1. Lehle Mono Volume Pedal – Active
Product Details:
The lehle mono volume is a volume pedal equipped with a precise magnetic sensor enabling it to operate almost wear-free. this sensor uses the hall effect, named after edwin hall, to measure the strength of magnetic fields. in the lehle mono volume the hall sensor, which is made in germany, is accurately calibrated to the built-in magnet and the control range of the pedal. the pedal moves only the magnet, the distance is measured by the hall sensor which controls a vca. a premium blackmer vca (= voltage controlled amplifier) from the united states replaces here in this case the mechanical potentiometer. the principle of the voltage-controlled amplifier is based on the fact that gain can be varied by the control voltage coming from the hall sensor. this technique allows to operate more precisely than conventional mechanical potentiometers or optical sensors used by the standard volume pedals. in addition the potentiometer-typical noise and the complicated adjustment are eliminated. over the entire control range the lehle mono volume transmits the full sound spectrum of the connected instrument. the input and output impedance always stay the same, ensuring that there will be no damping of higher frequencies as with potentiometers. internally, the input voltage coming from the power supply socket of the pedal is rectified, then filtered, stabilized and doubled to 18v, thus achieving a total dynamic range of 110 db. the volume control of the lehle mono volume ranges from -92 db to 0 db – so from a virtually muted level to the same volume. with a potentiometer a gain up to +10 db boost can be additionally adjusted. the lehle mono volume runs mechanically extremely smooth and steady, as it is equipped with low-friction bearings of a high-performance polymer, and there is no mechanical transmission of the pedal to other components. by means of an adjusting screw the mobility of the pedal can be modified very precisely.

Reviews:
This pedal ought to be one of the best you can get, and for many I'm sure it is. As for me, I've owned and used several different ones over the years. This one importantly has adequate, even and smooth travel. Excellent sound, and the active gain is killer if you want to use it. No complaints. For comparison, I bought a Mission Pro volume pedal, which sounded fabulous but I was disappointed with a very short travel and a really dumb TRS out jack for the dual outputs. No such problems with this Lehle. On the other hand, I was slightly put off by how huge and heavy this thing is, not a total show stopper, but wow, in a current market of lighter and smaller, I think Lehle overdid it on build. Some players may love it though. But what REALLY bugs me for such an expensive, well-engineered pedal, is the clunky, resonant, mechanical noise the rocker makes when you hit heel and toe with this tank! I'm really surprised and disappointed that no thought was given to such an annoying aspect of this otherwise killer pedal. I play a lot of pit orchestra musicals and shows where quiet is king, and noisy switches and other mechanical noise from pedals during dead air or soft passages is a big hassle. Kind of defeats the purpose of the magnet controlled VCA and polymer bearings used for quiet precision control in this thing. So, not to be a total party-pooper, it can be dealt with by using it in a steady, controlled manner, but I wish there was some way to dampen the stop plates on this thing. Consider these observations or try one in person before blowing the big bucks on this monolithic device.gtrfool101
2. Dunlop Volume (X) Pedal Dvp3
Product Details:
This is the dunlop volume x pedali added space grip tape for aesthetics and functionality. i also substituted the original soft pads underneath the heel section for rubber pads to prevent metal contact (volume still reaches 0 when heel is down, so no worries on that). the velcro is glued on and there is a small piece from the bottom plate cracked off. despite that, it is still a great functional pedal with adjustable resistance.

Reviews:
So, one of the "features" of this pedal ended up being its Achilles heel. Out of the box the rocker pedal was extremely floppy. I *very slightly* tightened the adjustment screw to increase pedal tension just a little, just like the instructions say. Turns out this was a bad idea because after literally 20 or so sweeps, the low-friction band broke and the pedal got stuck in the no-volume position. (The grub screw protruding from the rocker arm jammed against the base.) No abuse or excessive force, just regular volume swells and it busted. Hard to believe how easily this could happen with gentle use. I would NOT trust this pedal in gigging situations, even set at factory tension. Very happy now with the Ernie Ball VP JR, which costs less, BTW.TJPenitencia
In need of a new Volume Pedal I had purchased Dunlop's DVP-1 about 1 year ago, but while I loved the top-knotch build quality, adjustable tension, Steel-Band Drive (compared to other Volume Pedal usage of STRING and other non-hardened material) and Aluminium Casing… it's overall size (and to a lesser degree, weight) was too large for my Pedalboard no matter how I shifted effects around to try and make room for it. And so it sat in its box while I continued to use my old-school Dunlop GCB-80 Volume Pedal that over the gigging years had done well but was showing its age… Until I received notice that Dunlop had released the DVP3(X), a new, smaller footprint & lighter weight version of the DVP-1 while adding the ability to function as an Expression Pedal for so-equipped Effects and gear. Trying one out it person, it had the same Steel-Band Drive and heavy duty casing, Adjustable Tension and overall "feel" underfoot that had drawn me to its "Bigger Brother". As I hadn't used my original DVP-1 for even practices Musician's Friend was kind enough to take it as a return/exchange for the DVP3(X), which made the "upgrade" to the DVP3 an extremely minimal amount. The only "negative" issue I could find is that the DVP3 comes in an all-black finish, while the DVP-1 has a "Natural Aluminium Silver" – it would be nice to offer either pedal in both colors. But that's an extremely minor issue. I imagine it will be a long time until I need to upgrade my Volume Pedal again, but I *am* considering another DVP3(X) set up in its "Expression Pedal" mode to use with my SWR Mini Mo' Preamp for manual control of the Filter Sweep setting on its Envelope Filter. A fantastic pedal at a killer price considering all of its features.
I purchased this to work as an expression pedal for the Line 6 HX effects. It works straight out of the box, It connect with as TRS jack (a ¼ inch jack with Tip, Ring, Sleeve). It works perfectly and has opened up more features on the line 6. I Connected to the Line 6 HX effects, Turning on the Weeper, Classic distortion and the Colourdrive , Tonight Matthew, I'm going to be Jimi Hendrix.Reviewed by guitarguitar custome

Reviews:
I'm running through an inexpensive Marshall 30-watt solid state amp. Using a variety of guitars into the EHX volume pedal directly to the amp introduces a noticeable hiss that becomes very pronounced in the middle of the sweep. That said, when I run the EHX into a Pignose the hiss is nearly non-existent. Running a keyboard through the EHX into the Marshall works fine with no hiss. Must be something odd in my setup somewhere. Doesn't really accomplish what I'm looking for anyway, I think I'm looking for something more like a boost pedal. Seems to be a well-constructed pedal, works fine in some applications, just not through my particular guitar setup. Most of the other reviewers have no complaints so it's probably a great pedal, just not exactly what I need.buckg
Not a good unit,too cheap,I have quit using it.Dan
4. Hotone Vow Press Switchable Volume / Wah Pedal
Product Details:
Like new hot one vow press. works as it should. original owner. no signs of use. only a couple months old. never left my home studio. got it for the small footprint (it s actually smaller than some of my pedals) to be able to mount directly on a small board setup. it is not uncomfortable to use even being so small. i have just outgrown a small board and am upgrading to a separate volume and wah pedal. works very nicely and sounds good. the volume/wah setting is very nice for such a small footprint. it works as a volume pedal when in bypass and then as a wah when engaged. pretty cool.

Great little pedal. The wah wah gone is second to none. Takes up very little space on pedal board, is very simple and easy to use. Switch from volume pedal to wah wah easily and has setting for vol/wah wah combined. Would give give star but imho it is a little shy on volume. Still, I am very pleased with it. The pros far outweigh the cons and for the price……….You can't beat it!birdman7779

Reviews:
This item is rather quiet. No sound from the pot. Feels good with the amount of resistance with the foot on the pedal. Had one problem! I use a Yamaha Genos set up with the older FC7 two channel in/out pedal. The problem being is that all my registration presets weren't save with any particular setting for the 3rd Volume pedal. I had to go back through all registration presets and select the 3rd Assignment Pedal for Volume. Also, by using the 3rd pedal for volume, you now have no volume pedal control over MP3's played through SONG B. The only control now is through the SONG B volume slider on the panel. This makes playing along with MP3's more of a challenge.Jonathan
This is my fourth FC7, all four still going strong. I've been standing on the earliest one I bought for over a decade (often literally) and it shows no sign of giving up. But check it with the intended keyboard, some keyboard / pedal combinations aren't a great match – whichever pedal or keyboard you're using. I totally love the ability to change the sweep angle (for instance to cater for sitting or standing position. Stand, it's rock and roll.) and to set a range at the end of the travel that is sprung, which I use constantly for extra bite on a growling hammond.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
I purchased a Korg Exp‑2 Expression Pedal to work with my Korg Kronos 2. However, it works terribly with my Nord C2D that just came in the mail (thanks Sweetwater!). The Nord C2D has a menu setting that allows you to select a popular brand expression/volume pedal calibration (Korg, Yamaha, Roland, etc.). Selecting the Korg pedal calibration did nothing to fix the fact that, given an audio range of 1-100, the "climb" to 100 resets when you get to 30. This results in a horrible-sounding drop in volume back to 0 to as you try to increase it. This does not happen on the way down. With that said, the Yamaha FC7 is highly praised in many forums across the internet for being perfectly compatible with Nord instruments, and works perfectly with my Nord C2D (Very smooth). It's sturdy, won't move around on you (rubber gripping), and has an adjustable angle option. FYI: the TRS cable is built into the pedal, and you will need to attach the pedal to its base when you open the box for the first time.CJ

Still the best. Price increased only by $10 since inflation hit the pedal market, so not too bad. Tried many others. Still my go-to pedal. Heavy, fits my foot nicely. Not to small or large. L/R in/out, plus exp jack. Tension setting helps for fine tuning volume control. Recommend remove base plate and blow out rheostat once a year or so. I needed a pedal to help me get my volume right at shows….Using the gtr volume control and or a volume pedal in front of my pedal board just changes the drive into the FX. I get everything nicely balanced in the studio or at home, and then each venue has odd sound characteristics and sometimes I am too loud in my rhythm and too soft in my leads & no time to get everything adjusted just right. So I wanted a simple master volume pedal after all the FX and before the amp…(did not want to hassle with more cables needed for the FX loop). I have tried them all…none worked well for me….Well, here is what I learned: This pedal has a min volume control which allows more accurate setting of the pedal to the volume I need mid-song. This control was key, allowed me to zero in on the volume easily as small changes in the pedal position did not produce huge changes in volume. The pedal does not cut the quality, at least not in noisy bars and restaurants. So it's very good. But the real point is after years of not doing the volume thing well with my right foot I discovered that I was much better at the task using my left foot…and I am right handed!! This has changed everything. Turns out, the issue was my right leg is way sturdier to stand on and control the volume with my left foot. If you have a problem with this type of thing, just try your other foot. The pedal and this simple foot change basically solved the issue. I am not perfect, but way better than before and I get better with each gig!!BC 123
Our keyboard player also plays steel guitar. We built a stand that integrates with the keyboard, so she can switch between keyboard and steel very quickly. We now own two of these volume controls. The first one is mounted to the effects pedal attached to our keyboard. The other is a spare. We use channel 1 for keyboard volume control and channel 2 for steel guitar volume control. It saves us from cluttering our board with two pedals. I wish we could run stereo keyboard, but we forgo that for practicality. We like the overall feel of the FV-500L Stereo Volume Pedal. The only drawback we can find is its size. It's about a foot long. But overall we like it.Uncle Ronnie

Unless you have a lot of space on your pedalboard, and don't mind paying a lot for a known brand, passive volume/expression pedals don't have to be large and expensive. I own a couple Ernie Ball VP Jr volume pedals, and while these pedals are superior to the Boss FV50 in terms of build quality and feel, they're heavy. I'm putting together a small pedalboard for bus and train travel and so weight is my primary concern. I picked up the FV50H for use with guitar as well as the EV-5 expression pedal. So far they're working out great.hexagon
Some unusual advantages here, compared to most passive volume pedals: Weighs < 1 lb. (and feels even lighter); stereo throughput (good for keyboards); and minimal tone suck. Has the same abrupt taper as most volume pedals — active or passive — but its "minimum volume" knob helps you tweak this: You can set the pedal's heel position to provide anything between zero volume and full volume (= no cut from toe position). This simulates a more-gradual taper/response, if you can live with a heel position that doesn't entirely cut out your sound. E.g., set the heel position to your basic rhythm-guitar volume level, then rock forward to the toe position for solos. The Interwebs claim that you can use a TRS cable, plus a standard patch cable, to make any passive volume pedal work with an expression-pedal input. I haven't tried that yet with this one. But I like it — perfect for my needs.Grasshopper

Brilliant pedal for the priceoptimistatheart
I was skeptical about this purchase, but wanted a combo wah/volume pedal for my mini board. Well, this unit is great,if you are looking to go small. Sound quality: Better than my Crybaby! Really happy with the wah. The volume has an equal span across the pedal. Features: Small footprint. The only issue I had, and it's mostly cosmetic, is that I wish the leds were on the side rather top pedal because my foot covers the top and I cannot tell (sometimes) if I'm in wah/volume mode when playing with the band until I depress the pedal and listen closely. All in all I am very pleased with this pedal. I play professionally every weekend and believe this pedal will last a long time, as long as I take care because it is basically made from plastic.just42daysteve

Very sturdy, double purpose as volume and expression. Very satisfied!cjtr2012
Play guitar, bought it (and returned it) for the volume function, not the MIDI expression. Very nonlinear, uneven pedal response; sharp shoulder between no-signal and some-signal, very difficult to do a roll-on. Little change through the pedal sweep until you're nearly toe-down, when it changes a lot. This is not a useful pedal for finessing, would be okay for a simple level control. Heavy, solidly built, cast metal housing and good quality components, but doesn't match up where it counts. I have a Morley and a plastic Bespeco pedal that I'm keeping, this one goes back. I have 2 other Rocktron pedals that are great, this one is a disappointment.Guitar player-ecK-6
I use a Line6 Pod XT LIve and I was looking for an great expression pedal to use in conjunction with my current equipment. It did not work well as an expression pedal since this was midi but it works really well as a volume pedal. I was going to send it back but after seeing the quality of this item and the great feel it has when using it, I decided to keep it. I was going to buy the Line6 expression pedal but it's made of plastic and I didn't like that at all. Basically it's a great well built item and I would buy another one. My complete setup is a Line6 Pod XT Live, Line6 Flextone III Combo, 2 Fender Strats, Monster cables and this pedal.JJ GUITARPLAYA
15. Lehle Mono Volume 90 Pedal
Product Details:
This is by far my favorite volume pedal and i ve tried many high end ones. i ve had this for just a couple months, and only selling to rebuy the smaller one for my mini rig. lehle is definitely the of the line in quality and durability for sure. has some scuffs on the left side due to rubbing against the rail of my tight board. (never got banged up, was always secure) comes with the manual in mint condition. wish i still had the original box but i threw it out by accident. due to the scuffs i can t put mint condition but it s like new as you can see everywhere else.

This is a great volume pedal, the mechanical action is very smooth with adjustable tension. The taper response is good and adjustable though I found it fine straight out the box on the default setting. Being potless, as it is using a magnetic field to control volume level and has a built in pre-amp, it does not suck tone. I did a compare with the pedal in circuit vs straight from the guitar into the amp and could hear no discernable difference in the tonal response. I bought the mono 90 version of the pedal as I will use it with pedal steel guitar which requires the jacks to be on the right hand side of the pedal as opposed to having them on the front. Volume pedals dedicated to pedal steel guitar use are generally very expensive for what they are, this pedal came in at well below the cheapest comparable pedal steel pedal and functions just as well imho. Another positive feature is that it works with a standard 9v power supply, so can be powered from an existing pedal power supply. I believe it uses a voltage multiplier in the circuit to boost the 9v up to higher voltage which increases the headroom response. All in all, very pleased with it and would recommend this make of volume pedal.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

As a keyboard player it is excellent – I have 3 of them they are so goodMike H.

I've had this pedal for about maybe 5 months, great pedal. The best thing to do is to always read your manual because this particular pedal shuts off. That feature is to save you battery power, or just being on too long when you walk away. I hadn't gotten use to that at first. It pays to read the manual to figure out how to do it. But the Selections in where the layout is for the different tones, for rock and roll, blues, heavy metal, and R&B is it great pedal.astringmusic
It' easy to blow an afternoon exploring the wide variety of sounds this pedal can produce. While many of the effects are great there are quite a few duds mixed in there. You just have to play. There doesn't seem to be that much logic as to how the effects are grouped. You really need to write down your favorites. Out of 100 effects I think almost anyone can find 20 that they really like. Great pedal for the money.Lenny G.
The Stomplab has some very good patches right out of the box better than most MultiFX units. I rarely get to say that. Since I like to try them all, I think it excels in areas that can outdo expensive pedals. The amps sound really realistic and have beefy snappy mids right in your face with great projection and pop. The tones are designed to sound good as you play with EQ settings the amps seem to stay in the zone of what you would expect an actual amp would do. The best way to really experience this is to plug into a Hi Fidelity home stereo etc. and listen to how detailed the mix is. There is a Tube Screamer that seems to actually enhance just about every amp you try it with when trying to get some edge. The clean amps are some of the best out of the box tube gain style sparkling U2 like rhythms with clearly defined picking separation. This is probably about as good as it gets for these type sounds. Very metal like ballading with chorus and delay. Def Leppard Bringing on the Heartache or Photagraph come off terrific. The crunch sounds are very realistic and the US Hi Gain is about as good as it gets for 80s Metal. I can compare this to the VT Plus series because I have it. This pedal sounds good and really excels with a Tube amp. The VT Plus is a tube hybrid and the 12ax7 single tube does add a touch of edge as it is cranked but the pedal is the same Engine and the edge is subtle and the Tube Screamer SIM sounds close. Any sound can be had and it records from the line out with very good definition. Most of the amp sims are very good with little tweaking and I think it has the most good amp Sims of any other multi fx unit. Has way more variables than the VT Plus amp series and it is one of my favorites for downright realistic amp sounds. Hard to believe it but, it stacks up well against the bigger floorboards in respect to tone alone. More controls on the bigger units sometimes can take you too far off base. It really is well designed and keeps you sounding good.
19. Xotic Ep Booster Effects Pedal
Product Details:
Xotic effects ep booster what do the tones of renowned guitarist such as page, evh and johnson have in common? they all used the legendary echo machine ep-3 as a pre-amp. xotic effects have captured that magic in a new boost pedal, the ep booster. xotic effects uses the highest quality parts available with a discrete fet design and low impedance output, the ep booster provides up to +20db of unadulterated boost with multi-dimensional, shimmering highs and lows, and no ear fatigue. the internal dip switches let you choose the boost frequencies, and eq settings. housed in a small 3.5"x 1.5" x 1.5" case with blue led and transparent knob, the ep booster can be powered by 9-volt up to 18-volts. this used pedal is in very good condition. it shows some of cosmetic wear, but is fully functional. it has velcro on the bottom and a barefoot button on the switch. this pedal includes the original box, but it does have a faint smell of smoke and is discolored.

Reviews:
Amazing little pedal, set the internal DIP to flat and not the "vintage" roll off (my opinion) even if you use zero level boost the overall buffering and sweetening to your signal is just better. Once on, you will forget about it (end of chain, after drives) only when you switch it off you'll realize, "oh yeah that makes everything sound better". What it does to the EQ and overall signal tone is unlike any other pedal I have used including all so called "based on EP3 boost circuit" stuff. Had mine on the board for years now, still nothing has bumped it. The GOAT always on pedal! Try it.Paul
The line boost really brings out the amp's potential tonality. Cuts through the mix and really enhances the amp's tonal character. Currently running it in front of a Blackstar 100 watt tube head that is paired with a Marshall 1960 Vintage cab equipped with Celestion V 75's. The sound is great. The pedal's choice of using a 9V battery or direct power plug makes it even more versatile compared to other pedals that only run on a power source. Great little pedal.ZenCat
This is a great boost pedal, no doubt about that. I bought this used for less than half the price and while it does exactly what it should I have used boost pedals that are nearly identical that are at half this retail price point. If you have a lot of money to burn and are looking for the best boost this very well might be it, however this money may be better spent on a pedal that is more versatile and more noticeable in the overall sound of your pedal chain. This pedal is a clean boost and only flavors your sound slightly, and what it adds sounds very natural and very good; the build quality is top-notch aswell. So my rating is based on the fact that I feel such basic circuitry shouldn't cost as much as this does, and I would highly recommend buying this on the used market if you can get a nice discounted price.Rareintech
20. Goodrich Sound L-120 Low Profile Passive Volume Pedal
Product Details:
The goodrich l-120 is the "low profile" version as described above. wether sitting behind a steel guitar or standing over a pedal board, for additional balance and comfort, the "low profile" is available. if you are long-legged person, or prefer having both legs at about the same height when you play, the "lowboy" goodrich pedal is probably your answer. three quarters of an inch has been shaved off its height, and the pedal weighs a little less than the model h-120. otherwise, the two pedals are identical. many players appreciate this added comfort. it is a bit more expensive due to the additional machining required to reduce its height.
