I was looking for the original Rockland that was over $200 and I wondered why this one was so cheap well I found out it's because it's got no delay or chorus it's just the distortion on or off no adjustments just thinking settings one two or three which is just levels of clean it's just worse than heavy so it's not the same device at all but for what it does it does it wel.Consumerdude

Even more portable portable with a mini cable hooked to my lap steel guitar. The volume output is so much better and clearer than the VOX clean headphone amp. EHX has no gain, just nice, clear and transparent clean sounds to help me focus on technique with my guitar. Fast shipping from Chicago Music Exchange. I am quite pleased with this headphone amp. I have been using it with a bass and am very impressed with the even frequency response and very pure-sounding tone. I am also using Shure in-ear headphones, and the combo just sounds right together. The clip on the unit fits onto guitar straps so it is convenient to plug in with a pedal patch cable and clip on near the bottom strap button. Having said that, I do have a few gripes with the unit that were enough to take away one star. For one – mine shipped with the volume knob turned all the way up. Without clear marking of what is max and min volume, this could be damaging to someone's hearing out of the box. While it doesn't get very loud, it's still inconsiderate to the musician. The other thing is the static when the headphones are being plugged in. Again, with the default volume at max, this isn't a good thing to have happen. I certainly hope nobody puts their headphones on before plugging into this… I would much rather see a different volume knob on this unit that clicks off when it is turned all the way down, especially because I'd prefer to leave my headphones plugged into this when I'm done with it (have to unplug them to save the battery). Overall it's worth the price and the simplicity is great for musicians. Just be smart when it comes to your ears and you'll enjoy this product.that guy
Well I don't like Electro Harmonix but I've purchased junk practice/travel amps from fender, and the especially bad VOX..really really the VOX is garbage don't buy the VOX. This one I currently use at work with a single pickup and it sounds really nice and clean. Warm not scratchy. So even though I've wasted some money on Electro Harmonix pedals this practice amp can't be beat at the price point they sell them for. You might get something with more bells and whistles than a volume knob for twice as much but if you want a simple clean amp this will do at this price this is a great little device. Great sound and easy edit from the phone app. Built it drums for practice/warmup. I use if for Bass guitar, far superior to Vox AmPlug MK 2 Bass and cheaper Bassment which both have a lot of background hiss (and poorer sound in my opinion), although it is move expensive. Takes a bit of getting used to having to use the App for settings etc but so much more versatile, check out the 'Mightier Amp' app as an alternative to the official 'Mighty Amp' app. Bluetooth connectivity for audio (jam tracks) a big plus. Design is good, when plugged in it is very unobtrusive and does not get in the way. I only use it for playing with headphones so can't comment on Audio Out/Recording features. Can't see me using Vox AmPlug Bass again!krisb372

Got this Amplug Blues today plugged it into my Strat and it sounds great! and I highly recommend it! Now is it perfect? the answer is the usual NO. I think it can be improved on as follows. 1. Put a little color on the dials… the plastic is all black and the plug can rotate to different orientations. Would really be nice to have the dials stand out better with different colors. 2. Change the AA batteries to USB rechargeable Lipo battery. No reason to burn batteries when you can recharge! 3. My main change request is to have Bluetooth Audio In because you plug in the Amplug and then connect headphones (great for practicing). But to add audio to jam to you need to connect another cable to the Aux jack. So for me it just get's to be too much. Since nearly everyone has a smart phone it would be great to use Bluetooth for the Audio In so you can wirelessly play jam track and stuff without needing the 2nd cable. I regret, that I was mistaken in my previous review. I had claimed that the sound was great – but, that some functions were missing, after about a month of use. That is not true. I re-read the slightly, confusing, manual. The unit itself is – slightly, confusing* – but, it does work the way it is supposed to. In fact, you have a serious selection of effects – at least, three levels, of each one of, three effects – far more than other units in this category of headphone amplifier. The sound is incredible – the thing's got, big, b*alls! – and that, in itself, is worth five stars. Amazing job!

Firstly, the sound is heavily determined by your pickups and what headphones you use. I use this to practice in the mornings when it's too early to use my valve amplifier. I play mostly metal and shred. I have used this device with a range of guitars. The one I use most is equipped with an EMG85 and an EMG60. Active pickups through this device results in a significant amplification of unwanted string noise, when using the high gain setting. For me, this is positive – it teaches me to slow down and focus on proper technique. If you dial back the gain, this "issue" goes away. The built in effects also sound very good. The only thing I would change is the sensitivity of the volume knob. 3 is already loud enough, and 10 is deafening. If you accidentally knock the wheel, you're going to hurt your ears. Keep in mind, the positive Star ratings above are based on price: For the money it is a very good piece of equipment. Yes, it is made of a thin plastic, but as long as you aren't careless with it, that should not be an issue. The battery life could be better: I get around 14 hours out of it, maybe shorter. This is with no effects. I have replaced the provided batteries with Duracell now, so this may increase. If they had a more expensive version with more rugged materials, I would buy it without hesitation

The joyo ja-03 allows you to be heard outside, in the classroom or around the house! this nifty little pocket amp has some incredible features. most importantly, quality sound. piezo pickups from guitars are brought to life, and the tone control allows you to keep the sound from becoming too bright. the gain control allows you to practice your solos with distortion, without wasting power, you guitar amps tubes or waking up the neighbors! if you want to take your guitar outside, for a street performance, this thing will give your guitar the extra boost needed to get you heard. some of the other features such as the 1/8 inch (3.5 mm) stereo input allow the unit to be used for multiple purposes, such as playing music from your cell phone while walking or playing other sports outdoors or indoors. the compact size doesn't mean there were any sacrifices made when it comes to construction. the plastic casing is sturdy, while the connectors remain secure even if tugged. the wheel-style volume control is smooth and has fairly good range; output only decreases when the battery becomes almost dead, a good indicator that it is time for a re-charge or battery replacement. overall, the joyo pocket amp functions marvelously for what it was intended to do; it looks cool, inspires fun (and practice) and offers a sound any inspired guitar player will appreciate, especially at this price!

I was looking for the original Rockland that was over $200 and I wondered why this one was so cheap well I found out it's because it's got no delay or chorus it's just the distortion on or off no adjustments just thinking settings one two or three which is just levels of clean it's just worse than heavy so it's not the same device at all but for what it does it does it wel.Consumerdude
not bad at all , i recall the old ones from the 80's sounded better but at least they switched to a nine volt battery instead of the dozen or so batteries you needed to power the old one if you didn't have the AC adapter . it's fast and convenient to use when you just want to play or practice without hassle.Timothy

This is a great little unit. It adds zero noise to the mix, boosts each individual headphone with zero bleed to the other channels. Is tiny and portable. My only wish was that it could take battery as well as AC power, so I could use it either in places without access to power (like the park or the beach) as well as require one less (proprietary) plug to lug around. I have a small home recording studio. When I was doing vocals with friends I needed two or three headphones inputs into my interface which only had one headphone jack. I used a small earphone doubler which was not very satisfactory. With the Behringer HA400 I was able to connect to the interface, have four separate volume-controlled headphone jacks and record vocals hassle free. If you are looking for a good practice amp modeler that is compact and has quite an array of effects and amps than the Pocket Pod should do the trick. I gig regularly and felt the Pocket Pod would be ideal for gigs where I didn't want to haul my tube amp around. Sound wise I'm not disappointed in hooking my pocket pod up to a sound board. However, where this product ultimately fails is there is NO On/Off switch! To activate the pod you plug your guitar directly into the input jack and it comes on. Once on you pretty much have to leave the guitar plugged in for your entire set or risk getting a loud pop through the PA system. And leaving the pod plugged in makes the pod get very warm and drains your batteries. I have a circuit breaker guitar cable so I can switch guitars without getting the dreaded pop in the PA system. I'm sure the people at Line 6 cut out the On/Off feature to save room. But I've never seen any piece of equipment that can't be turned off with a button. Satisfactory sounds but more headaches than it's worth for gigging musicians.O'neil Blues
