At the price, it's impossible to beat. The tuners and the bridge are better than I expected. Electronics work nicely, usable strings for a burn-in period. It needed less than 10 minutes to tune, adjust and intonate. The neck is unfinished, I'm going to seal it with tung oil and lightly scuff it with some steel wool. I'm already assuming the frets will have some high/low spots. Surprisingly, the fret ends are dressed nicely. I see people have complained about cutting their fretting hand on sharp fret edges. Not the case here but necks do shrink a tiny amount depending on climate and that shouldn't really be a valid complaint. It's easy to fix fret ends and at this price I would expect to do it. No pick guard so the patched area near the pickups can be seen if you look close enough. As I'll be putting in a pick guard eventually, it's no big deal. I did buy it as slightly scratched so that's it for the "issues". In short, I'm happy. It's also a fair bit lighter at the body than I expected. I don't see that as a bad thing.kfries-half
For a guitar player getting into the world of the bass guitar this was almost too good to pass up. After a simple bridge adjustment and raising the pickups a tad this is a really functional bass to learn on. Sounds good, no fret buzz (outside of my poor playing). Not only does this 5 watt lil' monster have enough power to rattle the windows, it also has class! At only 9 lbs. the Bugera T5 Infinium has enough "UMFF" to push your favorite 4X12" cabinet into the stratosphere! It's better having this reverb built into this lil' madman than not having any at all. Just like 9/10 of the other amp heads in its class. The 1 channel, "all tube" head has warm cleans. Push in the PHAT switch and crank the volume and gain and you get saturated distortion that will blow you away! All of that in a 9 lb metal cage like package for only $200! You won't find another 5 W head with all of that for this price. I love my T5 Infinium from Bugera!brmul-8207
Bought this head for 162 ChF and combined with the Vox BC108 (85,-) it is a fantastic value. I should say, it is my first all-valve amp so I can't make many comparisons, but here is my general review. The amp reacts very nicely to changes in my guitar's output. Turning down the guitar volume or playing very softly gives me a clean sound even with lots of gain. The distortion is generally very harmonic and fuzzy. You can absolutely get a metal tone from this with a set of (higher output) humbuckers. You will need the "Phat" switch for anything high-gain, which will bypass the EQ, but to me it sounds great. The reverb sounds quite good and is very useful. The build quality and looks seem top-notch. There are three minor drawbacks. Firstly, even at 0,1 Watt it's fairly loud. Absolutely fine for lower gain tones, but late night metal in an apartment will be tough. Secondly, with headphones plugged in, the attenuator (wattage setting) is bypassed, so depending on the headphones high gain tones might deafen you. Thirdly (and this is a very minor nitpick), the Bass and Treble knobs don't have as much range as I'm used to. TLDR: Overall if you're looking for a simple old-school head with a fantastic value, this surely has to be it. All of my (admittedly nitpicky) issues with it can be fixed with an overdrive pedal.
First impression: On unboxing, the T5 did not make a great first impression. I thought it was B stock! It was literally covered in fingerprints! That greasy fingerprint look just doesn’t go well on black and chrome. It also had what looked like a tape glue mark near the logo. I got a good clean with a dry cloth. What a beautiful looking piece of gear this is, a vintage look that is to die for. The Bugera T5 Infinium Tube Amplifier is well built. It is heavy, certainly but well supported by a sturdy leather vintage style handle that makes it super portable. Tall rubber feet gave the T5 plenty of clearance to avoid cab handles. The front panel: The front panel sports a standard input jack socket, 5 Knobs, a “Phat” switch, a jeweled power light and a power switch. There is no “standby” switch. A matching chrome and black Bugera logo fronts the chrome cage. The controls: The Gain control increasingly pushes the amp into saturation as it is rotated clockwise producing a very usable overdrive. The treble and bass controls work as one expects – nothing unexpected there. The reverb was something of a surprise. Sounding rather “springy”, especially when added tastefully. A super reverberant wash is available beyond the 12 O’clock position. The Volume knob, perversely, does not seem to add volume. There is hardly and noticeable difference at all between the 11 o’clock position and when fully clockwise. Where the REAL volume push lies, is with the Phat switch. The Phat switch boosts the volume while bypassing the EQ. It certainly does make a huge difference – when engaged, one never wants to switch it off! The Back Panel: Power is via 3 pin IEC “kettle” plug. Also here are two quarter inch jacks. The first is for a 4 ohm speaker, although this is labeled as a minimum load, you can use 8 or 16 ohm cabs. The second jack is for headphones. Extra points to Bugera for not using a mini jack here! Bugera eliminate bias issues using what they call their “infinium” system. LED indicators show when a tube needs replacing. The T5’s is next to the phones jack socket. Inside: Under the hood things also look great but you will only really get to see this if you are curious or wish to swop out or replace tubes. Removing the cage reveals the transformers, tubes and a screen printed Bugera logo – it’s like an art piece! The tubes are very secure and it takes some determination to remove them – a good thing as secure is better. The inside of a T5 chassis reveals considerable digital circuitry – probably the reverb. Performance: For 5 Watts the T5 is certainly much louder than one expects. If your personal history is primarily solid state amps, this amplifier will be a wake up call as to why guitarists everywhere have refused to abandon tubes for so long. Blues tones from the T5 are beautiful – everything from almost clean to great crunch – everything a blues player looks for. Let down: I REALLY wanted this amp but it was let down by one thing. The amp I was using had an unpleasant "fuzzyness" when trying to get the cleanest possible sound out of it. This "fuzzyness" hung in the dying tail of a note and sounded exactly like a crossover problem in a push pull amp – but this is a Class A amp so how could that be?! When playing power chords it sounded like intermodulation – something didn’t sound right to me. Ironically, "digital noise" in my digital practice amp is WHY I wanted a tube amp in the first place! This was a different type of noise but just as distracting. I had no EL84’s so couldn't test that – but I did have a lower gain 12AU7 tube so was able to swop that with the 12AX7 hoping like crazy that it was a tube issue and that the problem would vanish (because I really DID like this amp) but it did not help. In the end, I reluctantly packed up the T5 and returned it. If you do get a chance, try one, I recommend this simply because if I just got a dud or damaged B stoc

5 string bass in burley wood. Fit and finish first class. Unbelievably light. Fantastic value for money. Mine played very badly out of the box, with the neck seemingly overdone on the truss rod. Relaxed that a turn, set intonation and saddles and it's pretty good now imo. Think it would benefit from having some frets filed a bit. But all in all it's excellent for the money. I could spend 3-4 times as much for the next up cheap 5 string, but I doubt it would play better and I bet it would be significantly heavier.
My second Glarry bass. the first purchase was a 4 string fretless – flawless instrument. Obviously I was happy with it – I bought another instrument. This 5 string arrived today. I spent a brief time setting up the action, as you would need to do with any new instrument. It was not at all necessary to have a shop do it, as they send the tools you need included with the instrument and it is great for a player to be able to do this themselves- it will make you a more knowledgable player and take additional pride in ownership. But the real reason for leaving this review is to convey just how great the quality is. My wife's initial reaction: "that is beautiful – a work of art!", and she is so correct. Having owned many basses and played for 35+ years, this is as good as any bass I have had. You will see many other reviews state the same thing. The action, the finish, the sound – there is nothing to complain about, even if you took the affordable price out of consideration. Buy one of these now before they figure out they could charge 2-3x as much and I would still recommend buying even at those prices. I am installing a thumb rest on it and using this the next weekend for a songwriter showcase. Can't wait to see what compliments I get on it. Glarry, you guys do a great job and my hat is off to you.
There's nothing really spectacular about this bass, except for possibly the bang for your buck. What you get is a fairly well made solid instrument that does the job without any unnecessary frills! Mine arrived well packaged and in good condition. There are a couple of minor finish blends, but they aren't noticeable if you're more than a foot away. The set up was nearly spot-on, only a few minor adjustments were required. The neck and fretwork were well done. Frets are smooth with no sharp ends. The fretboard is dry, but that is somewhat expected, and not a big deal. I did send the back of the neck with 1000 grit paper so it is now silky smooth and plays great. The pickups sound very good, though the volume puts taper rather abruptly. Overall, this is a good sounding, very playable bass! I am a happy Glarry customer once again!

The phil jones double four bg-75 bass combo amplifier is a single channel bass amp with an incredible compact design and remarkable tone. dual 4 inch speakers pump out a sound so huge it's hard to believe it's coming from such a small amp. the double four amp also features an auxiliary input for ipad/ipod, mp3 or drum machine, 3 band eq, headphone out jack and a line out for recording. phil jones designed the amp to be ideal for both 4 and 5 string basses. what you hear from the double four is the closest you can get to how your instrument actually sounds. the enclosureso how do you get huge bass sound from a small speaker cabinet? phil jones applied their vast experience to an even smaller driver just 4 inches across. using their extensive randd facility which includes the largest anechoic chamber in the bass amp industry and the klippel transducer measurement system, they were able to develop the perfect 4 inch loudspeaker. they analyzed the neodymium magnetic system, the cone behavior at all frequencies in 3d representation, cone suspension, frame etc. until they had achieved a transducer beyond what anyone would have ever thought possible. then phil jones looked at the acoustic loading using the acoustic simulation software and calculated exactly the full power cone displacement at every frequency. phil jones designed a custom rectangular auxiliary low frequency radiator (ralfr). that is a pneumatically coupled radiator loaded to the rear of the two 4 inch speakers that operates at the lowest bass frequencies only. it augments the output of the loudspeakers at frequencies from 30 to 150 hz. it also reduces the cone excursion of the speakers allowing greater power handling. the proprietary pjb neopower 4-inch speakers are full frequency range to the highest audio frequencies. not only does this give greater clarity and transparency to your instrument but also gives a high fidelity sound to any backing track fed into the auxiliary input. each speaker is fed with its own pulse width modulation pwm amplifier. pwm amplifiers are extremely efficient compared to more traditional analog solid state amplifiers converting more electrical energy to power the speakers instead of getting hot. heat in electrical circuits is the enemy to reliability and since the amp is running at lower working temperature, the double four amp will give years of service long after other amps have faded away. by using dual amplifiers one to each speaker, the bass control is greatly improved since the damping factor is doubled.

this little thing is truly amazing, those little 4' speakers sound great and its smaller that a shoe box but we live in the physical world and the sound is still transported by air, so low frequencies reach the limit of this little wonder very quickly, if used at low volume the sound is very decent. but when compared to a fender Rumble 25 ($99) which has an 8' speaker or even the Phil Jones Micro 7 (7 inch speaker+ 3' tweeter) there is no contest, the bass and headroom improves dramatically. So my recommendation is, only good for practice and or low volume acoustic duos or trios (no drums). A preamp or high pass filter before the input helps a lot.AgostoMortal
This amp is perfect! Whether using it for practicing charts, songlists, or just jamming to playlists! Its exactly like playing with a group. The size is awesome and ridiculously powerful. It was a complete surprise! I read all the reviews and expected it to be adequate but I didn't expect it to exceed my expectations! So easy to use and move around and handles the low B without any distortion…period. It is pricey, but I believe you get what you pay for. After 40 years of playing I can say I've not found another "practice" amp that has made me this pleased and satisfied. A great buy!!William

Ich kann euch das Gerät sehr für den gebrauch zu Hause ans Herz legen. Lasst euch nicht von den kleinen Abmessungen abschrecken, der Würfel hat genug Power und Druck um alle Nachbarn im Haus zu nerven und er klingt auch bei leiser Zimmerlautstärke noch extrem gut ! Ich habe im Laden ca. 30 – 50 Amps getestet welche in mein Heim & Budget passen. (Habe auch deutlich teurere In Betracht gezogen) Dieser Amp hat mich vom Sound her am meisten überzeugt. Der Sound ist sehr satt und sehr gut ausbalanciert. Die Bässe sind Druckvoll und Knurrig. Die Mitten Cremig. Die höhen Brilliant. Entscheidend war aber das der Sound hier nicht wie bei fast allen anderen Amps in ein Resonantes Wummern verfällt wo vom eigentlichen Ton nicht mehr viel übrig bleibt. Beim Laney RB1 bleibt der eigentliche Ton stets im Clean im Vordergrund. EIn Kopfhöreranschluss mit kleiner Klinke ist auch vorhanden – sehr gut ! Ein Compressor ist auch mit verbaut, dieser musste aber noch nie Tätig werden da ich im normalen Heimgebrauch gar nicht in die nähe der Übersteuerung komme. Leider musste ich den ersten Würfel direkt wieder Umtauschen da er sich nicht sauber angehört hat, möglicherweise irgendwas mit der Membran nicht ok oder irgendwas locker, keine Ahnung hat sich angehört wie ein schlechtes Overdrive, achtet also drauf das euer Laney RB1 sauber bzw. Clean klingt. Habe Ersatz bekommen mit dem ich nun schon seit 5 Monaten sehr zufrieden am abrocken bin. Denke mal das es ein Einzelfall war, man kann ja auch an den Demogeräten vor Ort im Laden ungefähr einschätzen wie Langlebig die Geräte sind, da haben die Laney Geräte eigentlich einen sehr guten Eindruck gemacht. Während bei anderen namhaften Herstellern schon die Poti Knöpfe abgefallen sind oder die Klinkenbuchsen locker waren sind bei den Laney Amps nur die Potis viel zu leichtgängig gewesen, Funktion war aber völlig Einwandfrei. Also für das Geld ist es wirklich sehr überzeugend was der Kleine Würfel so drauf hat, die 5 Sterne hat er sich fair verdient.

Sound: I bought the Ampeg Microvr Head originaly with one Ampeg 2-10" cabinet as a part of matched set, as most people do – about three months a later I bought another cabinet – so now I'm often running two of the same cabinets and the head together. When you plug in the second cabinet the rig gets noticeably louder in this set up, and also appears to have a much more deeper bass tone(if you want it). Adding the second cabinet added $300 to my rig – but if you can afford it, the sound is far superior to just the single cabinet, and gives you a lot of flexiblity. For smaller indoor venues like playing bass behind people with pugged in acoustic guitars, I run the head with just one cabinet and it sounds fine – both tone and volume wise. When I playing along with a drummer most of the time I opt for using two cabinets rather than just one. At higher volumes – like playing with a drummer it just sound stronger and fuller in every respect than by using just the single 2 10" cabinet. I'm either running a recent custom C.F. Martin Acoustic/ Electric Bass guitar, or a Fender Precession Bass, through the rig – depending on who and what I'm playing on music wise. It works excellent with either instrument and I am very happy with the set up. Even with just one cabinet you won't be dissapointed. Features: Happy with everything that it came with feature wise. Didn't like the stock power cord that came with because it was very stiff and hard to wind up – Ampeg should switch vendors and get a power cord supllier that could offer them a more felxible cord of the same quality that you cound wind up easier. Ease of Use: Tone controls are easy to figure out and use. Rear connections on the amp are simple, straight forward and easy to use, and hook things up. I often use a Martin acoustic bass guitar with this rig – so I use a Fishman DI preamp in between my bass and the amp – this being done basically to help control feedback at higher volumes (especially when playing out door gigs) and to fine tune the tone on the acoustic bass a bit more. My Fender bass sounds fine with out the Fishman preamp and the controls on the amp head work well with it – giving you many mutiple tone combinations depending on how you set them. Also my Fender fretless bass sounds really good through the amp and the matched speaker that you will most likely buy with the head. Quality: Quality seems very high. After about two years of owning and active giging – it is holding up extremely well. Over the last year or so I have taken it out on local gigs about twice a week, So it's been out of my house more than a hundred times so far, and there haven't been any issues so far – all this in all kinds of weather and temperatures. I had black vinyl covers made for the head (from a custom amp cover innernet company)and for both speaker cabinets as soon as I bought everything – so even aften trucking the units all over the place for quite awhile now they still all look fresh and brand new. The power cord that came with it was very stiff and always hard to roll up – so I bought an after market cord on a website cord supplier that was more flexible and easier to wind up. I've used the after market power cord every since. The head has a fan in the back that runs whever the unit is powered up, that when you first get the amp drives you crazy – because it appears to sound so loud. Truth is though while you may hear it running in your house when practing – you never do at gigs. At any gig the room and enviroment background noise easily drown it out right away – you just never hear the fan running at all. When I first got it I though something was wrong with the fan – there wasn't. Its an Ampeg thing – that is the low fan noise in a quiet background setting. Keeps everything cool inside the head – so you can certainly live with it. I got used to it after awhile and don't even notice it anymore. No one has ever commented to me anywhere about any fan noise coming from my amp. So don't think something is wrong with the fan when you first get the head. Value: The original outlay (about $600 for the head and one matching cabinet) is a bit steep compared to several other small bass amps on the market out there – but you get what you pay for I guess. Due to the price saddly – alot of bass players might not be able to buy one and will go with something cheaper out there. Before buying this I looked around for about two months at other rigs on the innernet, at music stores, and at othet musicians' bass rigs when watching them perform. This unit was replacing a Hartke Kickback 12 – which I used for about three years for the same type of smaller gigs – which is for more low volume type of dealsthat I play at – where you don't have to worry about shaking the room and making the paint peel of the walls when you hit your low E string on something like Springsteen's "Pink Cadillac". Sound: I own the Microvr amp and 2 210svtav cabs. I bought the second cab after I got the Mircovr set up. The sound sound you get from this things for the money blows anything else out their out of the water. To get the rated 200watts performance you need a 2nd cab as the load with one cab is 8 ohms at 150 watts. Light weight portability and small footprint size are a plus especially if your space chanllenged. This thing rocks. Features: This is a no frills set up. Has what you need to have great sound with a headphone jack to play practice in a low noise enviroment. Ease of Use: It has a 3 band eq section that you can dial in easy to find a sound you like. Its no svtpro 7 but for the money you will not find a better amp in its class. Quality: This amp is made solid. Mimics the old school look of the 70s svt lineup. Value: With anything you purchase you wish you could get it for less thats just the way it is. But for the money you will not find a better sounding and well made rig in this class. Advertised as 1000 watts, actual output is 200. I knew that before I bought it. The 12 inch speaker model is smaller and output is 250 watts. I didn't know that. The 12 inch weighs about the same but would be easier to transport. Bugera says the 1000 watt claim is peak output and standard in advertising. I think it's misleading. Let me start off by saying that this is not a review of how the Behringer Bugera BXD15 or BXD12 operates or performs. This is about engineering boasting and incredible claims. 1000 watts output given the input consumption is impossible. There are no amplifiers that are more than 90% efficient no matter what the class. Without getting into specifics and difficult math, remember this easy rule: No instrument manufacturer is going to push more output power to a speaker than it can handle. So if you want to know the true wattage of an amplifier, look at the maximum speaker wattage. It will be less than that. So in the case of the BXD15, it is less than 250 watts output and the BXD12 is less than 200 watts output. Look up the speaker spec.s on the Bugera site. Regardless of the claims and funny math. Do not base your decision to buy these amplifiers on Bugera's wild claim of output power. Also, If the manufacturer hides the max speaker wattage, like Vox does on cheaper amps, I would be highly speculative. But in this case, no matter how much fairy dust they sprinkle on it, the math is not possible.Jobrazen
Ill start out by introducing myself. My name is Mike. I've been playing bass for the last 10 years along with guitar. I've switched to mostly just bass for the last 3 years of that time. I play upright bass in a rockabilly/folkabilly band. I've had to rely mostly on my preamp and the house sound for most of that time. I've played on Orange, Ampeg, Fender, Behringer… Pretty much any amp I could get my hands on. I upgraded to this hoping to get the bottom end that the upright demands. Im using a Vic Victor bridge/neck piezo pickup on my upright. This amp is AMAZING!! I have not bottomed out this amp. It is able to be driven very hard and keep up with any slapping and popping that I do along with the steady grooves. The Onboard compressor smooths out my playing much more than I ever knew I needed! Typically with acoustic instruments, especially big basses, you fight to keep feedback and harmonics in control. I can safely say that it is not nearly an issue with this amp. occasionally you can still run into a feedback situation but, you really have to be pushing it to have it happen. The 15" turbosound speaker is also very musical and accurately defines the big bottom end and the slaps that my bass produces. The amp has plenty of power to be heard over guitars and drums. It is also surprisingly light weight for how much is crammed into it. My old amp with a 12" speaker was close to 38 lbs and was no where near as loud as this one. This amp weighs around 46lbs. Im able to lug it just as easily and have no need for an extension cabinet which of course saves me a ton of room. The EQ is very easy to dial. The additional push buttons for ultra low and ultra high are a very nice touch. The adjustable mid frequency is another huge bonus and helps control over resonant frequency's with my bass. It is super easy to dial in a tone for any style of playing. Im able to get my upright set up in no time for the country gigs. Also I can set it up in no time for my electric bass guitars if im feeling a little more metal! The amp also has a separate foot switch (fsb102b) that you can purchase. I purchased mine with the amp and it is very sturdy and fully built of metal. I do not see myself breaking this anytime soon from stomping it. The controls you get are a "Mute" and a "FX Loop". The Mute is very handy for tuning and the switchable FX loop is something Ive never had but I will start using now. It will make my life so much easier. I run a digital delay/tape/looper pedal along with a chorus pedal for some atmospheric parts of songs. Lastly price… Right now as of this review you can purchase this amp for 265.99. There is nothing close to that price of the same quality as this amp. Ive looked! Another thing to note is that these are refurbs "as of this posting". I personally have no issue purchasing something that has been refurbished, especially if it was done by the manufacturer. I can only speak on my luck but my amp came to me looking brand new! not a single scratch or dent. Ill leave you with my thought process. I researched several amps before my purchase. I could not find to many reviews for this amp. But the videos on youtube and a handful of comments made me believe it would do what I needed it to do. It does SO MUCH more and has proven itself to be such a great value. If you need a big sounding, room filling,feature packed, LOUD amp that can keep up with you!, Give this a shot. I am one of those guitarists who does not use distortion; mainly playing 50's, 60's, and country. Having done my research the '59 Bassman seemed to be the ideal amp for me with it's clean and full-sounding tones when used with my Fender and Gretsch guitars. Previously, I had used modern-spec amps and simply ignored the high-gain options, but they usually sound too mellow and a bit muddy when used clean, presumably so that when switched to distortion mode, they aren't too "fizzy" sounding. This amp is hands down the best amp I have ever used; no frills, just Normal and Bright channels with common bass, mid, treble and presence controls. Good for humbucker-equipped guitars, too: simply add pedals if you must, but your starting point will always be good tone, which puts this amp ahead of most others. Higher volume settings are likely to induce a little overload (think early Kinks hits), but it all sounds natural and not contrived or OTT.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
This is well known as a preferred amp for Lap Steel and Pedal Steel players, and that's why I bought it primarily. Also for Baritone Guitar (B to B tuning). SO no surprise that it excels on those duties. The big surprise was that this is now my preferred amp for P-Bass with Flatwound strings, vs. my modern Mesa bass amp. Perfect tonal balance, versatile across all playing styles, warm, and plenty of headroom (I only turn it up to 3 at small club gigs). It also excels on Hollow Body Guitars and Telecasters, giving a very even sound across the registers, with warmth, depth, openness, and room for expression. Bought this for small acoustic and/or electric gigs. I was kind of worried that it wouldn't cover the sound of a drum kit ( at 200 watts) but it does fine for small/medium rooms. Sound is very, shall we say, adjustable, seems to have a good range. I have a mulit- effect pedal and I was very impressed with the way the patches seem to sound through this. I can’t say enough positive things about this amp. Starting with the sleek look, the small size of this amp is super convenient. I live in NYC so I travel by foot/train with the amp a lot and it’s nice to not have to lug around a 50 pound amp. The beautiful thing is that no power and no sound is sacrificed by the size of this amp. I play in a technical death metal band tuned to G# and this thing produces those low notes extremely well. After 5 years and hundreds of bar gigs together my trusty Rumble 500 head started acting up. I would turn it on and nothing, unless I popped a string, then it would pop on and pretty much stay on so I still gigged with it but in the world of GAS this is more than enough reason to get a new amp. Am I wrong? So I sold my backup rig which was a 77 Ampeg V4 and set out both TB and YouTube on the dreaded amp comparison ride. At the end, I was about to buy a Mesa Boogie WD-800 but then some reviews of the EBS Reidmar 750 swayed me at the last minute. I ended up returning that amp right away, out of the box the power light worked in the morning trial but was non working at the evening trial. That and I could not get a sound out of it that I liked. It also felt like the master volume pot had an unusual audio taper to it so it was too loud at 2! Also the on board compressor was a bit weak to me. Im sure its a great amp as many have said but not for me. So the search continued and I ended up on an unlikely choice. Unlikely in that if you told me I was going to be all giggly about how awesome my new PEAVEY bass amp was I would have maybe been a little disappointed as I have just a trace amount of brand snobbery. I played through a Demeter prior to the Rumble, Ill have you know! Snort..Snort So I ended up getting the MiniMega. Just from last nights show alone Im sold and in love with this beefy little gem. I went straight from the PO to the gig and just plugged it in, did minimal EQing and loved it from start to finish. The on board compressor works very well and seems to be designed to affect the highs more than the lows which is really nice, seems to be weighted just right for bass. I play American Standard Ps only for the record. Today I played with it at home and its really about perfect for what I do (rock cover bands) and is so flexible I cant imagine a situation where it wouldnt fully deliver. The EQ is super powerful but with the right frequencies so theres a wide variety of GOOD sounds. . Ive had very powerful eqs on amps before but they gave me a huge array of not so great or just so so sounds. Im sure many of you know what Im talking about. The KOSMOS knobs are cool too. The outer is a sub harmonic synth and the inner one I would describe as make my neck sound like a stand up knob. Probably not what Im going to find in the manual if I ever look but thats what it sounds like to me. Very cool indeed. Seriously, I turn the knob and my neck gets extra woody sounding, like an upright. Im not kidding about there being a lot of cool and useful tones in this thing. The extra power over the Rumble 500 was noticeable and nice. Then the guitar player chimed in on the first break, dude, that amp blows your old one away by far! I would highly recommend you try one of these if you are shopping for that perfect all around bass head. You can always return it if you dont like it but youll likely be blown away like me. The one I purchased was discounted as B-Stock but I cant find anything sideways on it at all. Purchased it from ebay seller proaudiostar. Value wise I would easily say it'srileyboyjim
From the start, the packaging is very attractive when it arrives. Head comes with a hand bag style carrying case, which is a nice bonus. Form factor is nice and compact and weight is at 7-10 lbs at most. This unit is perfect for easy travel. Sound wise, this head is clean and powerful. The lows can be a bit overbearing and when you dial it back to tame, it seems the taper off and thin out a little too soon so it can be hard to dial in the sweet spot at times. I found it best to dial in with the punch button disengaged. If you have a bass with an active EQ, this slight issue can be resolved much more easier. Otherwise, this amp has a wide range of tones and is well worth the price of admission. The Kosmos feature is cool but was not useful for my primary purposes of playing live. It was cool to hook up via D.I. to my interface, jam on my 7" computer monitors and shake the house!Henry

Huge sounding and a lot of power for such a small amp. The Spark Control App gives you loads of choices from classic sounds to the most modern of amps out there today. You also have tons of effects to use in conjunction with all of these modeled amp choices. All of these possibilities can be saved as your own personal presets which can endlessly be tweaked to make you sound and play your best. You can also use the Jam Along feature which syncs to iTunes, Spotify, etc. while also displaying the chord changes as you play. Used it only for practice. Unusable for live performance. Every update was a fiasco and after 11 months, it only works as a Bluetooth speaker as the Amp section gave up. Google that issue and found it happens to many other users. Defective chip and Positive Grid helpdesk is not responding.Cory
The amp is awesome. Well built and solid, very pleasant to look at, easy to use and the sound! Oh man, the sound of that little amp is just beyond belief. Full and rich, it fills the room as though it were five times the size. With the app on my android phone, fine tuning the sound is easy and intuitive, and you can save your sounds as presets if you wish. But even without using the app, the presets that ship with the amp are simply stellar. In my opinion, the amp is well worth the price.Richard L.
