1. Behringer Cs400 Compressor / Sustainer Pedal
Product Details:
The behringer cs400 compressor/sustainer cs400 effects pedal is an affordable way to add some serious finesse to your playing. dynamics play an important role in music. they help to convey emotion, whether it's a sultry blues solo or the unrelenting gallop of unfettered metal. but uncontrolled dynamics can take all your best intentions and turn them into mush. that's where the behringer cs400 comes in, softening loud sounds and boosting low signal levels to keep everything more uniform. ever notice how some strings on your guitar or bass sound louder than others? this is partly due to physics. strings with lower mass just don't put out as much volume as the heavier ones. when used properly, a compressor makes all of the strings the same volume. compressors are also great for slap-style bass players, making thumb slaps, string pulls and muted notes all the same volume, for an extremely percussive effect. – the cs400 compressor/sustainer is easy to use. you can dial in the right amount of compression using the dedicated attack and sustain dials. the level control allows you to set the output to subtle, or engage a monster volume boost. tone lets you add exactly t – compress loud and bosst low signals without degrading the original sound – dedicated level, tone, attack and sustain controls – blue status ledfirst-class electronic on/off switch for highest signal integrity in bypass mode – rugged construction ensures long life

Reviews:
I was a little skeptical of the price of this compressor but since I already own a VAMP 3 and it is very good so I decided to try it. The unit is made of a kind of indestructible plastic and is very solid. I like the added controls for volume and tone as well as the compression controls. The compression is excellent and the attack sweep is pronounced and has a wide range that is really useful. It sounds especially good on the split coil settings and is smooth and extremely quiet. I would definitely recommend this pedal to anyone. It may not be as good as ones that cost 4 or more times as much but it is pretty close.Jerzy
Maybe its just because its the first compressor Ive owned, but this paired with a Behringer noise suppressor has completely made my playing time more enjoyable. Its clean and quiet and makes everything you play sound lush, warm, and interesting. Lots of ability to dial this pedal to your taste. If you are losing faith in your playing or just getting bored with your sound, pick this pedal and a noise suppressor up. You wont be disappointed. And the price/value ratio couldnt be better in my opinion.yellowbrickroadcommodities
This is a low cost but great sounding compressor pedal for guitar.I have two other compressor pedals (as well as two rack compressors) that both cost more than three times what this Behringer pedal cost but I like this one better. It just does the job without adding noise or coloration to the guitars tone. I have been playing pro for 40 years now and have been through many pedals, amps and guitars in that time. Fortunately I got over the "fancy name brand only" stigma that many people still have and just look for something that is cost effective and just does the job. This compressor is a great example. My set up is my Les Paul or Epiphone Sheraton into the Behringer pedal then out to my old Dunlop Wah pedal to a BBE Sonic Stomp (also a great product) into a VOX VT30 amp mic'd to the PA with a Shure SM58. (Although there is a decent compressor built into the effects section of the VOX VT30 I like the Behringer better.) If you are looking for quality sound at a great price buy the Behringer pedal. (Don't buy the Behringer DC9 compressor pedal. I bought that one first. It colors your tone noticbly and compresses the signal way too much and makes your tone thin and weak,)
2. Gamechanger Audio Plus Sustain Pedal

Built like a tank, similar in operation to the EHX Freeze pedal but more expressive. I like the brass sustain pedal, it is easy to modulate the volume of the repeated phrase. You do have to be accurate in where you get the pedal to freeze the sound as it can result in a burbling type staccato repeat if you are not careful. I got the Wet switch unit with it but I cant see me using in the Wet mode very often.acppsavage
3. Keeley Compressor Plus Pedal
Product Details:
The legendary mr. keeley's creamy compressor gets gorgeous sustain, reminiscent of dimeola playing strawberry fields. sonny landreth tones are ready to roll out of your rig, with this gem at the front end to push all subsequent sounds and pedals into a bit sweeter dimension of smoothness, like a hand polished sculpture made of sound.4 knobs give you a fine tuned tone palette with a wealth of "sweet spots" across a spectrum of tones. can't find a bad one. just leave it on, like butter on your toasty playing. adjust on the fly for getting more moody, more glass, or more grit. flip the switch to set if for your single coils or humbuckers – yeah, keeley thought of that and gave us a head start to set up our primary tonality. this pro level pedal is a classy as can be! the box is long gone, but this pedal is built to last a lifetime of professional enjoyment.

Reviews:
I bought this compressor intending to use it with both Fender Strat and my bass guitar. I am a professional music producer and listened to the unit carefully in the studio headphones. It is a great tool if you know what to use it for. When used with a strat it makes the sound crisp and places the funky clean tone perfectly in the mix. The tone is somewhat on the colder side, with bright fluid sustain added to the sound. Think about it as a sustainer first and then compressor. Great tool in the pallette. However, there are a few things to keep in mind: – the unit makes a sub low cut when engaged even with the minimum effect added to the direct signal. Bassists bear this in mind (unless you are a hardcore punk bassist playing with distortion and a pick and don't care much about your sub bass tone). It can also be felt on the clean electric guitar sound (if it's funky tone in the band setting you would cut off the low end of the strat anyway). – with higher compression ratio settings you get more sustain but some noise is also added. – if you want to use the 9V battery with the unit keep in mind that to change the battery you need to use a screwdriver for 4 screws to remove the back panel of the unit.J
I love this pedal. I play an Epi Les Paul Classic, into my pedalboard, and into a 90's Peavey Bandit. The amp has a Jensen Mod soesker, not the original Scorpion speaker. The Bandit with this speaker has a great clean channel. I'm a long time Fender guy. Strats and Teles. I like a clear, bright fundamental tone. I found myself compensating with the LP and using the bridge pickup a lot. But still not satisfied with the clean tones from the LP. That changed when I put the Keeley Compressor Plus on my board. The conbination of the Blend control and the Tone knob gives me what I want. The Tone control is, to my ear, an exceptional circuit. I get the bright, clear tone I need and superb sustain. This pedal is a godsend for playing slide. The compressor goes before my dirt pedals with beautiful results-1-. I use a Boss SD-1 overdrive and a Donner Dark Mouse – a Rat clone. I'm very impressed with this compressor. I put all controls at about 12:00, which the manual recommends for humbuckers. Minimal tweaks from there to get what I want. I love that it doesn't squash the life out of my pick attack. It is always on. Works great with acoustic/electrics as well. Great, musical piece of gear. Well done, Mr. Keeley.Mister G.
Bought it to replace a cheaper compressor pedal that I wasn't happy with. Having been used to high quality rack compressors, was looking for a compressor pedal that could keep up to the bare minimum quality I need to record at home. Inserted it on my signal chain, turned it on and it was pure magic, just couldn't stop playing and fiddling with the controls. Especially love the blend control, that gives this pedal a lot of versatility. For the price you get amazing quality. Really, buy it, you won't regret it.

Reviews:
Great little device. Different to a looper. Great for creating background washes of tonal color on-the-fly. If you got adept at it, you could use it to great effect in live performance. Personally, I use it to practice scales and arpeggios. Very effective and easy to use. I don't know how different or similar the electronics are, but it would be great to see this device combined with a looper. They're similar in concept. An extra stomp switch combination, and you could be looping, not just freezing. Not a criticism. Just a suggestion.jamesbwar
This is a great little pedal! Whether I need to sustain a note or chord while playing/riffing over the chord, and/or using it to hold a note in a live performance, this pedal can do it. It's a seamless sustain pedal that you can't hear when it's turned on or off. This far exceeded my expectations. I currently use this pedal with my bass to hold keyboard notes while playing my bass lines (since our band doesn't have a keyboard player).SLoveland
It's a nice pedal it's like a sustain pedal for the piano but for the guitar. Really fun to use. Been using it on my gigs ever since I got it. Works great for ballads and intros. The only issue is the foot button makes a loud click. Seems that they would have put a silent one in over the loud clicking one. Also wondering why they couldn't have made it more like an actual pedal like a wah or volume pedal… I've never seen one for the guitar so I imagine it has something to do with capturing the sound. But electro-harmonix if you're reading there's an idea for you. I know a lot of guitarists that would love a pedal that you can work like a true sustain pedal.Marco
5. Keeley Compressor Pro Pedal
Product Details:
All i can say is, wow! studio grade compression in a pedal board sized pedal. fantastic sounding and versatile compression and sustain, this pedal is incredible! i have been simplifying my setup and hate to see it go, but i no longer use this pedal. it was always a mainstay on my pedal board. works well as an end signal compression, in the effects loop, or right after the guitar, works well as a great pedal for smoothing out the signal, or as a nice boost/preamp/compression. i have used it in multiple positions and with other compression and eq pedals it works well with other tone shaping pedals. it even plays nice with most fuzz pedals. like i said, since i have been simplifying my rig there are a lot of pedals i no longer use that are just taking up space, i would hate to see this one go but it needs to be enjoyed by others that will use it more than i. used in a smoke free home studio. has velcro on back.

Reviews:
It's just what I've been needing to boost the low register and tame the highest notes on the flute.Ric

Reviews:
If you want some Frippertronics-style sound from your guitar/lapsteel/etc, this TC Aeon works well. It takes a little getting used to knowing where to position it on guitar neck for best results. When it vibrates the strings and the magic happens is worth any efforts to attain maximum string vibration. I tried an actual E-Bow a while ago, and while that might be better, the price point and ease of use of an E-Bow vs. the same basic result with less money, I'd pick the TC Aeon. Maybe even over the E-Bow as time passes!somepe_59
Simple to use. Just open the package, pop in the battery, hit the power button and go. It has a pilot light on the bottom to help you see the strings when lining it up which helps. Works very well. It can get almost violent with the resonance of the string generated by the Aeon. Keep in mind that with any natural harmonic there are some 'dead spots' that just don't resonate but they are quite rare. Good: works well, inexpensive, love the guide light Bad: only has 1 mode (ebow has 2) but not a big dealDaryl
This is so underpowered, you have to touch it on the strings to get it to work, thus creating a bunch of mechanical noise on the guitar. Just get an E-Bow. When I found out that I didn't try mine out in enough time to return it (bought for a recording project), I just smashed it with a hammer. I couldn't sell this to another human and feel good about myself.Dave

Reviews:
I could spend all day yapping about this pedal…In my travels i've tried countless pedals, but got tired of having 'too many' pedals. The weight, the time it took to hook it all up. I also busk, or play where electricity isn't available, and wanted a setup where i could make one trip with everything, and keep the weight down. I've always been a fan of ZOOM products, so trying out the Multistomp series was a no-brainer for me. The 50G met all my requirements, and exceed them all after i got one and started using it. Tones that are as good as any higher priced pedal, the versatility is second to none, and the price is killer for what this pedal can do. I would say the the Bluetooth version was my favorite, then the 70CDR, then the 50G, with the 50G's new 3.0 update, the 50 G is now my favorite pedal…period. The 50G started with maybe 50 patches, now it has 172, and best of all it has the Exciter patch, which to me is required on any pedal board. All i can suggest is watch the countless demo videos of this pedal. I would recommend this pedal for any level of guitarist, i would also recommend the MS-70CDR, watch the demo videos of the 70-CDR vs Strymons…amazing I cant say enough good things about the 50G, i believe it's near the perfect all around pedal. The Multistomp series are easily, in my opinion, the best bang for the buck pedals madeLocorogue
The MS-50G pedal is first class. It is every bit as clean, quiet, and well built as the Boss pedals. It is not a replacement for the Boss line. Zoom pedals have a character of their own. Personally, I like the Zoom tone. But I'm not a guitar player. There is a great ~15 minute YouTube instructional video for the MS-50G. I got over the learning curve for writing and storing effects by watching this video, then I bought pedal. It replaces several pieces of my high quality studio gear when I need fast results that are of high level audio quality. Zoom delivers with this product. After I watched this video I purchased the pedal. I also like my G1X as a companion to this pedal. The G1X has a nice volume/expression pedal.Sean
I needed something for my living room and practicing while watching TV late at night without a full pedal board or multi-effects box. This along with a Boss RC-3 and a mini mixer for my wireless headphones provides everything I have in my studio at a mini level. The sounds are good enough. There are enough options in sound to play most anything. Eventually I'll try this little beast as a sub for my full pedal board and see how it works in a live jam. One pedal to do everything. It's not perfect but it is great. I wish Zoom would provide updates to it and a better manager. It's pretty old by today's standards and if Zoom provided updated files they would sell even more if these great little boxes. B&H had the best deal available and as always they provide excellent service. Thank you B&H. I'll Be Back, lolThomas G

Reviews:
The sound initially blew me away, and i am extremely satisfied with the purchase. At this price point you aren't going to find a better fuzz. I use this pedal for home use only, so i can't comment on how it sounds blasted and live. The build quality appears and feels clean and solid, but i can't comment on durability yet because i've only had this pedal for a month. The good things about it are: it's loud, small, and has a lot of range to make different sounds with. The downsides are that it doesn't have a blend knob, and getting just the right tone is difficult. That being said, there is plenty of room to adjust everything on either side once the tone is found, so you will be able to get what you need eventually. I agree with a previous review, it is nice to have an eq before the pedal to get everything just right.Jimmison
Always looking to get the Santana, David Gilmour, Gary Moore type sustain !!! I have been disapointed with several pedals, mostly being to 'harsh'. In the past, my Mesa DC-5 took care of sustain but now I do most of my playing through a Fender Blues Jr, and a Crate 20w transistor amp. This pedal makes these amps sing !!!!! It takes VERY LITTLE input from the knobs to get a great sound. I started with all settings at 12 o clock and kept dialing back towards 0 to get my awesome sound. There is always room for another pedal, but at least now, I can quit spending money on distortion type pedals that did not give me what I was looking for !!!KamakaziFlyboy
It definitely gets that unique fuzz sound, but it comes with baggage. The tone falls flat for anything below 9 o' clock turn on sustain. So if you want a subtle fuzz without heaps of distortion, your out of luck. It hijacks your tone, which is to an extent expected of a fuzz pedal, but the result is it not playing nice with other pedals. Overall I'd only recommend to someone who absolutely must have a fuzz, but is unwilling to spend more on a higher grade pedal. Its a one trick pony, so it excels at very specific tone, but the tone/sustain knobs are wasted. You can tweak it but it doesn't do much.jd1337
10. Boss Cs-3 Sustain Pedal
Product Details:
Reviews:
This is a great compressor to start out with on Bass or Guitar just to get a feel of what you want out of one. The sustain is kinda meh compared to other compressors. And is very limited in functions. That being said. Once again this is a good starting compressor. I'd definitely go to either the Keeley Compressor, an MXR compressor or a Darkglass Hyper Luminal compressor.Undisclosed
I usually play clean or near-clean through a Fender-ish Carvin SX-100 Combo. Until today, no matter what I did, my thin hollowbody Ibanez AFS-75 always had just a little "crud" in the tone. After reading another review talking about how they used the CS-3, I experimented around and here's what I've done. I've put the CS-3 between the guitar and the amp and run the rest of the effects including EQ through the effects loop setting the CS-3 (from Left to Right) at 1, 1, 10, 11. At these settings, my Flat Wounds have a new sparkle and equal level from string to string. There is no distortion pedal in my effects setup although I do dirty up the signal just a tiny bit using the Carvin Amp Distortion to add just a bit of life to my playing. I'm a Jazz Student (emphasis on student) seeking that organic jazz guitar sound and the CS-3 has improved the tonality and removed the crud. It's actually pretty startling.Ed
I have tediously tried many bass compressor pedals and just couldn't find the one that I was comfortable with. You want a lot of sustain and a nice punchy but squashed signal for most rock or metal. I had been very impressed with the boss cs-3 for my guitar and wondered if there were a bass version. I stumbled accross the bass smasher which is a modified version of the cs-3 and felt very confident it would do what i wanted. It performs beautifully. The only reason i dont give it a five star is because it can still be a little noisy if dial up to high. But if you know how to use noise suppression gear this won't really bother you. I imagine when compressing notes with high sustain its very difficult to get rid of all the noise. Highly recommend for a cheap and easy way to get balanced tone and high sustain. Great job Humphrey Audio keep it up!vesti2090
11. Boss Compressor Guitar Pedal (Cp-1x)
Product Details:
What separates the cp-1x from boss's other compressors is its digital multi-dimensional processing. this intelligent design instantly analyzes the different aspects of your guitar's signal and applies the pedal's effect to each differently, ensuring the pedal performs in the most musical way possible. this also means that the cp-1x remains transparent at any setting. guitarists immediately noticed how quiet this digital processing makes the pedal. definitely a big win. headroom is extremely important in a great compression circuit. that's why boss engineered the cp-1x with an internal voltage pump. what this means is, though you are able to use the standard (optional) boss 9-volt power adapter or 9v battery to power the unit, you'll receive the power needed to handle guitars that other compressors can struggle with. active pickups, extended-range guitars, and acoustic-electric guitars are no problem, thanks to the pedal's 18-volt internal electronics.

This is the perfect pedal for a clean boost. I play clean country, country rock, jazz, rock and roll, rockabilly, etc. and when I need to play lead I kick it in. No volume pedal guessing, just on and off. Only problem is I like it so much that I do not want to turn it off! Great design (with active LED readout while playing) and easy to adjust. Short battery life (3 hours) so be sure to order a 9volt wart or use a power supply. If only using battery power be sure to unplug the input on breaks or when through playing. With the power supply you can leave it plugged in as it disconnects the battery. One big plus, this baby works fantastic on acoustic guitars as well. Just turn the comp setting down below 12 o'clock. Highly recommended!Larryz
The CP1x unlike its predecessors CS1 2 and CS3 tend to typically lose a lot of the highs after the compression and alter the tone which has to be EQd then. The new CS1-X keeps the tone as natural. Also the digitals LEDS to show the signal are a nice touch. Not the mention the usual BOSS rugged metal body and metallic paint and metal look knob and control interface. Truly visually appealing too. Very pleased with my purchase.keithmendes
Compression is often one of those effects that people either swear by or ignore entirely. Some lesser compressors don't seem to do much of anything when you click them on & off but when you're connected to a good compressor, you'll see what all the fuss is about. The CP-1X from Boss is one of the best compressors out there. Dial in the knobs to your liking & listen to your playing come to life. Balanced dynamics, beautiful singing clean tones, enhanced note definition and sustain. You'll wonder how you ever went without one. Try one out. You'll be glad you did.Brandon
12. Jackson Audio Bloom V2 Midi Pedal – Black
Product Details:
This is an amazing pedal. if you need a compressor this pedal has 6 different compressor settings that can all be controlled via midi. the blend control is super useful for dialing in exactly how much of the compressed signal you want. the eq is a 3 band eq with bass, middle, and treble. this is a great tool to use to shape your tone. i used it for when i ran a rig with two guitars so that i never lost any frequencies that i wanted that another guitar may not have had a enough of. the boost or bloom as jackson audio calls it starts at unity gain and goes up from the tiniest boost all the way to a what ll make some amps sound like it had its drive turned to 12. overall a very dynamic and useful pedal.i also have the original box included.

Reviews:
It is the cornerstone of my rig!TK
I have tried a LOT of compressors over the years, never kept any of them (as a solo boost) I can dial in the perfect amount of compression without killing the dynamics of the amp along with a mid boost and slight treble roll off to make my amp sing! I run the gain on the amp about 3 for "clean" and use the Bloom boost with just a little bit of bump to get into fat crunch and then the comp plus eq for solos. All controlled via MIDI Transparent, doesn't jack with my tone. I borrowed a friend's Synergy Syn 1 with the DS module for a week with the intention of buying one.. no more.Charles
Overall: This optical compressor, EQ, and boost pedal is an all around work horse. The optical compression is really smooth and subtle, which I prefer! The presets are nice to dial in different types and they can be tweaked via MIDI if you're looking for that level of tweakability. I found myself setting it the country mode and really only tweaking the blend knob to control the overall sound of the comp. I like that I can keep as much dry signal as I want to retain some of the dynamic while really pushing the compressed frequencies. The boost is a standard clean boost that adds nice clarity and sparkle. Then you have a three band EQ that adds extra flexibility. All three effects can be turned on and off independently of each other and their is a "bloom" mode with the boost where it will swell in if you press and hold. That's a nice little trick but I don't think I'll use it too much since the boost is almost always on. I use this as a table setter for the rest of my rig now. Great choice for anyone looking for studio quality optical compression!Adam

Awesome compressor and overdrive in one housing! The ability to flip a switch to determine effect order and to also tell the pedal which pickups (single coil or humbucker) you're using provides even more flexibility! Aesthetically, this pedal, bought in "mint" condition, has a great look with a sparkle finish;ranrob_4298
I've had several Keeley pedals from overdrive to modulations to compressor. This pedal is I think the best thing Robert Keeley has ever released. You get the best of the Red Dirt Pedal and the 4-knob compressor in one compact unit. I'm so happy I pull the trigger on it. I've owned the Keeley D&M and I think this pedal sounds better.805musician

Reviews:
This is the amazing Boss DS-1 distortion pedal, loved by all who use it. Amazing value at just £55. I won't bore you with stories about how robust it is, because we all know Boss equipment lasts forever. It looks and feels great, but most importantly, sounds incredible. I play punk rock, and with my Gibson SG Special, plugged into my Marshall JCM 900 this delivers exactly the sound I want. I loved that in the manual it gives example sound setting, one of which was British Punk. That just made me smile. I knew instantly it was right up my street. Oh, and if you're into electronics, this thing is made of pin-through-hole components, so it leaves it open for a good bit of modding. There are plenty of guides for that online. Sitting in my Boss BCB-30 pedal board this never fails to make me smile.Thomas B.
Now I don't hate it, but Its not my first go to pedal. I like the more modern BOSS "Metal Core". It is however like all BOSS PEDALS built like a tank, extremely reliable and a great first pedal. For the money, this is a super value. I found that I like it for "Gain Stacking" in combination with the BOSS MD-2"Mega Distortion" and a few other pedals. Even two DS-1 DISTORTION together improve the performance to me. Overall it's not terrible and I see were for some it could really be a price but I lean towards Heavy… Heavy Metal and for that it's more a corvette when you need a Lamborghini. Do I hate it, NO… I actually own two of them.kt.precisio-7
I have a 60w Fender Deville amp. Lovely clean sounds straight from the amp but couldn't really use the overdrive channel without the volume getting to an inconsiderate level at home. This pedal has addressed that issue really well. This pedal now provides me really raunchy distortion while providing a greater control for volume. The pedal also provides a nice boost in changing between a clean channel directly from the amp and then through the pedal. Very pleased with this investment, particularly for the price. Very easy to use.Gregory H.

Let me start off by saying this pedal just arrived today. I've played through it for about an hour. I spent about 30 seconds adjusting the knobs. This thing is killer. It's super easy to dial in. Within 2 minutes I was blown away. It just adds something I didn't even know that I needed. It is currently on sale for and at that price it's a complete no brainer. I wouldn't even be upset if I paid full price. I would have been just as pleased. I have it set as a slight boost with a little compression right before my walrus voyager. It's just an incredible tone machine at a price that is almost laughable. Stop reading my review and buy one NOW! Call up my boy nick Graham and it'll be at your house before the sun goes down. Reviews:
great value; plenty volume on tap; treble and bass very usable; does color tone a bit but in a good thick way; less bass helps clear up the sound a bit. with small toggle switch in down pos perhaps a little more transparent and with toggle up adds a little more girth to the tone. flat response with vol around 1 o'clock, gain at 7 o'clock, bass at around 10 o'clock and treble around 3 o'clock (at least with my circuit…); gain begins to gets very "gainy" adding significant volume at around 10 o'clock and from will continue to increase to an extreme full tone slightly mid scooped distortion. not designed to be a big bumble bee crackly fuzz but like its label states an "overdrive" and will defiantly push your amp into breakup from mild to extreme.baycman
This pedal has gotta be one of the most underrated OD pedals out there…. especially given its price point. I have A,B'd this thing against modded BD-2s, modded OD-3's, and the SD-1W and the Mojomojo is just bigger and less tinty. I dont want it to be, but it is. It is a wonderful sounding OD and is great for OD rhythm sounds. It is in the cranked Marshall class of OD's so not to be confused with the green OD pedal. The only area that some of my modded ODs beat it in is sustain. It does tail off on lead stuff sooner than some more expensive pedals. That is the only area that it doesn't win though. You can also use this as an always on boost as well. All in all this thing always seems to knock more expensive pedals off my board time and time again. Highly recommend this pedal and at it's price point it should be in all OD aficionados collection.KL
I use the MojoMojo on my Fender G-DEC Junior and it helps to make the amp sound warmer, richer and fuller. The MojoMojo when dialed in right adds a very slight and suttle low mid thickness, hard to explain. I find its not a "set it and forget it" type of pedal (i.e. Tube screamer), for each amp setting I have to dial it in or it will sound muddy but with a little tweaking between the amp settings and the pedal settings (usually level settings rather than tone knobs) I can get them matched tonally and sonically, bass tone knob is usually set pretty low. I use low output humbuckers and it works great with these. I can get nice overdrive without changing the amps overall characteristic sound.

I've had this pedal for about maybe 5 months, great pedal. The best thing to do is to always read your manual because this particular pedal shuts off. That feature is to save you battery power, or just being on too long when you walk away. I hadn't gotten use to that at first. It pays to read the manual to figure out how to do it. But the Selections in where the layout is for the different tones, for rock and roll, blues, heavy metal, and R&B is it great pedal.astringmusic
It' easy to blow an afternoon exploring the wide variety of sounds this pedal can produce. While many of the effects are great there are quite a few duds mixed in there. You just have to play. There doesn't seem to be that much logic as to how the effects are grouped. You really need to write down your favorites. Out of 100 effects I think almost anyone can find 20 that they really like. Great pedal for the money.Lenny G.
The Stomplab has some very good patches right out of the box better than most MultiFX units. I rarely get to say that. Since I like to try them all, I think it excels in areas that can outdo expensive pedals. The amps sound really realistic and have beefy snappy mids right in your face with great projection and pop. The tones are designed to sound good as you play with EQ settings the amps seem to stay in the zone of what you would expect an actual amp would do. The best way to really experience this is to plug into a Hi Fidelity home stereo etc. and listen to how detailed the mix is. There is a Tube Screamer that seems to actually enhance just about every amp you try it with when trying to get some edge. The clean amps are some of the best out of the box tube gain style sparkling U2 like rhythms with clearly defined picking separation. This is probably about as good as it gets for these type sounds. Very metal like ballading with chorus and delay. Def Leppard Bringing on the Heartache or Photagraph come off terrific. The crunch sounds are very realistic and the US Hi Gain is about as good as it gets for 80s Metal. I can compare this to the VT Plus series because I have it. This pedal sounds good and really excels with a Tube amp. The VT Plus is a tube hybrid and the 12ax7 single tube does add a touch of edge as it is cranked but the pedal is the same Engine and the edge is subtle and the Tube Screamer SIM sounds close. Any sound can be had and it records from the line out with very good definition. Most of the amp sims are very good with little tweaking and I think it has the most good amp Sims of any other multi fx unit. Has way more variables than the VT Plus amp series and it is one of my favorites for downright realistic amp sounds. Hard to believe it but, it stacks up well against the bigger floorboards in respect to tone alone. More controls on the bigger units sometimes can take you too far off base. It really is well designed and keeps you sounding good.

Pay no attention to negative reviews out there. This pedal is the one to get if you own a Yamaha Keyboard. If you own a Casio or Korg, check the polarity requirements first before purchasing! A lot of people that have given bad reviews on this product were simply a case of buying a product without researching it properly first! The build quality is excellent, and I am sure it will last much longer than my past 3 Proline PSS2 Sustain Pedals that all quit working in only 14 months. The response and feel is like that of a pedal on a grand piano. Not to rigid, not too soft, not too bouncy(like many other 3rd party pedals out there). Again this pedal is NOT switchable so please check your keyboard/piano manual before buying!Juniors234
This unit is bloody brilliant! Works with everything! If I had any complaint it would only be that it doesn't come with any instructions, and there are likewise none on the company website. But I was born to Google, and I soon found a video on how to set it up with my Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol S88 Mk2 keyboard, and with the correct MIDI setting for SUSTAIN (64). It works with all my Spitfire Audio stuff, my KOMPLETE 13 stuff, DAWs (Ableton, Bitwig), you name it. It's awesome and robust. And if you choose different MIDI numbers, you can have the pedal control different things, just as a switch, but some use it as a kick drum! It's great! 🙂Adrian B.
I bought this just before going into the studio for a rehearsal. I plugged it in and realized that the polarity was reversed; the sustain was in effect when not pressing the pedal, and would stop when pressing the pedal. I inspected the pedal for a physical polarity switch. Finding nothing, I did a quick scan of the documentation. After not finding anything there, I did a quick google search and learned that there is no way to switch the polarity on the pedal itself, so tried various methods to switch the polarity. Unfortunately, none of them worked. I wasted a good 30 minutes of studio time trying to get this pedal to work with my keyboard before ultimately giving up. Fortunately, I was able to borrow a pedal with a physical polarity switch on it for the rest of the session. The lack of functionality was a real disappointment. I really liked the physical quality of the Yamaha pedal. The action on the pedal was very responsive. Before recommending this pedal; however, I would warn any future purchasers to do a search to see if it works with their particular brand of keyboard.Craig

As Julius Cesar said when crossing the Rubicon: "The die has been cast". I am an avid pedal enthusiast, as my 42 pedal pedalboard will attest; and I have had a few flangers before, but ABSOLUTELY NOTHING compares to Josh's flanger. I could add to this review but it will not do anything for you: JUST BUY IT! YOU NEED IT! THERE'S NO OTHER FLANGER LIKE IT! YOU'LL REGRET NOT HAVING THIS CLASSIC IN YOUR COLLECTION A FEW YEARS FROM NOW. Trust me, I'm a Doctor.
I can get this pedal to do three things: a very subtle reverb that adds a touch of space, a room-like reverb, and a super long-tailed ambient reverb that's so expansive it almost sounds like it's mixed with delay. There are other reverb pedals for a bit more money that have more options built into them-spring, plate, hall, room, shimmer, modulated reverb, and so on. With this pedal I find it difficult to switch between the different sounds since it's a lot of knob fiddling. It does sound absolutely killer, which is why I gave it 4 stars, but I don't recommend it if you want to easily switch between different types of reverb. For me it will be more of a "set and forget" pedal for long ambient reverbs.Andrew
I was recently using one pedal board for all my guitars, and the chorus I had was mainly designed for use with acoustic guitar. Now I'm rearranging things to have one board just for my electric guitars and all I needed was a basic chorus pedal of quality build and tone. I knew from reviews the JHS 3 series was perfect for me. I've been playing for 57 years and have owned pedals in the $100 to $500 range to provide my chorus effects. No matter if I had mulitple options in some stomp boxes I usually settled on a good subtle setting, so I knew there was no need for me to get anything fancier than the JHS. It sounds are good as the little blue Boss Chorus I bought way back in 1980.Jon
