Best Solid Body Jazz Guitar (2024 Update)

Love the guitar. Neck is the highlight. However, the pickups are garbage. Bridge pickup is good but the neck pickup is unusable….muddy. Any combo of split coils is very noisy as well. When I got the guitar the first thing I needed to do was change the strings,the strings where old and and the B and E string where really bad, and I had to adjust the height of the strings,but that is something you need to do with most guitars.Steve

Je suis très content de la guitare. Elle est très confortable, la qualité des micros et les possibilités de réglages sont incroyables. Avantage du headless sans tremolo, la tenue de l'accordage est incroyable. Même en C Standard toutes les notes sont justes à chaque case et l'accordage ne bouge pas de toute la session Les cordes frisent beaucoup mais je vais l'emmener chez un luthier pour la régler. J'ai été déçu par certaines finitions de la guitare. Elle est arrivé avec une griffures et des pocs sur le manche. Les vides au bord des frettes n'ont pas été comblés. le système de blocage des cordes et le potard de tonalité étaient complètement desserré Ma squier standard était fini avec plus de soin. J'en aurai souhaité autant de la part de Ibanez et même plus au vu du prix. Pour autant je suis satisfait car cela fait 1 ans que j'attendais cette guitareDylan

Beautiful guitar with perfect neck set up right out of the box! This guitar was advertised as a used instrument, but it is MINT! Very versatile with great tone from all three pick-ups. Lighter weight than my all-maple Art Core, (Linden wood.) Also arrived two days earlier than expected.tr4081

Very good stainless steel fret nice body not heavy very nice orginal pickups it's cheap but not bad i owned headless i don't have any problems with bridge or setup until now. Thank yououdai jawad

I have one but from a different retailer. MF did not carry this brand when I got mine. These are the real deal or real Gibson product line from the same folks in Kalamazoo who refused to relocate. The quality is fantastic. The tone is genuine. My 535 is my fave semi-hollow humbucker 23.75 inch scal guitar I have. You can tell these guitars are hand made. You're not getting a guitar assembled from the band saw body guy, or the neck blank guy, or from some fellow who just mans a saw / sander for their entier shift. Each guitar is luthier made. The older models even have an ebony pick guard. If thats an option then MF should get that instead of the plastic.David Seattle

An excellent Strat-style that punches well above its weight. For the price of a 'second guitar' or learner Stat you get a very competent piece of kit that will go as far as you want. Nice neck, reasonable frets and quality pickups together with high build quality, it was perfect out of the box, needing no further set-up. The 112v's party piece of a coil-tap on the bridge humbucker though extends its range and versatility immensely it really does give both the full SSS and HSS sound – two excellent guitars for the price of one reasonable one. Downsides? A very slight crackle on the volume pot, and using the coil tap (split) reduces the bridge output, so up the volume a bit if doing it mid-song. I can happily live with both.tim

I really don't have anything bad to say about this guitar. I own mostly all premium guitars and I wanted a floyd rose guitar..I picked this guitar in the shop and was very impressed. I tried a few other guitars but this guitar was just too excellent for the price. I brought it home and did a set up with 10s because that is what I like. The hardware seemed to be of good quality while working with it to set the guitar up. The pickups are pretty good too, I had a set of Bareknuckle Rebel Yells laying around…but I didn't feel the need to swap them at all. The roasted neck also feels good in the hand, it's chunky, it is NOT a wizard type neck, but it is definitely a great neck that I personally like! Overall this is a great buy! Playability, Stability and Tone….I mean that's what we want.Ernie

I tried this out at guitar center riverdale utah and holy smokes it reminded me of the Korean dean dime guitars! I own two of them so I know what I'm talking about. Tone is warm and the midrange is amazing . The floyd rose stays in tune . I did dive bombs and I had 0 problems . The only thing I noticed was the neck kind of clicked when I dived down on the bar but that's not uncommon. That happens when the nut very slightly moves and can be fixed. The action was fluid amazing. The color is neon . A very very good dean guitar .Kade

This guitar surprised me with the playability. The tone was bright and edgy in a good way for high gain. The pickups bring a lot to the table as well. There were two to choose from in the store and both were great. First off I picked up the guitar because the neck and the neck pickup….looked out of alignment…this made me take it off the rack and play it…I played it for 2 hours in store and another 2 at home….Tuning and setup stability was perfect….so I don't know what that is about….but the Guitar plays great and stays great. Don't know if they will all have this though. All in All I can say to give this guitar a try if you are looking for a Floyd Rose guitar. I'm glad I did.Ernie

*It's really a 4.5/5 but I rounded up. I've spent about a month with the Bedford Premier SH. I got the blue w/ white pick guard version on a deep discount from a certain nationwide bricks and mortar retailer. I've noticed a surprising lack of reviews for this instrument so here's my contribution. Feel. It feels superb. I love Fender-y necks (not too fat) and this fits in my hand beautifully. The satin finish is lovely and quick, and the way it tapers seamlessly into the body is unique and top notch imo. The string spacing is great; action came low and neat. The neck is a 14in radius which I thought I wouldn't prefer. I love 9.5 radius, but I honestly have no complaints in this area. I also thought I'd miss the snap of a 25.5 scale but this one is still pretty snappy. I like to "feel" the acoustic resonance (and since I play unplugged around the house this is a great feature). One thing to consider: the three pickups are quite close together so you can end up striking them with your pick. There is a little less room than with a strat. The guitar feels great all around 4.75/5 in this area for me. Sound. There's a wide range of tones here. Before we get to that we need to talk about these Duncan Designed pups. Descriptions of this guitar say that it has two single coils and a mini-humbucker. After playing around with it, I think we're dealing with stacked hum-buckers in neck and middle positions. There is absolutely no 60-cycle hum on these two pups and they both have a nice high output with very sparkly highs. I find myself occasionally rolling off just a little bit of the treble with the tone control. I noticed that there's a noticeable volume drop between the "single coil" mid pup and the bridge mini-humbucker. The mini-humbucker is also noisier (a little hum and buzz that you wouldn't expect from a humbucker). The mini-hum has a pleasantly vintage type tone that's really bright and useful without being piercing. I adjusted the pickup heights to even out some of the volume differences–that helped but didn't totally solve the discrepancy. I'm okay with this. One major bonus for me is that you can get a lovely position 4 strat quack when the neck and middle pups are engaged. Love that sound. You don't get the position 2 quack from the bridge and middle though–just FYI. It's a good tone with plenty of cut and clarity but it's no Cory Wong potion. Also, I found a compressor to be a major tone tool for this guitar for what it's worth. Sound is probably a 4/5 for me.Caleb

First of all, D'Angelico has created an undeniably true modern classic design with this model. The short scale and very thin neck may be the only issue some folks may have. I have two of these, blue and white, and there is a slight difference in neck thickness. My blue one is slightly thinner and not as comfortable as the white one. For an Indonesian made guitar, these have a high quality feel. I've had American made guitars coating way more that had more flaws so it really comes down to QC. Tonally, it's thicker than a thinline tele which I thought might be a close relative so you get great blues out of it.Dave

I love offset guitars for their comfort, les pauls for their scale length, mahogany tone, and strats for their single coils and trems. This guitar covers everything I want. Also, to get one in SH at this price is awesome. Mine was an open box item so the guitar came needing a new set of strings. It was easily playable, but had some tuning stability issues. No problem. New strings on. I set it up to the best of my knowledge. Intonation was just slightly off, but any good youtube video can get you there. The guitar itself was beautiful. The pictures dont do the flake justice. A couple of minor finish flaws, but I'm rough on my toys anyway. It's super light, but still no neck dive. The tuners are very precise as well. The thin satin neck plays very fast and accessing the upper frets is a dream with the cut out neck joints. The fretwork is decent enough for me. Sounds like a strat, plays like a LP. This is simply a beautifully finished and designed guitar that is entirely functional and usable. The Jazz fits to the body naturally allowing for two comfortable sitting positions, as well as a light, well-balanced, and ergonomic feel when using a strap. The Endurneck is extremely comfortably of which I adapted easily and naturally. The Jazz has an excellent pickup configuration with a variety of highly usable tones that provide clarity with the ability to play jazz and blues (with that terrific chambered tone), rock, and even heavier sounds. The gig bag is functional and of high quality, as are the provided tools. I have gotten compliments on my sound thanks to this guitar. This was well worth the purchase and is my favorite guitar!Billy D.

Lightweight and ergonomic with high quality craftsmanship and components. Being disabled, finding a guitar that's comfortable to play for an extended period is wonderful. It's everything I was hoping for in that regard. I was surprised how the low strings resonant into your chest when holding the guitar in your lap. The guitar sings in a way that I never had in any electric. I love the pick ups sound quality and the 5 way switch options. Though the bridge pick up face plate was darkly discolored compared to the neck pick up. Thats just character and had no effect on the sound. Some minor metal flakes on some screws and unfinished edges on the wood f hole very minor and the pick guard could use a light sanding on the top edge. I will probably get the back top edge rounded by a luthier where my right arm rests. I had some tingling in my forearm from playing so much. It does not have the tapered arm rest that all other models have on the top back edge. Just being able to rest the guitar in a an upright (Segovia) lap position and have the neck in perfect position for my left hand allows me to play and reach chords so much more comfortably i can play things i could not before. Its like the chiropractor adjusted you and feel great not understanding exactly why. The odd neck shape is something to experience in a way that expresses solid structure and holding true intonation which allow strings to chime all the way up to 24thf fret. The back edge also provides a sort of ledge anchor that I can rest while playing like no other traditional neck. I don't know I 'm still discovering what I can do with this fine instrument. With all that thought to all the comfort and style and shape not having the tapered back or at least a rounded edge for your right forearm seems to be a choice between the thickness in the veneer and the natural manufactured wood look.Probably can't have both the look and the tapered comfort without a painted model.Alex M.

The previous reviewer must have baby hand because the neck on this guitar is perfect. Not huge at all and a bit thinner than a Warmoth 59 roundback. Otherwise this guitar is super bright but sounds great with the tone rolled back a bit. What a great deal.Guhacc

This is a great guitar – great finish – great quality – and above all, it plays great without any further set up – would like to get the other color. Real pleased with my purchase. I don't think of price when I buy a guitar as they are inflated lately. In saying that, This guitar required a few things to get it playing well. Frets needed to be polished. Strings replaced with diadero 10s XL. Cleaned the nut slots, and finally made a large adjustment to the truss rod, bridge and stop tail. The number 2 position with the bridge pickup in single coil mode, works amazing for me. Impressed totally.StevanC
