Reviews:
This capo is very well made. I have many different type of capos but this one will replace the "clip-on" K style ones. While I keep my guitars set up and intonation spot on, capos can still "pull" strings, giving a slightly sour sound. This one does not do that. It's small shape may make some concerned but the squareness allows you to get perfect fit between neck and fret. I use it on acoustic primarily, but also on electric.John
This is a great capo: solid construction, made of stainless steel so won't rust, and works well. It is a lot neater than the images suggest and is light enough not to be noticeable when fitted to the neck of my dreadnought guitars. It is also unobtrusive, so does not get in the way of your fretting hand. Some reviewers suggest that this capo is fiddly to fit, but I have found the opposite: once adjusted for your guitar neck it can be fitted or removed in a second. Highly recommended (by the way, delivery was lightning fast)cpes31
I bought this to replace my older Shubb that has given many, many years of service. This one, with the roller, works even better. What I love about these is the ease of tension adjustment. I use this one on my 12 string Gretsch which is easy to bend out of tune with a standard capo, but the Shubb allows for just the right tension on the strings to keep it in tune. This is well worth the few pounds of extra outlay for the flexibility and quality.fireglo360

Reviews:
When using a capo it is necessary that it provide enough tension to keep the strings, especially the bass strings, from buzzing. Any more tension than the minimum necessary to accomplish that does tend to de-tune the guitar by raising its pitch. The Shubb design is the only capo that I have ever used or seen that can be precision adjusted to apply just enough tension to effect the key change without unnecessary de-tuning. All other designs use springs to apply the tension so must be designed to always apply enough tension where the neck is thinnest so must apply more than the minimum necessary. The Shubb has no springs and its tension is fully adjustable. It is also compact and stays out of the players way when being used.Stan

Adjustable tension is very important for a nylon-string capo unless you want to spend all your time retuning the guitar. I already own the older version with the pin and it's been my capo of choice. This newer version with the wheel is even better, easier to adjust, and for some reason cheaper. It's almost unbreakable (like any capo made of metal) so it's worth the extra money as long as you don't lose it.

All of the following is with the capo being used on a Taylor 254ce 12 string guitar. Other guitars might have other results, but it fits just fine on my This one works perfectly for being able to keep your 12 string tuned to eb standard or d standard and quickly, accurately, and dependably go to the first or second fret and be in tune with your 6 string co-jammers. True, if you go up to the seventh fret or so some tuning/retuning becomes necessary, but c'mon…even with the compensated pad it can't do EVERYTHING. In any event, 99 times out of a hundred I'm just wanting it on the first or second fret anyway, and it's PERFECT for that.
Have played a 12 string for 40 years. Capos have always been a big problem, and I've tried them all. Why didn't anyone think of this concept before now? Fabulous product. No need to re tune at all. First position chords always sound best on a 12er, and now I can play them in any key. Job well done. DLP.. icatmor45
This promises a new material to work on 12-strings which provide a dissimilar string height and diameter due to octave strings on the E through G strings. Its only drawback is the 'travel' of the compression mechanism. With the adjustment screw fully in it does not provide enough leverage to completely compress the strings to the frets on my RainSong 12 string thus rendering it completely ineffective. I would imagine on a Taylor and other very thin necks the same thing would occur. I padded the bottom 'tongue' with various materials and can make it work, and then the 'new material' of the compression surface actually works very well – so on a fat neck like a Washburn (c-neck) this might be a great device. However for the price (compared to a Shub or other 12-string specific capo) I would label this as having poor design qualities (needs a bigger opening and longer adjustment screw) and cannot give it a good rating nor recommend it.Dave

Not being able to mount the Schubb C-Series capo on the guitar head (like my old Kysers) and sometimes needing both hands to re-position the capo does take a little getting use to. Keeping capo in my pocket is NOT convenient as the Irish Trad groups I play with SIT to play!. But sewing a small ribbon loop inside my woven guitar strap has solved that problem. It takes two seconds to hook the long bar of the capo thru the loop and I'm off to the next set of tunes. Capo keeps firm equal pressure and my Taylor is sounding just fine, thank you!Grans50
I bought this capo based on other’s opinion. It’s well made and unobtrusive on the neck. I think it’s strength is that you can precisely control how much pressure is applied so no buzzing or tuning issues. The only potential downside is that you can’t move it quickly mid song (if you need that).Greg
Ah yes, the Shubb in brass. It's aging so well with a beautiful patina. You simply cannot do better than a Shubb. They've really thought out the whole design. Replaceable rubber bits and all, it's designed to last a lifetime which is unusual in our throwaway culture. It's the way we built things once here in the USA (and other countries too!). Not the best business model but kind to the musician and to the planet. These are discreet too, they look unassuming and they work better than anything else I've encountered. I was an anti-capo elitist snob before a kid wanted to learn some Smiths and Beatles tune and I bought one right away. First thing that grabbed me is the look, second the simplicity, third the weight. I sold these for year when I was a dealer and knew it to be good. I was impressed by what a thoughtful company they are offering replacement parts for what wears out. I use mine daily. So if you want the best, these are only about twenty bucks. Do not cheap out. Go for that lifetime purchase!coilhead

Reviews:
For comfort purposes I wanted a capo to effectively shorten the guitar neck. However all capos, to some exent interfere with the left hand movement and positioning. From photos and other reviews the highly rated Paige looked small and thin enough to minimise such inconvenience. I'm glad to say that the Paige passed to B7 test better than other capos I've ever used. It seems expensive for what it is. However, compared to bulkier and better selling trendy capos from America, its not bad at all. For this reason I'd say it is good value. Enjoyable? Well yes….I enjoy not having to think about it and I enjoy not having some huge shiny lump attached to my lovely guitar!af_lockey
When I got my first Paige, I used it on my Alvarez (which has a narrow neck). I absolutely loved it–light weight, stored just above the nut and easily slid quickly into position when I needed it–and no silly looking accessory sticking out of the top of my headstock! It was great for getting just the right tension quickly, which is especially important to me because I capo all over, up to the eighth fret. Unfortunately, this capo is both too narrow and too shallow for most of my other guitars. Too shallow means it won't slide over the nut or up past the first few frets. Too narrow means it scraps the sides of the neck with sharp-cornered, unpadded metal. This is an accessory you would want to try out on the guitar you intend to use it on before purchasing. If it is not too narrow or too shallow for your guitar, then I think you will find it is a great device which will last you a long time. But, if you change guitars, it may no longer serve you.Erik
A capo that adequately works for the octave strings has been elusive. The concept behind raised sections to address that look good, but materials used could be higher quality. (BTW – I would expect that to come at a higher $$ amount, and it would be worth it.) The hinge for the piece that secures the capo in place seems cheap, and and it does not glide on/off easily. I actually lubricated it to see if it would help – not so much. One review I read noted that the bare metal on the top and bottom can actually come in contact with the neck and result in dings to the finish. Valid observation. As also noted by another review, the spacers are difficult to slide on, and the suggestion of helping with a little Finger Ease was a good one. Once in place, the concept works well. Secures everything in place, no intonation problems. So my conclusion is that this is a good concept poorly executed. I'd like to see the same basic design with a bit more attention paid to the quality details. I would not recommend the current design.MikeS

Reviews:
One can tell from the look and feel that this is a quality product. Don't know if I was just lucky, but the capo ( I bought an adjustable model ) fit nicely right out of the plastic packaging. The only 'issue' I have is this model requires two hands to place and remove. I'm now looking into a "one-handed" model. (hence the 4 star vs 5 star rating) Still, although I have only had this capo one week; far, far to little time to do an honest evaluation, I am happy with it. Also, I have heard from more experienced players that Shubb has a reputation for being able to keep the guitar in tune. I have not had enough experience yet to access that.jrat15495

10. Shubb L3 Lite 12 String Capo
Product Details:
The shubb lite capos are a great option for those of you who prefer a lighter weight capo. don't mistake the lighter weight for less quality- just less bulk! they come in a variety of colors are available in a variety of models to fit any instrument you need a capo for. this capo is for 12-string acoustic guitars.
Reviews:
The C3b is solid brass capo for 12 string guitars or any wide-necked guitars with a gentle radius across their fretboards. Guitar necks differ in thicknesses and shapes so this capo (like all Shubb capos) has an adjuster that enables it to fit any neck size. Once adjusted and clipped into place, it does the job perfectly. I have several other capos, including others by Shubb, but prefer the positive, reliable action of the solid brass or chrome models. You can buy cheaper, wide-fitting capos that are not as effective or durable. I recommend the Shubb C3b capo for wider necked, steel strung guitars.orm_uk2014
I have marked this as good value and whilst I'm not in the habit if recommending stuff, I can say that I have a number of rather expensive flat top guitars , I use those expensive picks but see no reason to use anything but this particular model of Shubb capo. I have a separate capo for each guitar kept in its own pickbox in the case. I answered "enjoyable only because to NOT say yes gets complicated. This is the BASIC and ORIGINAL Shubb design and to my mind the best. there ! Now leave me alone1perry686
First of all, this capo doesn't work at all. And that really isn't surprising. I may have just gotten a bad one. Understand that I have two 6 string Shubb capos that I love and would never part with. That's why I was shocked at this 12 string capo. Now let's take a look at what's wrong with it. There are two pads on these capos: one pad goes against the back of the neck of the guitar and the other pad (the big pad) goes over the strings. The two pads should line up reasonably well. This one doesn't, to say the very least. It looks like the arm that holds the neck pad is WAY TOO FAR to the inside of the capo. This looks completely wrong and the capo doesn't work. What happens is that the neck pad digs into the neck and pulls the string pad sideways because of the misalignment. Again, I want to make it clear that the Shubb 6 string capos are the best capos I ever owned and I even bought a second one. What may have happened is that they might have accidentally put a 6 string part (the arm that holds the pad that goes against the back of the neck of the guitar) on this bad 12 string capo that I bought. Also, my 12 string capo doesn't look like the advertised picture at all. The pads line up fairly well on the advertised picture of this 12 string capo. But you can look at the attached picture of the 12 string capo that I bought and they are not the same at all. I'm going to try to get to the bottom of this somehow. I just did a comparison between the 12 string capo and my 6 string capo and I can see that the arms for the neck pads are identical on the two. The arms should probably be considerably longer on the 12 string capo.FlatPicker

Be aware that there are two versions of this capo floating around out there. The original has a larger adjustment wheel and is slightly wider overall than some of the current ones being manufactured. I prefer the original style because the larger wheel is easier to manipulate and the wider stance of the capo itself makes it sit flat on the guitar without any fiddling. And you can't count on the picture either. I bought one from a seller who's photo showed the original model but sent me the new model. In all fairness, the model number of the two versions is the same, so I'm not even sure most sellers know there is a difference, but there is. I'd rate the old model 5 stars, the new model 3 stars. Note: In my photos you may notice that my old one is shorter than the new one. That's because I trimmed the end off to eliminate excess overhang for my particular guitar(s). I found that that overhang got in my way. Once trimmed off, it is the best capo I've ever used. I own a half dozen, trimmed them to fit individual instruments.unclefofe
After working with several musicians, music writers, and players the capo is a necessary tool for a guitar. Most players I work with like "Cowboy Chords" and the capo. I have used several chord inversions to complement the the other guitar player's playing style but sometimes you need the capo. The capo is well designed, functional, and small. The device is fastened by a thumb screw that will apply enough pressure to the neck to hold the capo in place. I have a few heavy duty spring designs but this design is easy to work with.Lyle Style
I love this capo. It has a low profile that doesn't break up the lines of you instrument with an awkward clamp handle extending perpendicularly from the neck. Just a few turns of the knob and your locked in and ready to rock. I haven't had any buzz when I've had the Planet Waves NS Capo in place. It holds tuning in any position on the neck. It performs well on my acoustic, my classical, and my electric guitars. I've even noodled around with it on my bass without any troubles. Putting it into position can be done easily with one hand, but it does take a few turns of the knob to loosen/tighten it. It's not great if you're a player that needs to shift the capo position frequently. I do recommend the Planet Waves NS Capo for anyone who wants a reliable, low profile tool in your bag that'll hold the tuning you want in the position you need.training_dummy2000

This humidifier would work well on a guitar with strings at a height allowing the humidifier to pass under the strings. Unfortunately for me, my classical guitar (Alvarez CC7) has a low action which I like very much because it is so easy to play. The Kyser Lifeguard will not fit under the strings so I use it on another guitar with higher action. I rate it a three only because I am unable to use it on the guitar I intended. It works well on a guitar with high action.moonpie125
This capo seems to have a stronger spring to clamp with more strength than the previous model. All 12 strings ring well without any buzzing on my prize '69 Ovation Balladeer. I use 0.11 – 0.56 La Bella Silk & Steel strings (46 years, tuned to concert pitch) which is rare for any Ovation 12 string guitar to be able to handle. The Kyser capo is quick, saving time between songs. I've always used older model chrome Hamilton clamp & screw type capos which never failed. I will be interested to see how this improved Kyser capo retains it's strength over time. For now, I like it.Ovationation
What I can say about this capo is that it's generations ahead of the one I used some 40 years ago. Also, instead of dealing with a less than full sound coming from the higher strings of my 12-string, this capo placed on the 2nd fret brought out their sound without diminishing any from the lower octave strings. The overall sound of my Seagull 12-string took a leap forward from an already comparable quality of sound to other, much more expensive makes and models. Thanks to all the people who supplied the decision making information leading me to the purchase of this particular capo for 12 string!KevinRK

The key to a good capo is to apply just enough pressure to the strings to clearly fret each string. This Planet Waves design allows you to adjust the pressure exactly at any fret where any spring based system excerts more than enough pressure which caused tuning issues. Not as quick to apply as a spring based capo but so much better once in place.thefirstharvester

This is one of my favorite capo's, the other being the G7 Performance. I really appreciate the micrometer adjustment, I can set the EXACT tension necessary to maintain proper tuning and it is very fast and eeasy to move around the neck. Like the Kyser capo, it doesn't get in the way of fretting chords close to the capo, but unlike the Kyser, it doesn't throw the guitar out of tune. It also doesn't weaken over time (As in every couple of years) and require replacement. Overall, a great design and I highly recommend it for folks who are uncomfortable with the G7.PipeRain
I put this capo up with the Shubb and the G7 so far. Good quality and doesn't use the G.I. Joe kung foo grip like the Kyser. It's what the Kyser could be. For my tastes now the only capos I use are the Shubb, artist D'addario and G7 performance 2…the best out there. I'd rank the the G7 the best and the shubb and artist tied for close second. If you don't have to change a lot and don't mind sticking the capo in a pocket, the Shubb is great, if you need to make fast changes and want the capo on the headstock than the Artist is for you. All are pro quality
I was looking for a better capo as the Kyser and Dunlop capos that I owned weren't cutting it (I was using a capo at the 9th fret for a song) and came across this guy. I wanted a Shubb capo but didn't want to waste time during my performance with adjusting it. This capo was fast and so much easier to grab and move on the neck. I liked that I could adjust it as needed. However, the absolute best thing about this product is the pick holder. I have set a pick down or put it in my pocket (when I play a finger-style song) too many times and got tired of remembering where I put my pick and/or digging in my pocket for it. Having the ability to put it on the capo has been a game changer. 100% recommend this capo.Jess

Reviews:
Like many new players, I didn't usually put much though into my capo choice – it was mostly a matter of what was cheap and convenient. As my playing and my ear developed, I began to be more sensitive to intonation issues with my guitars, and I found this to be a much bigger problem when using an inexpensive "quick" capo. I've tried G7th before, my first purchase being the "Nashville" model, which is basically little more than a typical "quick" capo with G7th's styling and color scheme. Looked cool, but did nothing to improve my sound. As I learned more about the advantages of an adjustable capo, I decided to give the Newport a try. I'm glad that I did. To be fair, this capo isn't a miracle worker. It isn't quite as convenient to remove and replace as a "quick change" capo, and if you don't take time to adjust it for your guitar, it's likely going to have the same downsides as a non-adjustable capo. But it's easy to use right – after some experimenting, I've gotten it adjusted to apply just the right amount of pressure (tip: start with it wide open, and adjust the tension incrementally until the strings ring clear), and the sound is perfectly resonate. No damping, no detuning. It stays out of the way, does it's job, and it's pretty darn easy to move around or remove, while still retaining it's tension. Not much else to say – I haven't tried too many capos above $25, so I'm not certain I can say this is "the best", but it's a great bit of kit, and I highly recommend it.
I've tried several capos over the years and I like this one the best so far. I notice that I have better control over the tension it exerts upon the smaller strings, thereby keeping them from going too sharp. I have found that it works best on my guitar if I insert it over the guitar neck from the bottom of the neck with the capo's opening pointing upwards. This seems to allow the G7th Newport's adjustable tension knob to favor its pinch force over the E,B & G small strings, which, as you know, are the strings more prone to going sharp when using a capo. Something else that is helpful when using capos (I saw this in a video once) is to position capos nearer to the frets instead of in the middle between the frets. Positioning a capo a little closer to the fret (but not too close) seems to cause a more equalized pressure over the six strings before they touch the fret.Redman
Trouble I had with numerous non adjustable capos is they will shift your tuning in the sharp direction especially closer to the nut. 3 things I like about this G7 capo is 1. Slim design makes it feel like there's no capo at all. 2. The precise adjustment allows you to set the compression pressure the same as your bar finger, keeping you in tune at any fret. 3. Easy to adjust on the fly, great when switching guitars with different neck radius and thicknesses or acoustic to electric. I keep two ready at every gig.Guitarpilot

I find this capo better than the cantilever devices.conte01
Incredible capo, the best I have ever used. Due to clamping on top as opposed to side clamping the strings do not bend or go out of tune. I say good value in the review but it is a bit pricey. I paid less that that for my 1st guitar 🙂 a few years ago mind. It is worth biting the bullet re the cost though, it is top quality engineering at it's best, very smooth to use, some of these type of capos are very notchy.terryshepherd12
