Schecter Semi Hollow Body Electric Guitar For Sale (2024 Update)

I have been playing guitar almost five years and have five guitars and my Schecter Corsair is by far the best. The pickups aren't real duncans but the sound graet both clean and with destortion. The coil splitters work good and i can get any kind of sound i want out of it i want. The neck is one of the most comfortable i have ever played on. I play a Gibson SG Standard a lot and i would rather play this korean Schecter any day. The pics really don't do this guitar justice. Mine has the high gloss walnut finish on it and it's absolutely beautiful. I only wish i had paid the extra 50 bucks to get the bigsby on it but thats the only thing i would say to get different. So get this guitar RIGHT NOW you won't regret it.schecterman-zFEC_

I'm actually not into the bridge Tremolo style Corsair guitars but I liked the C profile neck and other specifications of this semi hollow. I own another Schecter guitar so I decided to give this semi hollow a try and as it turned out I'm very happy with this purchase. Received it in perfect condition and I was amazed at the precise intonation. It's a Beautiful guitar and I love the tone. I'm basically Tele and Strat guy because I love their C profile necks and low action. Schecter profile C necks come closer to that Strat comfort zone than any other brand I've tried. They feel nearly as good in my hands but the quality exceeds most higher priced guitars. Schecter has now replaced my Gibson and Epiphone. I still prefer the feel of my Strat but the price point of Schecter can't be beat. If I were to improve anything it would have been to add locking tuners and stainless-steel fret like the Schecter Apocalypse, for those features I would have gladly paid more. If you're a Fender guy and looking to add a Semi Hollow or Les Paul style guitar to your collection give Schecter a try before making that final discission.Ddancers

Lotsa good things said here already, the Corsair excells over most other models in its class at this price point; there are just so many things done right, the MIK quality is a cut above most all other entries, fit and finish, pro hardware, great electronics using the Duncan Designed coil split Pups, a very sweet voice indeed! Overall weight and balance make the grade, neck action with the Ebony fingerboard that gives great access above the 12th fret is above par; Grover tuners are precise, Tones Pro is an upgrade bridge system, attention to detail, great fret work, set in properly, body binding with bound headstock truly impresses! The Schecter Corsair may just be the most overlooked ES335 style guitar out there, it easily competes with so called "Master Built" and "Pro Shop" offerings at double the price! Overall the Corsair is an exciting and modern take on the classic semi hollowbody designs! In my opinion that is!Richard E.

My wife is a huge Cheap Trick fan. In her early 50s now, she's had a crush on Robin Zander since the late 70s. When she saw him with this signature guitar she thought it was a gorgeous instrument. So I surprised her with one as an anniversary gift! I've been playing guitar for more decades than I care to admit. And in my opinion, this is a lot of guitar for the money! Every time she lets me play it Im just so impressed with what a finely made instrument it is. Very solid and it feels great. Easy to play. Stays in tune even when using the Bigsby. And that bridge pickup is really sweet! Would make for a very nice alternative for someone who cant afford a Gibson but needs something better than an Epiphone. And Robin Zander actually uses it both with Cheap Trick and with his solo band.elfdude

First a much deserved word about Musicians Friend. Having made numerous purchases in the past year (5 guitars, two amplifiers & two sets of powered monitor speakers) hats off to Musicians Friend. They are professional, courteous and a pleasure to purchase from. They truly have treated me like a friend over the last decade and a half. My guitar arrived in pristine shape, no issues, of course. For me this is a beast of a guitar and cannot be beat, not even close, at this price range, nothing I've played compares. Love the sculptured maple top and head to toe creamy binding, simply beautiful. The setup was very good, slight string height adjustment, neck did not need adjustment and pickup height was good. Someone is paying attention with quality control. The neck is fast, silky smooth and easy to navigate, I can accomplish sweep picking with this guitar. Coil split is always nice with humbuckers adding to the available tone palate. Everything works and works well. Check it out if in the market for a very nice modestly priced guitar. Totally stoked on this purchase. I was looking for something solid with an inexpensive price point and came across this Schecter. I've never owned a Schecter before so I was unfamiliar with them but they put some serious quality into this instrument. Feels good in my hands and plays really fast and it looks fantastic. I do recommend upgrading the pickupups but if you're just looking to play around the house with this, it's set up and ready to go. Highly recommendableSmooks

I understand why people call this a beginers guitar. Some the components are cheap and the guitar felt unfinishhed. I own 8 guitars. All of them are higher end Made in America guitars. This guitar caught my eye solely because of looks. I decided to purchase it as a project guitar. After receiving the guitar it needed to be properly set up. I straightened the neck, leveled and radiused the fret board, re-crownded the frets, filed the fret ends and rolled the edge on the neck binding. I proceded to replace the bridge with a Graph-Tech Resomax NV2, and the tuners with Schaller M6 ones. I replaced the tone capacitor with an Orange Drop NOS .027 UF. The pickups are versatile and offer a wide variety of sound. I now have a guitar that has a fast articulate neck and fret board, great tone and sustain all for $160.00 in parts and my labor. This is no longer a " beginers guitar" . The guitar has great bones and was easy to convert to a guitar that you would pay over $1000.00 dollars for. Good job Schecter!Hodigity

I have several guitars, including a US Strat, Tele, and Les Paul; I've been playing this one the most this summer. The neck gets 10/10: not super thin like an rg550, excellent jumbo frets and bird's eye figuring, super comfortable and light. The body is slightly thinner than a Strat. I just wish it had a different 3-way switch in a different location; I keep hitting it while strumming in the neck position and it moves to the middle. The switch is the only clunky thing on an otherwise very beautiful guitar. The pickups are unlike any humbuckers I've ever heard, they are not like EMG 81/85, Duncan JB, or Dimarzio PAF Pro. They are hybrid active /passive each with their own preamps. Best comparison would be a very hot Gibson 57 Classic. They are very sensitive to distance from the strings; once you find your sweet spot the lead tones are amazing. Super sustain without over saturation. Bridge pickup can sound like the opening riff to "Feel Your Love Tonite".Gtrmath

Overall: I have to say there were a few issues with the guitar. So the price was great. zZounds is wonderful to deal with. Finish looks great and shipping was fast as hell. The bridge is amazing on this thing. It's not as nice as an original Floyd, but it is the closest thing you'll get without the price tag. I love the fret wires, love the neck shape, love the interesting truss adjustment. I happen to love the unconventional electronics, having two volumes and no tones is fine by me. Now there were a few dissapointing aspects as well.. the pickups are not as great as I expected. I'm NOT a fan of typical EMGs but took a chance on these retro actives – and I'm coming away with mixed feelings. These are much better than your typical stock pups, and are better than EMG 81/85 combo, but are a far cry from a good passive pickup. The finish on the neck makes the guitar feel a little cheap. It was made in Indonesia, not Korea. The strings don't line up perfectly evenly across the neck resulting in an occasional slip off the fretboard on the high E. My pickup switch arrived broken and this was not due to shipping – this is just poor QC and was what I was afraid of buying an Indonesian guitar. Finally, this thing did not come with a setup even close to playable. I had to immediately contend with buzzing, high action, truss adjustments, bridge height adjustment, the whole nine yards. I will need to pay 75 bucks on top of the price for a professional setup, possibly some fretwork, because the action is still nowhere near where I want it.I've had Korean made schecters before and they were amazing. They also played good right out of the box. That being said, once I fix the switch and pay for a setup, I think this will be a keeper.I have not contacted schecter about these issues yet, but I do intend to.Jim

Overall: I bought mine a few days ago and was instantly mesmerized, In tune right out of the box and the action could not have been better. I played it unplugged for about 2 hours. After plugging in and just shredding, I initially though there was a tone knob issue when I discovered that there are actually two volume knobs! the three way switch is nice and if you turn one volume all the way down you get the stutter effect that you hear occasionally in metal and hard rock. This guitar is built for speed and comfort. I like the inlay arrangement, the dots on the upper edge of the neck when you are most likely chording and on the lower edge of the neck past the 12th fret, makes for excellent visual references. I bought a satin forest green model and was impressed with the color. If you purchase the guitar the recommended case is very nice with a lot of storage options. Sound; This guitar sounds great, I like the fact that I can actually use the neck pickup and still get some bite on the guitar, this makes the leads stand out when you switch to the bridge pickup. The tone is unbelievable, this guitar screamed right out of the box. I like these new pickups, they actually have character, the response is awesome, volume adjustments really allow you to run your rig wide open and unleash the beast, or roll off the volume and tame it. I cant tell you how much of a deal this is. You literally can run a one channel amp, especially a tube amp and go from hot rodded over the top apocalyptic gain to clean with your volume only. Schecter also thought to ensure the volume knob for the bridge is close enough to do volume swells or mimic violin tones with your guitar. I put this guitar into a few amps and they all sounded astounding. I really can't say this enough, I have many guitars and many very expensive guitars, I immediately ordered another the next day! That is how good and what a great value these guitars are! I have not turned a nut, screw, or adjustment. Speaking of tools, this guitar comes with all you will ever need, well except a screw driver. Every Allen wrench and even the truss rod wheel adjustment tool is included. I like the wheel much more than the traditional truss rod adjustment on the headstock. I have these on my Charvels (I bought them here too) and the adjustment is a breeze, no worry about the right tool, or getting past the string retainer, its just that easy. You cannot go wrong with this guitar. You don't know me but if you are looking for a guitar that can actually cover the heavier end of the guitar scene, you just found it, will at least I did. I recently lost this guitar in a bus crash and was looking to replace it. Nothing else really sparked my interest or had the same features (coil split, decent trem, locking tuners) around this price so I just bought the same one again. Beautiful top, a really warm tone from the pickups that at first came across as muddy, but after a few tweeks it has a beautiful deep, richness to the tone. Overall: I actually purchased it expecting all the midrange I wanted. I was not surprised that it has All the midrange and then some! would have purchased it anyway because of the looks , Abalone vine of life on a ebony fingerboard. Absolutely stunning. A mahogany & maple semi-hollow body + 25.5" set neck + piezo deliver unique sounds no other guitars I know do. I'm not a big fan of the way this guitar looks (veneer flame maple and reddish brown color), but the important thing is it sounds great. 14R fingerboard and X-jumbo frets are huge pluses too. A Korean Schecter means it trounces US Fenders in build quality. It is light but not super light, probably like 7.5lbs. The chamber is pretty large but the maple top is pretty thick too. The unplugged volume is not much more than solid bodies but the lower strings do have a little more resonance. Before buying I had a doubt about the pickups: Schecter's catalog says "Diamond Plus" are shared with $400 Omen. I don't know if they are really the same but these have nice vintage sounds and I have no issue. The split single coils don't produce much twang/quack, just clearer acoustic-like tones. The piezo sounds good too, even though it demands a separate amp setup. Also there is a huge volume difference especially with split single coils. I haven't tried myself yet but supposedly the outputs can be split with a stereo cable, so that feels like a must during live gigs. I prefer 25.5-scale guitars, I feel they have more clarity and this guitar doesn't disappoint. The cleaner tones are acoustic-like even with the humbuckers. The dirty tones are warm and viscous, kinda like Santana but with great clarity. I love Schecter because they build guitars nobody else does like this one.A semi-hollow rocker

I love the EMG and Sustainiac option this guitar has. The neck is fantastic. Floyd Rose is perfect. What's not to like? This guitar has quickly became my number one. And I do own quite a few guitars. I've owned this over a year now and its not going anywhere. If they are still available I would advise you to buy one now. I got the matte black one. Beautiful finish. All are.Larry

Overall: This thing is built solid. My issues are with the pre-delivery stuff. I was figuring that there would be a quick inspection of it to make sure that everything was on the up and up. It got to me with one broken string, three of the other five were at full tension while the other two were relieved of tension. I've never set up a Floyd Rose, so I'm about to embark on an adventure with that. Aside from that, it sounds decent. I've never been a fan of EMG, and these definitely sound like their bottom end pickups. Very muddy, and hard to really get a tone that works for me. I'll be changing those out. It's a really great platform to put in the things that I want though, so no big loss there. The paint job is also really nice.Jacob

Overall: Let me start buy saying that I have played other Schecter's in this same price range that were very nice to play. Unfortunately this is not the case with this instrument. First I'd like to talk about the tremolo are, the pop in bar stinks, the retaining nut on the underside of the base plate would constantly loosen itself making the arm move anytime you would adjust your position which in turn made an horrific noise. the only way to fix this issue is to remove your strings and springs, then remove the tremolo from the cavity, now you have access to the retention nut, it's a giant process. Which brings us to the tremolo springs, terrible get rid of them. $629.99 and this guitar doesn't come with noiseless springs? could schecter not spend a few extra dollars to make this guitar even somewhat playable?
