So – a few things here. I've bought a couple of these all at GC over the past several years. While it does have "pitch shifting" I don't really think that's where these shine. As indicated in the name the "harmony" function covers so much ground and offers a lot of killer sounds and flexibility. Also, and this is big: the "detune" function is really top notch. Used to be a time where you could only get this type of "detune" thing out of rack gear. Being able to get direct about "cents" as well as the balance of clean and effected signal really is amazing. It's not like turning on a cheap nasty chorus pedal – you can get really subtle and sophisticated with it. To me the detune function is worth the price alone. I plan on grabbing a third one for my new board as pitch shifting, detune, and harmony in one pedal really can't be beat.Jin J. X
I decided to go with this lens after owning my previous Nikon f2.8 telephoto zoom lens basically because it is way lighter and more portable and I found myself usually struggling to take my f2.8 zoom with me just because it was huge and super heavy. Moreover I also found out that I was only rarely actually using the lens at f2.8 but mostly at f5.6 to f11 and sometimes at f4, so no big reason to carry the extra weight of a f2.8 one. The f4 aperture can still blur enough the backgrounds. Besides when I want fast apertures I always prefer my faster primes. And finally IS adds a very nice bonus to that for when you need to shoot at lower light or just be sure that you won't end up with a shaky image even by using medium shutter speeds like 1/250 for instance that can stiil be shaky especially at the longer end of the lens. The Canon EF 70-200mm f4L IS USM is a great option at an affordable price. I think it is a good upgrade to the original non IS version and a good alternative to the bigger f2.8 ones. I find the lens super sharp across the image at every aperture, super fast focusing and the IS is performing quite well. Being an L lens also means it is very well made and with weather sealing. I highly recommend this lens to anyone who doesn't really need f2.8 for action shoots and anyone that wants to carry this lens around without having second thoughts about it. By getting this lens you are not sacrificing any of the optical performance compared to the f2.8 lenses. You get the same lens only smaller and way lighter. It also works amazingly well with both Canon DSLRs and mirrorless cameras.georgeworst
Wow!!! Just Wow!!! I have had this for a few weeks now and i can't stop playing with it. There is a lot packed into this little effect and you really need to spend some time getting to learn all the little nuances of the pedal. I'm still finding new things with it. Individual effects can change drastically depending on the guitar used and the pickup/volume/tone control settings so you really need to experiment. It's very versatile. For an interesting use try running each output through it's own set of effects and amp. It truly sounds like two individual guitarists rather than one person playing through a single pedal. Having an Expression pedal input adds a lot to this already great pedal as well. Playing at moderately fast to fast speeds creates some tracking/latency problems. I found a few other minor annoyances but there is not enough space here to list them in detail. All in all this is a nice little addition to any pedal board and I would recommend it.Jim9k

I've read other reviews and I understand why a lot of people gave this pedal a poor one. If a pedal says it can do 3 things, it should. Unfortunately, that's not the case. However… it does do ONE thing really, really well. If you're looking for a Chorus effect, the "detune" setting is better than any other Chorus I've tried. I even put it up against the Boss PS-6 and the Mooer sounded better. The Boss sounds very digital and thin. The Mooer sounds analog, rich and fat. I can hear a lot more definition on each string. I'm SUPER picky about sound so this pedal really shocked me for the "detune" setting. I agree the other settings are total garbage so I don't use it for anything else.Kova
I've had the Pitchbox for a few months now and really like it. My review is actually a 4.5 star review, but since you can't do that, I had to put 4. The only thing that takes off the half is the cons I listed above, but they're all minor/reasonable. It does have a little learning curve so you can see what each interval sounds like and how to get the sounds you want. It does glitch every so often, but that happens to any octave effect. I'm still awaiting a perfectly polyphonic octave effect, but I digress. And lastly, EXP capabilities would truly make this a 5 star pedal, but I know that it's a ridiculous request for this type of pedal. This is a SMALL pedal. And that's what I love about it. My pedalboard welcomes it, it sounds very good, the tracking is pretty darn great, and its one of the cheapest pedals of this particular effect. Great pedal, will be looking into more Mooers!NSIL
Not a horrible product IMO. The detune gives a nice chorus effect. I thought the pitch shift was great for dropping or raising your tuning with ease. If those two things were all I wanted it for, I would've kept it. However, I bought mainly it for the Harmony function. Not so great there. Most of the time you feel like there is another guitarist with you that just can't keep his guitar in tune…very annoying. I wanted the Boston, Thin Lizzy, Saxon harmony sound. This pedal won't quite do that like I thought it would, so I decided to return this and go with an intelligent harmony instead by ordering a Boss PS-6. Should've just done that in the first place.MC

Using this for about a year now at live gigs and couldn't be happier. It follows guitar/keyboard very well. Does not sound "robotic" like some of the others. I like the fact that the button is quiet when turning vocals on/off. So , if you're recording in a studio or playing a small venue where the audience is close and listening, like a house concert, coffee shop, small club, and want to record your performance, you don't that distracting annoying unprofessional "click" going on. A light comes on when vocals are activated , and goes off when no vocals. Glance down to see if it's on or off. EASY ! ! ! Most times , folks are wondering where the back up vocals are coming from since they assume the pedal must be for the guitar. I use it with the batteries when Busking . It's light , easy to hook up, easy to use, built like a tank, nothing to program, always works, and very affordable. It took a while to get this pedal to work well enough to perform for an audience. I use the guitar signal to tune the harmonies and sometimes the harmony quality would vary depending upon which guitar I used and the volume of the guitar. Also the signal coming from the H-1 to my guitar amp would sometimes color the magnetic signal. I solved this by installing a Fishman Power bridge and a stereo jack on my guitar. I use a stereo guitar cord, Now the H-1 gets a constant signal from the Powerbridge and I have a clean magnetic signal to my guitar amp. Works great now. Down side is you have to watch the selector switches. They seem to move by themselves and can throw off the harmonies.Ozzie
Used for the first time at a gig over the weekend. Only had two practice sessions to experiment before taking it out, but it performed well. Like any effect, the user needs to be diligent not to overdo it. For some songs, it is awesome. For others, it just sounded weird and I bypassed it immediately. For example, great for Eagles…not so much for Black Keys. Best thing it provides is a boost of confidence for this mediocre singer. I feel like I can belt it out a bit more now with my "backup" singers behind me. Overall great value for the price, and highly recommended. I WAS very excited to get this product to replace my aging Akai Duobuddy… I like the small size, price and that it would determine that harmony I needed by the chord I played on my guitar… I was getting tired of dancing around my old pedal to tap out the key I needed. I also didn't need any of the bells and whistles that come on the more expensive units (reverb, effect, etc.), so this seemed perfect. Unfortunatly the harmonies when used with the guitar plugged in jumped, yodeled and sounded completely unnatural. It was a little better when you'd dial in the key on the rotary knob, but having to bend over and manually change keys defeats the whole purpose of a simple pedal. Also I have dealt with TC's service deptartment in the past for my first generation VoiceLive and they were extremely slow (2 months to repair) and my original unit stopped working again within a month of getting it back… not very well built for a unit that originally cost eight hundred clams. This unit seems tough, but sound wise it doesn't even come close to my 15 year old Akai DuoBuddy.Big Casino

Overall: Finally got another Whammy V after missing my prior one in a "stupid-sell all-great new multi unit dumb idea". Not sure what to say about this pedal as it would seem of the many vids I have seen on it, I cast doubt if anyone really can understand how to use it without having one for a time. I constantly hear this "weeeeoooo" thing and really that might be of use now and then but what nails this pedal for me is the harmonizer mode section. 8va's and 4ths,5ths, utterly amazing. This is not so much a moving the pedal thing as everyone seems to want to do. Most of th etime mine is parked up or dwn for a specific harmony or maybe a sweep of low to high octave, play a version of Dazed and Confused using this and you may just never be the same. The lowered 5th harmonizer mode on this puppy is probably one of the best all time tones I have ever had the pleasure of playing. A harmonizer, with no set key or scale restriction, polyphonic tracking, true bypass, I'd pay more just for that. The DT model is cool but I am not really doing step tuning variants. Anyway, this pedal is sooooo much better than what you will hear being done on typical vids. Mastering this puppy will afford you a range of really cool tone possibilities nothing else can muster. Those who hate this pedal suffer from the terrible videos of it or the old models that glitch and burble from only being monophonic tracking. I love how certain players use this pedal. Bucketed is the absolute master of the Digitech Whammy. I like Buckethead and got a whammy to try for myself. The only time I actually use it during performance as a ad-lib bit. The problem is that when its engaged it sucks the life out of your tone. Its like going from an all tube amp to using an iRig to play your guitar through your cell phones speakers. The effects are crazy awesome though. People that don't know gear that hear you play, bug out when they are trying to figure out how in the world you are getting those crazy sounds. The pedal needs recalibrate all the time. For no reason, even when you have the pedal on heel down, when you engage the unit the pitch will shift. The dive bomb effects are crazy for weird rumbling effects. Bought this in a heartbeat to replace my Digitech Whammy IV, which is a fantastic pedal but lacks the sound quality and additional features of this latest version: the Whammy V. For the uninitiated: The Digitech Whammy is a versatile pitch-shifting, harmonizer, octave, drop-tune, and chorus pedal used extensively by at least one of your favorite pro guitarists: Johnny Greenwood, Tom Morello, Jack White, Matt Bellamy, Buckethead, and countless others. I use it not just to replicate parts of their songs–Johnny's +2-octave riff in "Just", the solo in "Like a Stone", the "bass" line in "Seven Nation Army"–but in plenty of my own songs, both live and in the studio. The construction is solid and designed for both touring and in-studio use–durable but not too heavy, big but not obnoxious. Next, the upgrades: This new Whammy comes with two huge improvements. The first is true-bypass switching. Previous models are well known for being tone-sucking beasts, and although there is still a noticeable change in your sound when this latest version is on, when it's off it's off. The other massive upgrade is polyphonic tracking while pitch-shifting, which means it can shift entire chords up or down without sounding glitchy or garbled (e.g., "My Iron Lung"). For people who like that glitchy Whammy IV sound and want the option to use it, there's now a Classic/Chords switch which lets you do just that. On the cosmetic side, Digitech renamed a few modes, reorganized the layout, and brought back the Whammy logo on the expression pedal. All of these upgrades are godsends for long-time users. This might just be a little early, as I am still dialing it in. I actually used it onstage to good effect with little practice, and had to explain to a couple of people on breaks where the other voices were coming from. My reservations are due to the fact that it seems that I can overload the mic more easily than before, and the tone settings have changed fairly drastically. I had to cut the treble 3 numbers, and increase the bass by 2. I have put a foam screen on the mic so I don't get into it and overload the signal. One other thing. I have an AKG 1000 through a Fishman 220 tower. I was not clear on the phantom power always being on in the Harmonizer, and left the phantom power on in the amp. I'm hoping I didn't damage the mic and causing the tone and overload problems. The instructions could be clearer on this subject. All in all, the pedal is fast and immediately intuitive. It's fun to hold a note while changing chords, and listen to the harmonies shift accordingly. Singing in falsetto puts the third above into the stratosphere. Pretty darn cool. Do check out the Play Acoustic before purchasing this device. For not much more money you can get a whole raft of effects for voice and guitar, as well as a looper. The TC Helicon Harmony Singer is fantastic – I can do a solo gig with my keyboard and have great, velvety tones with my voice and a couple of great harmony singers. (They sing beautifully, never fight with each other and I don't have to pay them for each gig.) This is a technically easy product to set up and with a little practice it rewards you back with so much good sounds. (It really makes heads turn when those vocals kick in 🙂 The one problem I have had is with the foot button. Mine only lasted 7 concerts before malfunctioning. I could still get the reverb and I could get the harmonies IF I KEPT MY FOOT ON THE BUTTON. (A little awkward and rather uncomfortable for the "boys" in the band when you are playing keyboard with your knees together…..if you catch my meaning.) BUT the techies at TC Helicon are going to fix it since it is still under warranty. (If this becomes a continual problem, then I will be sad and lower their rating. So I will keep you posted. The first pedal I received from Sweetwater did not power on when I inserted four AA batteries, so I returned it and bought one from Guitar Center, after testing it out in the store. I am now using it with rechargeable batteries, practicing for a possible venture busking in the future. I think it's important to get the balance of harmony to root vocal right. Too much sounds bad, and accentuates any vocal wobbles in your root vocal. I keep the balance set at 12 noon or 11 o'clock. So far I've just used the "lower" harmony settings – 7 and 8 "o'clock", with not too much reverb. The upper harmonies (10 and 2 o'clock) can get a bit screachy and scary. Overall a clever, fun product, which I am sure will enhance and expand my music endeavors.bobbiek2009

I perform solo at nursing homes and senior citizen events. I usually do an hour, sometimes up to an hour and a half, in small to medium size rooms. My voice is kind of thin on its own. The VE-2 improves it a lot. It's not perfect but it helps me a lot. I I use a touch of reverb at all times, and vary the harmonies from song to song (and within a song by switching them on/off). The controls are small (of course — it's a small unit) but I found it easy to use. The battery life is great. Practicing at home for a half-hour a day, the batteries last for a couple weeks. I use rechargeables; I don't know if regulars would be longer or shorter. It's not cheap but it's in the range of competitors' comparable units. Well worth the money to me.Jim
I lead worship services on guitar and have 20 years as a professional classical singer. Because I occasionally lead a service by myself, I thought this might be a useful tool for adding some richness to a song. I found on simple, single-key pieces, it chose well about 85% of the time, which is probably fine. If the piece was more complicated, it would often scramble and choose a sour note, or just struggle to stay in tune, singing the minor third in a major triad, for example. It also seems to think singing the flat seventh of any chord is a reasonable choice, and sometimes it isn't. If you're a singer-songwriter doing mostly three- and four-chord songs where it's more about the writing than anything else, this could be a very cool piece of equipment in your arsenal. If you're looking for spot-on perfection in performance, this isn't worth it. You won't be happy and it won't do what you want it to do. If you're considering using this in a band context, stop considering that immediately :). The natural differences between tuning for multiple instruments will just make any mistake the box makes harsher and will ruin whatever you're trying to do. That said, there's probably a performance art piece or experimental use for it by plugging in an electric guitar but not amping it and telling the box you're singing one thing, then having it try to harmonize with you. I like this unit. It offers really good vocal processing in a nice little stomp box. It's extremely simple to use and the tone choices are excellent. With a relatively wide range of options you are bound to find a setting in your range. I own two of these. One to gig with and one for my home studio. I have been able to create some pretty natural sounding vocals with minimal tweaking. Save your user presets and be ready wherever you take it. A friend of mine is a professional singer, at a gig one night he asked for some reverb when he was singing, I could not get it to work. The PitchFactor does a lot. I own a Modfactor, Pitchfactor and Time-factor for years and countless many other effects pedals, Moog, Strymon, Boss, including TC GSystem and new Helix floor. Eventide pedals are in a league of their own. I keep coming back to them. Not user friendly but they sound phenomenal and they are built like bricks.
The future HAS arrived. Finally, a pedal-board Harmonizer! Unbelievably, Eventide has done it again! Packed with essential effects, useful features, MIDI, a logical knob-based interface and effortless USB upgradeability, to say the new PitchFactor ROCKS is an understatement! This stompbox literally encompasses the history of the Harmonizer, enabling an encyclopedia of pitch-shifting effects utilizing ten flexible algorithims. A stereo/mono device, input and output levels are switchable (line/inst, line/amp), with an additional programmable sensitivity adjustment for guitar, bass or synths. Virtually every parameter is programmable and accessible through MIDI, and you can connect any normal expression pedal (passive or control-voltage) for even more programmable real-time control (I use a Roland EV-5 with excellent results). So – a few things here. I've bought a couple of these all at GC over the past several years. While it does have "pitch shifting" I don't really think that's where these shine. As indicated in the name the "harmony" function covers so much ground and offers a lot of killer sounds and flexibility. Also, and this is big: the "detune" function is really top notch. Used to be a time where you could only get this type of "detune" thing out of rack gear. Being able to get direct about "cents" as well as the balance of clean and effected signal really is amazing. It's not like turning on a cheap nasty chorus pedal – you can get really subtle and sophisticated with it. To me the detune function is worth the price alone. I plan on grabbing a third one for my new board as pitch shifting, detune, and harmony in one pedal really can't be beat.Jin J. X
I decided to go with this lens after owning my previous Nikon f2.8 telephoto zoom lens basically because it is way lighter and more portable and I found myself usually struggling to take my f2.8 zoom with me just because it was huge and super heavy. Moreover I also found out that I was only rarely actually using the lens at f2.8 but mostly at f5.6 to f11 and sometimes at f4, so no big reason to carry the extra weight of a f2.8 one. The f4 aperture can still blur enough the backgrounds. Besides when I want fast apertures I always prefer my faster primes. And finally IS adds a very nice bonus to that for when you need to shoot at lower light or just be sure that you won't end up with a shaky image even by using medium shutter speeds like 1/250 for instance that can stiil be shaky especially at the longer end of the lens. The Canon EF 70-200mm f4L IS USM is a great option at an affordable price. I think it is a good upgrade to the original non IS version and a good alternative to the bigger f2.8 ones. I find the lens super sharp across the image at every aperture, super fast focusing and the IS is performing quite well. Being an L lens also means it is very well made and with weather sealing. I highly recommend this lens to anyone who doesn't really need f2.8 for action shoots and anyone that wants to carry this lens around without having second thoughts about it. By getting this lens you are not sacrificing any of the optical performance compared to the f2.8 lenses. You get the same lens only smaller and way lighter. It also works amazingly well with both Canon DSLRs and mirrorless cameras.georgeworst
Wow!!! Just Wow!!! I have had this for a few weeks now and i can't stop playing with it. There is a lot packed into this little effect and you really need to spend some time getting to learn all the little nuances of the pedal. I'm still finding new things with it. Individual effects can change drastically depending on the guitar used and the pickup/volume/tone control settings so you really need to experiment. It's very versatile. For an interesting use try running each output through it's own set of effects and amp. It truly sounds like two individual guitarists rather than one person playing through a single pedal. Having an Expression pedal input adds a lot to this already great pedal as well. Playing at moderately fast to fast speeds creates some tracking/latency problems. I found a few other minor annoyances but there is not enough space here to list them in detail. All in all this is a nice little addition to any pedal board and I would recommend it.Jim9k

It took a while to get this pedal to work well enough to perform for an audience. I use the guitar signal to tune the harmonies and sometimes the harmony quality would vary depending upon which guitar I used and the volume of the guitar. Also the signal coming from the H-1 to my guitar amp would sometimes color the magnetic signal. I solved this by installing a Fishman Power bridge and a stereo jack on my guitar. I use a stereo guitar cord, Now the H-1 gets a constant signal from the Powerbridge and I have a clean magnetic signal to my guitar amp. Works great now. Down side is you have to watch the selector switches. They seem to move by themselves and can throw off the harmonies.Ozzie
Used for the first time at a gig over the weekend. Only had two practice sessions to experiment before taking it out, but it performed well. Like any effect, the user needs to be diligent not to overdo it. For some songs, it is awesome. For others, it just sounded weird and I bypassed it immediately. For example, great for Eagles…not so much for Black Keys. Best thing it provides is a boost of confidence for this mediocre singer. I feel like I can belt it out a bit more now with my "backup" singers behind me. Overall great value for the price, and highly recommended. I WAS very excited to get this product to replace my aging Akai Duobuddy… I like the small size, price and that it would determine that harmony I needed by the chord I played on my guitar… I was getting tired of dancing around my old pedal to tap out the key I needed. I also didn't need any of the bells and whistles that come on the more expensive units (reverb, effect, etc.), so this seemed perfect. Unfortunatly the harmonies when used with the guitar plugged in jumped, yodeled and sounded completely unnatural. It was a little better when you'd dial in the key on the rotary knob, but having to bend over and manually change keys defeats the whole purpose of a simple pedal. Also I have dealt with TC's service deptartment in the past for my first generation VoiceLive and they were extremely slow (2 months to repair) and my original unit stopped working again within a month of getting it back… not very well built for a unit that originally cost eight hundred clams. I was looking for a chorus pedal with a similar sound to 80s bands like The Cocteau Twins and The Cure. Wow, the Boss CE-5 is just what I needed! It has a really transparent sound, a lush ethereal shimmer. Its a lot more subtle than many chorus pedals, and thats just what I like. Its one of those pedals you might forget its on until you turn it off. But why bother turning it off, I pretty much leave it on all the time. It sounds divine with delay and reverb pedals and adds another dimension to fuzz pedals. The stereo out is really nice. One output is dry, and the other effected. I wasnt sure how that would sound before I got the pedal, but believe me; the sound from a split stereo cab or two amps is amazing! It basically causes the wet and dry signals to blend out in the room, rather than mix them together and run through one speaker like most chorus effects. It makes a huge 3d kind of sound that must be heard to be believed. The Boss CE-5 nails that 80s alternative sound. Im never getting rid of this pedal.eccentricwhim
This is a more subtle chorus, giving your sound a more nuanced breadth. It won't give you a warble if that's an option you want. Sounds heavenly with clean tones – adds a sort of crystal presence without high-end shimmer – soft, gentle waves lapping at the shore on a warm, summer day. The only thing I don't like about it is that the stereo outs are entirely too close together. You won't get some patch cables in both outputs. I could spend all day yapping about this pedal…In my travels i've tried countless pedals, but got tired of having 'too many' pedals. The weight, the time it took to hook it all up. I also busk, or play where electricity isn't available, and wanted a setup where i could make one trip with everything, and keep the weight down. I've always been a fan of ZOOM products, so trying out the Multistomp series was a no-brainer for me. The 50G met all my requirements, and exceed them all after i got one and started using it. Tones that are as good as any higher priced pedal, the versatility is second to none, and the price is killer for what this pedal can do. I would say the the Bluetooth version was my favorite, then the 70CDR, then the 50G, with the 50G's new 3.0 update, the 50 G is now my favorite pedal…period. The 50G started with maybe 50 patches, now it has 172, and best of all it has the Exciter patch, which to me is required on any pedal board. All i can suggest is watch the countless demo videos of this pedal. I would recommend this pedal for any level of guitarist, i would also recommend the MS-70CDR, watch the demo videos of the 70-CDR vs Strymons…amazing I cant say enough good things about the 50G, i believe it's near the perfect all around pedal. The MS-50G pedal is first class. It is every bit as clean, quiet, and well built as the Boss pedals. It is not a replacement for the Boss line. Zoom pedals have a character of their own. Personally, I like the Zoom tone. But I'm not a guitar player. There is a great ~15 minute YouTube instructional video for the MS-50G. I got over the learning curve for writing and storing effects by watching this video, then I bought pedal. It replaces several pieces of my high quality studio gear when I need fast results that are of high level audio quality. Zoom delivers with this product. After I watched this video I purchased the pedal. I also like my G1X as a companion to this pedal. The G1X has a nice volume/expression pedal.Sean
I needed something for my living room and practicing while watching TV late at night without a full pedal board or multi-effects box. This along with a Boss RC-3 and a mini mixer for my wireless headphones provides everything I have in my studio at a mini level. The sounds are good enough. There are enough options in sound to play most anything. Eventually I'll try this little beast as a sub for my full pedal board and see how it works in a live jam. One pedal to do everything. It's not perfect but it is great. I wish Zoom would provide updates to it and a better manager. It's pretty old by today's standards and if Zoom provided updated files they would sell even more if these great little boxes. This is going to be a marmite product – if you only plays Chicago blues you are going to struggle to find a use. However if you enjoy playing many other styles, it adds to your tone pallet. Gut feeling is it will take practice to get more than swoop up/down Morello impersonations- it's like a new instrument at my feet. As pitch shifters go it has impeccable tracking and wealth of features. It covers several other Digitech products in one rather large red box – going to need a bigger pedal board. One feature is the warbleless chorus. All that richness without the whooshing. Another feature is the fixed pitch shifting which lets it be used as a virtual capo. I use this only sparingly, but it is so awesome to be able to transpose my guitar a half step up or a half step down in seconds to play songs in the key our singer requests while keeping proper fingering and not needing addtional, alternately tuned guitars. Does an awesome job tracking, but again, I only go a half step up or down, so the sound quality is still really good….sure beats the hassle of bringing several guitars and having to switch. We tune a half step down, and I use it for this purpose on few of the songs we perform at gigs. I have this first in line, right after my guitar, so it works extremely well for whammy and drop/raise tuning applications, but since it is not in an effects loop, the harmony option doesn't sound good. I run this into the front of my Soldano SLO100. I also love the whammy side on rare occasion, to throw in a wild noise ,,,or if I'm ever asked to play any Rage Against the Machine songs. Again, I use it very rarely/sparingly, but I highly recommend and I love having it on my board for when I do use it.Al
This pedal is terrific. Very easy to learn and intuitive. It has two sides: on the left, you have your whammy/harmony effects, with some nice chorus-y sounding detune effects thrown in for good measure. On the right, you have your detune effects where you can go up or down seven semitones, or a full octave higher or lower, with or without dry signal. This means you can instantly take your standard tuned guitar down to C, or B, or hell, even A if you're TRVLY CVLT. You can play an octave lower with dry signal and voila, you now have a bassline running underneath your guitar. I bought this pedal because I love whammy effects, and originally was going to buy the Whammy 5, but this is that pedal PLUS the detune effects. This is especially useful with Floyd Rose or other floating bridge guitars. We all know what a pain in the @$$ those things are to tune.kdbrown777

This is a boss ce-5 chorus pedal, designed in the heritage of the ce's 1-3. this is from 1992, the first year of production. the original ce-5's were analog and used the same effect ic's as the ce-3. the analog version can be "tricked" into sounding like an interesting vibrato pedal – the switch cuts out the feedback circuit, which is essentially what is the difference between a chorus and vibe effect. you can dial in some sweet vibe tones, as well as some extreme sounds. very cool. i use a low-profile switch to go between the two sounds. it is immune to accidental break-offs! it's like getting two completely unique pedals in one. vibe effect works when using the "a" output jack.

I was looking for a chorus pedal with a similar sound to 80s bands like The Cocteau Twins and The Cure. Wow, the Boss CE-5 is just what I needed! It has a really transparent sound, a lush ethereal shimmer. Its a lot more subtle than many chorus pedals, and thats just what I like. Its one of those pedals you might forget its on until you turn it off. But why bother turning it off, I pretty much leave it on all the time. It sounds divine with delay and reverb pedals and adds another dimension to fuzz pedals. The stereo out is really nice. One output is dry, and the other effected. I wasnt sure how that would sound before I got the pedal, but believe me; the sound from a split stereo cab or two amps is amazing! It basically causes the wet and dry signals to blend out in the room, rather than mix them together and run through one speaker like most chorus effects. It makes a huge 3d kind of sound that must be heard to be believed. The Boss CE-5 nails that 80s alternative sound. Im never getting rid of this pedal.eccentricwhim
This is a more subtle chorus, giving your sound a more nuanced breadth. It won't give you a warble if that's an option you want. Sounds heavenly with clean tones – adds a sort of crystal presence without high-end shimmer – soft, gentle waves lapping at the shore on a warm, summer day. The only thing I don't like about it is that the stereo outs are entirely too close together. You won't get some patch cables in both outputs. Was wanting a chorus for my bass. The filter knobs work great for that. If you set the rate low and depth high. You get iconic flanging drone sounds. It's a boss pedal so has all of the great features all boss pedals have. I expect it to be around longer than I will. 10/10Unsubmitted

Sounds great. Also surprising versatility with the HP/LP settings. One criticism is that its very loud. Slotting in after 2 boosts and an OD, then before a fuzz has played havoc with my gain structure as, with those other pedals operating within normal vol ranges, I've found the volume on the OCD needs to be most of the way down when using drive greater than 12-o-clock which is even more noticeable on the HP setting. Btw, that's into a highish headroom amp so if you were using the OCD to further drive an already breaking up amp into much more compression then probably not that great an issueReviewed by Andertons Music Co.
I needed something to stack along side of my TS that did not overpower the sound of the other pedal or sound too thick on its own. This pedal sounds fantastic with single coil pickups and pairs extremely well with other OD pedals. I like the fact it can run on either battery, 9V, or 18V AC connections, making this a great choice if you have limited ports on your power supply. On its own, it stands out very well when dialing up the drive settings and it sounds absolutely great coming through a properly dimed tube amplifier. It is no coincidence you see these pedals on the boards of many great professional players… This box just has excellent tone and all their products are handmade in the USA with plenty of care involved–making them a quality purchase. I am looking at collecting a couple of other earlier versions as some have tonal differences that work better with other set ups. Overall very satisfied with this purchase.built_for_speed
I've owned the Fulltone OCD for just over a week now and I can confidently say it's the best overdrive effects pedal I've ever had the pleasure of using. It has a sturdy build, it's versatile, it retains the original tone and colour of your guitar/amp combo and it's LOUD! I wanted a pedal that would fit compliment my '65 Twin Reverb Reissue amp and Telecaster, I love the tone of my setup but I really needed some bite in the shape of a good overdrive. After doing some research and seeing the name Fulltone OCD pop up again and again I started to get very curious about this pedal, the clincher was when I saw it on the pedal board of a guitarist on youtube who was showing off some of my favourite licks! Overall: I play ambient, experimental, and also conventional music, and the H9 fits the bill perfectly for me. I split my guitar signal after a compressor between an amp sim (atomic Amplifire) and an SY-300 synthesizer, and the H9 now goes after the amp sim and is the ideal stereo audio companion to the SY-300 sound in my live stereo setup mix. I hooked in my expression pedal and it is very useful by default. But what really makes it convenient is the phone/tablet app. Excellent software and very easy to use. I set my phone in a holder on a mic stand and choose presets or adjust the device remotely with a touch through the bluetooth connection. No need to touch the pedal at all! Adjusting everything is easy with the app. I was clearly guided through the software installation and hardware updating procedure by the install process as well. Value is a notch off only because it is rather expensive. The one possible drawback is the fact it's one effect at a time, despite the wide raging choice of effects. For me this is no problem. The Amplifire and SY-300 both have good effects and I have a Obscura delay in my chain if I need to layer effects. I needed something to set off my conventional guitar signal chain, and this is PERFECT for me. And kudos to zZounds for getting this to me much faster than I thought it would take over a major holiday. I'm impressed.Curtis
Sound: Lots of effects but few are usable. I went through all the presets and found that over 90% of them could not be used unless I was laying soundtracks to a sci-fi movie. The few patches that I could use were awesome, but only one effect at a time. For what I paid for the H9 Max, I was extremely disappointed. Features: Midi, compact design, but only one effect at a time. Ease of Use: Bluetooth interface was smooth. Lots of presets, but I play in a band, not making soundtracks for a sci-fi film. Quality: Built really well, unfortunately, you can only use one effect at a time. Value: For a single effect pedal, this is not money well spent. Buy a real multi effects pedal that allows you to run multiple effects at the same time. Manufacturer Support: NA The Wow Factor: I was wowed by the fact I spent way too much money on a single effect. Overall: I bought the Max version so that I would have all the effects in one pedal and use the midi function with a single midi foot controller. Unfortunately, this is a single effects pedal only! Yes it has many effects built-in, but you can only use one effect at a time. So my dreams of having a clean floor space is over and I paid dearly for the name. This is a SINGLE effect pedal only. It comes with samples of their 4 different stomp boxes, but you can only use ONE AT A TIME. One of the most expensive single effect pedals out there. Eventide acts like Apple corporation, very stingy when it comes to using their product. You're gonna pay way too much for the name and get only a single effect. First, the H9 is an incredible deal for the money and sounds great. Buy It!! What I really want to do is correct the comments saying you can only use one effect at a time. Not true. First, the H9 uses algorithms. These algorithms can have more than one effect being used as part of one patch. As with anything using a microprocessor the more you ask it to do the less parameters will be available to keep the same sound quality. So let's say a patch with delay and chorus might not have as many parameter controls than just some delay only patches/algorithms, but there's still plenty of control and the sound is not degraded. Also, since the "Core" model is much cheaper and if you own a "Max" you have access to all the algorithms of the Max with the Core. You get a heck of a set up with a Max and Core together for half the price of other multi-FX units in this class. Actually much more flexibility. Read about it thoroughly to fully understand the power of this unit.Chris

Overall: Finally got another Whammy V after missing my prior one in a "stupid-sell all-great new multi unit dumb idea". Not sure what to say about this pedal as it would seem of the many vids I have seen on it, I cast doubt if anyone really can understand how to use it without having one for a time. I constantly hear this "weeeeoooo" thing and really that might be of use now and then but what nails this pedal for me is the harmonizer mode section. 8va's and 4ths,5ths, utterly amazing. This is not so much a moving the pedal thing as everyone seems to want to do. Most of th etime mine is parked up or dwn for a specific harmony or maybe a sweep of low to high octave, play a version of Dazed and Confused using this and you may just never be the same. The lowered 5th harmonizer mode on this puppy is probably one of the best all time tones I have ever had the pleasure of playing. A harmonizer, with no set key or scale restriction, polyphonic tracking, true bypass, I'd pay more just for that. The DT model is cool but I am not really doing step tuning variants. Anyway, this pedal is sooooo much better than what you will hear being done on typical vids. Mastering this puppy will afford you a range of really cool tone possibilities nothing else can muster. Those who hate this pedal suffer from the terrible videos of it or the old models that glitch and burble from only being monophonic tracking. The buffer has been removed and this is improved poly tracking tech! Full bandwidth 1M ohm and out. Simply no comparison tech wise to the previous models.Whambam
I love how certain players use this pedal. Bucketed is the absolute master of the Digitech Whammy. I like Buckethead and got a whammy to try for myself. The only time I actually use it during performance as a ad-lib bit. The problem is that when its engaged it sucks the life out of your tone. Its like going from an all tube amp to using an iRig to play your guitar through your cell phones speakers. The effects are crazy awesome though. People that don't know gear that hear you play, bug out when they are trying to figure out how in the world you are getting those crazy sounds. The pedal needs recalibrate all the time. For no reason, even when you have the pedal on heel down, when you engage the unit the pitch will shift. The dive bomb effects are crazy for weird rumbling effects. All in all, typical of my experience with Digitech, they aren the best effects tonally. But if you want to go weeeee-ooohhhhh, weed-ohhhhhh a bunch for the fun of it, this is your pedalSpaceman Spiff
Bought this in a heartbeat to replace my Digitech Whammy IV, which is a fantastic pedal but lacks the sound quality and additional features of this latest version: the Whammy V. For the uninitiated: The Digitech Whammy is a versatile pitch-shifting, harmonizer, octave, drop-tune, and chorus pedal used extensively by at least one of your favorite pro guitarists: Johnny Greenwood, Tom Morello, Jack White, Matt Bellamy, Buckethead, and countless others. I use it not just to replicate parts of their songs–Johnny's +2-octave riff in "Just", the solo in "Like a Stone", the "bass" line in "Seven Nation Army"–but in plenty of my own songs, both live and in the studio. The construction is solid and designed for both touring and in-studio use–durable but not too heavy, big but not obnoxious. Next, the upgrades: This new Whammy comes with two huge improvements. The first is true-bypass switching. Previous models are well known for being tone-sucking beasts, and although there is still a noticeable change in your sound when this latest version is on, when it's off it's off. The other massive upgrade is polyphonic tracking while pitch-shifting, which means it can shift entire chords up or down without sounding glitchy or garbled (e.g., "My Iron Lung"). For people who like that glitchy Whammy IV sound and want the option to use it, there's now a Classic/Chords switch which lets you do just that. On the cosmetic side, Digitech renamed a few modes, reorganized the layout, and brought back the Whammy logo on the expression pedal. All of these upgrades are godsends for long-time users. Finally, the drawbacks: First, as always, there is no "intelligent" harmonizer setting, so you're still limited to choosing an interval–4th, 5th, 7th–and not a key–Bb, C#, E–for your harmonies. Also, this latest version keeps the MIDI jack but ditches the dry output, which is a bummer. I have an amp that doesn't have a reverb channel and was using a multieffects pedal that had a reverb function, but I decided it was time to have a seperate reverb pedal so I could run it alongside the multieffects – kind of to simulate a reverb channel on an amp. I did my research and picked this little guy. I was suprised first off at the weight – for being a die-cast chassis, it wasn't heavy at all. I found my favorite setting in the Hall reverb, simply because I liked the decay it produced, but all of the effects seemed to work very well. the response was accurate from effect to effect when you turn the amount knob. I found at about 9 o'clock you would get a minimal effect that usually is more heard at the tail end; and at 11-12 o'clock it blends with your dry signal so it's very prominent. once I got past 12 o'clock though, the more dynamic picking I'd do the more the effect would push through, so sometimes it would throw my drummer off a little bit since it was almost a slap-back decay. with the amount knob all the way dialed-in, the effect obviously overtakes all of your dry signal; and in the flerb setting you get some awesome sounding ambient sounds. All in all, I wish I could get a little bit more of a dry/wet amount ratio, but this pedal definitely has some cool sounds and can be used in a variety of settings. I think it's the best pedal to replace a reverb channel for an amp and gives you more versatility than that one sound your amp channel would give you.Clifton
Nice nice pedal, feels fairly tough, the difference between the spring and hall I thought was quite noticeable. It take me a while to get a setting I liked however I imagine it will depend on your amp and guitar plus we all like different tones. Picked one a few weeks ago because I switched to a tube head without reverb. Orange TH30 which is also awesome but felt the need to add some verb at times. I choose this pedal for 3 reasons, compact, simple operation and $. Good decision I believe. Had no problem daisy chaining to other pedals using my Snark 9V set up and love the spring setting. As others have said, the "Flirb" is virtually impossible to use for any practice purpose and Frank Zappa may be the one person who could have utilized it. Still a good pedal.Latty
