Reviews:
I use the coated EXP45 normal tension strings on my Guild GAD-C2NA classical guitar. This is the guitar I travel with and use for most fingerstyle applications. I reserve my Ramirez E4 for local classical performances. The bottom 3 strings have great definition and stay within a few cents of concert pitch for several months. The top 3 strings are the same nylons from the EJ45 set. They may drop 20 cents overnight, but tune right up and stay in tune while playing. This set has a respectable classical tone but is a little brighter than the EJ45 Pro Arte set. They are fantastic if you are playing and singing popular and rock songs along with a few classical favorites. You can beat on them with rougher technique and they hold up and sing out. The EXP45 set only puts about 81 lbs. on the neck as compared to 86 lbs. for the EJ45 set. The lighter feel makes them very versatile and reduces your fatigue. The D'Addario claim is true: The composite core bottoms really do last 3-4 times longer. With a lot of practicing and performing, I can burn through an EJ45 set in 1-2 weeks. I've changed EXP45 sets at 2 months for a gig and have not really needed to. The windings will show some wear, but the bottoms are still staying in tune. The coating pays off if you don't always remember to wipe down the strings and fingerboard after playing. There are some who call me...Jim
I recently purchased a used classical guitar and gave it a set up, replaced the strings. That's when I purchased these EJ45's….Took almost a month for the strings to stop stretching. Would not stay in tune !! Maybe drop these in some boiling water like E.V. used to do to his strings to stretch them out..?? THE BAD….I thought it was the tuners (machine heads) on the guitar and almost purchased a new set. I've used the red package normal tension with no issues, I will not buy the EJ45 again. While my guitar was just sitting on the stand the G string starting to unravel and eventural just broke…THESE STRINGS ARE A WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME !GhostGrappler
I am accustomed to subtle differences between acoustic guitar strings by various manufacturers, but those differences can seem less apparent with classical guitar strings. However, D'Addario's Pro Arte classical strings are clear standouts. My guitar never sounded better, to the point of sounding like a brighter and more resonant instrument. I'm hooked.Ronnie

Reviews:
these strings have been chosen to fit perfectly on my handmade Antonio Sanchez crafted in 1995. It's just a splendid experience to have these resonating through both our bodies. Sparkling, bright sound and joyfull to feel. This was the aim to have these ordered and delivered. The perfect couple, strings attached.
A personal choice, but I like D'addario strings in general and always them on my steel acoustic and electric guitars. Just acquired a Spanish classical guitar (new experience for me!) so I started experimenting with strings. I like these a lot as they have a much more familiar feel – I started with medium EJ27 strings which were a bit "loose" for me? – and a nicer tone. My teacher approves too…man_at_gwizz-it

Reviews:
I'm not a serious Classical player but do read music and try classical tunes on my 45 + year old solid cedar top classical guitar. I think this brand of strings is fine. I'm going to go back to medium or higher tension though. Light tension takes too much tuning effort, and they're a bit flabby to my fingers. I don't think for nylon strings that the arguments regarding age and arthritis means much. I'm in my 60s, but can still bend those steel strings just fine thank you.JC
I have been using D'Addario EJ-45 (Normal Tension) strings for a couple of years and decided I'd give these 43's a try. Contrary to what other reviewers have indicated, I immediately noted a decrease in volume when using these light tension strings. I suppose if one is playing with electronic amplification, these strings might be fine. I play spruce solid-top guitars (J. Marcario 145 and Yamaha GC-7M) so crispness, as well as volume, are crucial to me. Unfortunately, these 43's have neither the volume nor the clarity of the 45's. They are a touch easier to play and they may suit the needs of others; however, they aren't right for me. I'll be switching back to 45's tomorrow. Best regards … and happy playing !yelleko
Much better type of string than the ball end type. Also, these have a smoothe feel and give a nice full sound to my Yamaha NCX 900R classical guitar. The strings are forgiving on the fingers as I get back into playing after years of abcense from it. Also not noisy from sliding sounds. Tying the ends on and changing nylon is very different for me, accustomed to an Ovation, takes a little longer but is worth the difference for an improved sound. For me nylon strings are better because of losing 1/2" off left ring finger, classical easier to do. Good choice, buy them.cehl1911

I got these. Shipped just fine, strung up my guitar. It is just fine. These classic guitar strings are required for my classic guitar. However, I was glad the person who helped me, had me start with a classic guitar. As the Nylon strings help you callous your fingers, getting you ready for steel strings without shredding your fingertips 😉Randomcustomer
I use these on my Ibanez GA6CE-AM-2Y-01 Classical/Electric. If you like the traditional nylon (aka: cat gut) then these are your strings. They're really comfortable on the fingers, resonate well, bend easily and have that warm tone yet deliver the treble side, as well. Installation is a little challenging with the slotted head stock (nature of the beast) but tying them to the bridge is much easier (see attached pic). Definitely recommended! Just remember to let them stretch good and they will stay in tune.John564Holloway
5. Savarez 520r Classical Guitar Strings – High Tension
Product Details:
Savarez traditional trebles are made of rectified nylon which is characterised by a distinctive unpolished finish. this grittiness contributes to a lessening of the high overtones. because of their texture, the treble strings are unusually controllable with regard to vibrato and stability. the characteristics of their tone make their pitch particularly clear and true. the basses are on the warm and soft side, and their tone is strong overall. made in france, the name savarez brings to mind the famous 520 set with red, yellow and white cards, the set which made the savarez name, a bestseller for generations. when they came out, they allowed musicians for the first time to choose between three tensions: red 520r (normal tension) – yellow 520j (high tension) – white 520b (low tension).

Reviews:
Very light tension and very responsive. Now I can barre with my index finger with little of effort. Strings 4, 5, 6 sound great. Strings 1, 2, 3 sound just OK, and they produce slight rustling sound when my fingers move between the frets. They also make rustling sound when I pick them using my bare fingers (no nails). With a regular pick they sound better but still not as clear and sweet as my previous set.SAP
I have used others that I will not name, but this type of string (Savarez 520 R) fits very well with my playing style (Classical). They move and respond harmoniously together! Bright and clean! No muffled sounds! Each string vibrates in a wide sweet spot! Easy to tune, easy to play. I have them on my Alvarez Classical Guitar. I use the Savarez 520 J on my La Patrie Concert Classical guitar. These guitar strings make the difference!Jeff

After an extensive search online, I found these Savarez strings recommend by many forum users and they are fantastic for my classical guitar! A bright and rounded tone that projects really well from my guitar. The wood is a little softer sounding in this classical, and these strings does it great justice. I highly recommend them. Keep note, they are high tension strings, and you will need a well built guitar to hold them up, or at least one that you know is strong enough at the bridge and pegs to ensure no damage occurs on your guitar. I'm sure the strings with less tension will be suitable if that is the case (this is a topic that came up during my search)Mike
These strings are perfect for good nylon guitars with low string action. Sometimes I try some other Savarez models (high tension) but I always come back to 520J – and I've been using them for 12 years, maybe more. Sounds really good and takes longer if compared with others good nylon string brands. However, if you want a slightly softer touch (520J treble strings have a semipolished feel), give a try for Savarez S540J High Tension Classic Guitar Strings.Victor

All good Thank you!!!!gin-archi
These are high quality strings with no mechanical problems. They stay in tune, feel good under the hand, and intonate properly. They also seem quite durable – I have been playing my set regularly for a month and they show virtually no wear. On the other hand, the treble strings have an extremely glassy, metallic sound that can become shrill and artificial sounding. They are not suited to my cedar-top guitar at all, and I cannot imagine that many classical guitarists would find their tone attractive. These might be more appropriate for another musical style. The bass strings sound fine.CycleDudeNh

As soon as I receive another set of Fender nylon strings I can give a better review since the ones I received were defective, The string dimensions were screwed up. The fifth string was a nylon string as well as the third and first. The sixth, fourth and second strings were a wound strings.

First, am not a musician, just an old Scouter who plays guitar at troops campfires, and encourages Scouts to learn some chords with the expectation that within lies the next Andres Segovia. Therefore, my judgement of the quality of the product is that of a neophyte. For me, they were better than I expected. I find all Augustine strings to be great value for high quality. These are my 'go to' strings that I use every day. I have not found better working strings. Much better than some of the rather twangy 'corum' strings that seem to be so popular (and expensive) these days. Recommended.Richard
I am not a classical guitarist, I am an acoustic/electric guitarist who has modified what I do to fit a classical format. When it comes to strings, I have always opted for the biggies, usually D'Addario extra hard tension (and the titanium treble set is my go-to). I believed in the SRV adage: Bigger strings give bigger tone. I picked up a set of these Augustines the last time they were on sale at MF. I confess I got 'em because they had Segovia on the package and were on sale. My heart sank when the strings arrived, they are the black label set and are marked "extra light tension." I teach in a public school and thought I'd put these strings on and beat them to death in a matter of days. That was over a month ago, and my mid 70s Yamaha (solid cedar/rosewood) has never sounded better. I don't know what it is about these strings (components, care of manufacture), but they seem to really lay flat on the board, and I mean that in a good way. I have already admitted that my classical technique really blows, but when I try to bear down on the lower strings, the heavier wound strings almost seem to "roll" under my stupid sausage fingers. Not so these guys. Very pleasant sound and feel, I may have switched brands to Augustine Blacks. And did I mention Segovia's picture is on the label?…E. T.

Reviews:
First, am not a musician, just an old Scouter who plays guitar at troops campfires, and encourages Scouts to learn some chords with the expectation that within lies the next Andres Segovia. Therefore, my judgement of the quality of the product is that of a neophyte. For me, they were better than I expected. However, I must add that I received them in less than five days, now thats service worth two extra stars. Thus, from that perspective, this string set has far exceeded my expectations.

Once again, the great grandson future rock star that made off with my guitar informed me that he was reluctant to play because he was afraid he might break the strings. Well that won't do. These were the right solution to insure perpetual strumming. Sturdy, easy to work with – even for an 11 year old, and at a great price. Well constructed. Once he had his back up supply he was ready to get back to the serious business of becoming a rock star. No child should ever be without a spare set of strings!!!

As soon as I receive another set of Fender nylon strings I can give a better review since the ones I received were defective, The string dimensions were screwed up. The fifth string was a nylon string as well as the third and first. The sixth, fourth and second strings were a wound strings.

Reviews:
I highly recommend these strings for darker sounding acoustics. I installed them on my new Epiphone DR-100, and they sound amazing. Much better than the factory strings, in my opinion. I normally like phosphor bronze acoustic strings, but I've found that the DR-100's sound better with the brighter 80/20 bronze strings. Full disclosure, I'm a big fan of Ernie Ball strings in general. I use exclusively the RPS Hybrid 9-46 strings on my electrics. Also highly recommended. Great price on the 3 packs of these. I also really like the 11-52 gauge, vs 12-54. Both sound great, but the slightly lighter gauge works best for me, since I play electric much more often than acoustic. Enjoy!!waterboy411
I've been playing guitar since 1969, and have used countless brands and varieties of acoustic guitar strings. My first go around with Earthwood strings was less than impressive, as I had the ball end fall off of the high E as I was removing it from the package. This put me off Earthwoods for a while, but when I came across an inexpensive project guitar a while back the only acoustic strings available to me at the time were Earthwoods. I bought that set out of necessity and strung the guitar up. I love the gauge of this set since it's only slightly heavier than the sets I've been using on my electrics for years and very comfortable to play, while not sacrificing much in the bottom end of the tone. I was thoroughly impressed with these strings to the point that they're now my go to acoustic strings. Naturally every guitar is going to sound slightly different and every player will have different taste in the way a set feels and sounds to them, but these are my favorite right now. Definitely worth a try if you've never tried them and are looking to replace a set.papastratomaster
I tried these on a recommendation from a friend. I used to use Martin Strings with Medium/12 Gauge. I switched to these because it was a little hard on my hands to get through a full gig. I liked the tone on the Martins a little better but these come in at a close second in my opinion but gives me the options of doing easier bends and double stops. I tried the "one" set before ordering the "three". Recommend doing the same. Great value for the $.hammer_101
