I received a Fleor M00074-4 wrapped in tin foil with 2 screws and 2 springs. If you do a search for this brand, you'll see nothing but good reviews. I replaced the original single humbucker in my Peavey Rockmaster with the Fleor. The Fleor is quieter than the original (silence—no hum at all!). Plus, all the poles are adjustable. Sounds really good and just as loud! I suspect Fleor probably makes pickups for the other major brands. At this price, it is worth experimenting. They say you could a lot of money for a bad sounding pickup, so I recommend you start with this one.inyotree

I have been searching for years for a pick up like this! I primarily play Hard Rock and Metal. I have spent hundreds of dollars on Seymour Duncan, Dimarzio, and EMG pickups. I was always looking for the pickup that was so well rounded that it sang when I played my guitar. But, I could never find a pickup that gave me the clarity to hear every note on the low end and fatten up thin mids and treble. Well now I've found it. Railhammer pickups are 5 star plus in my book. Loud, clear sound, and tones through my amp. Clear sharp lows which are not muddy. Mids and Highs even and not thin. They actually sounf beefy. Artifical and natural harmonics ring out. NO feedback at all, and they are as quiet as my EMG 85/81 set. As a matter of fact for a set of passive pickups, they put my EMGs to shame! I have a Hypervintage (neck) and Chisel (bridge) setup. I've had a number of Railhammer pickups in various guitars over the years, since they first hit the market: Gnarly90, Tel90, Alnico Grande, and Hypervintage and they have all been fantastic pickups. The Hypervintage is one of my favorites (put it in 2 guitars), because it has a great vintage PAF tone when rolled back and/or played clean, but really shines with a little overdrive. Very responsive to pick attack, super articulate, even with heavy overdrive and is one of the easiest pickups I've found to bring out nicely controlled pinch harmonics. I tend to favot single coils and feel that many humbuckers are too dark nd mushy, but these have a balanced brightness and clear tone. Definitely in the same class as Seymor Duncans and Bare Knuckles, for half the price!Ronbo

I have been using the 81-7 for a few years now(although mine is an earlier issue with the extended housing). I have it installed in a Schecter Damien 7 which I use as my primary guitar for practice and home recording. I find that this pickup is great for this type of application as it cuts down a great deal on the amount of noise you get with computers and TV's in the room. At home I play and record using a Line6 Pod X3 and the EMG's are great for low volume playing. I have also used that guitar live but the pickups give me A LOT of feedback at high gain/volume settings. Right now I have the 81-7 in the neck position with a 707 in the bridge. Since the 81 has a greater mid range voicing it tends to sound very well balanced and clear at the neck while the 707 provides slightly sweeter tones at the bridge. The 81-7 can sound very flat or even harsh at the bridge depending on what kind of amp you are using.No matter what position, I do recommend doing the 18 volt mod if you use EMG's(google it). The increase in power is really noticable and it essentially gives the pickups the dynamics of passive pups while maintaining their active gain character. EMG's are actually designed to operate at up to 27volts but 3 batteries is just not practical in most cases.some guy-mr0kN
The EMG 60A is of course a 60 with the ceramic magnet swapped for Alnico. What's the difference? Well it has a Kim Jong-un and smoother sound, less of the hard 'clang' to the treble of the 60(c) for sweeter cleans and a more open, fluid delivery with the gain turned up. The age old EMG 18v mod works magic bringing better dynamic response, clarity with extended frequency response and depth. 50k pots add a touch more bite.pauln4813
The reason for replacing my 8 string bridge pickup was simple – I needed much more clarity on the low end, and way more high mids in the signal. The 808x delivered. The pickup is dynamic, packs a solid punch, cuts through the mix, sounds amazing. The noise performance is great, as expected from EMGs, the installation is easy as pie with the solderless system using dupont cables (btw. The system is compatible with ANY dupont cable, not proprietary). The pickup reacts beautifully to height regulation, while maintaining solid signal-to-noise ration, and output. Not enough lows? Bring it closer to the strings. Want more mid range? Lower the pickup a bit. In fact, you can lower it very far without losing too much power. So far I mostly used passive pickups, but this one got me convinced, that passives are not always the answer to your tone needs.

The Mojotone clone of the 72 wide range humbucker was exactly what I was looking for in tones and quality. I installed these in a Fender parts-caster build of a deluxe tele and am very happy. Clear mids with a nice balance of of chime and punchy bass. Playing through an Orange 7W head and 112 cabinet. Haven't played then a ton yet but if your looking for clarity and warmth these are what you want i did change the pots to 500k with the solderless kit from mojotone holy cow what a pita to get those wires in the green pinch block! I can solder and wish i would have gone that route but i figure it would be faster to go with the prewired ones. Overall very satisfied with them looked at others but liked the fact that these were made with adjustable pole screws which gives you a little more options.

Manufacturer Support: Haven't had to deal with EMG for any kind of support. So I can't say anything Overall: Just got this set in. I put them in a LTD H-1001 that originally had the 81/85. Yes the 81/85 is a timeless combo bit these to me sound so much cleaner and clear. They respond amazingly. The cleans barely break up and not muddy at all. And when put through distortion it just gets better. Only thing I would do differently is ordered one of the EMG switches just to save some time on hooking it all up
I bought these because I like my EMG 81 & 85 set, and wanted to experience other models from EMG. I was impressed within the first few seconds! The 57 is richer and fuller than the EMG 81, while retaining the squealing harmonics that I desire. If you like active pups, you'll love these. I have tried many EMGs over the years and have never found any that I liked. To me, the tone always sounded sterile, lifeless, maybe even a bit processed…just didn't do it for me. After reading several reviews & watching numerous YouTube videos, I decided to take a chance on these. I'm glad I did! I had an LTD Deluxe EC-1000FR that I bought used and it had a pair of the Seymour Duncan Slash signature pickups in it when I got it. While those pickups sound great in a Gibson Les Paul, they were not well suited for this guitar. The LTD originally would have had EMG 81/60 in it, but I already knew I didn't like those. So having PAF-style pickups in all of my other guitars, I wanted a similar tone for this one but with the amount of gain similar to the Bareknuckle Nailbomb that I have in my Les Paul. I didn't really want to put a $360 set of Bareknuckle pickups in a guitar I only paid $500 for though so when I discovered these at almost half the cost, I thought I'd give them a try. They're perfect for this guitar! All the mids, fullness, and dynamics normally associated with PAF pickups but with plenty of gain to really get things cooking! They are quite versatile for most any kind of music, whether it be metal, hard rock, classic rock, or heavy blues, I feel any styleis possible. Finally, a set of EMGs I love! I have a new found sense of respect for EMG and will likely have more guitars with these pickups in the future! The Alumitone series has always had my curiosity. I play mainly metal, and i wanted something that would give my guitar a really sick tone and be all there. I knew i wanted a Dimebucker in the neck position.(kinda an experiment really) So i bought the Deathbucker for the bridge and i couldnt be happier. The guitar is an Epiphone goth v with a floyd rose. I really wanted to see how this pickup worked with a trem, and to be honest we all know how well a dimebucker goes with one. All and all my experiment was a success and this guitar is rocking now. Sweet crisp highs, and the lows are nice and chunky but not dirty at all. It doesnt matter too much what you do with this pickup it will meet your needs. work the cash!!!!!!
These pickups are awesome. I installed them in a chapman standard ML2. They look simply fantastic. This is a light guitar to begin with and these took off almost 2 more lbs, making this the lightest most comfortable guitar to play that I own. I installed them so that coils can be split, but I almost never do that, I just play them in full humbucker mode. Still, it's a nice option for more tonality. I did not replace the pots with 250k pots (guitar has 500k pots) and I think they still sound great. The literature that they come with says that they are optimized for 250k pots, I will probably try them like that eventually, but for now I'm really happy with how they sound. They are incredibly noise free, except for the noises that you want to make. They sound sick through all my amps, tube and solid state. They play friendly with all my effects pedals. Sound great clean or dirty. This is the second pair of Lace pickups that I have, and I think Lace is my new brand. I'm in the process of building a new guitar from scratch right now, and I'll bet that Lace pups will end up in that too.MCL
I was excited to receive these pickups. I was playing EMG 81/85s for 14 years but there was always a lack of warmth in those. I have since switched all my guitars to Duncan Blackouts which are amazing. I had one 9v battery start to leak in a guitar (thanks duracell!) so I wanted to try something that would supposedly be similar. Wired as recommended, brand new Bourns 250k tapping pots (250k pots recommended). Their wiring diagram on the site is a 50% wiring diagram and LACE references another 3rd party site for diagrams which show (coil tapping) wiring different from theirs. I had to re-write the recommended 3rd party diagram with theirs to get it to work properly (come on guys…..) These pickups are lacking that overdrive push/output level. I have been playing both side-by-side over the past few days through the same 3 amps and same exact Schecter Custom XXX guitars. They just don't have that compressed "UMPH" that the blackouts have. They have a more MEDIUM output sound when compared to the blackouts. I am returning them unfortunately… They would probably be good if you are coming from vintage humbuckers and want a little more balls but if you are looking for the "tightness" and "compression" of actives you won't get it…Toner

I've played a lot of different Strats over the years and while they all had "that Strat sound" to varying degrees, the Fat '50s achieve seem to be the most authentic. By adding a treble bleed and turning down the volume a bit, I can get those classic chimey tones from the 50s and with the volume all the way up, I can get the bigger sounds from the 60s. The cleans are sparkling, but they sound great running through higher gain amps as well. Compared to pickups like the Texas Specials, these are not harsh to my ears, even in the bridge position. The Fender Mexican made 2017 Stratocaster is a nice guitar and as a standard out of the box guitar is good. One easy way to upgrade the sound is by installing the Fender Custom Shop Fat 50's pickup set. I measured the ones on a custom shop 59 before purchase to be sure of string alignment. I purchased a set and fitted them in about half an hour, fortunately my Mex ST had an Oak type 5 way and full size pots so no more upgrade work needed there. I did change the pot knobs and switch knob to white to match the new pickup covers. I installed a new set of strings, the pickups were test adjusted and sound great, a nice full sound, the front one is very rounded and clear, the middle is a classic sound and the back nice and strong. I was after a Shadows style of sound and these pickups did not disappoint. They give a clear sound and the right sound if you are looking for pure vintage tone.matt66red
I waited 5 months to write this review, I'll try to be unbiased. I replaced the stock ceramic pickups from a Fender Standard MIM. It's my first change of pickups ever, and the first time I play a guitar that sounds so classic, so I can not tell about the difference with a higher end model of Strat or a vintage one, but here goes my opinion: This pickups totally rock, well they don't only do rock, they play everything you want to hear from a instrument called "guitar", that means, 6 strings thru a wood body, they deliver the classic and just necessary electric guitar experience. No gimmicks, just the real thing, classic clean sound, lots of harmonics, dynamic sound, and driven sound wonderful, because they can be strong too, classic surf rock sound here. Took me a couple of days to adjust the proper height, the Alnico V magnets are strong so you have to be delicate to find the right spot for the three PUs, but once you are there, they are marvellous. The three pickups are pretty much the same, states the box, but the three positions are there, and the case with the medium pickup is a great surprise, it sounds very nice, very "middy" usable position, sounds as a custom medium pickup. The mid to late 1960's saw a very new type of music coming from the clubs of england. it was an whole new interpretation of the blues, much harder and definitely louder than anything before. players were now demanding more powerful amplifiers with increased volume outputs which led to a need for a more versatile pickup that could prevent microphonic feedback at such high volume levels. gibson's answer was the revolutionary 490t and 490r pickups ('t' for treble, and 'r' for rhythm), which had the traditional characteristics of the original 'patent applied for' pickups.first, a four-conductor wiring scheme allowed the 490s to be connected to any push/pull knob, allowing players to split the coils and increase versatility. gibson also introduced wax potting, which did away with any air space, minimalizing microphonic feedback. a high-output version of the 490t, this 498t humbucker combines the more powerful response of an alnico v magnet with additional matched windings on each coil, which emphasises upper midrange frequencies for enhanced crunch and sustain. the 498t is perfect for any hard rock application, easily overdriving amplifiers to boost any guitar's power and presence. the pole pieces on the 498t are also aligned a little further apart to accommodate the slightly wider string spacing at the bridge.

I bought this humbucker to replace a Seymour Duncan SH-5 Custom that was installed years ago on my Epiphone Korina Explorer (Korean, 90s model). I did this because the other mentioned is a pickup that scoops the mids; and I noticed that when playing in my band, I was constantly competing for the same sound frequencies as our bass player. So when I changed to this pickup (which does the opposite of scooping the mids, but instead boosts them) the guitar tone cuts through the mix muuuuch easier. This allowed me to even be able to reduce the volume of my guitar which was loud as hell before and hence sounded annoying even to me. In sum, this pickup is a warm, midrange sounding hot pickup that will allow you to actually be heard in the mix.
Sounds amazing. You've heard this pickup your entire life on countless tracks. The perfect hard rock, hot pickup. Mine measured 14.26 and I'm very happy with that. Similar in sound to the JB but slightly less midrange focus and a bit more treble. Very nice. The only issue and the reason it gets 4 starts for me is the crazy thin wiring which makes it extremely difficult to strip. Possibly 24 AWG or even thinner. Good luck with that as it will take multiple tries before you get a good clean strip. Still a great sounding pickup if you want the hard stuff!John

This pup has the clarity with it's magnet structure and materials to push the front end of a good tube amp significantly more due to 50% more windings, and not be totally out of balance with neck pups averaging just under 8Kohm. Potting is excellent and it is dead quiet in operation. Nickel silver cover is excellent quality, and the fact that you have the four conductor leads let's you do some coil splitting and alternative hookups. I believe Tonerider as a brand is a step above GFS and Artec, both of which have some excellent value models in their lines, and provide "boutique-style" models at very reasonable prices a working player can afford. I believe after a few hours of playing this pickup, it is best for darker tone woods like mahogany, basswood, etc. when used in solid body designs. I put this pickup in a cheap HSH Strat that I've had sitting around since the early 2000's. The stock pickups were too thin and sharp sounding–except the middle single coil which sounded okay. I was deciding between this Railhammer pickup and humbucker sized widerange pickups from several manufacturers. I'm glad I picked Railhammer. This neck pickup is exactly the fat noiseless single coil sound that I was searching for. It sounds thick with just a touch of hair in the mids. The clarity across all strings is the best I've heard. I also put a Cleancut pickup in the bridge position but I didn't like that as much as it sounded a little ***** on my Strat. I added a cool rails (humbucker in single coil size) to the middle position–but I wired it in series–so that the low end rounded out the ***** bridge pickup. This is a great sounding set up and maybe one of the best for clean and spanky tones of any guitar that I've had yet (I've owned Les Paul, Hagstrom, Strats, Tele, PRS, Dan Electro, etc.).Jonathan R.
I never thought I'd get my volume this equal across all 6 strings. The half-and-half design really appealed to me, but there was no way of knowing until I actually bought and installed it. It's just as effective as the design implies, it's not a novelty! I play a lot of complex chords using all 6 strings in a high gain setting, and every note cuts through, retaining touch sensitivity all the while. There is an inherent compression in the pickup which might not be everyone's cup of tea, but in a mix it's not a problem, if anything it's a benefit. The harmonic content is rich and musical, the high output is assertive without being abrasive, the bass response is fantastic, the highs are pleasing although subdued, which is ok with me because with normal pickups I usually dial the tone knob down to 6 or 7. I keep it wide open with the Railhammer and it sounds awesome. I can't recommend them enough if you want to generate a rich wall of sound with one guitar. I'm surprised this company hasn't become industry standard!Brendan

Both this set last year. only been installed in one guitar. all the wiring and pots have been taken out of the guitar and are included. i am not a guitar tech but everything that was in the guitar is in the packing you get. you can reference the pictures to see more or less what you re getting. everything should be fine but i ve made the price reflect the event that something needed isn t there. the set is missing a tone pot. the set comes with 2 volume pots and 1 tone. you would have to get an emg passive tone potentiometer if you wish to do a 2×2 configuration. happy bidding !

Just fitted this zakk wylde set into my Les Paul. Easy to fit as everything was plug in with no soldering required. Took 2 hours from start to finish. The sound is amazing with no hiss or hum..which is one of the amazing features of active pickups. High clear punching lead with plenty of tone & the ryhtmn is tight and controlled even with screaming amounts of distortion and high amp volume. Would recommend even if your not a zakk fan or into metal…these cover a wide genre of styles. The kit came with long shaft pots which are a must for gibson Les Paul but buy the standard set if you have a thinner guitar like a SG type.imp_uk
I've been a passive humbucker user for a while and decided to go a different route with my Gibson Les Paul…I followed the tutorial installation video on the EMG website and viola!! Easy installation. They have a great overall sound…I play metal, Rock, Punk and similar types of songs.
