Electric Guitar National Anthem For Sale (2024 Update)

Only $300 difference from standard and $500 from modern LP… tough choice. I like flame tops for sure but bored of tobacco burst, honey burst, cherry burst and other plain traditional bursts… so leaned towards something more classic modern and bold… so went with translucent cherry. And my back isn't great so wanted something lighter. The coil tapping is nice to have but isn't great… especially compared to my PRS guitars. I'm not sure why Gibson can't figure this out. Again nice to have but wish Gibson could do a better job with this. Coil tapping quality was the same on my studio. I absolutely love the pickups on this guitar… probably some of best humbuckers ever made because of the extra brightness and clarity. I've sold so many of my guitars with humbuckers and gravitated towards single coil guitars because humbuckers are typically muddy in comparison. These 61's are a game changer for me and got me interested in Gibson LPs again. I love the colors of the LP modern too… but not sure what you're are getting extra for the added $500 other than a carved heal joint which I'll never use… and ultra weight relief… which is good if you have a bad back. But I think the electronics are the same with slightly hotter pickups. I guess boils down to which pickups you prefer and color. I love the classic and modern LP colors… again tough choices…but classic is perfect for me… I really love them all for different reasons though.Thad

What we have here is a great American made Gibson Les Paul for a good price. I bought one a year ago and bought a second as a backup/different tuning for stage use. Not that the guitar requires a backup, but strings break and things happen. The 490 pickups are great all around work horses. While I'd recommend different pickups on a per person/per style situation, these are right in my ball park and do what I want them to (goosed with an OD or boost at times). All of the electronics and hardware are fine. Same with fit/finish and the gig bag (which is also very nice). As I said, I have two of these now. The first is a year old and has been through once a week rehearsals and twice a week gigs. The satin finish on the neck settles in nicely with a bit of playing and sweat. It gets slicker over time, shows age, and feels great. Same with the body as well. As with all satin finished guitars, it wont stay that way. Playability on both were perfect out of the bag. No sharp frets and setup/intonation were just to my liking. Now let's compare these Tributes to a Standard. I won't discuss the chambered body versus non nor the maple versus mahogany necks. You really won't notice the difference other than the weight. More weight does not always equal better tone. Here's the thing, I don't notice a difference in tone between the Tribute and Standard….well, not enough to justify the cost difference. I had my doubts when I ordered my first one that it could stand up to my Standard. But I dug it off the bat. To quell my doubts, I had the other guitarist in my band run it through its paces so that I could stand back and hear. That was the Les Paul tone….I was happy. As such, I ordered a second as they were in my stable to stay. Solid guitars with great tone that I will not cry about when they get dinged or messed with at a gig. Now, the Tributes are thinner than the Standards. And of course no bling such as binding or headstock inlays. Switch washer comes in the bag should you choose to install it. But the tone and playability is what you expect from a Les Paul. I would, and have, recommended these to my friends. Great instrument at a great price. BTW, the included case. This was an incredible surprise as I didn't know what to expect. It's a lether "type" exterior, great padding, pink fuzzy interior, LARGE front pocket, and double backpack straps. It's a VERY nice bag! Accessory kit gets you a picture of your guitar being setup, documents that you will probably not read, a few tools, and as of this posting, a nylon guitar strap. While lower in scale compared to the Standard (what with it's hard case, multi tool, and leather strap), it's still rather cool. All in all, these are my go to guitars for stage and studio right now. I have more expensive guitars, but cost doesn't equal tone or feel.Brandon

I've always wanted an ML and this one looked so beautiful online. It's even better when it's in your hand. Pickups are awesome, nice full tone and great crunch on the distortion side. Love the matte finish on the back of the neck. It has great sustain too, you can feel the tone through the whole guitar when you play a note and I prefer that solid feel when I play. My only two complaints is there are a couple fingerprints under the clear coat on the back. Obviously missed during the QC checks at the factory. But they're barely noticeable and they're on the back. Gives it character to have a workers fingerprints as part of my guitar. The other thing is the frets could've been polished a little better. But when I changed the strings, I took another 30 mins and polished them and that was that. This is my 10th guitar and it's tied for number one favorite. I play it every day and love it. I bought the case for it as well, it's enormous, but great fit and quality.Will

Do not buy without seeing/playing. I waited 6 months for this to arrive and was SO looking forward to it. The finish is absolutely beautiful, which makes the rest of the story that much more depressing. The tremolo, specifically the D-Tuna, does not fit the cavity. It hits the body when in regular E tuning. When I first picked it up, it wasn't surprising that it wasn't exactly tuned after shipping, though it was actually close. However the sixth string was tuned to E, with the D-Tuna disengaged (so should have been a D). I thought that was an odd mistake, but realized after trying to engage the D-Tuna into regular E position that whoever did the final setup did that on purpose because it won't go into E position without totally colliding with the body! Oh and the bridge pickup is totally loose and wobbling. That can probably just be tightened, but please… This is the second EVH Wolgang USA I've seen since Eddie's death that has had major, similar problems. The other's bridge pickup worked intermittently, and again the D-Tuna was hitting the body. It would be one thing if this was a cheap, import guitar. But at this price, these issues are unacceptable. So again, hold and examine the guitar yourself before buying.Joel D

Just bought this guitar and could not be more satisfied. To put my review in context: been playing 30 years, have had over 50 guitars and currently hold onto about 20- most are the high end USA models with "bells and whistles." I just read the book "Eruption" written by guitar magazine journalists and loved it- described Ed's constant tinkering with his guitars and search for best tones. Half way through I knew I wanted to go get an EVH model to add to my guitars (played a few over the years and they were all great, but very expensive Music Man Axis / Peavey), and wanted to wait until I finished the book to narrow down my search and go try out a new one to buy. Glad I did- toward the end of the book he explained how this model guitar is exactly what he wants to play right off the shelf as an entry level model a great gift to guitarists wanting an affordable guitar that isnt junk. I bought it and after about an hour playing with it as my guitar tuned down to Eb half a step- it is now my #1 guitar for that tuning (also for context my #1 for standard tuning is a Shur super strat which costs like 6x this Wolfgang). In response to some other lower reviews- yes, this is not equipped with a Floyd Rose floating bridge, just as Ed played- he sites the reason as Pros= better tone and you can rest your hand a little on the bridge without playing out of tune. Yes, the cons include not being able to pull up a note to really high pitch with the bar. right off the shelf it was set up with IMHO the best gauge string for his type of playing and a guitar tuned down half a step- 09-46 gauge. The 6 page manual with the guitar was really cool- a note from Ed was in it about how he wants folks to play the guitar and make it their own with literally their playing, grit and grease from hand oil actually being the wood finishing on the unfinished wood. The neck and fretboard are very sturdy, with jumbo frets and the latest technology in manufacturing to ensure each note can be fretted and in remain in tune / bend smoothly. All electronics are top notch- great humbucker pickups picked by Ed after a trial of about 100 different different pickups during the design phase. Tuners and Floyd Rose Special bridge were standard- I may upgrade them in a few months after breaking in the guitar. This is the only guitar review I have ever done- just trying to get some good karma I guess from this treasure I found and pass on the scoop on this guitar to others. Hope this helps- buy this! The perfect guitar to make yours just as it is, or customize/tinker around with it since it is affordable and there is much less stress of messing something up. IMHO if this guitar gets its due in the upcoming years it is our generation's Les Paul.Kevin

I want to follow up my previous review. I played the guitar a lot more the day after I wrote my original review when I was more awake and noticed yet again, a lot of buzzing in several spots up and down the neck. The guitar was looked at by a luthier and I was told it would need a full fret level. He told me to return it. The buzz could not be dialed out by string height or relief. At 5/64 off the 12th fret on the low E and 4/64 off the 12th fret on the high E with .010mm relief at the 8th fret parts of the guitar sounds like a sitar due excessively high frets. The neck is not twisted either. This is 4 in a row that had some sort of an issue, mostly with bad fretwork and/or dings and dents. Also out of the 3 guitars I ordered I asked for no special handling so the boxes should have been sealed from the factory. Every guitar I got was opened and resealed. The original brown tape was cut and was re-tapped with clear tape on top of it. I'm not blaming MF but all of this didn't sit well with me. I talked to another dealer who told me that they have had issues with the EVH Wolfgang Standards and they sent four of them back to Fender and didn't even put them on sale on their website because of QC issues out of the box. So I'm hoping returned guitars aren't being sent back to Fender and then shuffled around and sent to other dealers as "new" stock…either way,something isn't right. MF was great, I wound up ordering a Strat instead. I wanted to like the EVH Wolfgang and I gave it a shot and I thought I had the last one playing alright until I really sat with it and discovered it really wasn't alright. I know people have bought them and had no issues and love them, consider yourself lucky. I'm done with them. I added a star because the neck does feel great and the pickups sound great…they made the excessive buzzing sound very warm.Guitar Player

Beautiful tone and smooth feel. Great neck which is easy to play…Did I mention tone? No I definitely cannot play like Eddie, but this is a great guitar which you could use to play any sort of music. Considering the finish, the quality and the tone…This guitar is a great value. They could charge a whole lot more for them, but I hope they don't.flyx99

The WG-T is everything that I am looking for in a guitar. This is the most ergonomically perfect instrument available, in my opinion. Hangs perfectly balanced, perfect weight, ridiculously comfortable, The lower cost of this model makes it a great choice for a gigging guitar. The Wolfgang Standard series is the only Wolfgang that has the forearm contour and belly cut and that really completes all the other comfort elements – including the compound radius neck, rolled edges, minimally finished neck, etc. The newer Wolfgang's finally have the right fret wire size (again, my opinion). Bummer that the frets are no longer stainless steel. Tonally the guitar is perfect, the pickups don't need to be swapped out like most lower tier guitars. Strap buttons negate the need for strap locks. The only upgrades that are desirable would be a higher quality output jack and pickup selector switch. Construction fit and finish are above average and fret work is spot on. Poor points are 1. The neck wood; definitely not select maple, although the fingerboards do look like select clear maple on the 3 WG-Ts I picked up. The necks have graphite reinforcement and have been 100% stable through the seasons so I guess the neck wood doesn't matter. 2. The output jack and jack plate screws arelow quality. 3. Bridge hardware finish wears through in a few months of playing – which actually looks cooler (in my opinion) but the actual bridge/tailpiece are most likely cheap cast zinc and will probably benefit from a replacement if the saddles wear. 4. I would prefer an actual satin finish rather than the almost no finish on the neck. It feels great raw, but I think a more protective finish would help prevent fret sprout. I recommend monitoring the humidity and keeping the guitar in a case. (I don't, and have experienced a little fret sprout when humidity drops in the winter). Love this model; the compromises in quality, fit, finish, and hardware are are a great trade-off if you don't want to be traveling around playing dive bars with an expensive collection. And the arm/belly contours actually put it a step above the Special for comfort.gunsoul

Very impressed with this guitar. The neck has a great feel and well set-up for playing fast and note bends, especially in the upper register. Sustain is impressive for a sub £1k guitar and there is probably enough grunt from the factory pickups for most players. The low friction volume and high friction tone are a nice thing to have and am considering adapting my other working guitars with this. Using the D-Tuna was a learning curve as you can't use the fine tuner once set at drop D (well, you can tweak the tuning on the D-Tuna itself once set in the standard tuning position). If you don't fancy using it you can always swap it out with the supplied kit. The kill button is fun and I'm sure I'll get good use of it in time but I do keep brushing it when hammering out funk rhythms. Possibly due to my large hands but worth noting that if you splay you strumming hand when playing, you may end up with a scuff bruise or two. Great guitar. Plays like butter. My biggest problem is that the Floyd Rose bridge goes out of tune every time I use the tremolo ( actually comes out of the body). Even with me buying the protection plan I keep getting told that my only option is to pay more money and get the bridge replaced and re-setup. Very disappointed with this whole experience.Kevin

So, just received this guitar after a hard time with UPS. I was so excited to get this guitar but after many failed attempts by UPS I was ready to just cancel the order and forget about it. Once I plugged it in however, I was hooked and blown away by the tone and playability. After many failed "G" Les Paul attempts, I have found my dream LP. The Dirty Lemon aged finish is stunning as is the attention to detail and craftsmanship. I've never owned a G custom Shop LP but this one blows away the standard line by miles.Guhacc

This is, without doubt my favourite guitar! I have owned guitars since I was a teenager and have had about 100 since then. All the top American brands and many others but this is fabulous! I've been playing for almost 42 yrs and I've played(owned) many guitars in this body style. These are the real deal. Made by the same luthiers, same methods, same equipment the Holy Grail cousins where made in the same place, Its a no brainer why these are such incredible guitars. I've played many of these and own(ed) a few every one I laid my hands on felt alive resonate and gave me a thought as to why I didn't jump on these years ago. Don't expect a custom shop handmade guitar; but for the money, this guitar kicks all kinds of tail! It plays very nicely with a very fast fretboard and thin neck. Stays in tune when abusing it with heavy pick attack. It does exactly what it looks like it was made for doing! Not to mention, it looks really cool, and plays as good as it looks! I have been playing for 25+ years, have owned many, many, many, mid-priced guitars over the years and this is definitely a big bang for the buck! I was gifted this beauty for my birthday. I had a 2PU version before, but through my own innatention, cracked the breadstick at the neck. I repaired it, but then sold it. I giggled and recorded extensively with that guitar. I was missing it, and thanks to my kid brother and his wonderful girlfriend, the Caddy has joined my guitar tribe. I purchased the red sparkle Paloma that was listed as the "Stardust" series but received the original Paloma. The only difference is the Paloma Stardust has dots while the regular Paloma has Diamond inlays. I was not originally aware that there were two versions but am happy with the standard diamond inlays. I love the neck and frets which are a little higher than I am used to but I have come to enjoy playing on it. The sound is definitely darker than my Strat and Tele and requires some adjustments to my amp. Really nice tremolo and hardware. Build is great but what really sold me was the sparkle finish. The rotary pickup selector is different and a bit more cumbersome than most other guitars I own, When I say cumbersome I only mean if a song requires a quick change of pickups it takes an instant longer than on a strat, Tele, LP or similar styles. It comes with a well constructed, well padded and lockable case. The guitar was PLEKED so played flawlessly on arrival. Every fret perfect up and down. This guitar is the best of both worlds, it is like a Strat mixed with a Gibson. The humbuckers give it sustain and power, and the strat body and neck make it feel like a Strat, and also give the woody tone associated with a Strat. The stock pickups are very hot, but you can achieve cleaner tones by rolling back the volume knob. Perfect guitar for blues, rock, hard rock, metal, shredding, etc. If I could only have one guitar, this would be it!bluesagent2

A truly awesome instrument, finely built from quality materials, beautiful to play. The clean tones with some spring reverb give classic rock'n'roll, and run through the dirty channel on my Mesa Dual Rectifier produces a versatile range of blistering lead and power chord options. I am finding new sounds every day. The tremolo system is so smooth, and the neck is very easy to play on. The 'honeymoon impression' is that it is just about the best electric guitar I have ever had (along with my Baja Tele). Fantastic quality and a perfect factory set up. A curious cross between a Tele, Les Paul and a Gretsch. Sounds great through a Fender clean amp. The only slight drawback is that it comes set up for an unusually heavy bottom string set (50 bottom and light 10 top). Perfect weight for me but it would be difficult to find alternative brands if you wanted to experiment. Played this guitar at NAMM 2022, and it blew me away. I never had played a reverend prior, but it was one that just felt right. Guitar sounded great, pickups were phenomenally, and contouring on the body made it comfortable to play. I would definitely recommend this to any Smashing Pumpkins or Billy Corgan fan out there, or just someone looking for a high quality, great sounding guitar.Zach

I have only had it for two days but so far so good. First off it looks amazing. The aluminum pick guard is a first for me and now my other guitars look like they are jealous. I got the Silver Freeze. All of the hardware is top notch. The artwork on the pickups would have made me keep the guitar no matter how it played, but man does it play. You get the actual Pumpkin sounds very easily and it is awesome. Can't say enough. My first Reverend. Also my first import. I've been way too much of a snob in the past, always sticking with American made for the quality. This guitar stands up. I did not get a case though, it was not even an option. I guess they are out. I saw one online for this guitar in a video and it looks really cool, so I will pick it up eventually.Shawn

What an awesome product! This is my second USA EVH Wolfgang. I love the Ebony fret board. It's comfortable and super fast. Great build quality and fantastic tone. This is the nicest guitar I've ever owned and I've had them all. I'll definitely be buying another?JK

Just got it last night and I couldn't be happier with this guitar. I currently own one US model and 3 Japanese models. The Japanese models are high quality for the money but it's difficult to compare them to the build quality of the US models. Every EVH Wolfgang I own has a maple neck so I was hesitate when it came to Ebony fret board. I understand now why almost 90% of the Wolfgangs have ebony fret boards. The fret board and neck have a more comfortable feel and it's faster than the maple fret board. The build quality, tone and overall superiority of this guitar is really something to behold. I've owned Les Pauls, Strats and Charvels and none of them compare to the superiority of this guitar. Great job Eddie! Best guitar on the market. I can't wait to get my next one!James

I love the EVH Wolfgang USA. It took a little getting used to, as I had been playing a Strat, but after some adjustment the guitar feels natural. Its weight was surprising. It seems closer to a Les Paul than a Strat, but I got used to that also. The stock PUPs are great, nice harmonics and sustain. At this price point, I wish it came with German made Floyd Rose, but the Korean one is OK.Jimifan1975

I absolutely love this axe! I expected an overly hefty guitar and am pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the heft is. The headstock dives but the neck feels great. I really feel like this is the best bang for your buck. I know that it's built in Korea but man this guitar feels and plays like a US build! The roasted maple neck, radius, fret work, and action are all perfect right out of the box. Another huge plus is the locking tuners and the pickups! These pickups are amazing and will cover any type of music you play. These pickups have similar output levels so you don't get that drastic change in volume when switching positions! 10/10 would recommend for someone who is looking for a premium guitar.Christian

Own a ton of guitars including high-end Fenders and Gibsons. Bought the Reverend on a whim and am really surprised how nice this guitar is. The fit and finish (especially the neck feel) is right up there with most USA more expensive guitars. Not only does the neck feel very finished and smooth but the profile and fretboard and a joy to play… better than my USA Strat! Tones from the guitar and pickups are excellent and manage to be warm and bright at athe same time. Plays like a Strat and has great geometry and high fret access. Tuners are great and comes with roller saddles and string tree. Stays perfectly in tune and is light and resonant. Could be my new favorite guitar. This is not the new guitar fascination… this is a great guitar. Never gave Reverend a consideration as I thought they were sort of a import trendy guitar… they are the real deal.Dbluesmi

I've been enamored with the look of the Reverend guitars now for a while, and after going back and forth on which model I wanted I decided to pull the trigger on the Flatroc. I took a chance and bought a used one and can't tell you how glad I am that I did. First of all, it's a cool, retro looking instrument. It's made of solid Korina with a beautiful translucent orange finish, and it's much lighter than the current electrics that i own. The guitar has a lot of sustain and a great warm tone. I went with the Flatroc because i already own a Telecaster and a Les Paul and I was looking for something with that mini humbucker bite and rockabilly twang. This guiitar has that sound, but is much more versatile than that. With the tone and the bass roll off knob you can dial any sound from a country twang to a hard rocking Warren Haynes Explorer sound. Or how about some classic British invasion style rock? You can easily achieve that "Won't get fooled again" tone by dialing in some overdrive. Secondly, the guitar feels great! I can't say enough about how good the neck on this thing feels in my hand. It has a beautiful satin polyurethane finish that slides across your palm like butter across a hot pan. The top and back are angled in just the right spots to make playing more comfortable. And did i mention this thing is light? It makes my Les Paul feel like i'm carrying a bowling ball. Third and most important, you're getting a lot of guitar for the price! Sure they're made in Korea but they are made with care and then are tested and set up in good old USA before going out to the customer. This guitar came set up to play for almost any style but a few turns of the thumb screws on the tune-o-matic bridge and I now have the action as low as I could possibly want it with no buzz. So if you're interested in a hard rocking, cool looking, bad ass guitar at a reasonable price, that doesn't look like anything else out there, look no further. And with all the different models with different pickup configurations that Reverend has to offer, you can find the perfect guitar for that sound you're looking for.savagewood_123

Cool guitar, very playable. Would be great for beginners or more advanced players. The pick ups are the only thing, I would suggest swapping out for a better set. But overall the price is very reasonable and the build/finish is great. No complaints here. Also comes with a gig bag which is not mentioned in add but should be.Jrop

Way back in the late 80s I worked at a local music store that sold professional instruments. We got in some of the original Omni-Chord (now called Q-Chord for no apparent reason). As a musician myself I saw it as a toy. Late one night sitting at my desk waiting for time to close I started messing around with one. I fumbled around with ran some chords and hit on a progression I liked. It s sounds were cheesy, but you could clearly hear the various chord qualities (Major, Minor, 7th, aug, sus, etc.). I wrote down the chords and then played them at home on piano and guitar. I ended up writing a song around that progression. I was somehow ashamed of how I did it. It felt like a cheat. It even made me feel like I shouldn't buy one because it would ruin me as a musician. That was stupid thinking of course. It isn't the only way to write a song, but its a great way to play with chords you may not have normally thought about. This is a major advantage to how you might plan out a song on a DAW. All the chords are there right in front of you regardless of key. You can play and experiment. You can do that with real instruments, but you fall into habits I haven't yet played the latest version, but I am a little disappointed in its features. The old Omni-Chord let you record chord sequences. This one does not. The cartrages are pointless. If you wanted prerecorded material, you could use any kareokee format. The new one looks solid, but I want them to play to its strengths as a songwriting tool. Give me back the performance recording or a sequencer. Let me easily export it to a midi file to bring into a DAW to use as the core of a new song. Bring back the Omni-Chord name. It makes more sense and is catchier. Give us some cheezy sounds (which are often fun) along with some really good ones for at least piano and guitar. Bring the price way down. The technology isn't worth the price. At one fifty I would buy them as presents. Give us iPhone and Android apps to extend function.Eddie

This is a bit much to be called a toy. A few features are great. For instance, it is not possible to play an incorrect note, it's only possible to lack a sense of timing by the user. The finger bridge is designed to play only those notes that go with the chords selected for the song. It didn't take long to figure out how to play it even without reading the instructions (although that certainly helps). The add-on cartridges appear to be in short supply, so order all you can right away.brosenau
