Bass Guitar Multi Effects Processor For Sale (2024 Update)

I've got both the GT-1 and the GT-1B units and they are so different. I don't know why, but I find the bass unit much easier to use. The effects shapes that you want are so much easier to dial in. Maybe it's something to do with the distortion types that each unit tries to emulate – you get loads on the GT-1 and only a few on the GT-1B. And the amp emulations too – you get maybe 1/2 – 2/3 on the bass unit. What I would say is that it is well worth spending some time doing a deep-dive of the sounds you can get out of this unit. There's not much help here, you will have to grind to get the sound you want, but it probably will be there somewhere. The Boss Tone sounds lab will only get you so far and there really aren't any shortcuts that I've found to the sort of tone I want for any specific patch. It's worth spending the time noodling around with the unit and at least you can set up a load of blank presets by whatever category you want (I set up amp emulators in 10-set batches). Would I buy it again? Yep, absolutely. If you asked me that about the GT-1, I might not be so sure.Cat F.

The BOSS GT-1B is a really great piece of kit. Was obsessing with synth pedals but couldn't decide which one and then would require an expression pedal etc. The Boss SY-1 doesn't offer presets. I'm pleased with the GT-1B – many many possibilities for designing patches, built in expression pedal & 99 presets. Loads of PROS – Great value. The potential options for combining effects is vast. The build is great, knobs & buttons work easily. I dont use it as a standalone but combine with some analogue pedals, which is a good set up. Still saves plenty of space on pedalboard. CONS – you have to put some graft to get familiar with the software and best usage. There are instructions for the basic operation, using the buttons/dials on the unit but to get the full hang of the software for assigning parameters within patches, BOSS do not supply much info. There are some useful vids online though and chat on talkbass etc – Octave fx doesn't always track brilliantly. Is OK and perfectly usable, but not long sustain. – The Synth fx can be a bit OTT & erratic, if up too high. But great synth type sounds achieved with combining envelope, fuzz, octave, wave etc I haven't used any other effects processor so can't directly compare, but the unit has more than surpassed my main reasons for buying it. Overall: I've had this pedal for a couple of years. I originally bought it for practice but I've been gradually replacing my pedalboard with it mostly because of three reasons:1. The compressor and limiter simulations are top notch. 2. The reverbs and delays are as good as any I've used before. 3. The Ampeg SVT simulation is something that I keep going to.As a bass player I only need very few effects and a good compressor. The rest of my sound comes mostly from the type of bass I use and my fingers.This pedal is perfect for all your effect needs. I'm surprised that more players don't use this pedal. Pretty much the best headphone amp for bass. The world of multi effects is moving so fast right now that if you just want a cheap multi effects unit, you’re better off paying the tiny amount extra for a valeton gp100 or similar. But for just practicing with headphones this is amazing, it’s small, light and portable. It runs off AA batteries, 9v or any USB charger/battery pack and outs to headphones or amp. Plug in headphones, a track from your laptop or whatever and jam. Forget all the terrible headphone amps like the amplugs or the overpriced ones like the fender micro and just use one of these instead. For practicing wherever whenever with a solid bunch of effects 5*. Overall review 4* just because purely as a multi effects pedal it is a bit outdated and underfeatured, but the portability means it still has a great place for practicing.jon m.

I enjoy B1X4 alot. I bought it to have the capabilities to access different sounds on my bass rig. But most importantly is the expression pedal. I use a wah pedal alot in my playing. It has a good stock clean wah sound and a good distortion wah sound. I dig that so much for the value. The best part of this unit is the ease of adjusting the levels and settings of each patch. This board gets 4 stars from me. It's great for studio work and practice but for stage work it's plastic, small and delicate body could get damaged easily. I'm a big guy with large feet and sometimes I would hit both pedals which brings up the tuner. I have since added a bass crybaby wah pedal, a pre-amp,fuzz,octave, compression pedal unit and a chorus pedal to my arsenal and still use the B1X4 together on my pedal board all together. It serves as a tuner and I use a few patches on it. It serves me so very well. The Zoom B1X Four is a great board with many, many uses and advantages for any bass player at all levels.1978circa3-9

Overall: This is a super cool effects unit for the price point. You can spend $100.00 or more on JUST a volume pedal or a looper or a rhythm unit separately. To have all of these plus the great sounds in this package is the true definition of bang for the buck. Great pedal, exceptional value for money! Sounds great, can get some real bass tones through it without sacrificing too much and with little to no feedback when cranked up. Only issue is that I’d say better quality switches could be used, feel a little cheap and heavy when switching but other than that, ace! I have to say that I have owned & giged with the BP50… I used it for mostly the Amp mods (which are pretty versital for such a little guy), the Tuner (not great for outdoor gigs), and that I could use an EXP pedal (although parameters are kinda limited, they are very cool). The 4 band EQ and the fretless effect are the only other effects that I thought we're worth the price. Lots of useless stuff, slim-if-no parameter settings on most functions, make it a bummer. But overall little work to figure out, and pretty easy to use. Sturdy case for Plastic, the buttons are a bit cheezy though (one look inside will tell all. key work here is plastic… booo. Since this review is about the BP80 not BP50, I have to tell you that there is little difference. Not like I expected too much, just maybe a little more versatility in parameters or something. Nope, pretty much a let down. The aforementioned stuff and the fact this has a built in expression pedal (this does have some pretty cool functions of its own varing from the BP50, does increase the cool quotient) make it a sightly better choice than the BP50. Both are awsome practice tools, with built in drum machine and good tuning (pitch) control make this pedal ideal for the practice room only. Not super gig-worthy. This is a fine unit that has tremendous functionality and given some time and effort there is almost no tone that cannot be extracted from this unit. Unfortunately Line 6 goes out of their way to make it an unpleasant experience. Unless of course your willing to fork over more money for software that other companies would give you for free, or at least substantially less than Line 6 charges. You shouldn't have to shell out hundreds of dollars for a unit followed by hundreds more for some software to get the most out of it. Line 6 is the worst, but the POD Pro XT is a good unit.recnepsterb

For a nine year old effects floorboard, this is a great value for someone (like me) who wants several effects without spending $100-200 per pedal. Line 6 is generous with this one, Ive only had it two weeks and theres still plenty of sonic discoveries to be had. Cant compare it to Line 6s new units, but this one looks cool, sounds even better. Couldnt care less that it happens to be all modeling, I can plug a bass in, then in the blink of an eye pick up the guitar without unplugging from the bass amp and still get a huge stellar amp tone for ultimate chunder. Get it, for $200-ish its a steal!aig-man

This is a pretty good bag. The quality is excellent and it looks/feels like it will last quite a while. I bought this for my Line 6 Pod hd500x and it works "ok" for it. The bag could be a bit more snug so the Pod does not flop back and forth when you carry it. Length wise there is extra room and a spacer which allows you to carry some extra cables or a power strip, but I am talking about the snugness on the top and bottom. I may try adding an extra foam pad to see if this helps. I know this bag was not specifically made for the Pod so I can't fault it too much for not fitting 100%. As a bass player in a covers band, different tones and effects at needed for different artists. Really great fun researching a players sound and putting the effects into a patch. I found it easiest to hook up to a laptop using the free software, lining up all the effects, labelling it and adjusting some parameters. Then playing and rehearsing to adjust the sounds by ear. I got some great chorus sound for Guns n Roses, a decent Motrhead sound, and even some tricky Muse effects. Not to mention various mildly overdriven sounds and a really nice Classic Fender Precision tone. I even got a reasonable (not accurate) cello sound (intro to I Write Sins not Tragedies- Panic at the disco)sirbucketheadthethird

I purchased the Zoom B3n from MusiciansFriend when they showed up back in stock recently. I hoping that the 2.0 firmware upgrade from 2 months ago would be applied to current shipments of the product, but I received the B3n with 1.0 firmware. It was easy to install the device driver (although time patience is key), and the firmware upgrade went smoothly. The unit's basic sound performance seemed like an improvement from the base firmware, and more effects were included with the new firmware. I was also pleasantly surprised that the patch manager software was a breeze to download and use (Win7). In order to have everything available from Zoom to date, you have to use the patch manager to install the patches that have been made available over the past year or so. Patches are .zptc files, so custom patches can be shared and dragged and dropped into the software, and then onto your B3n. You can also use the patch manager software to backup or restore your complete unit, and the editing is a breeze. Swapping patch locations to organize for convenience can also be done more sanely in the software. I now have over 100 effects from Zoom, and 96 patches, all from Zoom, compared to the almost 70 effects and 75 patches initially received. I don't see myself needing to custom design that many patches, so having 150 available patch slots with up to 7 effects chained is great for me. I think Zoom did a great job considering the price point, but there is a learning curve, and you will spend several hours getting it together, so caveat emptor for sure! The snags are (1) the USB connector was a Micro-B, so luckily my son had a cable from his Samsung phone. Most equipment I have uses USB Mini-B. (2) The output impedance is 10K, so an output buffer may be necessary when inputting into lower impedances to avoid 'sound' changes from the B3n. (3) The 6 available pedal effects won't be accessible on the B3n unless you plug in and configure the Zoom Exp pedal. (4) HW/SW Learning Curve!StringBender

Best price in town on a great little piece of equipment. Honestly, it's amazing what tech is doing these days. This unit is fully staged worthy and has nearly everything anyone could want. There is a learning curve to the unit but it isn't too bad. It isn't perfect out of the box but can be tweaked to preference. Many of the presets are great and as good launch point for sounds you are looking for. As for delivery, my unit came very fast. I think i waited 4 days for my order (which was 5 days earlier than initially estimated).Jeffrey

The GP-200 is a very flexible multi-effects/modeler whose price may suggest something of lower quality, but it's actually a great-sounding and fun unit. I play acoustic and electric guitar with an Acoustasonic Telecaster, and the GP-200 works great for both sounds. You get what's probably hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of amps, effects, and cabinets for a fraction of the cost. The factory presets probably aren't for most people, but the fun is in creating your own anyway. I definitely recommend using the PC/Mac software for this, as it's a little easier on the eyes and a bit more intuitive as far as the interface goes, but working with the unit itself just takes a little time and experimenting to get used to as the documentation isn't as detailed as it could be for the depth of options available. The acoustic guitar IRs are helpful for buffing up a standard piezo pickup; they won't fill anyone into thinking that your $200 guitar is a vintage Martin or whatnot, but they do bring a bit more depth to the sound. I find them a bit brittle-sounding, but perhaps with more EQ tweaking I could minimize that. I highly recommend this unit for people who want a good, flexible modeling solution without paying thousands. I haven't had the opportunity to play with big-name modelers, but this will definitely do the trick for most.Josh

This is my favorite piece of equipment in the studio and Live. It is the greatest for mastering recordings to CD. When finalizing a mix you need to hear the mix at loud volumes on loud hi fidelity speakers to see if the hi end is not too harsh and the lows are not to muddy. The included Ultramizer Fx is a sonicmaximizer 2 band compressor that keeps the mix contained and averaged. Best I ever used and I've used a lot. You can set an average RMS signal which keeps peaks from jumping into red DB range and distorting. This thing really polishes the mix. A one time setting tuned to your speakers is all you will need. I use it live and it doubles the volume of the pa by keeping the average RMS signal intelligently and transparently containing a full sound. Our ears hate harsh hi end at loud volumes and the Ultramizer contains them while pumping up bass which our ears love as per the Munson Fletcher Loudness Contour Curve effect. It also protects speakers by stopping abrupt dynamic bursts that can blow up your speakers. After setting up your speakers with the virtualizer just pushing the in out button will blow you away at the thickness and polish of the mix. Set the crossover freq at 2.5 k. Djs use sonic maximizers to get that pumped up sound. This is 10 times more effective. Also the Delay Reverb multi is smooth and articulate. I have 3 in my home studio. I can say you have to hear it to appreciate what it does. Best mastering tool ever. Best PA tune up sound maximizer. You can shove the master Faders into the red and even at maxed levels in the red it stays Crystal clean. So many nice stereo fx you will be using it all the time. Even as a delay reverb it is perfect for a fine tuned live mixer and you will love it. It is a pitch transposed and can really beef up the love end if the bass. I might be a bit late in writing this review, I've had this thing for 20 yrs. now and it hasn't changed much in design much at all. After 20 yrs. I'm still finding new combinations of effects I hadn't used before. One of my favorite effects is vinyl which makes a scratchy vinyl record sound, it's a nice recording effect to start or end (or both) a recording with. I also like running a drum machine (when i use one) through the enhanced effect give a nice, clear, sharp sound. Although this would be my first effects processor ive bought and dont have anything to compare to it, Im really happy with the purchase. After opening the package I noticed its very light weighted, and easy to carry around. I plugged it into my Behringer mixer and it worked great. The interface is designed nicely, and the knobs turn smooth. I mostly just bought it for the reverb effects and they have some pretty nice reverb presets that ive been using, but it only comes with about 12 or so. I will say there is a ton of effects ill never use on this device. If you are looking for a cheaper way to get live effects, I dont think youll be disappointed with this unit.jaki-6278

I was interested in finding a processor that would give me great bass tone first and foremost. I'm not into a lot of the effects on bass. Maybe one or two here and there on a few songs. I just wanted a unit that would help me get that great big fat tone that you hear on recordings. I have to say that this thing did deliver. You have many amp tones to start with, several great compressors, exciters, sonic maximizers, a Sansamp driver, speaker emulations. These are modeled after high dollar reputable name brand units. This is the least expensive thing I could find out there that would give me all of this. I highly recommend this unless you have thousands of dollars and a bunch of time to experiment to find something better. This is the only pedal i own, and I'm really pleased with it. I really like the compression/EQ patches,and some of the other effects. This pedal was advertised as USED.. but it looks and Sounds brand NEW! I'm not a techno guy.,so this unit works for me because it's pretty easy to use. On the surface, the Boss ME-20B is more professional than the toy Zoom pedals I had, but what I personally find frustrating & problematic is that once fired up you have to enter another mode in order to take advantage of what's on offer. With Zoom, at least you're ready to go from the word go! That may seem as if it's a little whinge over a minor issue, but I believe that simplicity is the most efficient way for productivity; the less buttons/pedals activated – the less things can go wrong. Thought I'd find things easier on a Boss unit than the toy Zoom pedals I had – but at least they were more transparent..baronvonblues

For the price you really can't go wrong. I'm very happy with it. It's pretty easy to use as long as you have the manual. It looks cool and it feels durable. And most important, the effects sound great! I love the distortion, flange, chorus, wah, overdrive and delay. Octaver is top notch. Synth is pretty good and defretter is pretty good. Also, I'm extremely happy with the combination of the distortion and bass enhance. It keeps a nice low end without making it sound like an electric guitar.joeb1supreme

I use the wah with my Fender P Bass Special frequently. Adequate wahness. Probably there are more dramatic dedicated wah units but this one works for me. When I watch my guitarist plug together all the units on his pedal boards I think, Been there, done that. I like the convenience of all-in-one board. Leaves more time to chat w new people. This unit is a great size. Easily fits into my crowded gig bag. LED read-out is effective. Even in bright sunlight. More and more I'm learning to use the volume pedal as a special fx. Use the tuner every gig, of course. Like the chorus. So far I have not gotten effective settings for t-wah and others. But I'm super happy with the basics as described above. Am using a new, light-weight G-K MB210. The ME20b works well with it. Have had mine a few months – like it a lot – but have yet to fully explore the features. While time will tell, the first few months' appreciation is very positive. Switches and foot pedal work well. The case is sturdy. Don't feel like I have to baby it. The only way to get to a specific set of effects is to click up/down one at a time. This forces you to activate and deactive each effects set on the way to the one you want. For studio stuff, this is OK, but for live performance, there are terrible sounds emitted by various setting modes. Don't buy this for live performance unless you only want to program one or two effect mixes. The volume out of some of the settings is way too loud and makes terrible sounds as you are stepping through to a desired effect. Quality of the effects is pretty low – lots of hiss and noise with most of the effects.atglabs

With all the combination of sounds that you can imagine at your disposal with the flexibility the Boss GT-10b creates I find it hard to beat for the price. It isn't a no brainer to setup and does take some getting used too. Fun to play with………fabulous…………russpatt2853

This thing is very transparent without effects which makes it nice to just keep in the chain and make use of the tuner and pedal. And when effects are needed there are a lot of very good sounding ones to choose from and tweak. I dialed in a very good rendition of fretless sound for Pink Floyd "Hey You"…and an unexpected surprise was a setting to actually play the talk box solo from "Rocky Mountain Way" on my bass with no need for a physical talk box!. Very cool. A little bit of learning curve, but if you take the time to go through the manual it does a good job accelerating you to patch creating wizardry. My favorite feature is the ability not only set individual levels of each effect in each patch, but also the ability to tweak the levels of all these and re-save the patch on stage very quickly when you hear certain other band members decide to crank their amps up without notice!mwdguitar

Knobs, knobs, and more knobs! And I love it! I have played with all sorts of stomps boxes trying to come up with just the right combination. I have come full circle and now really appreciate this simple to use multi-effect unit. There is something to be said for simplicity. I have 3 pedal boards with all sorts of effects, and was constantly interchanging them, always searching for just the right combination. As soon as I received this unit, I played around with it and then quickly made it my main go to pedal board that I use playing out. The search is over and I can now conquer my pedal board demonic trance that I was in.$nid1963

I just bought a Boss ME-50 Multi effects pedal for my guitar. I specifically bought this one as a back up. It was used but very well taken care of, in fact it looked brand new when I received it. I plugged it in and it works perfect. It actually sounds better than the one I have been using for my gigs. Everything was as specified. The volume button had been replaced but that did not effect the pedal what so ever. The best used purchase I have made yet!redwinejazzjunkie

I have been playing guitar seriously for only about 8 months now but bought this pedal as a recommendation from a friend that has been playing for 20+ years. This pedal combines every effects pedal made by BOSS into one streamlined package. The distortion effect in themselves are AMAZING! There are so many settings to choose from and such a great variety of sounds. This is such a time consumer just sitting around and playing with all of the options. I cannot believe you can get this much value in today's modern market! I would HIGHLY recommend this pedal to anyone on a tight budget but looking for a HUGE variety of effects and sounds.leprechaun6969

Pro's Had this pedal for a few weeks now, very pleased as I can plug my passive solid body electric violin straight in and it seems to balance the impedence just fine, so I don't lose the lower frequencies. Battery life is surprisingly good, also there is an eco function that makes the screen less bright for longer life. First thing I did was test it with cheap pound shop batteries, which lasted for a good few hours, so I was impressed as none of my other pedals can handle that. There is a very useful editor which you can download and gives full access to all of the various fx. Was also surprised that Zoom seem to keep adding these individual plug-in type effects. There is one set of patches that you can load in from the editor, created by a Japanese EV player. They are interesting and can be useful. The fx appear to be in a chain, but some seem parallel to my mind, as there is a mix control with some that seems to be a by-pass of some kind. There are quite a lot of different fx and some are aimed at getting that piezo squeek under control, which is important for EV players as the bow hair noise can be a distraction. The EQ fx seem to be aok at filtering out the annoying frequencies. The looper is quite handy for setting up, the frequency response to my ears seemed ok without any noticeable compression. Not many battery loopers out there, so this is ok for a street jam if that is your thing. It's just basic record, overdub x however many you want, stop or delete. This pedal worked well through my amps and like most pedals works well in that situation for live gig work. For studio, I could record DI straight into my DAW, but to gain a really natural sound used additional IR reverb and IR convolution snapshots that I've made. I also have the Zoom A2.1u pedal which is built like a tank but is less easy to program. I wasn't sure about the plastic base of the A1. However, it has a got a solid metal base and feels really strong+ it's light and a handy size, not too big. Unlike some of the floor guitar pedals I've got that take up a whole gig bag. I can set up my favourite patches in any order that I like, the editor makes this very easy. I can overwrite the presets, or re-set back to makers original settings. Makers patch 29 is one of the best octavers I have come across in a pedal like this. Makes a regular EV sound just like a Cello. Cons: There might be IR on this pedal but you can't load in your own and there is no way to get access to edit the convolution fx. I was overly impressed with the Violin pre-sets, but that's true of most pedal presets, you need to put you own to together to suit different EV's you might own. Overall I like this pedal and can see myself using it a lot because it is light, I can edit on the fly, good battery life, good price, ongoing support via the editor. I bought this pedal from Scan computers in Bolton and their service was excellent and they offered the most competitive price, so all good imo.Peak

This is NOT an acoustic guitar pedal! It has useless settings for sax, harmonica, trumpet, WHY ? They're just a bunch of unusable effects for a guitar, maybe a half dozen are useful. The looper is useless, you have to use your hand to get to it, it ONLY records a 30sec loop, not 24 seconds not one measure , 30 sec. And it doesn't start with sound activation, so the delay from when you turn it on stays in the loop, as does the remainder of the 30 seconds !!! What good is that ? And the pedal is right next to a control footswitch, that you WILL keep hitting and changing the setting as you play. There is no rhyme or reason to the lack of organization in the effects order, there isn't any. Bottom line, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY !Badartdog

The main reason I bought this is that i had a Zoom 405 acoustic effects years ago and loved it. This has the same quality effects. The preset guitar types is surprisingly good, the EC preset is very very good. The rhythm is ok, standard level and useful for sure. The looper however is very average, very limited in control and capacity. Overall a very good effects unit for acoustic guitar. Forget the looper!itc_productions

Put in about two hours of playtime on this, stored it for a few months safely right next ot all my other EHX pedals. All of them work perfectly, this one just doesn't. Musician's Friend won't replace it, and EHX is making me pay to ship it back to fix it. Which is absurd as it's basically new.Ian

Great pedal! I use it all the time, i record bass part to Boss looper with my Harley Benton Fusion III, then add chords with the same guitar and then play solo. You cant tell its not a real bass guitar.tatyanaedelman

Great tone. I'm using this to lay bass tracks onto the looper. I'm really only using Precision setting. Fun to play around with the others. Fret less sounds cool.Kyle

Bought one of these to replace an old Peavey effects unit. As soon as we plugged it in we noticed a very pronounced high-end hiss. Only way to tone it down was to try to EQ it out. (the input/outputs had to be turned almost to zero to quiet it down – so what's the point?) Ended up yanking it and keeping the old one. Friend of mine recently had the same experience in his set-up. If only he had asked me first. Look up other reviews about this product, it also has a display glitch that causes it to randomly scroll through different effects settings. This is unacceptable in this day and age – even at this pricepoint. It is now sitting in our "just in case something breaks" pile.Squeezebox 4.0

my last ART unit died and I needed to replace it. I run a Mackie VLZ1604pro. i send 4 efx sends and after buying one lex200 a year ago, it was a slam dunk. I have had another brand which i will not mention, you need to be an MIT grad to operate. Not for me. I do not have a lot of experience with many other units, but for me the Lex200 works great, main thing, it is easy to use, simple and sounds awesome. I recomendbkbrocks

This unit is noisy to the point of unusable in my effects loop. I have it running off the back of my 5150 III head and it hisses to no end, despite top of the line cables and a Furman power conditioner. Also it squashes the tone of the amp – makes it sound thin. I don't recommend this unit for guitar effects loop use. I thought Lexicon would be top of the line. I have heard better reverb from pedals.EB
