I bought these strings today because my local store was sold out of my usual Elixir brand. I just put them on my old Gibson acoustic, and all of the ball ends are color-coded wrong, and the strings are turning my fingers black after 20 minutes of playing. They sound OK, but really? I've been using these strings for years. The 4 wound strings last at least twice as long as other un-coated strings I've used. The 1st and 2nd strings are not coated so I buy single strings to replace these as needed without replacing the whole step. Also, I replaced my strings a couple of weeks ago and wiped the 1st and 2nd strings with a lubricant called Tuf-Glide by Sentry Solutions for protection against corrosion from oils from my fingers. This stuff is designed for guns, knives, etc. Time will tell if it makes my guitar strings last longer. Anyway, buy these strings. I think you will like them.Jack-JGUBF
These strings are not cheap but still very good value. I've always liked the tonality of D'Addario strings and used them for many years. The EXP15s have the same tonality but last much, much longer. As someone who does not enjoy the string changing rigmarole, that's a bonus in itself. I bought these hoping for comfort on my fingers and a nice tone. To be honest, neither was really achieved. I cannot feel a difference between these and other extra light strings. These are supposed be be smooth/flat and less aggressive. They don't sound very good either. They have sort of a twangy tone and seem to vary in pitch when played. Definitely not worth the extra money. If you like extra light gauge strings, go with something cheaper and save your cash.

I've been a D'addario guy for a long time, and use them on all my guitars. I like the phosphor bronze tone on my acoustics, and use the extra lights because I have hand and finger joint issues. Actually 10s are pretty heavy for me, I use 8s on my electrics. Anyway, they sound great, are easy to play and have always been reliable for me.James

A friend of mine put light gauge electric strings on his acoustic guitar so it would be easier to play. I did like the feel but the sound was too thin so when I came across the Extra Light D'Addario's for acoustics I was excited to try them. My preferred style of playing an acoustic has recently become almost all finger-picking without finger picks. I tried them on my vintage classic dreadnought Yamaha F335ii and they sound good with a little less low end and a little more thin high end which you would expect. Also there is a tendency for the little E string to rattle as I use an upward stroke with the index or middle finger to play it. I will try switching that string out with a little higher gauge to alleviate that problem. Your style (light or heavy) of playing may determine whether these strings are right for you. They are great for strumming light rhythm with a balanced bright sound using a Fender thin pick so I would definitely use them for recording rhythm parts. For recording finger-picked parts I will continue using regular light gauge strings on a Martin. The D'Addario extra lights are easy on the fingers and good for practicing any style. I received 2 sets of the extra light bronze acoustic bronze strings. I put one set on my 1940’s era Epiphone arch top F hole acoustic (no electrics installed at the moment) and man what a difference. It brightened it up, greatly improving the sound and ease of play. The other set I installed on my late model Gretsch jumbo acoustic, and it sounds good, just not quite as bright as my Epiphone. Try them, they're great. Feel nice, sound wonderful, last a long time. I've been through so many brands and so many different types of string, and these are the absolute best (for me). Even better than the expensive Austrian and German brands. I play many acoustic gigs, most are three sets a night. Some mainstream brands don't even last for one gig, going dead too soon. And if you try to squeeze a second gig out of them, it's normally the wound third string that disintegrates, regardless of manufacturer or price. But these White Bronze strings hold up well. These strings are great for archtop guitars that carry a magnetic pickup. I play my Gretsch archtop unplugged every now and then and the flat wound jazz strings just don't have much acoustic presence. I tried the DR Zebras and they are pretty weak when plugged in. I have been using SIT's for 25 years. I sat out to find a string that really does stay in tune. I used a Floyd Rose on my Carvin V220, but couldn't keep it in tune and I wondered if it was my strings. I found out about a string company that called theirself 'Stay In Tune'… I had to try them. I bought these ultra light strings on a hunch as they were a brand i had never before seen. I was pleasantly suprised by their quality of tone and response. I used them on an inexpensive guitar that I use to practice and there was a noticeable difference in the performance. I am definately buying more.Pagra

Tried these on a friend's recommendation and I'm not disappointed. I put these on a nearly new Gibson J45 Studio and was happy the strings that came new on the guitar were gone. These sound so much sweeter. It's only been a few weeks but I think they'll last as long as most strings (usually a D'Addario user). A normal set is 12-53, for some reason these are 12-54 but I couldn't notice much difference on the larger 6th string. Try a set.mmall001
I just recently picked my guitar back up after about 20 years of not playing. I have Gibson Hummingbird that I always had and the did use Martin strings on. I really got the bug about playing and ended up buying a Yamaha R 700 as well as a Seagull S6 (with a Seagull Artist Mosaic on the way). While talking to Josh on MF one day about strings he told me about these Earthwoods–lighter gauge–.11-.52. He swore by them. I had a credit with MF so I bought two sets. They are as good on my Seagull S6 as the Martin's ever were and easier to play (I finger pick mostly) and the combination of the full sound of the S6 and the Ernie Ball Earthwoods is a perfect combination. I've had them on for three weeks already and play sever hours every day and they still sound bright and full of tone. I put the other set on my Yamaha just recently and they sound as good as the Martins ever did. Whether they will remain crisp remains to be seen (each guitar is different). But in anticipation of getting my Seagull Artist Mosaic soon I've decided to buy four 6 packs of the Ernie Ball Earthwood Strings with my certificate from Backstage pass. I couldn't ask for a sweeter deal than that.KB

These flex core strings are the best, I use them on all my guitars. The tone quality and response is awesome for fingerpicking and they're super easy on the fingers. The only issue I have with the twelve string set is that it only comes in the extra light gauge so you can't detune them very far. I use some medium gauge strings for the low e, a and d stringHayden

I have used Elixir strings exclusively for the past 20 years. This is my first purchase of acoustic nanowebs in this gauge (only just started playing acoustic guitar again in recent months and always use polyweb 9's on my electrics). Only just fitted them yesterday (swapping out the poly 10's I had previously fitted – finding them too light for acoustic and going back now with the 12-53 to the maunfacurer's original gauge supplied on the guitar). Plays much better now – almost certainly due to the gauge and sounds good. Time will tell if I like nano's better than poly's on acoustic. Elixirs are comparatively expensive but the trade-off is that they keep their tone a very long time and don't corrode – so full string set changes are infrequent. Occasionally I replace just the plain strings on my electrics when I wear through the plating and/or tire them a bit with bending and vibrato.STEWART C.
The main reason I purchased this instrument was to have the ability to travel, play outside in the present climate. It's almost a disposable guitar. Not a negative against the instrument. I am not going to bring my Strat or Yamaha out to the fire, by the river or sitting on the porch during a rainstorm. Worth every dollar and every dollar I did not have to spend. I switched to elixir strings a little over five years ago and haven't look back. They are all you need for a great sounding guitar (aside from functional tuning pegs). They ring out clearly & last long. I was once away from home and had to borrow an old guitar but happened to have brought a pack of elixirs with me. I cahnged the strings and immediately got comments on how amazing of a guitar I had. Don't worry about the expense; the long life is well worth it.Mordechai

Better than the other Earthwoods, great sound on all 6 strings, good feel. Silk and Steel Extra Soft sound muffled especially low E plus they vibrate so much, strings hit my fingers on other strings. Extra Light Phospor sound muffled too. Rock and Blues, the 3 high strings sound tinny and G rattles on 2 guitars. No more experimenting, I'm sticking with Earthwood Extra Light 2006.Streetsbolt
At first I didn't like the jingly sound as it was my first time using extra light strings. Best strings i have come across in this price, great natural sound and lasted me a long time(about 5 months). Really can feel the difference after switching back to light gauge. Would highly recommend to anyone who likes that bluesy sound. Definitely give them a try.Sid
I don't recommend these strings for gigs with an amplified acoustic guitar. Should be fine for practice at home. First let me say I am a LOYAL Ernie Ball user – I have used them on my electric guitars for over 35 years. I have tried others and always go back to my Ernie Balls. One of my bands has me playing more acoustic guitar now than before, and I wanted to try some extra light gauge strings so that (a) I could play leads better and (b) my fingers wouldn't be so torn up after a five hour bar gig. So I tried the Ernie Ball Earthwood extra light acoustic strings on my Fender acoustic, equipped with a nice Fishman internal pickup. They are wonderful to play, easy on the hands and very bendable. Unfortunately they sound terrible. My band mates yelled at me the first gig, what happened to your guitar? The strings sounded tinny and distorted terribly. No tone, no volume, no projection. I don't think it is entirely because of the lightness of the gauge. I replaced them with Fender light gauge acoustic strings (11 – 52), barely bigger than the EBs (10 – 50), and the tone is back to what it should be. I still love Ernie Ball – but these Extra Light Acoustic strings just didn't work for me. Nice to play but they don't sound good. Priced right.tbalek
