I have previously played and owned only long scale basses. Have always wanted to try a short scale. Went to my local GC and tried a few they had in house. The short scale Sterling was a nice looking bass but the fret work was terrible. Based on reading other reviews I took a risk and ordered a Squire CV 60 Mustang. It is a beautiful instrument. Arrived in great condition with absolutely no flaws. Finish is great, Fretwork is great, string action and intonation were nearly perfect. Hard to believe that Squire can make an instrument like this for such a reasonable price.Jim
I have always wanted a short-scale Fender and decided to pull the trigger on the Squire CV version. Being a Gibson player, the 25.5 scale length always threw me off but this Mustang is very easy to play/swap between my Les Paul and 335's. The single-coil tones are great and certainly a contrast to the humbuckers & P90's I usually play. To be 100% honest, you better have some skills in setting up guitars and polishing frets or be prepared to pay a tech to get these guitars to their full potential. I had to completely polish the frets and fiddle for weeks to get the action to my liking. A neck shim is almost essential to get any height on the bridge and provide enough downward pressure to keep things intonated. I have no idea why Fender doesn't do this on all Mustang's, Jazzmasters and Jaguars since this is a very well-known issue. Once dialed in and frets polished up, this Mustang is a little tone monster.Jason F
Sound: It's a classic Mustang sound. Ease of Use: The Mustang bass was originally made for younger players and students, but it has a serious professional following as well. Quality: The only problem initially was rough fret ends which were quickly taken care of. Look for pro advice online as to how to do this. Value: Because I owned one before, I feel this is worth the selling price. Manufacturer Support: No contact with Fender about any concerns. Unless it's something out of my ability I'll handle it myself. The Wow Factor: When I first saw the "Vintage Vibe" Mustang bass, it owned me. Overall: I've owned one before and had to sell it. Incredible instrument. I've always preferred short scale basses because they're so much fun to play. Had to buy this one. I like playing this bass more than my 2001 American Series Precision bass! I purchased a Surf Green bass and it's really nice. I am a multi-instrumentalist but mainly play guitar, so I was looking for something with a shorter scale as I am playing bass in a Chris Stapleton tribute. If you listen to the bass tracks in his music, they are very melodic and all over the fret board, so I needed a bass that wasn't too far off scale from a regular guitar. This bass nails it. Very smooth and easy to get around. As for the sound, it's perfect for what I need, and there's so many other tones you can get as well. I still get a nice deep punchy sound, even with it being short scale. It was actually setup real nice out of the box, good enough to where I haven't adjusted anything yet and I've been playing this every night for about a month now. The workmanship quality is great too – I haven't noticed any flaws in the guitar yet. This is a great bass. If you're looking for something short scale, this is a really nice option.
I've been playing guitar for 15+ years and recently started playing bass for a touring gig (indie/surf/punk band). Simply put – this bass rips. If you're a good guitar player you will be able to shred this thing with little effort. If you're a good bassist I'd imagine this thing feels like a toy (but still sounds like a proper bass). I'm a small dude (5'9", 140 lbs) and the Mustang feels beyond comfortable standing, sitting, playing live, etc – not much heavier than the average 6 string. The stock pickups sound better (IMO) than a $1,200 early 2000's Jazz Bass I was playing before I got the SS. I've been mostly rocking the neck (P) and middle (P&J). J pickup sounds pretty weak on its own tbh but I imagine it would sound pretty gnarly if you wanted to record a lead line with it. THE ONE MASSIVE CON: The stock bridge, like every other Fender offset in history, IS TERRIBLE. Fender sent me this bass personally and it was shipped in a cardboard box (so who knows what happened in transit) but upon arrival the E string was rattling and producing dead notes after the 7th fret, as well as not staying in tune for more than the duration of one song. The issue: the bridge pin was loose and causing the saddle to slowly lower while I played (the poor quality of these parts is exactly why this bass is so affordable). I adjusted the action and tightened the pin and all seems to be okay for now… playing a 45 minute set with it tomorrow so cross your fingers. Bottom line – if I didn't know how to do a basic set up on my instrument I would hate this bass and think it sucked. That being said, if you're halfway competent and looking for an affordable SS, this is the best option in 2017. Oh! First time owning an instrument with Pau Ferro and it is noticeably smoother/faster than rosewood. Tone is on the darker side but still bright enough to cut through.Richey
I picked this bass up after switching to bass from guitar. I'm a professional musician, playing 35 years. I bought this bass thinking that the scale would be great for me as a former long-time guitarist and that it would suit my stature (I'm a very short guy). Well, all of that was true, but I encountered two very troubling issues that would end up costing me a significant amount to fix. 1) the pickups were not good. I have had cheaper basses with much more consistent sounding pups. The jazz pickup's output volume was drastically lower than the P pickup's volume output. When switching between the two, I ended up having to turn up the amp volume and roll my volume knob back and forth. Annoying. I would expect this on a $200 bass, but not on a Fender, even a low end one. I spent $120 on a set of Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder PJ pickups and instantly fixed the issue. Sounds WORLDS better now. 2) The neck was slightly twisted and I had to have a shim put in on a brand new bass. I could have sent it back, but by the time I was aware of the neck issue, I had already installed the pickups, so I chose to deal with it. These negative things aside, now that I have spent over $200 to get her set up and playable in the studio and on stage, I love it. It isn't too heavy, it has a slender neck, and I have replaced the horrid mint colored pick guard with custom-made LP pickguard. There really is nothing else in this scale or pricepoint that is any better, body and feel wise. Although there are lower priced basses (Squier Jags, Ibanez Talman) that have better quality pickups. I spent $20 on a bridge cover and now people think this is a 60's Mustang… so after all that, I guess I'm good with this. But if I had known I'd have to do all of this, I might have shelled out for a Warwick or something.Crowolfe

Overall: I can't believe there aren't any reviews of this guitar yet!I have the Burgundy Mist version of this with the pao ferro fretboard which, sadly, zZounds no longer carries. It's pretty, really pretty, and it exudes a seriously vintage vibe. (I saw an antique Burgundy Mist Chevrolet last week and I immediately thought of my feisty little Fender.)The hardware; bridge & tuners, is your standard MiM Fender quality. They're more than up to the task. The Strat-style bridge makes this an easy guitar to keep in tune. (I once had a 1978 Mustang and keeping it in tune was a nightmare that not even Edgar Allen Poe or H.P. Lovecraft could imagine.)The MP-90 pickups are capable of so much that it I could fill a whole page trying to accurately describe them. They are beefy enough to really drive a good tube amp. (My main amps are a Marshall DSL1 and Vox AC4-C112.) On a clean setting the neck pickup on its' own isn't particularly impressive, kinda dark, but the middle and bridge positions are really versatile if you tweak the volume and tone controls.With distortion, in my case a Boss MD-2 Mega Distortion (it's more of a gargantuan fuzz than a distortion pedal), all three positions sings with a tone that would make Leslie West smile broadly.I'm not a big guy (5'9", 150 lbs) so the small offset body and short scale neck are really comfortable.There is only one real drawback to this marvelous axe but it's something that shouldn't for even a second dissuade anyone from adding this guitar to their guitarsenal, and that's the pickup selector switch. It's junk. It cuts out and is rather staticky (is that a word?). It's a cheap piece of junk but it usually works so I can deal with it. (And you can as well.) I'll eventually replace it but there's no need to right now.My particular specimen had a truly beautifully grained pao ferro fretboard, with the frets being smooth and very well dressed. I love a big monstrous tone and this little wonder genuinely delivers.(Fender's prices have gone up since I bought mine but this particular axe is an absolute joy to play and for the price is still a true bargain. It loves, LOVES, full six-string power chords so if you're in a Mountain tribute band then you'll find a lot to like in this guitar.)I am first and foremost a "Telecaster guy" but I love pulling out this little dude and blasting away like Han Solo in a cantina full of Greedos.I've gone on for far too long here but it's only because I really, really like this guitar.[In my 'stars' rating I give this guy five stars in the 'manufacturer support' column because I own a bunch of Fenders and have never had a problem.]Mark
This is a great entry to the Fender lineup and a step up from Squier quality. The craftsmanship is far from perfect however. Nut slots not quite cut deep enough, fret slots cut a little too deep in places and sharp fretboard edges. That's about it as far as shortcomings though. The guitar looks killer in Burgandy Mist and it sounds just a good with the P90 pickups. The Pau Ferro fretboard compliments the looks and mine almost has a tiger's eye 3D effect going on which is an unexpected bonus. The 24' scale, modern C neck profile with satin finish on the back, combined with the medium jumbo frets and a 9.5 inch radius all contribute to an almost effortless playing experience. My one has a slightly heavier body that others I've tried which I'm very glad of as it eliminates any sign of neck dive that can plague these guitars (probably not helped by the oversize headstock). The guitar sounds fantastic clean with the P90s sitting somewhere between a single coil and humbucker and just as good with overdrive. The pickups are also not as noisy as I'd feared so you need not dread the hum. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with this guitar and since I'm happy to file my own nuts, as it were, a little tweaking to ensure perfect playability doesn't worry me in the slightest. It's a keeper for sure.

I know that I will start an argument with this comment but I'm gonna say it anyway. Why lug around a full size bass guitar when the short scale bass sounds just as good and weighs a lot less. I tried a full size bass and to tell the truth I would have never been able to play a set with it. It was just too heavy for me. Maybe twenty years ago I may have been able to take the weight but not now. I am a guitar player mostly and the full size bass was too much. This bass is the perfect weight, the perfect look and quality, and sounds like a full size bass. It just does. I see a time where the 34 inch scale will wither away and be replaced with the shorter scale bass. It's inevitable. The full size bass has nothing to offer over the shorter scales than maybe cosmetic options. And that will change as time goes on a people realize the advantages of the shorter scale. As a disclaimer I will say that is my opinion. I am sure that full time bass players may have their own reasons for the full size bass.Danny

This is a used fender american performer mustang bass in arctic white, it is a late 2021 model, and it is in excellent condition. it has two small dings, one on the headstock, and one on the body on the back bass side hip. both are minor and do not affect the playability, they are shown in the pictures. the bass has been setup with 45-105 gauge ernie ball medium scale strings, which perfectly fit this string through body short scale bass. the new design fender yosemite pickups sound really great, they cover both jazz and precision bass tones, and are reverse wound for hum canceling when both are used together. includes original gig bag. please message with any questions!

Really good guitar for nirvana type music. Only issue is that you need to set it up for it to be playable but once it's set up it's a great instrument. Pickups are pretty articulate but not to bright either just perfectly balanced. If you get one I recommend to lock the bridge down to improve its tuning stability and sustain. Note it DOES NOT sound like a kc style mustang, it has its own sort of sound to it. Fretboard is pretty nice same with the low radius which I prefer. Overall it's one of my favorite guitars I've ever bought and I cannot recommend it enough if you play grunge and nirvana music.Preston

I have previously played and owned only long scale basses. Have always wanted to try a short scale. Went to my local GC and tried a few they had in house. The short scale Sterling was a nice looking bass but the fret work was terrible. Based on reading other reviews I took a risk and ordered a Squire CV 60 Mustang. It is a beautiful instrument. Arrived in great condition with absolutely no flaws. Finish is great, Fretwork is great, string action and intonation were nearly perfect. Hard to believe that Squire can make an instrument like this for such a reasonable price.Jim
I have always wanted a short-scale Fender and decided to pull the trigger on the Squire CV version. Being a Gibson player, the 25.5 scale length always threw me off but this Mustang is very easy to play/swap between my Les Paul and 335's. The single-coil tones are great and certainly a contrast to the humbuckers & P90's I usually play. To be 100% honest, you better have some skills in setting up guitars and polishing frets or be prepared to pay a tech to get these guitars to their full potential. I had to completely polish the frets and fiddle for weeks to get the action to my liking. A neck shim is almost essential to get any height on the bridge and provide enough downward pressure to keep things intonated. I have no idea why Fender doesn't do this on all Mustang's, Jazzmasters and Jaguars since this is a very well-known issue. Once dialed in and frets polished up, this Mustang is a little tone monster.Jason F
Sound: It's a classic Mustang sound. Ease of Use: The Mustang bass was originally made for younger players and students, but it has a serious professional following as well. Quality: The only problem initially was rough fret ends which were quickly taken care of. Look for pro advice online as to how to do this. Value: Because I owned one before, I feel this is worth the selling price. Manufacturer Support: No contact with Fender about any concerns. Unless it's something out of my ability I'll handle it myself. The Wow Factor: When I first saw the "Vintage Vibe" Mustang bass, it owned me. Overall: I've owned one before and had to sell it. Incredible instrument. I've always preferred short scale basses because they're so much fun to play. Had to buy this one. I like playing this bass more than my 2001 American Series Precision bass! I've been a short scale fan ever since buying a Fender Squire Vintage Modified Jaguar SS bass many years ago. I was impressed with quality of the Squire and after changing the pickups (P J set) found it was the bass I always picked up to play. I had recently been looking at the Mustang but found it hard to justify buying since I already had a short scale bass. Then I saw the JMJ signature… road worn, '66 style with original style custom Seymour Duncan spilt coil pickups and a wider neck then my Jaguar. I bought one and after playing it for a few weeks I have no regrets. What a difference in the quality which I already thought was good in the inexpensive Squire. The neck feels great and the extra time spent on the fret work is obvious. I really love what they've done to create the "road worn" look, which something you can't get unless you're buying a Custom Shop instrument. All that you've heard about the JMJ Mustang is true. Killer tone that really cuts through the mix. This is my first Fender bass and after 30 years of playing I don't know why I waited so long. The thing Sam Ash does right that others do not these days (ahem…GC) is have a variety of price ranges and styles to explore. The store rep came over offered me a cord to try them out and left me to do my thing. The reason why a variety was essential was because I was able to play basses on the lower price point, one that I initially planned to buy, but then a bright light shined on the only bass on the wall with flat wound strings and a relic finish. I plugged it in, let it rip, and it felt/sounded amazing. I put it back on the wall, picked up the cheap bass I wanted and it sounded clanky, put it back and kept picking up this bass on the wall, again and again. This is when the store rep came over to check on me, didn't pressure me, but validated me saying the feel on that one is like no other, then offered to work with me on price if I was interested. After I finally decided, there was some chatter among the other store reps that someone was buying "the relic!" I felt special. In the end, I went in Sam Ash on a budget and left with an instrument I'll keep for life and give to my kids. No bad decisions were made.DYLAN

Beautiful, rare color faded mocha, in like new condition. no chips, dings, scratches, and basically only the tiniest amount of pick swirls. beautiful body grain. 24" scale the guitar itself is extremely light and finished off with an extremely smooth finish. users find the bridge pickup to be extremely clear and articulate. the sound produced is not too harsh. the fender mustang guitar also has a nice output and character, blending the classic fender sound with more mids and bass. this model features a string thru bridge, rather than the classic tremolo. a string-through-body bridge enhances vibration transfer resulting in increased sustain while the six individual saddles can be adjusted for precise intonation along each string.

Its a little by chance what you get from mex. fenders in terms of craftsmanship and details. Mine has a little dent and a little gap between neck and body but it is sturdy. Fret work is not like americans. Tone wise and playability is good. I like the look of pau ferro wood. Neck shape is comfy not like 70s baseball bat p bass more like 70s j bass. The orange color is the reason i pick this one, fender changing colors every two three years so if you have this color in mind go for it. Much much better in real than pictures. Overall, if you need a good practice/little jamming bass its a good alternative. Instead of squiers go for this. I have sire as well, if you dont like/need active preamp simple is the best. Also, this new pickups are good, have good bass and midrange not scooped like some american pickups. One final thing, I've tried couple of player series before ordering this, some of them is not well at all in build quality. So, it is a little surprise what you get, check after you buy it and then decide to keep it or not. Have fun..

Overall great looks and sound, but some quality issues from the Fender Mexico factory (not Andertons' fault): – First bass had very clear weird uneven blemish under the varnish on the sunburst body. Not awful, but if I was in-store I would never have chosen that particular item. Returned and swapped by Andertons, no quibbles. Second bass arrived. Overall happy, sounds great, but still a few issues with quality control and design. – Control plate was missing 2 screws and was moving around – how does that get through Fender quality control? Replacement screws sent free of charge by Andertons. – Nut has not been slotted correctly – high G must have been passed through a machine and slipped, string is clearly a couple of mm too close to fretboard edge and you can see the failed first pass. Doesn't really affect playability, but is annoying and I will get it corrected at some point. Again, points to poor quality control. – Fretboard (Pau Ferro) is really thin – on the Player series, at least. Neck fret dot markers in white are half over the mid-dark fretboard, half over the light maple neck. Very hard to see in low light levels. OK, so they're just an indicator for position, but the design isn't great. So overall, the bass sounds great and Andertons service was very good. …and falls in love. Let me start by saying I actually have owned one other P-Bass. I had a 50s reissue Precision, but honestly the neck was just too thick for my liking after years of playing Jazz basses. Honestly, it felt thicker than the neck on my Yamaha 5-string. So, I picked this bass up after always dancing around getting what would be considered a more standard P-Bass. I have a 70s Jazz with a ton of modifications, I've had quite a few other brands of basses, but I wanted to see what the fuss was about. I ordered this a few weeks ago, and have been very pleasantly surprised. The action was pretty good out of the box. I adjusted it a bit, made a few tiny tweaks to the intonation, and now it's super smooth. And, on the pickups, let me say it's a great sounding bass. Pickups are clear, bass sounds great. I play through a little Ampeg Micro cabinet. Earlier this week, I bought some Flats to throw on it (because that's what you do with a P-bass, right?) and now it's quickly becoming one of my favorite instruments to jam with. It really cuts through the mix when playing in a group. I see why folks really love the sound of a precision. My Jazz still has it's place, but man, I really like the sound of this bass. The Player P is a great value for what you get. I've never owned an older MIM, but I research the heck out of pretty much any purchase I make, and it looks like Fender really stepped it up with this rendition of their MIM Precision basses. Good tone out of the box, no discernible pickup noise, good action, a beautiful neck, and a Tidepool Blue finish that just shines and shines.Dennis F

If you are tired of searching for a professional sound buy this bass. I hated the mim fender deluxe model, but fender did something special with this bass. It has a clear piano like quality to it. My two sire basses sound like toys up against it. I have wasted so much money on lesser basses. I'm just trying to help my fellow bass players out there. Everyone says that I sound good playing my other basses, but there are certain ugly overtones that I don't want to hear in my bass. This bass doesn't have those unwanted frequencies, it is voiced beautifully. I know that most of tone is in the fingers, but at the end of the day you know what you want to hear. If you are an audiophile this is the bass for you. I have spent weeks demoing this bass and no matter what amp you run it through it sounds good. I played it at a church last week and all I can say is it was nasty. My wife ordered mine yesterday for my birthday and it's suppose to arrive today, fingers crossed.Eric
I've owned and played bass guitars for 30 years now and I've owned several fender basses and the myriad clones out there of the J and P basses. That history and background left me with a bias against fender and an eye for other "better" production guitars like the Stingray which is my other go-to bass. That being said, I am blown away by this bass. It is a SOLID instrument with no flaws or blemishes that I can detect. It came from the factory with an almost perfect setup. I had to make a minor intonation adjustment on the low B and E strings but the string height, pickup height, and neck position were perfect. Fender's Ultra Noiseless pickups (a stacked humbucker really) sound great in passive mode emphasizing a fat bottom end and the tone nob adds a good bit of mids. The highs are kinda meh for me but the active switch takes care of that and I can get as bright as I want. The 18v active preamp provides a lot of room to boost or cut low, mid, and high frequencies to get just about any sounds I want (I still prefer my Sting Ray if I want to get real funky). This is about the best sounding 5-string I've had. Most 5-strings sounds great as 4-strings and SUPER muddy when you work the low-b string but this bass brings it out without too much mud.T. DeWees
I bought this base back in April 2022. It sounds great and plays great. However, the front pickup recently quit all together. After a tech looked at it, it was discovered that it was a bad front pickup. It was beyond the store warranty, so I took it up with fender. After 2 weeks of going back and forth between them and the store that I bought it at, it was determined that fender would send the pickup to the technician if my choice and they would fix it. But it would take 30 days because they send it directly from the manufacturer. Which still boggles my mind, because the slowest mail would be less than a week? So my opinion of fender customer service has dropped considerably. A working musician doesn't have 30 days to do without their instrument. This is unacceptable. I decided to purchase the pickup myself. I can get it in the mail in 2 days, and put it in myself. However this is a great base if you happen to get one with good parts in itJerry

The Squier Bronco Bass delivers exactly what I expected. It's a 30" scale bass with a body shaped like the Fender Mustang bass; it has a single pickup (I believe it's a strat pickup), is fairly light weight (mine weighs in a 7 pounds 10 ounces), and it's a fun little axe. It's also the lowest-priced bass by an actual musical instrument company. How do they keep the price down? One way is that this is the only bass I've owned that has no fingerboard. It doesn't affect anything, but the front of the neck IS the fingerboard. The hardware is okay quality. But here's the thing – it sounds decent, feels great, plays well. There's going to be a little luck of the draw in a lower priced instrument, but my tuners stay in tune, intonation was on, everything is good. There was a little too much neck relief, but that was easy to adjust. If you're realistic about your expectations, the Squier Bronco Bass is an awesome value, looks good, and it gets you playing. It's not going to sound like a Stingray or a Geddy Lee Jazz Bass, but it doesn't sound bad, either – I would do a show with one without worrying about it. I have other basses, but wanted to add an inexpensive short scale to my stable, and this bass was exactly what I wanted. I may upgrade the pickup later – I may not. For now, it falls between my 34" scale and 28.6" scale basses, and it's fun to play. I'm very happy with it.Pcake
I ended up using this bass for songs where long scale can be a bit difficult. My main bass is an imported '54 P Bass copy, Alder body and maple neck/fingerboard. It had to go into a local shop for some major nut repair, and I needed something to play around with. Off the rack, it was a pretty great bass for the price. The neck is very well crafted, no sharp fret edges like some imported instruments. It's an agathis body, so the tone can be kind of bland, but compared to older Squier Broncos, it seems that all of the bridge and neck contact one piece of wood on the multi-piece construction, so sustain isn't too bad. The bad: The tuners are pretty sorry and are an oddball size, which makes replacement with good tuners very difficult. My E and A tuners rattle some, but all four do hold tune pretty well for cheap tuners. Also, the stock pickup is a six-pole ceramic Strat pickup, so it can sound…odd when bending strings. The other bad is the bridge: although it intonates pretty well, two saddles can make proper intonation difficult to achieve along with proper radius. Also, the bridge mounting pattern is almost impossible to replace with another bridge–four hole lock-down and quick-release style bridges DO work, but the bridge is mounted a little too far forward, and intonation is almost always sharp on the upper end of the fingerboard. Gotoh 201's are also very difficult to adapt to fit. But for its price point, some of these cons are easily fixed. I have a Mojotone Alnico V lipstick Strat pickup in mine with CTS 500K pots. It sounds excellent–it fools some of my buddies about how cheap it is. This bass could probably also benefit from a bar retainer near the nut. my dad, a professional and extremely experienced bass guitarist, bought me this for christmas last year, and i love it. this is the first bass i've ever picked up and it's easy to play, is well built, has a nice feel to it, etc. i highly recommend it for beginners. i play it in my school band class and it fits in very well with the rest of the instruments. however it can fall out of tune easily and the pickup isn't the best, but ultimately it's the most perfect beginner bassout there, especially for the low price, it's high qualityace

Just recieved this bass today. It arrived in tune! Very surprising. Setup out of the box was great. I knew when I ordered it I would be taking the heavy gloss off the back of the neck. I am a guitar player and love a raw feeling, oiled neck. I sanded this back with 220 up to 1000 grit. Made for a sweet satin feel without getting into the color coat. It plays very smoothly now. The electronics seem to work great. Pickups are awesome. Run it with both pups on like Duff. Sweet tone! I have to say, I very much considered the Deluxe version with its added features but, I didnt want that pickguard. I hope to get many years of use from this one. Lastly, I have made A LOT of purchases through AMS. They have always been top notch with the payment plans, customer service, etc. Ive only ever had a few product problems and they have been quick to fix the issue. Thanks and Rock On!
Amazing bass. I always wanted a P-Bass, and this thing delivers. The PJ combination gives you all you will ever need for any kind of music you play. The layout is easy with the Expander gives that more tonal diversity in a lightweight, comfortable package. The neck needed a few adjustments before I got it to play flawlessly but after I did there was no looking back. Can’t beat this thing for its price and the fact it doesn’t have the pick guard of the newer models and most basses of this type means more wood for better tone.T.

Well… Once again Fender short changed me on the pickups. They're flat and have no punch or power. I had this thing for a week and took it on stage with me. I kept having to crank up my head unit to be able to hear it. Plus the bridge screws were way too tall for the saddles. I'm a pick player and they were cutting into my pinky as I played. I had to take it to my guitar tech. After I bought a set of Seymour Duncan quarter pound pickups and had him put in new saddle screws the thing plays and sounds awesome. I only have it 3 stars cause it's pretty and it's super light weight.Daniel

Fender guitars have been a good buy over the last decade or so. The factories in USA, Japan and Mexico all maintain quite a decent level of quality. This one is one of about 5 Mexican-made Mustang Fenders that I had a chance to hold in my hands. And this time I was not disappointed at all. The guitar does have some "imperfections", but given the price, these are all absolutely tolerable. Much higher priced US-built Gibson guitars tend to have a lot more of such imperfections. I'm particularly impressed with the quality of fretwork. Again, it is not perfect, but better than one could expect. I checked the frets with a fret rocker took and did not find a single bumpy fret. The fret ends are surprisingly good too. My only regret is that, unlike a few years ago, now these Mustangs are supplied even without a gigbag. But it's okay. I could definitely recommend this purchase.

Overall: I just finished giving my new Olympic White Fender Mustang 90 a test drive.Wow… Awesome guitar.I'm sorta small framed (5'9" & 140 lbs) so the short scale neck and smallish body are a perfect fit for me.This is my third Mustang but first hardtail w/P-90's and it is definitely a stand-out model.I tested it using a vintage Marshall Valvestate VS-15R with an aftermarket Celestion Eight 15 speaker. (This amp has two pregain knobs so it can dial in a seriously saturated fuzz tone. I dimed both pregains and was rewarded with a massive tone that was very pleasing to this huge fan of the Beck & Page era Yardbirds.)The clean tones are nice as well but aggressive playing will cause the notes to break up. These pickups are really potent.This guitar can play old 40's Les Paul style jazz. Just switch to the neck pickup, roll back the tone and pick softly.The pau ferro fretboard is smooth and the medium jumbo frets allow for easy bending and for a smooth finger vibrato technique. The hardtail Strat style bridge is sturdy and nicely suited for palm muting.The tuners appear to be top quality – I was pounding away and executing some wild bends for a good 45 minutes and the strings didn't slip one bit.The volume and tone pots are smooth and allow for gradual adjustments unlike some pots where most of the changes occur in the last third of the pot's range.The finish is flawless and the overall construction of this Mexican Fender appears to be top notch.My only complaint is with the fret edges. They are pretty sharp. My Indonesian Squier VM Mustang has better dressed frets. ("C'mon Fender, you can do better, can't you?!")I would recommend HIGHLY this guitar. great warm fender cleans. reverb is excellent. gain channels suprisingly good. plenty of volume. well built. simple to use. dont use pedals anymore but i hear its a good platform. i got it to plug straight in and play. when your pressed for time and dont have hours a day to scree around with the levels this will give you great tone fast with no hassle dialing it in. great valuethe cheese
I purchased this amp after buying a les Paul , plugging into my Princeton chorus and not getting the sweet warmth I heard hours before. I no longer want or need pedals (although occassional delay) its 3 channels are plenty for warm blues or rock. Tone rich. And a bargain at the time, as I see it for @ $1000 now. Best bang for my buck.
Great Fender tube sound, spring reverb. Loud, bright clean tones, plenty of headroom. 2 adjustable levels of gain/distortion. 2 12in Celestion speakers. Pine cabinet like the old twins, lighter better sound. Takes pedals like delays power amp in/preamp out. The choice of lots of pros for good reason. Absolutely love this amp.Jon

what a great bass! It's beautiful, light, and sonically versatile. the different pickup modes have 3 radically different tones which makes this bass right for lots of situations. I've seen some reviews that mentioned so issues with some fret roughness but mine showed up in perfect condition. I couldn't be happier with the bass. I also want to mention the customer service. I used the chat feature to confirm whether this bass came with a bag or case. the agent let me know that it does not but pointed me to the bundle that includes the bag and they set me up with a price I could not pass up. once I completed the purchase the item was shipped within 90 minutes. This is a great short scale bass. It is a quality instrument. The finish is excellent. Playability straight out of the box was very good. Nicely set up.I love the pick-ups and the ability to blend the two with their individual volume controls. Great range of tones available. It looks good too ! Highly recommended. Really good guitar for nirvana type music. Only issue is that you need to set it up for it to be playable but once it's set up it's a great instrument. Pickups are pretty articulate but not to bright either just perfectly balanced. If you get one I recommend to lock the bridge down to improve its tuning stability and sustain. Note it DOES NOT sound like a kc style mustang, it has its own sort of sound to it. Fretboard is pretty nice same with the low radius which I prefer. Overall it's one of my favorite guitars I've ever bought and I cannot recommend it enough if you play grunge and nirvana music.Preston
