Received my order 3 days after my order on a Wednesday. Have not had very much time to play with it. Have it paired with a Fender 2×10" Rumble cab. This 15" cab provides a much needed bottom that the Rumble(lots of mid)does not give. I plan to use this for larger indoor/outdoor venues that the Rumble will not cover. Using an Ampeg PF 350 head so this and the Rumble are well within the power handling of 350 watts at 4 ohms.Peter M.
Great addition to my rig. Prior to purchase I was playing an Ampeg PF 350 into a Rumble 2×10" cab. I was lacking some bottom end, the Rumble was a little weak there but is good for mid to high end. This cabinet exceeded what I was looking for, strong bottom end. I'm using both as a stack with the 15" cab on the bottom. I've only used it for practice but have an upcoming outdoor gig. You can experience quite a bit of satisfaction when a product you paid a fair amount of money for just plain works. And boy does this speaker work. The solid bass tones that come out of this baby has brought my 80s something Fender Bassman Compact back to life. I was happy all the bolt holes lined up with the pre drilled holes of the amp. The only little drawback is that it has made my amp heavier. Not a bad trade off for the quality sound that this speaker delivers.Darren
I refurbished an Ampeg 115hp bass cabinet and installed a CB158 15". The speaker provides tremendous frequency response, tight solid bottom end with crisp clean highs. A bit pricey. Other subs my handle more wattage, but the clarity is outstanding. I don't want to be heard blocks away, I just want a nice low end, however I can do both. I have it shoehorned into the back of a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS. It's in a 4ft³ enclosure, ported to 32hz, but I can also run sealed by putting a plug in the port for a tight bass. Sealed has always been better for my style of music: rock and metal. No mechanical wattage problems in a sealed box that big either. Another reason for the purchase, the specs showing the mechanical and power wattage are the same. You loose no mechanical wattage in a bigger box when sealed. Running the Kicker 1200.1 mono. The main thing is the sound: this has a low resonant frequency which makes the low E and A strings clear but not "boomy" or indistinct. It smoothes out the D and G strings with more even response. Electric bassists know the problem: The top two strings (especially the G) usually have a much brighter timbre. We've learned to adapt to that anomaly with tenth-intervals, thumb & pop technique plus finger-picking techniques. However, it SURE is NICE to have a speaker that automatically helps us use those high strings without so much annoying change in tone.The midrange is strong and over most of the fingerboard now. Highs are definitely there, but they are more balanced, less "peaky". That makes notes in the middle range (of Bass) more punchy. The bass doesn't get "lost" when you play a bit higher.Of course many players want the lighter-weight of Neodymium. This delivers. I just used it as a replacement in an old Fender cab, so I know that was the only difference. If you put this in a modern lightweight Baltic Birch cab, you could reduce weight even more.To qualify this opinion I can say that there is ONE speaker I like better for tone, which is the EV 15 bass speaker. I LOVE that sound, but I hate the weight.This delivers most (80%) of what the EV does sonically, but without the hefty price tag or threat of hernia. The Eminence 1518 15" speaker for guitar amplifiers is a great performer and on nobody's radar. Big, full sound it's very good alone and can be a revelation when used in conjuction with brighter 10s and 12s. For reference it has a somewhat similar tonality to a Canabis Rex but bigger and stronger. You will not have to ever worry about pushing this guy too hard. It can take whatever amp you've got.cdawg22

I have been a bassist for 55 years. I've worked pro audio in television. I own a small P.A. company. I have used many 15's over the years. Altec-JBL-EV. This Celestion Pulse 15 compares to all of them and at a much lower price. I would compare its tonality to the JBL M-151 but it sounds better and is about 8 lbs lighter. When you roll your tone knob on your bass the pulse 15 responds beautifully. The mids are perfectly balanced all through the tone range, be it an active or passive bass. The high end is crisp with tight low end. Truly a remarkable speaker for its price, tone, and under 11 lb weight! It has NO completion for what it offers in this price range. It sounds much like a JBL-M151. I installed it in a JBL G734 pa cab after blocking the horn opening. This cab is well built quality ply, light and only 12" deep. Many bass cabs are just too deep. How much low end do you really need in a bar setting? Too much low end becomes overbearing and lost in a live situation . I purchased this sub to replace my current Klipsch R-100SW. I need just a bit more fill for my room size. My room is a 17 by 28 foot room. I was actually extremely disappointed in the sound of this sub. It lacked the punch the 10" already provide. If you turn up the SPL150 15" sub the ported enclosure had way to much distortion to the point of annoyance. This 15" I would say should be purchased for feel more than volume. I also would say it's more of a five hundred dollar subwoofer not a twelve hundred for that reason. I ended up purchasing another R-100SW for the full and I am extremely satisfied. I would say this should be purchased as perhaps a third woofer for low ends vs fill or replacement purposes. I have two of these (a bit extravagant), paired with RF 7s and a McIntosh amplifier. With cut off and level adjustments, these permit flat response across the entire audible spectrum, no detectable distortion, no detectable cross over effects, and I have a very critical ear. This is one of the most pleasant audio reproduction systems I have ever heard – anywhere. The lack of any distortion, and perfect frequency response, is just phenomenal. I use these for classical (absolute concert hall quality), Celtic, folk, and a lot in between, and Klipsch just provides concert hall quality for all of these. If you love music, hate distortion, and just want to hear perfect reproduction like you were there for a live performance, then these are the best I have ever heard, they rival the actual concert hall. Highly recommended. As for value, this kind of quality, with no detectable distortion, is priceless to me, but I think they are fairly valued.

I load too many speakers. I believe in Eminence Delta series for several applications. I currently deploy Delta LFA for low frequency support, Delta Pro series for their range and power for PA support, and Delta A for monitors and smaller venue mains. They are reliably consistent and handle power and abusive cartage. Good useable range for any application.

I thought it was time to upgrade my speakers. So I took a spontaneous plunge into investing on a pair of PRX815Ws. Since I still own my EONs, I had to do a side by side comparison. I gotta say, it makes a big difference in sound quality. The EONs have a narrow sounding sound that when you pair up two of them, you won’t really notice a difference. But the PRX have a wide expansive clear tone to them, even when playing a single one. The Bass to both series are similar, but the loudness of the PRX makes the difference in an overall sound. Bass, Mids and Highs all upgrade the sound from the EONs to the PRX. I don’t see myself going back to EONs again, but I still have respect for them. Awesome built speakers by JBL!Luis
I have the 2 15’s of these. I wanted to add 2 12’s that can be used as monitors at larger DJ gigs or just a small add on for weddings. I almost feel like I like these 12 inch speakers better than the 15 inch ones. Great sound. Low end is great! They are lightweight (great for transporting) I highly suggest getting the covers. These are amazing looking but from my experience before it’s easier to keep them from getting scuffed or scratch with the covers. I highly recommend these for anyone looking for some small PA speakers that can produce some big sound or someone looking to add some extra thump to the DJ booth as monitors. A confusing and frustrating PRX Connect app knocks a star off an otherwise great sounding speaker. I was ready to repack these bad boys and return them, but a cooler head prevailed and I dug deep into how to make the PRX Connect work. You will need a router in order for it (PRX Connect) to work or you will be left with a speaker that isn't properly EQ'ed and will leave it sounding flat. What even makes it more frustrating is that the app isn't compatible for cellphones, but work on either iOS or Android tablets…they need to make it where it works with cellphones as well, then this will be a 5 star product.The goods of these speakers are that they are very capable of reaching clear and high volumes when set up properly. They can get very touchy when not set accordingly to your equipment and will trigger the clip light. Great looking and professional design. You can use it as a stage monitor (horizontally) or on speaker stands vertically. I like that it has two positions for the speaker pole to mount into, either the speaker sits straight or slightly angled down. I used a pair of these and an EV ELX200-18SP sub and it sounded solid! The guests loved it, but those that sat closer to the speakers say that it was at times a bit too loud.The only con I can think of is that these things have a good amount of weight behind them. What do you expect from wood cabinet speakers.Over all these speakers are excellent for any genre of music. I cannot comment on how they sound with electric instruments. Sound: Sound I great, i use them i a 5 piece rock/cover band. They sound fantastic! Features: EV did a great job umproving these with a bigger amp. Been using them for nearly 6 months and we havent made them limit yet! Ease of Use: Super easy, basically plug and play. You can controll them with the EV app to. This would be great for a DJ or someone using these without a mixing board. Quality: These seem very reliable so far. Its EV so you know its quality. However, on one of the cabinet's I recieved, the LED light on the front of the speaker didn't work. Not a huge deal, but I sent it back and zZounds sent me a new on in just a couple days! Value: I think its a great value. Nice to know that my speakers won't clip or get to hot. I know $599 is a lot of money, but these are worth it, and with 12 months to pay its not that bad! Manufacturer Support: They were great. The LED on one of the cabs didnt work. They were more than happy to take care of it, but zZounds just replaced it for me. Almost hassle free! The Wow Factor: They look as great as they sound! Also, they are pretty light to! I can easily grab 2 at once and carry them into the club. Overall: I run sound for my rock cover band. I upgraded to these from the ZLX. I am so glad I did! If you are wondering if they are loud enough or if they are louder than the zlx, the answer is yes. However, not a ton louder. What is great though is that at high volumes the dont clip, like ever. I have been using these for almost 6 months now and I havent made them limit once, compared to my Zlx that limited every show a lot. The sound quality at high volume it great also, the highs are nice and crisp but it still has pretty good low end for a 12 inch speaker (I use a sub with mine). I honestly dont have any complaints about them right now. I think they are a high quality EV product and will last a long time.Erik
Overall: In building a super compact light PA system I came across these EV's. I was thinking that the JBL EON 610 was the lighter smaller choice. The other guitar player got the JBL and I went for the EV. The EV sounds better and is less prone to feedback as a monitor. It's a better product and matches well as mains or monitors.

A friend and I have a high-wattage sound system located in his heated pole barn. We didn't spend a lot, but we like the results we're getting. We put the 4018LFs in two Peavey 118 boxes, to which we added some fiber-fill, but did no other mods. We drive them with a Behringer NU6000 at 4-Ohms, bridged mode. It's plenty of power. We're using the sub output from a Behringer Ultragraph Pro FBQ1502HD, crossed over at 100Hz. We play LPs, CDs, and SACDs. The 4018LFs sound great! I hope this helps you decide.Michael
I have a very old pair of Peavey TF115 loudspeakers driven by a Peavey 1.3K (400W per channel at 8 ohms) that I use both as a PA and stereo guitar amp. Not the greatest stuff, but it gets the job done and has done so daily since the 90's until I recently overdrove the horn and tore a nice gash in my woofer being careless with my tools. My first thought was to replace them, but I decided to rebuild one before dropping big bucks on new cabs. For starters, the magnet on this beast is twice the weight and size of the Peavey and my first reaction was — UH OH — I'm gonna need way more power! However to my suprise, I am pleased to say this thing rocks and really packs a thumping punch! Running the old versus the new side by is night and day. If you want a deep clean bottom end punch that is crisp and sharp, this will get the job done. The sound is very clear and the lows are extremely clean. There is no doubt that this woofer is handling the power with ease and can take much more abuse than her old twin sister. I have no other option but to rebuild the second unit now. This thing is a monster for the price why would you buy anything else. I got one of these and built a custom ported box tuned at 32hz powered by a audiopipe 1800 watt amp and it hits so hard and low just 1 is flexing my windows in my expedition. I am buying another one right now I love these things. They have just as much power as a 900$ jl w7 does. And these are heavy beast speakers and I mean heavy!! Like 50lbs and are built like a steel house. I have had this speaker for years in a variety of cabs! Fabulous tone and low end. Never an ounce of trouble. It is very heavy but worth it in the service It has given me. Excellent wattage handling ability. Highly recommended! I originally purchased to replace a JBL speaker which had wonderful tone but bottomed out easily.Gary
I built some very nice 4 cubic foot boxes back about 1990 for the JBL 2226H. The box porting (JBL's recommendation) was supposed to have an fb of 30 hertz, but reverse engineering shows it to be more like 38 hertz. The JBL is a great sounding mid-bass speaker, but rolls off too much below 60 hertz.I tried the Peavey LowRider 15, great deep bass but poor midrange musicality. It is specifically a subwoofer. I plan to build some extended sub boxes for them.The Eminence Kappa Pro 15LF2 with a fs of 35 hz has turned out to be the answer. Seems flat down to 40 hertz with good linear mid-bass. I am bi-amplified with 30 hz high pass and 800 hz low pass using two old Crown D150A Series II amps bridged in mono. The high end is old Altec drivers on JBL 2370 horns, with a Selenium supertweeters (passive crossover at 5K hz).These are the best sounding loudspeakers I have ever heard for my types of music (hard rock, blues, country, etc). Probably not the choice for a classical music listener, but they definitely rock.JD Letson, PE - 19328
