I just recorded a version of "Can't Find My Way Home" by Blind Faith. Clapton plays a small body guitar on the song. The guitar sounds great. I bought it after seeing and playing it at the NAMM show. Mine has no electronics. It came perfectly setup and the only thing I do is change strings. The tone is surprising for a parlor. The intonation is spot on up and down the neck. It has a full sound with good bass. I play it in group settings and the tone cuts through the larger guitars and is noticeable in the room. Others have commented how well it projects. The neck feels terrific (1.72mm). It's not too flat and is fuller than many of the modern acoustic necks. Clearly I'm a fan, but this thing is great and great for my purposes.Abster

Eine wirklich tolle Gitarre zu einen bemerkenswert guten Preis. Aber der Reihe nach: Man sollte sich nicht wundern – die Art & Lutherie Roadhouse ist, auch im Vergleich zu anderen Parlor Gitarren, relativ klein und der Korpus beginnt bereits am 12 Bund. Das kann, zumindest anfänglich, etwas ungewohnt sein. Es ist auch schwer dafür einen passenden Koffer zu finden. Die normalen sind alle zu groß. "Klein, aber fein!" beschreibt zunächst den grandiosen Sound. Der ist nahezu perfekt für alten Country-Blues. Und für die Größe der Gitarre richtig laut, dabei aber sehr ausgewogen über alles Saiten und Lagen. Da gibt es auf dem hohen Niveau kaum Alternativen und sie macht richtig Spaß! Für Folk oder Country würde ich sie dagegen nicht unbedingt wählen. Bei Ihrem speziellen Klang ist sie dabei überraschend stark abhängig von den richtigen Saiten. Mein Test mit den heute fast üblichen Plastik-ummantelten Saiten ging völlig daneben: Dann klingt sie wie eine billige Kindergitarre. Die originalen, kanadischen Godin Seagull Saiten sind hier aber leider praktisch nicht zu bekommen. Was tun? Ich habe den Eindruck, dass die Godin Saiten baugleich mit D'Addarios EJ16 sind, auch wenn sich die Farbkodierung der Saitenhalterungen etwas unterscheiden. Sie sind zumindest eine gute Ersatzlösung. "Klein aber fein" gilt auch für das Aussehen. Meine Havana Brown ist ein Hingucker. Nur das aufgeklebte Schlagbrett wirkt etwas wie aus der "geht so"-Schublade. Die auf Vintage getrimmten Mechaniken halten die Stimmung sehr gut. Bei den Tonabnehmersystem war ich mir unsicher, ob das EPM Q-Discrete von Godin besser ist als das Fishman Sonitone mancher Partnermodelle aus der Reihe. Hierbei hat mich der sehr kompetente Berater vom Musicstore auf die richtige Spur gebracht: Das Q-Discrete klingt noch eher wie eine runde Mikrofonabnahme, während das Fishman mancher Partnermodelle auch gut ist, aber definitiv etwas mehr Plastiksound produziert. Damit war für mich die Entscheidung klar – und ich bin auch nach Wochen anhaltend begeistert! Der Preis hat sich leider in den letzten Wochen aufgrund der Dollar/Euro-Verschiebung stark erhöht. Das gilt aber für den gesamten Markt und damit bleibt diese Art& Lutherie (von Godin) in ihrem Preis Leistungsverhältnis immer noch bemerkenswert günstig.

However, it is quite disappointing that the craftsmanship was lacking, since I always took great care with handling it, and the bridge snapped in half. I bought this guitar because it was the cheapest acoustic in the store and I wasn't sure I'd stick with playing. I have had so much fun with it a year later I feel compelled to write a review! This guitar looks, feels, and sounds great, and mine rarely needs a tune-up despite regular use. Folks are saying the action is too high but I haven't noticed (and as a newbie maybe that's helped me build finger strength more quickly, who knows.) The only con I can think of is the sound is a tiny bit thin, but for a casual player like myself, that's no big issue. Got this to downsize from dreadnought and I am extremely pleased. Specs on MF, M&A, GF, all say dreadnought on body type, it's a triple-o concert. Found the correct specs on Fender, which would make sense because they are the manufacturers. Medium strings sound better than light (in my opinion). Great buy and well constructed! My first all solid guitar & I would buy again! Fenders are economical and good quality! It's got really good sound and Fingerstyle sounds amazing! My arm does not fall asleep, from blood circulation being cut off, like it did with the dreadnought! If you are looking to learn Fingerstyle, or play Fingerstyle, and are looking for a comfortable guitar this is it! Also would recommend it for electric players who might be looking to play an acoustic!Guitarist

I am glad I did. This guitar has a very full balanced sound. Great projection. The neck is very comfortable though I prefer a satin finish. I have a pretty aggressive pick attack and vibrato and this thing has stayed in tune very well. I am very impressed. On my previous review I forgot to mention that the bridge pin, for the low E string, had a split towards the end and half way up on the side. I had taken the strings off to do a detailed cleaning and seen the split. Thankfully it came with one spare so I could finish my work and none of the other pins had any splits. Glued the split one, with wood glue, and have another spare! Guess it can be expected for a wooden bridge pin to split like that as it has the pressure of the string pulling against it. Had seen a video on YouTube that a guy bought a second hand one (Fender pm-3) and had the same issue. Note to anybody who buys a guitar with wooden bridge pins, check them after buying before it has a chance to break and fly out while you're playing! I play locally for hire as a solo acoustic guitar / vocalist. My primary guitar is a Martin GPCP Aura. I purchased the Martin SC 13E in hopes of finding a guitar with better action and playability. My first reaction to the 13E was really nice and it did play with less effort / strength than my GPCP. The first issue I noticed was string buzz on the 1st and 2nd strings. It wasn't awful but noticeable. I played the guitar that weekend at two shows. I was still noticing the buzz. So, I started the set-up investigation. The neck relief, the slight bow forward that a guitar neck needs, looked really good, maybe could use a bit more to help with the string buzz. This is an easy truss rod adjustment; however, I didn't change the truss rod setting. The next thing I looked at was the distance of the string height, above the 12th fret. My thought was I would try to lower this slightly if I decided to keep the guitar. The next weekend I got the guitar out at home before getting ready for my show that evening, to run through a new song I was planning to do at hat nights show. I took the SC13E out of the bag and the 1st and 2nd strings were touching the guitar at the 20th fret. I thought the saddle had somehow pushed down lower into the bridge…. I exchanged that guitar for another SC1E. GC person was easy to work with and got the exchange handled quickly. About 3-4 days I had my second SC13E in my hands. It also had the same string buzz, even though the neck relief and action looked good. I played a couple of shows with this guitar and then I started noticing the buzz getting worse. If you are still reading, the reward is at hand. lol I have decided that the problem with this guitar, and probably the other guitar, is the neck angle is off. I will explain why I think it is off and explain how you can check your guitar. I have watched hundreds of youtube videos trying to learn how to set-up and care for my instruments. I have watched neck adjustment videos put out by fender, for their strat guitars, because I wanted to know how to adjust my Acoustasonic Strat. But what I am getting ready to sell you, I have discovered on my own and may not be accurate, but here it goes. If I put a capo, or hold the strings down with my hand. on the 12th fret, there is a space between the strings and the frets above the 12th fret. A pretty wide gap at the 20th fret. On the SC13E the strings are almost touching and the 1st string is touching. Wa La I believe that neck angle is off. I think it was off on both guitars. So check yours before missing your return date. If you check your guitar and it has this problem, don't totally freak out. The SC13E has an adjustable neck angle, so it can be made perfect. If you find what I described above, I suggest contacting Martin Guitar and GC. Another thing to be aware of, the three Martin guitars I have owned had the nut groves cut too narrow. I took my GPCP to an excellent luthier. He filed the width and depth to correct specifications and filed down my frets (I had two that where high) Both of the SC13E guitars needed to have the nuts filed. If you are trying to tune your guitar by making a very slight turn to get it just right and the string doesn't increase pitch and then jumps to a sharp pitch, the string is probably pinching in the nut grove. Both SC13E's were boogers to tune for that reason. One of them broke the B string while tuning up from dropping the pitch. I am returning my second SC13E tomorrow and I think I am going to give it a rest for awhile. Maybe look for something different. FYI: I love my Martin GPCP Aura, unfortunately they discontinued that model. The sound I get from the Fishman Aura electronics is the best I have heard. PS: part of the reason the SC13E plays easier is they use a lighter gauge string. I put a set of the MA535T Martin Lifespan strings on mt GPCP and even with the truss rod loose, the strings don't pull on the neck hard enough to give me the neck relief that is needed. The SC13E is a beautiful guitar to look at and the electronics onboard sound very nice. I learned, I'm not a big fan of having the controls inside the sound hole. A little awkward to get to while strumming and the phase reverse switch is way back from the opening. If you like using the hole covers to fight feedback, I'm pretty sure you would be out of luck. I think this price range of acoustic guitar should come with a hard case. I gave this guitar a 2 rating because it has potential BUT i do think both of these guitars suffered from poor quality control. My luthier could have made both of these guitars sing beautifully but I refuse to buy a new guitar and send it for repairs, even if the repairs are set-up issues. A new guitar on the north side of a thousand dollars should show up playing without string buzzing and the strings close enough to the neck that you hand doesn't feel like you just hung from the monkey bars during an entire recess.Dale
I ordered this guitar from AMS on a Friday evening and it was delivered the following Wednesday, so kudos to AMS for prompt service. Trust me when I tell you that the guitar looks even more stunning in person than it does in the website images. The grain on the koa back and side veneers is distinctive and eye-catching. The pearloid rosette and fingerboard inlays are also well done. I purchased a set of bridge pins from Martin's website that uses the same pearloid, and they look nice. The neck profile is quite comfortable, and of course the unique heel-less design of the cutaway gives you easy access to the entire fingerboard. I expect to see this feature turning up on other Martin models down the road. The asymmetrical body shape is visually unique and phenomenally comfortable to play sitting down, which is mostly how I play. The sound hole tuner is a nice touch, and the Fishman MX-T electronics sound fine to me, although I mostly don't play plugged in. This is my first Martin guitar, and it is true what they say: Nothing else sounds like a Martin! Martin has really done themselves proud with the SC-13E. Highly recommended!
This is a beautiful instrument with a stunning full acoustic sound despite the deep cut away and relatively small body size. The amazing design allows for unlimited access to the upper frets and the whole instrument feels very comfortable to play. I wanted an acoustic guitar with the accessibility of an electric and this new design from C.F.Martin delivers that in droves without ever loosing it's acoustic personality and sound. I own a super jumbo acoustic made by another company but the SC13e makes it sound dull and lifeless even before it is plugged in. The SC13e has that familiar Martin sound which is full and beautiful. The fishman pickup will then allow that sound to be delivered to anywhere from a gig in a noisy pub to full stadium if required. What a stunning instrument!Reviewed by Kenny's Music custom

GC as always is on the ball! This is an enormous value for sure. I've owned, and still own many fine guitars, Gibson, Martin, and Taylor and others… and this Blueridge plays neck to neck with any of them. The volume is quite loud, thick, rich, deep yet bright, penetrating, and balanced with rich lows, and crystal clear high trebs. I find this guitar to play and feel, and sound very much like a $2500 Martin D-18…which I almost bought….till I tried this BR-140. …it fully cured my D-18 GAS! ..I now have my Martin D-18, and for $2000 less. Save yourself two grand…get this Blueridge BR-140. All solid honduran mahogany, back and sides, beautiful, and solid sitka top..rosewood fret board and bridge..genuine bone nut and saddle. Frets were dressed well, no glue slop inside like Gibsons. The poly finish is beautiful and durable, it will NEVER cloud up and deteriorate like nitro finishes or become sticky on the neck when playing and sweating…never…..that is one of the things I absolutely LOVE about this guitar. And it has the rich CLARITY and VOLUME in get in a D-18 for thousands less. I love the unique Dalmation pick guard…and I especially love the genuine mother of pearl inlays on the head stock..they are intricate and flawless, and it makes the D-18 look drab and uninteresting campared to this guitar. I would imagine Martin has a lot of heartburn over this $500 Chinese made D-18….and they should..it's real good with new strings and a nice set up. Bottom line…Does the Martin D-18 play and sound better? ..maybe just a TINY bit…Is the Martin D-18 worth $2000 more…that's just rediculous. Get this guitar if you want a D-18. You won't regret it. It is a real steal, and a real deal, and probably the best kept secret in the guitar industry. The secret is out! Get it TODAY!!!
Excellent sound for the price. It's certainly no Martin, but it's pretty close for it's price range. Surprisingly close. It's loud. The mahogany back and sides give the nice vintage sound. It's light and resonant. Can't wait to hear what it sounds like years down the road, after the wood has really "opened up." Perfect for flatpicking and strumming. I wanted a guitar that had nice bassy lows and shimmering trebly highs. This guitar fit the bill perfectly after I changed the light strings that came on it and put some mediums. I've had mine for about 3 weeks now and I love it.Kev
This is my third Blueridge guitar. Musician's Friend consistently sends me flawless, first quality instruments. If anyone has any doubt, Blueridge guitars are first rate, beautifully crafted, beautiful looking, great playing as well as sonically wonderful instruments. For those researching and conflicted over their purchase, I also own a Martin MMV dreadnaught and have played D18s, D28s, HD28s and am amazed at what beautifully crafted, perfect and awesome sounding guitars they all are. I feel the exact same way about my Blueridge guitars. As a patriotic American I wish all my guitars were American made, but I have to live within my means and my desire to play the very best I can afford. This is a great guitar, comparable to the very best and most expensive. Go for it. I also own a Blueridge BR-140A and BR-160 and this review would also describe them accurately. They all have rich warm bass, perfect mid-range and bright, even, and sparkling highs. I've learned that for my tastes medium gauge strings are best on dreadnaughts and the thickness of your picks determine the warmth and/or brightness of your sound. Experiment with different strings and picks till you find which combinations you like. I believe you are sure to like your new Blueridge BR-140.Guitarzan

I've owned this Takamine TC135SC Classical 24-Fret Cutaway guitar for six months now and I decided to let patential buyers get an opinion on it. All I have to say about this guitar is GOOD things. I was surprized at the guitars weight at first for the Preamp is heavy duty carrying 4 AA batteries. Since that very first impression everytime I pick up this guitar the warth builds and I am amazed each time I hit an open position E maj chord how balanced and smooth yet bright and warm this guitar is. I can get lost playing for hours up and down the 24 frets and wouldnt think of trading in or ever upgrading this to something different. I play mostly Flamenco with a lot of attack. If you want to have a subtle Classical guitar I wouldnt suggest this for a lot of sound is sacrificed by the preamp and cutaway even though I feel that the over all tone and volume is fantastic. I have a Taylor 814CE V Class and am hard to please with the sound quality of acoustic guitars. The Taylor has been my standard. I wanted a nylon string acoustic with a nut width close to my Taylor steel string.The Takamine TC135SC seemed to fit the bill. I added a Grover extension nut to raise the action (which is high to begin with) and am using it as a lap resonator. It is easier for me than the full size metal body square necks–I use a chair with a pillow next to me under the headstock to fully support the neck. It holds tuning quite well and the intonation is good. This is loud and gnarly–if you want smooth, this is not the instrument for you.Holly

Had done a lot of research on this guitar prior to buying so was pretty sure I'd like it – Canadian made, from Godin, made with their own wood from their own orchard, and although laminate is pressure tested. Guitar came with a label confirming the checks, but that I would really know. Sounds fantastic, lovely tone, a comfortable range, and a very manageable neck for my tiny calloused hands. I just recorded a version of "Can't Find My Way Home" by Blind Faith. Clapton plays a small body guitar on the song. The guitar sounds great. I bought it after seeing and playing it at the NAMM show. Mine has no electronics. It came perfectly setup and the only thing I do is change strings. The tone is surprising for a parlor. The intonation is spot on up and down the neck. It has a full sound with good bass. I play it in group settings and the tone cuts through the larger guitars and is noticeable in the room. Others have commented how well it projects. The neck feels terrific (1.72mm). It's not too flat and is fuller than many of the modern acoustic necks. Clearly I'm a fan, but this thing is great and great for my purposes.Abster

Schon lange wollte ich eine Taylor Gitarre haben. Der Hohe Preis hat mich jedoch immer davon abgehalten. Über Tausend Euro für eine Akustik Gitarre ist doch recht viel. Nun bin ich aber auf die Academy Reihe gestoßen, welche laut Hersteller für Einsteiger gedacht ist und die Optik hat mich direkt umgehauen. Eine Semi Akustikgitarre mit dieser wunderbaren Arm- Anschrägung für knappe 700 Euro? Yes please! Der Unterschied zu meiner ersten Gitarre, einer Epiphone Dreadnought, ist nicht nur klar hörbar: sie spielt sich ECHT wie von selbst. Also genau dass was eine Einsteiger Gitarre tun sollte. Nun bin ich kein Einsteiger mehr, aber man merkt den Unterschied. Der Tonabnehmer gibt zusammen mit meinem Vox AC15 (ebenfalls vom Music Store) einen Satten und warmen Klang, welcher sich durch kleine Drehregler noch bearbeiten lässt. Habe ich schon erwähnt, dass da einfach ein Stimmgerät eingebaut ist?! Wie geil ist dass denn? Und das Gigbag kann sich auch sehen lassen. Diese Gitarre wird nun hoffentlich für etliche Jahre mein treuer Begleiter sein. LG Tw
I have been playing this awhile, and recently went back to Guitar Center to try some more expensive Taylors. I walked out liking my Academy even better! Guitars 2x and 3x the price don't play better, or feel better. That bevel for the strumming arm is noticeably absent when playing other guitars. My neck is as good or better than the other Taylors I played. I have to admit the one with Koa wood is a richer sound, but the guitar didn't play as well (in my opinion) so I stuck with my Academy. Oh, and one of the more expensive guitars wouldn't stay in tune (felt like cheaper tuners). The Acadamy guitar sounds bright, and loud, which is not my preference, but it plays sooooo good that I can stick with it.Arcticfox
J'avais par le passé acheté ''de belles guitares made in Corée'' et quasiment abandonné la folk parce que trop éprouvantes à jouer pour les doigts. Et un jour, je suis passé chez Star's Music pour essayer une TAYLOR. Et là !!! Confort de jeux, puissance, précision et une harmonie incroyable dans les aigus. Tous ça en entrée de gamme!!! La qualité aussi des cordes y est aussi pour quelque chose puisque qu'on est aussi à l'aise que sur une guitare classique avec des cordes en nylon. Seul bémol, je ne suis pas convaincu par l'électro acoustique et je préfère l'enregistrer avec un micro devant pour ne rien perdre de la chaleur du son.
