At the price, it's impossible to beat. The tuners and the bridge are better than I expected. Electronics work nicely, usable strings for a burn-in period. It needed less than 10 minutes to tune, adjust and intonate. The neck is unfinished, I'm going to seal it with tung oil and lightly scuff it with some steel wool. I'm already assuming the frets will have some high/low spots. Surprisingly, the fret ends are dressed nicely. I see people have complained about cutting their fretting hand on sharp fret edges. Not the case here but necks do shrink a tiny amount depending on climate and that shouldn't really be a valid complaint. It's easy to fix fret ends and at this price I would expect to do it. No pick guard so the patched area near the pickups can be seen if you look close enough. As I'll be putting in a pick guard eventually, it's no big deal. I did buy it as slightly scratched so that's it for the "issues". In short, I'm happy. It's also a fair bit lighter at the body than I expected. I don't see that as a bad thing.kfries-half

For a guitar player getting into the world of the bass guitar this was almost too good to pass up. After a simple bridge adjustment and raising the pickups a tad this is a really functional bass to learn on. Sounds good, no fret buzz (outside of my poor playing). Pots work OK – really impressed for around $50!! It is lighter than higher quality bass guitars, but so far so good! Thanks!!velofan

I bought this so I can have something to plug in to at home to practice songs I need to know. It gives plenty of volume for solo work and 3 EQ knobs to adjust tone to fit different styles a little better. Not sure if it would work in a full band setting, but I have the volume about an 1/8 of the way up and I can hear myself perfectly fine. My one minor complaint would be that there's a lot of funk type "punch" when using a pick, but for what I use this for it's not that big a deal. I just wanted a cheap amp that can handle bass frequencies.Kyle

I have amps from 3 to 225 watts. This 15w bass amp is just right for my U-bass when playing with acoustic folks. Good sound & size, but power cords present a trip hazard. I REALLY WISH it could also run on batteries, too, then it would be perfect. Are you listening, Fender?Bill

I got this little amp for practicing song sets with our church's Praise Team. That is to say I practice at home and play along with videos or CDs. I don't feel like moving my 300+ pounds of Acoustic stack into the stereo room which also doubles as a workshop of sorts. This amp is a lightweight at about 16 pounds and is very easy to move around the house if need be. As for the sound, it has 15 watts and an 8-inch speaker. If you want to get big, booming bass out of it, I'm going to laugh in your face — repeatedly. I don't want to blast my neighbors with my Conklin 7-string either, so this bass is all and everything I want and need for my purposes. I think the price is very reasonable. I have played both electric and upright bass for 40+ years and like a lot of folks wanted a smaller, more portable, amp. I primarily play in a 4 piece acoustic group w/ 2 guitars, upright Bass, and violin. Volume is never an issue. I picked up a Max208 2 years ago and it has become my primary live amp. It sounds fantastic with either my MIJ fretless Precision A/E or any of my uprights. I have several larger rigs that sit in a closet as well as 2 Phil Jones amps (a Suitcase and a Briefcase) and I love the fact that the Peavey is: 1) Inexpensive, certainly for the level of performance. 2) Light and portable 3) Very flexible as far as tone control 4) Much better sounding live than the Phil Jones Briefcase which cannot match the low end of the 208. I did one mod to mine and added a Speakon / 1/4" combo jack to allow plugging in a small external speaker cabinet with it's own passive volume control that I locate behind the violin player who is on the opposite side of the stage from m and it works great for acoustic gigs giving a broad balanced stage sound. We only use (1) Bose L1 that all mics and guitars go through and it gives me an extremely portable system that has never let me down. I have a BSX Allegro EUB as well as a 53 Kay and an 80's Engelhardt. When I take the little Allegro and the 208 it is one trip from the car to the stage and ready to go. You can't beat it. If this ever gets lost, stolen, etc I will for sure get another. Peavey has a winner with this piece. I would highly recommend this to anyone (except someone looking to play loud rock) looking for a great inexpensive combo. If you want loud with it the 208 DI is very clean and it makes a fantasic stage monitor with the front angled speaker configuration.Steve

The sound to weight ratio on this amp is impressive. I bought it to replace/downsize an early 2000s Peavey TKO 115, and the 208 puts out more volume and weighs less than half as much as the 115! Simple controls, and enough options for a variety of genres. You get mild overdrive, vintage or modern voicing (via contour), sub-octave harmonics (via kosmos-c), and plenty of eq options. I'd recommend a cover (nearly any 12" loudspeaker cover will fit), because the finish is not as durable as previous models. I'm using this for small venues (no drummer) and medium venues with full band and PA.Trick

Okay, so the Double Four really is impressive. The tone you can get out of it is super good. Don't forget. Thus is a practice amp. For gigs or rehearsals with drums, you'll probably need more amp. I really think it'd be tough to beat for solo practice or with a couple of guitars. It's the perfect size for travel. If you're thinking about getting one, go ahead. You'll like it!James

this little thing is truly amazing, those little 4' speakers sound great and its smaller that a shoe box but we live in the physical world and the sound is still transported by air, so low frequencies reach the limit of this little wonder very quickly, if used at low volume the sound is very decent. but when compared to a fender Rumble 25 ($99) which has an 8' speaker or even the Phil Jones Micro 7 (7 inch speaker+ 3' tweeter) there is no contest, the bass and headroom improves dramatically. So my recommendation is, only good for practice and or low volume acoustic duos or trios (no drums). A preamp or high pass filter before the input helps a lot.AgostoMortal

This amp is perfect! Whether using it for practicing charts, songlists, or just jamming to playlists! Its exactly like playing with a group. The size is awesome and ridiculously powerful. It was a complete surprise! I read all the reviews and expected it to be adequate but I didn't expect it to exceed my expectations! So easy to use and move around and handles the low B without any distortion…period. It is pricey, but I believe you get what you pay for. After 40 years of playing I can say I've not found another "practice" amp that has made me this pleased and satisfied. A great buy!!William

Bought one of these a couple years ago for a practice amp at home. Can dial in a tone that is pretty close to my Genz Benz that I gig with. Its only 10 watts, so you arent going to play with a live drummer with this thing, but for what I am using it for (learning tunes and general practice) it does the job and its very inexpensive.Andy at AC2 Aircooled

I bought this amp to use for practice at home, and to do some recording into an audio interface. To my surprise this amp gets quite loud, I suspect it will hold its own in a jam session or even a small gig. Tone on both the clean channel and with SGT engaged is excellent, SGT level goes from very low (slightly dirty, warmer tone) all the way up to full distortion – can't wait to play a rock solo with this.Isaac D

This is a great little combo at a terrific price! It gets quite loud without unintentional distortion, the SGT gives a nice, warm distortion effect, and the features include a balanced XLR output (for easy connection to a mixing board), plus 1/8" headphone output and aux input, so you can play along with music in your headphones and not disturb others. This is a great practice and small gigging amp for the price range. Built well as only to be expected by Ampeg. To be honest though, I think my Fender Rumble 40 has better tone with same size speaker and lighter in weight for a lesser price. I love the option of having both amps because I keep one at church and one in the spare bedroom for private quiet practice as both have that feature..not to take away from this Ampeg at all, I love the looks of the checkered tolex and color better than the silvery Fender grill. I wanted a combo amp that was portable enough for me to handle easily (as I am 62 and no longer interested in hauling around large heavy equipment) but it had to have powerful low end and good sound. I just got this amp yesterday and it's hard to believe that amp that weighs just 34 lbs. can sound this big. I shook my house checking on the volume. At this price point and at this weight, I don't know how anyone could do better. I am replacing a Acoustic brand head that simply got to be too unreliable after a few years. I'm including a picture of the back panel on this amp which I couldn't find online anywhere. The amp does have a balanced line out, an effects loop, and a speaker out to add an additional speaker cabinet. This amp has everything most of us need. Some people would like a tweeter but this amp sounds fine without it and I often hear some noise out of tweeters anyways.Mike

I play at churches mostly so i end up using DI and IEM's. BUT i always have this in the car in case its needed. this combo is really a great deal. perfect for home use and acoustic gigs. It also has a Direct out so you can use it as a monitor and send your signal to the board. its roughly 35lbs so i have no issue carrying it in one arm and my bass in the other. the build quality is pure BEEF same construction as Markbass's cabs. now on to sound. this thing has the little mark 250 head in it. and like with all Markbass heads, all you have to do is set the EQ flat and go from there. the head is rated at 250W @ 4ohms but the cab is an 8ohm cab so youre only getting about 150W from it on its own but there is a second speaker out that you can hook up an extension cab to it. i currently use another 1×15 cab when i need but but rarely do. This thing is LOUD. overall, if youve managed to make it though this disorganized review, i think this amp is in a weird grey area. if you need something for the house and small acoustic gigs it rules, but you will end up wanting more. i should probably mention that you could buy a new head and just use this combo as a cab.SeizeTheKarp

Really great tone. I was worried the 8-inch wouldn't have enough bass, but it's got more than enough for bedroom volume or jamming with a guitarist. I've even used it at practice with my band. My drummer is quieter than most and it was actually able to keep up. Still, I wouldn't get this if you don't have something for practice/shows. But for playing alone or having something easy to bring to a friend's, this is really great.Mason H

I own this white Jazz Bass Limited Edition Affinity series made in Indonesia, I have the first generation that came in 2020. Neck is great, specially if you have small hands, I dont but it feels very conformtable to play, body paint is very good, frets are well made no sharp edges. Neck is one piece maple neck, sound is great I and the white color with white pickguard is always good looking bass. I own the real Vintage Fenders and this one is not my first Squier but is one of the favorite ones.Garedot

Got this on sale. Best practice combo thus far. I didn't even try it out since I've had other practice amps (Peavey, Crate) before and feared I'd just suffer with poor sound. Not so with this one. Tone is amazing. Hit's fundamental E string with no issues. Won't shake your room but tone is really solid. I tested using a spectrum analyzer (just for fun) and the crazy little 8 hits the lows no problem and with nice flat harmonics too. Remarkably loud. Have not tested but assume this could be used in a small room. I've been running the EQ's on flat. Dunno, maybe the technology has caught up with itself – better Xmax on the speaker, switcher power supplies, anyway, this is a great deal for a small combo and I'm redeemed from all the hard cone, no bottom end amp I suffered with back in the day..John

I got this amp to play along with Christian songs on You Tube. It has a very clean and clear sound to it. I once had a Fender 40-watt guitar amp that was quite louder than this amp, so don't expect it to blow you out of the room. It does what I want it to, and I can hear it well enough when playing along with the music. I bought a B25C when my main amp had to go into the shop for repair. I had been considering getting a smaller amp for practice or playing with a friend who does acoustic music. I compared this with the Fender Rumble 25. What sold me on the Acoustic is the wedge shape and the flexible tone options. Both amps sounded great, but the B25C had a wider range of tones. The 25 watts is perfect for practice and it has enough body to sound like a bigger amp. You can't beat it for the price.G.W

I use one of these for my nylon string Godin Multiac. I blend the nylon with a GR33 synth and run both signals into this amp on the clean channel. The issue I've always had with amplified nylon string guitars is the 'plucky' or 'plasticy' sound of them through guitar amps. This bass amp solved the problem for me. With the amp's treble and bass rolled off completely I can get a very round clear tone by using the guitar's eq to provide the brightness. Very light and powerful, and an unexpected solution to a long-standing problem I've experienced. The electric violinist in the band tried his setup through my amp with almost identical settings and he bought one also! Works very well for bass also, in a small setting.Jan-Mikael

TLDR: BUY IT! I ordered this amp when I bought my very first bass. For years I was stuck with a school Ampeg Little Stud bass from 1973. The bass itself was 40 pounds, and for all of its vintage appeal, I was not impressed by its condition or playability. The amp was even worse. It was a Backline 112 that weighed 50 pounds, and when I performed with it in a school gymnasium with a capacity of a mere 400 people, nobody heard me playing. When I bought my bass I knew that I needed a new amp. Enter the Rumble 100. If this is your first amp, you might think this is a little pricey, but trust me, it is beyond worth it. I'm only 5'1", and while I could carry the heavy Ampeg bass and amp, it was starting to hurt my back. But this amp is incredibly light. I almost expected it to have zero bottom end. But when I played it, I was shocked. The sound was very well-supported, even if it's played with the bass, low, and mid down and treble all the way up (which I wouldn't recommend… I mean, it's a bass amp…) I've loved this amp ever since. But I'm not a "pro" yet, so let me tell you what some professional musicians thought when they saw my amp. I performed with a popular local brass band that has been together since 1980. Altogether they have 50+ years of touring and gigging experience. They're used to lugging some pretty heavy equipment. When I walked in to the auditorium, I had my bass case slung over my shoulder, my amp in my hands, and all my music nestled under my arm. Of course the stage crew at the door all thought that the tiny chick (me) was about to drop everything, so they rushed over to help me by picking up my amp. They went, "What? We're wondering where the inside went, Is this it?" They thought it would sound awful. But that night, in front of 2,000 people (and there was a bass solo), everybody said they could hear me perfectly. The design is simple, the onboard controls are very effective and not too complex, and it plays loud and proud without hurting you.Bass Clef Kid

Like the rest of the bass players out there I've used all of the major brands. From old-school Acoustic Control heads and cabs from the '70's, to Ampegs etc etc etc…Well I've reached the point where that level of stage volume isn't needed for what I'm doing now; I shopped around, and despite some of the amazing combos available, I landed on this one. Actually the guitar player in our band mentioned that he had bought the 50watt version of this. I played through it and was impressed. For me it's the ideal unit for what I'm doing now – I still play some heavy rock (Mountain, Cream, Cactus, Trower), but when volume is required we of course use the FOH and good monitors for stage support. Having the onboard direct out is the best as it allows me to go direct into whatever board is being used, whether live or recording. Don't be fooled by the small size; the size is a real asset in terms of portability. The head is where it all starts, and the tonal range is wide so you can dial in your sound. In a live situation there's plenty of lows, highs and depth of tone. Playing in various size venues is no problem – this will carry without going through FOH in churches, smaller bars & clubs (50-100 capacity). Larger venues or live situations where stage volume is needed for impact or performance, then my personal recommendation is to use this as a personal monitoring device and go through the PA & stage monitor as a direct through the board. One last thing; the amp sounds as good on 3 as it does on 7. Any more than than 7 and it starts pushing the speaker, and not in a good way. But I've had this for several months now, use it gigging and recording regularly and overall am simply satisfied with the purchase. Like everything, this amp has limitations. You're not going to get the punch or volume of a high powered rig, and you really shouldn't be using a combo for something like that. But whether you're a beginner, novice, or weekend warrior or pro this amp, as well as the rest of this product line, is a tremendous option.jb

Holy cow, how the Rumble series have come into their own! Back when I last played music the Rumble series was kind of naff but this has really grown up! I'm told the 40w is the lowest power Rumble to get Class D amplification. I don't if that's true or not (Class D is still solid state), but the difference in tone between this and the 10-25w practice amps is remarkable. This one just has that something extra and finally "sounds like a bass" vs smaller amps. And it's not volume, it's tone. I chose this over other amps for the 4 band EQ and having control over the mids; having knobs for low and high mids feels like better tone shaping for my purposes than a mids and a contour knob. YMMV. The only thing I would add to the Rumble 40 would be a built-in tuner. I would rather have a tuner than the rather weak drive Fender included. I would ignore the drive and use a pedal if you want that sound. But that's small potatoes because the clean signal is so, SO good. If you're looking for a home amp, stretch the budget a little and get the Rumble 40; the difference in tone from a 10-25w FAR outpaces the difference in price. This amp is one of the best bargains in bass playing.Eric

I have been playing bass since 1966, on and off professionally. I have had dozens of basses and amps. I also spent 42 years in the musical instrument business, attended 70 NAMM Shows and won a NAMM top 100 dealer award 5 years in a row before retiring. THIS IS THE WORST bass amp I have ever played. 10 minutes out of the box and I packed it up and sent it back. The other one I kept for keyboard because it was good enough for that, but certainly not for bass.Greg Billings

I saw some reviews prior to going to my local GC store and saw a couple of negatives so I was set on the Ampeg BA210V2. I came in the store picked a Jazz semi-comparable to mine and played the Ampeg. I liked the Ampeg but when I played the Rumble 500 I fell in love with it. I was sold. 15" speakers sound too muddy so I wanted 10". These are solid sounding speakers that don't lose bottom end. It sounded so much like a Fender should. I loaded my Jazz with some Seymour Duncan 70's Jazz Quarter Pounders and an Obsidian solid state circuit board and for the 1st time I had to back way off on the treble and still got the growl I wanted without active pickups. The "vintage" button can change the sound tone to the old throwbacks of the 70's and 80's. The contour isn't overbearing like some amps. At high volume there is very little distortion. I haven't had time to play with the overdrive like I want but it doesn't sound like an old stage ridden guitar fuzz box like so many of the others I have used. It can be used in many songs without sounding overbearing. The cabinet weight is so light. I didn't think something that light would be able to carry the low end well but it does. It will rattle windows in a heartbeat. Will try an 18" ext speaker here in a few months to see what that does. The 200 watt is a fine amp but pay extra for the 500 watt. Big difference in sound even though it is the same cabinet/speaker size. Still playing with the different settings to fine tune sound but there seems to be a large range of Fender tones. This has to be one of the best sounding small gig amps I've ever had.Rev T

Used in a 10-piece band (horns, piano, organ) so lots of frequency sharing and a need to fit the mix. I use in ear monitors, so I don't really hear what's coming from the amp and trust the sound engineer to get it right. The signal I got was clean and sounded good. Impression from the sound engineer were positive (filled the room with minimal PA feed, cut through despite frequency sharing, good stage volume, tight distinct bottom). In general, a good working rig for small to medium sized venues. I am considering adding the 115-extension speaker to take full advantage of the 500-watt capabilities. Do keep in mind that this is a good, lightweight gigging combo but do not expect the sound to be that of Eden, Agular or other boutique amps.Rick

Fantastic amp for the money. Light weight, easy to transport. Very loud, loud enough to play most club gigs. Clean and punchy with lots of low end and very articulate. Has a horn button to give more presence, especially when applying any slapping type techniques. Has a overdrive to add realistic tube type distortion. Works well with pedals. What else can I say? Overall: I had an Acoustic B200 Combo amp. I loved the sound of it because it had the same sound as the old '70's era Acoustic bass amps. I like a clean, clear bass sound. After burning up the power amps in two of the B200's I decided it was time to try something else, so I bought the Rumble 200. I plugged it in and turned it on for the first time, and in about 60 seconds I found the exact sound I was looking for – just like my old Acoustic. The tone controls are way simpler to figure out than the Acoustic was. It's nice to have a good sounding bass amp that I can carry with one hand! The only complaint I have is that the controls are on the top of the amp on the backside, that's why I rated features a 4. If they were on the frontside of the top that would be better, but front mounted would be best. But for the sound, quality, and price this is a very minor inconvenience. It's a good sounding and good looking little unit!Brett

Overall: I read all the reviews for this before making a decision between this amp and an Ampeg with a 15". I love Sunn and Ampeg bass amps: that is what I grew up with along with a Fender 100 tube amp that had a four 12 cabinet that rocked. Some reviewers stated this amp was straight out of the sixties or sounded like an old Bassman. They are right. First time I turned it on and turned it up a bit it sounded just like my Bassman 100 but with a deep throaty sound that old school bass players like me crave. How Fender was able to get a true tube sound into this solid state amp is pure genius. I feels like a tube amp. Deep and it seems to have a slight sag to it. Very impressive. I turn the horn off, leave the eq knobs at straight détente, use the vintage button in and it sounds incredible The overdrive channel is a monster to itself: horn off, straight up eq and you can go from mild breakup like you would get with slightly overdriven preamp tubes to an amp maxed out. think of Grand Funk, Deep Purple etc. I haven't spoken about the volume and wattage yet. When you crank it up to where you feel your pant legs wobbling and your stomach churning you realize that this is no toy. The decibels this can put out are truly amazing for it's size. I runs at 120 watts as is but add another 8 ohm cab and it jumps to 200 watts. That 120 is loud as hell and the only reason to add another cab is if you want a couple of tens and it would sound great. Myself, I would add the Fender one 15 cab and get that volume and bass that would take the house down. Looks like a toy, but a real fire breather inside.Mark

I'm enjoying the Vox VX50 as a practise Amp, it's small, light and quiet but has a nice tone. I can play it anytime without upsetting the neighbours. The only improvement I could suggest is maybe to simplify the controls, bass, mid, treble and volume is enough, spend the extra on speaker quality and power. Overall good though.Jason S.

As a bassist who plays steadily in restaurants and in house jams I have appreciated the light cabinet of the GK above all. At a foot and a half wide, 2 feet tall, the cabinet fits the cramped spaces in which I often play. Happily, it even fits in the front seat of the Miata MX-5. The sound is widely adjustable. I can get go from a hard, contemporary sound to the old school vibe, as needed. Controls are not complicated, which I like. I have broken things twice in these active 5 years. Fixed without sending it to factory both times. Once I stupidly tilted it back against a wall without any bracing. When it fell on its back it cracked the power cable input port. Pulling it out I got a big spark and a powder burn on the aluminum back. But I youtubed how to pull the amp and ordered the plastic port from the factory. A GK tech gave me a run-down of what to do via a phone call. Repaired it, reconnected it and have not had a moment's issue since. Recently a lightning strike extremely close to my house knocked out the wifi and an entire house circuit. The GK was plugged in during the strike. Afterwards it was not dead but wouldn't play – no sound. Took it to an amp repairman in Shreveport who found one of the op amps was dead. He replaced it for a hundred and I have not had a moment's issue. I'm entirely happy with it. I play a Hofner made in China, which is a beauty, and a Squier Jaguar SS, also a rock solid axe.trudeau

Purchased the MB210-II around a year ago. I was between this amplifier and the Ampeg Ba-210 and actually ordered the latter as an open box product. Well, luckily for me the Ampeg arrived nonfunctional, so I went with the GK for its extra power, and was introduced to a fantastic amp. Since I've played it at rehearsals and gigs, tossed in trunks and trucks, and it holds up beautifully. Its small design and 35 pound weight has my guitar players envious, and I've used this outside with no external amplification and filled up a park with clear sound. Honestly however, it does seem a bit sterile sounding and doesn't seem to have that "classic" tone or "vibe". But in terms of versatility, and portability, I wouldn't have any other amp behind me. I had been playing out of an swr working man 400w with the working man 4×10 for 10 years. The swr is def the king of low end tones but it wasn't very versatile and didn't give me the good active aggressive flea like sound that I wanted. On top of that my old cab weighs 97 pounds and the head is heavy af too. The gk 210 gave me exactly what I wanted. Nice low end but real clear punchy in your face treble and high mid. And it's 37 pounds. On top of every thing I swear this thing is louder at 350 watts than my swr at 400w. Can't wait to play so small shows with itStone(d) cole

Dear Team with the subject i had also previously marked the mail to you but there was no revert. On receiving the packet when i opened it , i found there is lot of noise when guitar is connected, later i discovered there is some object that is stucking against the walls of amplifier. On opening the panel i discover that the screws of the speaker were not tightened and the speaker was dwindling here and there.Ravish R.

It's a Christmas present, I've tried it, it seems ok, not happy with the way the carriers bashed the packaging and broke the plastic corners on the amp, had to glue them up.terrymarketman
