Reviews:
I wanted to review this after reading a view negative reviews that almost made me not buy it. First of all, to the people wanting more discussion or breakdown of scales and theory used, IMO that is your own fault, not the fault of this DVD. A beginner shouldnt be picking up this DVD and expect it to teach you everything about the theory. Alexi uses basically major and natural minor scales (Diatonic mostly, some pentatonic). If you don't know what this means, do a little studying on the side before picking up this. If you know what this means, you will have no problems understanding what he is doing. I recommend this to anyone wanting to improve their chops, regardless of whether you are a Bodom fan or not. If you like catchy riffs and melodic/heavy music, this is really a blast to practice! I think of this DVD as a compilation of technical lessons that sound much better than the stuff you get in pure technical lesson books….because these riffs and leads come from actual songs.GuitarDTO
I'm a huge children of bodom fan. When I bought these videos I expected what was promised in the description. There was no rundown on scales, theory, chord progressions, anything really. Just Alexi Laiho sounding confused and playing riffs from songs Ive already heard, very few of which were actually challenging to a moderately skilled guitarist. If you dont plan on learning anything from these videos in the first place, then youre the exact person who should purchase them, otherwise do yourself a favor and spend your money on something else.Anonymous
Wow-This was absolutely terrible. No instruction concerning scales/progressions used. Just him showing what he can do…which I admit is impressive, but a real waste in time. UNLESS you just want to be able to play what he does without any analysis or technique discussions. I would certainly save your money.TimberF15

A monster of a pedal with great clean and dirty tones, also after the latest firmware update a great audio interfaceReviewed by Andertons Music Co.
This pedal shows how far from every other brand Darkglass currently is. Just the touch equalizer is beyond any other pedal that I’ve owned. It’s so easy to use and understand. The turning knobs are also something unique. I loved how every distortion device and cab is so different, it delivers diversity when creating a really distorted but clear bass sound, unlike any other bass distortion pedal that I’ve tried.

Reviews:
I found one cheap and used and bought it with no preconceived notions. This pedal chugs and grinds in its own unique way. Not like a Bogner Red, Wampler Triple Wreck, or HK Warp Drive (all great pedals). You can play dissonant chords and it will evenly drive each note (A Vox Satchurator does this too, but the Metal Core has INSANE amounts of usable bass). I play through two 4×12's with V30's and G12T100's and it THUMPS! Turn down the gain and it backs down and lightens up. Works great with delay/time based effects.DaveMan
You can get every pedal in the world and BOSS is just going to tear them up and be the ones you want to go back to. The BOSS ml-2 is simply that distortion pedal you are looking for to carry you over the top in sustaining notes feeling like you're playing on butter, yet ripping that growling crunching chug you want to push thru the mix. Try using it also with a overdrive pedal and turning the ml2 distortion level down to about 7.5. Then use the overdrive to kick it back in for your leads. It truly out does the metal zone even thru the effects loop as I run the mt-2. Buy this bad boy! You will not regret it!nancy_acker77
THE ML-2 METAL CORE IS… BOSS IN "BEAST MODE!!!" Hands down my favorite "Metal" Distortion pedal by Boss. They got everything right on this one. Deep thundering distortion that's up in your face. It's a very modern sound that's very defined yet clean enough to enjoy. I'm probably one of just a few who happen to own every distortion and medal pedal made by Boss. Each were designed for specific tones in the search for that perfect sound. While some are lacking to be honest numerous are very good. The ML-2 "Metalcore" is great. If you like the MT-2 "Metal Zone", you'll love this Beast! It's the sound I always wanted but couldn't quite dial in. If you're into Hard & Heavy hitting metal music, it's certainly worth checking out. I like it so much I own 3 to have on all my pedal boards. It'll be the pedal everyone looks back on to purchase years from now when they're discontinued.kt.precisio-7

Reviews:
Cosmetically, the guitar had some issues: the pickguard screws were not in all of the way and the finish is a little more green than grey. Aside from the cosmetic issues, this guitar is amazing. The specs alone of this guitar match what would you would see in guitars that are 3 times its price. The guitar not only came perfectly set up but also completely in tune. The finish is very smooth and I love how you can feel the grain of the ash. The pickups are amazing. These are the only set of OEM pickups I’ve genuinely been impressed with. On 6 strings, their response is extremely dynamic and clear and fills a lot of sonic space without being to aggressive in any vein. I find them a little boomy for really low tuned stuff, but I play E standard most of the time and I see no reason to swap them. Cleans are clear and twangy while distorted tones are thick yet defined. I’m extremely impressed by this line by schecter. I also own the C-7 Apocalypse and I’m equally impressed with it.Ryan

Reviews:
I had played one of these in a store and liked the feel. After having one for a few weeks, I like it even more. I'm slightly taller than the average guy. Hence my fingers are a bit longer than the average guy. Maybe it is just because the neck seems to get thinner as you get up to the higher notes, but it seems like the neck is a little wider than the rest of my guitars up around the 15th to 24th frets. ("rest of my guitars" include Les Paul, Strat, Ibanez RG550, EVH Wolfgang, and others for reference). Aside from how great the paint job LOOKS, it does not have a gloss coat on it. This is a good thing since the paint job extends up the back of the neck allowing your hand to slide quite freely on the back of the neck. The bridge humbucker is fantastic. It screams the notes clearly with ZERO noise or hum when not playing. I'm not that impressed with the neck humbucker, but that's comparing it to the neck hum on my Les Paul, Carvin, and PRS Custom. AND, for about 90% of the 80s hair band songs you are never using that pickup anyway. The Floyd Rose is great! I got tired of waiting for it to need minor tuning adjustments naturally, so I'm to the point of TRYING to make it go out of tune even slightly and it STILL stays locked in tune. Overall, this guitar is now my GO TO for anything 80s (the biggest chunk of my playing preference).Steve
Having tried playing MANY of these in my hands, it seems that the quality control out of the Jackson Indonesia factory is hit-or-miss. If you get a good unit without problems, it is a great guitar with a great sound for a great price! And the looks are so nice as well. The neck thru body construction is so smooth and sweet. However, you might get a dud that sounds horrible. Or it might have severe defects in the neck or locking nut. In my experience, about 50% are of poor quality.
I was keen to find a 6 string that had a fixed bridge that I could use for covers and so I can retune to alternate tunings easily without having to get the screwdrivers and spending a lot of time retuning like a Locking Tremolo guitar. Thankfully the guitar already had Seymour Duncan pick ups in which are essential to having a aggressive tone but as well allow good expression so this meant it would be a case of getting the guitar out the box and playing rather than buying separate pick ups having to fit them in and so on. As I wanted a guitar that wasn't black or brightly colored the desert sand finish on the guitar really stood out and attracted me. Most of the SLP2's have a great selection of finish's. As for the neck and wood finish it is very smoothly and allows you to get quick access from from end of the neck to the other. Behind each the tuners on the headstock, there is this interesting circular turning device to help lock in the strings. This may help keep it in tune more but I also just attribute it staying in tune due to the general quality of the guitar. I bend the strings a lot for my lead playing and I play very aggressively with thick picks and rhythmically so once I put some heavier strings on (my preference) and configured the bridge saddles with a very small L shaped Allen/hex key the guitar stayed in tune.Tom H.

Reviews:
All in all, this is a great guitar. It buzzed a little when I first picked it up, but this is easily fixable. The neck feels great, I don't have to reach too much around it, the guitar aesthetics wise looks amazing. the special floyd rose doesn't give me any issues, and the locking nuts keep it in tune fairly well. It has some pretty cool features like the kill switch. It's an amazing guitar besides a couple problems I have for how much it costs. The pickups are a little soft, and if you're into death metal and things like that, these pickups aren't the best for it. They are good, but there are better out there. Second, I'm not a fan of how there aren't any inlays on it, but there are inlays on the side of the neck. If I had to rate this guitar out of 10, I would give it an 8/10. Pickups could've been better given the price. But it's a great guitar and if you have the money, I would invest in it. I would put it up there with Ibanez's higher end guitars.Josh
Such a lovely full sounding guitar, absolutely amazing for the price.Reviewed by guitarguitar custome

I am a fifteen year old metal guitarist. Guitar is a passion for me and I want to become a real musician when I grow up. I have been listening to Bodom since I was twelve and I love the music. I bought this dvd because I want to learn some Bodom songs, I want to get faster, and better at sweeping. This is a great DVD. It really is challenging and I will have to spend time getting it all right(I just bought it today). There are a lot of riffs and arpeggios and lessons. Most of the music is in drop-c and is off of "Are You Dead Yet?". Anyway, I like it so far. And I will probably buy dvd one. Oh, and buy the "Follow the Reaper" album to see Alexi's true abilities.Anonymous

10. Death Magnetic By Metallica [Audio Cd]
Product Details:
One of the most influential bands in music, ranked eighth on the list of the biggest-selling groups in history, metallica unveils its ninth studio album, death magnetic. the band's first album in five years, death magnetic is also its first with renowned producer rick rubin (danzig, slayer, system of a down, slipknot), first with bassist robert trujillo, and first on warner bros. heavy and thrashy, unafraid to embrace the band's past yet move into the future.
Specifications:
Reviews:
Better than their last crappy album St. Anger. No garbage can lid drum sound and no whiny vocals. Why'd ya do it? This is a decent last death thrash from this band. These days, there's alot more extreme music that's faster, heavier, and more aggressive and Metallica put out a more radio style heavy rock. It's not the 1980's anymore when these guys were the cutting edge. The songs are good but they're not orgasmic. It's not edgy, these guys have lost most of their edge. I hear ramblings of veganism, yoga, one week on tour one week off because of the kids in their interviews. The 30ish, 40ish receding hairline, overweight, flab on her ass crowd will love this album because it reflects their tiredishness and final conformity into society. As you get older, it's all about how much money you have and how much you can blend into the crowd. As for the young and young at heart, the heavy metal torch is passed to you. Keep the flame alive.metalripslinger
Metallica's instrumentation is far better than what they've been trying to feed us with their last four albums. They haven't quite restored the edginess they had when they were young, but who knows if that could ever happen. My main thought was this: James used to sing with sorrow. He sounded like he was trying to get a point across. Now he sounds like he's trying to make money. However, his singing is actually quite good in comparison to the vocals on the other recent albums. The engineering decision to use AutoTune on him was a bad one. I'll leave it at that. The engineering isn't the WORST I've ever heard, but I made better mixes when I was an amateur. The kick drum is equalized incorrectly and it makes subwoofers distort and flap before they can even begin to start putting out any notable bass. The bass guitar? Basically non-existent. The only time I could hear it is when he was the only one playing, or when the over-compression popped him through the spaces between the drums when the guitars were resting. The overall mix is SO COMPRESSED that it is audibly distorted to even the most untrained ear. It's quite sad. This is a collaboration of some of the most famously talented people in the music industry, which took YEARS. How on God's green Earth did no one notice that the album was over compressed and had a bad EQ job? It's mixed better than their eighties albums, but nowhere near as punchy and tight as the self-titled album (not saying anything about the music on that album). I've done nothing but talk smack about Metallica for the last decade. I hated their "new sound" featured on "Load", "Re-Load", "St. Anger" and whatever that other one that sucked was called. This album is highly rooted in their old sound, with some of their maturity added to the song structure. It isn't their best by any means, and I'd absolutely love listening to it if I weren't constantly reminded how much I hate the mix. Why so cynical? It's Metallica. I expect a lot. If you wind up wildly disappointed with this album and feel like you're going to go into shock because you really need a fix of new Metallica music, and you wish it sounded heavier and more talented, go pick up a Trivium album. ~bradleypariah
I have listened to this entire album about 5 times and I definitely think that it is not too bad. Death Magnetic is without question better than St. Anger, considering that was one of the worst albums to come out in a long time, but Death Magnetic in my opinion is not as good as the old school Metallica and nothing ever will be. James Hetfield's vocals have gone way downhill since their awesome previous albums(excluding St. Anger); you can tell that he's gettin' old. Death Magnetic has got some good solos and guitar riffs and sounds very good, but to me it feels like the vocals are slightly lacking. Overall, definitely not a bad album and worth the money to buy it if you are a Metallica fan, but if you're not the biggest fan I would wait for the chance to borrow it from a friend or just download it. 7/10. My personal favorite song from the album would have to be #1: That Was Just Your Life.snozzberry87

12. Darkthrone – Total Death (Cd)
Product Details:
Reissue of the classic 1996 darkthrone album! darkthrone began in the late 80's as a thrash/death metal act & progressed through technical death/doom metal experimentation to become legends of the black metal world & one of the original leading bands of the norwegian scene, as well as inspiring a whole generation of metal bands. 'total death' was the sixth album from the black metal legends and was originally released in 1996. after recording the previous two albums at fenriz's necrohell portable home studio, the band reverted to a traditional studio set-up for recording; this time it was ancient spectre ruins, with the songs recorded in two sessions there in august and october 1995. the song-writing on 'total death' was split equally between the 2 members, fenriz and nocturno culto, with nocturno supplying lyrics to his own songs, whilst fenriz gave the honour to notable members of the norwegian metal scene: garm from ulver, ihsahn from emperor, carl-michael eide from aura noir/ved buens ende and satyr from satyricon. the album delivers a classic dose of mid and up-tempo black metal, along with thrash, such as on the track 'blasphemer'. also included on this edition of 'total death' is the bonus track "god of disturbance and friction", which itself was recorded around the same period and subsequently included on a low-key compilation for the band's label at the time, moonfog productions.

Highly skilled guitarist and teacher Troy Stetina comes to the rescue with this book. There are many different styles of Metal of course but this will help you whichever style you want to play. 19. Metallica – Death Magnetic – Cd
Product Details:
In the five years between the two releases, metallica seem to have gotten back in touch with the raw power of their classic period, with a little help from legendary producer rick rubin. one listen to the 10-minute epic "suicide & redemption" with its mix of raw rock ferocity and complex musical development should tell you the old metallica's back in business. long tracks with complex structures and intricate, speedy riffs abound. most appealing for longtime fans may be the return to the frenzied guitar solos of yore. rubin seems to have assisted the band on a path that successfully combines power, melodicism, and pure, unadulterated metal mania, over a sonic statement that definitively proves there's nothing over-the-hill about middle-aged metal.

Reviews:
And so it seemed it was the end for Metallica after their previous album: St Anger. This album is Metallica back on form. It showcases some of the best guitar and drum work they have ever done. Whilst the lyrics arent exactly up to par, they are still ok. The actual music itself overides the lyrics anyway. 'Suicide And Redemption' is an amazing instrumental clocking in at almost ten minutes! 'The Unforgiven III' is another track worthy of mention, it sounds different but its still got that Unforgiven feeling to it. (it starts off with a piano!) 'My Apocalypse' is definitely the song that contains the most thrash elements on the album and it is a great track as well. The only week song imo is 'Cyanide' but still this is Metallica back on form…its been far too long. (the album itself is 75 minutes long but I love almost every minute of it)Aaron
Disc was good, case was all in one piece.trendaile_7
