Best 15 Inch Guitar Speaker (2024 Update)

Overall: It is smooth sounding. It is very bassy sounding to me by itself. I have it paired with a 1275 and the two together sound better than either by itself. They cancel out each others weaknesses and sound even more mellow. I don't know how to describe the sound very well. (I like Eminence speakers because they say Designed and assembled in the US.)Tyrell

The Eminence 1518 15" speaker for guitar amplifiers is a great performer and on nobody's radar. Big, full sound it's very good alone and can be a revelation when used in conjuction with brighter 10s and 12s. For reference it has a somewhat similar tonality to a Canabis Rex but bigger and stronger. You will not have to ever worry about pushing this guy too hard. It can take whatever amp you've got.cdawg22

I have a Rumble 1 x 15 cabinet. I wanted to upgrade from the Eminence-Made for Fender speaker. At the advise of an Eminence Tech I purchased the CB158. It sounds great! Clear deep tones I plan on buying a second Rumble 1 x 15 cabinet and I'll upgrade that one also! The sale price made it a great value!Chuck

You can experience quite a bit of satisfaction when a product you paid a fair amount of money for just plain works. And boy does this speaker work. The solid bass tones that come out of this baby has brought my 80s something Fender Bassman Compact back to life. I was happy all the bolt holes lined up with the pre drilled holes of the amp. The only little drawback is that it has made my amp heavier. Not a bad trade off for the quality sound that this speaker delivers.Darren

I refurbished an Ampeg 115hp bass cabinet and installed a CB158 15". The speaker provides tremendous frequency response, tight solid bottom end with crisp clean highs. I no longer use the horn in the cabinet…there is no need. I highly recommend this speaker to get the most out of a bass rig. It also pairs very well with my Ampeg PF210HE.Francis L

For the price, this speaker is a great choice. The DBR10 has very bright & clear mid range when using the FOH/main DSP setting. This setting also has has some low end boost. I would recommend using the DBR10 paired with a Yamaha sub bass for a complete full range system The speaker cab is plastic and not as robust as DXR range. However, this is not a deal breaker. In reality it is lightweight , looks tidy and a low cost cover will stop scratches. I bought 6 of the DBR10 to use for background music at weddings. They do the job and more . The high pass filters were great for this purpose as it reduces unwanted low rumble and they performed brilliantly for vocal mic when used for speaches / ceremony. Would I recommend ? Yes . DBR10 is perfect for people wanting quality clear sound but working within a budget .paul l.

I currently own a set of Mackie SRM 350 V3's, and I'm very happy with them. I'm a dj and I'm trying to downsize my system and make it more compact, but loud and not compromise the sound. So I've been using my Mackie's with my Yamaha DXS12 MKII sub, and it works great, but the spl's on the Mackie's we're insufficient for some of my larger venues. I decided to go with the DBR10's cause I've noticed the specs for the frequency response were close enough, but what caught my attention was the 129db max spl! So I bought a pair, great job on shipping time B&H, and once I hooked them up and began to crank them, I was blown away by the sound quality, but especially how loud and transparent they sounded! Very pristine and accurate sound like my RCF's, but not at RCF prices, lol! I've been djing 40 years and I've been thru many brands of speakers, these Yamaha DBR10's are now my favorite! Compact, loud, but very clear! They can be used without a sub for small venues and rock them! With my Yamaha sub, forget about it! They are a perfect match, and they all fit in my trunk! As a dj I needed these speakers after my Mackie SRM 450's started getting fuzzy after 10 years of putting them through the ringer. Actually one is still perfect but one distorts when I turn it up. Anyway. I bought these to replace the Mackie's They sound great overall. Very open sound. Doesn't sound like it's coming from a speaker. Mid's and High's are perfect. Bass is tight and clear but not pronounced. I ran the bass all the way up and they still didn't push as much as the 450's with a 12" and these are 15". Keep in mind the old 450's are only like 450 watts. These are 1000 with 2000 peak. Overall though. I paid twice as much for the other and these are very very close at half the price. I would recommend these. Always have to remember most people don't care about the sound as much as the energy and volume. Which is a balancing act as well.DJ :Todd

For the money, you won't find a better speaker. I tried these and the Mackie Thumps…hands down, these sounded significantly better. The high end and mids really come through well. The bass is good, but you'll most likely still want a sub with these. That said, these are still able to perform really well. These are truly 1000W RMS…they are LOUD! I run them about 1/2 with a room of around 150 people with no problems at all. The vocals, guitars and keys come through very nicely. I back off the low EQ of the kick drum just a bit, and they hold up well! Overall, these speakers are great for a variety of different settings. Get a pair now before they go up in price!Shane

Having done a lot of research and finding myself unable to afford Yamaha DXR range, I can safely say that these are an excellent cheaper option for this who want quality and power in a full range compact PA speaker. It's really very good and hasn't disappointed. It's not one to be left to other people to look after though as the combined gains for music and mic mean that one could easily blow the tops if you don't understand what you're doing with the gains. Personally not an issue for me, but maybe not ideal for use as unattended hire speakers. Other than that, no qualms at all about recommending this speaker. I'm pairing them with an Alto sub and the sound is really quite excellent.marttrish

Rec'd from MF by free shipping in 2 days. Factory sealed packaging. Installed as a replacement in an SWR Son of Bertha 15" cabinet. Took less than 10 minutes, fit like a glove. This speaker is as close to the original SWR factory specs as I could find, except higher wattage and higher sensitivity rating. Driven with a GK MB800, EQ'd flat at 1/2 output it performed effortlessly. Round, rich and warm tone. Precise and articulate. Made my 8 year old cab brand new again.3rdBass

A friend and I have a high-wattage sound system located in his heated pole barn. We didn't spend a lot, but we like the results we're getting. We put the 4018LFs in two Peavey 118 boxes, to which we added some fiber-fill, but did no other mods. We drive them with a Behringer NU6000 at 4-Ohms, bridged mode. It's plenty of power. We're using the sub output from a Behringer Ultragraph Pro FBQ1502HD, crossed over at 100Hz. We play LPs, CDs, and SACDs. The 4018LFs sound great! I hope this helps you decide.Michael

I have a very old pair of Peavey TF115 loudspeakers driven by a Peavey 1.3K (400W per channel at 8 ohms) that I use both as a PA and stereo guitar amp. Not the greatest stuff, but it gets the job done and has done so daily since the 90's until I recently overdrove the horn and tore a nice gash in my woofer being careless with my tools. My first thought was to replace them, but I decided to rebuild one before dropping big bucks on new cabs. For starters, the magnet on this beast is twice the weight and size of the Peavey and my first reaction was — UH OH — I'm gonna need way more power! However to my suprise, I am pleased to say this thing rocks and really packs a thumping punch! Running the old versus the new side by is night and day. If you want a deep clean bottom end punch that is crisp and sharp, this will get the job done. The sound is very clear and the lows are extremely clean. There is no doubt that this woofer is handling the power with ease and can take much more abuse than her old twin sister. I have no other option but to rebuild the second unit now. Extremely pleased with he value of this purchase…Just make sure you have enough power to drive it or it may not budge!Hitman

The Eminence Legend CA154 was called on to replace another "legend," the 15" factory-installed Jensen bass speaker found inside the Leslie Model 21H and its iconic kin. Rated at just 20W, the aging and under-powered Jensen's best days were long behind it. The Eminence has proven itself to be an able and affordable replacement. It's being fed nearly all of those rated 300W from an external amplifier. And it handles the job without a hint of a whimper, producing a deep, clean, window-rattling bass even when dialed to 11 and beyond. For the money, maybe the best speaker out there.Gary

Bought two of the Eminence Legend CA-154 15" Bass Guitar Speakers to replace the originals in my pair of Traynor BLOC-80B bass amps and they sound great. These replacements have the correct specs with twice the signal carrying capacity of the original speakers. One of my original speaker died after may years of great bass sound.Stoney

Upgraded two Orange PPC108 cabinets to these speakers to use with my Micro Terror head. Speakers have better high end definition than the stock speakers (Voice of the World) in the PPC108. There is no speaker distortion with this setup which I would sometimes get out of the stock speakers. Excellent upgrade for the price. 16Ohm load allowed me to tune the setup to allow 2 speakers with my Micro Terror (8 Ohm minimum load version).Aaron

I bought a new Fender Mustang 1 v2 practice amp which sounded very good out of the box. However, this speaker really warmed up the midrange and gave some sparkle to the highs. Well worth the price for my application.Dane

This is a replacement for a bass combo amplifier and it sounds better than the original. I was going to swap this out when the original came back from reconing, but will keep it as is and use the original in an extension cabinet.Pushes the low notes without overtones and cuts through the room. This is literally a guitar speaker that can handle bass frequencies. As a bass speaker it will start distorting at higher volumes. That being said, this driver sounds amazing as a guitar driver, and should be marketed as such.Joel

A bit pricey. Other subs my handle more wattage, but the clarity is outstanding. I don't want to be heard blocks away, I just want a nice low end, however I can do both. I have it shoehorned into the back of a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS. It's in a 4ft³ enclosure, ported to 32hz, but I can also run sealed by putting a plug in the port for a tight bass. Sealed has always been better for my style of music: rock and metal. No mechanical wattage problems in a sealed box that big either. Another reason for the purchase, the specs showing the mechanical and power wattage are the same. You loose no mechanical wattage in a bigger box when sealed. Running the Kicker 1200.1 mono. External battery. Rockville 30 farad cap.Buzzard

I bought one of these speakers here at MF about 4 years ago and with this sale price, it is even less expensive now! This powered monitor is a true workhorse and it has enormous headroom. I have used this speaker in many musical applications and it has performed flawlessly. I bought a Harbinger 4112, last year and played a Yamaha P-515 directly straight into the back of each speaker, rather than into a mixing console/board. I did a mono, one speaker comparison. The Harbinger did have better frequency response, yet was much more harsh sounding. This Alto sounds smooth and warm and I have never needed to turn it past unity gain. This monitor is on sale right now and I can not recommend buying it, enough. The listed 1000 watts RMS are real, and the drivers can handle the power with ease. The only point of contention is that they do scratch very easily and so I would find a good generic extra sized tote for each monitor and wrap each one with a thin blanket before placing them inside for transporting. Highly recommend this product, especially at this very reduced sale price.NoteJunkie

Very pleased with this ALTO Ts310 It is a great product I’ve had the 8 inch and a 10 inch and I love to know what the 15inch sounds like. Also own QSC K-series speakers two and the Bose L1S system. I know a thing or two about sound Quality. If these speakers are reliable I can see me buying many more of these for the music sessions I do. I can leave these in the boot of my car and get in from a GIG to my family and not have to unload the whole car, they are nice and compact and have plenty of power for an all nighter in a normal size pub. In fact the sound quality has made me compare this to Speakers three times the price, in my situation I don’t need to push the sound too loud so that the audience is uncomfortable for me although they have for 2000 W available I only use about 25% of that in the small venues I run. I purchased the TS312 as basically a "second attempt" to find an all-around speaker for home practice using my HX Stomp (modeling pedal), as well as synths, drum machines, and some bass guitar. I first purchased the HeadRush FRFR-108, which was a new release as a smaller version of last year's FRFR-112. (The FRFR-112 and TS312 are essentially the exact same speaker – the HeadRush is just marketed towards use with guitar modelers). But the FRFR-108 was a pretty big disappointment – the low end was flabby and distorted, even within the typical frequency range of guitars. And trying to run bass guitar or deep frequencies from a synth or keyboard was essentially a non-starter. The Alto TS312 excels in all of the areas that the FRFR-108 failed me. It has massive low end when placed on the floor as a "wedge" monitor, but retains clarity and articulation even at lower practice volumes. Modelers like the Helix can cover a huge variety of tonal genres, and the TS312 accurately conveys those sounds while feeling mostly like a "real amp". The only real downside to the TS312 is that at 35 pounds and approximately 2 feet in width, it's not quite as compact as I had hoped. But it's also not significantly bulkier than a 12" guitar combo (or certainly a 2×12" like a Fender Twin or Vox AC30). With the giant handles on all sides, it's also much easier to move around. And unlike a guitar amplifier, a good FRFR/PA speaker can be used with a variety of instruments, including guitar, bass, synth, drum machines, and vocals. This Alto unit seems to be a pretty good value and I hope to get many years of good use out of it.Jeff H

I use them for mobile DJ/events where I don't need insane sound pressure, so for my purposes the bass is adequate and how I like it – relatively tight. I pair this with a Serato/Pioneer DDJ SR set-up and the sound quality is great. I also use them at home for music listening and karaoke nights. My music collection is pretty diverse, and so far everything from Philip Glass to the Freelance Whales to RJD2 sounds solid on them at volume. But if you need high levels of sound pressure and play a lot of EDM, then you will probably want a sub. When I was on the fence about the purchase, I noticed that a very talented local Jazz combo was using them for live performances where they were delivering great clarity and tonal characteristics on all of the instruments. While that wasn't my personal use, it sealed the deal. While I have been impressed with the sound quality and output of QSC products, these give you nearly all of the bang for half the buck.Pfatte D

If that's the case, then stop looking, because you've found your new speakers. I have owned several comparable Behringer and Mackie speakers, and let me say, there is no comparison. When comparing stats of comparable speakers (watts, sensitivity, frequency range, etc.), you could drive yourself mad just trying to figure out where the bang for your buck will be. But after hearing these, I can confidently say they are: 1) LOUD – Coming from my mixer I had various XLR, line-in, and aux signal levels at -6 db to 0 db, and given a good signal like that, I had the speaker set at -10 db and it sounded great and just loud enough for all the bars and what not my 4-piece rock/pop band plays…then when you up the speaker to 0 db or more, it just gets stupid loud. There is a point where it gets harsh and high, but you'll just never get there. It's that loud. 2) VERSATILE – I love the DSP settings, and the ability to set EQ (at least high and low). It would work well as a monitor, but I use it for mains. I use it on "music" mode, and I bump the bass EQ up +3 db. It's certainly not a sub, and it drops off quick at anything lower that 100hz, but I find it has enough bass to carry a band in a small bar setting. Just get them up high on some poles so that people's bodies don't absorb too much of it. 3) CLEAR and TRANSPARENT – I don't know if it's the split baffle or the DSP or what, but the high and low frequencies sound separated, clear, and whole. It sounds so good. Compared to my old Behringers or Mackie Thumps, it is just a more whole sound profile. It's as if your signal is running through a BBE exciter or something. Only complaint is a little bit of hiss/noise floor from the horn when the speaker is set anything above -6 db on the master. Even outdoors, where sound evaporates into the air, these speakers have enough punch to fill an acre and a cover a crowd of 300 with exceptional clarity. They easily handle indoor performances. I do a lot of finger-picking, and these speakers are perfectly balanced to pick up every note. They also cover vocals with astonishing clarity, which is critical for a solo act. The audience will hear every word, and the speaker clarity highlights every intonation you put into your vocals. These speakers give you more control as performer. Other musicians have approached me following a show and asked me how I get my PA sound so crisp and clean. Use high quality gold cables to eliminate minor hiss and deliver a strong line signal (obscenely expensive for cables, but worth it). I also use a mixer for EQ adjustment, compression, and a very small touch of reverb. If you perform a lot, I'd also recommend getting the speaker covers. While the plastic cabinets are relatively light and easy to transport and lift onto the poles, they scuff easily. To keep them looking nice, invest in the covers. Most speakers sound pretty good at low volumes in a small room, making comparisons nearly impossible. So kudos to Sam Ash, where I could compare speakers from 100 feet away (where your audience will be).Solo perfomer

Clear sound. I purchased this one to replace an old TOA from the 90's. The tone is much better. I used it for a gig and it sounded great. I also used it to dj a large party. The trapezoid shape makes it easy to use as a stage monitor with one concern, watch for feedback from the large tweeter. We spun the tweeter away from the mic and now the drummer can hear at rehearsals. It uses 1/4" jacks with an output to chain if needed. I plan on getting a matching speaker after the next gig.JOHN

I have 2 pairs of the S115V , I also have the Peavey PV115. The Yamaha's handle 100/watts more per/channel each. They are good for a small or medium size room . They can handle bass as long as your overall volume is not cranked up across everything in the mix. If you want deep base for dance music or mic'ing a bass drum, use an active cross over and two sub-woofers. These are 99DB and the clarity is good with decent bite. If you have the cash and want the clarity that comes out and gets you at three times the cash for the JBL's at 137DB . Now don't think I mean the S115V's wont reach out there. It is only because you cannot use a higher volume amp that gives you instantaneous punch like 137DB gives you. But these speakers will do twice the room as the Yamaha's.I have had my first set of S115V's for 10 years. The only reason I am reviewing is that Kustom and most of the DJ marketed stuff is not as good and that is why it is cheaper. I would not go below a 1)Peavey/Cerwin Vega speaker then 2) Yamaha's 3) QSC/JBL/Yorkvilles/others. Peavey does have higher end array speakers as does Yamaha that are comparable to QSC/JBL/Yorkvilles but at the same price and lower DB's ? For those prices I would go with the JBL's. When you get to looking at specs they all claim the same power speakers for around the same prices in the different product lines. Always check the SPL and the peak power rating's to decide . Much of the DJ gear is like car audio rating's which are exaggerated or represent a certain frequency for 2 seconds before it blows : ) Now there is even higher end gear above what I have mentioned . This of course is my opinion but I think it is real world experience from years of doing audio.Duncan

I got these to replace a pair of Peavy 12's I had for years. let me be one of many to tell you. they are exactly the kind of thing a DJ/KJ could want. the highs Are a bit harsh, however, it is a goot thing in a vocal situation where the singer has a deeper voice or the mic is a bit muddy. In DJ mixes, it is not an obsticle. just watch your highs. I personally had them modified to bi-amp, but that is a need of mine and not something I hold against Yamaha. it is an amazing peice of gear for those who can lift it. it is bulky, and not something you want to put in a car. at small gigs, with enough eq you wont need a sub assuming you can crank it. if your max volume will be in question, use a sub.yes there are better speakers out there, but do not expect to pay less for them. with live music I would go with the 215 version, or some really good instrument mics. but if these are in you're price range they wont dissapoint unless you are used to RCFs and QSCs, in that case, what are you doing here? for you newer DJs, these are a great stepping stone onyour way to those higher end pieces. and they will last. However, I would recomend removing the cloth when it gets older and spray it with truck bed liner.ProSonic LIVE!

I've used the old MRX line for a few years now and love the way they sound for FOH. I bought these to replace some Yamaha SM12Vs that I used for monitors and the PRX412Ms sound great, far superior to the Yamahas. I haven't tried for FOH, but I like the idea of being able to fly them if needed with the suspension points.Chris

We got these back in August, replacing some old cabinests we had for years. These sound awesome, crisp, clear, and so lightweight. Love the rugged grill and cab. Have played out a few times and they work great, plan on getting the matching monitors next. Great stuffBISON

A lot much better then the single 18 inch 1500 watt edition and has a lot more power and much more bass than the single 18. Only downside is its 30 lbs heavier then the first product. But is very power conservative and very easy to use even the non tech savvy could figure it out .colton.l

I just purchased these speakers last week. My first gig out was a wedding. Before with my pr15 peavey speakers people would say the music was really good. Overall: I got a pair of the dual 15's we run vocals, guitar & keyboards and two 18' sub's PRX418s we run kick drum & bass my best investment yet in speakers. They are so crystal clear and out perform the other speakers we had. We're in the process of adding two more 18' subs. No problems yet we don't have to push the speaks. I bought a pair of these for my home studio, these things are amazing and worth every penny. My whole studio is wired with Mogami Gold Cables which also makes a huge difference. If you want a pair of killer speakers at an awesome price, buy a pair of these JBLs. You won't be disappointed.Daniel

I was pushing 500w rms through this thing through break in, and it was meh. Not impressed. Then went to 1200w RMS and my. my. my. I could barely see the road from the vibrations at 40hz. It reaches down and grabs a handful of short and curlies. Also make sure your box is reinforced, it'll shake apart in no time.tall_dee

Bought this cause I had the L5's and blew them with a new amp. These speakers are way better than I would have expected. I mean I knew the quality was going to be good but the sound quality was out of this world great. The price is a little high but in the end the product is overall very much worth it. Have fun setting some car alarms off!!CWing420

I only had enough space for one sub of this size so I wanted to use the solo baric. I've had several models thru the years & they always perform well. This little L7 dvc 8" handles the huge amp I put on it & does it like a champ. Unbelievable quality bass, & it compares to other setups using 2 10's or one 12" sub! Kicker Solo Barics subs still kickin a__!!! Great sub & well worth the cost. Thanks a lot Kicker. Great product as expected.chahane-9
