Based on the CONS people have listed here, after 55 years of playing everything from Folk to Country to Praise and Worship on everything from my first 'cross-the-border, nylon-string classical to the Big Boys' Strats and my big-bowl 1976 Balladeer, I guess I must still be tone deaf and have no feel for an instrument because I liked this guitar from the moment I saw it, felt it, played it, and heard it. Not being the most expensive guitar on the rack, I did not expect it to be perfect. But, I have been greatly and very positively surprised at how close it is to meeting my every criteria. I have a full-size hollow body that cost me a bunch more and the tone variation from Neck PUP to Bridge PUP on the Wildkat is so much better! The volume balance between the PUPs is spot on. However, I purposely did not buy the Bigsby-equipped model: not because of expected tuning issues but because I like a clean appearance and the Bigsby really loads this little guy up! And, replace the P90s with 'buckers? Wow, I bought the Wildkat SPECIFICALLY for the P90s! Seems there is no explaining differences in taste. I applaud you all for your own musical and tonal discernment and for your comments! My summary? If you are looking for a fun guitar with great sound, this is your baby!Brother Lou
I purchased the blue royale model and, there is a review for that one. Super Guitar but, the blue just didn't do it for me so I ended up selling it to a guy that loved the blue color and, he was in heaven and, he a got a nice instrument. It wasn't but a short time and, I started missing the whole guitar except the blue color so I got the wine red Wildkat, I guess I'm kind of a red guy because I have several guitars in shades of red. This wine red color is stunning and, all the chrome hardware is a perfect match. I also have a Riviera in wine red but, it has gold hardware and, this guitar is a thing of beauty in looks and sound but, lets get back to the Wildkat. The semi hollow with the P90's is what sold me in the first place. The Bigsby vibrato is very cool, in all my years of playing I never touched a Bigsby until this one and, I like it very much. I have not had any problems with tuning. With a new guitar the strings must be stretched and, retuned a few times or there will be tuning problems as the same with restringing. Also lube the string slots in the nut and bridge and, that goes for any guitar with a vibrato. I usually use a No2 lead pencil and, run it in the grooves that's it. This is a semi hollow guitar but, it comes very close to being hollow as in the picture I've posted. That's why this guitar has the sound that it does. I've played it through every amp that I have, Fender Twin Reverb to a small practice amp and, it sounds Great through every one. The electronics are a little different but, it doesn't take long to get used to it. I'm always up for a challenge anyway. I am very pleased with this guitar as I was with the blue one but, red is my color. I would highly recommend this guitar to anybody looking for that something different in a guitar as I was. I have noticed that P90's are showing up more and, more with artists on TV, videos and, in magazines, must be a reason! Give it a try, you'll be pleasantly surprised.terrygh
This is really a Great guitar. I was looking for something different, something that I didn't have. A semi hollow with P90's and a Bigsby and, a beautiful color! I had to do a little setup, the normal stuff I always do with any guitar that I own, action, a litttle truss rod tweak, slight adjustment of pickup screws, intonation was perfect, stretched the new strings a few times with retuning and, that was it. Play time! The only way I could get this guitar out of tune was to work at it. Normal playing with string bending and subtle use of the Bigsby which is the way it was meant to be used yeilded Great results and, no tuning issues. The Bigsby is meant to be used like the vibrato on the Fender Jazzmaster and Jaguar (subtle) If you're a divebomber with a vibrato get something with a Floyd Rose and, go from there. The P90's definately have a different sound than Humbuckers that's what makes them what they are. If you experience a hum or 60 cycle buzz, be sure your amp is plugged into a grounded receptacle, It does make a difference. Nice feel, Good balance, Vintage sound, these Royale Wildkats are superior made guitars. Highly recommend one if you're looking for that something different guitar. I'm a P90 guy because P90s sing loud and clear – no rumble. So, I bought this Wildkat – P90s, sound, looks, finish, feel, balance. I love it. A friend of mine bought one of theses and loves it. So I decided to buy one. I got the Gold finish and could not be happier. The set up out of the box was pretty good, the strings being a bit low for my tastes but nice. It has a nice round sound with no fret buzz at all. I played it through different amps and it comes alive through my Marshall. It also sounds really good with the Boss GT-8. This one is a keeper. Don't let the low price fool you, this is a great guitar. Way to go Epi.Fender man
To start, I've been playing guitar for over 26 years & own over 20 guitars. In that time I've played a lot of axes and periodically will add a new one to the collection. I had my eye on this one for quite a while, but the model with the Bigsby was just not for me. (I wasn't interested in the trouble I have with my Gretsch always going out of tune with the Bigsby) So when I saw this one, I knew I needed to try it out. I went to GC & bought this guitar about 6 months ago. The appearance is beautiful. The hardware & guitar body is of excellent quality. (You can feel that it is a quality guitar when you're handling it) The neck is wide, but I like that feel. The things that may be a matter of preference would be the following: (1) The weight of the guitar….it is a quality guitar that makes it a bit heavier than your average axe. (2) The hollow body sound: I personally think it sounds great, but then again, not everyone may agree. (3) The pick-ups. These babies are awesome!! I love them!! Definitely not your dual humbucker or SSS sound. These things are in a league of their own. Again, this may not be to everyone's liking. Conclusion? Great all around guitar at an exceptionally low price. If you've been admiring this beauty from afar, get in to try one out. If you appreciate good classic tone, you'll love this instrument.FreakyBro

I love this Casino. I knew I wanted a P-90, and I really wanted a fully hollow body. I wanted to see if I could replicate a I've been agonizing over the purchase for months, looking for every possible solution, and was almost ready to pull the trigger on the Epi USA version, and after MUCH research, finally decided to go with the regular Epiphone. The construction, from everything I read, is excellent, and I knew that if necessary, I could always switch out the pups. Well, I can't say enough about how good this guitar is! I am extremely fussy on setups (I do setups on my own guitars and for other people) and this thing was ready to play right out of the box! I literally didn't touch a thing except to tune it up. I won't even have to dress the frets. I may touch them up just a bit (again, I'm really fussy) but they feel better than most guitars that cost three times as much. It is really beautiful. I love the vintage sunburst. The finish is flawless. Now for the important part – it plays like a dream. The neck profile is extremely comfortable. I can move up and down the neck as fluidly as on any guitar I own. And the sound! I was amazed at how present it is, even before plugging it in. I see this little sweetheart spending a lot of evenings on the couch with me. Soft enough not to overly bother my wife, but again – very present. Plugged in – well lets just say I won't be replacing these pups. It is exactly the sound I was hoping for. I'm no Grant Green, but I can certainly understand why he loved this guitar. Would I recommend it? Heck yeah! Country? Check. Classic rock? Check. Rockabilly, surf, blues and even jazz? Check, check, check, and check.Jess
This thing is easily worth 4 times the price. The build quality is impeccable. The binding is perfectly flush, the finish is beautiful and evenly applied and the intonation was extremely close out of the box (I only had to move the G string saddle back a bit to set it, all the other strings were perfect). The headstock has a nice molded profile to the sides – this is something I haven't seen on other Epiphone guitars. The PRO p90 pickups are fantastic. I have 11 other electrics from an epi 335 to a Gibson Les Paul Traditional to modded teles and strats and I never could quite find that classic clear tone with a thick rich drive when you dig into it that I've been looking for – this Casino has that sound! Every website/listing likes to talk about the Beatles… that comparison doesn't speak to what this guitar is capable of. This is more in line with Gary Clark Jr., The Black Crowes, Jack White and The Allman Brothers Band sounds. Think rich, bluesy rock. It's much cooler than "the Beatles guitar". Plug this sucker into a Vox and you're in business. The C shape neck is very comfortable- it has a flat back with rounded sides. Plus, with the satin finish your hand moves more freely up and down the neck. It's nice to play unplugged too, it's fully hollow so it plays/sounds like a quieter acoustic unplugged. The knobs/pots are really cool looking and work great with no scratching. They have even adjustments – no quick falls after a certain number like you see with others in this price range. They have a cool old school tab to show where you are on the dial (no pictures show this little detail). All in all – super cool vintage vibe, sweet clean tone with a fun roaring bite on the gain – excellent guitar.
Had the money to buy any guitar in the shop. Liked the looks of the SG, worn ebony with rosewood fingerboard and the Gibson speed knobs. Having only played guitars with 9.5 radius, I found the 14 radius was better for bar chords. The craftsmanship is excellent, can find no flaws the body or neck. The truss rod was out of adjustment, considerable back-bow. I fixed that, and set the action low. The intonation was spot on. Frets were polished with no sharp edges. I plan to upgrade the cheap electronics with new pots. As for the pickups, they sound ok. Since I use a modeling amp, not a big issue for me. The nut is a GraphTech synthetic bone. Nice touch for an inexpensive guitar, since i do not like changing them out…too much risk of damage. I have fender Strat and Tele, but have not put this down since purchasing it. Once I upgrade the electronics, this will be a very solid guitar.Jeff

Overall: A couple of weeks ago, I was looking at buying the Gibson les Paul Standard 60's Bourbon Burst for $2,499.00, as I was doing my research checking out reviews when I came across a side by side review of the Gibson verses the Epiphone les Paul standard 60s. The similarities in quality and sound were eye opening, still skeptical I thought to myself, I owe to myself to at lest checkout the Epiphone les Paul standard 60s what's the worst that could happen, if I don't like it ill send it back and order the Gibson. Well I'm here to say I don't JUST like it, I ABSOLUTLY LOVE IT. Right out of the box I was super impressed with the look and feel of this guitar with the flamed maple top to the deep rich cherry back and sides, I sat down tuned it up plugged it into my amp. I went from being impressed to ka-ching I hit the jack pot. You know after I bought this guitar and before it arrived I had that feeling of buyers remorse, thinking that I somehow compromised and I should have bought the Gibson. Well the first few licks on this guitar and all that washed away instantly. This guitar has it all, value, quality, sound, playability and the flamed maple top…. just wow…!!!!! thank you zZounds and Epiphone for this fantastic les Paul.
I just received this guitar a few days ago. It's already my favorite. Love the slim taper neck, and the probucker pickups are great. The pickups are fine on clean tones, but where they really shine is when the gain is cranked up. Build quality is very good, and it's a beautiful instrument. I prefer a rosewood fretboard, but find the Indian laurel to be completely acceptable. Only 2 negatives: 1. No coil splitting option, 2. it's a heavy guitar. This doesn't matter much to me because as a hobbyist, I typically play sitting down. But I can see that if you play standing, this could get tiring after a while. But these are minor quibbles – overall I'm very pleased with my purchase. Finally,kudos to Dave Hoffman, who held my hand during the 3 month period it took to get a new shipment in.
I bought one of these several months ago. Ok I'm not good guitarist so take that into into consideration but I have player series strat and have always played strat style guitars and I'm not saying i love this guitar more than the Fender I love them both but as far as the guitar is concerned she got so much potential tonally. I have no complaints about the ascetic she beautiful sexy gorgeous took a little getting used to the weight and contours compared to the strat there is adjustment period but she just rocks. I never played a Gibson but if this guitar had Gibson I guess it be a little better but also 2grand more. If I have any complaint is she is finger print magnet always wiping down get some dunlop 65 and microfiber cloth. The Glossy neck won't appeal to all but I can deal with it. Fret work perfect. I'm not a gigging musician but i have no doubt she gig worthy. Oh also, get the pro coverage cause I found out ALL Les Paul are extremely fragile at the neck,It has to do with the angle of the neck, Google it, do your research on owning a led Paul little different than strat anyway the guitar is 600-GREAT VALUE then with 2 years pro coverage plus tax it was under 900 or somewhere around there. And if you get a bad quality then ask for another cause it is coming from Asia so there is variability in workmanship but mine is PERFECT. If I ever get rich maybe ill buy a Gibson but for now this satisfy my Les Paul needs. I wanted an alternative to my strat to emulate Slash sound lol I need to work on my technique but this definitely rocks a Les Paul sound. I did see a review or 2 that liked the sound of the 1950 better but I played them both and liked the 60s better but check them both out the inspired by Gibson line is definitely worth the money if you want a Les Paul without breaking the bank. Overall: This is my umpteenth Epiphone custom sg guitar ive bought since the last guitar i had which was the more lower end 61 standard i bought here used last year. The caps pots and Gibson USA burstbuckers are definitely a step up in the right direction and are true to the original reissue Sg standards back in the beginning of the Gibson sg. It sounds like a 2000 dollar Gibson reissue sg but at Epiphone import prices. I intend on keeping this guitar for a lifetime and is a good backup guitar to my similarly pricef esp ltd viper 1000 deluxe i bought a year ago from a competitor in the now disconnected tiger eye finish from zZounds. Lastly i also intend on getting a real Gibson sg custom 63 version used for a discounted price. One more thing i might buy a backup les Paul sg standard by Epiphone just in case this one gets stolen or lost. Thank you Epiphone custom for stepping up your game and making better sg custom shop guitars than in the past. The black Epiphone sg custom with gold hardware is no joke either and i might another one when i get done paying for this Les Paul sg standard first fron here.Isaac
I got this guitar in sparkling burgundy and the finish is beautiful. The workmanship on this guitar is great; it feels very high quality. The fretwork is also really good, with no fret ends sticking out to cut my hands. That being said, the pickups are not very good. I initially debated purchasing the guitar since it sounded very ice-picky and thin when I played it in the store. But I decided to take a chance, knowing the return policy that GC has. I brought it home and the first thing I did was go over it completely. The fretboard was very dry. Even my wife, who doesn't play guitar, looked at it and commented on that. So removed the strings and polished the frets and cleaned/conditioned the fretboard. Then I swapped out the Alnico Classic Pro pickups, which are rather bad, and put in a set of Probucker 2/3 pickups that I had sitting around. Better strings, polished frets, and some nicer alnico 2 pickups made a huge difference. It sounds full and thick and warm, and it plays like an angel. I highly recommend it, as long as you can swap out the pickups.Robert
I've had the guitar for almost a month now & decided to do the review after I had it for a while. Quality control on this guitar was not very good. There was a chip by the 22nd fret near the upper horn that was overlooked because it has the final coating sprayed over it. There is also a scratch on the headstock at the G string tuner, it looks like someone overtightened the nut & scrated the headstock with a nut driver. Plus there is some black paint that ran into the binding on the top part of the headstock. Also there is a nick/scratch on the pickguard right below the neck pickup. The guitar plays well, and it looks good except for the imperfections I expalined earlier. I took pictures of what I complained in case someone at AMS would like to see them. I'm not sure of the return policy for guitars or if this could be returned for another guitar of the same kind I have. In the end the playability has met expectations but the quality control was far below expectations. I am both surprised and please with this guitar I purchased this guitar at GC Nashville after returning a Gibson Les Paul Classic that I bought online. (lesson learned, don't buy from GC online.) The staff there were great and had no issues with me returning a $2200 guitar that I bought online. Even more supportive in helping me pick out a much less expensive guitar. Great people. This Epiphone is awesome. The fit and finish are great. The action is low and no buzz. The tone is great and It is lighter and easier to handle than the Gibson . The best part is it cost a third of the one I returned. I really wanted a Gibson but I am so glad I picked up this Epiphone. A word of caution. I looked at and played several guitars at GC before choosing this one. I even played a couple of other Epiphone Les Paul Customs. No two were the same. One had razors for frets, one had an action you could drive a truck under and this one was just right. Go in an play them before buying.Mike
I bought one on a whim cause I'm a sucker for SIlverbursts, then when I got it was so blown away by it I ordered a second to do a little modifying on. I own multiple high end guitars from PRS, Gibson, Ibanez, Shecter and ESP and some lower end fiddles from LTD and Epiphone. Up until this point I wouldnt say Epiphone was a bad guitar company but they were not on par with other brands in the same price range. Without a doubt you would need to replace the nut, do fret work, and most likely change out the electronics and sometimes even the tuners. My Slash Rosso Corso needed tuners, nut and fret work to make it a solid guitar. My Bjorn Gelotte custom needed frets and nut. Out of the box these 2 guitars need NOTHING!! They came setup perfectly fine for most players but they were not to my liking. After adjusting the neck, the action, the tailpiece and then finally the pickup height and pole pieces these 2 guitars are simply amazing and have become the first one I reach for. The stock pickups are really good but sensitive to height. The action is right there with my Les Paul Standard. One needed a little lube on the nut as the G string was pining. The resonance that translates through the bodies of these guitars is killer making them solid rock machines. Epiphone has really knocked it out of the park with this model. They sound exactly how a rocking Gibson Les Paul should. Also as soon as I grabbed the neck it immediately felt like my old 1986 Gibson LP Custom Silverburst and Ive never had another guitar, Gibson or otherwise, feel as good. If you're thinking about this guitar, buy it, its limited and its that good!Shane
This is my second 6 string electric, and I couldn't be HAPPIER with it! My first guitar is an entry level Epiphone SG Special that was a couple hundred bucks back in the day. It got the job done…good frets, good tune, good everything. I recently decided to step it up and get a "mid-range" guitar but still not break the bank with an Epiphone. And I'm not calling Epiphone cheap…they are just more in my price range when compared to Gibsons. Stepping it up is the right description for this guitar!! It is AMAZING! The feel, the tone, the look! It sounds great and feels good in the hands too. I especially love the Silverburst color!! The main reason I wanted this specific guitar. It's Adam Jones from TooL color scheme finish but on an epiphone! They are coming out with his own model of epiphone, but I'm impatient lol. Looks are important to picking out a guitar as much as sound! The inlays on the fretboard look beautiful. The pick guard and finish are beautiful, the trim/binding around the guitar… this guitar has reignited my passion for playing! As of this writing, I have no complaints! Excellent guitar!Matt

I was kind of apprehensive about buying this because it was so inexpensive. However I thought with a solid ash body, maple neck, And rosewood finger board if it was decent how could you go wrong. All I can say is wow! There were absolutely no flaws that I could find! Set up was great right out of the box. The neck has a flatter radius than a fender strat, for me that makes playing it easier because of my large hands. Feels and plays at least as well as the mim strat I had a number of years ago. Frets were dressed nicely and there were no fret sprouts at all. Satin finish on the neck makes playing a dream.Marc
This guitar is amazing. It's built with good woods, and the workmanship is almost perfect (One minor flaw.) This guitar is a very good deal. I like the maple neck, because of the sturdiness of maple (How many Gibson and Epiphone headstocks have you seen snap off ?) Using maple, for the neck, along with a Fender style design around the headstock make this guitar look sturdy. The sound of the guitar is just lovely. I play jazz (no distortion or string bending.) The tone is clear, but with a thickness (fullness) with the stock pickups. The tuners are good. All in all, I call this a heck of a deal. The neck profile on this guitar is a little thicker than the Squiers.Ken
I have read good reviews about this guitar, but the real thing turned out to be above my expectations. I own Gibson and PRS guitars and was curious how this ~$150 version stands in comparison. And to my amazement it rocks no bad at all. Craftsmanship and performance are very good out of the box w/o adjustments and settings, just tune a bit, plug and play. Considering the price there are lot of options to upgrade, but I will keep it as is for now. Monoprice service was also remarkable. Guitar was delivered in 3 days, new in factory box and perfect condition. It comes with Indio tailored padded gig bag, very handy. Great guitar to start music journey for beginner, pretty good for intermediate player like myself. Highly recommend.Vladimir

Indeed , the Epiphone Emperor Swingster guitar is certainly not a "Gretsch White Falcon" . To me , because I just believe , for "the money" , Epiphone guitars and the other instruments Epiphone manufactures , such as mandolins , as well as amplifiers , also, , are just fine , fine things , properly priced . The "dedicated" factories in Java (Indonesia) as well as the dedicated guitar manufacturing "factory" in China ,are producing , in my humble opinion , again , some seriously excellent guitars . The "Masterbilt Century collection" of fine "arch top" guitars , and the "pro" line of guitars , or "Elitist" models , "inspired by" and "signature" models as well , are , to me , just great , great things , to me . , as well as the Swingster Emperors are …well , to me , they are unreal . Indeed , try one or 3 , and tell me I am incorrect in my assessment . You will not be able to "tell me I am incorrect" . I certainly believe that statement . Its something I've wanted for 10yrs or so, it sounds like a gretch, plays like a Gibson + its built to a very high standard in Korea, I'd wanted the Gretch noise but not the Gretch build as the bridges move around on them the Swingster's is pinned, also with split coils, I don't need 2different hollow bodies for single/humbucking sounds, in short, I love it! Absolutely fantastic instrument! Low action, light strings, and very easy to play. Even when it isn’t plugged into an amp, it sounds crisp and resonant. 10. Epiphone Sg Standard 61 Maestro Vibrola Electric Guitar Vintage Cherry

Selling my 2019 epiphone sg maestro. this is the inspired by gibson line introduced last year and they are actually really great guitars. i am going to upgrade to a gibson sg 61 reissue so this one needs to go. this is a light sg with really great epiphone humbuckers. i forget the name of the pickup modelbut they were retooled for this guitar line. the pickups are surprisingly balanced and really well voiced for a guitar in this price range. the guitar sounds great clean and has the sg growl when pushed. it really is a great sounding guitar this guitar has the throwback larger epiphone head stock. i am including a soft fender backpack case with this guitar. any questions please let me know.

11. Epiphone Les Paul Modern Electric Guitar – Faded Pelham Blue

In almost mint condition. no visible scratches or dings. a little dusty from me not playing it much, and it hanging on the wall. the fretboard is well conditioned, and there is a pair of .11 gauge elixir strings on it.i put excellent condition on the list because the output jack broke on me literally 2 weeks after owning it(straight from the factory), but i quickly got it repaired by a professional luthier. besides that, this guitar plays and sounds wonderful. i also am selling this for this price because i'm giving the official epiphone case i bought separately with it. it's a new case, barely used, in amazing condition just like the guitar. so this is the epiphone les paul modern with the official epiphone les paul case.

I am basically play for my own entertainment, and this LP Modern is rapidly becoming my favorite, even though I also really like my G&L Tele and Strat models. The shorter scale makes a difference and I find the neck fits my hand really nicely. The sound is great, as is the finish. Having said that, I would have given it 5 stars, but my guitar came with 5 areas of light scratches and scuffs, including under the protective plastic on the pick guard, but I was able to polish all of them out to where all but one area is completely gone. The worst spot was by the toggle switch, which is all but disappeared and probably with a little more polishing, would go away completely. I didn't want to take the chance of going thru the clear, but am happy with the results. Someone else who is uncomfortable with that process may find it unacceptable, but I doubt those issues are common on Epiphones and MF's return/exchange policy would certainly cover that as I was assured if I wished to do so. The Sparkling Burgandy finish is a real eye catcher and now it makes me want to pick up the guitar and play it, which is the whole point. The added weight relief makes it enjoyable hanging on your shoulder. This is a very nice guitar for the price and then some. And Devan Miller has been great during the whole process and follow up. Very knowledgeable, patient, and extremely helpful in answering all my questions. Highly recommend him as a rep.Steve R
Overall: The Epiphone Les Paul Modern sounds great and looks amazing. The new/old Kalamazoo headstock is a game changer for the overall look of the instrument. With push/pull coil split and phase switching there are a wide variety of useful sounds over and above the traditional Les Paul. Any differences between Epiphone and Les Paul pickups can be compensated for with EQ, especially while using overdrive. There is a bit of noise similar to single coils when using the coil split function.The guitar came with a great setup from the factory. Action and intonation are about the best I have seen of any of the dozen or so guitars I have owned. Tuning stability is exceptional. This is noteworthy for an Epiphone as there are often issues with tuning stability on Gibson LP's due to the angle of the headstock being greater than the Epiphones. The locking tuners are an excellent upgrade, and should be standard on most guitars these days. Regarding quality control, I identified three high frets that are causing some minor fret buzz, but not enough to send it back. Some minor fret work will resolve this, but you should take this into consideration if you are not inclined to spend extra money on a brand new guitar for fret leveling. I have read that this is a common issue with 2020-2021 Epiphones. Fret ends have some sharpness to them. The black pickguard has a gap around the neck pickup. Not very noticeable unless you are looking for it, but I am not sure why this is an issue. I have seen it on other guitars of this model. Though it is an Epiphone, this seems to be one area that would not be difficult to fix in design. Finally, there are minor quality control issues on the finish mostly around the binding with paint bleed or similar. Overall, at this price point, the guitar is a great purchase for the hobbyist, considering the Gibson version will cost about $3,000. However, with so many quality guitar choices in the $1,000 price range, I am not sure I would pay much more for an Epiphone, and am glad they kept the price point in this range.Shanon
Overall: The Good: took a chance to save some money on a "blemished" deal. Have had good luck with these in the past with zZounds, and as before, could not find any blemishes in regard to the finish. The setup, however, was abyssal. Once setup, the guitar is fantastic. Lighter weight than my other Epi, and.my.Gibson. The Probuckers are amazing. Great clarity and I see or hear no reason to replace them. Liking them better than my 57+ classics. Black guitars and me don't get along, as I have always sold them off. The graphite black and plain back on this guitar is gorgeous. Most likely a keeper. Neck feel is perfect. Coil split and tone controls really make a difference. Many sounds can be had. May soon become my #1 guitar. Plays effortlessly. The Bad: guitar setup was non existent. Tuners were crooked, nut slots too high, pickup height too low, pick guard installed incorrectly, uneven frets, action set for limbo, and scratchy pots. After cutting deeper nut slots, leveling and crowning the frets, lowering the action, adjusting truss rod, readjusting tuning pegs and pick guard, spraying the pots, and installing quality knobs, the guitar is now fantastic. I can understand why it was returned as it took a lot of work to get it playable. Luckily, I do that all myself so no extra $. Sadly, although great luck with zZounds in the past, this will be my last order until either:1) zZounds offers shipping options other than FedEx. Or2) Fedex gets their s**t together and figures out how to deliver packages to the correct address, with accurate tracking, and without damage.

I got my Sheraton almost two years ago as a christmas gift, and I have played it more than any of my other guitars since then! It is a fantastic semihollow that feels perfectly suited to my playing style and my size (I'm 6'0"). It is comfortable to play sitting down or standing up, but I must say that for a semihollow, it is quite heavy. I love the classic twin humbucker, 4 knob, 3 way switch configuration. Usually I would use pedals to get my tones, but with this guitar I find myself just getting my amp to break up naturally, and play around with the tone knobs and volume knobs. I can get tons of different sounds that way, and I haven't used my pedalboard in a long time. My Sheraton in particular is quite bright, I don't know if all of them are like that, but mine is. This to me is great as I love bright guitars that can thicken up when turning the tone knob down. In fact, I keep my tone knobs turned down to about 7 or 8 90% of the time, and I turn them up when it's time to really dig in. I find that it can do blues comfortably, but it can also do hard rock and I even play fast Metallica songs complete with solos on it. When I got it, I immediately took off the not so great looking pickguard and put 11-50 strings on it. It was great out of the box, but I still needed to make a full setup just to get it to how I like my guitars set up. But still it felt too blingy for my personal taste, so I changed the gold screws on the pickup rings to black screws, and the gold knobs to vintage looking black ones. Now it looks so good that I sometimes catch a glimpse of it when sitting on my desk and feel the urge to go "oh yeah!" Some things that I don't like: the finish is quite plasticky and can get sticky after a while, plus it's not as perfect as I would have wanted. The neck has a very agressive thin shape that took me a while to get comfortable in, and still to this day will feel alien if I've been playing any of my other guitars. It is quite heavy, I haven't weighted it to see, but it is my heaviest guitar, and all of my other electrics are solidbodies. The pickup selector broke about two months in. Lastly, the split coils feel a bit useless to me, and the volume knobs have much less resistance to being turned than the tone knobs, which I imagine comes from the push pull functionality. But all of those are nitpicks for such a great guitar. I highly recommend the Sheraton. It is a fantastic guitar. Great sounds, great looks, and you get the classic ES-335 versatility that session musicians love. You really can't beat it at this price!
As with most people, I'm hesitant to buy guitars sight unseen through the mail. But with the current state of the world, that's becoming more and more the norm. Luckily the guitar arrived in absolutely perfect condition and set up nicely. The Red is really deep and rich. I know it's cliche, but the pictures really don't do it justice. I've been on a quest all these years for a guitar with a neck that properly fits my small hands and extremely short thumbs (nearly impossible to roll my thumb over the top of the neck ala Hendrix). I was torn between the Sheraton and the Casino, but decided on the Sheraton. When the next 48 month 0% promotion rolls around I may get the Casino as well. The tone of the Sheraton is very surprising for this price range. I also own a Clapton Strat (almost 3 times the price), and I absolutely enjoy the sound of the Sheraton more, as hard as that might be to believe. Obviously that is subjective. However, the place the Sheraton really shines for me is the neck! It fits my hands better than any other guitar I've ever played. Rolling my thumb over the top still isn't an easy proposition, but at least it's in reach (no pun intended), and with some practice I'll eventually get there. On the Strat it was impossible. I mainly play on the neck pickup, and it has a nice creamy, warm sound combined with my Blues Deluxe Reissue. I've never owned a 335 type guitar, as I always thought they were for jazz, but this guitar is very versatile. It's still a crapshoot with ordering through the mail, but I highly recommend the Sheraton if you (like me) can't afford a Gibson.Patrick B
Overall: Ive had this guitar a little over 24 hours now and cant put it down!! I got the blemished wine red model and the only blemish it had was a smidge of paint got on the binding where it meets the neck, i mean you had to really look close to see it and zZounds being the grandslam hitters that they are knocked 100 bucks off the price!!!I recieved it in a 1 1/2 days ( doesnt get any faster than that) and straight out of the box the action was perfect the intonation was spot on! The D string was maybe a cent out of tune. The guitar in wine red with the gold hardware is visually stunning, build quality you ask? Its built like a tank from the grover tuners, bone nut, loctone bridge and tail piece with a 3 way toggle you can litterally abuse and the probuckers sound amaZzing in full humbucker and coil split. This is a 1,000 + quitar with an intermediate price tag! Got to take a minute to shout out to the guys and gals at zZounds this is the third guitar that ive bought from them and they just keep knockin it out of the park!!! I will never shop for a guitar any where else you guys are first ballad hall of famers all the way!!! If your sick of the used car salesman approach and being followed around the lot, zZounds is the answer, they are the most professional ive ever dealt with period. I've been playing guitar for over 15 years. I got an 05' Gibson SG Standard for my 13th birthday. Over the years of influence in your ear about other guitars, you decide to dabble with different sounds and set ups. After playing a few strats, a ES-339, and a LP Standard over the years, I've always found myself to be happy at home with my SG. The 490R and 498T pickups are the best pickups Gibson made in my opinion. The versatility is astounding, ranging from jazz-fusion types like Larry Carlton, to the crunch of post hardcore, while pitching perfectly on iconic 70s solos and leads. Wether you're new to the Gibson family, or looking to add to your Arsenal, the SG Standard will forever please, and forever fit into any track.Jack
Absolutely love this guitar. It has taken the spot of my main Gibson for playing out. I alternate between this and my Dark Night American Pro II Stratocaster. The color schemes go well together and match my band's logo color scheme and branding so that's kind of a cool plus. I love the neck profile, the U shape is chunkier than a 60's Les Paul but is very comfortable in my hand and really reduces fatigue when I'm playing chords. I am still able to shred away with ease during solo time. I'm a huge fan of the nitro cellulous finish. I really like how the mahogany body resonates…I think it improves the tone. The QC, fit and finish on this guitar seems flawless to me. Gibson has really stepped up. Lastly, I want to comment on the soft case. I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. I was very surprised at how much padding there is and how plush it is on the inside. It is much more portable than a hard shell and honestly, with the shoulder strap….I may prefer it over the hard shell. It's easier to take to practice or a gig and the pocket has enough room for my wireless buds, iPod and foot controller (for iPod). I'm really stoked with my new SG, and I'd love to get one in white with gold hardware if AMS will ever offer it;-).Jon
Overall: This guitar showed up in need of a complete setup. Nothing was properly adjusted and setup, and I’m still not sure about the neck truss rod. Fortunately for me I know how to setup a guitar, however everything was out. When I set up a neck I usually adjust for .009” relief. I am unable get that with this neck probably because the truss rod was installed wrong at the factory. I might send this one back for that reason because if I ever go to a light gauge string I’d have to raise the action at the bridge so high it would be unplayable. As far as the CTS pots, they’re a very cheap version and they’re not very good. I replaced all of them with Bournes 500k pots and installed a Switchcraft jack. It definitely makes a big difference. Now that it’s been setup and fixed, except for the neck truss rod, it’s a great guitar. The Epiphone pickups sound great and the tuners are nice too. The finish is perfect and the stock hardware seems good. I certainly can recommend this guitar, but I feel zZounds should at least try and send these out in better condition. A setup like what I did would cost about $150. The last guitar I bought from zZounds was perfect, they let me down this time.Scott

The ESP EC-1000 is one of the best sub $1000.00 guitars on the market. I have two of these and they do not disappoint. Both of the EC's that I have are "B" Stock guitars, however it was very hard to find anything wrong at all. The color scheme on this one is outstanding! They are very picky with their guitars. Everything about these guitars scream high quality. Fit, finish, selection of wood, and electronics. best of all for me, these are not made in China. This is my first guitar. I've been playing the ESP since May 2022 I learned on a Squier Tele, and had an old Baltimore to practice on until I was ready to buy my own. Out of the box this guitar needed very little setup. This guitar definitely has an aggressive sound, and is easy to play. Great sustain. The only drawback is that I run through batteries. Beautiful finish, black hardware completes the look. I get compliments everywhere I take it.Julio
I love the guitar but was charged full price for a floor model. Also, the guitar in the photo had abalone inlays on each side of the fretboard. The one I received did not. The strap button on the bottom of the guitar was pushed in (looks like it was dropped)…Love the guitar but did not receive what I ordered. Seeing this guitar intrigued me — it is beautifully designed, natural glow finish on neck and body, pearl-look pick guard and tinted neck and headstock. I had been looking for a new Telecaster because – well, who doesn't want a really good Tele. I was a bit unsure because I wasn't sure if the thin line models still had the 'REAL' Telecaster tone. I got this one from AMS in 2 days, opened it up and was amazed ad the workmanship, finish and playability right out of the box. AND.- it is ALL Telecaster! Light, easy to play with tones for days! TL;DR: I'm still rather new to playing electrics but this is my eight in about a year. Having had it two days, it is already my favorite. The neck is the most suited to me of any guitar I own or have tried. It is on the thinner side but not at all extreme. For reference, I'm also quite fond of the Fender Player neck. This is just a little thinner. The fingerboard is nicely rolled. This guitar sounds great (clean and crunch on Katana 100) and the fit/finish is spectacular. This is my first semi/hollow and I still can't get over how light it is, without negatively affecting the feel or tone. I passed by this guitar many times on the wall of my local GC until recently it spoke to me. I played it for a while and was quite enamored with the feel of it. I bought the demo unit and took it home. After a little more playing, I learned that the top end of the 13th fret was bad/unlevel. The issue could be very much heard and even seen. But, I was in love. I took it back to the store and there was no fuss at all having them order me a replacement. The replacement, new in box, is in perfect shape. Action and intonation on mine were spot on out of the box. No blemishes whatsoever and while I was rather turned off by the aesthetic of this guitar for a long time, thus having passed by it so many times, it is growing on me. Chose this guitar because I'm an old guy now and was finding the weight of a standard Telecaster just too much to make the experience of playing pleasurable; the Thinline is considerable lighter (25-30% ?) and has the additional benefit of producing a good enough sound without amplification, to be able to just pick it up for a brief play or sofa lounging. Amplified it has all the Telecaster tone, ring and 'quack' expected from this iconic model. I never really noticed much difference between my standard Fender Telecaster to the Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster sold recently on account of its weight…..while I'm sure the Custom shop models are honed to a more sophisticated finish, I associate a Telecaster as a working mans tool, and a good one. The build and finish on this new Thinline is really good utility quality in line with its forbears and I'm really enjoying the lighter weigh more resonant feel of it (somehow it has a feel that reminds me of the Hofner Verithin I bought my son years ago). Ok, you get the picture I'm loving it…… and truly amazing that it only cost £329. Delivery as advised and excellent packing. Many thanks.

Overall: In a YouTube review of this guitar, there was one guy that said he didn't understand why any experienced and knowledgable guitar player would want THIS guitar over something more high-end (i.e., a "real" Eclipse), because of the differing body design features. I, myself, am not anything of a virtuoso player, nor do I have the fattest wallet at the moment, which is why I settled on something more in the midrange for my first relatively decent guitar. I've been playing for years, writing songs on "piece of crap" guitars, and it didn't matter to me that my instrument was nothing to show off when that's all that I was using it for (i.e., to write songs). Before I am an instrumentalist, I am a vocalist and songwriter… but I digress. Anyhow, coming from someone that has a limited span of what truly "decent" is in this department, I, personally, found this guitar to be worth the price. I am not the most knowledgable about guitars, no, but I know what feels right to me as a player. This one is pretty nice. The body is lightweight and thin without feeling or looking cheap or flimsy, and the playability is fantastic. There is little strain on your fingering hand due to how easy it is to press the strings down, unlike on cheaper guitars. Had I learned to play on this one, I would have been totally spoiled! Maybe like that guy with the YouTube review. Haha. The sound is nice and crisp… and the color is beautiful. I went with the Cobalt Blue, because it matches with my room. I have no complaints about it, under the circumstances. It is everything that I needed it to be. The available payment plan was the cherry on top. Just two more payments! IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT! It was on backorder. It took round-a-bout 5 months to get it in my eager hands. I bought the Purple Burst version. What their online photos do not properly convey is that the back and the neck are purple as well (how purple depends on each guitar-having seen two in person). The 1st appeared almost black in most lighting. The 2nd is defiantly purple but when photographed there is a color mismatch between the back and front that is NOT noticeable in person (see photos) This is my first Les Paul body style and my first guitar with split coil capability. The jumbo frets are awesome. I haven't been playing long (2-ish years). They cut down on my mis-fretting. The ease & sound of bending the strings + the sound of the pick-ups are more than I was expecting. The neck is super slim. I have size S/M woman hands. I love the size. There is not a lot of stretching to reach around for the low end strings. The neck also has a lovely coating that allows me to slide up and down easy without sticking- if you have played a matte coated neck, you know what I mean. The fret board and the inlays are leveled out very well but the fret board was a bit thirsty when I got it. A fret board oil & cloth buff were all it needed. The frets are very well placed & filed (no snags or fret spouts). The "Set-Up" was really good straight out of the box. The string height was set really well. Low enough (esp. at the nut) that It was not a finger killer to fret but there was no fret buzz at any frets when playing. The intonation was pretty spot on as well. Took slight adjustment when it got new strings (mostly at the Low E and A). The top pick-up was a touch high for my taste but if that is the worst I can say… The neck was straight and ready to play. The tuners work well and I love the keystone buttons on them that match the headstock style. It is heavier than I expected 7.5lbs- 8.4lbs. Sound: I haven't even got far enough to plug it in the action is so buzzy that is why i do not recommend this guitar. If it was set up to playable i would probably like it. You can feel a feel a few fret edges, but nothing horrible. That i would expect for a guitar in this price range, but for it to show up completely unplayable is unacceptable. Value: The way it arrived no. Overall: I have always liked ESP products, but today i am disappointed. This guitar arrived today and is unplayable. The neck has got a back bow and all the strings buzz horribly. The strings are hitting on the back of the bridge after the saddle because the tail piece was screwed all the way down to the body. If ESP did this they should be ashamed, if zZounds did this they should be ashamed. Not sure who set this guitar up? I'm going to try to fix it tomorrow wish me luck. If i can get to stop buzzing and to play decent i may keep it, if not it's going back. It is a pretty guitar and aside from the atrocious setup seems to be of decent quality.Shawn

Selling my 2022 epiphone riviera in royal tan! this will be an excellent guitar for someone looking for a high quality replica of the classic epiphone model. this guitar is in almost new condition, with the pickup sticker still on one of the pickups. i have just had this guitar set up, polished and upgraded (faber abr-1 press in inserts, not the cheaper screw in kind, and a gotoh bridge) by a pro. these inserts really make the guitar very resonant! additionally, since the setup this guitar plays fantastic, and has a deep dark fretboard (looks like rosewood, unlike many laurel fretboards). i am selling this guitar due to the neck profile (i d call it a very full c) i cannot easily play it, and cannot justify keeping it any longer without playing it.this guitar comes with a soft case (will try to upload pics later). also, there is a small bit of dye bleed into the binding on the upper cutout (see second to last pic).

I needed a go to electric guitar to play in the band that was developed from my acoustic duo. I used a Casino many years ago and loved the feel of it. The Riviera felt like an old friend as soon as I picked it up. I tried an Epi 335 but felt that the neck was too thick for my taste. The mini humbuckers sounded great, so I wasn't going to miss the P90s that were on the Casino-not much, anyhow. A few tweaks and the Riviera became MY Riviera. Our first gig with my Riviera and I was absolutely hooked. This is now and will be my go to electric for many years to come!Terry
First off, this is a stunning looking guitar. The burgundy finish is beautiful. But the quality of the finish leaves much to be desired. Lots of blemishes on the fingerboard and sloppy finishing on the F hole. Arrived poorly setup with lots of fret buzz. And the mini humbuckers are very low output… really need to replace them for anything other than clean playing. Bit disappointing.
Overall: I am 70 years old and have been playing professionally for 58 years just so you know who is reviewing this guitar. I have music on the radio and I have also been a recording engineer for 30 years and working on guitars since 1970. Now for the Truth: ZZ service was very good. Guitar arrived in timely fashion and was packaged well. I have been wanting one of these for years and finally bought the Burgundy one. The guitar neck had jagged fret ends or sprouts and were not leveled. The string action was 3/8 inch above the neck at the twelfth fret. The intonation was not even close. I realize this came from over seas. However, To say the least, if you do not know how to work on guitars I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND that you buy this guitar. I also purchased The sound was great but it has a pole piece in the neck pick up that wiggles back and forth. The finish had a slight bit of paint over run on the binding and the G tuner is very tight and not on par with the others. At this price point I have to say it is just a cut above a Firefly guitar. I am very disappointed in the finish work of this guitar. The Uptown Kat is flawless compared to this guitar. So if you are undecided go for the Kat. I wanted the Extura Prophecy when it first came out, unfortunately like many of us reading this, it was pretty hard to come by. So I joined the waiting list on 4 different music store websites and AMS got them first, but I bought a Schecter E-1 SLS while on the waiting list. I own a barrage of Explorer style and an actual Explorer. The Extura's action is set-up a lot like my 1983 is. The bridge and action is set higher than most typical Epiphones, but plays very easily. It has the '59 style LP fat neck, which I prefer, the older I get the less picky I am I guess, but a great comparison to it would be the Epiphone Les Paul Custom, whereas the Schecter has a fast neck, and lower action kind of like the Peavey Rotor EXP Vandenberg. As far as weights between the two they are almost identical. Now the sore subject for most connoisseurs, the Fishmans Fluence Pick-ups. I did not know what to expect of them until my Schecter arrived. When paired with my HeadRush Pedalboard it produces amazing tones and sustains. I've had the Twin for at least 6 months, another item I purchased from AMS, and I am still learning what they can do. It literally goes from the Ibanez Destroyer DTT700 DiMarzio D Activator-X distorted signal to the cloth pushback neck pickup of a Fender Strat, and everything in between. Both guitars have them, and I really recommend them. The Extura's pick-ups sound exceptionally bright, and the string to pickup height is not at the typical 5/64th's of an inch. It takes a little getting used to, but if you ever owned or played a Bronze series B.C. Rich in the mid to late 80's you know exactly what I am talking about, it's the same feel. Right now I have been playing the Extura extensively until I can figure out what I hate about it, and I go and buy my next adventure. So far it's been 95% positive, the electronics were a little wonky at first, right out of the box (it was 13°F when the guitar arrived and it sat in the box to come up to temperature for 24 hours before I even unpacked it), but as I worked the toggle switch, everything appears fine. When I get it on stage will be the true test, the heat of the lights, and my super acidic sweat will determine how it fairs, I literally change strings after every show, but as I said it will be the true test. Oh, is it the Schecter E-1 SLS Evil Twin Killer, no they are definitely two distinctly different animals, each with their own traits, but they sure do sound a lot a like.Brett
Satin neck is slick. Thats good. Pickup kickass except when i pull pots for Hot p90 single coil they have huge, swailing feedback through my Katana 100 mkii. Could be fun but i recoiled instantly from horror and pushed the pot back in. P90 like pickup Fishman Fluence could be a flaw. Need to try again when alone. The fret work is amazing. Flaws. The Tone pot is twisted on. It is fitted slightly crooked. Pots have a sensitive volume and tone swell. Beautiful- purple tiger flame satin paint is really nice. Dont regret. Five star. Overall: Let me get the bad out of the way.The locking tuner caps, are made of plastic. The battery door is plastic as expected but doesn't seem too close terribly well and I'm not sure how that will age.Now the good (great actually) stuff…It's virtually impossible to find more value in a guitar.The fishman fluence proprietary pickups are absolutely AWESOME!Some people compare the number two setting on the push pull as a P.A.F.To me it sounds a little more like 490's. But once you add gain…The modern tone is phenomenal. Extremely rich harmonics. Full tone with no muddiness whatsoever. The guitar is balanced fairly well.One minor complaint is the fret work. VERY MINOR! Nice rolled edges seems to be very flat. However, they weren't polished very well. That will take care of itself in about 2 weeks of solid playing. Reaching the 24th fret can be a little tough even with a great scarf joint. But I don't grab the 24th fret all that often anyway. Few do.Bottom line:If you put this in my hand and I didn't see the headstocked I would assume it was a Gibson. this is the best playing Epiphone I have ever picked up in my life! And I have picked up a lot of Epiphones. Listen, I know that statement has been made at nauseam but I own 2 Custom Shop Les Paul's. I know what a Gibson feels like. Epiphone absolutely killed it on this model

Purchased this guitar pack as a gift for my younger sister who is interested in having a guitar just to cool around on. This is an amazing starter kit for anyone who is starting to play an Electric Guitar! One thing I really like about this starting kit is that not only it is affordable, perfect for college students, but it also has everything that you need to start learning how to play an electric guitar. I specifically wanted to start my guitar journey on an Electric Les Paul, so this kit worked out specifically well. The quality of the accessories is also pretty good. The only complain I had was towards the tuner— it doesn’t seem to work correctly; however, that could be due to my noob skills. Anyway, there are always online apps that you can use to tune.
