To use a fine old term 'bang for the buck' this is definitely it. If one understands how these work this one delivers the goods. I am easily able to get the full envelope range using a stock Strat. It would improve the performance, however, if the envelope sensing favored the bottom strings a little more which would even out the overall response. Otherwise dynamite! Maestrohealymaestrohealy
This pedal is cool but kind of strange. The overall effect is very mild through clean instruments but is very noticable with distortion. It boosts your signal a bit which will cut your volume if you switch it off in the middle of a song. The white knob does reshape your mid range tone which can either add an extra layer to shape your eq or diminish your eq altogether. This knob always reshapes your tone in this manner regardless of what the other knobs are at. One major benefit to this is that it seems to polish your tone a bit. The difference was extremely obvious when I tested this through my full bore pedal. This is worth having but it's more of a secondary effect pedal. If you need something to go with your distortion/reverb pedal combo and don't want something generic, this is a good choice.gei_57

Overall: This thing is great. I have been searching for the right pedal to use with my electric violin that is versatile and gives me strange sounds if I need them. This pedal does it all. I use it with a light rock acoustic type band, a gypsy lounge jazz group (from originals to Kashmir by Zep), and an electronic project that I am working on. Its sturdy (I dropped it a couple times) easy to program with almost an infinite amount of possibilities. Totally worth the price! My next pedal of any sort will be an electro harmonix.PS – when I used the Cathedral Pipe Organ with the mandolin it freaked my family right out. Because the kids are older, rarely do they peek in anymore to see what I'm up to. The Pipe Organ did it. So cool. First, I love this pedal. As a keyboardist, organist & guitarist, from the moment I plugged this in and from the first notes, I fell in love with the sonic possibilities of the multi-octave generators right from the start. After all, that's how the organ can grow to such a monstrous cacophony of tones: simply by stacking octaves. But this pedal goes further by allowing you to set the level for each particular octave. Amazing concept. The attack delay, LPF & detune, and their button controls, also round this pedal out as a fantastic tone shaping tool. Simply put, it is an amazing sounding pedal. Polyphonic tracking is dead on, sans audio glitches (except for that with my noise gate, below). The eight preset slots at first don't seem like enough memory for all the different settings this pedal can handle, but the more I use it, the more that eight become more than enough. Very intuitive. The only sonic downside I noticed was when I had this pedal installed after my preamp and Silencer noise gate, the gate seems to mess with the polyphonic tracking of the POG; this was quickly remedied by placing the POG first in the signal chain before the gate. This is a bit on the pricy side for an EHX pedal, but if you have the cash, it is well worth the money for everything it can do. You will love how it makes your guitar sound.JOHN
Primarily bought this unit to substitute for a bass in home recording. Set all the other octaves and the original signal to zero and the -1 octave to full. With my Strat played through my Fender Rumble 150 the bass sound is ideal for home recording. Not suggesting it would replace a bass at live gigs, although it could possibly in a pinch. With the +1 octave at maximum and the original signal at 3/4 and the others all at zero it emulates a twelve string within limits. By that I mean if you use a jangley strum style and emphasize the third and fourth strings you can get a near twelve string sound. The other settings result in some interesting sounds but nothing I have yet found a practical purpose for. It is a bit pricey but appears to be well built and durable. I said it was mostly what I hoped for because it did exactly as I had hoped as a bass substitute but I was hoping for a more realistic twelve string sound.PMc

This pedal is awesome! It has a bunch of different effects all wrapped into this little box, with a few knobs that make dialing in the right tone simple yet gives you plenty of options. The only downside I have to this pedal is that on some of the modes, the pedal automatically makes a "wah" sound that I'd rather be able to control more myself, and sometimes it simply applies the effect too little or too often. I also have a love for small tube amps, 30 watts and smaller as I play guitar as a hobby. I have been collecting pedals for years. I keep the ones I like and sell the ones I'm not so crazy about. This pedal rocks! I have this pedal at one amp along with a boss/fender reverb pedal and I can get many sounds. Very affordable pedal with lots of great sounding features – the wah and the octaver sound great, the other synth effects are good. This is a great way to try a bunch of different effects to see what you like or don't like. The construction is heavy duty so it should hold up to rough handling. The down side is that with so many features it would be difficult to use as a gigging pedal if this were your only way to get those sounds. There are four knobs which must all be tweaked for each of the different effects. There's no good way to to redo all the settings in the middle of a gig if you want to switch sounds. If you find one or two that you like and can leave it set that way, or you're experimenting, then you'll be happy. The other problem is that the synth settings boost the volume compared to the octaver and the wah.doodad1

Distortion/overdrive/fuzz pedals are difficult to get right. There are different "flavors" of dirt, differing amounts available, and there's the issues around EQ coloration and loss of low end. The Aguilar Agro has a nice flavor (kind of retro tube instead of overly modern), a wide range of amount (from none to pretty fuzzy), but best of all what it does and does not do to your overall tone shape. I find that it does not lose my fundamental low frequency and it does not impose a baked-in EQ (such as a mid-scoop) for me to struggle against. It's just my bass, sounding just as it always does, but with a really nice crunch added to it. Simple. But hard to get right. Nice job, Aguilar.scottfeldstein
Minus one star because it's frankly overpriced. Otherwise this pedal is excellent and the best use of 4 knobs in any current envelope filter. You can get a little more out of some of the filters with 6 or 8 controls. But for effective simplicity this pedal is fantastic. You can get a modest variety of albeit similar sounds, but nearly every setting is usable. This alone is more rare than it should be in pedals. The twin filter is incredibly well tuned. And generally easy and pleasurable to use. The only issue I have is with its price. I design audio electronics professionally and can guess at the cost to produce. And the main circuit they sadly chose to pot. Someone looking to "steal" this non-patentable design could still do so but it makes modification and repair near impossible. They should ditch the potting and set a lower price because they should be selling more of these very good pedals.Marty McFlurr

Klassischer Qtron Envelope Sound wie man ihn von etlichen Aufnahmen kennt und liebt (John Mayer, Bootsy Collins, Flea, …) Funktioniert bei Gitarre und Bass gleichermaßen gut. Das richtige Setting findet man in 5 bis 10 min sehr schnell und dabei belässt Mans meistens auch —> es gibt je nach Instrument einfach eine perfekte Einstellung. Klingt auch sehr gut vor OD, Dist oder vor allem Fuzz. Zudem nun mit 9V DC – das macht den Einsatz am klassischen Powerbay sehr praktisch. Würd das Qtron Nano immer wieder kaufen.

Like the title says, I've tried just about every filter on the market… the Q tron plus is the one! The only bummer is the volume boost, but there is an easy solution: you can place a micro volume pedal in the effects loop, or order a custom true bypass loop with a volume for the pedal. I though Q balls series was ok, but there is always a few milliseconds of a delay in the tracking, even when at the fastest (most counter clockwise setting) setting. Therefore, despite the great versatility of the Q balls ( by the way, I thought the Riddle Q balls was better than the enigma q balls because the enigma has a weird, fast automatic envelope close on all your releases, whether you like it or not; and with the Riddle you can fully control the decay and how it closes) the Q tron plus still reigns because of its great, instant tracking and great sound. The slow response setting on the q tron sounds excellent. Mix mode sounds great as well. So far the best sounding filter I've found........

Overall: Wow this is a great envelope filter! I received it and can’t stop exploring. It’s pretty simple to dial in on the sound you desire the dry knob I keep it turned at like 9 o clock all the other controls at 3 o clock and I get a phenomenal sound. It sounds just as good as some of the more expensive ones. I purchased on the payment plan with zZounds and I’m very happy with this pedal. I did not have to use manufacturer support.Jason
This is not like an EHX Bassballs. This is an extremely musical pedal. From thick bubbling to full funk, this pedal has ability to blend bass and FX to maximize the bass' fundamental. Very usable on lower settings if you want some huge, chunky effect, then bring up the Q and SENS knobs to dish out monstrous sounds that will take notice without losing your tone. A unique sound with a lot of tones to explore. It seems to have quite a lot of gain so can catch you by surprise sometimes when switching on without additional volume control – maybe this is because energy is channelled into the swept frequencies and it passes through a band that is particularly resonant for my setup/room space… Still I'd recommend additional volume control or a light touch!Timothy
Leslie simulation is a tricky thing because there's no way a pedal can reproduce the sound of a speaker spinning in the room (4 dimensional sound) but it can reproduce the sound of a miked Leslie as you would hear on a record. So I won't speak to how close this comes to a real Leslie. This thing is fun to play through both for the rotary effect, especially when using 2 amps (and for God's sake use a pair of tube amps), and for the compression/drive effects that are built it. It inspires a different playing style that I normally use which is also fun and can lead to better recording etc. The only thing I found to be a little strange is the brake, which really isn't a brake at all but is more like turning off the motor drive and letting it spin down at the rate set by the acceleration knob. It's not a flaw just different and if you want more control you can use an expression pedal. Something else that would have been nice would have been stereo inputs, I run the second half of my pedalboard in stereo and already have an Electric Mistress as my one mono to stereo pedal.ny4jb
It took me a while to get it tweaked in. I'm using a strat and tele (it didn't sound too great with humbuckers). I finally found a sweet spot in hi pass mode with drive at about 2 to 3 o'clock and Q at about 9 to 10 o'clock. Personally all other settings didn't work for me. It takes some practice to get the feel. G and B strings really pop but I have to hit the E string a bit harder on both guitars. It's a nice little pedal….be patient with it and play around with it. I play in clubs on weekends and it's working out well.Joe

The effect is unique but doesn't register on each note when playing fast… I own several envelope filters & this isnt one I would recommend, at least not for bass. Come on guys I had to take a star from this awesome foot pedal because you send it with no place for a battery and no power supply, which it does not say clearly power supply not included. So here I am with one of the baddest foot pedals for bass guitar but I can't use it until I find a power that works with your unit this is not where you want your customers

Initially unimpressed with the Baseballs,on a quick rip out of the box on a practice amp it sounded unspecial and a bit… meh. It has one function, with varying intensity and the addition of fuzz. I'll admit, it was an impulse buy that I figured I'd try and send back, but fell in love with it. It may not have a universe of tones inside, but what it does is so funky and cool, I'll never part with it. Put a fuzz in front of it and it goes awesomely crazy. Fun, quirky filter. Very simple and easy to dial in. Not much tweekablity; only does two tones, clean and distorted, but does them well. The twin filters give it a vocal quality distinctly different from the normal single filter in most pedals. Retains low end really well. Distorted mode nails Flea's "sir psycho sexy" tone. Clean mode sounds a little week on it's own, but running it into a light overdrive or compression fattens it up nicely.
