This pickup is an exact replacement for the Epiphone EB-0 or EB-3 neck position. Nice, clean and crisp with just enough punch. In my opinion it's better than the Gibson OEM pickup. The only caveat would be the size. It's just a hair wider than the original, only about 1/32 so it was very tight in my particular bass. Not a deal breaker at all, it's really easy to sand down the cavity for it.sdaanimal

they look great on any guitar i needed these for my little epiphone that had these originally but the owner before me didnt treat it with respect so i bought some new ones to replace the banged up ones now it looks alot better the only problem was that the bushing didnt exactly fit but all it took was time and a hammer have to be careful if you dont trust your self i say you take it to the shop

Sound: I am also a luthier and agree that this is one of the worst tuners available on the market. I outfitted my 2006 Gibson LP with Gotoh (MIJ) Vintage Tuners (look them up on STEWMAC). Gotohs are far more superior in maintaing an accurate tuning stability. Ensure you select the smaller peghead bushings style to ensure you get the correct peghead size…The more popular 10mm sizes are much larger than the LP Standard's peghead holes and I DO NOT recommend attempting to re-drill to accomodate the larger sizes. The inscription "deluxe" should be removed from the Gibson-supplied tunes altogether; there is nothing deluxe about them, unless you are referring to them as deluxe trash. Ease of Use: They do not maintain tuning stability. Quality: They do not maintain tuning stability. Value: Junk. Manufacturer Support: Don't attempt to contact them via their TECH DEPT. You will not receive a reply. Go directly to their customer service and you will be promptly assisted. Overall: They do not maintain tuning stability.
Sound: I am sad that Gibson would put something like these tuners on the market and not improve them. I bought a new Gibson ES 333 for $1200.00 and two of THESE tuners blew completely apart shortly after the warranty ran out. I tried to fix them in my shop, but there wasn't enough metal in the rivits to do anything with. Come on Gibson, I HAD FAITH IN YOU!!!!!! Features: Look good, like a Gibson should. But I will upgrade to another brand even if it hurts the value of my 333. Ease of Use: Seem to work well, but intonation stablization is a problem. Quality: Come on Gibson USA, I'd like to know who was in quality control the day my tuners were made!!!!! Value: Obviously, Gibson is banking on the value of original parts staying high, even if the quality is low. Manufacturer Support: Gibson support seems to be on the downslide somewhat. I still love the company, but their website isn't even very consumer friendly.
Sound: I'm not sure what these other players are doing wrong but my Gibson Vintage tuners hold their ground just fine. Features: they're tuners, what else do you want? Ease of Use: Just throw them on, tune up and play. Quality: I don't root around looking for the greatest tuners on earth, I buy what I want and I play it. My flying v and sg have these tuners and they're great. They hold tune for as long as i need, again, i don't know what these other players are doing wrong, are you all punching your head stocks? Value: to me, they're priceless. they work great and look great. i couldn't imagine using a different tuner on my gibsons. so, let me repeat, these look great and WORK GREAT too! Manufacturer Support: never had to contact. . .because gibson guitars are quality. The Wow Factor: they're great. if i ever need new ones i just buy them as single pieces from sellers on ebay or from gibson. i'll always come back to these. Overall: I gave these an 8 overall because, like i said, i don't go searching for the greatest tuners ever made, i just play my guitar and these work great for me and my style. . .which is the style of not punching the hell out of my guitar. the only other tuners i would consider would be the 'gotoh vintage tuners' because they look the same. maybe someday i will try one of theirs to compare, but as of right now i have no reason to.

These are exactly what the description says. I have a 2012 Les Paul Standard that had dome knobs but these are harder to handle when you want to pull it to split coils or bypass or phase invert the pickups. Its an unexplainable choice from Gibson to have these on this otherwise excellent guitar. But now it is working perfectly, much more easy to handle. I think that the music store description is missing the fact that these are Gibson original knobs, not some other brand stuff. A bit pricey if youd ask me, but very good material.
If using on Fender and Ibanez style pots try putting the knobs in a hot garage for 22 minutes 47 seconds during the summer or in a SHADY spot in a car sitting in the sun for 11 minutes 8 seconds. Lubricate the pot axis and barrel knob with some lemon oil. Get some soft cloths to protect your hands and your guitar and push darn HARD AND WITH EVEN PRESSURE until it's ON. Make sure 0 is at zero and 10 is at ten position or pointer as required. With Gibson guitars you still gotta push HARD but not quite as hard as with an Ibanez/Fender. If you break one in the process do not panic. Just do it more carefully next time. Because you have to push HARD.Flair

I used ths to replace the cheap plastic jack plate on a Squier Affinity Telecaster (go ahead & laff, I like it.) I bought the chrome one, it is metal & the curvature on it is close enough. I did have to drill 3 new holes & it isn't exactly straight but I'm sure you could center it correctly if you are that picky. I no longer have to deal with my cord going in at a crazy angle because of a cheap broken plastic input cover. Thanks Musicians friend. But like 4 bones for shipping this little thing? Ouch!Greenbus

I recently went to my local GC and bought pickups, pots, knobs, and an output jack for my 1981 SG Firebrand. While I was taking the strings off, I realized I should have bought tuners, too. These are the exact same tuners I had on the guitar, so I didn't have to do any drilling. They were a snap to install and since they're not 29 years old (have I really been playing guitar that long?) they look FANTASTIC. Best of all, like one of the other reviewers said, they hold their tune as well as more expensive machine heads. If you have a Gibson with Grovers (that's what these are) and you need to replace them, forgo the pricey models and keep your guitar "stock" with these.
Grover tuners have rocked for years, and this set is no different. The fact I did not need a drill, or a trip to repair shop, plus the rock solid performance of the Grover design makes this the ideal choice for anyone looking to upgrade. I would not choose anything else. I must also mention these things look killer on the guitar. These tuning machines are direct replacements for the Gibson deluxe plastic tulip style machines. These tuners bolt right up using the existing bottom hole for the deluxe tuners so no drilling is required. The top hole is nearly covered up but still visible, However the improvement in tuning is well worth it. The washers, threaded inserts, and mounting screws are all identical to the deluxe, this set defines "direct replacement". This set is made by Grover for Gibson, They are stamped Grover on the tuner. The tension is adjustable and they are absolutely rock solid. Same tuner as the original Grovers with the "kidney style" button, but with metal "tulip deluxe style" buttons. Fantastic price, and easy for anyone to install. No trip to the repair shop needed.

I have a 2011 Gibson Les Paul Studio. It goes on, but the threads are set back further than the originals. So it goes down too far and does not allow the toggle to move in any direction. I contacted Gibson and was told these are the only caps being produced currently. The retro / vintage ones look like they may work, however they cost a lot more and do not come in black.New To It

It doesn't. my epi cap screwed right off then tried to put on the gibson cap and found out the hole is way to big with no metal threading on the inside. Should it have metal threading on the inside? There's actually a lot to know about picking the right pickup bindings (aka mounting rings or pickup surrounds). From choosing the right style, color, angle and height to getting the correct mounting screw hole pattern that matches your guitar exactly, this is sometimes better left to your favorite guitar tech. You should consider whether you need arched or flat bindings, as many bindings have a slight arch so you don't crack them when you tighten them down on an arched top guitar, like many Les Pauls. All this makes buying the correct binding somewhat difficult for the unknowing. Also, it is important to get the correct screw lengths and head shape that fit the binding. The tall lead pickup bindings on a Gibson LP often require both long and short length screws, whereas the neck binding takes four shorter length screws. However, all eight binding screws on a Gibson SG Standard are all the same shorter length. The "cream" colored ring is that gross, weird brownish cream that Gibson used for a little bit a few years ago; not the traditional cream color. I already hated that color, but it's even worse when you have a guitar whose parts are all the traditional cream color except for one pickup ring, which clearly doesn't match.Dan

Es sind Gurt-Pins und sie sind goldfarben. Dienen in erster Line zum befestigen eines Gitarrengurts. Dem ersten Eindruck nach eignen sie sich dafür. Da sie aber vor der Gitarre eingetroffen sind, für die sie bestimmt sind, könnte ich das jetzt nicht beschwören… Hingegen die ansonsten identischen silberfarbenen Pins erfüllen den selben Zweck in durchaus ausreichend gutem Maße. Auch hat meine Epiphone-Gitarre nicht spontan Feuer gefangen, als ich die Gibson-Originalpins angeschraubt habe.

Gibson cases need a strap that goes around the sides. This one needs the insertion to be straight under-and over. You need to put a zip tie on the case clamp first then attach this so it is oriented right. Its strength is not up there, its nice looking but buy insurance if you are depending on carrying a les paul. Rather reinforce with leather.007kun

I just installed this pot in my LTD EC-401VF and it works extremely well, I'm very happy with it, it sounds very good. Soldering on the sides for ground connections was very easy. Beware though: shaft diameter is 3/8". Check your existing pot shaft to make sure it fits. Mine was 5/16" and I had to enlarge the hole with a drill.
I bought 4 of these to do the J.P. wiring in my '17 Gibby and what is Gibson thinking putting their name on these?! These come in actual Gibson packaging, the black shrink wrapped cardboard with the part showing through the shrink wrap but what's this? ……..the pots say "ALPHA" on them!!! Seriously? I almost fell outta my workshop chair when I saw this! I just bought FOUR of these overpriced ALPHA pots because THE PACKAGING SAID GIBSON??!! I immediately got out a Dimarzio push/pull pot and compare them. The rebranded alpha pot felt noticeably cheaper & lighter than the Dimarzio one which costs about half as much. Gibson should be ashamed of this terrible underhanded, deceptive, false-advertised, switcheroo. I lost a whole lot of respect for Gibson on that day.Dalton
