Received it with no foam or springs under the neck pickup, so the pickup pretty much rattled. Easy fix, but for over $3k? Bottom E string piezo didn't work. Real hard to set up with low (1mm on 12th fret) action, without buzz. Constantly goes out of tune, especially when using the trem. It sustained real well, and is beautiful, but it drove me crazy the first night I had it. Before you go on thinking I didn't set it up correctly, I worked for Leo Fender in the 80's, and have worked on guitars my whole life.Ernie K
Purchased this guitar in Polar Noir; I love how the everything is blacked out with just a little blong from the black chrome hardware. That said, its looks are flawless and the craftmanship is superb upon the closest inspection. The neck is very thin but extremely comfortable; well rounded edges and complements from the well-rounded stainless steel frets make playing an absolute joy. The guitar is not neck heavy; feels extremely rigid and does not sink regardless of the playing position. The curvature of the body favors the picking hand very well and will not hinder any style of picking. The electronics and hardware are perfect; no wobbly pickups or knobs, solid push-push function with smooth rotation, and pickup switching is effortless. You will immediately notice and appreciate the angles in which the piezo and magnetic switches are aligned. Only flaw; action came in high (~4mm off 12th fret), but was addressed with a proper truss rod adjustment, bridge action adjustment, and high e adjustment. Good thing I setup my own instruments, or I'd be no less than flustered right now.
The Music Man Majesty is gorgeous. It is also hands down the most comfortable and most fun guitar I have ever played! They are worth every bit of praise they get. And I will absolutely be buying the 7 string version. (And the rumored 8 string should it come to reality???) American Musical supply is also a huge help in this purchase. I play guitar in a hobby cover band that occasionally gigs. In my 20 years of guitar playing, I have never played a guitar that sounds as amazing and feels as nice as the JP15, even those disgustingly expensive PRSs and custom shop Gibsons. The neck is silky smooth. All the hardware has a solid feel: knobs, switches, tremolo, tuning packs, and so forth. I love how the guitar can provide a full range of sounds. The neck pickup is well rounded. The dual setting sounds just as snappy as a Strat with the single coil switch engaged. The bridge pickup has a sharp (but not harsh) attack and cuts through the mix. I didn't think I would use the boost switch as much as I do. It gives you just a bit more bite or feedback, if you want to add that sort of thing to your solos. Overall, the JP15 produces a beautiful crisp tone. The guitar is visually stunning.The color is a bit darker than it appears online (see picture), but that's a good thing because it contrasts well with the chrome hardware. The only complaint I have about the guitar is the case. It's a soft leather, and it's hard to load into my trunk with all my gear without wearing the leather corners off on the rough carpet. Plus, the latches are just a little misaligned so you have to work at it to close the case. These are minor in the grand scheme of things, but they should be noted on a $3000+ guitar.Eddie

This guitar is nearly perfect in every way! The decibel booster and coil split functions are super easy to use when all you have to do is push instead of pull. The craftsmanship is impeccable! I'm a big Floyd Rose fan and was a little skeptical about the Music Man tremolo, but paired with the Schaller locking tuners, this thing holds as good a tuning as my original Floyd's do. I'm able to dive bomb, flutter and scream with this thing! I'm a huge fan of Jason Richardson and am very impressed with this signature/custom guitar. I'm not a fan of artist's signature instruments, but this guitar is definitely built for musicians who want to encompass a wide range of sounds without sacrificing playability. I only say it is nearly prefect because I wish it came with all of the tools to fine tune the instrument(had to tighten the swing of the tremolo arm) and did not come with the specifications of how or what is needed to make these adjustments. This is my first 7 string in 20 years and my first guitar over $1200 and it is absolutely amazing! Worth every penny. It looks better in person than in the pictures. The onboard boost is amazing! Very versatile as well, you can get anything from single coil sounds to full on high gain humbuckers, from jazz/blues to freaking metal! I’m not even a big metal player, I mainly wanted the 7th string for more range and to inspire some more creativity. I should have gotten a 7 a long time ago. The strings don’t go out of tune even when you dive bomb all the way down. I’ve only tuned it maybe 3 times in the last month and I’ve played it almost everyday. I play 7 Strings and needed one with a trem for my bands for gigs and this has everything I need. With a non locking trem I can play the songs that require it as well as drop the low E to D without unlocking and it stays in tune great. The push, push on the volume adds a nice boost when needed for leads and the push, push on the tone to single coils is great for cleans an lower gain. Neck is fast and has easy access to the higher frets. Been using it for practices so far and it doesn’t disappoint in any way. As soon as I opened the gig bag I was hooked! The finish is amazing! The seven string neck feels just slightly larger than a 6 string. I have played some seven strings that feel like they are 6 string basses. But this only took a couple of minutes and I felt at home on the neck. The 12db boost cuts through when you need the extra bite for that solo, or just want to elevate a bit over the back line. Veteran 7-string players should absolutely love this! I've held off on buying one for years because they seemed painfully heavy and (to be honest) a little intimidating. Not to mention, setting up floating trems on 6-string guitars is bad enough! However, I am very very happy I took a chance on this one. The instrument is unbelievably lightweight and comfortable to play. In addition, I am really appreciating access to the lower register without big bulky heavy strings (it helps keep notes crisp and distinguishable). This is an in excellent condition 2015 majesty 7. plays like a dream. i'm only selling as i'm thinning out my collection a bit. there are no dents or blemishes anywhere on the guitar. in fact, its spent most of its non-playing time in a case. no gigging. there are very minor hard to see hairline "scratches" where your fingers rest just below the pickups, between them and the selector switch. hard not to find on guitars which have been played. see the close up photos. sad to see it go, but it deserves a good home! comes with original music man hardshell case.

Overall: I gotta say this is the best guitar I've ever had my hands on, and I've had my hands on some wild instruments!! When I first opened up the Rock Solid Case (SKB Style), I was blown away by how gorgeous the guitar looked. The translucent green and the high quality flamed maple shield just stood out, the fretboard was black, like how I always pictured an ebony fretboard should look!! I don't think there should be that moment where you are like "hmmm is that rosewood??", ebony should just stick out like a sore thumb. Once I was able to get past taking in how the guitar looked, I was again shook by how light the guitar is, not only that, but ergonomic to the bone!!! The guitar arrived slightly tuned down, and I sadly never had any experience with locking tuners so when I loosened them to tune the guitar, all three higher strings fell off :(. I now know how to use them though, and after a restring and setup (I did by myself, and super easy by the way) the guitar action is incredibly low, and plays like a dream, super silky neck which was awesome, since I'm used to playing high line Ibanez necks. I only really have 2 gripes about this guitar, and one of them is the pickups, I know that it is a Petrucci Signature guitar, and it's set to his specs, but I've never been a fan of DiMarzio, and it's sad that the pups don't even say "DiMarzio" on them, but even though they sound good, they are not for me.. I prefer something tighter with more sustain, I'll be changing them out with a set of Lundgren M7 pups. Finally the only other gripe I have is that the guitar didn't come with any sort of tools to adjust it, for a guitar that costs this much, I feel they should have included some starter tool kit so you could adjust everything which needed to be adjusted. But honestly with how the guitar plays, and looks, and even sounds, then looking at how easy it was to set up, it's a no brainer!! If you are thinking of getting a majesty guitar, stop thinking, and just get it (if you can afford it), zZounds 12 payment plan makes it super easy!! Get it you won't be dissapointed!!Rob
The product is a great product, but for the quality issues. Both guitars I received had loose acoustic boards and the acoustic volume knob was rattling in the hole. The second one was obviously open box with a scratch on the neck (fingerboard) as well. For a guitar of this price to have such problems means that quality control is zero to none. It also means that the manufacturing staff is driven to complete the product, rather than take pride in their product, since this is so immediately noticeable that the person making it could not have not noticed it. I will never buy a music man again, until they fix that. PRS may be more expensive, but they are ALWAYS playable right out of the factory! (I only own 5)JamesC
Purchased this guitar in Polar Noir; I love how the everything is blacked out with just a little blong from the black chrome hardware. That said, its looks are flawless and the craftmanship is superb upon the closest inspection. The neck is very thin but extremely comfortable; well rounded edges and complements from the well-rounded stainless steel frets make playing an absolute joy. The guitar is not neck heavy; feels extremely rigid and does not sink regardless of the playing position. The curvature of the body favors the picking hand very well and will not hinder any style of picking. The electronics and hardware are perfect; no wobbly pickups or knobs, solid push-push function with smooth rotation, and pickup switching is effortless. You will immediately notice and appreciate the angles in which the piezo and magnetic switches are aligned. Only flaw; action came in high (~4mm off 12th fret), but was addressed with a proper truss rod adjustment, bridge action adjustment, and high e adjustment. Good thing I setup my own instruments, or I'd be no less than flustered right now.

Love the guitar. It is light, well balanced and feels like a dream. The neck is super fast and will spoil you, when you go back to your other guitars. This guitar is capable of a broad range of unique tones, with bright tones that can be fine tuned for just enough of a different tone, or all out different. First off let me begin with this. Buy this guitar. It is the best guitar I have ever owned in my 30+ years as a guitar player. My dream guitar has always been a cross between a Gibson Les Paul, PRS, a Parker Fly, A Charvel, and a Fender Strat. This guitar is that, Pure and Definitive Tone. If your the kind of guitar player that plugs in and just solos and tone isn't that much of an issue, this will be way too much guitar for you. This guitar sounds great clean or dirty and really completes my sound. Thank God someone got the tremolo system right! It does what every you want when you want and how you want it without a hitch. If your the Metallica type player, there are other options for that kind of sound. But if you want great harmonics and fantastic tone and think your ready to handle a guitar of this caliber, then this is a must buy. Bottomline is this, I have owned many guitars over my life that really cant offer me the tone and sound I hear in my head, but I think this guitar with a bit more time adjusting will be the perfect guitar for soul shredders and heavy thrashers. Period.
The first jp6 with piezo that I received had some noise issues when switched to piezo pickups. I called ernie ball, did my research and turns out the piezos were not good. After a point I could no longer hear anything when switched to piezos. Sent my guitar back and received a new jp6 with piezo. Turned out its piezos also had problems, not all of them but the one on the A string. Plus its G string was going out of tune all the time. I called ernie ball to ask about their piezo pickups on jp6 and I was told that the whole piezo system was revised and the jp6 models that are manufactured after november 2013 have the new system. The ones that I received I think was before that date. So be careful if you're buying with piezo because apparently they have serious issues and you got to see if the guitar you're ordering is an old version. You can give the serial number to ernieball and they'll tell you when it was manufactured. At the end I received a full refund and bought jp6 without piezo and I'm very happy now. I wish it could have piezos but I no longer trust music man's piezo pickups, esp for old guitars. However, this is still a great company and I love my current jp6 without the piezos. And of course I'm very happy and thank to musician friend for helping me in this process. It was really easy to exchange the guitar for a new one and get the refund after etc. The guys that I talked to were really nice and tried to help. Thank you musicians friendsaLc

Overall: Overall, I love feel of this guitar, I wasn’t sure what to expect from sterling but the overall quality is really really good. The smoothest knobs I’ve ever felt and the push push option is great. The only reason I didn’t give this all 5 stars are the pickups. They are not bad by any means and the cleans tones are great. But for heavy music the bridge pickup is really lacking clarity. If you tune down the top string is just muddy and not defined no matter how you eq. At low volumes it’s is fine but as soon as it’s cranked the lows just sound mushy. I will swap out the bridge pick up. And keep this guitar for a very long time.

I love this guitar. The color viola is awesome and looks great with the gold hardware. The wood is so smooth on the back of the neck your hand just glides with ease up and down the fretboard. I was on the fence about picking up the jp 15 because of the rave reviews about the oil finish but the majesty artisan neck is amazing and the upper fret access is 2nd to none. The peizio system took some getting used to, but once I got the adjustments on the back dialed in it gave me an awesome option for my clean tones that no other Electric I have played can produce. I can not stop playing this guitar it inspires me to wake up early and get a practice session in before work everyday. I would buy this guitar again in the blink of an eye.Sam

Received it with no foam or springs under the neck pickup, so the pickup pretty much rattled. Easy fix, but for over $3k? Bottom E string piezo didn't work. Real hard to set up with low (1mm on 12th fret) action, without buzz. Constantly goes out of tune, especially when using the trem. It sustained real well, and is beautiful, but it drove me crazy the first night I had it. Before you go on thinking I didn't set it up correctly, I worked for Leo Fender in the 80's, and have worked on guitars my whole life.Ernie K

The Music Man Majesty is gorgeous. It is also hands down the most comfortable and most fun guitar I have ever played! They are worth every bit of praise they get. I am the admitted novice with more money than sense. However, I have had the good fortune of playing a lot of nice guitars. I love the feel of this neck! The shape is perfect, I would say on the smaller and flatter side which makes it very easy to play. But the feel of the neck is just amazing. The Piezo pickups are very cool, but I picture myself using just the magnets most often, but there are some cool sounds to be had. Sounds great, and the build quality of MM is top notch. My only complaint was a fair amount of fret buzz out of the box, which was fixed with a slight adjustment of the truss rod…very minor complaint, but for a guitar in this price range just a thought. Decided to save up for 1 “great” guitar. Narrowed it down to this and a high end LP. Have zero regrets about choosing the JP15. Playability is off the charts and I haven’t even began to pull all the different tones out of the humbuckers, let alone blending the piezo in. I can’t recommend this highly enough, get one if you can!

I love this guitar. The color viola is awesome and looks great with the gold hardware. The wood is so smooth on the back of the neck your hand just glides with ease up and down the fretboard. I was on the fence about picking up the jp 15 because of the rave reviews about the oil finish but the majesty artisan neck is amazing and the upper fret access is 2nd to none. The peizio system took some getting used to, but once I got the adjustments on the back dialed in it gave me an awesome option for my clean tones that no other Electric I have played can produce. I can not stop playing this guitar it inspires me to wake up early and get a practice session in before work everyday. I would buy this guitar again in the blink of an eye.Sam

Received it with no foam or springs under the neck pickup, so the pickup pretty much rattled. Easy fix, but for over $3k? Bottom E string piezo didn't work. Real hard to set up with low (1mm on 12th fret) action, without buzz. Constantly goes out of tune, especially when using the trem. It sustained real well, and is beautiful, but it drove me crazy the first night I had it. Before you go on thinking I didn't set it up correctly, I worked for Leo Fender in the 80's, and have worked on guitars my whole life.Ernie K
2019 made full gloss Majesty's finally! And I was so happy I bought 2. One 7 string in standard and one 7 string a whole step down. They feel and sound like a $3000+ guitar. Ernie Ball also pay their employees a living wage in the bay area there is expensive to live. The fret work they do is Insane! I traded 10+ import guitars of other brands and have no regrets just love my Majesty's.ClanOfHouseCats
Beautifully built guitar. Love the gloss finish compared to previous models. Guitar has a fast neck that's satin finished. The controls were a tad "sticky" until used for a day. Sound and feel is amazing but darker than previous models. Only true issue I've had is tuning stability which I'm sure could be relieved by lubing the nut.JW

This is Ernie Ball Musicman’s ‘Sterling’ range of guitars so named after Sterling Ball the CEO . Offered up as a cheaper more affordable alternative range to their fabulous guitars . But don’t let ‘cheaper’ put you off . The quality and playability is still superb. This particular model is reverse engineered from John Petrucci’s ‘full fat’ version of his renown ‘Majesty’ guitars. Similarly as with the SE range of PRS guitars there is a slight difference in quality and features but again don’t let that put you off . If your finances don’t let you run to a ‘Full Fat’ Majesty then get one of these Sterlings . This model is finished in ‘Cerulean Paradise’ and is beautiful. Very similar to its big brother in ‘Purple Nebula’ . I now own both the far more expensive Purple Nebula , costing 4 times as much , and this Sterling model and both are awesome to play , look at , and to own .Gary R.
First off, it is a beautiful guitar. The stainless steel frets make a huge difference when bending strings and he locking tuners makes replacing/changing strings a piece of cake. The DiMarzio Crunch Lab and LiquiFire pickups are sound great with plenty of punch. Couldn't be happier, unless of course it was the actual American made Majesty. But seriously, for the price difference, the Sterling by Music Man version is killer!Uncle Woody
I wasn’t sure about this guitar, the reviews I saw was bad a lot of people complain for this guitar, my opinion it’s one of the best guitar I ever tried, sounds amazing plays awesome, looks stunning, it’s very versatile, clean sound it’s beautiful great, it chugs and high quality sound, it’s a hidden Gem, petrucci knows his deal it’s a perfect guitar!Charles
