I use my C10sp mainly to study and play classical music at home. I own another classical which I use for gigs. I don't want my C10SP to get bumped up and scratched. The sound is well balanced with excellent bass and crisp trebles. The intonation is perfect across the fretboard. The action was standard so I lowered a bit to my taste. The wood is beautiful, the spruce top has a nice color with bear claw marks that makes it unique. The rosewood back and sides has a nice color with a beautiful rose/brownish grain. The tuners are beautiful as well and functional as it keeps the guitar tuned very well all the time. The C10SP is an excellent classical guitar at an incredible price.Guitarmonsterz
I just purchased my Cordoba C9 Parlor, and I'm so excited. Since I previously owned a Taylor GS Mini with steel strings, I was looking for a smaller size guitar with nylon strings. I tried several smaller-feel, nylon guitars (Cordoba Cadete 3/4 Size, Cordoba C5 CET Thinner Body and F7 Paco Flamenco Guitar). The first guitar I tried, the Cordoba Cadete, felt too small. The Cadete is smaller than my Taylor GS Mini. The second guitar, the Cordoba C5 CET, had a slimmer body and a thinner neck. Both of these characteristics made the C5 CET easier to play. However, I felt that its sound was slightly compromised due to its slimmer body. The third guitar I tried, the F7 Paco, was very light and comfortable, but I wasn't akin to playing flamenco, so instead I went with the Cordoba C9 Parlor. I could not be happier with my purchase. Though the D string broke within 3-days of owning my new C9 Parlor, Sam Ash's staff replaced the string same day. Additionally, the C9 Parlor comes with Cordoba's polyfoam case. Please note that this polyfoam case is not a Humicase. Although the case is beautiful, it is heavy and the straps are a flimsy. I wish Cordoba would make a smaller, lighter polyfoam case with more comfortable and durable straps.Dulci
Overall: It is a pleasure and privilege to own the Cordoba C-10 cedar classical guitar because it has the most beautiful balance across the strings. Clearly, this depends on your playing style, and the strings you choose to use. On this instrument i use "rectified-lightly polished bass" strings. While they may not last as long as unpolished strings, the sound they produce is well worth the extra expense and restringing. I can best describe the sounds from this guitar/string combination as lyrical, poetic, and warmly human. No string requires compensation while playing, not even the intrusive G, as this is not clear nylon, but has a mixture of another compound to help "tame" this unruly member.The frets are nearly perfect, with only one area near the sound hole on the low E and A, that is rarely played by anybody, though I will have it remedied eventually. The neck is straight, fingerboard true ebony, and the saddle was perfect out of the box at 2.5 mm and 3. mm clearance at the 12th fret on the 1st and 6th strings. At this low string height, I do have to be sure that strings are constantly tuned up to avoid any buzzing, but that is a small price to pay for such fine and easy play ability.It is so gratifying to find a product that meets its billing, and the stated philosophy of Cordoba's CEO to "bring fine guitars within everybody's reach." That is absolutely true of this guitar, as the first entry into a true classical guitar it proves to be worthy of far more than its cost.Kudos must be extended to zZounds as well for their "pay and play" plan which makes such a great instrument available to mere mortals. Now that I've played this guitar, the cost has become irrelevant.Finally, the most ineffable feature of this guitar only becomes apparent when you play, especially during soft passages, as you pay attention to the celestial aroma of cedar wafting through your consciousness. I do like the sound of spruce-top guitars, but find that most are stuck in "bright to brighter" tones, and they cannot come down to a warm fireplace beside a beautiful guitar played for a beloved wife. I love this guitar, but I got mine for a killer price, so… I probably like it 5x better than had I paid full price. I'm marking it not a good value because the new prices are ridiculous. But I am extremely happy with the price I got it for. Plays great, sounds great, looks great. It's got that awesome vintage vibe but has excellent playability all the way up and down the neck. Great for strumming and fingerstyle, and least for anything I want to do with it. The mic on the LR Baggs Anthem blender doesn't get much use because it feeds back. Run it through a Fishman Aura Spectrum DI, and you will love it.martin_gibson
Overall: Ordering an acoustic without being able to play and hear it first is pretty scary. After watching numerous comparison videos, I landed on the Southern Jumbo. I am thrilled to say I am absolutely blown away by this guitar. The fit and finish is flawless, and is drop dead gorgeous in person. Most importantly though is that it’s easily the best sounding acoustic I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing. The sound is lush, rich and complex, with dynamic range for days. The neck feels pretty similar to a slim taper on a 60s Les Paul. It’s got enough girth to grip, but is still easy to move around. I can’t recommend this guitar enough.
This is a unique Gibson. With the Rosewood sides and back and long scale it sounds a bit like my Martin HD-28. This guitar though, with the Rosewood bridge seems to have a little more clarity and punch. Unlike short scale Gibsons this guitar has a nice tight sound. Fit and finish is really good. Overall: I am very very happy with this guitar. It is not a perfect instrument, but for the price, you can't really get a better semi hollow, and with the 339 body, its almost impossible to find a sub $500 model. Was really happy with the specs that Epiphone has upgraded to, the grover tuners and graphtech nut really help sell the package, (i hate switching out sub-par parts). The paint job on the F holes was a little lacking but I was able to touch up with a paint marker and the plywood top was sanded a little to much in some places, revealing the ply, but I really can't complain. the stock pickups sound great and while setting the instrument up, I was very impressed at how solidly put together it is and how well it plays. Great fret work, usually the frets are lacking on a guitar in this price range. It would be great to see a deluxe model for the 339 with some more cosmetic upgrades and pickups but this instrument is a steal, get it now!
I have always wanted a 335, but did not like the larger size. I saw this 339 and stepped up and bought it home. Had to wait 6 weeks, but was it ever worth it. This is the best guitar I have ever played or been around. Cannot make my mind up if it plays better than it looks, or if it looks better then it sounds. It came set up really well, intonation and all. All I had to do was tune it and go. Cannot find one flaw in the paint, assembly or anything wrong at all. It rings so true, holds a note and there is a major difference when selecting either pickup or both, and the tone and volume controls lets you have an infinite setting control on tone and volume. Set the bridge to really ring out and the neck one a little muddy and together it is killer, but can flip the switch and brighten a solo up good. An absolute joy to play. Just strike your favorite chord and let it ring…beautiful fun. I was worried about the neck thickness, but it is a non issue. Easy to chord, simple to fret in any way you please. I cannot express just how happy I am with this guitar. Michael at musicians friend was a great help in every way getting it here.Keith
Very comfortable to hold and play, with a slightly chunky neck which is my preference. Combines the best aspects of 335s and Les Pauls. It's also heavier than I thought it would be (again for me a good thing, I don't like feather-light guitars) I was expecting SG weights and annoying neck dive. As suggested already it seems to sound somewhere between a full-sized 335 type and a solid body, which again isn't much of a surprise. Seems to have more twang than my LP which is good for my taste, which is more soul and funk. The finish is also perfect, though slightly different to the one advertised at the time of purchase. The neck fades into a natural varnish rather than the all-black paint. Also the sides are solid natural varnish rather than the fading between black and natural effect.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

The Córdoba GK Studio Negra is a rare gem among acoustic classical guitars. Once you hold it and hear the incredible tones it offers your ears, you not want to put it down. Pure ear candy that plays like soft golden butter as you easily slide your fingers on the fretboard and bend the strings. After playing many other acoustic and classical guitars over the years as a professional musician, the GK Studio Negra was ‘the one’ I’d been searching for. It just feels good and the woods are so well balanced not only in tones but beautifully designed. It’s truly a work of art and has much character. The value is unbelievable for what you get because this remarkable guitar plays and has the appearance of one three times it’s cost. This was my upgrade from a Lucero 150se and what a difference it made. In terms of playability there's no comparison, the Cordoba is superior in every way. Start with the tuners/nut which are perfectly smooth allowing you to make small adjustments even on steel strings. Playing the Cordoba is simply easier and there were things I could not do well on the Lucero due to the thickness of the wood neck. Mind you I'm not talking about the nut width which is 50mm on both, I'm talking the actual thickness of the wood neck itself below the fret board. The slimmer profile of the Cordoba meant reaching certain chords easier, changing chords faster, and giving my hands the ability to put pressure when needed. The factory strings on the Cordoba appear to be superior as well although I would still upgrade them if you can afford it; the steel strings on the Lucero wore out at about 85hrs. No fret noise of any kind on the Cordoba (so long as you play the chord right) whereas on the Lucero I would get buzzing on frets 5 & 6 from both 5th and 4th strings with anything other than light strumming, even with perfect finger placement. The sound of the Cordoba is more sharp, crisp, and clear than the Lucero. My only con is that the shallower body does create a slightly more "twangy" sound than I'm used to but its a negligible difference I quickly settled with in exchange for the other qualities. You get what you pay for. This is a very solid guitar for the price. I would recommend nothing less for serious beginners.Joe T
This guitar is great. I've had no real qualms with it so far, albeit I've only had it since April 1st. I used to play about a decade ago, but life happened and I stopped playing consistently. I bought a Jasmine S34-C about a month back to start up playing again, but it didn't revitalize my love for guitar quite like this one did. I had only played an acoustic before up until I picked up this GK Studio. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it. The ebony/gold tuning keys look very refined and the guitars "negra" or black style looks sooooo good. The contrast between the lighter and darker colors does a lot for me. The sound(for me) is just right. Not too soft, but not excessively punchy. I am not someone to perform at gigs as I've only ever played at home, but this guitar definitely has made me want to give it my all and try new things! When things finally get back to 100% here in the states I'll be giving this guitar a shot at a few spots. I've seen a few reviews online that suggest that this is a great gig guitar as well and has a great sound when plugged in so I can't wait to try that out even more so! The only (minor)thing I can think of that I would call a "con" is the Fishman tuner built onto the side of the guitar. I have not had a chance to test out the different options when it is plugged into an amp, but the on-hand guitar tuner setting can be a bit fidgety at times. Its not anything severe as I usually just tune by ear, but I personally only use it for a guide to get back to standard when I'm done messing about with other alt. tunings. I wouldn't say it docks a star from this review, but its just something to look out for if anyone is wondering about it.Ruben S

Now that I'm in my 60's, jumping around on the stage with a 10lb Les Paul is no longer an option. I'd never even consider an SG, but it was so lightweigh I thought I'd give it a try. OMG why did I wait so long? This thing is a Rock 'n Roll time machine! Besides being incredibly lightweight and resonant, it sound amazing. And due to the double cut and neck joint construction, it's soo easy to play all the way to the 22nd fret. The wide slim taper neck is incredibly fast… and its light weight means no neck dive. I should have picked one of these up years ago!Steve
Yes, this guitar is 100% worth it. I wanted to wait a full year of owning the guitar to write this so that I'd be certain. There's too much good to write about this SG to be honest so to summarize I can't even call this guitar a rock and machine id call it a musical weapon. It sounds absolutely phenomenal which for me was the most important part. I'm used to strats which id been playing the last 18 or so in terms of playability, it def plays different but it plays really nicely. It has a lot more pop and feels stiffer. The finishing and everything else is top quality as well. Guitar is beautiful. Not only does the guitar sound awesome with literally any type of gain, but the cleans are extremely nice sounding as well. This guitar is the real deal, I waited a long time to pull the trigger on this thing and it was 1000% the right decision.Pd
Having good gear is important. I've always wanted a high end guitar inspired Angus young. The Gibson SG-61 stop tail is my flagship guitar. I also have Fender acoustic and a generic electric guitars, but Gibson is my PRECIOUS I've already knocked many things off the walls . Yeah, got some powerful amps too. Overall: I purchased this guitar from zZounds about 2 years ago. Black and amazing: Before I made the move I played over 100 Gibson Les Paul and other brands, every time I came back to this exact model as the "Standard" to compare, after 6 months or so I pulled the trigger and received this Les Paul. The only thing I have a problem with is I wish I had all colors as this guitar will be a collector in time. The neck, profile, binging, hardware, pickups and electronics are perfect, not a single issue. The tone pull knows are extremely functional and the lower right tone when its "pulled up" is all on gain, treble tone and right into lead solo's without playing pickup selector and tones adjustment. Brilliant.This is players guitar, not a case queen. So glad Gibson came back from the dead.I've owned original 1969 Les Paul's and some 60 Stratocasters all of which have been narrowed down to 4 amazing Stratocasters, and a few other gems for live, scoring to film and all go to instruments.BUY THIS GUITAR and YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED.I am not endorsed by any companies!!!!Michael S. When you want a Les Paul you’ll want a real Les Paul so that’s a Gibson and not a single cut guitar by any onther manufacturer that has its looks changed because it may not look like a Gibson Les Paul. Furthermore: the Gibson Les Paul since its inception in the ‘50’s has always been and will be THE benchmark. Period. This Gibson Les Paul Classic is a gorgeous, great guitar and very competetively priced too. For your tone you really do not need an AAA flame top; many of the best sounding ‘vintage’ Les Pauls are plaintops. And when you do not want one of the ‘burst’ versions that just do not quite meet the looks of the old ones, this Translucent Red is the way to go.. you’ll be buying a guitar that reminisces of George Harrison’s ‘Lucy’ and Dicky Betts’s ‘Redtop’ without having to fork out Custom Shop money. You’ll also get 4 push-pull pots that effectively give you all the inspiring tonal options (including the ‘Peter Green’ out of phase tone) you’d find in a Custom Shop Jimmy Page # 2 (read the spec sheets) but again without having to pay the Custom Shop Price. Between 1990 and 2008 there was also a ‘Les Paul Classic’ too but the ‘Classic’ version on sale these days has little to do with that previous ‘Classic 1960’. The Burstbucker pick ups are supposed to adhere to the specifications Seth Lover intended and that Gibson was applying to the 1961 P.A.F. / Patent Number Pickups. And indeed the Burstbuckers are clear, brilliant, a bit ‘bright’ and not ‘woolly’ or ‘fatty’. More a bit like the P90 ‘without hum’ it was designed to be but then a little more powerful, without the screaming harshness of some ceramic pickups Gibson used in the past. The Grover tuners – although I prefer the looks of the Kluson keystones – are also ‘60’s-modifications’ and I must say they have a wonderfull ‘solid’ mechanically feeling action. The crown inlays in the fretboard are a perfect fit (unlike some others where gaps were obvioulsy filled up with glue or something) and the fret bindings have been finished properly (in the past I’ve seen that done less scrupulously..). The Classic also sports the ‘modern’ larger strap holders so it is not imperative to fit straplock systems right away… Any drawbacks? Some people might scare back at the weight: it comes in at 4.25 kilo’s and the Slim Taper neck profile (also a ‘60’s’ characteristic) has to be your thing. Minor detail: upon arrival the fretboard was very dry but all it needed was some luscious application of Axe Wax and now the fretboard has the same nice even chocolate brown hue as my Gibson 2019 Firebird. When you are on the search for ‘a’ Les Paul, at least try the Les Paul Classic as well. I have sold two M.I.J. Tokai LoveRocks (a 2002 and a 2003) to fund the purchase of the Gibson Les Paul Classic; that was a gamble but I was right in doing so; the Les Paul Classic really pleases me a lot more. And a note I must add: mine came perfectly set up by one of the guitar techs of Music Store; thank you! Even the intonation was spot on !
I've been playing guitar for almost 4o years and have always wanted a Gibson Les Paul because my favorite players use them. As a teenager, I couldn't afford one and saved up for a Washburn WP-80 (licensed les paul custom copy) and loved it. Ever since it has been my #1 and I've always regarded Gibson to be all about the name and not really worth the money. Well, I heard about the new Gibson line up a few years ago, decided to check them out, and discovered the Les Paul Classic model. It checked all of the boxes for my dream guitar. Plain top subtle burst, bound body and neck, coil splitting buckers, and weight relief. I saved up and ordered it through MF and it arrived 3 days later (on my birthday, no less!). Man, I don't know why I waited so long to own a Gibson. It is the sweetest playing/sounding/smelling guitar I have ever held. I was concerned about the wood grain when ordering sight unseen, but was relieved when I finally opened the case (see pics). Set up was good right out of the box. Pickups sound amazing, clear, open, and woody. The only disappointment was that the "9-hole" weight relief really isn't that noticeable. It's still a hefty Paul. Which is fine now, because I'm getting older and usually play sitting down. Also, there is a "freckle" on the fretboard. I know some would take issue with that, but to me tiny little imperfections like that just make the guitar special and unique, and It doesn't affect playing at all. This is an inexpensive, decent-quality, full-size classical style of guitar that's aimed at getting more people to play guitar by addressing the more frequent complaints as to why they don't – hurt fingers from no callouses or too small hands or hand fatigue or arthritis or injuries, etc. Steel-string acoustic guitars require a level of hand and fingertip pain for a fair amount of time before any gains are noticed. That's probably why so many people become turned off to playing them. Epiphone shrewdly addressed that with this series of easy-to-play guitars. This is not a classical guitar that's designed for use by professional musicians, on stage or for learning serious classical styles but rather a full-size guitar that encourages more people to learn to play one or for guitarists to just have fun with sitting on the couch, songwriting, learning new songs, etc. And, given its low price, few if any tears might be shed should it one day get lost, stolen or damaged. The 1.75" width nut gives fingers – short, weak, thick or hurt – a bit more room to maneuver on the lower portion of the neck without the unwanted rubbing of adjacent strings and the lower tension strings it comes strung with make fretting clean sounds much easier without hard pressing, squeaks or buzz. This additional room is helpful for learning finger-picking, too. The two strap buttons, although not typical of a classical guitar, are a nice feature as they add greater flexibility for the guitarist as to how he or she prefers to play it. The sound is clean, I'd say very good, and although I'm surely no classical guitarist, this PRO-1 is what it is and what it was designed to be – an easy to hold, easy to play, affordable guitar that should encourage more people to play in spite of hand size, age, injury, physical limitations, etc. While there are many 3/4 size classical guitars out there that also offer easier playing, this Epiphone PRO-1 is a full size model that does the same at a great price.Old guy with a new guitar
When shopping for a first guitar for your child (or yourself) it's confusing. The sales staff will usually direct you to the solid top Yamaha FG or FS series. Tone and quality wise, those are great guitars but they also come out of the box in need of a good setup to be playable up the neck. With the PRO-1 line, Epiphone has worked hard to deliver a reasonable factory setup on one of their most inexpensive models. I can not overstate the benefit this brings to the player! A few other things that stand out for this price range: We also get NuBone nut and saddle on all pro-1 models (this is the material Taylor and other top of the line builders use on their models). The NuBone nut makes a big difference in tone. Also it's a short scale which I think makes it easier to play, the neck is a slip D profile which makes it easy to get your hand around. Tuners at 18:1 ratio not 14:1, that's a first for a guitar in this price range and you get a humidifier and free lessons. If you play the least expensive PRO-1 model against anything in the budget acoustic room at Guitar Center (for those floor plans that separate budget from high end) you notice it's easier to play than anything else…. There is a solid-top version that comes with electronics if you must have a solid top, the truth is having a solid top is overrated on most budget guitars. All solid wood construction does sound different, but when you mix a solid top with the laminated back and sides, it's just hit and miss. If you stick with playing your first guitar won't be your last, and you're more likely to keep playing if you have an instrument that sounds good that is also very easy to play. For that the PRO-1 is your best bet right now.Jeremy
For the price this is a very nice sounding and playing guitar. I have owned higher end acoustic guitars in the past, and just needed something to do some occasional acoustic recording and playing when friends came by. It isn't quite up to the Takamine that I had (but it was also well over 10x the price of this one!), but it sounds great! I did swap out the strings, but that's to be expected. Overall, it is a good looking and nice playing/sounding guitar for a very, very reasonable price.Dave

I use my C10sp mainly to study and play classical music at home. I own another classical which I use for gigs. I don't want my C10SP to get bumped up and scratched. The sound is well balanced with excellent bass and crisp trebles. The intonation is perfect across the fretboard. The action was standard so I lowered a bit to my taste. The wood is beautiful, the spruce top has a nice color with bear claw marks that makes it unique. The rosewood back and sides has a nice color with a beautiful rose/brownish grain. The tuners are beautiful as well and functional as it keeps the guitar tuned very well all the time. The C10SP is an excellent classical guitar at an incredible price.Guitarmonsterz
I went to a guitar store specializing in classical guitars, and tried out a whole lot. For the price, I could not find a better-sounding guitar (if you are after the flamenco sound). Other options: While I originally intended to buy a Cordoba with cutaway and electronics, I found that those guitars (despite from being 50% more expensive) lacked in the quality of sound. A pickup from something like Kremona would cost a lot less. Sound: This guitar has a very clear sound – something you want regardless of the type of guitar. The notes do not sound muffled or dead. The flamenco construction adds to this by producing a shorter sustain, and a very bright tone. At times, it sounds similar to bells ringing. Additionally, there is a little bit of fret buzz on the bass strings when played hard – nowhere near the amount of buzz a flamenco requires, but the bridge had a lot of room to be sanded down if that's what you are after. This should go without mention, but this guitar is made for a flamenco/percussive style of playing. It is entirely possible to play classical music on it, but that music will sound better on the classical equivalent (Cordoba C7). For percussive playing, tapping various regions of the top produces a range of sounds from dull to sharp and bring – lots of potential there. Construction: I found that this guitar is built very well. It would be nice to see book-matched top and bottom, but this is after all an entry level flamenco guitar. Value: I think this is a great guitar for the price. Nothing sounds better (flamenco-wise) in guitars up to two or three times the price. Not to mention the gig bag, and truss rod – something a lot of guitars do not come with.VladimirK
I just purchased my Cordoba C9 Parlor, and I'm so excited. Since I previously owned a Taylor GS Mini with steel strings, I was looking for a smaller size guitar with nylon strings. I tried several smaller-feel, nylon guitars (Cordoba Cadete 3/4 Size, Cordoba C5 CET Thinner Body and F7 Paco Flamenco Guitar). The first guitar I tried, the Cordoba Cadete, felt too small. The Cadete is smaller than my Taylor GS Mini. The second guitar, the Cordoba C5 CET, had a slimmer body and a thinner neck. Both of these characteristics made the C5 CET easier to play. However, I felt that its sound was slightly compromised due to its slimmer body. The third guitar I tried, the F7 Paco, was very light and comfortable, but I wasn't akin to playing flamenco, so instead I went with the Cordoba C9 Parlor. I could not be happier with my purchase. Though the D string broke within 3-days of owning my new C9 Parlor, Sam Ash's staff replaced the string same day. Additionally, the C9 Parlor comes with Cordoba's polyfoam case. Please note that this polyfoam case is not a Humicase. Although the case is beautiful, it is heavy and the straps are a flimsy. I wish Cordoba would make a smaller, lighter polyfoam case with more comfortable and durable straps.Dulci

This is just a fabulous instrument. Maybe I received an especially good one, but it's alive! Such response, clarity, tone! Loud! Beautiful string balance. Solid low end, with not a hint of confusion – indeed easily as good as a friends $2,000 guitar (which has more cosmetic "fanciness", but no better tone or playability). Sound: The sound is good. I wouldn't put it in it's own category but definitely on par with other guitars in the same price range. Features: The most useful feature is the truss rod. This is very uncommon in traditional classic nylon string guitars and will prove very useful. Ease of Use: The main key to getting great sounds from any instrument is the player. However, I would recommend changing the stock strings to some EJ45 Pro-Arte's from D'addario. They have a warmer tone. Quality: As long as you keep it in the supplied gig bag and make sure to check the humidity often, I see no reason why this guitar wouldn't last decades. Value: Absolutely worth the price. For $500, you'd be hard pressed to find another nylon string that has the same level of craftsmanship. Some may argue that you can't get a good nylon string for under $1000 but for those of us on a budget, you can't go wrong with this. Manufacturer Support: Fortunately, I haven't had any reason to contact Cordoba. The Wow Factor: The price, the truss rod, the finish, $500 = Wow. Overall: I must say this is a fantastic guitar for the price. I felt as if I was playing a $800+ instrument. The quality is really on par with other popular brands that also sell nylon string guitars in the same price range. The finish is beautiful, a nice reddish/natural color. I read some complaints about the guitar being a bit too heavy but I disagree. It couldn't be any more light in my hands and fits perfectly in my lap. The neck is smooth and fast, fret edges are trimmed and tuning pegs feel like they have a good weight to them. A top quality guitar for under $500. Thanks Cordoba!
I was looking to graduate to a more intermediate model in the Cordoba line, having already purchased and enjoyed the C3M. The C7 is the perfect choice. First the appearance – The C7 is an exquisite looking guitar. The fit and finish are superior to other brands that I have researched. Fantastic looking rosewood back and sides, beautiful tight-grained cedar top, lovely rosette, beautiful gold and black tuning machines and the gloss finish is the icing on the cake. Now the playability features – Comfortable and smooth C shaped neck, outstanding warm tone and volume projection, standard classical string action, good intonation up the neck and the better quality tuning machines help to keep the instrument in tune. Throw in a real bone nut and saddle, lightweight adjustable truss rod, side fret markers and a sturdy padded Cordoba gig bag and you've got a total package that's tough to beat, especially at this price. I'd been in the market for a new acoustic for a while but never really knew which one to go for. Luckily, PMT in Birmingham has a fantastic range of acoustics and their super helpful staff were extremely patient with me as I tried about a dozen different models, including various Taylors and Martins. For some reason, I had always thought that Taylor and Martin guitars would be the cream of the crop when it came to acoustics and, as such, had never considered Gibsons even though I own several Gibson electrics. However, the second I started playing the Gibson SJ200, it was obvious that this was the one. A really comfortable neck, a gloriously balanced sound that you can 'feel' wash through you when you play, great responsiveness to the attack of your pick… I could go on. Whilst it might be a strange thing to say, whilst it does have a great pickup in it, it feels more like a traditional acoustic guitar than any of the others that I played. Whatever your style – fingerpicking through to power chord rock – this one does it all. Granted, it ain't cheap. However, if you're only ever going to buy one acoustic to keep forever, I would heartily recommend trying a Gibson Montana SJ200. If it's good enough for the likes of Bob Dylan, George Harrison and Pete Townsend, then it's good enough for me!David C.

Nachdem ich mich zuerst auf dem Vintage Markt nach einer Gretsch umgesehen habe, musste ich (wie allerdings auch bei vielen anderen Marken und Modellen) feststellen, das vor allem runtergerockter Edelschrott angeboten wird und natürlich gerne mit den üblichen Prädikaten wie "Hölzer gealtert", "besonderer Ton" und was sonst noch so alles die Gitarre teurer machen lässt geschmückt wird. In Wahrheit hat man dann oft mit sich lösenden Bindings, Elektrik-Problemen, angegammelter Hardware, abgespielten (weil noch original) Bünden etc,etc zu kämpfen. Wenn man also als professioneller Musiker nach einer zuverlässigen Arbeitsgitarre sucht ist man mit den Neuauflagen einiger Klassiker oft besser bedient. Es sei denn Geld spielt gar keine Rolle 🙂 Gretsch Gitarren sind oft mit viel Gold und etwas überladenener Optik verbunden, aber dieses Gretsch-Orange mit Nickel Hardware sieht richtig toll aus und die 6120 ist für mich sowieso der Klassiker dieser Marke. Eine echte Bereicherung in meinem Gitarren-Bestand, füllen doch die TV Jones Classic PUs genau die Lücke zwischen Singlecoil und Humbucker. Nicht so schlank wie erstere, aber trotzdem sehr schön offen. Sowohl von Clean bis kräftiger Zerrung klingt alles grossartig, selbst High Gain Soli sind drin, obwohl man dafür ja nicht unbedingt nach so einer Gitarre sucht. Für mich aber sehr universell einsetzbar. Ob man die Ton-Presets mag ist Geschmacksache, ich finde sie ganz nett, werde aber vermutlich selten darauf zurück greifen. Mit dem Bigsby kann man den Sound schön schweben lassen und wenn man es nicht übertreibt bleibt alles in tune. Leider gibt aber der Sattel einen Stern Abzug. Der war nicht gut gekerbt und liess damit natürlich zuerst Stimmungsprobleme aufkommen. Das sollte bei dieser Preisklasse nicht sein. Dafür jetzt zu reklamieren und lange hin und her zu schicken habe ich mir aber gespart, mit frischen Saiten und etwas "Schmiermittel" arbeitet dann auch alles verstimmungsfrei. Die kürzere Mensur mit 0.11 – 0.49 Saiten lässt sich super bespielen und fühlt sich an wie 0.10 auf meiner Tele. Obwohl ich normalerweise höhere Bünde mag komme ich mit der eher kleinen Vintage Bundierung hier sehr gut zurecht. Die Oktavreinheit ist trotz der Rocking Bar Bridge absolut sauber und das Sustain ist auch exzellent. Ich bin mit der Gitarre also absolut glücklich und denke für mich persönlich ist das die ultimative Gretsch !
Was sceptic for a while. After many guitars had settled on Gibson ES-330, a Nick Page Telecaster, a Collings 290. But always wondered how a guitar plays that was influential in so many totally different fields from Duane Eddy to Beatles to Neil Young to Townsend etc. It`s a magic sound machine really. And so well built! Love it already.
Die hat einfach alles, was man sich von einer Gretsch 6120 wünscht – Punch, Twang, Klingeln, Sustain, Dynamik, Aggression (wenn gewollt), super Spielgefühl, Top-Optik. (Inklusive original Chet-Atkins-Logo, das aussieht wie ein schlechtes Knast-Tattoo…) Im Vergleich mit ein paar anderen (USA, Japan und Korea) Gretsch liegt sie überall klar vorn. Intonation der Bar-Bridge ist auch mit 10-46er Saiten perfekt, das leichte V-Profil des nicht zu dünnen Halses liegt sehr angenehm in der Hand, Verarbeitung allgemein ist fantastisch. Wer auf den Sound der 59er Gretsch steht (Trestle Bracing!), aber nicht gewillt ist, 10.000 € dafür auszugeben, ist mit dieser Reissue wirklich bestens bedient. Kaufempfehlung! Einziger kleiner Wermutstropfen: der Sattel war bei Auslieferung nicht wirklich sauber gekerbt, bei Verwendungs des Bigsby blieben einige Saiten ständig hängen. Ließ sich aber mit Sattelfeile ganz schnell beheben, jetzt flutscht alles.

I use my C10sp mainly to study and play classical music at home. I own another classical which I use for gigs. I don't want my C10SP to get bumped up and scratched. The sound is well balanced with excellent bass and crisp trebles. The intonation is perfect across the fretboard. The action was standard so I lowered a bit to my taste. The wood is beautiful, the spruce top has a nice color with bear claw marks that makes it unique. The rosewood back and sides has a nice color with a beautiful rose/brownish grain. The tuners are beautiful as well and functional as it keeps the guitar tuned very well all the time. The C10SP is an excellent classical guitar at an incredible price.Guitarmonsterz
I've been mostly a rocker and jazzer for over the past 30 years or so, but I've always had an interest in classical guitar and have played and taken lessons. When recent opportunities gave me a chance to study classical guitar in greater depth, I figured I needed to upgrade from my 1988 Alvarez student guitar. I wanted solid woods, but didn't want to pay a ton of money, which put me in the Cordoba C10 category. I played guitars by Kremona, Roderiguez, Yamaha, all in the thousand dollar range and found the Cordoba the best fit for me. It certainly played the best: everything felt smooth, nice, comfortable … hm, how else to describe. And it sounded simply beautiful. Nice volume, full expression, and very responsive to my touch. It's also beautiful to look at with some lovely details and borders, I haven't picked up my archtops in a while, and I think they're going to be neglected. At bottom: I LOVE to play this guitar, don't want to put it down, and am tempted to neglect everything else in my life!Scott
This was my first venture into the world of classical guitars and I'm very happy. My first impressions on taking the Cordoba C10 guitar out of its nicely made plush velvet lined and lightweight polyfoam case, was its high quality fit and finish. Four types of wood ; Canadian Cedar top, Indian Rosewood sides and back, mahogany neck and ebony fingerboard. Excellent book matching to the Rosewood on the back of the guitar, complemented by a wood purfling stripe down the middle and base, and further purfling to the top and sides. The finish is beautifully even and highly glossy. Faultless in fact, and the neck heal joint and headstock carving is lovely. Another reviewer here states it is a heavy guitar, but I actually found it a very lightweight guitar and it plays beautifully too. A very warm sound with excellent resonance and good sustain from the evenly fitted frets. The action is possibly set a little high, but I intend have this adjusted for me. It also holds tune very nicely once the Savarez strings are fully stretched, so the prettily decorated gold Cordoba tuners are certainly doing their job well. It's a joy to play. One thing of note : The rosette in NOT made from mother of pearl as stated in the Cordoba C10 specs list. I asked Cordoba about this directly, and they said they made an error in their specs and promised to change it, so I hope they do. So I have to give 4/5 because of that, because they shouldn't be misleading their customers. Here is the official reply to me from Cordoba on Dec 3rd 2015 : "Thank you for your interest in Cordoba Guitars! The rosette on our Luthier Series guitars actually use pearloid instead of Mother-of-Pearl. Thank you for bringing this to our attention! I will have our webmaster edit the specifications to accurately reflect what the rosette is made of."James
