The looks are good for stage (the audience doesn't look too closely at the f-holes), but I wouldn't frame the thing and hang it on the wall. But, that's not what it's for. I bought this because I am an ordinary mortal who cannot afford a Gibson 335. This eases my 335 lust quite handily. The neck intonation is precise, my guitar came set up ideally, it has a great palette of tones. Unlike a Gibson, it has only one volume and one tone control, so one accesses that palette of tone differently. A plus- I can do volume-pot roll-ons more easily than with a 4-knob setup. It stays in tune, and is happiest when playing with a good tube amp set just at breakup – it cleans up with the volume knob, fills its jockstrap when you crank it back up, and use a good overdrive pedal to take it over the top for leads. Epiphones seem to be, in my experience, some of the best-built Chinese guitars. Good tone, good playability and tuning stability, It's the first of my guitars that I grab when headed for a blues gig.the old bald guy
I love the Dot, but I am disappointed in the quality control. I purchased a jet black Dot and I could tell right off the bat that there were problems. The first clue was a scratchy pickup selector switch. The guitar is set up un-neccessarily high. Fortunately it is very easy to adjust the action height on this model. The biggest disappointment is the second day I went to pickup the guitar and cracks had started to develop on the neck! This one when directly back to MF and they seem to have been very helpful. This time around I chose the natural finish, because I want to see the neck wood and determine if I have a finish issue or a genuine structural issue. The Dot I sent back didn't seem to have a structural issue, but the finish at a minimum was below par. The second guitar I received seems to work really well and has consistent tone.Fred
The Epiphone Dot is a major bargain, especially when compared to the USA-made Gibson 335. It has outstanding tone right out of the box. Being a tone fanatic, I replaced the bridge with a Tonepros TPFG bridge with nylon saddles, pickups were replaced by Throbak SLE-101 humbuckers, and the tuners were replaced with Kluson Revolution locking tuners. Now it is an awesome tone monster, still for way less than you would pay for the Gibson 335. Players should be aware that the body is significantly larger than a Strat or a Les Paul — but that's what happens when semi-hollow resonance is what you're after. The center block design is very effective at eliminating unwanted feedback from your amp. Don't think you have to modify it to make it sing, like I said before, it packs a wallop even in stock form. What I do strongly recommend is to have a professional guitar tech or luthier give the guitar a pro setup, complete with truss bar adjustment and saddle adjustment.stonnman

Overall: I own several guitars and play a few styles. I've always wanted an Ibanez as its a "super-Strat", but bever pulled the trigger. Satriani is a big influence on me and love his axes. So I finally decided to get one.Why did I wait so long? This thing is easier to play than my Fender Strat, lighter than my Epi Les Paul and I'm not going to need to upgrade it like I did my Epi SG. Out of the box, I as blown away with its design and simple beauty. That flamed maple top!!! After tuning I ran it through some places. Holy $h@&! A little cleaning, a quick string change a light set up and boom! Best $400 I've spent since my Les Paul, and more fun to play!!
Overall: I am now in my 2nd day of ownership and I decided to set this extremely light and sexy purple (blemished) have not found one …down long enuff to read reviews.and ya if I could find something about it I dont like… well havent!. What's there not to love at the reasonable price and the abilities this ax possesses. 5way and quantum is a nice pxkge.what. would one expect? At fraction of the price on those high dollar "others".. This (and the blue with rosewood/hardtail) are my first Ibanezes. I mostly play strats and Les Pauls. As I understand it, these have been referred to as Super Strats, because of the double cutaway and the HH. The blue has a matching headstock and a five tone switch. The neck is the most comfortable I've played, the strings are evenly spaced and there's plenty of room for your fingers, even at the top. The satin finished body has the same feel as the neck and it weighs around 6 pounds. After I found the dragon eye (reverse matching headstock, maple fretboard and whammy) at the same price, I couldn't let go of the blue, so now I have two. I'm playing them through my Boss Katana, and it's a good match. Gotta say, it's a totally new guitar playing experience, and the only question is which one to pick up first. If you're thinking about an Ibanez, this would be the one (or two).Rich at the Beach

Received new guitar – fret buzz all over, bridge saddles were touching each other and causing vibration buzz. Originally, I raised action (still buzz) and then adjusted truss rod – still buzzing. Almost returned guitar due to bad buzz. (Utter frustration at this point) Tried one last thing: Loosened strings and started on low E string string (thickest string) – moved bridge saddles so not touching for all strings one by one ( string order E, A, D, G, B, E). Fret buzz or general buzz gone. Lowered string height first — still no buzz and then adjusted truss rod back to original position ( I added more relief originally but not necessary since neck bow was not problem) . Fret buzz still gone and now action is much lower and fast. Great guitar super light in weight – Have Vintage natural finish, finish has no gloss or very low gloss but looks great. Watch bridge saddles that our touching too much, mine had almost no space and jammed next to each other causing buzz or vibration. Watch for this problem on string changes, only need a tiny space.SolarEclipse

The slim D neck and finely finished fretboard affords comfort with low and fast action! The overall body integrity is impressive with attention to detail. I have been playing it exclusively for three weeks, and like a good book, it's hard to put down! Makes hours of otherwise monotonous practice FUN and enjoyable again! Just a slight problem with "honking," but it was very easy to adjust it away with the pickup height adjusters. I prefer this over my other two Ibanez Artcore AF types, and they are fine as well. My highest recommendation, especially if you can buy it for under $500.00, total! Sounds and plays like a $2-Grand Gibson when set up and intonated properly.rgwhitlock

This book is fine, the other reviewer has the same condition many reviewers have in which they buy something without reading the description or doing other research. This is the "Easy" version of the White Pages product where yes, the music is notated differently than actually played by the artists themselves but the melody is correct so it still sounds right. For myself it's helping greatly as I can work on my fretwork as I progress towards more difficult songs while still feeling as I'm getting somewhere because I can understand what I'm playing. I understand fully that I'm not the second-coming of Slash and am fine with that. I was interested in getting an electric guitar for my son and loved the idea of the Play-A-Tab. I tried out the guitar before wrapping it for Christmas and the entire package is great for the price! This thing is gorgeous! Everything about this guitar looks fantastic. The pickups are hot and sound killer! The neck is little wider and chunkier than I was expecting but it feels pretty good. The smooth satin finish on the back of the neck is a nice touch. I would give it 5 stars but it had two issues. One of the volume pots was having a problem and there is a small rough spot along the bottom of the neck. Other than that it's an awesome guitar!Jeff
Wish it was set up better. And for how much it costs should not have had flaws.JT
I haven't played in twenty years and wanted something that I could practice and grow with. The string were busted from shipping and I had to set the guitar up from scratch. All the tools were included except wire cutters and screwdriver (obviously). Easy access to the tension springs. The locking mechanism for the strings, the tuners, and action adjustments were quality. Tuning this Floyd Rose floating bridge was a tad bit hard, but the bridge itself seems good. Got it all set up and tuned, locked down the lock brackets which seem solid. I had to take thirty minutes to admire the cherry stain, the amazing Shredzilla monster inlay and Shredzilla inlay claws on the rest of the fretboard. There is an inlay around the edges of the body, neck, and headstock (carbon binding?), it's amazing. I see what is referred to as satin finish on neck, feels great compared to gloss on other guitars I've tried. Then the fun begins, plugged this monster into my interface, modulated through my DAW with Bias FX2 plugin, cranked the monitors, and started SHREDDING. Holeee faliiip!! This thing makes me feel like I know how to play! Very smooth, I must have gotten lucky on setting up the action, the pups are amazing too. Its set up F#, B, standard tuning. The F#, tried A also, isn't muddy at all. The Floyd Rose is a dream. I have been jamming a hardcore 8 to 10 hours a day because this guitar is so fun. I've only had to barely tune the F# slightly, it hasn't come unturned for twelve days!! I have had a Jackson six string, ESP LTD six string, and a Schecter nine string. Returned them all for not being as awesome as this. The reviews (which are slim for BC Rich) said this is a medium quantity guitar meant only for shredding. HA! This sounds so good on my clean channels too. Ok my newb brain is blown!
