Anyone who has ever played any Guitar Hero title for an extended period of time will invariably come across a song that completely owns them. I'm not talking about a Pat Benatar number, or something from the Killers or Nirvana. They're easy. No, the song that will have you staring in fear at a wall of notes while your rock meter goes into the red faster than ACC will almost certainly be metal, and extremely heavy at that. The reason you never got past hard on Guitar Hero III was because of Slayer, not Santana. Overjoyed as we were with the news last year that Metallica would not only contribute a bunch of their songs for a band-exclusive Guitar Hero title, we were far more interested to see just how developers Neversoft would deal with the difficulty level. World Tour and Aerosmith were noticeably easier than Guitar Hero III, the former going as far as to require much more accurate tracking for hammer-ons and pull-offs, the latter – well, Aerosmith could be described in a lot of ways, but "brutally hard" would not be one of them. Before we get to what it's like to play, it's worth noting just how inclusive this title is when it comes to Metallica lore. The band members were involved in every step of the development, with James Hetfield personally laying down the basic idea for the Career Mode storyline. This is based on a group of fans who followed Metallica around on tour in the early 1990's. It's important to realise that career progression is not done in chorological order like Aerosmith – Metallica vetoed that suggestion, and it's just as well. Imagine starting your career mode off with Motorbreath, or Pulling Teeth; you'd need carpal tunnel surgery before the second set. Speaking of which, you'll no longer have to play gigs to progress, Metallica harks back to the original Guitar Hero set lists style, each requiring you to not only pass songs, but achieve a certain number of stars to progress. There's also no need to perform endless early songs to get to the later stuff, as in Quickplay mode, all set list songs are unlocked by default. We've compiled a list of all the current known songs in this release on page two of this article. There's a good selection of not only Metallica classics, but songs from artists that have inspired Metallica, and those they've either performed with, or produced covers of. Some of the more notable include Bob Seger ("Turn the Page" was covered by Metallica on their 1998 Garage Inc. album), Lynyrd Skynyrd (the first album James Hetfield bought was from Lynyrd Skynyrd, paid for with his lawnmower money) and Motorhead. Motorhead is a recurring theme in Guitar Hero: Metallica, as not only is the Motorhead anthem "The Ace of Spaces" included, frontman, bassist and all-round legend Lemmy features as a playable character. Where Aerosmith dabbled in video featurettes and location-specific gigs to immerse the player, Guitar Hero: Metallica goes way further. Not only will you have access to a comprehensive extras submenu that features unlockable venues, songs, commentary, videos and behind-the-scenes footage, you can also replay completed songs with trivia pop-ups that give information about each track. With guest artist songs, you can learn how each band is tied to Metallica, along with lyrics and history facts. Themed Battle Modes will make an appearance too. We didn't get to sample these, but we've been reliably informed you'll be able to "fade to black" your opponents note track.swordandsparrow

In a game called Guitar Hero Metallica you'd think there'd be well more Metallica songs. Only about half the songs in the game are from Metallica the other from artist "inspired" by Metallica. It's said Metallica hand picked the other artist in this game but who knows. It's just really disappointing the Metallica games in this song be they their greatest hits or just some random ones are really fun to play. It's such a thrill with the music blaring and rocking out with some of your friends to these songs. Even the less famous ones get you going. Say what you will about Metallica but seeing them play live is a thrill. Which in this game you get to be them playing these songs feeling awesome after pulling off some crazy guitar solo or a really hard drum solo. Which is why this game gets so disappointing when you have to play the other songs which have none of the impact that the Metallica songs have. Sadly this is the formula which Guitar Hero follows. They've done it with Guitar Hero Aerosmith with Metallica and most recently Guitar Hero Van Halen. It lessens the experience. Plus most of the other "inspired by" artist songs pale in comparison and cheapen the experience. Hopefully Activision and Neversoft have learned from the dismal sales of Van Halen and Aerosmith and will try to learn from Mtv games and Harmonix success with The Beatles: Rock Band. Every single song is a Beatles song and there are even full albums you can download to add to your collection something none of the previously mentioned guitar hero games have. If you can find Guitar Hero Metallica for about 25 to 30 bucks its definitely worth the price but not for more then that. In the end it hits a great note when playing the Metallica songs then takes a dive when it forces you to play the other songs in career mode.ucnyc21

It is the last game in the series to be developed by Neversoft, due to weak sales the Guitar Hero series was placed on hiatus. Warriors of Rock was designed to return to the series' roots (to late), focusing heavily on lead guitar and towards the existing base of skilled players of the series. The game features a remade career mode called "Quest" set to a story influenced by heavy metal and narrated by Gene Simmons. Part of the story is influenced by the lyrics of the song "2112" by Rush, who narrate this portion of the game, while the finale is set to a new song performed by Megadeth and written by Dave Mustaine specifically to challenge Guitar Hero players. The game features 93 songs on disc, and compatibility with existing exportable songs and downloadable content from several previous games in the Guitar Hero series. Highlights the "2112" segment and the game's improved Quickplay+ mode, but a lackluster Quest mode's story and the lack of focus within the soundtrack. There was a tear on the box (which I assume happened during the shipping process), but it was packaged well enough that nothing broke. I was surprised when I found a USB adapter inside the guitar. More than I was expecting, but I already had one, so I have a spare now I guess. Plays perfectly, a bit squeaky, but that's about it. This game is the best guitar hero game ever, and that's including the new one that have out for the XBOX ONE. The graphics is the best of the series (before the XBOX ONE because of course that game is the best since it's just "live people"), the songs are great also. You really get a large variety of different music and it's A LOT of songs to play through. I love that you can customize your character and you just have a lot of options to choose how you want to play. If you like your music note hitting games, THIS IS A MUST HAVE.roosoraida

I used to play Guitar Hero when I was a teen so it's cool to be able to play it with my kids, and now on the Wii! (Didn't have the Wii back then LOL.) The graphics are really good and overall it has definitely improved since the earlier versions. Tons of great song choices and fun for the whole family to play. Why I bought it… Because of the free GH: Van Halen offer. Had it not have had that I would have just waited until the price dropped To me the setlist is bad and I figured GH:Mix would do the same thing the others did. I didn't think it would be any better than Guitar Hero World Tour GH:WT and definitely not as good as GH Metallica GH:M. I was right, again the song list had the worst choice of songs with the exception of 3 Doors Down, Iron, Maiden, and Bon Jovi. As for the graphics there quite a bite better than any of the others. The create a rocker is almost the same as in the past. Lot's of custimazation but very few decent hair choices. The chothes all all the same, might and I stress might be 2 or 3 new peices. But overall same old same old.. The competitive games are ok if you can play someone as good as you are you will have a blast. But for me it still gets old fast. I haven't tried the online portion of the game so I will not judge how that is. GH Mix: I thought for sure GH:M's GH Mix would not be beat. I am supprised to say I am wrong, for the most part. They almost out did them themselves on this. There needs to be more Metal tones, it's only got 2 good ones. I think there are way too many clean and oddball tones. They removed too many Keyboard tones as well. Back to the guitar though if you have GH:WT or GH:M I am sure you know what happens when you do quick power cord changes, you get that choppy cut sound. That was the only thing I had against GH:M's GH Mix and figured this one would be no different. I am very happy to say I was wrong. I tried everything I could to make it mess up but failed epicly. It isn't without problems though. After watching some videos on youtube of other peoples songs and thought that you could have power chords and lead on one chart, which would have been really cool. Sadly another dissapointment, all you can do is activate other notes so it just looks like you played the power chord. So that is an all but useless feature. GHTunes… Is like grass that never gets mowed… It would be half way neat if 99% of it wasn't crap… All you find on there is immpossible this or to hard that… GHTunes should have a "Remove it" feature where if the song gets enough of those votes it should be permemently removed from GHTunes… That would save alot of space and let all the good ones be heard. And thats pretty much it for my review of Guitar Hero 5. Ill end it with an over all rating on some of the aspects. Scale is 1 to 5 with 5 as best. Presentation: 3 Reminds me a lot of the older Guitar Heroes. Some new game modes but thats it. Graphics: 4 Very good graphics easily there best. The fret boards suck though. Its the same thing for all characters unlike the older GHs which where different. Gameplay: 2 Same old, same old, play each song once which is okay with me 96% of the songs I could only stand to play once anyway but it is getting old, Rock Band is far better. Sound: 3 Its only getting a 3 from me because it has Bon Jovi, Iron Maiden and 3 Doors Down on it. You can also play the DLC from GH:WT. Other than that this setlist should be balled up thrown in a rocket and shot into the sun. Lasting Appeal: 2 For me it's an epic failure the only thing that will keep me playing which is once every other week is GH:Mix and DLC. If you like all of the songs then youll not get board. Guitar hero 5 is an average game from the GH series however it is a Lot better than others such as the most recent Worriors of rock. The game doesn't come close to tendon numbing games such as Metallica but does have a good selection of toe-tapper songs and maybe even get your head banging. The guitar is probably the best part of the bundle pack. It amay not look as cool as the Gibson or Worriors of Rock Axe guitar but unlike those guitars, it does come with the "neck slide" feature (same as the Metallica bundle) which I personaly think should come with all the guitars. It gives another dimension of game play and slightly more sense of realism and adds a bit more of a challenge for all ranges of gamers. All in all, I would recommend this game/bundle because of the above however if you don't already own one, I'd say get the Metallica bundle instead and find GH5 (second hand) to purchase on its own. It would probably work out a lot cheaper this way than if you were to buy Metallica seperately instead. There's great "battle" modes against some real guitaring legends. The songs are from a wide range of bands (mainly picked by Mettalica themselves) and are by far the best variety (and challenging) of all of the Guitar Hero games I've played so far.thatcherl

So there's a few things I liked about this game. They changed the guitar so that way for people like me who can't reach the orange button, now I can reach all the buttons on the guitar. There's the regular version to unlock all of the songs they have Guitar Hero TV where people can play online and you can play other songs then the ones on the game. The reason I only have it 3 stars is the actual guitar itself. My guitar was not working well so we returned it and got a newer one. This one now the strum doesn't really work that well at all. Sometimes down works and it doesn't. So majority you have to strum up but, again works sometimes. Now it has to be returned a second time. So for an anticipated game, game was awesome. The equipment on the other hand needs work.nicole.f

Will have to say I was surprised by this game. Being a long time player of the guitar hero games and mastering them to a high level I thought this was going to be a breeze. I was wrong. The 6 button layout is rather deep allowing complex chords at higher difficulties and the overall game play is fun and adds a new dimension to the genre. I thought i wasn't going to like the realistic visuals approach but this didn't matter in the end as the actual story mode this is used in is really short and can be completed in a few hours. The GHTV mode is where I have had the most fun as playing the random collection of songs was keeping me entertained and has a much larger selection of music which is going to be added to over time. The only problem with this mode is its free-to-play model. Where you need to earn coins to buy plays to play the songs you want otherwise you have to wait for them in rotation. This may sound horrible but its not too bad in the beginning as plays are easy to earn as your low levels increase. But after about level 10 you will have to rely on the coins to be able to get your plays. Overall I enjoyed the game and if they keep adding new music to GHTV to play whilst earning coins to play the songs you want, this model isn't too bad. I would recommend this to anyone looking to play a new guitar hero game, but if your all about playing the same songs over and over to increase your score and go for perfect runs it might not be the title for you.Bawhawhaw

I got a great deal on my copy on ebay and love it for that fact. I have been an RockBand fanatic from the get-go and actually bought Guitar Hero: World Tour with very dissappointing results. However, THIS game was something I really wanted to have. With the RockBand / GH cross compatibility with equipment, made this purchase an easy one and something that was cheap enough not to require an entire switchover to a whole other game franchise and their gear. I had been initially worried since this game had been given away as a 'promotional copy' for free along with advance purchases of GH5. So I had always been eyeing auctions to find a copy for about half the cost of the GH5 purchase price (assuming the person wasn't a VH fan). I knew that I was going to try and spend around $30. I ended up winning a full copy and can verify that there is no difference, other than a lack of case and booklet in the promo version. Like many reviewers have mentioned, the game lacks a few things, like even using 'younger' versions of the VH members and the exclusion of some select songs. But all in all, I have to admit, for the master tracks and the ability to play along with some of what I consider the absolute classics of VH, it is well worth the price of admission. I love drumming 'Jump' and 'Ice Cream Man' is pretty sweet… I certainly wouldn't reccommend running out and buying a full copy of it off the shelves, for like $60-70, but securing a copy for under $30, regardless of whether it is a promo version or not, will not affect your enjoyment of the game. One word of advice I might throw out though is if you ARE a GH fan and own most fo the game. Do make sure you ask the seller if they've used the import code or not, if you plan on merging this VH library into your existing main game (GH5? GHWT?) Only because, most might've done this and are dumping the game for cheap, forcing you to play this as a stand-alone. I didn't care either way, as this is the only GH game I own or will play. Don't waste you money on the PS2 version, it is a piece of junk! Bought this game brand new and it keeps freezing up. I can play a few songs in quickplay mode, but after a few songs it freezes up when trying to load another song. I could not play career mode because it freezes up when trying to load it. Activision(the maker of the game) claims that my PS2 is in need of repair, but I don't have any problems playing any of my other hundred games. Also, if you check out the reviews of this game on Walmart.com you will see that many others have had the same problem I've had! Their PS2s work fine except for when trying to play this game. Activision is just like all the other big companies – let's blame someone else so we make a profit on a piece of junk. Don't waste your time or your money on the PS2 version!!!!!!!!!!!!!!bolts89

There is a reason why Activision was giving this game away for free for people who bought Guitar Hero 5. It's not a good game! First of all, it's missing two vital people who at one time were in Van Halen, namely Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony. The fact that they aren't even mentioned in the game is a slap in the face to them. Instead Eddie's 16 year old son, Wolfgang, takes over on bass guitar, even when you progress in the game and play as the classic Van Halen with Dave's long hair and Eddie's flowing locks as well. And then you look over and there's Wolfie who evidentally discovered time travel and went back to play with them. I guess Michael was sick that night. Another is that you can only create one band at a time in career mode, that's right, ONE band. Not two, not four like you could in Guitar Hero 5. And one more flaw is the choices in songs. I think I could have done without "Stacy's Mom" and another song that sounds weird to be included with Guitar Hero Van Halen. And can someone explain to me why I have to play the keyboards to "Jump" on the guitar?dodgerman5150

Good: 1. As a Guitar Hero veteran, I greatly appreciate the brutal insane difficulty GHWOR offers. 2. Unlocking extras via Quickplay+ is a great new addition, and there are many things to unlock, while the number of challenges grows with your library and number of bandmates. 3. You can still import your songs from other Guitar Hero games*. 4. When you earn Star Power when yours is already full, it goes to your bandmates. Bad: 1. No one online can see your created rockers or instruments. When you play online with others, one player will be a clone of whatever rocker you are using, and the rest will be from the rockers in your local band line-up. 2. *The Store does not work. (If you have imported/ downloaded songs to GH5 or downloaded GHWOR songs via the PlayStation Network Store, you can play those songs using the Update Setlist option. 3. Sometimes your difficulty may be automatically changed between songs. 4. Rockers in your band may be randomly replaced between songs. 5. The note highway often drags or freezes repeatedly (offline and online). 6. While in a menu online, the game may display the wrong rank, instrument, and/ or difficulty for you and/ or others you play with. 7. Disconnections often occur online, mid-song. 8. While in Matchmaking, you may hear someone on the mic or see another indication that the game should have taken you to the setlist already, but it has not. 9. Often online or off, upon selecting something that should take you to the setlist, the game will show an animate orange ring in the bottom right corner, which looks like an unusual loading indicator. This is essentially a sign that your game has crashed. The game crashes from many of the above glitches and at many other random times. 10. Still tied up in court, activision needed to drop this to help pay the legal bills from the last game. Activision OWNS the COD name, and just as every poor American business does they give up quality for profits. The down side to this game, like every COD, is it won't be long before they add some extra levels (most likely WAW levels) and try to get more of your money for MW2 in a new box. It plays like the last games, first person, nothing new there. Zombie mode, they promised in MW2, threw that in to make themselves look better. With out co-op mode this game would be trash. typical stupid AI in single player, no control of vehicles, laggy servers, glitches galore, nothing spectacular. Setting the bar so high in WAW, they are seeming to fall shorter and shorter every time they make a new one, because the same people make it and have no NEW ideas! HOW ABOUT SOME NEW STAFF ACTIVISION?! The leaders are unoriginal and care more about making a buck then making the gamer happy. watch these guys they are getting jackster! Call of Duty: Black Ops is a great overall package that has a ton of content to enjoy. The multiplayer modes are largely based on what was established by Modern Warfare, but the twists that Treyarch throws in work well. My biggest issue with the multiplayer is that the new Wager Matches, while fun in their own right, dont compare favorably to the high-quality and addictive leveling system and game modes from Modern Warfare 1 and 2. Single-player is as exhaustingly fast-paced as ever with large set pieces that try to take the attention off of the lackluster AI of both friends and enemies. Thankfully, the story is the best Ive ever seen from a Call of Duty game. Couple both of those substantial offerings with more Zombie content than some full-fledged zombie games and Black Ops is certainly worth your time, even if you arent already a fan of the series. 9.0 Presentation Top-notch as always. Voice acting expertly delivers the story thats presented in an innovative way. Plot gets just a little bogged down towards the middle. Some design issues hurt mission direction. 8.5 Graphics Some strange texture issues pop up every now and again and some levels are more impressive than others. I enjoyed the wider array of colors than whats in most COD games and some scripted events rock. 9.5 Sound Theres maybe one line in the entire game that could be called cheesy. Everything else you hear is a true delight and the soundtrack fits in with the events of the game nicely. Time to crank it. 8.0 Gameplay You cant help but feel that both the single- and multiplayer could use some new life beyond just adding bigger and badder explosions (like smarter AI). This is a pretty awesome game very different of other games and some of the Call of Duty games. I bought this game for the PS3 because I sold my Xbox 360 with all the games including Black Ops and the game is so good that I have it again for the PS3. I like this game because is a little different of other CoD games and I'm talking about the online gaming. Different kill streaks and really awesome the recording system that this game have so like that you can save and share you favorites gameplays. I'm a GB/MLG gamer so I can tell you how great or how poor this game is because I have all CoD games and I played lot more of shooting games and this one is pretty different. It have a combination of MW2 and CoD4. The content sound kinda drastic and strong but is not that much. Yes you can see some blood but is not something like OMG. I can say that this game is a familiar game too but I'm just talking about the online gaming. To be honest I don't play the campaigns of any game but I heard that the Black Ops campaign is very awesome but maybe the campaign storyline content can be strong just in case of your children. I recommend this game to all the beginners that wants a new or different shooting game and for those experienced and PRO gamers like me because in this game you can find real action and awesome ways to play like a real try hard. 100% Recommended.richieperformance

I am totally addicted to this game! Love the songs, I've already beat the game on easy and now working on the medium level. Lots of great songs and so much fun. Love the Run DMC bit, lots of cool cover band songs too. I skipped thru the Aerosmith interviews because I was so anxious to play. I totally "wussed out" on the guitar battle challenge. Even on easy it was way too hard for me. Hate that it actually says that I "wussed out" on that part on my "career". Guess I have to just keep practicing. :)My hands are all cramped up because I just can't put this thing down! I just love all guitar hero or rock band games. I played these games before I joined band in school. I love the musical aspect of it to keep rhythm and beats going and making sure you hit the correct button at the correct time. I feel like this help d me into the music world.tif.d

I am not sure why every one would give this a 10, because of the taste? How does that help you with your goals? You should be reading the list of ingredients, those ingredients after the proteins listed, like: Maltodextrin, Mono- And Diglycerides, Dipotassium Phosphate, Sodium Silicoaluminate, Disodium Phosphate, Silicon Dioxide, Artificial Flavors, Salt, Sucralose, Acesulfame Potassium. So I see fats, salts, sugars, artificial flavors, etc. Look them up. To me that's not a 10. So, maybe it tastes good, but how will it help me with my goals…it won't. So many reviews on here are hung up on taste. If a supp taste lousy but works, I'll get it down…but supps shouldn't be about a taste contest. I could recommend other proteins, but won't so no one thinks I am just bashing this product. I did my research, so should you…tpullano
