Reviews:
I'm new to Cubase and dedicated computer based music production. Although it is early days with using the software it was pretty easy to set up and use with my Yamaha Montage keyboard. Even though this isn't top of the Cubase range it still offers tons of the stuff you would expect from such a renowned brand. No doubt I will at some point be upgrading to Artist 10 or Pro 10 versions as and when required, I am sure that this entry level version of Cubase will keep me busy and allow my workflow to run smoothly. So…. Would I recommend this as a foot into the world of Cubase? Absolutely.digitaltechnostuff
Well it works well but keeping it working with the dongle is proving the most disappointing aspect to using this.. as it was an upgrade had to load the original licence onto the dongle. It could have made things impossible if it hadn't been done correctly surely the install process could have been programmed to do this automatically with instructions and prompts . It wasn't and only found out after the programme stopped working and had to go to help section on the website which was vague at bestReviewed by Absolute Music custo
I've used a few music software programs in the past including for notation, MIDI piano roll, wave editing, signal processing, multi-track arrangement. In many cases I've had to jump between different software packages for what I wanted to do. Cubase Pro caters for just about all your needs including multitracking with automation, piano roll, mixer, signal processing, live recording and even piano notation and more. It's one powerful tool. It comes loaded with all kinds of voices / instruments and loops. I like being able to edit notes on a piano roll, and the live effects processing, but particularly like being able to just plug my digital piano in (just need a printer type USB cable, setting up is unbelievably easy) and being able to play live, switch between instruments at the click of a mouse button and include live signal processing as you play. I'm not entirely convinced yet of Cubase' wave editing ease of use, particularly cutting and beat matching, I seem to remember Cool Edit Pro being easier, but that may come with more use. As a composition tool, it's perfect.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

I started w/ version 4 when it 1st came out and then went ahead and got this latest version 5 and I gotta say it's an impressive update as far as features and plug in U.I. redesign. Could I have went without this update? Sure but when I saw the excellent payment plan here on AMS I figured what the heck? Glad I did because I have found the show feature to be really useful along w/ a few other nifty ad ons they put in there, you can definitely tell this is a well thought out software and the update was no exception!Bang Therapy
I have been a long time user of studio one, and was expecting an instant download after purchase like most websites provide. This one makes you wait for a physical copy of your license/subscription per se. Im sure when I get it, I will love it. Hopefully! I guess we'll see when it finally comes. Super annoyed right now…rocsteady
Superb very user-friendly and is a great DAW. It comes with 4 instruments and heaps of effects and loops download the software that comes as a bonus to get lots of goodies more effects and instruments loops Can`t go wrong I`ve tried them all. in my opinion, PreSonus Studio Artist 6 ($159) is all that a home musician needs. Also, have Abelton Standard ($561) but way more complicated?Mark K

Reviews:
Well, since I had to buy a new computer, I had to replace Cubase 5. The plus side is the new 9.5 version added a few nice plug-ins. The metering also seems better. However, the visual aspect of it, went backwards to me. While it will take time to get use to the new program, I just don't understand why you would make your product more cluttered looking, and to me the left side view seems kind of redundant. Much prefer the ease I felt on the older version.R.W.
For the price around $100, it was about what I expected, but it was sometimes a little complicated as far as setting up audio inputs and outputs. It tried to automatically setup my audio output, but I ended up having to do it all over because it didn't create a stereo mix fader. Because of the Groove Agent, I was able to import and use some drum samples.dalan1972
I've given this an "Excellent" in spite of the fact I have some problems with it. I appear to be missing certain files as Groove Agent SE, Padshop, Retrologue 2 & Halion Sonic SE plus a few other things seem to be absent. I've contacted Steinberg support & am currently awaiting their response which I'm hoping won't be just to tell me I've done something stupid when downloading! What I've got works fine & I'm pleased with that – I'm hoping that will still be the case with the whole thing once the problem gets sortedReviewed by Andertons Music Co.

Great DAW at a great price.Reviewed by Absolute Music custo

Reviews:
Though complicated, with help from YouTube videos and a book on the software, I'm finding it well worth the money. I am, however, still miffed at the boxed software that is being marketed. To me boxed means with a cd and instructional literature. In reality, the boxed software contains only with a card (sans proper instructions) with a printed key for downloading the software. I waited weeks for the boxed issue when I could have downloaded and been using it for weeks!William
Great DAW software unfortunately slightly spoiled by the usual Steinberg software instability and complications.Reviewed by Absolute Music custo

9. Ik Multimedia Axe I/o Audio Interface
Product Details:
Axe i/o is a professional 2 in/5 out audio interface and controller – designed specifically with the needs of the recording guitarist in mind, providing best-in-class sound quality and powerful features aimed squarely at making your recordings faster, easier, and better than ever. there's plenty of youtube videos heralding this device and the modeling suite (amplitube) that you can purchase separately online.i'd list this as better than "very good" but it's picked up some burnishing on the right side (pictured). i've had it sitting on a rack shelf since i purchased it this past spring and must have rubbed the right-hand side against the rack rail at some point. i have the original box, but that got crushed somewhere along the way and is also pictured.i've added more electronic devices which required more inputs, so this has been phased out for a larger focusrite device.

Overall: I've been looking to upgrade my Focusrite 2i2, Apogee Jam+, and iRig Pro Duo combination (don't ask!) for quite some time because I was never completely happy with the constant tweaking required for guitar tones without high end harshness and sizzle. zZounds had the AXE I/O on sale for $299, so I went for it. One interface to rule them all, LOL. The mic pres are at least as good as the Scarlett. The midi and expression pedal inputs work as expected for keys, drums, wah wah, etc. AXE I/O has plenty of clean volume on the headphone out. The JFET and Z-Tone controls are subtle but make all the difference with my Fenders and Gibsons. Again, harshness, brittleness, high end sizzle…GONE. e. Easy setup and installation of control softwaref. Amp-Out/Re-Amp is a great feature. Lots of ways to experiment here. Plays nice with Logic Pro. No noticeable latency at 256. Highly recommended for guitar players using amp sims.
Have been using Amplitube for more than a decade, it has always been ok although version 5 has really come of age. Sounds fantastic with Bass (as always) and now also with Guitars. Needs to be tweaked a bit more to get the best out of it but that's a good thing. The AXEIO interface is the perfect solution for any guitar with its versatility and SQ. Overall this package is awesome for writing and recording at home and also final takes, it's that good! Value for money as a package deal is a no brainer. Well done IK Multimedia.funkedalic
Solid unit with great guitar/bass input options. The software is great and the new tonex capture software adds another level of flexibility. The guitar out is very clean and was one of the main reasons I purchased as I needed a reamp box, this brings that capability with all the other features and for someone that hasn't invested heavily in software this product also came with the option to choose two extra IK product upgrades (as well as Tonex and Amplitube "Max")stevevaifan

I am a producer, synth pop song writer, and music video director. I have been fortunate to learn from the best in Los Angeles, including Grammy Award winner and recording engineer, Tom Weir. I assembled my dream studio over the past 2 years. I have a Lexicon outboard reverb, but could not afford the PCM hardware. I was thrilled to find out Lexicon put out an AAX plug in that works with Protools 11. My PC utilizes Windows 8.1, so the most recent Lexicon PCM Native Reverb Plug In did not work. Lexicon recommended uploading their previous version. This worked perfectly. I was able to download and run this plug in without problem in my other computer that has Windows 10 Professional as its OS. The reverbs are natural, lush, and smooth. They are truly world-class. The graphic displays helps me understand intuitively how the reverb is processing the sounds. I did not notice any problems with my computer locking up or slowing down while using the plug in reverb. The advantage of this plug in is that I can utilize several Lexicon PCM-class reverbs simultaneously – which is not possible with outboard gear, unless one invests in multiple units. That would have been cost-prohibitive for me. I am thrilled to have world-class reverbs in my Protools 11 DAW. Thank you Lexicon 🙂delailahandernest
I am interessted in music making since end of 2019. So.. i tried to figure out wich programs are used by professional producers. At all, there are a lot of Digital Audio Workstations (DAW's) on the market. Big name are Ableton Live, Apple Logic Pro and FL Studio. Most of time i am working on Windows 10 and Arch-Linux. So Apple Logic Pro droped out for me. For both DAW's you will find a lot of free knowledgment. So i choose FL Studio cause AVICII, MARTIN GARRIX and other (for me) great Artists use(d) it. After 2 weeks playing a lot with the software and watching tons of videos, i can work with it. For newbies like me, some times it is very hard to implement the idea you have in your head.. cause there is so much functionality.. There are so many very professional plugins included like Reeverb 2 or Fruity EQ 2 Yes, you have to spent a lot of time with the program and yes, it isnt easy at all. Also it isnt cheap and you can buy tons of extra external plugins (VST), but you will get a great tool kit to create awesome music. So if you ask me if i can recommend it for new producers, i would defintly say yes. By the way.. i also used the trick and bought the education licence, after that i upgraded it to an regular license.Stefan
FL studio 20 is THE BEST DAW in the market right now. I started with FL Studio 4 back in 2006, and I felt in love with it ever since. I love the layout, love how easy it is for someone who doesn’t know music theory to just use whatever melody you might have in your head and FL studio can help you make that happen quick! FL Studio 20 is NOW what every Pro Tools, Cubase etc lover used to wish FL Studio was back in the days; you can do so much with this version and the OPTIONS ARE ENDLESS!! Recording vocals is easy and amazing at the same time, adding effects to your mixes, mastering is pretty easy compared to mastering on Pro Tools or any other DAW. So for all of you who have not made up your mind about FL studio 20, BUY IT!! You won’t tegret it!’ SPECIALLY!! with the options that American Musical Supply offers, like 0% finance charges with your debit card, which I have been using with AMS since 2010. Will definitely recommend it!!Olegario I Taveras

Reviews:
The UMC404HD is an amazing value. Excellent design and build..especially at this price point. Great little headphone amp too. I bought it to collaborate with some old band mates in distant locales using Audacity. Using a Zoom H4n Pro overhead with its two sweet little condensor mics feeding stereo to two of the Behringer's four channels, and then Shure 54Ds on bass & snare feeding the remaining channels. The preamps are super clean and handle the drum transients very well. Nice A/D conversion and it is very well-behaved on the digital side too–feeding all four discrete channels to Audacity through USB –while– receiving monitor playback of the existing Audacity tracks (which is essential to avoid latency issues). It also plays well with others on the digital side: I'm running Linux on a raspberry pi 4 and it picked up the Behringer no problem (that was pushing it). I've also been using it as a nice headphone amp for casual listening. Talk about bang for the buck!
I had been using an Edirol USB bus-powered audio interface with 2 inputs and MIDI, but I was starting to run out of options when trying to do live recording. Even miking a drum kit was going to be problematic if I ever went to analog drums. So I bought this unit and it is already paying dividends. I can run audio from multiple keyboards, guitars etc and record simultaneously in a live context. Great! In the home studio, unlike the Edirol unit which has one audio out, this unit has two pre-amped audio out channels, so I can run my Rokit 6’s as near-field studio monitors, and run some large flat panel speakers I made using audio-exciters to provide a wider sound stage. This unit requires a power supply (provided) and means that it can power up and start making sound right from their get-go, whereas with the Edirol I had to wait for the USB bus to power up after booting the PC, so that’s another bonus. Fair warning, though, you have to connect to the net to get the driver install program for Mac or PC, as there is no driver disc supplied. But so far that’s the only downside, and a very small one at that. Another upside is that the device sets up perfectly in WinXP on my dual-boot PC, as Behringer supply backwardly compatible drivers, a lesson Roland could learn with their Edirol stuff – I have multiple retired devices that became obsolete courtesy of Roland’s indifference to their client base. So far, 100% happy.David B.
This interface is an incredible value with excellent performance. The one fault I discovered is that the line outputs are underpowered, unable to muster a professional +4db line level output. In my case I was sending stereo mixes out to hardware processors and having to use other devices to increase the gain to a professional level. While perhaps I am in the minority in using this interface for mastering, I have had to upgrade to a different interface for this purpose, which realistically will surprise no one. Still, this is still a very solid 4.5/5 review and I will be hanging on the umn404hd for the foreseeable future. It's honestly lovely other than this and I love the inserts!!!!

Reviews:
I've had this unit for about two years now, so I figured I'd share my two cents. It's unlikely I'll touch on anything that hasn't been said before somewhere online, but hopefully not here. Let's start with the obvious, this is pretty expensive for most people, especially if you're just starting out recording. I tossed up buying one of these for awhile before making the leap. A lot of me didn't want to spend the money, but also I loved my Audient iD14. This is for sure a step-up from the Audient interface, but not enough to justify the price if you're simply looking to plug and play. So what makes it a worthwhile upgrade? For me, it's the plug-ins included that justify the price. UAD plug-ins truly are second to none. The price certainly factors in the plug-in bundle included, which offer the closest emulations of some of the most sought after hardware in recording. If the price tag on this unit is somewhat unsettling, it's fair to assume buying the real hardware they're modeled after is out of the question for you. Now for it's shortcomings (in my opinion). I don't have great room to mic my guitar amp, so a big reason for my purchase was to get better D/I guitar recordings. Although, I'd still say I'm managing to do this; I am not doing it in the way I expected. The reason I say this is because I find the UAD amp sims pretty awful. There's really nothing that makes me want to use them ever. It just seems like an unnecessary amount of work to get a decent tone. Of course a real amp will always sound better, but many of us making home recordings don't have this option. Personally, I find Neural DSP amp sims to be 10x better than anything UAD has available. I just want to make one more comment and it's about the learning curve involved in going from a cheaper interface to this. They include a software called UAD console. In console you can load up UAD plug-in's and save some CPU load on your computer. This is becoming less of an issue with newer machines, but it's still a nice feature. I am by no means a tech savvy person, but I didn't find console to be very difficult to get the hang of at all. I use Logic Pro X as my DAW. Maybe it's more of a challenge in other DAWs, but if you're worried about figuring out how to use console, I wouldn't let that steer you away from this product. All in all a great interface especially if you were lucky enough to grab one with the current $300 discount. I unfortunately was not one of those people.
If you fiddle within production, music entertainment, even music performance, this Apollo is definitely the one for you. It makes both your job and then output source’s job way easier. Its efficiency is amazing. Not to mention the space grey feel of it. It completely made my productions on past interfaces seem very unprofessional because it enhances the quality of the sound exponentially. Once thunderbolt cable is plugged in, it makes it easy to set up way better than any other interface I have had. The setting on it makes it very easy to control much less an interface with several knobs.. it also helped me understand functionality of frequencies and pre amps. The software is amazing. UAD takes in capabilities that you were struggling in the DAW you are using. Allows for virtual mixing and mastering tools/plugins.Deon St. Jules
I got this interface to replace my universal audio Apollo 8. Once you go universal audio you can’t go back! This thing is a work horse, preamps sound amazing. The best part of this interface is the effects you can use on the virtual mixer. The LA2A is by far one of the best emulations I’ve heard of that compressor and stays on my vocal channel at all times. You can also add input by getting a preamp with a optical connection.

Fantastic Value – ASIO driver for Win10 easy to install. "Problems" folks are experiencing are due to windows system configuration settings, and are easily "fixed". I choose this interface because I thought I wouldn't outgrow it. The available recording quality is high, and it came with a solid selection of software. I got it when it came with a Guitar Rig Pro, which was a huge bonus. I considered all of the typical budget interfaces and settled on this one because of the variety of inputs/outputs, large volume knob, meters rather than single light, and direct/host adjustment for monitoring. The reviews and YouTube videos convinced me it would be a solid choice for what I wanted – an intro level interface that I wouldn't quickly outgrow. I might have purchased something else if not for the Guitar Rig Pro offer, but I'm really happy with what I got. Important points that I didn't see elsewhere: This has an ASIO driver for Windows so you don't have to use ASIO4All (major plus). Be prepared to tweak settings to get rid of pops/crackles (do research, close everything else, consider saving to a hard drive that doesn't house your OS, might have to be external if you have a laptop). Make sure you are using the right option when you download software (the MK2 option) and upgrade the firmware when you get it. I've had it about a month, and it's a good fit for what I wanted. A bit more than a pure intro level interface that is relatively easy to use. I would not recommend this to someone brand new to recording (the 1 or 2 would like suffice of this brand or one of the others in that 100-150 price range) just because it's likely a bit more than needed. Happy with the purchase and service. Note: 5/5 based on meeting expectations, being a good value, and having good sound quality for an interface for someone looking to get more into recording.LesPaulWoman
I’m a newbie when it comes to audio interfaces, but this is so much better than my PC’s onboard sound. Recording quality using my MXL 770 mic is excellent, low noise and really low overall latency. I’ve had the ASIO buffer as low as 64 samples (2.5 to 3ms) on my 10 year old desktop PC and not had any issues. I like the form factor too, it’s really handing sat on my desk. The volume knob is easily accessible and the other controls feel solid too. I really enjoy the direct monitoring, not from a latency issue as I don’t really notice it much, but from a “conference call perspective” – when on headphones it’s really nice mixing your own voice with everyone else’s when having a group chat. It’s like all being in the same room and feels like the headphones disappear. The free software is nice too, new toy syndrome I know, but I love the reverb plugin! Overall I’m loving this significant upgrade to my system. Will

Reviews:
I like the whole bundle and free DAW. However, I advise any beginners like myself to do your research before purchasing any home studio DAW. What isn't included can cost big bucks. For instance, to run a DAW successfully you'll need a gaming computer. New ones with the RAM, storage, and i7 processor needed to eliminate latency… Then there are the MIDI in and out cables, and cables to run external instruments. I originally bought the presonus bundle for the interface because I was told this would allow me to record from my Beat/Sample machine onto my computer, giving me the ability to share quality recordings with my friends and mentors. Well so far I still can't do that. It's probably on my end, and admit I need to reach out to Tech support. With all that being said, I am happy with my purchases thus far, and will probably continue to use Sweetwater as my go to for the latest gear, and would recommend anyone to shop Sweetwater. There's basically an endless amount of gear to choose from, whether your a DJ, musician, or production pro or beginner.
I am currently using this setup not just to record myself, but also to live stream. The microphone is clear and does not pop at all once you dial it in, and the headphones are the most comfortable set I have ever put on my head. All the components are amazing on their own, but pair it with the studio one subscription, and it makes the entire bundle worth every penny.Zach

Full Disclosure: I purchased on another site. I bought it because the new iPad Pro does not have a headphone jack and I was using the iRig before, and it was the same price(other site)as the iRig Pro I/O, and it came with a mic, XLR cable, and studio headphones. I figured if it wouldn't work with the new iPad, I would use it on my windows based laptop. I did need an adaptor to run the hardware, and went with the multimedia adaptor from Apple witch has usb-c, usb, and HDMI inputs on it. The new iPad even powers the Audiobox, so I didn't even have to run a separate line for power. Just run the power through the adaptor and I'm good to go. It Worked with AmpliTube software. I haven't tried it with the *FREE* Capture Duo software. My biggest gripe was I couldn't figure out how to get the Bluetooth headphones to work for monitoring. So, I had to use some studio headphones direct into the Audiobox. So I think the other iOS user must have missed something. If you are running an iOS device and are looking for an interface, this one will work.Mevogt
I can't fault the equipment in this package. I've only had it a week but the quality of the hardware looks to be good. Headohones are comfortable and the interface is fine. The only thing I would fault is the lack of intstructions, it took me quite a long time and 4 YouTube tutorials before I got everything set up and working. The software is massive, I have only scratched the surface with what it can do, and every time I want to do something new it's back to searching YouTube for tutorials. If you know what you're doing with music recording great, if not expect to be learning for a while.Reviewed by guitarguitar custome

Reviews:
I used to record stuff in my 20s on a Fostex 4 track, then the digital home studio stuff. Forward 30yrs and I'm blown away by the sheer volume oe software available! But by far is the fantastic build quality and usability of the 18i8. Plug anything in and with a bit of experimenting (around 1hr) and I was laying down tracks and editing them. I honestly wish I had purchased one years ago. I bought it to bring my home studio together, drum machine, guitars, keyboard Nd vocals. Love it to bits.clairemarie007
I purchased this as a step up from my old M audio mobile pre. Sound quality is much better and it's quite easy to use. One future I wish it had however was the ability to mute the microphones during play back through the monitors. Also the preamp's have barely sufficient gain to power my SM 81s adequately. Unfortunately Just afterThe warranty. Ended the problem with headphone channel number one appeared it seems I have a loose connection on the PCB And can no longer use that channel. All in all worth the money in my opinion.Bassdan
This product was delivered quickly and safely I am a home studio musician who was looking for something that can handle my small setup of a couple microphones and instrument inputs. This interface exceeded my expectations. The latency when playing through the interface is very low. I'm able to take full advantage of Bias FX 2 now and play in real time with the effects, which has greatly sped up my production time. Running a Shure SM7B into the interface on its own works well. The included pad and air functionality is nice, but I still prefer running the microphone into a Cloudlifter CL-1 first before the interface for some extra brightness. The pad works well to tone back the hiss that can be introduced from the Cloudlifter. For the instrument input, I am running a DI input into the interface so I haven't had to use instrument vs line very much, however the quality is fantastic. The Focusrite software that comes with it is laid out nicely and gives you a full control over what inputs are played back through which pair of headphones. Streaming is now a breeze as I can use the loopback playback to get my system audio and still be able to directly monitor my inputs to ensure the levels are set up properly. TL;DR: It's a fantastic interface. I don't foresee having to upgrade from this anytime soon.

Reviews:
Compact solid unit. Well designed and made. Great provision of inputs and outputs. Sits on the desk nicely alongside the computer. Really good price with masses of usable software. Be aware the software is a mixed blessing. There is so much it is tedious to download. I am really happy. It can do much more but I just wanted it for basic multi-track recording at the work desk.Geoff F.
My application is a dedicated MIDI/audio interface for a VirTual Theater Pipe organ. A MIDIfied console from an actual 1920's Theater pipe organ drives a complex MIDI switching system which in turn drives a sample player. MIDI information is transferred to and from the console, utilizing the USB 96. The audio from the sample player is also output to reverb and power amps via the USB 96, so it has a lot of work to do. The USB 96 never misses a beat with 8-channel two-way MIDI as well a very clean audio stream duplicating all the complexities of a WurliTzer theater organ. The unit replaces both a MidMan Anniversary 2 x 2 which would occasionally give MIDI glitches and a Creative Labs sound card, a necessary move when organ operations were transferred from a desktop to a laptop and from Win7 to Win10. Installation was seamless, and the unit performs perfectly in its application. It works so well, I got a second one for music production on my DAW, which is also used for sample processing for the organ. These devices are rock solid.Les
This is definitely not for beginners or those who are not skilled at technology. I have spent hours trying to get this to work and am still not there. I called Eat my Beats and they referred me to the Presonus company who do not answer calls or return calls so you are on your own with this. A friend who took a college sound class told me it took him 3 weeks to get this to work for him. He wasn't able to help me with mine sadly. It appears that the Studio One DAW that comes with this can do many things which keeps me plugging away. I have until January 12 to return and I may do that yet if others who do sound recordings can't help me get this going. So just beware, if you want to plug it in and start recording right away it won't happen. So far I'm very disappointed.Pat

Reviews:
Beautiful piece of kit, looks great, easy and fun to use, and produces clear professional level sound. but has one major flaw: insufficient gain to run low output dynamic microphones. It worked great, on about 50 percent gain, using my Newer 300 condenser mic and my Blue Yeti Pro. However, I had to crank the gain to 100 percent to get the same volume using my Shure MV7 and Shure SM58. This is unacceptable for two reasons: at full volume some noise creeps into the signal, and there is no headroom. Needs at least another 15 DB. If you want to buy this product, allow for the cost of a signal booster like the Cloudlifter.bloom323
Top price-quality ratio, one of the best offers on the market, a real bargain Focusrite is famous for the quality of its audiointerfaces. They actually don't specialize in mics and headphones, therefore I wasn't sure if they maintain the same high level of specs and quality concerning these parts of the bundle. Fortunately, my prejudice was wrong. All components of the home studio are wonderfull and satisfy the needs of an amateur. Headphones are neutral in terms of equalisation, giving an opportunity for precise mixing and mastering. Additionally, they create a wonderfull effect of volume. Stereo pan is not just form the left to the right, but like 360 degrees around you. Mic is good as well, great gain, precision of tone communication. As for the 2nd generation audiointerface, they minimized the latency (even more), the body is as solid and hard, as it used to be. The software for PC users is better. The only upset is that channel gain is too high. My humbackers made it red at 40%. I'm scared to plug in my active EMG set – it is going to explode.sergeytitovaleks0
The hardware works well. I like the microphone, even though I had read others have not. The controls are good and the lights that show levels work really well. All the features worked immediately with my Macbook and my monitors! The headphones are light and you can wear them for long periods without your ears hurting! I gave it 4 stars because of the software – there's a long list of software that comes with the product (that's great), but most of it is free anyway (like Pro Tools | First). The real pain is that you have to sign up with at least 4 and maybe 5 different web sites (including some kind of odd licensing service) to get the software, and some is incompatible (e.g. the Bias FX you get won't work with Pro Tools | First). This isn't Focusrite's issue, but Pro Tools | First has been a nightmare – not only are the instructions wrong for downloading it, once I was able to download it, it crashes on start up most every time. Pretty poor for a good company like AVID – I have renamed it Pro Tools | Last, since it is likely the last time I use it. Still, I'm very happy with the Focusrite hardware, but I'll need to get software on my own.Dave

A sturdy metal enclosure, 4 full-size XLR inputs, a full LED meter display for each input and output, and the inclusion of their StudioOne DAW make this a winner. If you are starting a podcast on which you anticipate having more than one guest, this a great way to go. Please do note that this interface uses external power (a power supply is included) as opposed to power from a USB port. I deducted one star because the power supply seems cheap.TRAINMAN0703
I owned a Phonic Firefly 302usb. With time Win10 just stopped supporting it after an update (just use it with my laptop, now). Had to upgrade…and I needed SPDIF IN/OUT for my POD XT. To say this interface is amazing is an understatement! It has an app for iOS or Android which let's you control EVERYTHING…REMOTE! In the vocal booth? Behind the kit? In another room? It came with Studio One 4 Artist…which works PERFECTLY with this interface…like, it FULLY uses every bit of the 1810c capabilities! So much so, that since it was missing VST support I decided to upgrade to 5. 5 Artist has VST/VSTi support…but there was an AWESOME sake, so I bought Professional… I've been using Cakewalk for decades…I've tried switching DAWS so many times with little success or even enjoyment/progress…Studio One opened, asked ifvi wanted to use shortcuts from another DAW. I chose Cakewalk…haven't hardly opened Cakewalk since! IT'S THAT GOOD…combined with this interface, you have a MONSTER. You can add a light pipe Mic Preamp and add 8 inputs at 24bit/44,1khz…or 4 @ 48! 16 channels of MIDI…8 regular inputs…plus SPDIF? You can build this up to WHATEVER your needs are! Home studio? Upgrade to a 16 track interface? Run an e-kit, keyboard, foot controllers, all MIDI (and with SPDIF, you still have used NONE of the 8 inputs! With the multiple outs, I can run to my mixer, my near field monitors, AND my far field monitors! No rewiring or problems… IF THIS FITS YOUR NEEDS, it is TOTALLY worth it! Comes with Studio One Artist and LOTS of built in and free plug-ins and instruments…plus MORE CAN BE BOUGHT! If I didn't already have a BUNCH of VSTs and BFD 3 (and every expansion…way too much money to "just switch"), I wouldn't have upgraded.CheapGearGuy
I have two rooms for recording and I have used the Yamaha interface and the PreSonus Audiobox USB 96. The Yamaha does not interface as well as the Audiobox USB 96 in that the microphone and trach and channel separation is not as good. It may be issue I had with setup, but the once I tried the Audiobox 96 it was much easier. I do like the multiple inputs of the Yamaha though. When I saw the PreSonus 68c and the additional inputs (and midi inputs) I was interested to see how that compared to the Audibox 96.The 2 Presonus interfaces work very well and very much the same. So if you want a few extra features and additional inputs that are conveniently located in front and back of the unit, the 68c is worth the little extra money.
