the Audio files FLAC, ALAC, WAV, PCM in 16Bit and 24Bit. 3. The latency of the DAC is medium we can see videos but you can notice the audio is slow than the video. 4. In this DAC 2.5mm Balance port is the major plus, High Frequency response is nice, Channel seperation, Eliminate the cross talk and Total harmonic distortion will be less, it give best experience compare to the 3.5mm port. Specifications & Output: 1. It has SBC, AAC, APTX, APTX Hd, you can listen 24Bit 48KHz in APTX Hd Codec. 2. The 3.5mm Output is 0.9v & 2.5mm Output 1.8v. 3. It has built in Microphone, while using it you should keep close to you while speaking. Build & Design: 1. AK XB10 is a plastic build, but it look good. 2. It is very light weight and compact. Connectivity: 1. This ia a wireless DAC. 2. It has 4.1 bluetooth version, so range is poor, if you move out more than 6 foots from the device the signal will lost. Battery life: 1. The charging port is Micro USB, they will provide cable inside the box, so not to worry. 2. It take 2hrs to full charge. 3. They claimed 5 hrs battery as my usage I got around 3 to 4 hrs, with 65% volume. Conclusion: 1. If you are Beginner to Audiophile a DAC like this and pair with IEM will give best Audio Experience. 2. If your budget is strictly 3k to 6k looking for a DAC this is one of the best choice. 3. If you can effort more than 6k then skip this and choose other DAC's.K.o.K.
I bought these on a very high recommendation from an audiophile friend, and I've to say that I am so glad I listened to them. Compact size, that can be clipped to clothes or bag. Because it's lightweight, there's no weight to feel. The round shape helps it to evenly distribute whatever little weight it has. Best hardware feature is the lock button, which when clicked can stop any accidental press on the device. Now coming to sound – One word – Amazing! I clubbed it with a CCA CS 16 + a balanced cable on iPhone 11. My CCAs have never sounded so amazing before. In fact, they always sounded average with my other DAC. With XB10, I was able to hear so much clarity, and even the low background sounds (excuse if I am not using the correct Jargon) were high enough to be heard and enjoyed. But I do like to highlight that XB10's power shows with correct device. I've paired it with iPhone 11, MacBook Air 2020, and iPad Gen 7. XB10 sounded absolute crappy and low bluetooth range on iPad Gen 7. So a word of advice, before judging XB10, know which device you're using it on. Thank you!Shikha P.

Theres no way this thing should sound as good as it does. It really does put the OR in MeteOR… I was surprised how well it pushed my old Laney 4×12 cab as well as it did. The only thing I wished it had was a foot switch to switch between the clean and OD channels but at least it has a clean channel.ushdaddy716
Bought one recently to pair with my Telecaster. Really good 2-channel amp for the money as long as you have a decent cab to pair it with. It's loud for its size, fairly versatile and extremeply portable. The Meteor is supposed to be modeled after the Orange sound, and while it doesn't quite get there, it does have tons of that British crunch on the OD channel and it sounds pretty convincing for what it is. The clean channel is quite passable and would make a great pedal platform considering these amps have an FX loop. The tone control on the Meteor is a bit too subtle for my taste, but again, the FX loop allows for tone shaping through other means. The Bluetooth feature is all but worthless and I wonder why the extra electronics and room wasn't used for something more useful like a footswitch input for channel switching, or built-in reverb/delay. Either of those options would have been infinitely better than Bluetooth connectivity. The headphone out supposedly has cab simulation; it's not the worst I've heard but it isn't all that great either. Overall, this is definitely a great amp that is easily worth the money if you're looking for a nice practice or studio amp for British crunch and classic rock sounds.barny1515
A really great amp!! Silky cleans and responsive controls! Incredible value and build quality!!!

Even more portable portable with a mini cable hooked to my lap steel guitar. The volume output is so much better and clearer than the VOX clean headphone amp. EHX has no gain, just nice, clear and transparent clean sounds to help me focus on technique with my guitar. Fast shipping from Chicago Music Exchange. I highly recommend for practice in a small apartment.
I am quite pleased with this headphone amp. I have been using it with a bass and am very impressed with the even frequency response and very pure-sounding tone. I am also using Shure in-ear headphones, and the combo just sounds right together. The clip on the unit fits onto guitar straps so it is convenient to plug in with a pedal patch cable and clip on near the bottom strap button. Having said that, I do have a few gripes with the unit that were enough to take away one star. For one – mine shipped with the volume knob turned all the way up. Without clear marking of what is max and min volume, this could be damaging to someone's hearing out of the box. While it doesn't get very loud, it's still inconsiderate to the musician. The other thing is the static when the headphones are being plugged in. Again, with the default volume at max, this isn't a good thing to have happen. I certainly hope nobody puts their headphones on before plugging into this… I would much rather see a different volume knob on this unit that clicks off when it is turned all the way down, especially because I'd prefer to leave my headphones plugged into this when I'm done with it (have to unplug them to save the battery). Overall it's worth the price and the simplicity is great for musicians. Just be smart when it comes to your ears and you'll enjoy this product.that guy
Well I don't like Electro Harmonix but I've purchased junk practice/travel amps from fender, and the especially bad VOX..really really the VOX is garbage don't buy the VOX. This one I currently use at work with a single pickup and it sounds really nice and clean. Warm not scratchy. So even though I've wasted some money on Electro Harmonix pedals this practice amp can't be beat at the price point they sell them for. You might get something with more bells and whistles than a volume knob for twice as much but if you want a simple clean amp this will do at this price this is a great little device. I rated it 5 stars because for the price it blows away the toys out there at the same price. This is a stocking stuffer a musician can actually use.bjq3srl
