I took a lot of years off and I had stock 10s on my G&Ls that was killing my hands so I played those for a while and endured my shortcomings as my hands were in training to regain the strength of my youth. Then made the switch to Ernie Ball Hybrid 0946s and that felt better but still felt like a battle when playing faster licks and solos. A friend suggested that I try the NYXL0942. Wow! I felt like I was in a time warp and back to my old self from years ago. These NYXLs have initially withstood my bending and time will tell to see if they are as tough as advertised. Also they feel like I am playing nylon strings so they are a lot more comfortable. Could be the lighter gauge but I think the string design also has something to do with that. The only thing I notice is that they do not ring out as loudly as my previous strings but it does not matter when you plug in. Really glad about these strings and will probably be putting these on all my guitars.MediumSexy

Overall: These really are the best strings out there. I've used them for… well, a very long time (too many years to count). They're bright, crispy, long-lasting, and nicely priced. I've tried other brands… really expensive strings (don't waste your money) to other strings like Ernie Balls (break really quickly)…. the D'Addario strings are the best. And the EXL120's are a good choice… easy to bend, but still hold tune well and are long-lasting. Obviously, as a gigging guitarist, I change strings every week, but I've had some of these on my practice guitars for several months at a time, and they still deliver. Just good strings.Tim
been playing 42 years and used XL120s for over 30. Tried other strings and ended up using Ernie ball for the last few years and decided i needed to try mid gauge 9.5s and compared these EXL120+ to Ernie Balls 9.5 strings and these strings have better tone and feel to me,so easy decision to go back to D'Addario. Ive really been listening and trying to get better tone from my guitar and accoustically these sound clearer to me and maybe rounder or less sharp then EB strings which seemed to have more fret buzz noise. the EXL120+ are not overly bright, the gauge is perfect because i have floyd rose and 10s were to stiff and i always thought 9s were to floppy,bright and thin sounding. I've never used a D'Addario strings before so I bought a set to try them out. The strings themselves are fantastic! They have great tone and playability at a very reasonable price. However, I absolutely hated the packaging. The way the bunch and wind all 6 strings together is not my cup of tea. I'm more of an individually wrapped kinda guy. These are for you if you tune lower than D or even C, their loud , their built to last , their cheap and yet at the same time the new string sound doesn't go away. D'Addario have been around this long for a reason. If you're new to 12-52 strings these are a great first set. Well first lets focus on the gauge as it is features, the thicker the string the longer it stays in tune and the louder and stronger the strings are. If you want to tune below D these are for you, you can get all the way down to open B or lower depending on your style. Not a huge jump from regular strings either so you won't have any problems adapting to them. Well the new string sound stays longer than most brands I've tried compared to my local guitar shops or fender super bullets which are hands down the worst brand. Plus they can really take the abuse of detuned black metal without any concern that they'll break, you can play these for an extended period of time until they rust and they'll still stay in tune. Only a few brands I keep coming back to as my store sells everything , these I can buy without any kind of hesistation because their cheap but yet have this awesome new string sound, that and like I said before their built to last.Jason Tallwood
I broke down and tuned to down a half step with these. I hear a massive difference with these, and for good reason. More mass, more power, more sustain. More Steel. These are more work to play on, no doubt. Harder to bend for sure. I imagine if you play on these for a week you'll have massive strength if you go back to a lighter gague. I dig em'. Looking for a pair of strings for youre heavy work with a bright nickel-wound sound? Youre search is over! These strings come with the standard Daddario quality so you know youre good. Daddario strins have never failed on me, I have to replace them because of the dirt after a couple weeks rather than because the strings break. This gauge is also appropriate for lower drop tunings. Absolutely great for Drop C tuning, but youll manage to get a good sound out of it even in drop B.

I tried heavier ones, they felt difficult and I had to down tune a lot. These one can be regular pitch or half down and even one whole step down in tuning and will stay fine. Drop to G for the bottom string will make that string just a bit sloppy however, but not bad. I like to play 10-46, and have done so for years just playing for myself creating new tones and tunes with 6 string ones. But 10-58 (7) sets become too heavy for me and bending hurts my finger joints. On my Ibanez RG7620, I have consistently used this set for 10 years I believe. Other brands have 9-52 7 string sets, but this is just a bit beefier 9-56. That is hard to find. They do not feel much less heavy in sound than 10-56 ones but are definitely easier to play. I got a 7 string that comes with 10-58 with 26.5" scale, I will change that one to 9-54 too. I have experimented and to try to reduce damage to my finger joints and tendons in the arm I may switch to 9's on 6 string guitars too. On 7-string guitars this is the only one that works for me. If you work out and have very strong forearm muscles, then heavier strings will be fine. I am sticking with the 9-54. I have not found another set with a 54 as the bottom string with 9 gauge for the rest. Life of strings: they last long, but not longer than Elixir or DR. They lose a bit of brightness and settle at a nice level and stay at this for months. I wish I could get this set in a coated version also. If you play the same 7 string every day 4 to 5 hours, I estimate with shred playing, change strings in two months (if you alway clean them after playing). I have had mine in for over 6 months now, i use a string cleaner. Every gauge has its own benfits and some cons, try several. They are ALL fun. I highly recommend these.7 string experimenter

I first got a set of these strictly to put on a guitar I was going to use for slide. AS I was stretching them out I realized they played fantastically, and the tone from my Tele was rich and full and easier to fret and bend then I ever thought they would be. I put the extra set I bought on another guitar of which I actually got the NYXL Balanced 10 set for and again it played wonderfully and was easy to play, easy to bend and the sound was enormous and full! I change strings a lot. I am very cost conscious and conservative with my money. These strings are 2.5x more expensive than the standard string. I have been wanting to give them a shot so I bought the 11's and them10's. I am a heavy handed player and do a lot of bending. I can only do one 4 hr gig with 10's without breaking no matter what I do with standard strings. I got 3 1/2 gigs out of the 10's before I broke the high E. Very good for me! They DO stay in tune much better as well. It was very noticeable to me how much more stable they were. Excellent! I am using the 11's now and expect 4-5 gigs from them. I love this little amp. I love it more than my Roland 20XL or Vox VT15. I dont need a bunch of models, effects, or lots of watts for my mancave room. This amp is perfect. Just plug in and play. A few simple controls and great tone. Clean and overdrive channels are great. So many different tones to achieve with just 4 knobs. Volume is perfect for my mancave without disturbing rest of family at house. Ive had it for a few weeks and its the only amp I use now. I do miss reverb built in but theres always pedals. I was a bit skeptical buying this amp online without trying it first. But many reviews and youtube videos made me take the risk. I don't regret buying this amp. I doubt you will too. Rock on!Ricky
Affordable and awesome sounding amplifier. I did a lot of research before buying this amplifier and really liked the sound of any VOX products I saw. Although these are a bit more expensive than traditional Nicole wound strings, they're totally worth it. They're super smooth which actually makes a noticeable difference and there's no finger scraping sound when up and down the neck. Only downfall is they're so smooth, pick scrapes are non existent so it's back to divebombs!!!Christopher N

I use these strings on 2 different scale length guitars currently. One is a 26.5 and the other is a 27 inch scale 7 string. The package says they are balanced for a 25.5 inch scale but they work well with my current setup without unnecessary extra tension. They work great for the standard tuning setup of a 7 string but I currently am using drop A tuning as well as drop G# and the tension is still excellent. I have no tried these strings on a multi scale guitar yet so I am unsure of how they would perform but I would imagine the strings would be even more balanced ina multi scale configuration.JASON

I had struggled in the past with standard 9s on a guitar with high output pickups and a warble-happy whammy bar. I find these strings to handle really nicely, a perfect amount of slick and grip (finger contact) and they positively scream in my current configuration. I've put them on a guitar that I don't play live often, and I find that the strings don't deteriorate over time with the guitar being left in the case. This is very subjective and a question of personal chemistry. I mean, I've seen players go through a pack of the best "long-lasting" string on the market in one night, so it'll always come down to which material lends itself to your handling. I wanted to go with a higher quality string since I would be using such a light gauge. The NYXL series does not disappoint. Recently bought a Tele with an older set of D'Addario's on it. I'd never used them (been an Ernie Ball man since the 80's) and thought I'd give 3 identical sets (I use 9-46 EB's) a try on different guitars (Tele, Strat, LP). I have to admit that decades of EB use must taint my opinion, which is that the D'A's seem less lively sounding dynamically. They do feel more stable somehow when flat-picking… and I like that same sense of 'stability' when finger picking individual chord notes around the first 4 frets. Power chords have a better mid-range tonality perhaps. Glad I tried them, but it takes me months to come to any great conclusion…. will continue to be open minded (while I keep Ernie Ball's on my others).islandtomyself
These are on of the best sets of guitar strings you can buy these days. They are very bright sounding strings and also not squeaky sounding either because they are relatively smooth in comparison to others. I believe that they retain their new sound for longer as well. Only downside for me is that this multipack of strings are NOT individually wrapped in their own packaging so each string has to be separated from the other 5 in the pack when fitting them to your guitar. This may well save on paper packaging but I find this very irritating. I was saying to myself at the time I wish that they were old faithful Ernie Balls which are all individually wrapped. In fairness though, the string ferrules are colour coded so you don't get mixed up as to which string is which.fireball14017

These strings sound and feel great on my 12-string Strat. My only complaint is that I think the lower-octave G-string should be wound, not plain steel. My solution was simply to buy a bunch of single D'addario 18W strings to supplement these sets. Worth it for the improvement in intonation and tonal balance with the E, A and D octave pairs.captdusty
The price was good, but the strings sound toppy real bad. I am constantly having to adjust because of buzzing. I wouldnt normally suspect the strings for the buzzing, but there was no buzzing before and I have to regularly adjust to make it stop. Which Im sure throws off my intonation and action. Not worried to much about action on this 12 string. Thinking of switching out the primary 6 to se if that fixes it.tomdarton

Y'know how heavy round wound bass guitar strings just don't have any flexibility?? Well EXL220 XL Nickel Round Wound Super Light Bright Electric Bass Strings aren't that, they're super loud and super flexible, and I'm a semi-pro player from the 70s and 80s and I'm from the day when Rotosound and GHS BOOMERS were all the rave. These are good strings. Good tone. Well balanced and they don't break the bank. I use several different sets of strings but these are always in rotation and I can't say one bad thing about them. I use them on all my Fender jazz basses and they perform like many strings I've used that cost twice the price. These are very good strings, especially for the price (about $15.) The nickle winding is excellent and give them a bright sound. I think that they are as good as any light gauge string at any price.
