Custom Built Electric Guitar For Sale (2023 Update)

This is my first Gibson guitar purchase. I waited over 5 months for this guitar to arrive. I've had it for a few days now and I'm trying to process how this guitar passed Gibson Quality Assurance. The guitar for the most part sounds amazing, plays pretty good, despite action being higher than I expected. However, the reason for the low rating is craftsmanship is poor, the finish on the back of the guitar is different than what's advertised, and I didn't get the case it was supposed to come with. The fretboard has glue stains all over it, which I know is something that can be cleaned up. But what's most disturbing are the dents on the fretboard and these two hole punches on the 11th fret. I don't even think Epiphones are this bad. The top looks amazing otherwise and the guitar sounds great. I've made inquiries to Musicians Friend, twice. I was promised to receive a call from someone in the Private Reserve department or a supervisor. No one has called back. So I took matters into my own hands and called Gibson. They told me to email photos and they would make an exception to cover shipping costs back to them(thank you, Gibson!). However after I emailed Gibson, I never heard anything back and I'm not sure how they're going to fix the holes on the fretboard. This doesn't seem like something that's fixable. For spending this kind of money, I expected so much better from both parties. If I wanted a used Gibson with a mismatched case, I would've bought one for much less. It's very disturbing nobody from Musicians Friend is taking this matter seriously given the amount of money I've spent on this guitar. Anyone considering purchasing any instrument from Musicians Friend, especially one that is high end, I strongly suggest shopping elsewhere. They don't stand by the products they sell. I'm still holding out hope Gibson is gonna take care of this issue and make this right. Thank you, Musicians Friend for being my "friend" and advocating for me. (sarcasm)gofarkid

Overall: In a word: ******* amazing. No matter the price, you would think a guitar sitting in a warehouse for any length of time would need a setup. Not with this Wine Red Les Paul Custom! The only caveat is it was completely out of tune (to be expected); a little "nut sauce" and it was good as gold. And that lacquer smell still haunts my house! Well worth it…Mere words are not enough to describe the sound and the power with this guitar. It blows away my 2014 Traditional (a nice guitar in its own right); it is not even a comparison. The neck is so much easier to play. Fit and finish are flawless. In closing: save your money, eat Ramen noodles for a year if you must, wear your hole-in-the-crotch jeans for as long as necessary and BUY THIS GUITAR!Jeff

She's a beautiful looking guitar and sounds awesome with the Seymour Duncan Quarter-Pound pickups! I can not set this guitar down. The korina wood body produces a great tone and Duncan pickups just expand on it. I was looking for a T-style guitar. I tried many and for the money and quality, this was the best in my opinion! I received a great deal on it from Sam Ash and highly recommend them for purchasing any instrument. Their staff is top notch, very professional, very knowledgeable, and go the extra step to ensure you have a great playing/sounding instrument before you leave their store! My PRS cu 22, is not only one of best sounding guitars I've ever played, it's playability is non less than excellent. The neck and fretwork are so smooth and natural. Tonal selections? Yep, plenty. And ofcourse the overall beauty and workmanship in this guitar is above my expectations.Mike

The Peavey Raptor Plus guitars, especially the EXP editions, are very undervalued and underappreciated. Quality components, great necks, wonderful playability. That they can be purchased all day long for less than $200.00…sometimes under a $100.00…is like giving a prospective buyer a license to steal! The neck and body are worth that — not to mention some pretty fair sounding pickups. All in all, the best low-priced guitars on the market!brujazz_7

Two words. Love it! But apparently I need to have more than that. I actually tried this guitar out at a music shop in another state. I was going to go back to them and buy it, but I found it online for the same price minus the gas. I have bee very pleased with it though I haven't gotten to play it as much as I want to because my toddler son also wants to play.brotha777

By far the easiest T-Type I have played. The shape of the neck and the Pau Ferro fingerboard are very comfortable. The Fralin pickups sound great.Richard

Love the feel of the neck in my hands. It's smooth and thin. The tones are amazing and it's the best looking of all of my guitars. The only issue is the pick guard produces static. I put shielding tape on it and packed the cavity but it stills produces static. I'll take it to a luthier and get that worked out but over all love the guitar.Al

So there are people out there who think BC Rich sold out with this Stranger Things themed release. Whether that is true or not it doesn't take away from the fact that this is a great quality guitar. The neck is the high point for me. This is the best bolt on neck I've ever played. I would say it's better than a actual 85 Stealth NJ series neck that I own. Frets are silky smooth, not sharp at all. The paint overall is great and I don't see any imperfections. Could the crackle be better? Yes… is it bad? No. If you want a better crackle buy the run of 200. Only complaints are that the pictures were advertised with a run of 200 and now it's 2000. Takes away from the collector value. The electronics are horrible. But that was to be expected, the Floyd rose is cheap. The pros outweigh the bad which isn't a big deal. Great 80s themed guitar. Also the gig bag it came with is really nice.. Worth the buy.Nick

This thing is killer. Fantastic attention to detail. Even if you are not into Stranger Things it is still well worth the money. The Red Crackle finish is awesome and there were only 1000 made with (the other 1000 are the black finish). Also comes with a very nice B.C Rich gig bag which fits it perfectly. Dont bother spending 5K on the Custom Shop version as this will be the one to have.Kevin

Excellent quality! Neck and frets are perfect, pickups sound great clean or high gain, and quality control is on point! No neck dive or anything either! Oh, and can't forget how awesome the crackle finish is!!!! I personally like this better than my old 87' USA BCR gunslinger. My only complaint is it was advertised to come with a FR 1000 and came with a special. They've since fixed this and the bridge works great either way. This guitar is a game changer for this company! Get it while you can!!!!!Josh

This is without a doubt the best guitar that I've ever played. The guitar sustains like crazy and it screams when you do vibrato. If you have not tried out a PRS, you need to. I can't put in words how great this guitar is. I own a masterbuilt custom guitar that is 3 times the price of this one and the PRS puts it to shame. I first started playing guitar around the age of 15. Recalling the first experience of being on the stage was definitely thrilling. I remember that I sometimes forgot to breathe while playing, often switched to a wrong pedal, and even had to bend down to pick up the pick I had dropped. I got this PRS 509 after seven years of playing as a christmas gift, and things worked out way better while jamming in my bedroom. An awesome gear don't make you a professional guitarist overnight, but I still feel awkward and curious about where that courage and skill have come from at all of sudden. I probably will have this guitar with me for the rest of my life.Patrick
