They are the best strings I feel I've ever played. I'm a Dunlop convert now, don't change the recipe because you've got a good thing going here! I use the 10's. The tightly wound string offers great tones, awesome bends and smooth transition. I was given these as a "shut me up" gift from Musician's Friend for an issue I had and it's one of the best gifts they could have given me. I put them on my Strat, I will be putting them on my Les Paul and other Strat AND my semi hollow body blues machine. I love these strings. I've tried the Elixir's, DR, D'addario, Ernie Ball, Gibson and Fender strings. The Dunlops are going on every guitar I own and I'm going to be setting up my Taylor acoustic and Epiphone Acoustic-Electric with a set of their acoustic strings to see how they stack up to my Cleartone favorites so I'll respond to that later. These strings are so great I'm telling the bass player in my band about them. He tried them out and was amazed at the quality and feel of them. I bought these on a whim one day. I can't explain just how great these strings really are. They have a unique voicing that really compliments my guitar's natural tone. I bought these Super Brights thinking they were Nickels, but i thought I'd give these Steel strings a chance. I put them on my Jazz bass and i was very surprised at how smooth they feel. Usually, Steel strings are too abrasive for me and rip my fingers up. these are slightly rougher than the nickels i usually use but no rougher than a set of standard nickel Rotosounds. Theyre also quite low tension which i prefer so i can perform bends with ease on any string. Soundwise, theyre great!! Plenty of low end warmth and top end brightness that isn't too zingy. A very balanced volume and clarity across each string. I got a lot of compliments on how clear my bass sounded after my last gig. I usually use .10s on the Hendrix guitars and drop tune to Eb. I was interested in these strings because they are somewhere between light and heavy guages and could also use them for standard pitch (E). When I changed over I had to reset the action, re-intonate (expected) and re-set floating tremo block (surprising). At first these strings seemed unbalanced, but once that was done, the strings were great. This set has a heavier 1st string and (way) heavier 6th string, and lighter middle strings. I've been reading reviews of these strings (customer and store's) for several years. Was never really sure whether to buy into the hype. For better of for worse, I finally took the plundge and tried a set. I'm 60 yrs old, 45 yrs playing gtr. I've used MANY types of strings over the years, through many types of amps. But when I slapped these babies on my 1974 Stratocaster (yes, black on black with maple neck – exactly like Gilmour's old one) the difference was immediate and profound!!! Smooth feel. Incredible sustain. Bends like butter. And the tone? Impeccable. Going from clean to dirty….it's amazing to keep that kind of tone between the two. Playing clean, straight into the amp, the tone is pristine – rich, smooth and sparkling. Plug it into the RATT peddle, NICE sustain, and they're fat and ballsy while still sounding smooth….exactly like David's tone! Believe the hype. The only thing I haven't covered yet is their durability (have had them on the Strat for about 2 weeks now). How long will they last between changes? My main guitar is a PRS and I play mostly Gilmour solos, some Santana and Gary Moore. However, I have always used 10-46 Elixir strings, brilliant but could never get the nice bass notes of Gilmour. A friend who tours with a PF Tribute Band uses the Gilmour blue strings which have heavier gauge bass strings and suggested I try them. So I bought some and they are fantastic. Living in New Zealand I couldn't get them locally and was a little reticent in buying on-line but can't fault the service I received. See above. I play a 12/6 1982 Ibanez Studio. The 6 gets the usual EB slinky regulars. I have tried EB slinky 12's, and didn't care for them. They were stiff and too jangly of a tone for my taste. These EB light nickels for the electric 12 are perfect. And they last. It is a lot of personal preference, but I think the most important thing with elec 12 string axes is to get a gauge spectrum that works for your needs. Unfortunately, it is trial and error. Superb. I've been playing multiple stringed instruments for over 40 years and have tried nearly every brand of strings made but I always came back to Ernie Ball. For probably the last 15 years i've used Ernie Ball exclusively. Like I say, I've used nothing but Slinkys, on my six and 12-strings since about 1970 with NO complaints. They hold pitch after a gig of bending them like the dickens. Wipe the off frequently and they'll last and last, like for those whom like to occasionally "flog" their axe just for their "own amazement" anymore. Used Ernie Balls on 99.5% of the gigs that I've played since about 1970. Wha's zat tell you? Hold pitch in ALL kinds of environments. I took a lot of years off and I had stock 10s on my G&Ls that was killing my hands so I played those for a while and endured my shortcomings as my hands were in training to regain the strength of my youth. Then made the switch to Ernie Ball Hybrid 0946s and that felt better but still felt like a battle when playing faster licks and solos. A friend suggested that I try the NYXL0942. Wow! I felt like I was in a time warp and back to my old self from years ago. These NYXLs have initially withstood my bending and time will tell to see if they are as tough as advertised. Also they feel like I am playing nylon strings so they are a lot more comfortable. Could be the lighter gauge but I think the string design also has something to do with that. The only thing I notice is that they do not ring out as loudly as my previous strings but it does not matter when you plug in. Really glad about these strings and will probably be putting these on all my guitars.MediumSexy
I love the sound of NYXL. They provide me with a pearl like sound that I can use for jazz as well as for heavier sounding music. The strings have qualities that last for a very long time. I usually change my strings every week. I left them for a month on my guitar just to see how they would sound. They sound fantastic… they would lose some freshness after about two weeks but they still hold a great deal of quality after two months playing. They also stay in tune after you pull your strings. These strings are a great sounding string with a full tone. I typically used an 11 string guage and went down to a 10 on my current guitar setup. When I tried the 9s I thought I would lose some of the warmth and fullness, but they sound fairly consistent with with heavier guage strings and are easier to play and bend. I tried these strings on copy of an ES-335 style guitar. The pickups are not as alive as I would like. The strings appeared to add energy to the pickup and resonate well. The best sounding and feeling strings I have ever used. Most of my guitars have vintage powered pickups and these strings are extremely clear sounding. They sound great on my Strats and Teles. They sound fantastic on my '61 RI SG and LTD PB 500 (Duncan Alnico II pickups). They still have the "slinky" feel of regular Ernie Ball strings. They seem to last a little longer too. These are great strings. The feel like Slinkys to me, but are a little more slippery. Sustain is fantastic. I wore out a set of DR DDT (11 bottom) so, I put them on my Ibanez GRG121. This guitar has dinky weak humbuckers, but a pinch holds way longer with the strings…to the point that it feels more like upgrading the pickups. Maybe it's placebo, but I could swear they have a tighter swing too. I went thinner than the DDTs (obviously) putting these on and some of the first moment fret butt I got above fret 15 went away. These are the best strings I've ever used. GORE has been trying to discontinue and keeps pushing the Nanoweb version: but the difference is huge! No match at all! The Elixir Polyweb maintain their tone, brightness and tension over 10 times what a Nanoweb does and probably twice that number over un-coated strings. I play every day and I've had guitars with over 6-7-8 months using the same set of strings with no issues. The're that good! BTW, my main guitars are Gibson Les Paul (TonePros Nashville and Tune-O-Matic Locking Bridge, Tusq Nut) and PRS Custom 24 (Tremolo version with Bronze Saddles and a Tusq Nut). These strings feel so good… no such thing as a strange feel because they're coated. You actually feel like playing with a very familiar and comfy feel. These Elixir Polyweb keep outperforming their competitors easily: D'Addario EXP, DR Extra, Fender DuraTone, Dean Markley Blue Steel, Earnie Ball Coated Slinky or the latest Earnie Ball Cobalt. Again: by far! In over 30 years playing and recording, I've never encountered a product of such quality in what comes to strings… and trust me: I've tried them all! This was a great price on my favorite strings. Shipping was very fast too. Unfortunately, "new" does not mean the same as"fresh" and I have now learned the difference. These do seem to be genuine Elixers, but a few problems which led to broken strings may indicate that these were either sitting on a shelf for a very long time or else exposed to moisture. Normally, brand new strings will be very springy when you first take them out of the sleeve. They generally will uncoil into a straight line, but every single one of these maintained a strong curl or twist in it. But that alone was not a problem for me. The strings installed normally and tuned well, but the tonal quality seemed a little sub-par compared to what I was used too. Still, it's possible I was just imagining that. The strings were fine for a month. Held there notes as well as any, and the tone was at least decent, though I still felt it was missing something. But after one month I had the B string break. I usually keep Elixer strings for 6 months before they finally lose their great tone and I replace them, and because I wind plenty of extra string around the posts, I haven't had a string break on me in over 8 years. Breaking one now pretty much confirmed my earlier suspicions. I went ahead and replaced all 6 strings with the next set, but 2 weeks later and the high E string broke on me. For now I'm borrowing the high E from the final set, but the first chance I get I will be replacing every string with a new, fresh set from a local music store. I don't think I'll buy strings online again because of this apparent problem of freshness.jaredlang85
Long lasting, great sound. I went to my girlfriends sisters home for Xmas and a few guys got a some guitars out and we played some rock, country and bluegrass on Elixers strung on acoustic instruments. They claimed the strings were three years old. They sounded quite good for their age. After seeing a John Paul Jones interview where he said Elixers were all he used. I already used them but his opinion completely sold me. I even bought an Elixer tee shirt. I use them on all my guitars and mandolins. I won't settle for anything else. I put these .008s on a vintage Telecaster on 3/8/18. Today is 9/16/19 and I still have them on! I read that Billy Gibbon's guitar tech mentioned they never break, so I've been curious to see how long they last. I've been playing over 50 years and do ridiculous bends all the time…like 4 fret bends and beyond with these strings. I just did a gig with this guitar yesterday and it still sounded awesome. Just out of interest, I'm keeping them on until I notice they sound dead or one breaks. I do play other guitars, but this has been an interesting study for me to see how long they sound awesome. These strings give you a very warm sweet midrange just like it says on the box. I also bought the .007s for another guitar just to see how easy it would be to play and hear what they sound like. They are hilariously easy to bend, but by "going up" to these .008s, I felt better with them and they are still easy for doing 4-hour shows. Highly recommend!Mark B.
These strings feel like clothes hangers. Hard and stiff and non responsive. They do not stay in tune after stretching. I feel bad to review this product poorly. I have always played Dean Markley Blue Steels forever…. trying these makes me understand why I would never change what works. ZZ Tops sound is amazing and how Billy G gets there is all his own… just would never work for me. All the Dunlop strings feel stiff and hard to the fingertips…. sorry… not sorrylongwhip
Great guitar strings, Takes a little getting used to, from where the strings are so light, But it makes play so much easier. Bending the strings, and holding a note are a breeze, with these baby's, Its almost to easy, I use to use #8 , So it was not to much of a change to the #7, I love them. They are amazing for blues. A colleague of mine turned me on to these, and in particular to this strange gauge of 9.5 – 44. I had struggled in the past with standard 9s on a guitar with high output pickups and a warble-happy whammy bar. I find these strings to handle really nicely, a perfect amount of slick and grip (finger contact) and they positively scream in my current configuration. I've put them on a guitar that I don't play live often, and I find that the strings don't deteriorate over time with the guitar being left in the case. This is very subjective and a question of personal chemistry. I mean, I've seen players go through a pack of the best "long-lasting" string on the market in one night, so it'll always come down to which material lends itself to your handling. Despite the price tag, I am not sorry that I've purchased those, and I just picked up a few more packs to tide me over the months of session work.Boyan P.
I have been using these strings for about a year now, when I had to drop down to 8 gauge strings due to carpal tunnel in my left hand. I wanted to go with a higher quality string since I would be using such a light gauge. The NYXL series does not disappoint. They are extremely flexible, stay in tune, last a really long time and they sound incredible. I had concerns that I would be sacrificing tone, but this has not been the case. Not only are the strings not aggravating my carpal tunnel, I'm enjoying the ease of playability and wicked vibrato and bends. I wish I had made the switch to these strings much sooner.Jon
This is the first time I tried these D'Addario NYXL strings. I got the nickel wound electric strings, regular light. I think these strings are one of the best I've used. I started playing guitar when I was very young so I've been playing for a lot of years. These nickel wound electric guitar strings are easy to play. The strings are nice on the fingers. Some strings make my finger tips get tuff, but tuff to the point that it affects the preasure I use on the strings. These nickel wound strings don't do that. I have had them on for some time now and none of them broke. I like the tone of the strings. It made tuning the guitar very easy after I strung it. There is something to say about having strings that are easy to string, tune, and have a great tone. If you are playing out some where and a string breaks you need to work kind of fast to get up and playing again. These strings do the trick.penny

Bought these strings cause I have been using Dunlop 10's for a few years now and wanted to try out a set of 7's. They do sound a little brighter to me then 10's as one would expect but they still have great tone. I can see why someone with a problem like arthritis should use these strings, fingering a cord is effortless and bends a just ridiculous. I could bend up 2 whole steps without a problem. If you use these you have to be a very light player. When I swapped out the 10's on my Les Paul for these I was thinking I could lower the action a bit but as it turns out if I played as hard as I did before I would get al kinds of buzzing. I would guess this is cause there is less tension on the strings which would allow the range they move to be more then a higher gauge string. I gave these 5 stars cause they are great strings, have great tone, I never broke a string in the time I used them and they stayed in tune. That being said I have since gone to 9's. As I said there not for everyone. I would recommend them to a friend but only if they were looking for the qualities that I found these strings to have.Shot
I've been using 7's for the past several years on my Epiphone SG's (with Gibson '57 humbuckers), and although they make the sound understandably a bit thin or tinny, you can make up for this a little bit depending on the amp you have. Even so, the better feel is what I was really after, and these have come through every time in that respect. My hands don't cramp up or anything, and I can do string bends with total ease. Previously I had used 8's, which I think were Ernie Ball, but noticed a better difference in feel and playability when I switched to these 7's (by the way, I use .46 Dunlop picks and have for many years). From the reviews I've read on these the past few years, a lot of people like these 7's like I do, so I hope Dunlop doesn't stop making them anytime soon. Their price is very reasonable too. I will say, however, that I've had a few issues at times with the high B & E strings popping out of the bridge saddle and, in the case of the high E, even getting snagged on the bottom edge of a fret or two, but this could've been the condition of the guitar too, plus my SG's are tuned a 1/2 step down from standard pitch, so the strings are even slinkier than they would be otherwise. Also, I've very rarely ever broken one of these 7's (if I ever have), but nonetheless there's an increased risk, surely, of that happening due to their thinness. Still, all things considered, I like these strings and will continue to use them when possible.Rick

I played 3 shows, and 2 practices then Pop goes the B…. 3rd practice, POP goes the A. This is all within 1 month from purchase, and pretty much how regular Slinky's hold up for me. Weather perhaps?… (I traveled from CALIFORNIA to CANADA and played 2 shows…) Faulty pack of these durable non breakables? Geared for those with that feather like angel whisper strumming technique??? I dunno, but do know when I first put on a new set any brand strings… and I mean ANY set I can bend, and dive, strum madly, and create chaotic thunder like all them fancy Axe Slingers Ernie Ball shows wrecking havoc on 'em for a good 10 minutes… What I was looking for was tone, and added longevity, and willing to pay the x-tra normal pack X 2 price…. but, I'm left a bit unimpressed here. Has EB's quality just gone down?… I mean even my regular slinky's seem nothing short of weak… my band's other guitarist is swearing by D'Addarios…. Think I may have to give 'em a whirl… Sorry EB. Oh, and as noted on a prior post the return policy is mailing back ALL strings (Good and bad one's), and EB will then send another pack to you… Why not just be able to go into an authorized ED dealer, and get a new pack??? I purchased these new Paradigm strings just to try them out as I'd heard so much hype about them . My first impressions are they feel and sound great , the easiest way I can describe them is like an up graded set of regular Slinkeys , I tried cobalt strings and didn't like them at all tbh , I've had them on my Gibson SG for over a week now and been playing for several hours every day and they sound really bright n fresh . One thing i've noticed is the tuning stability of the Paradigm strings much Better , my sg has always had a problem of never staying in tune !!! These new strings seem really stable and I hardly stretched them at all when I put them on my guitar . Will they last 90 days and still sound great though ??? Well i suppose only time will tell , at the moment I'm very happy with these new Paradigm strings . A +++++Leighton B.
My first set lasted 3 1/2 gigs before I broke the D string. This is much better than the average string for my heavy right hand. I play 10's on my Taylor T5. I can't play more than 2 gigs on a regular set period. I will up date and see how my second set goes. Here a run down of my first impression. 1- great feel. Bend nicely for soloing 2- they stay in tune well. Better than average 3- they have an extra wrap, very fine, on top of the regular wrap at the ball end. If you get a lot of strings breaking down at the bridge these strings may help. 4- dissapointed in only 31/2 gigs What strings are better – NYXL or these? Right now the jury is still out. Try them, they're great. Feel nice, sound wonderful, last a long time. I've been through so many brands and so many different types of string, and these are the absolute best (for me). Even better than the expensive Austrian and German brands. I play many acoustic gigs, most are three sets a night. Some mainstream brands don't even last for one gig, going dead too soon. And if you try to squeeze a second gig out of them, it's normally the wound third string that disintegrates, regardless of manufacturer or price. But these White Bronze strings hold up well. My acoustic guitar is also stiff to play (yes, I should get an easier-playing guitar), but these feel perfect and my fingers aren't beat up by the end of the night. The singer-songwriter I often work with heard these strings on my guitar and immediately noticed the difference, and then wanted a set on her guitar.Colin
I have my favorite strings for acoustics, electrics, and classical guitars. But I needed something that would work well with the pick ups on my new Ibanez arch top Expressionist. I've tried several. These are a great option. I like the wound 3rd string. There's a set of D'Addario with a wound 3rd string I also want to try. These strings are great for archtop guitars that carry a magnetic pickup. I play my Gretsch archtop unplugged every now and then and the flat wound jazz strings just don't have much acoustic presence. I tried the DR Zebras and they are pretty weak when plugged in. I went up in price of product in the hope that the strings would be colour coded but more importantly, packed singly to make identifying the right string during a gig would be easier. Used to use the Zakk Wylde lo-string set exclusively, but I tune to B standard and the high strings were too floppy. So I went on the hunt for baritone strings. I've tried all the baritone sets and this is by far the best. The gauges are perfect and elixir strings stay bright & resonant– I've yet to break a string!
