Guitar looked fine when I received it. Bought it on sale a little over a year ago and the guitar has developed a haze or blush under the finish that cannot be "buffed out" and looks horrendous. Everyone has told me it is from putting on the finish while the wood still contained moisture. The guitar has a 2-year "repair" warranty but I have to pay to ship both ways and there's no guarantee they'll even do anything. When they receive it they'll decide if its a manufacturing defect or not, which it clearly is. Then, If "they" decide it is, they couldn't tell me exactly what they would do. Is MF going to repaint and refinish the whole guitar, or try to buff it out anyway leaving it in worse condition than when I sent it? Or do absolutely nothing after I pay 40 for shipping both ways? I honestly don't care what their policy is, this is unacceptable, They sold me a defective product and it should be replaced at their expense. I have 2 Electric Ibanez guitars, but I'll never spend another penny at Musicians Friend or on Ibanez.MetalTeK
I twice received this guitar in sub-standard condition. The first one had two scratches and one polishing mishap, all of which were under the final gloss coat (so they couldn't be fixed). I called to request a replacement, was assured that problems like this were unusual, and that they'd send me a replacement right away. When I received it, it was worse than the first. There was a very visible semi-circle indentation about two inches below the sound hole, almost as if they went to stamp the sound hole there and then repositioned the machine. Because I had a gig that weekend and needed a guitar I had to keep one of the blemished versions (I kept the first one), and Musicians Friend did refund me a little money, but it was still quite disappointing. That being said, the guitar itself has a beautiful tone and plays with ease. The onboard tuner is convenient and accurate and I have no complaints about the overall performance.B&B
I am primarily a bass player but I was interested in purchasing a nylon string/classical style acoustic/electric guitar. I had checked out a few costing more at one of the big music stores in town. I then saw the Ibanez and thought I would check it out. I really liked the sound and features And actually thought it sounded better when amplified than one of the more expensive ones I tried. I then saw the one I finally purchased from Music 123 as an returned mint condition item. The price was great compared to a "new" item and it was delivered in mint condition. My only disappointment was that it was advertised as the earlier model that had an XLR output in addition to the standard 1/4" output jack. The newer models only have the 1/4". Also as a cost cutting measure the bridge seems to be a plastic material but does not seem to adversely effect the sound. One thing I do like about it compared to other classical guitars that I looked at is that it has fret markers on the fingerboard. All in all I do think it is a good quality and sounding guitar forr the cost for those wanting to start off learning a nylon string or just wanting to have just another option to play in their collection.

As soon as I picked up this guitar, it felt like it had been my guitar my whole life! The narrow neck and quality craftsmanship make it probably the most playable guitar I've ever gotten my hands on. The materials and look of the guitar are absolutely beautiful, and it sounds even more gorgeous. The pickup and microphone blend option is amazing, so you can play percussion or really capture rhythmic slaps and plucks of your fingerstyle. The cut away gives you that extra freedom near that wonderful area past the 12th fret, and arrived out of the box with perfect intonation across the entire fret board. Cut away doesn't effect the quality of the sound, and also just looks very good. The gig bag is as nice as it gets. I could not be more pleased with this purchase.Colin O
This guitar is really excellent, plenty loud and round sound from the tight-grained cedar top. The saddle and nut are high quality, and the craftsmanship across the rest of the instrument is great! The headstock especially is beautiful. I purchased a scratch and dent instrument, there were several marks in the finish in seemingly random spots, hard to tell exactly what caused them. There were also a few pin-sized bubbles in the finish (specifically near the edges on the body) that easily scratched off, leaving a hole directly to the wood itself. Very minor, but unsure of it was a factory flaw or just the finish being naturally delicate. Of course, it doesn't really affect the sound or playability of this wonderful instrument!Dan
I just received my Solea SA-C guitar in the mail and I could not be happier with how beautiful this instrument is! I am quite literally blown away by the beautiful wood grain of the cocobola back and sides! The fit and finish seems very good although there are a few small imperfections that you can find if you look close but overall this guitar is a gem. I've never owned a classical guitar before and ordered this one after doing some research. I did not want a Chinese made guitar and I wanted all solid wood. I first ordered a Cordoba Solista but it was back ordered so I cancelled and ordered this Solea and I'm happy I did because it's simply gorgeous and sounds exactly how I had imagined it would. I typically play steel string acoustics. I wanted a quality nylon string guitar without the wide flat neck of a standard classical guitar. This is it. Extremely well made with quality woods (no laminates) that has a great sound (both amplified and unplugged). It does not have a large body and projection is somewhat limited when playing unplugged but has incredible sound both amplified and not amplified. Can be played quietly when everyone else has gone to sleep, or can flood the house with music if they're awake. The action and intonation on this guitar was fabulous right out of the box and I didn't have to make any setup adjustments. This is an awesome guitar and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a nylon string acoustic.John
In 1981 I had three guitars, two of them acoustics, and one of those was an Ovation Country Artist–a nylon-string guitar with a 14 fret, comparatively narrow neck. It was my first good guitar, but when I left for grad school, I kept only a Martin OO-18, and sold the Ovation. In the 30 years since, I have been trying to find a replacement, I tried various Ibanez and Yamaha guitars, but they didn't have what it took. Then, a couple of months ago, needing a brain break, I left work and took myself to the acoustic room at Sam Ash. There was another guy in there playing, so I looked for a quiet instrument, and took this one down off the wall. Immediately, I knew that it was special. The clarity of the tone, and the richness of the bass, it was all there. The other guy liked the sound too, and soon we were jamming and telling stories. Both of us tried other neoclassical guitars, and agreed that this one was best. I loved the guitar at first note, but when I looked at the price tag, I knew I could never own it. So I bought (online) a similar guitar, but it lacked the feel and sound of this one. My wife heard me playing, asked what I thought about the similar guitar I'd bought, and I explained that it wasn't the same. Then she told me to buy this one. So I did, And I have been playing it daily since then. The OO-18 is still with me and still gets some time, but right now my fingers itch to play and hear this one. Did it replace my long-gone Country Artist? Not exactly–this Takamine is significantly superiod to the Country Artist in all respects. Even if I don't play it plugged in 🙂Andy M_S

This is my first classic style guitar. Its heavy, really heavy, I thought it would be light to pick up. Its really well made. The pick up are great and very bright. Shipping strings are good. No case or cover, box was well done, awesome even. Has a nubone nut, had to lube quite a bit for tuning. I feel like its a bit over priced, but that might just be me. Again, its solid, like you can smack someone with it and it won't care. I love the head stock. I got this because my hands are falling into ruin from diabetes. I'm trying really hard to find a falt for it, its just a beefy hard core classic style guitar. Volume is pretty low. If your getting into nylon strings i'd recommend it. So after about 40 years of playing music and traveling everywhere I had never actually owned and played a hybrid acoustic guitar. I wanted a Taylor T5, so sweet. $2000 was more than I wanted to give to add to my collection of 30 guitars already. My I caught this gorgeous ESP Telluride acoustic electric guitar. Playing it acoustically was nice but running it through an amp I was extremely impressed with the overall sound quality specially wearing a suit of quality headphones such as you would use in a recording session. I had about a third of the price of the T5 the quality is exceptional, not as good as a T5 before the price it is well worth it. This guitar was a replacement for an Alvarez classical model that broke when it fell. I wanted a cutaway classical because of the ease of access to the upper frets. I never had a pick up in a nylon guitar before, so that also was a plus. The price was higher than the amount I wanted to spend, but the quality of the wood was good and the sound was very balanced (volume: low versus high notes). The guitar would have gotten 5 stars except for the fact that the rosewood fingerboard was so extremely dry and overly rough. I put 3 doses of fingerboard oil on it and it soaked in quickly every time. Now it has the feel that it should have had out of the box. Another minor complaint is that the fingerboard is not cut at the bottom to go around the soundhole, but rather is straight across and rough cut. This makes accessing the truss rod more difficult. (I did adjust the truss because the neck needed it.) You won't regret this purchase, but be prepared to do a bit of post-consumer work on it.Archaelobsteryx
I practice guitar every other day. I purchased this guitar on a Stupid Deal about 2 years ago. It arrived on back-order about 3 months later. It is a good guitar, but could have been great if it weren't for some minor flaws. For the price, it's mostly there. It could use just a slight increase in the in-person character of the wood. I was able to ignore it. After 2 months the main issue it had was the all-in-one jack / strap button on the bottom gradually became un-threaded from the inside. MF told me to contact Lucero. Lucero told me to contact MF. Eventually Lucero said they would repair it, but I would have to pay shipping, which was going to cost about 1/3 of what I paid for it. I eventually found a video of a Luthier that showed how to re-tighten the jack. I had to purchase about 10 worth of stuff including new strings and a dowel rod, but it worked. While I was going through all that I picked up my old Yamaha and realized I like it better, anyway.gruvur
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DON'T BUY THIS GUITAR, TRUST ME YOU WILL REGRET IT BUZZING STRINGS: The 4th, 5th and 6th strings make a horrible buzzing noise when played open. I tried many brands and stiles of nylon strings and the problem persist. CHEAP FINISH: The guitar arrived with a faded "bleach" stain on the back. I contacted M.F and I was told that it was cosmetic and not a manufacture issue and that odds were they wouldn't do anything to fix it. After a little bit more than a year, the guitar has "bleach stains" all over the body. LOOSE CONNECTOR: The connector acts also as the strap screw and it looses frequently. I had to literally used super-glue so it remains in place. MEDIOCRE SOUND: The guitar only sounds fine if played with a decent amp. The only savable thing is the Fishman Preamp. Compare to a Yamaha C40, this guitar sounds like a toy guitar. * Already contacted M.F to claim the warranty because of the buzzing sound. I'll think twice about wasting my money in shipping and being uncertain if it will fix the buzzing issue.Dan

As soon as I picked up this guitar, it felt like it had been my guitar my whole life! The narrow neck and quality craftsmanship make it probably the most playable guitar I've ever gotten my hands on. The materials and look of the guitar are absolutely beautiful, and it sounds even more gorgeous. The pickup and microphone blend option is amazing, so you can play percussion or really capture rhythmic slaps and plucks of your fingerstyle. The cut away gives you that extra freedom near that wonderful area past the 12th fret, and arrived out of the box with perfect intonation across the entire fret board. Cut away doesn't effect the quality of the sound, and also just looks very good. The gig bag is as nice as it gets. I could not be more pleased with this purchase.Colin O
This guitar is really excellent, plenty loud and round sound from the tight-grained cedar top. The saddle and nut are high quality, and the craftsmanship across the rest of the instrument is great! The headstock especially is beautiful. I purchased a scratch and dent instrument, there were several marks in the finish in seemingly random spots, hard to tell exactly what caused them. There were also a few pin-sized bubbles in the finish (specifically near the edges on the body) that easily scratched off, leaving a hole directly to the wood itself. Very minor, but unsure of it was a factory flaw or just the finish being naturally delicate. Of course, it doesn't really affect the sound or playability of this wonderful instrument!Dan
I just received my Solea SA-C guitar in the mail and I could not be happier with how beautiful this instrument is! I am quite literally blown away by the beautiful wood grain of the cocobola back and sides! The fit and finish seems very good although there are a few small imperfections that you can find if you look close but overall this guitar is a gem. I've never owned a classical guitar before and ordered this one after doing some research. I did not want a Chinese made guitar and I wanted all solid wood. I first ordered a Cordoba Solista but it was back ordered so I cancelled and ordered this Solea and I'm happy I did because it's simply gorgeous and sounds exactly how I had imagined it would. But technically, it seems for.me that this guitar presents distortion on some strings, that when vibrating, they touch the steel part of some other threads. I wanted a smaller acoustic electric thats a little better than a starter guitar, something I could enjoy as my skills grow, and keep for years; something I can play by the campfire on weekend trips and not worry about having to pamper it. I read many, many reviews and listened to experts on YouTube play and compare. I bought this Ibanez and have been really pleased. All the reviews were on target and there were no surprises. The factory strings arent terrific but deliver a decent sound; there is no manual or even a gig case that comes with the guitar, but I found the perfect sized used hard case on Letgo for $20 and a used starter amp as well. I am all set up for under $360. Dont spend good $ on new cases and accessories. There is a huge local market to tap into through Letgo and OfferUp. I didnt want to buy the guitar used since Im still a beginner and wanted to play right away and be able to return if not satisfied. I think I made a good choice. The sound is good, better than expected for a thin instrument on the non-amplified setting, and think it will only improve with usage and better strings, which is what many experts say. Amplified, the sound is crisp, clear and delivers as promised. Its a lovely guitar; the dark finish is deep and beautiful, not atall a factory look like the ubiquitous blonde Yamaha starter guitar of my youth. I am not crazy about the gold-look hardware, which I think cheapens the otherwise excellent quality of the build… but that can be upgraded to chrome if I still dislike it next year. (Ill make it a goal reward for myself when I reach my next skill level). I noticed, while shopping for this guitar, that there are a number of very similar models out there. Most were more expensive, with different woods and very subtle differences. But, what kept me coming back to the Ibanez was the sound plugged in. Nothing else, regardless of cost, sounded as realistic as this does. Light weight guitar that sounds pretty darn good with an amp. It boasts a rich beautiful color in the light with really nice detail. Pretty decent sound for a streamline guitar. Your not going to get a deep sound but this a great piece to travel and practice with. Having a built in tuner is awesome! Also has bass and treble controls. I hooked it up to my home stereo through the stereo's amp and it really sounded sweet. I would highly recommend this guitar for anyone at this great price!TRACY

I am updating my original review, and downgrading my 5 Star Rating to a 3 Star Rating. I live in a typical apartment in Portland – where the weather is quite wet most of the year. Yet, my Lucero LFB250cse has developed conditions from drying. First, the Endpin Jack became very loose. Okay, no biggie – I tightened it back up. But then yesterday I noticed all of the Fret Ends were very sharp. Just like small knife blades against my fretting hand. So, the Fretboard has experienced shrinkage. And that is DESPITE very wet weather! My beloved new guitar, which I have played exclusively since purchase, is out of commission. At least until i order a Fret End File from Stew-Mac.

I have been playing classical since age 12, I am now 72. I have found this instrument to be most comfortable and responsive to my needs. I still have my first guitar that was purchased by my parents in 1954. As I play for my own pleasure and an occasional recital, I have found much satisfaction with this product. My son gave it to me 2 years ago for a birthday present. This instrument "fits" me perfectly. The neck is of perfect dimension for my left hand and fingers. As I transitioned from my first guitar to this one, I found it to be so comfortable. As I do not use much, if any, amplification, it is nice for large rooms like church buildings or recitals. The most expensive is not necessarily the best. The instrument must compliment the human body. Thank you for allowing me to comment on this instrument.Sounds of the past
Overall: This was my first time ordering from zZounds. I wanted a cheap nylon string to play around the house and Ibanez makes decent low cost guitars. The guitar showed up and the box looked to be opened previously, the tape was cut. I immediate noticed the fretboard was extremely dry, to the point that the radius of the fretboard was concave, not flat, it had cracks, and all of the fret ends on low E side and high E side were sticking way out. I boxed it right back up and sent it back the next day. I'm no stranger to working on guitars but this was not worth the effort. Too bad, the guitar itself sounded decent but I highly suspect this guitar was stored in a poor environment hence why the fretboard was severely dried out and the radius of the board literally changed shape.Customer service etiquette was lacking as well but I got a refund. If you buy anything from this place, a bit of advice, use PayPal, as I did. The refund process seems to move faster if you report an issue via PayPal.
I have several classical guitars, and this was the least expensive. It has become my go-to guitar for gigging, including a few spots for TV. At home, this Ibanez is the one that was always out of the case on a stand, ready to pick up whenever. So it became comfortable, but then noticeably reliable. It stays in tune. The electronics sound better than the Fishman on another that I have, particularly the bass response. The tuners (particularly the low E) have withstood routine changes to drop D a few times while playing, without obvious sign of wear. When I first started gigging I used another great sounding guitar but then changed to the Ibanez to protect the other(s) from bumps, weather, people, and other hazards. If something terrible happened to my guitar collection, probably the first replacement might be this Ibanez.Tim - ATL

The looks of the instrument are gorgeous. When I was buying there were very few reviews for this instrument on internet. I took a leap…. This guitar will not give you real classical sound unplugged. When you plug it in you can play with the sound settings depending on what you have available. I play classical guitar in an ensamble and can add some reverb and even a bit chorus. Being a classical musician I wanted depth and warmth, so you need a good EQ. I use just a bit of piezo and a lot of inside mic but right off the bet with such set up you have feedback issues with volume on the guitar all the way down. So there is the need for anti feedback feature. During live concert I had no choice but to bring the Low frequency down and it was very uncomfortable. The guitar is hot. Despite all of it I like the guitar and I suspect there is a lot of potential with this instrument. When you finally set the sound to your liking it's very rewarding! This combo of under the bridge Pic up and inside mic gives you a lot of room to explore the sound. I took the guitar to my Luther to try to eliminate some bazz especially on 4th string, he was able to somewhat do it via bridge and he said that the freeboard is done quite good and does not need adjustment. I like the playability as well. I have another Yamaha trans acoustic that is absolutely amazing and deep but wanted to expand the range of sound variations. My first guitar was a nylon-string classical guitar made in Spain. The neck was wide as expected, but that wasn't an issue for me when I was 11 years old. However, this guitar's neck is thinner and that's one of the reasons I went with this model. The action is also low right out of the box which I like. It is a joy to play. The sound when unplugged it's good, but the guitar really comes alive when using an amplifier. The built quality is great. And the case that comes with it is very, very good as well. If you want that nylon-string guitar sound with a friendly neck profile and low action, then this is a great choice.Carlos

I was thinking the smaller neck would be easier to transition to from electric but I'm thinking it may be a little too narrow for me now. I guess I'm use to the feel of a real classical guitar neck and with nylon strings this neck feels too small. Not the manufacturer's fault, the guitar is exactly as described. I could see this being good for someone who's never played a classical guitar though. Tuner and electronics work great and it's a great guitar for the price but if you've played a real classical guitar the neck may feel a little cramped.GT6L6

This is the entry level NTX model. The SDOTD price was a genuine and honest discount. But, the product description was confusing and possibly misleading. It describes an "A.R.T. System61" that is not installed on this guitar. The pickup system on this guitar is the System73. The System73 is a common under-saddle piezo strip configuration. The System61 is the Yamaha proprietary technology that is installed on all other NXT models. There is a noticeable 'runout' effect between the top halves of the sound board. Otherwise, the seam between the halves is impossible to discern. In fact, there were no seams, joins or gaps visible anywhere on the outside of this guitar. The neck and head stock are a work of art. To reiterate, the top is two spruce planks, the back and sides could be Okume or Nato. Yamaha does not list these woods as being laminated. Okume is an African hardwood and Nato is from South America. Both are considered acceptable mahogany substitutes. My guitar was made in China and sounds good enough given my untutored ear. The guitar has a truss rod, the 'urea' saddle is angled and uncompensated. My intonation and string height did not need adjustment. The NXT500's 'Slim' neck and nylon tones make this guitar hard to put down. Its also very light. I have several other steel string acoustics but I played this guitar exclusively for over a week, mostly unplugged. It plays well in my living room with a Fender Acoustasonic 15. The on-board tuner and rear-pointed tuning keys were convenient and comforting. I used them both a lot… btw, do nylon strings ever break in? The SKB-30 Deluxe Thin-Line guitar case fits this guitar perfectly. Also, choose the next model up if you want the System 61 electronics, fancy sound hole surround, sound hole cover and a solid spruce top.Rockme Allnite

I've owned this Takamine TC135SC Classical 24-Fret Cutaway guitar for six months now and I decided to let patential buyers get an opinion on it. All I have to say about this guitar is GOOD things. I was surprized at the guitars weight at first for the Preamp is heavy duty carrying 4 AA batteries. Since that very first impression everytime I pick up this guitar the warth builds and I am amazed each time I hit an open position E maj chord how balanced and smooth yet bright and warm this guitar is. I can get lost playing for hours up and down the 24 frets and wouldnt think of trading in or ever upgrading this to something different. I play mostly Flamenco with a lot of attack. If you want to have a subtle Classical guitar I wouldnt suggest this for a lot of sound is sacrificed by the preamp and cutaway even though I feel that the over all tone and volume is fantastic. I have a Taylor 814CE V Class and am hard to please with the sound quality of acoustic guitars. The Taylor has been my standard. I wanted a nylon string acoustic with a nut width close to my Taylor steel string.The Takamine TC135SC seemed to fit the bill. I v continue to be very please with the sound, play-ability and beautiful craftsmanship of the Takamine. Don't hesitate to buy one.Tom

honestly impressed with the Lucero LC100. perfectly playable nylon string guitar suitable for a student or beginner/intermediate player. california company, asian factory, and comes with a truss rod. i don't anticipate this instrument holding me back for quite a while. these come with equipped with cheap starter strings so buy a set of proper strings (i'm using the EJ49 pro-arte black which are working perfect so far) also please have realistic expectations about the electronics. audiophile quality electronics are expensive. this $200ish guitar is not. they work barely well enough to use a small amp or a looper pedal for personal practice but they do work. I'm playing a community theater show that calls for nylon string acoustic, and I didn't have one. Fortunately, I was able to borrow a fairly nice Takamine to get me through the gig. But I figured since I'm doing a lost of theater, and I've been playing for about 47 years, I ought to have one of my own. I played a bunch of different nylon string electrics, including $1000+ Godin's, various Takamine's, and Yamaha's, including the "silent" ones; I was uniformly unimpressed. I went to GC to look at the Cordoba (sp?), which were OK, but not anything I wanted to plunk down $600+ on. Almost on a whim I picked up this guitar, and after playing it for about five minutes and checking all the frets on all strings for buzzing (there wasn't any) unplugged it and went looking for a salesman. I REALLY like that this guitar doesn't require a battery for the pickup to work. No battery means no DEAD battery at performance time, and passive volume and tone controls are all I ever need; if I need more, I plug it into my Digitech RG1000… I declined the optional insurance – for the price, if it breaks, I'll buy another one, and if it gets stolen, I'll definitely buy another one. This guitar is a great value in all aspects; if plays well, sounds good, has good fit and finish, and not that it matters in the orchestra pit, looks pretty good too. I wouldn't wait too long to get one if your in the market – they're likely to go pretty quickly.
First let me say that I am no concert guitarist, But I have played for a lot of years and with a lot of entry level guitars. I bought this guitar because they didn't have the Yamaha that I went there to purchase. Very disappointed I begrudgingly bought this one with every intention of exchanging it for the "better" Yamaha when they got it in. But after a few weeks of playing it, I honestly wouldn't trade this guitar for any other. It sounds as good or better than any more expensive entry level guitar. And I have a few others. Even with the strings that came on it it sounds really good! These are not top of the line tuning machines of course, as you would expect for a guitar in this price range, but they work. I have to tune it every few times I pick it up but that may just be the nylon strings. But when its in tune it sounds amazing! Same for the electronics. And the finish on this Lucero is flawless. The alvarez cadiz classical armrest acoustic-electric guitar evolved from an intense study of some of the worlds great spanish luthiers such as ramirez and torres. everything about them is carefully considered and purposefully chosen. the body shape is slightly taller, narrower, and more elegant than past alvarez classicals. the soundbox is more lightly built, with graduated tops, and each brace is custom cut and sanded with 4 varying widths in total. the bracing design gives a slight nod to jose ramirez iii's asymmetric architecture in the fact that the cadiz guitars have a treble bar. this helps to stiffen up the treble side of the top a little more, which helps give these guitars a very round, bell like treble response on the first three strings. alvarez keeps the bass side of the top light by using slightly thinner braces, which contribute to its very open, clear and strong bass response. unlike traditional classical guitars, the hybrid models do have a trussrod to allow for relief to be adjusted on the radiused fingerboards. cadiz models are also made with a spanish heel neck joint. ramirez and other great luthiers also influenced alvarez when it came to choosing their scale length. the cadiz scale length is longer than the standard 650mm (25.6") you will find on many classical guitars. at 662mm (26.06"), this scale length raises the tension a bit, which helps deliver more energy into the soundbox for better response and projection.

When I went shopping for an upgraded acoustic steel string, I had no idea that my favorite guitar I picked up would end up being a classical hybrid. I had never played a nylon string guitar. I kept coming back to this amazing Alvarez in the store, and had a huge smile on my face every time I played it. It is so comfortable, and the sound is so lovely. It is fun for strumming and finger picking. It's got a great tone to sing along with. The arm rest makes it extra comfortable. And, it's so pretty! I am very happy with my purchase. I can't quite believe they could build a guitar of this quality for the price, the build and finish are excellent, what you would expect on a guitar costing far more than this. In usage, the neck has the same width as a standard classical but the depth of a steel string, coupled with the thinner body and light weight it makes this guitar extremely comfortable to play. The sound /tonal quality is also excellent, though perhaps due to the thinner body it is "quite" compared to standard classical, this was easily resolved by fitting carbon strings. The only real criticism is there is no dot at the twelfth fret and with the longer neck it can take a bit of getting used to if you are a novice player Overall this is an exceptional guitar for the price, novice or professional, this guitar has something for everyone.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
Overall: You've read reviews by guys who have been playing 40 years and owned every imaginable alternative to the guitar in the ad. Yep, I'm that guy. And this Alvarez CC7CE blows away every other guitar in its category. The tone is balanced, vibrant and responsive, never tubby. Fit and finish flawless. And right out of the box it is the best factory set up on a nylon string I've seen (3mm at the 12th fret, .090 at the first fret, 10mm at the bridge). I did smooth and polish a couple of fret ends and degloss the neck. But Alvarez has done their research and the slightly longer 660mm scale, thinner top and Ramirez-style bracing sing with D'Addario hard tension strings. Very glad I pulled the trigger on this beauty!Mark

I've had this for two months now and I'm very very happy with it. There's no reason to pretend that this is a $1000 instrument, but for ~$150 it's a very pleasant beginner instrument. Frets are edges are nicely seated so that you never feel them when playing; instrument stays in tune. Black finish adds a nice touch. I bought this guitar years ago while living in LA and loved it. Great warm tone and nice resonance throughout the body. It just feels good to play. I gave it to a friend when I moved across the country to NYC. I couldn't justify moving with 3 guitars, 2 ukuleles, an accordion, & more. Something had to go, and since this guitar is cheap, this was the one. Here I am buying it again 6 years later and it's just as nice as I remember. I love that it's a more sunny yellow than most other guitars as well. Just all around a good guitar. I debated ordering nicer strings along with it but decided not too. Bought this over Black Friday sale, and loved it from the second I played it. This instrument has all the warmth, resonance, and sustain you'd expect from a solid cedar top, but doesn't sound dull or dark like other cedar top guitars commanding twice the price. The neck is comfortable with terrific action right out of the box, and the zebrawood back and sides are also particularly attractive. My ONLY gripes with this model is the sharp fret edges (requiring a fret and dress from the start), and the oddball 49mm neck width. Seriously, why make a phenomenal guitar, only to ruin it by not sticking to the standard 50mm classical, OR a 48mm fusion widths? Not only are a replacement nut and saddle hard to find, but this 1mm difference makes it really hard to smoothly go between my Cordoba C5-CE and this without an annoying adjustment period.Steve
This guitar is absolutely beautiful! Exceptionally so–however, it is not a thin line as I believed it was so I had to return it and was met with marvelously willing and helpful assistance in our local store. I chose another guitar which was advertised as a thin-line guitar (same brand) and got it home only to find it is not thin-line as described; therefore, I have another trip back to return again and hope they do not lose patience with me. I think the incorrect description is probably from the manufacturer rather than Guitar Center so I would just say be careful with the descriptions, although I do not know of anything to be done about this except to go to another brand.Betsy
