I picked up the Surf Green Ltd Ed. Bullet Mustang a few days ago off the rack. They had two. One had rusty strings and sharp frets but the one I picked was almost perfect. These Mustangs are great for smaller learners and older guitarists that may enjoy the lighter string tension due to the short scale. I love the sound of both humbuckers. The bridge one gives you a nice grungy Nirvana like tone while the neck is smoother but both love to be driven. I picked up the Imperial Blue Mustang HH a few weeks ago. They both use the same humbuckers, The only difference I believe is the wood type, Basswood vs Poplar. Both guitars are quite light with the Basswood Surf Green one being somewhat lighter.These Mustangs are ideal for modding but for now I've only changed the cheap pickguard on this Surf Green one, putting a Tortoise Shell on it. So far I'm loving both of them and my Fender P90 Mustang is getting quite lonely.Tingman
First of all, this is a ton of value for the price. I got it on sale which made it even a bigger steal. Now, this guitar needs a lot of setup out of the box. You should polish the frets since they are as coarse as beach sand. Otherwise, string bends will be impossible and will most likely damage the cheap supplied strings (which should be changed immediately as with most new guitars). Expect some fret buzz, so be ready to adjust the saddles and the truss rod (I like my action quite low so this was a minor tweak for me). The intonation was actually quite close to perfect, it only needed a bit of tweaking on the A string. The nut and string trees are the ones you typically get on Squiers, which are good enough but won't do wonders for your tuning and should be replaced unless you are patient enough to tune your guitar every so often. Be sure to change these first before changing the tuners/bridge if you have tuning problems, I haven't changed the tuners or bridge on mine and don't plan to – they just work. Finally, the pickups are surprisingly good for the price, not too mellow and you can get some nice tones from the bridge pickup. You might soon outgrow them, though, and might opt for better humbuckers or P90s. For all these reasons, this guitar is not the best as a first guitar or for beginners unless it gets a proper setup first or if you're really planning to learn how to setup or change electronics/other parts in a guitar. However, those are the same reasons (plus the low price and simple design) that make this a really fun modding platform, and if you don't feel like modding it, with the right amount of work it's still amazing. It's light as a feather and the neck is very fast; you can probably muscle through hours of playing with barely any effort at all. The stock tones are reasonable enough, and in my opinion it looks awesome. You can't get a better deal for the money once you're aware of the above.Carlos, M
I like this guitar because of the 24" scale length. Everything else was pretty bad out of the box. The strings were a 1/4" off the fretboard. The fretboard was super dry. There was fret sprout. The frets felt like sandpaper on bends. The E strings are too close to the edge of the fretboard. When you play you're constantly hitting the pickup selector switch. The finish on the neck is supposed to be satin but it looks unfinished to me and there are light and dark areas on the neck which look bad. It is the worst finish on a neck I've ever seen on a guitar and I'm going to have to put some kind of finish on it. Trying to load strings is tricky and not as easy as on most other guitars you have to bend the end of the strings to get them to load. So that is the bad. The good? The tuners are your typical Chinese tuners that come on all cheap guitars these days, and they are fine. The pickups sound good. The 24" scale is great and really fun to play bends on!Steve

I decided, after months of thought, to try my hand at guitar playing once again. At the age of 66, I'm not anticipating being on stage. I simply felt like fiddling around with a decent guitar at home; sort of as a hobby of sorts. After checking out numerous guitars and amps, I decided the Squire Bullet series was a good fit. I bought the Limited Edition in red sparkle. I also bought a Fender Champion 20 amp. The pros: A really nice looking guitar. No visible flaws. Nice slim neck, excellent for those looking for a great starter guitar, especially if your hands and fingers aren't big/huge. Could be a potential candidate for modification further down the line. Super pick ups for a guitar in this price range! Cons: One, some fret buzz on the 5th and 6th string. Not 100% sure though that this is caused by the guitar or my novice playing skills.Joe G.
This was my first guitar and I must say the feel is better than my American standard strat. It's very light, the Finnish is stunning and keeps in tune pretty well. Although there were a few minor flaws for one one of the screws running heads popped off. I was just playing and I popped off. Another thing the pickups are really really sensitive and playing through an amp will make it sound dirty. Also the frets will buzz a bit.Lastly some of the fret ends were minor lay sharp. This guitar is good but it had a "cheap" fell to it. I would only recomend this for beginnersColin
It's a cheap guitar. Don't kid yourself – this isn't some custom shop rarity. But: with the red metal flake finish and playing the ones in the inventory to find the best one, it's a bargain and a ton of fun. I've always wanted a red metal flake electric guitar, but that's not exactly everyones cup of tea. But this is the sort of axe that will dazzle the audience – it looks like a much more expensive guitar. It plays nicely enough after some time for basic setup. A friend asked me to find him a good guitar that's not too expensive. I ended up buying the Guild Bob Marley A20 on his behalf and it's mind-blowing ! This guitar is fantastic. It is loud and the set up is superb straight from the box. It is bright, resonant and comfortable. I tried a few others in the shop but this one was much much better and a third of the price to some others that I tried. If you're looking for a great guitar in the £300-£400 range get this one. I ordered this guitar on the approval that if I liked it I it i would buy it. After de boxing I tuned the guitar and started playing it. I was absolutely amazed at the action, playability, sound and just how good the guitar was straight out of the box. It’s a beautiful Bob Marley signature guitar with lots of extras, and the only guitar I’ve every bought where a new tree is planted for every guitar sold. Just got my guitar yesterday. Here are my thoughts. The packaging was decent and in the original Mitchell box. The guitar itself was in excellent condition and it was brand new. The piece is a beauty. It feels good only two issues. One is that the fret ends are a bit rough and second the truss rod cap was a bit loose. Other than that the guitar is beautiful. It plays very decent and I am a beginner so won't be able to give a very technical input.Numair
I have a few Mitchells, and none are bad guitars, though I have had to work on every single one of them, and this one was no exception. The guitar itself has a decent feel, and the pickups aren't horrible. I did have to do some big neck adjustments and file down some frets to get rid of fret buzz and dead frets. After some time working on it, I do enjoy playing it. It's really good for sitting around practicing if you want to save mileage on your more expensive guitars. I cannot say however that I would recommend this guitar unless you know how to work on it.Gorden
I bought this for my daughter and am experienced at guitars set ups. Out the the box its ok for a beginner. But Not for me. So I adjusted the neck and action. Intonation was way off. Neck adjusted easily. Action I was able to get to 1.75mm at 12th fret on low e with no fret buzz. Same as my ESP guitar. The guitar did intonate perfectly. Pickups are fine for a beginner. After a good set up I would play the guitar. Pickup is just ok. If you are a serious player then this guitar could be great as a beater. Proper set up. Vuy a used Seymore Duncan off ebay and throw in the bridge for cheap. Rough up paint and spray the finish with a can up duplicolor and clear coat it. Im considering getting one for myself and doing all of the above. I would have less than $200 in it. I guitar I keep on stand, not case and grab to play. If I ding it up I don't care. The neck was a little rough. I hit with 7000 grit paper and the neck is fast and good. Or if they lower price on other colors to $99 I might buy one of each color.dwsguitars

Im really digging this guitar. I needed a travel guitar for some upcoming trips and went through the rungs. Tried the martin backpacker and traveler rm sp, but neither met my needs. The martin limits you to 15 frets and the rm sp wasnt that much smaller than my Taylor GS mini. Weve got a young one and traveling with him brings a whole slew of extra things that have to be included in a trip. My wife was not having us give up one of our carry-ons for a guitar and case. The ultra-light is perfect, and I can throw it in my back pack (in its case) with just a little of the neck hanging out. Thus, not having to give up a carry-on. Its perfect. Went with the electric too over the acoustic/electric version because of the tune-o-matic type bridge and saddles. Stellar product. Lastly, the size and sound unplugged are perfection for playing around on with others in the room and not bothering them. It actually makes me play more now.
I never knew why some guitarists have a favorite guitar and even name them. (I own several higher-end guitars and to me, they're just tools.) I purchased a black Traveler Ultra-Light some time in 2019 thinking it was a "cheapie" but good enough to stuff in an overhead bin of an airliner whenever I traveled. I was certainly impressed at how the guitar played and how well it was made, despite the low price. Since then it's been with me everywhere. But that's not how it came to be my favorite guitar. Last November I was hospitalized for 4 days. Because of Covid going around, I couldn't have visitors so I asked my wife to bring me my Traveler so I wouldn't be bored to death. That's when I fell in love with this little guitar. Because I had my own room and because my vitals were checked every hour, I spent a LOT of time playing. And because of its size and how light it was, I could play it in bed. AND it kept my mind off of what I was going through… a big plus for the road to recovery. Today, I purchased my second one in Torino Red and ordered some blacked-out locking tuners so I can keep it at my other place out of state. As for the black one, I'm not leaving that anywhere…. it's staying here with me!
I love this little guitar. I bought mine from the GC store. I have Taylor GS mini for my RV, but it's still too big and too loud in a small rv with others. I saw the Traveller guitars and thought I'd go to a GC and try it out. I'm too new at this so got the GC sales person to play so I could hear the difference using a big amp. The ones with the pickups were hot and a little bitey for me as I only really play acoustic. The Piezo pickup acoustic sounded mellow and it was on the guitarathon sale for 100 dollars off. That tipped it for me. It's small, extremely light and when unplugged, extremely quite quiet. It's so small, I'm finding that I pick up this one more than the regular guitars. Bear in mind, it's not acoustic or electric, so it's not going to sound like anything else. I bought a headphone amp and also use a regular amp when I can be loud. When practicing unplugged at night, it's loud enough for me, but nobody else can hear it. Also, I've found that if I press it tightly to my side, the lower notes reverberate in my chest. With the acoustic pickup there is no tone or volume controls, so everything has to be done through the amp. I'm getting used to that. With no body and only the wire bottom, it takes a little time before it begins to feel normal. The only negative is if I don't hit the notes perfect, I can get some fret buzz. All in all, it's so different from any other guitar, I would suggest trying it in person first. You will either love it or hate it. And remember it's a small travel guitar you can also use regularly. Play it both amplified and unplugged and see if you think it will work for you.Mike

Overall, this is a good guitar. I'm having a good time with it, the neck is comfortable, the pickups sound really good and handle high-ish gain surprisingly well, and the color (I got the Daphne blue) looks incredible. Taken as a whole, if you're in the market for a Jazzmaster with all the classic JM features but don't have a ton of money to spend, I'd recommend it for sure. If you're going to buy it though, just be aware of a few things… 1.) It'll need a setup. Out of the box, the tuning stability was fine but once I used the vibrato a little bit, it went way out. The action wasn't bad but could be better and the neck may need a half degree shim. I'm probably going to end up putting a Fender AVRI vibrato on it eventually but a decent setup should make the stock one perfectly usable. 2.) It needs a good cleaning. This could very well just be the specific one that I got but the neck and headstock had a lot of dust and a slightly cloudy residue on them, the fretboard was very dry, and the frets were scratchy. None of these were anything that a little lemon oil, fretboard conditioner, a microfiber cloth, and some 0000 steel wool couldn't take care of but it's still something to be aware of. Note though that, while the frets were scratchy, their weren't any sharp fret ends. 3.) It probably isn't a great first guitar. I've seen this said a few times in other reviews and I completely agree. That's not to say that it isn't a good guitar because it is. More that it's not the most user-friendly instrument right away and could be off-putting to a beginner. A pro setup will do it a world of good and make it much easier to play but if you're in the market for a first guitar, look elsewhere. Am I glad I bought it? Yes. I mean, it's a Daphne blue Jazzmaster with a comfortable neck and awesome pickups! I don't mind working on my guitars a bit though, so none of the problems I talked about above bother me in particular. However, if you're looking for a plug-in-and-play guitar right out of the box, this one might not be for you.Jackson
I waiting on this on backordered for a few months (shell pink) and started to worry after looking at a bunch of YouTube reviews. Action, fret ends and leveling were great out of the box (which I really am not up for fixing; esp on a bound fingerboard). Frets could prob use a polish, but that's a lesser concern to me. No shim needed with 09s so far. I feel like recent shipments corrected some of the common complaints of this line… YMMV. I think the the nut is pinching a bit and the trem pivot is jumping a bit so I might go in and see if I can smooth it out. Pickups are microphonic under gains and comp… and I'm not sure if they are RWRP yet. One of the reason I went with MF is that if I wasn't satisfied I could go right into GC and trade towards and CV Jazzmaster. But overall pretty satisfied and think this will be a good first offset and short scale add to the collection.David
I want to love this guitar. Unfortunately however, I will have to be taking this one to a luthier to be set-up due to the neck. Everything for the most part is beautiful, it's a Jazzmaster. Fantastic dark, spanky jazzmaster tones, beautiful tortoise-shell guard, and the very eye-catching very elusive shell pink finish. Switches all seem to be in working order, though due to the position of the neck pickup to the strings right out of the box, the rhythm circuit will be noticeably quieter. Easy fix. I am unsure about the stability of the bridge, which is a Mustang bridge- a HUGE improvement, as I've seen in other reviews that the screwposts loosen by vibration. Vibrato does not return to tune. There is a very strange, unclean grime of some sort on the metal plate of the vibrato piece. I was unfortunate enough to receive a poorly conditioned neck, with glue residue left behind surrounding the tuning pegs on the face of the headstock. The lacquer finish is beautiful and is fine to play on. The fretboard is noticeably dry as well as the frets are unfinished, both feeling scratchy, and the frets being too rough to perform clean bends on. Not sure if it's the neck, the frets, or the bridge piece, or any of the three in combination that is causing the strings to be unable to bend even a half note without losing vibration, or being pinched off. Fret markers are a dark, cheap pearl. Overall, the fretboard itself just feels like Squier Affinity line quality. My impression is that most of the cost of this guitar- to keep it in line with the technologically cheaper instruments (telecaster the same price as a jazz, etc)- went into the body finish, and electronics. However, in the end I still love this thing and cannot wait to hear it sing once I get it set-up.Tyler

First of all, sorry that this is in english but maybe somebody will still find it useful. I ordered two of this exact model. I sent the first one back due to a quality issue. The first guitar was well set up, played really well, sounded great, and looked beautiful but at the top of the neck there was a very small gap between the fretboard and the neck. It was about 0,5 mm in height and about 3 cm in width on both sides of the neck. It was small but you could feel it with your hand every time you played over it. Anybody would notice it upon inspection and I am quite surprised that it got past both the Gibson quality control and the Musicstore check. This is the reason for the lower score on “Verarbeitung”. Now, was it a showstopper? For me, it was, considering the price of the instrument. For others, it may not have been and to be honest I thought long and hard before sending it back because it was otherwise a really excellent instrument and I’m sure some people may have decided to keep it. Kudos go out to the Musicstore.de for making absolutely no fuss about taking it back. I will certainly consider buying from this store again in the future. Now, to the second guitar I received: What can I say? It is a wonderful instrument that has THE sound. I usually play a Telecaster but wanted something Gibson-ish for a more humbucker-type sound. This has that sound, so if you are looking for a classic Les Paul sound, you will not be disappointed. Unlike the first guitar which seemed set up quite well by the Musicstore, the second one was not. This is not a problem for me as I am familiar with setup work but if you are not, then you may need to take the guitar to a good luthier once you receive it in order to get the most out of it. So that is something to consider when buying. Mine was pretty off and didn’t seem like anyone spent more than 3 minutes setting it up which was a bit disappointing considering that I know (based on calls to the store) that the delivery was being held back for over a week because it was waiting to be checked and set up. The truss rod had been adjusted quite right but the intonation was way off, the action was “ok”. The pickups seemed untouched and the height was off leading to an imbalanced sound. These are all minor things and it didn’t bother me because I like to set up my own guitars anyways but it should be noted that there seems to be a diffrerence in attention to detail between whoever is doing the setups at the store. That said, once set up properly, this thing is a killer! It is a tone and sustain monster! As far as workmanship goes, I can’t find any noticeable flaws. The finish is beautiful and the binding is very well done. The fretboard was extremely dry and needed to be oiled right away. This is typical Gibson and a bit annoying but also not a real issue that can’t fixed with a few drops of lemon oil and 2 mins of work. One last thing to note, the guitar is heavy. The fist one weighed 4.6 Kg and the second one weighs 4.4 Kg. That is normal for a Les Paul but you should know that in advance in case that is important to you. Reading back what I wrote above may seem negative but it is only so others know what to expect. All in all, I’m very happy with the guitar and would buy it again but for the price, I would’ve expected a bit more attention to detail.
I love this guitar, its my first LP and my first guitar with p90s but my fourth Gibson. The Gibsons I bought in the mid 2000s were frankly disappointing but this and the one prior (a red figured-top 335) are excellent. I was looking for something that could give me the clarity of my Strat with the warmth of my 335. I'm still not used to this new world of buying guitars from the internet (in my youth many hours were wasted not-buying but playing guitars at Guitar Center and elsewhere). Anyway this LP didn't disappoint, the fit and finish are good although not perfect I can see on the back areas that needed to be sanded a bit better before lacquer (but you have to look and want to see the imperfections). The top is flawless, the neck might be my favorite neck on any guitar I own (I've heard it tracks the 54' neck), the pots work linearly and smoothly and are connected by the orange drop caps, the pickups are amazing. The P90s do exactly what I hoped they would, move from warm cleans to crunch. Tons of harmonics, touch sensitive like my strat but with a fuller top end. People complain about the 60cycle hum and it is present but not much worse than my humbucker guitars. Ive also heard people complain that the bridge pickup lacks power, I found it was slightly anemic, however I adjusted the pickup height and the problem was solved (yes you can adjust p90 pickup height). if you have read this far you know what you want. If you can swing the money go for it you won't be disappointedJoel
I've had my 50s Cherry Paulie for about 2 weeks now. After stubbornly disagreeing with the hype of Les Pauls, I decided to give one a go. WOW! Be aware this will not be the crunchiest pickup set, (try the 60s in store to compare.) I'm used to the lightweights of the Gibson family (SG&339,) so this was quite a contrast for me. Specifically the heel on the Les Paul is huge, comparatively, so there's a bit of a learning curve on the higher end of the board. The Alnico II magnets create the "iconic 70s rock sound" that many search for. My only question stems from this new nut they give. I don't like how far they cut the string into the nut, and it could be creating an action/buzzing issue on the low E. Upon looking at other 2021 productions online, it looks like it is a common occurrence.Jack

I purchased this guitar when it was $95 off full price. So that kind of makes it a worthwhile purchase. Definitely not worth full price in my opinion. Poorly packed with insufficient padding in the box allowed two of the strings to be bent during shipping. I assume this happened during shipping. They wouldnt send bent strings right? Thankfully they provided back up strings… The nut is very poorly crafted. You can visibly see burrs and imperfections in the nut that cause the strings to ring out of tune on certain parts of the fret board even after tuning. The pick-up selector nob fell right off first time I adjusted it. I will have to glue it myself. When the notes do play out true the triple pick ups sound better than the Peavy beginner guitar I used to have– Which only had two pickups and came in a similar starter package but was about half the price as this guitar. I think if I research how to fix some of the issues I can make it playable. But this guitar is far from playable out of the box. Fairly poor quality control.Cody
I was looking forward to ordering this as my first guitar after taking some classes a couple years back. The shipping was remarkably fast–however, when the product arrived the amp was completely broken. Upon plugging the guitar into the amp and strumming, it would make a horrendous scratching, broken sound. Plucking strings has the exact same effect, and occasionally the amp will cut off after a second of playing. I've tried adjusting the dials, turning overdrive on and off, I even bought a new cord thinking that was the issue to no avail. To make matters worse I have called the customer support number multiple times asking if I could recieve a partial refund, or ship back the amp for a functioning replacement–every time I'm left on hold before the call disconnects, if I can even get through to begin with. The only reason this isn't a one star review is that the guitar itself works fine and looks beautiful! I wouldn't reccomend buying the full set if they don't bother to make sure one of the most essential parts is functioning before shipping however.James B.
I worked outside for my father for a good many weeks while the guitar was on sale, and when I got it, I had mixed emotions. After a few days, the gig bag started to rip and now theres a big hole in it. Its still usable, but it isnt really well made. Also the bag isnt really protective. Its more decorative. The strings on it and the other ones were both junk, my local guitar shop guy told me that himself, but strings are moderately priced, and most of the time they last a while, so thats not much of a deal. The amp is lower end, and the cable that plugs into the amp and the guitar started to show copper wire around 2 weeks after purchase. It still works, but it should have lasted longer. And the stand on the amp didnt hold up at all, the plastic on it broke and now it wont angle so the sound comes at your face. But other than that its a good purchase, i would just suggest to just buy the guitar alone, and buy the amp separately, instead of the kit, but that may get expensive, so check out those options and compare them to this product and decide for yourself. My local guitar shop guy told me that the guitar itself is great quality though, but there are more expensive guitars out there, its a great guitar to start out with. Another side note, not relating to the quality of the guitar, but for beginners, how to learn how to play it fast. I suggest buying Rocksmith 2014 with this for PC, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, Xbox One and other game consoles. Although it is expensive, the cable that comes with it counts as $20 dollars of it, and it actually surprisingly works! I started playing the game in late june or early july this year and I learned pretty quickly, to the point where I am now thinking about combining lessons and the game together to speed up the learning process even faster. I bought this guitar for my 6 year old daughter for her first guitar. I got the pink version, and it is VERY pink – brighter than it looks in the pictures. It's quite striking, and I kind of want to play it on stage just for aesthetic effect. It's a solid starter guitar. Nothing fancy sound-wise. Playability is good with a comfortable neck that plays smoothly. The sound is what you should expect in a low-cost guitar. Out of the box there was quite a bit of fret buzz, and even with some set-up, there is flat, buzzy sound to the guitar when not plugged in that makes it sound "cheapis." Plugged in, again, it sounds like what you should expect out of a starter electric. There is very little sustain – I'd say around 4 seconds of sustain, which might be a big deal if you want to play lead on this using it as performance guitar. I'm not using it for that, nor will my daughter. For a starter guitar, it's good. She's already learned a few chords. Her hands and arms are still far too small too really put this guitar to use, but I can see her growing nicely into the smaller scale neck, which should work well for her small frame. In other words, the fact that my daughter is too small is more a reflection of my daughter, rather than of the guitar. The guitar is a good size for a young learner. She squeeled when she opened it! She really loves the guitar and has played it every day since Christmas. If you're in the market for a starter guitar either for a child or adult, you won't go wrong with this. If you're an experienced or professional musician who's looking to perform on stage, I'd say this guitar doesn't really fit the bill, but then again, no guitar in this price range is really going to do that. For comparison, I played an Epiphone Les Paul for years that I liked better both feel and sound-wise, but an Epiphone is a little more expensive and certainly not as visually striking. Sound: This guitar I by far the smoothest I have ever played. The tone is great and playing leads on it is like no other. Features: Everything about this guitar is perfect from the type of wood to the electonics. Ease of Use: This is an easy guitar to play if you have experience. Beginners will have to get used to it. The jumbo frets is where people will get messed up because of the spacing of the strings. Quality: This guitar will last a lifetime. Overall: My wife and children decided that I needed a new guitar so they got me this one in the purple finish. Unbeknownst to my wife, I have wanted this guitar for over twenty years, ever since I was a snot nosed punk of a metalhead. The last several years I have developed nerve damage that has made it harder for me to play because it has effected my hands. The thin U neck on this guitar makes it so I can play very easily for long periods so that is a plus. The pickups in this sound amazing. I've owned guitars with pretty much every type of pickup available, and I've never been a huge fan of active pickups, but the EMG bonebreakers have made a believer out of me. Out of the box this was set up very well, I might make some tweaks to it when I have more time, but for now it plays great. The floyd stays in tune no matter how much I divebomb, and I've been abusing it pretty hardcore the last day or so since getting it. The finish is a darker purple than what shows up in pictures. Think late 60's/early 70's plum crazy purple but with big shiny bass boat style glitter flakes in it. The case it comes with is a very nice ESP hard case. Clean the guitar sounds great, but dirty is where it seems to like to live. Great guitar for metal and MAYBE some cleaner bluesy stuff. Overall it's an awesome instrument that I for one am very happy to own.

For years Squier has been a popular brand of discount Fenders. They were often someone's first guitar. It was very rare that a guitar enthusiast would want to search out a Squier for their collection, once it was established. Squier has been seriously making a much better product in recent years. With their Paranormal line they have created guitars that are definitely worth owning. They are uniquely crafted, despite being made in China. Even the pickups are designed to be specific to the sound the guitar goes for. The Super Sonic is easily one of the most eye catching. With two volume knobs and two exceptionally juiced humbuckers, you will be surprised what this guitar brings to the table. It's sound can be explosive and heavy. It is made for overdrive pedals and tube amps. The tremolo is near perfect. Two bits of advice that you must know when you get this guitar; first it comes with the wrong type of strings on it. You will need at least 10s in a heavy gauge to make the tremolo work without it slipping out of tune. 9s will not cut it, so restring it first thing. Also the string action most often comes from the factory being too high. Make sure you have a small allen wretch. Adjust the string height is extremely easy, easier than all my Fenders, and it can go low. You get some low action on this guitar, with the tremolo working perfect, and that thick overdrive, you have yourself an addition to your collection that is very much worth the money. This was my first purchase from ProAudioStar. I ordered on Wednesday, it shipped on Thursday and arrived on Saturday. The guitar was well packed and arrived safely. The Squier Toronado itself is gorgeous with quality similar to the Classic Vibes. Frets are nice, finish is perfect, neck is straight, no obvious flaws (after 2 days at least!). The humbuckers are surprisingly bright, which is a good thing to me. The only word of caution is that the LPB finish is darker than usual. I have a LPB Stratocaster and the Toronado is significantly darker. I actually like the darker shade, it's just something to be aware of.AverageTortoise-819
A perfectly playable guitar at a sub $500 price point that’s a ton of fun as well! Pros: Short-scale, humbucker-equipped, independent volume and tone controls (all very un-Fender-like)! Cons: I would have preferred a satin finished neck; however, the gloss finish looks great, the pickups were set up waaaaay too low to even be really audible, one of saddle screws was stripped and fell out. One might assume with a description as a "student" guitar that somehow this is "less than". Well, any youngster that is fortunate to receive one of these could go "cradle to grave" if it met their sonic desire. The point is, this is a full-blown tone machine, the stepchild of the Telecaster and Stratocaster with a vibe all it's own. I barely notice the smaller scale, the fit, finish and build quality is excellent. For the price, this is beyond anything I could have expected. Out of the box, the set-up let me plug in and play. And boy did I play. 2 hours of pure joy. The neck profile fits my hand perfectly, satin finish on the back, a lightly tinted poly on the fingerboard, very comfortable. Weighs 7 pounds even, no neck dive, very balanced. The color is very easy on my eyes (first Lake Placid Blue guitar). As with all guitars, likely not for everybody. I am sure many may look down on this "budget" least expensive Fender, and that's a shame, as you could be missing out on something really special. Well, that is one person's opinion. Fenders Mexican-made guitars have a well deserved reputation for giving players a great value and the Duo-Sonic is no exception. The features, fit and finish are great, especially for the price point. But even setting aside the price and value, this Duo-Sonic is a great-sounding guitar thats a ton of fun to play. The neck pickup is nicely complemented by a splittable bridge humbucker and both produce good tones. The compact body and short 24 scale give the guitar a different feel than the other electric guitars I own so its a great change of pace after playing a Strat or Tele. I've always wanted an ML and this one looked so beautiful online. It's even better when it's in your hand. Pickups are awesome, nice full tone and great crunch on the distortion side. Love the matte finish on the back of the neck. It has great sustain too, you can feel the tone through the whole guitar when you play a note and I prefer that solid feel when I play. My only two complaints is there are a couple fingerprints under the clear coat on the back. Obviously missed during the QC checks at the factory. But they're barely noticeable and they're on the back. Gives it character to have a workers fingerprints as part of my guitar. The other thing is the frets could've been polished a little better. But when I changed the strings, I took another 30 mins and polished them and that was that. This is my 10th guitar and it's tied for number one favorite. I play it every day and love it. I bought the case for it as well, it's enormous, but great fit and quality.Will
Overall: I purchased a Dean EVO XM electric guitar awhile ago, at a very reasonable price, but the fret edges were sharp, and adjusting the neck for a modicum of playability was practically impossible! My mistake was leaving it back in it’s box, and missing the cut off for returns by ONE DAY! The customer service agent basically said “no can do”, sorry, etc. So, I bought an Epiphone TV Yellow Les Paul Special, with a nice discount price, and put the Dean on an internet selling network. It still sits in the carton it came in, and I await some individual to take it off my hands. In actuality, that one day late in trying to get a refund, and told a resounding “No”, was within zZounds right to do so, but it left a “bad taste”in my mouth, to say the least. I won’t buy from them again.
This Dean Select Quilt Top V is the best V I've ever owned. I've owned many by all the other companies. The pickups are the best I've heard through my Marshall ever. The quilt top is amazing. The binding is beautiful and the satin neck is very fast to play on. Frets are level. Probably better than most of the guitars I own. No complaints anywhere. I love this guitar.

Am scratching my head as to why you would want to spend thousands when you can have a quality instrument like this 1965. Would buy again, no regrets. This is my 3rd MK after my Patriot Instinct and CC60. Next, that beautiful MK Patriot 20th Anniversary! This is a stunning guitar and with that 11 MOD, there is no sound you can't pull out of this Guitar, the fit and finish was perfect. I was a little disappointed in the Swamp Ash, I was hoping for a lighter back instead of gloss black. But, am sure the Ash is somewhere??!P-40 Warhawk
This guitar is amazing. The neck plays like butter.what really drew me was the pups. They sound great. It had a few fret buzzes so I had to adjust the truss rod and it solved the problem. I noticed the coil tap knob. When engaged it sounds like the pups are out of phase. I'll have to take it to my Luthier. I had a problem with trem arm. The trem arm that was given to me was the wrong size. I emailed Michael Kelly and they shipped the right one and 3 Allen wrenches as well. I was quite pleased.the fit and finish is quite good.the frets are a little sharp. By the way I got this guitar for $200 off since they marked the price wrong. Kudos for Sam Ash for honoring the price.Luke

I really feel like this is the best bang for your buck. I know that it's built in Korea but man this guitar feels and plays like a US build! The roasted maple neck, radius, fret work, and action are all perfect right out of the box. Another huge plus is the locking tuners and the pickups! These pickups are amazing and will cover any type of music you play. These pickups have similar output levels so you don't get that drastic change in volume when switching positions! 10/10 would recommend for someone who is looking for a premium guitar.Christian
Own a ton of guitars including high-end Fenders and Gibsons. Bought the Reverend on a whim and am really surprised how nice this guitar is. The fit and finish (especially the neck feel) is right up there with most USA more expensive guitars. Not only does the neck feel very finished and smooth but the profile and fretboard and a joy to play… better than my USA Strat! Tones from the guitar and pickups are excellent and manage to be warm and bright at athe same time. Plays like a Strat and has great geometry and high fret access. Tuners are great and comes with roller saddles and string tree. Stays perfectly in tune and is light and resonant. Could be my new favorite guitar. I've been enamored with the look of the Reverend guitars now for a while, and after going back and forth on which model I wanted I decided to pull the trigger on the Flatroc. I took a chance and bought a used one and can't tell you how glad I am that I did. First of all, it's a cool, retro looking instrument. It's made of solid Korina with a beautiful translucent orange finish, and it's much lighter than the current electrics that i own. The guitar has a lot of sustain and a great warm tone. I went with the Flatroc because i already own a Telecaster and a Les Paul and I was looking for something with that mini humbucker bite and rockabilly twang. This guiitar has that sound, but is much more versatile than that. With the tone and the bass roll off knob you can dial any sound from a country twang to a hard rocking Warren Haynes Explorer sound. Or how about some classic British invasion style rock? You can easily achieve that "Won't get fooled again" tone by dialing in some overdrive. Secondly, the guitar feels great! I can't say enough about how good the neck on this thing feels in my hand. It has a beautiful satin polyurethane finish that slides across your palm like butter across a hot pan. The top and back are angled in just the right spots to make playing more comfortable. And did i mention this thing is light? It makes my Les Paul feel like i'm carrying a bowling ball. Third and most important, you're getting a lot of guitar for the price! Sure they're made in Korea but they are made with care and then are tested and set up in good old USA before going out to the customer. This guitar came set up to play for almost any style but a few turns of the thumb screws on the tune-o-matic bridge and I now have the action as low as I could possibly want it with no buzz. So if you're interested in a hard rocking, cool looking, bad ass guitar at a reasonable price, that doesn't look like anything else out there, look no further. And with all the different models with different pickup configurations that Reverend has to offer, you can find the perfect guitar for that sound you're looking for.savagewood_123

I bought this guitar as a beginner's guitar for my kids aged 3 and 5 (probably a bit too early for the youngest, however I couldn't get myself to buy a guitar from the toy store). I had read some mixed reviews about the guitar before my purchase, in particular regarding its ability to stay in tune. After having played it myself for a couple of nights however, I don't really see this as an issue. The lower string tension does mean that you will have to be careful not to play too hard on open chords. You also have to be careful how hard you push your fingers down unto the fretboard. However, these are issues you will find on any 3/4 model. Tuning the guitar a half note higher or using thicker strings can make this less of a problem. However, all in all I am very happy with the puchase and the kids (and myself) just love the looks of the guitar.

Got the newer retro classic with 3 saddle bridge. Is a great value and equal to squier bullets for half the price. The newer indio needed a little work, but so did two squiers i have bought. The indio had rough fret ends and nut was a little tall. Sanded fret ends and sanded the bottom of the nut to reduce the height. Tuners are not smooth turning but stays in tune really well. Will remind again my squier bullets both needed much more work than this indio. Have sold both bullets and kept the indios. The indio plays great and is really slinky. I guess due to top load bridge. Indios are probably the best value out there.Travis
The guitar is surprisingly good considering the very low price. It did have one significant issue though that would make me hesitant to recommend it to a beginning guitar player. I'll start with the good stuff. The basic build of the guitar is very good. The finish is well done. The neck pocket is a good fit. The tuners are good. The nut was cut well. The included gig bag is similar to those I've seen selling in the $30-$50 range so it's a great value too. The electronics and pickups are the typical cheap and generic components that you find on guitars in the sub $200 price range. They aren't terrible though. The bridge design on mine is different than what was pictured. This doesn't matter to me but it does seem to vary. The bad thing on the guitar was the fret edges. I checked the level on the frets using a fret rocker and found them good but the edges were very rough. Since I do guitar tech work as a side gig, this was easy for me to fix but a beginning player might find this to be an issue.New User
This is a fantastic guitar for any beginner or someone who wants to see if a Telecaster is for them or to mod or even just to play. I've got Mexican and American Fenders and have had lower end Squiers. I'd say this guitar is the equal of the Bullet line but costs considerably less. The finish is flawless, electronics are fine, tuners are good and the neck is decent. The biggest problem I have with the guitar is the very small frets (not tall at all) and the sharpness of fret ends. The fretboard is listed as being rosewood but it's more likely what is called "engineered rosewood". It looks good and I like it but could be a little smoother. Buyers should note that Fender parts are not totally interchangeable. For instance, the neck plate is a different size so if you're planning to swap necks be aware. The pickguard holes and shape are not the same as Fender's, nor are the holes drilled appropriately for Fender's tuners. The ferrules fall out the back of the body when changing strings which is ridiculous and if you look in the holes you will notice that they are not drilled straight through the body. It appears the front and back of the body are actually two separate pieces of wood glued together with holes for strings drilled separately and they don't line up properly. That is unbelievably bad but you can still insert the strings so it doesn't negatively impact much. I would definitely buy this again and I'm even contemplating getting another.Steve
