Best Guitar Pedal Power Supply (2024 Update)

I picked this up merely for the price point and I gotta say I'm impressed. Powers up to 8 pedals silently and barely takes up any space on my pedalboard. Fantastic product.Imnotluckyjustsaved

There have been two occasions where the power adapter has just fallen out of the brick during live shows. It's meant either frantically flipping over my board to plug it back in, or even restarting the song. The length of the cord is way too short, and the connection is way too loose. The transformer is also power-strip unfriendly, and I much prefer the design of the One Spot. It also really bothers me that the individual plugs that the brick uses aren't right angled when they connect to the pedals, which means that the plug housing sticks out of the pedal board on your top row of pedals. Everything uses proprietary connectors too, except for where they connect to the pedal, so it's impossible to improve the design through tinkering. The unit also mounts very clumsily to my pedaltrain board. I had to ziptie it to the bottom side of my tuner pedal at this haphazard angle. The one-spot is 1/5th the price and doesn't suffer from any of these problems, I'm going back.Donald

I have 3 of these on 3 separate boards. I would and will get more if I ever need to in the future. These are compact, come with plenty of cable length and power cord length. mount them right side up or upside down, in a clamp or set on top of your board. Worth every penny!Azuljay

There's two problems with this G-BUS-8. First, the outputs are not as isolated as you'd think. The eight 9V outputs are wired directly to each other in parallel. This does not constitute isolation. The only isolation you get, is the 9V outputs from the 18V outputs. Second, the 120VAC to 18VDC wallwart adapter uses a proprietary plug to connect to the G-BUS-8 and that plug and wire is very very fragile. It is not durable enough for gigging. It WILL wear out for you, and then you'll discover the fun part; you cannot replace it. Gator does not offer the AC adapter as a repair or replacement item. They expect you to buy the whole unit again. This is an unacceptable business practice. Don't buy this. Get the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power ISO-5. It actually does what it claims, and is built to handle an active career in your pedalboard.Bryan316

This works great. It has a lot of outputs all of which provide up to 500 mah. I am able to run traditional, Strymon and 18v pedals in my loop and it is silent now. I am very happy with this power supply. I can't speak to longevity as I've only just gotten it but it feels well built to me.Josh S.

Terrific power supply that has 12 ports each one rated at 500mA each should cover majority of pedals, 10 of them at 9v & two that can be changed from 9,12 or 18v, which sold it for me as one of my pedals is 12v. The case is strong & sturdy being made of metal. If you find your pedals increase in number above the 12 ports you can connect another engine room to your existing one, brilliant.Nigel E.

This power supply is great so far. I haven't had it long so I can't vouch for longevity. However, with all my pedals plugged in my loop is silent and I was instantly impressed. Using with A mix of pedals including Strymon and 18v on Fulltone Dejavibe. It has a lot of outputs and comes with enough cables for all. So far no complaints.Josh S.

I wanted a pedal power supply to replace the DC Brick I'd been using on a secondary pedalboard (I didn't like the messy thin cables and the wall-wart type power adapter). This supply hit my radar because it used a regular IEC power cable and had enough outputs (including an 18 V) for my needs. The unit is compact, comes with mounting brackets and durable, high quality extension cables. Some are as long as 17", some are as short as 11", so you have to be aware of your pedals proximity to the supply when choosing. I also appreciate that the power outputs are labeled in a way that's easy to read. It certainly served it's purpose. It certainly cleaned up my board; I'm very happy with it.Swerve City Guitarist

I used to use a basic power supply daisy chained up with no issues over the years, apart from the usual cable wear out at the plug end. I then went 'pro' and bought a very expensive power brick. It took me weeks to work out that my expensive power brick was the root cause of pedal issues. So I went back to the basics 🙂 Recently, I have re-sorted my pedal board and wanted to use a kettle lead as the power supply but was very wary of using these bricks. Someone recommended Truetone and I checked them out. They make big claims for their products (as they all do!) but I was impressed by the fact that they seemed to have understood guitar players issues. I bought the 1 Spot Pro and fitted it to my pedal board. I have now played at least 30 gigs with it fitted and have had no issues whatsoever 🙂 Truetone live up to their claims and I, for one, am a firm fan Chris – The ModSkaschris_matic

Great power supply. Absolutely silent. No noise at all. No hum. Nothing. Love it! I bought the Truetone CS7 instead of Voodoo for two reasons: Truetone gets slightly better reviews from the pros, and it has four outputs that are switchable from 9v to 12v. With Voodoo it takes a y-cable to convert to 18v, which takes up two slots. I have a 12v pedal so this or Strymon are the only options that I'm aware of. The price was good, too.MICHAEL

I was surprised that these were less expensive than the knock-offs, which means there's no need to daisy chain power (a bad idea). They are a bit bigger than the newer power supply units and they only supply 200ma so don't try to run your Big Sky or other power hungry pedals.-jim

If you own an EHX effect, this is a no brain-er. If you dont and you want a very quiet 9.6v 100ma or daisy chain the 200ma version EHX power adaptors are a great choice. Did I mention how long quiet they are ? Ok next is the super long cord. Which works great in the home practice area if you are needing to string it a ways. Always use a multi plug outlet with breaker for safety and always unplug everything when storms threaten. Shred On !gr_786082

Purchased this to go with my Electro Harmonix Switchblade+ ABY pedal….mostly because it is the matching power supply for that pedal, and somewhat because the price was right. This IS a good power adaptor; it doesn't create any unwanted interference to my pedal, guitar, or amp…but the thing is big and bulky. WHY? I have nice sleek Fulltone power adaptors that do the same thing, only at a third of the size, but three times the cost. I guess a guy has to give up space to get something at a decent price (how does that happen?). If this thing wasn't so big it would get 5 stars, because it is every bit as good as Fulltone as far as performance goes—but if someone is looking to save space on their pedal chain power bar, they may want to go another direction.White Dog

This was perfect for my pedal board; its small size was perfect for my music corner. No hum interference whatsoever which is one of the reasons why I purchased this power supply. It was on sale which made it even better. Highly recommend this power supply.Charles

Overall: I bought this as an upgrade from a one spot daisy chain and oh boy what a difference. This vastly improved the tone of every single pedal I plugged into it. I run 6-8 pedals: overdrives, vibe (18 volts), fuzz (some center positive) and delay. Everything sounds richer. I like the reverse polarity cables for some Fulltone fuzzes and the 18-volt adapter for my vibe unit. Can’t go wrong with this product. I was planning on selling a bunch of pedals before I bought this because they didn’t sound that great, but turns out the power supply was the issue.Mike

Cioks knocks it out of the park with having 7 independent and powerful power provision. I can power several big pedals like the timeline, bigsky, h9, and more. On top of that, this kit comes with several incredibly useful power adapters. I wont name any brands, but 3 of the other major pedal power solutions give like 8-12 normal power cables and maybe 1-2 specialty cables. This unit came with like 10 normal cables, 2 multi tap pedals, 3-4 eventide rated pedals, negative and positive center cables, etc… What this product does requires 3-4 add on kits from other brands to make up a portion. Its small and has been solid as a rock.Eric j

Great power supply!!!! I powers everything I have and more! Connections are easily made and it is dead quiet. It's light weight and easily fits my Pedal Train Pedalboard. I've gotten rid of all my wallwarts and the power strip i had velcro'd to the bottom of my board (more weight reduction). So far, it's working great and lights up beautifully! Purchased this power supply for my large Gator Pedal Board and it is a perfect match. I've collected a lot of pedals over the years and it's nice to find something that is versatile enough to power them all.Joel

the power bank is very useful, you don't have to have it all messed with cables. it also eliminates the parasite noises from electrical network that normal wired power banks have. the only con is that it doesn't retain the charge for long periods, you have to recharge it in regular basis.boatman_70

Bought unit new. Stayed on pedalboard for home use. Power input jack is intermittent after just 2 years light use. Power comes on and off depending on how hard you breathe on the cord. Tried several different cords and still same issue. Unit totally unusable at this point. Should have bought voodoo lab and so should you.72telecasterthinline

The Walrus Aetos Power supply Is the best one I have found so far. It really does make a difference in the sound. I AB'd it with a week known wall wort with a daisy chain with 5 effects. There was an audible noise signal. Using The Walrus, zip. Totally silent. At $169 it's not cheap, but if you use a lot of effects it's definitely worth the price. You won't be disappointed!squankman

Biggest advantage over the majority of chargers is the thick auxiliary power cord. My devices, guitar effects pedals, are on the floor, get moved around and near other devices while plugged in, so this is an important feature. Definitely worth the few extra dollars.becker-js

I have a small board, 18 8, with 6 125B enclosures, 2 mini buffers and needed a small, quiet power supply. I was very pleasantly surprised by the MXR mini-iso. I briefly owned the the MXR Iso Brick. I found it noisy and flimsy. The Mini Iso is well built and extremely quiet, even with ALL my pedals engaged. The wall wart power supply supply is relatively small and the cord is much thicker than previous MXR products. It could be longer but the length is not a real issue. The best thing about the mini-iso is IT IS SMALL, about the size of an Xotic EP Booster. The only major issues I have with it is that MXR is still using the same flimsy wires to connect from the mini-iso to your pedals. Also, It would be great if there were more connectors, especially if they are going to include such cheap ones.guitarhobby

I use this on my tiny board with only three pedals. It fits really well on small boards with only a few pedals. Unfortunately, if you move the board while its plugged in, the power cable will lose its connection. I've tried taping it or securing it, but it still loses connection. This ended up breaking my newest pedal from turning on and off quickly multiple times while just sitting there. I am now trying to warranty this two day old pedal. I don't understand how this is such a highly rated power source. If I move or bump my board it disconnects power and sends a huge popping noise through my amp. Not cool. How can the power supply connection be that delicate?Bryguy

This particular power supply is even more space conscious than i thought. It is tiny and takes up very little room. Works perfect and is very practical, would recommend for anyone making a smaller pedalboard.Tanner A.

I fretted and researched and watched reviews on YT… finally pulled the trigger on an MXR iso power source. I only run a few pedals. Never really got into the giant pedal board thing. The MXR M238 is way more than I will ever need or use. I bought it to give the few pedals I do have a quality isolated power source. I was using a power all which works great for a couple of low power consuming pedals. The MXR M238 is a quality piece of gear and I highly recommend it. It has two adjustable plugs that range from 6-15v which is awesome for those pedals that can take variable voltage without blowing up. With the variety of power plugs available it is super flexible and I feel certain this would power a large board if you daisy chained maybe 2-3 of your low power consuming pedals to a higher mA plug. There's so many options with this unit, that was the deciding factor for me when buying this. It's built like a tank in an all metal enclosure. It came with extra DC power cables. The biggest surprise is how small it is. It isn't much bigger than your average size effect pedal.mathewsguitarworks

After researching the various pedalboard power supplies, the ISO-Brick seemed to offer the best bang for the buck for me. It has a generous number of isolated DC outputs (10 total). I was particularly impressed that there was a generous range of amperage ratings for the 6 dedicated 9V outputs that were available (2x100mA, 2x300mA and 2x450mA). While the 100mA outputs are adequate for overdrives and some other analog pedals, the 300 and 450 mA 9V outputs are particularly helpful for driving digital pedals. I have a variety of TC Electronic pedals, so the additional amperage compared to competing products was an important selling point for me. The ISO-Brick also offers two 18V/250mA outputs, which works great for my Pigtronix Tremvelope. There are also two variable voltage outputs (6-15V) rated at 250 mA. Each of these two outputs have a tiny pot to adjust the voltage and the only marking between 6-15V is for 9V. I would have preferred at least one dedicated 12V output at greater than 300mA to drive my TCE Nova Repeater. Instead, I am using a 9V 450mA output for the Repeater. The lower voltage limits the headroom the Repeater but it is rated from 9-12V and seems to work fine. My ISO-Brick came with ten 26-inch end-to-end DC supply cables. These cables seem to be reasonably good quality. Given the variety of outputs and the potential for confusion when connecting a bunch of pedals, color-coded cables and outputs would have been a nice touch but a little bit of colored electrical tape did the trick for me. I also appreciate that the ISO-Brick has a bright blue LED for each output to verify each is connected to a pedal. All in all, I am very pleased with the ISO-Brick. It does its job for minimizing noise and allows you to connect up to 10 pedals.Victor

I am running several pedals into my half stack Vai Legacy tube amp and getting a hum mainly from my boost pedal and compressor/sustain pedals. I bought a Furmin power conditioner and then the iso brick but still have a hum. I guess Ill just have to get a noise gate? (my old one died, maybe from too much noise! Lol). I researched several isolated power supplies and I believe this is a good value, but didnt solve MY problem. It may solve yours, but its hard to recommend something that didnt help me.imwrenscott
