The bridge saddle, super Treble Saddle, guitarneck nut, and super treble nut are made of to soft of a material. No amplification for Bass or Super Treble. The fret job was superb, as well as the action. The finish of the fingerboard was very nice but not oiled a good coat of lemoil did wonders. The strings were horribly oxidized with black spots and pitting, very bad for a new instrument. Over all nice for the price. Also no tuner for the Super Trebles.jstmsnu123

Needs complete setup. Only After adjusting the neck. lowering the saddle and after removing the nut and properly seating it was it playable. It now plays reasonably well and I can enjoy it. It is a fine looking instrument. I would recommend it only to those who can do the setup process themselves or are willing to pay a tech to do it for them.bobcat420_0

the neck wasn't leveled the frets were sharp on the edges, the six string neck set up higher than the 12. the electronics were cheap and micro-phonic. either neck didn't seem to have a finish on them. even as a beginning guitar it wouldn't be good without a lot of work.harrisonguitars08
This guitar is very nice in appearance but the playability is a bit lacking. The tuning keys on the 12 string were stiff and binding. The volume knob for the 12 string had a wiring problem. when I would turn the volume up,(10) for the 12 string the 6 string volume would be down quite a bit. So when I switched to the 6 string I had to put the volume knob on 8 for the 12 string to get full volume for the 6. I keep all my volume knobs on 10 and adjust my overall volume from the amp. There's supposed to be separate volume knobs for this guitar but like I said there was some kinda wiring glitch. Other then this it was very nice and the sound was exceptional.merw.tom

I owned and played one of these semi-pro for a decade back in the '80s because it was a hassle switching from 6 to 12 string guitars and always having to redial the amp for the different pickup outputs. The heavy mahogany body (and it IS heavy, especially neck-heavy, the reason for the 4 rating) produces crystalline sound with excellent articulation and sustain and the output between necks is well-balanced. The 1275 gave me the versatility and ease of switching (one switch) that I wanted and a sound I loved. My single-neck 12s have been Rics. The 1275 lacks the Ric "jangle" but that's a minor drawback. I also owned a Carvin koa doubleneck: decent 12 string half, totally useless 6 string, but it was well-balanced weight-wise. I played a BC Rich "Bich" doubleneck and the thing is an ergonomic nightmare and didn't sound nearly as good as the Gibson. I installed a belt hook on my strap for the 1275 keep the necks from falling down when I let go and it worked well. If you want a doubleneck, get the Gibson.Jerry

Pickguard looks perloid in the picture and solid white is what I got. Upper neck has NO pickup selection. I know because I took it apart and all 3 upper pickups are wired directly to the output!! The knob in the middle, should be a blend pot that allows one to have one, both or adjust volume between the 2 necks. What the factory did was McGeyver a regular volume pot to try to do the same thing that kinda works, but not very well. 6 string neck on the on I recieved was very unstable! If you push one way or another, you can hear it go out of tune. 12 string neck is actually a little better, but the string break angle at the nut is ridiculous and pulls at the nut. I had to glue the nut in place (should have been done at the factory) to keep the strings in their proper place. Now I know at this price point for this type of guitar, you might have to put some work in, but some basic stuff should be ok from the jump and quality control sucks. I am a tinkerer and 40 year guitar player. So I know some things and know how to fix stuff. Good Luck if you get one of these that is playable out the box!!Rodd

I got this guitar just for fun and wanted to play around with a type of guitar Ive never played with before. However, when I plugged it in there was no sound coming out from the 7 string side and I quickly realized there was no switch to change between the necks. I opened up the back of the guitar and it looked like the wiring of the 7 string went straight to the volume pot of the 6 string. I dont know what to do about this and Im kind of disappointed, but Im not surprised because its only a $350 guitar. It should be fixable and for the price it was, it was definitely worth it. The instructions that come with the kit are worthless – thrown them away and search YouTube. Next, throw away the string that come with the kit. Now some positives. The neck and neck pocket fit very well together – very important. The gold hardware is a nice touch. Be aware that unlike many other kits, no holes are pre-drilled. Wiring diagram is rough but rest of kit is complete and decent quality. Very happy with build. Frets were acceptable but could be leveled a little before you start. Pickup routing off just a bit to square up bridge to neck. Required a little more work to fit correctly. Plays nice and has a nice Tele twang. I went with non included clear pick guard to show off burl better. About 30 hours to build. Mainly due to wood prep and staining.bdbird
This is a kit, so you need to sand the body, fit the neck, paint and clear the body and neck before you can even begin starting. You'll need to do a fret job on the neck as well, but it does give you a good base to start with since it includes everything. It has a full 24 1/2 inch scale length – it's just the body that is small and child sized. The pickup works, but it's rather weak so a replacement may be in order. Overall, it's a good base to start a nice little guitar, and the price makes it an attractive start.Scott
