Absolutely incredible sounds from this pedal, build quality is brilliant and the different reverb types are endless, only fault that I can say about it was the lack of instructions in the instruction booklet that comes with it ! Pretty much useless as far as how to navigate the preset menu? Fortunately I did find some guidance on YouTube on how to find said presets! But after i found out it’s been an absolute joy to use, I was thinking if it was worth the quite high price tag ? When I recently bought a new amp, it had no reverb. Being that I have always used reverb on past amps I had to start looking for the right reverb pedal. With so many choices out there to choose from, I opted to find the most simple layout and operation, as well as overall good replication of a true reverb. This pedal fit the bill for me. Doesn't take up a lot of real estate on the pedal board as so many others do. And it only has 3 knobs vs many other pedals that seem to have too many. Operation is so simple and easy to tweak in your favorite sound. I love the PAD section for the ambient space sound. The plate and spring settings can be very convincing for a more true sounding reverb. Overall, I think for the money, you can't go wrong with this pedal. Built like a tank, as all MXR pedals are. Its sad to say but I have owned this pedal 3 multiple times now. One thing that kept me wanting to buy this thing was the looks of the pedal and also the awesome MXR videos on Youtube. Its a very nice looking pedal and its also smaller than most of other reverb pedals out there which is a nice for any pedal board. The reverbs all sounds nice besides the spring reverb which just sounds digital to me. I dont know what it is with this pedal but I find that I get bored of it after a few days. The reverbs sound a bit bland and there is nothing too exciting about it. The most interesting effect would be the pad reverb but I find the effect to become annoying after time. Overall I find that this pedal would suit someone looking a subtle reverb with not much character.ausmusic

Overall: This is a great pedal. I wanted a better and more versetile reverb than the spring tank in my amp and this turned out to be a great solution. There's a range of different flavors of reverb, all of which sound authentic and overall great sound quality. The pedal is really easy to use and dial in a good sound. I also really like the tap feature on the tone knob that allows you to cycle through the different reverbs. Makes it really easy to switch sounds "on the fly." Overall very satisfied. I have an amp that doesn't have a reverb channel and was using a multieffects pedal that had a reverb function, but I decided it was time to have a seperate reverb pedal so I could run it alongside the multieffects – kind of to simulate a reverb channel on an amp. I did my research and picked this little guy. I was suprised first off at the weight – for being a die-cast chassis, it wasn't heavy at all. I found my favorite setting in the Hall reverb, simply because I liked the decay it produced, but all of the effects seemed to work very well. the response was accurate from effect to effect when you turn the amount knob. I found at about 9 o'clock you would get a minimal effect that usually is more heard at the tail end; and at 11-12 o'clock it blends with your dry signal so it's very prominent. once I got past 12 o'clock though, the more dynamic picking I'd do the more the effect would push through, so sometimes it would throw my drummer off a little bit since it was almost a slap-back decay. with the amount knob all the way dialed-in, the effect obviously overtakes all of your dry signal; and in the flerb setting you get some awesome sounding ambient sounds. All in all, I wish I could get a little bit more of a dry/wet amount ratio, but this pedal definitely has some cool sounds and can be used in a variety of settings. I think it's the best pedal to replace a reverb channel for an amp and gives you more versatility than that one sound your amp channel would give you.Clifton

Nice nice pedal, feels fairly tough, the difference between the spring and hall I thought was quite noticeable. It take me a while to get a setting I liked however I imagine it will depend on your amp and guitar plus we all like different tones. Picked one a few weeks ago because I switched to a tube head without reverb. Orange TH30 which is also awesome but felt the need to add some verb at times. I choose this pedal for 3 reasons, compact, simple operation and $. Good decision I believe. Had no problem daisy chaining to other pedals using my Snark 9V set up and love the spring setting. As others have said, the "Flirb" is virtually impossible to use for any practice purpose and Frank Zappa may be the one person who could have utilized it. Still a good pedal.Latty

I actually sold my original Holy Grail and ended up buying the Holy Grail Neo because of the plate reverb – it's just so lush! I had looked at so many other reverbs (not wanting to repeat myself) but as a gigging musician who loves to tweak their sound mid-set, there is nothing better in this price range. I have to say I also tried the Oceans 11 pedal and was not impressed by the physical quality of the pedal. Also, the text on the pedal was barely readable because it is so small – maybe the Oceans 11is more suited to a home studio or someone who is still looking for their sound…Garry

Pedal has a small foot print which is good for saving pedal board space. one knob for the amount of reverb and a 3 way toggle switch (Spring, Hall and plate). Reverb range is really good and all 3 sounds are really usable. I use spring and plate for blues / classic rock and the hall for deep ambient sounds, when combined with other effects. overall very happy with this pedal, spent ages researching before splashing out the cash for this, but genuinely for me i'm happy with the return for the price on this unit. it;s one of those pedals that offers you insparation when you play due to the wide tonal range it has. overall very happy with purchase.Derek A.

Let me confess right up front, I'm a reverb lover. Some love it, some don't. I especially like a good reverb pedal when I play outdoors to add some of that room sound that I'm missing. This pedal is so direct and to the point. Three reverbs to choose from, all quite usable I might add, and the Reverb knob which controls the wet/dry mix. I don't have the time or patience to experiment all day long to get the right sound. I work full-time and gig on weekends. I need something like this Holy Grail Neo that is simple but effective. An added bonus is that it kind of matches my EHX Neo Clone. Right now I'm in love with the plate reverb but that could change next week. You can't go wrong with this pedal.Larry

Keeley makes two of the very best reverb and echo units. One is the Memphis Sun for the low fidelity tile room Sun Records '50s rockabilly sound. This is also excellent and high fidelity. I like the simplicity of Keeley pedals to get that classic reverb and slap back sound I love. I grew up adoring my father's Echoplex EP3 in the '70s. This pedal is so much fun. Well named as the combo of effects makes any small practice amp sound like you're in a tremendous cavern. I'm just getting started with my pedal collection, so my expertise is minimal, but this pedals was really easy to get the hang of. With the amount of Delay/Reverb pedals being released this pedal is breath taking! The 3 reverbs on-board are inspiring to say the least. Most reviews say this isnt a "just for a spring reverb" pedal however the spring setting on it is my favorite. Love the built in trem. The Shimmer is awesome but the shimmer setting has to be pretty high up for them to become noticeable. The Modulation setting is also very nice though I dont go to it frequently. The delay side is amazing as well. The modulation goes from subtle to extreme. This is a steal at 179.99 and its worth every penny!NRKB

This pedal is incredible!! Definitely exceeds my expectations. I have had this pedal almost a month and am still having fun discovering all the different ways it can manipulate the guitar signal! I've been searching for the right reverb pedal for months now. I was using an audio interface and Ableton and a MIDI pedalboard to control reverb before and I wanted something more compact that wouldn't require me to pull out my laptop every time I want to play. After all this time I came to the determination that I needed a Strymon Big Sky, however the close to $500 price tag kept me looking at other pedals for the time being until I could save up for this. In steps this amazing pedal. I've been a fan of Electro-Harmonix for a while now, having their Canyon, Freeze, and Superego pedal, I have found them to be superb in every way. I had tried the slightly lower cost Holy Grail a while ago, and even though it sounded great, the lack of choice made it a little lackluster. I was pretty certain I should go with the Hall of Fame by TC Electronic, and was actually in the store to purchase that, when I saw the Oceans 11, and thought "I need to try that." The design of it was gorgeous. Strong metal build, with an amazing ocean-esqe image on it. I pull it out, plug it into the test rig they have set up, and immediately was blown away. The sound is as close to a Big Sky as I have seen from any other pedal. With 11 different styles of reverb, including a mix of delay and reverb in some cases, this pedal is just as versatile in my opinion. The reverse reverb is stellar, while the shimmer and poly effect give this big beautiful heavenly sound. On top of having your standard Hall/Plate/Spring settings. This thing really crosses from basic reverb to a shoegaze dream. This is THE BEST reverb pedal at this price point. Needed a reverb pedal as my recent amp purchase, Marshall Origin 20H does not have onboard reverb. Decent sound from subtle to cavernous. AN expression function on the switch adds more versatility. As a professional recording engineer I've been familiar with TC Electronic for decades. I've used TC Electronic gear for a long time in the studio and have always found it to be the best of the best. However, as a hobbyist guitar player I was not as familiar with TC pedals as I was with pedals by other manufacturers (MXR, Dunlop, Boss, Ibanez, etc…). I've been looking for a good reverb pedal to run in my FX loop because the reverb built into the amp is pre FX Send and since I play with tons of gain I have a gate (TC Sentry – also amazing) in the FX loop and the gate was cutting off the reverb tails. I considered a variety of Reverb pedals but ultimately decided on the TC Hall of Fame 2 for several reasons. First, TC knows reverb, their System 6000 reverb is 13,000 without the remote, 15,000 with the remote. And they are using algorithms from the System 6000 in the Hall of Fame 2 – pretty cool. Overall: Whether you're trying to dial in a wet surf rock reverb or an ambient shoegaze tone with lots of atmosphere, this pedal can do it all. This is hands down the best pedal I've ever purchased and far surpasses any other reverb pedal I've heard. You can even tweaked it to make it sound like a proper spring reverb unit on an old fender amp. There's also a handy shimmer effect you can use to get some angelic and synth-like tones, which can sound monolithic accompanied with a fuzz. I use a few different brands of pedals and Boss makes solid pedals. This rv6 pedal makes a great variety of reverbs that sound very good with cleans, on every setting. I play with a few different distortions. It is very difficult to dial in a good reverb sound with too much distortion. The level setting has to be low and the sensitivity of the effects are boosted and that makes it very hard to easily swap from clean to dirty without major changes. Dirty will require serious tweaking. I would give it a 3 star because it's not friendly to dirty, but I'll give it 4 stars just because the cleans really do sound great and the variety and quality of sounds are in a price range well below many other reverbs of this caliber. It's a BOSS, a tank. I did mess with the shimmer with crunch and low level and found some decent sounds.Ghostpuncher

I got this as a catch-all reverb to round out a basic pedal board I use for home practice and hobby recording. First off, all the "usual suspect" reverb tones sound really great in the effects loop of my Bogner Atma combo. I had read reviews of the RV6 where it had been criticized for sounding digital/grainy, but I preferred it over the Oceans and HOF2 I compared it to. I classify myself as a somewhat fussy "toan snob" who still prefers tubes and analog, so I wonder if maybe that "digital/grainy" complaint was with it going straight in, out in front of the preamp. I'll have to get around to trying it like an outboard spring verb sometime. I really dig the shimmer verb, especially with a flanged, overdriven lead tone. I need to get an expression pedal now and play around with oscillating that! Last thing I want to compliment is the helpful buffer the Boss adds at the tail end of my board. For a quarter the price of most reverb pedals this is incredible value. It has a comprehensive range of reverb types with full adjustment for each. Each sounds great and so far I have fpund nothing I disliked. The pedal is quiet, no unwanted hum or clicks and the bypass apears to be full bypass. Some may say that the plastic case is a put off but all the plastic cased pedals i have ever had have stood up well to normal use. I think that this would be the same.Colin H.

I just got this pedal at Christmas. I get very frustrated with overly complicated gadgets. I like pedals and amps that have as few knobs as possible. So I was looking for a reverb pedal and when I saw this one with only one knob, I bought it on a whim. It's a good one. Up until 12:00 it's very nuanced. From 10:00 upward, you can get everything from country twang reverbs to Stones honky tonk honk to Hendrix. Turned all the way up, the reverb is literally boing-ing off the walls. Playing, recording, practicing, etc. This is high quality equipment, can definitely keep up with the best out there. Have a friend that has Strymon Big Sky, and he is going to get one of these, and an MS -3 also. Bottom line, you should check this thing out, of coarse I tweeked the presets right away, was able to pick a few and make them much better, just with the outboard controls. No problem getting good sound right out of the box, I always reduce the effect, and use my spices sparingly, most of the time anyway. Its not hard to go deeper into the controls though. Love running this thing in stereo, it can do Ambient off the hook, pretty much anything you need, it can handle. I have a lot of Wampler pedals, Pinnacle 2 Deluxe, Sovereign, Triple Wreck, Dracarys high gain distortion. All great pedals. TC electronics pedals, etc. Like to use the Hall of Fame 2 with it, and Flashback Delay. Very happy with purchase, of coarse built like a tank. Will likely outlive me, ha – – –Mr Tips

Well, the Strymon Flint unit is completely top notch… Super Reverb and tremolo effects, nice layout easy to use, totally quiet, built like a tank. The best part of the deal was Sam Ash customer service… I needed the Flint rather quickly, for a gig. I have some tweed amp clones (5E3, 5E7, 5F11) and wanted to see how they sounded with reverb and tremolo. I have a friend who allowed me to borrow his stand alone tube driven reverb/ trem unit made by a well known and respected boutique builder (street price 1500 to 1800 USD). I bought this pedal locally to compare against that unit. (300USD). THIS PEDAL SOUNDED JUST AS GOOD WITH ALMOST NO NOISE. I returned the stand alone unit. I won't be returning this pedal. Sounds very good on all the "period" settings, built like a tank, super quiet operation. If you're looking for a good pedal for recreating a lot of old school sounds, as well as more modern ones, look no further. This is the one you want.LUCIAN

I bought this to compliment a non-tremolo/reverb head and it works great through the effects loop. I also like this with my 64 custom deluxe reverb. Gives me more control and versatility than the on board Tremolo and reverb and much easier to dial the Flint in for a range of sounds. Absolutely nails those classic tones. I found the color and mix functions really add something special. Better than any built in reverb I’ve had. Light years ahead of any reverb or tremolo pedal I’ve had. This a great pedal. I was using a digitech hardwire reverb before this. I like this one much better. The reverse setting is actually usable unlike the hardwire. Also this pedal has a blend knob which is great for 100% wet settings to dial in some post rock sounds. Plate setting is just as good or better than other pedals I have used. The blend & time knobs work very well & give a wide range of reverbs to dial in. Every setting on this pedal is usable. Its a keepertcaldn

Overall: Wow ! I have had a lot of other reverb pedals but none that take it to this level and 1/2 the price point. The special and hall settings together with the level, time and delay settings enable you to sculpt sounds and effects that it would take several pedals to accomplish. No on board amp reverbs system, spring or digital can hold a candle to this unit, Fender really needs to hang on to this designer and his team for a long time, I think he understands things about sound that no one else has ever thought of, great job and thanks zZounds for making things happen like only you guys can. I am really impressed with all of the Fender pedals in this range. They all look great, are well made and sound really good too. The Marine Layer is the top of the pile for me. It can give any digital reverb in any price range (trust me, I have _all_ of them), in terms a quality of tone. When you need a mono reverb, this should be your first place to go. This pedal also features the first _room reverb_ that I have liked. Very smooth and unassuming. It also has a shimmer verb, but this is tastefully played down and isn't as nauseating as other shimmers. It's really useable. The hall 'verbs are amongst the best I have. Thumbs up from me.rohan43

Awesome Reverb pedal for everything from light reverb to full ambient lushness. Im not a shoegaze guy, but if I was this pedal would be my go to. Does a similar sound to the Strymon, with a pad type sound similar to an organ underneath what you play.Works well with high gain leads if the level is set low. The L.E.D light is ridiculously bright though, so dont stare directly into the light haha. Id buy it again if it were ever lost/stolen/broken.calirarities

I use the Carbon Copy on a 4 pedal board – TU-2 CS-2. TS-9 M169 it's a great set-up, quiet and compact with awesome sound quality. The M169 gives great slap back echo's and awesome smooth ghost like repeats.Craig

As a bass player, I haven'tused any pedals before, but I wanted to add a bit of depth to my sound. I have been practicing through a Mackie mixer that has digital delay and it sounds pretty good. BUT, this analog pedal kicks it up a notch and sounds great. The delay sounds more natural and less harsh than the sound of the mixer. Starting with all the controls at their center, the effects sounded so impressive and I felt that my bass sound had new life. The bypass switch is clean and quiet and it does not color my original bass sound when in bypass. I love the wonderful analogue delay sound on this pedal. The controls are intuitive and responsive. It is extremely simple. Regardless of what setting you use your notes seem to stand out up front loud and clear while the magic of the delay unfolds behind your playing. And the mod feature is the icing on the cake. I'm a metal guy at heart, so when I finally put the Metal Zone away and started building a grownup pedal board, a Tube Screamer was high on my list. I was particularly interested in this unit because of the size, since my beginner board probably isn't going to be very big. I plugged this little guy into my regular setup and was immediately blown away. If you've played some metal you know the setup: straight into a high gain amp, drive at 0, level at 10, and tone dialed in to taste. It made my Orange Micro Dark Terror, digital Bias FX rig, and even my sad old Marshall solid state roar, but in a much more defined way that never felt flabby or uncontrollable. I would recommend pairing it with a decent noise gate to trim down the hum, but that's just what electric guitars do when you crank the gain, and not a flaw of this pedal in particular. Okay, sure, it can do metal. I've also run this unit through a bunch of other setups and contexts. Through my Orange I definitely got very usable blues and classic rock tones by pulling the gain and volume back on the amp, and setting everything on the pedal around half way. I can even see potentially using it with the drive all the way up as a lead boost or to slightly break up a clean tone. This little thing is a beast for sure, and is pretty much perfect for my uses. It's not a transform your amp kind of effect, it's meant to compliment what your existing equipment already does. It has some specific things it does well, and it *really* nails them. #sweepstakesDan

Stop what you're doing right now. RIGHT NOW, and get this pedal. This tiny little monster sounds incredible and I am kicking myself for not trying any kind of Tube Screamer for my 20+ years of playing guitar. This literally sounds like a tube amp in a box. You can dial in the perfect amount of boost or drive without really impacting your guitar's true tone. If you push it all the way, it's almost in distortion territory, yet it retains warmth and picking dynamics…on the other hand it compresses nicely – like a tube amp. How does it do that? It's magic. I got this mini version because I'm building a mini pedal board, so it fits perfectly. Don't let the size fool you though, because it sounds incredible. The only drawback is that it needs an external power supply. Oh, and as an added bonus, this is made in Japan, and it shows. The switches, knobs, and inputs feel very high-quality. In my opinion, this is incredible bargain.Jamers

I collect Tube Screamers, and decided to get this for the collection. Soundwise, it works as a TS808; great transparent overdrive for stand-alone use but excels at boosting gain on an overdriven amp. Not as harsh or "dark" as a TS9, and a decent price. Definitely a TS to consider if you're trying to save some money; you definitely won't be missing out on the sound of the TS808. Also great if you want to add a Tube Screamer to a board, but need to save space. The only negative I can say is the Level and Tone knobs are difficult to see for settings, but that's true with most mini pedals. It doesn't take a battery, but there again, neither do most mini pedals. Construction is more solid than the Mooer Green Mile, and the TSMini is made in Japan (thought for sure it was Chinese). The price is great on these, but I'd also consider checking out the East River Overdrive by EHX; my current favorite Tube Screamer clone. As far as the Ibanez Tube Screamer line-up, this is seemingly the best value.Dave

I should start by telling you all that i play modern metal, not classic rock or anything close. I bought this pedal a few years back hoping to squash out the hiss in my amp due to my use of an overdrive in front of the amp.I used it in front of my amp with a ts9 in its little effects loop. it was very difficult to get the start-stop quick djent style stuff i wanted without a feedback remnant always cutting in. also, there was a noticable amount of cut on any palm-muted notes and really any note played would not sustain naturally. any setting on the decay would not help. but, i had to have the threshold up pretty high to knock out the hiss. you must also know that i am using a horrific amount of gain with a 6505+. I have the post gain maxed out and most other things maxed out as well.After much research and saving, i invested in the isp decimater g-string. this product was on a whole other level. the things that the ns-2 lacked this thing just has. It senses when you are playing, instead of opening a gate when you play loud enough. Even with my extreme gain settings, overdrive in front, booster in the effects loop, and volume all the way up on my guitar, i can start-stop all day long just like periphery and animals as leaders. plus, my palm muted notes fade naturally as do normally fretted notes. Another thing i have recently learned is that the ns-2 manufacturing process uses lead free solder, whereas the ns-1 has lead based solder. This resulted in a big difference in signal integrity, and is very evident if you leave the pedal on bypass and play something, then removeit from the chain, and play something. it darkens the tone alot. In conclusion, if you want play the new styles of metal with all the gain and start-stop, buy the isp decimater g-string or pro rack g.MTloveit

This is a must have if you have a multitude of effects esp. overdrives, distortions at high gains and volume. Any nuance of movement on a string and the cats are climbing the curtains and your pissing off your neighbors 🙂 BUT! with this suppressor your sloppy metal play is crisp and tight full of clarity and your sound is cleaned up. It's a huge compliment to any pedal board. If your tired of excessive hum, buzzing or just white noise especially when using multiple pedals on a pedal board this is the solution. I mated mine with a BOSS LS-2 Line Selector pedal at the start of my pedal chain so every pedal is covered by it. It allows instant quiet after quick aggressive picking starts and stops while using heavy distortion. It's a "Fire and Forget" pedal for the most part if your running the same gear regularly. It's a must have if you want clarity and certainly worth the space it takes up on your board. It's the magic behind the curtain.kt.precisio-7

I can get this pedal to do three things: a very subtle reverb that adds a touch of space, a room-like reverb, and a super long-tailed ambient reverb that's so expansive it almost sounds like it's mixed with delay. There are other reverb pedals for a bit more money that have more options built into them-spring, plate, hall, room, shimmer, modulated reverb, and so on. With this pedal I find it difficult to switch between the different sounds since it's a lot of knob fiddling. It does sound absolutely killer, which is why I gave it 4 stars, but I don't recommend it if you want to easily switch between different types of reverb. For me it will be more of a "set and forget" pedal for long ambient reverbs.Andrew

Now I'm rearranging things to have one board just for my electric guitars and all I needed was a basic chorus pedal of quality build and tone. I knew from reviews the JHS 3 series was perfect for me. I've been playing for 57 years and have owned pedals in the $100 to $500 range to provide my chorus effects. No matter if I had mulitple options in some stomp boxes I usually settled on a good subtle setting, so I knew there was no need for me to get anything fancier than the JHS. It sounds are good as the little blue Boss Chorus I bought way back in 1980.Jon
